Manila Resto is a Modern Asian Kitchen and Bar featuring Filipino and other Asian Cuisine in the heart of Downtown Oshkosh!
Happy to see an authentic Filipino restaurant so nearby. Our waiter was super friendly and very helpful when we asked for some insight on the menu. The food reminded me of my mother's cooking! I encourage anyone who hasn't tried this Flilipino cuisine before to give this place a try and I'm sure you won't regret it!

Amazing food, service and ambiance. No words can describe how much we enjoyed the overall experience at this restaurant. It’s one of those restaurants you just have to try so you can understand how great everything is. They are out of a few things we mainly wanted to try but we were not disappointed with what we did get. Flavor was delicious, great portions to share and our waiter was awesome very attentive. We will definitely be back and this most likely it will be a regular place for us.

Located downtown, this restaurant is welcoming in a very relatable way, but distant from the simplicity one would find in the Philippines.
My Filipino partner (from Gen San) and I ordered the calamari, the Lechon, and the pancit sotanghon.
The calamari was delicious, light, and the citrus soy was delightful.
The rest of the food however was less than stellar. Pork belly is always fatty, but this want just fatty, it lacked anything but the fat, and there was a hardness to the skin not the snap you expect eating lechon.
The pancit had relatively no flavour other than oil and anatto. The vegetables were lifeless, and the noodles were mush. The noodles I can forgive because depending on the region the consistency of them can vary but the taste was so disappointing.
We also paired it with the sinangag but it, wasn't fried with bits of garlic, it was white rice that had been steamed with garlic.
I wanted this to be a replacement for the Filipino restaurant we left before we moved here, but unfortunately it isn't.
Add to that a high cost and this feels nothing like a true Pinoy experience.

I was recently visiting my son I'm Oshkosh where decided to stop in at this establishment after reading the reviews.
When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised on how the place was set up and decorated. It was not busy by no means so we were able to pick our seating.
I loved how they didn't put the tables to close! A huge 👏 for that! I love space!
The hostess was very welcoming and our waitress accommodating. We are a family of foodies from fine dining to hole in the wall restaurants with amazing food.
We start by ordering a couple appetizers maybe more sometimes! LOL! The prices were great! We ordered so my son could take home some for his girlfriend. We experienced some absolutely fabulously fresh amazing food!
I can't wait to come back! Kudos to the staff and owners!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Manila Resto in Oshkosh, and I must say, it was an amazing experience! We arrived around 6:30 PM, and the place was bustling with activity, which is always a good sign. However, we did wait about 45 minutes for our starters.
What really impressed me, though, was the exceptional hospitality. The manager noticed our wait and personally apologized, offering us complimentary dessert as a gesture of goodwill. We were treated to two pieces of Maja and four pieces of Turon, which were both delicious!
To top it off, the owner came over to express his gratitude for our patience and to apologize for the delay. It’s rare to find such attentive service these days. Overall, the combination of great food and outstanding hospitality made our visit truly memorable. I highly recommend Manila Resto to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience!

This is the first time Me and my husband came in to try out Manila, I don't know if the food is good or not yet since we've been sitting here waiting for almost an hour now and still haven't gotten our food. Service is super slow. The layout ot the restaurant is nice. Noise is too Loud.
Update *: Got our food. Our food was cold by the time it got to us. The steak had no salt, asked for salt and it took them more than 5 minutes to bring the salt. The halo halo is nowhere near authentic. Paid $10 for the halo halo, it's mainly shaved ice, milk, one small scoop of vanilla ice cream, 3 cherries, and a couple strip of coconut. It tasted straight up plain ice. Asked for plastic spoon and the waiter brought out forks because apparently, they don't have any spoons. They serve ice cream and dessert but no spoons. Sigh. Never again, will me and my husband go back. First and last. Disappointed.

So I’ve ordered food here, and I specifically called them and asked them. Please put soy sauce in my delivery. The girl on the phone assured me there’ll be some I get my food. There was none. I know it’s just soy sauce but at this point it’s the principle I spend my money I expect to get what I pay for so I called the lady. She says we’ll take care of it quick will send someone out and now it’s two hours later I don’t need it now. I’ll never go there again.

I didn't know we were going to this restaurant until I saw the Manila sign outside. My husband surprised me! I am from the Philippines and I had never eaten in a Filipino inspired restaurant in this part of the US. I was so happy! We had been out the whole day and I was starving! I was so excited to feast on some Filipino food.
We waited at the entrance for awhile to be seated. We could see two ladies talking behind the counter and they saw us entering, but, they kept on chatting and didn't seem to care until I waved one of them.
Our order came after aonw time.. I was so excited to show off a couple of Filipino dishes to my husband. I even told him, these were some of the most popular dishes in my country, and guaranteed, he'd like them.
HOWEVER:
The steak pepper was swimming in a gravy of vinegar and salt! It tasted like a pickle, even more sour!
The adobo fusion, a combo of chicken and pork was very dry, gummy and tasted old. It was extremely salty. The taste was FLAT. No layers of tastes and not a hint of semblance to any Filipino version of adobo.
The calabasa dish was more of a sorry very salty soup it was not edible at all!
The three versions of rice were horrible!
For an $80 sloppy dinner,($100 to include tip) it was very disappointing.
This restaurant is a gross misrepresentation of Filipino cuisine. The food are a grave insult to Filipino dishes! It is shameful! The worst food I have ever eaten!
NEVER at that restaurant again!

Don't be surprised if your food seems to be taking a long time. Everything is made fresh & it's worth the wait.

Coming from the west coast and growing up in the Filipino culture, I never thought I’d get the food I miss so much here in Oshkosh. Marlo and his family do a great job - and they’re even better people. Food, service, atmosphere. Oshkosh is lucky to have this place.

Atmosphere is great and staff have always been lovely.
For the food, I can only attest to the halo-halo, but I was severely disappointed. After having lived on Mindanao in the Philippines for a year it is a favorite of mine and very difficult to get where I've lived in the States. I was excited to see it here and had high hopes, but I spent $10 on lot of shaved ice, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a bite of flan a spoonful of ube, sprinkling of nata, ten cubes of red jelly, and a cherry. I ordered it, so I paid for it, but I immediately drove to Golden Ocean to spend another $4 on a jar of halo-halo mix to attempt to salvage this experience. Unfortunately, I won't be back.
If you don't know what halo-halo is you will probably enjoy it. If you do, save your money for Chowking.

The food is still ok and it's an alright building. But something horrible has changed here. The service is ridiculously slow. Not "everywhere is understaffed" slow, but more like every single to go order will take priority over your in restaurant order. Our server wouldn't even check on us while we waited 50+ minutes for our order of 4 rolls. 4 whole rolls. Sadly these types of experiences stick with me and I'll be taking this off my list of places to go.

I booked my hotel many months before from April 3-5, 2024. After research, I found a Filipino restaurant called Manila Resto. I've seen a couple of photos from my friend. So I thought it must be good. Together with my family, we went to the Manila Resto. They were only open from 4:00 pm, I think. I ordered Sotanghon (Vermicilli) Noodle, Calamari, Pork Liempo, and Chicken Katsu. I was disappointed with their Sotanghon Noodle. It doesn't look like the traditional Sotanghon Noodle, I knew. It looks more like a curry and didn't taste like authentic. Java Rice and the Fried Rice were also disappointing. I'm not planning to go back there. Sorry, Manila Resto. I want an honest review.

Will most likely return again (it's just a far drive for me). The food was great but I wasn't blown away. The sushi was definitely the highlight as far as the food went. My main course was just okay. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was enjoyable too. We had a 1 year old and they were very accommodating - they suggested some food for her and even brought it out early as well. Our server didn't know some of the questions we had but was very prompt in finding out answers.

This place is great, food is amazing but if I’m picking up my food, don’t ask me if I’m gonna tip cause I have to drive and get my food, I’am not dining in. This has happened multiple times and its kind of disrespectful when you ask that, people tip when they want to tip, don’t ask them if their gonna tip

Best sushi in the area in my opinion!

I've had sushi here and it was great. I tried the veggie curry this time and it was really watery. Like a thin soup. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but I didn't care for it. Usually a curry tends to be thicker. Either way, the appetizers were great, so there's that.
This was kind of a busy night and the bar area had a bunch of people in it. Everyone in there was super loud and there isn't much separation between the bar and dining area, so it was a little much. Additionally, our waiter was very busy and we were waiting for the bill for 15-20 minutes.
I'm not saying it's a bad place, but I'm going to try something else next time, and maybe come a little earlier before the drunks show up.

I loved this place! My husband and I catered with them for our wedding years ago, and we decided to pop in since we were back in the area. It was just as delicious as it was back in 2016!
Food was awesome. We got rice vermicelli noodles +chicken, crispy pata, java rice, white rice, chicken skewers and cocktails. All were well cooked, well seasoned, and delicious. I had never heard of crispy pata before, but it seemed to be a fried bone-in pork shoulder that was super tender with crispy skin. Just amazing. It came with a dipping sauce that tasted like apples (pears?) and spices and was a perfect complement to the pork. The rice was chewy (that's how it should be, imo) and the Java rice in particular was really fragrant with chicken and spices. The noodles were just as good as I remembered, too - my only complaint is that they don't hold heat very long and cool down so fast! Still tasty cold, though.
Service was lovely. The wait staff checked in just often enough, which is my personal preference.
Atmosphere was nice, but a little loud (expected on a bit Saturday night, I just like it quieter). They had live music, which was great! The pianist did a great job.
Bathrooms were clean and smelled pleasant, and the water to wash hands was warm.
We spent about $80 for the two of us, so a wonderful night out at a very reasonable price.

Went to Manila Resto tonight to use a CityTin card and celebrate my husband's birthday. We both ordered pork dishes, which were delicious. However, the menu said they came with vegetables. Mine came with a few slices of cooked onion and my husband's came with 1 lettuce leaf. I may have misunderstood the menu, but if I knew that was it for vegetables, I would have chosen a vegetable dish instead. The amount of meat we got wasplenty, even too much for me.
I also tried to order a skewer...which they were out of. I tried to order a salad, which they were out of. I was disappointed in both of these. Our waiter, Logan, explained that it was the end of the business week, which I understand, but I would think the goal would be to have enough supply for Saturday night, especially since our reservation was early in the night (5:30).
Additionally, there was live music, which I appreciate, but it was maybe a little too loud and made conversation very difficult.
I don't think we will return.

Dinner here was delicious. What a gem for Oshkosh. The Manila Rice Bowl came highly recommend by our waitress and it did not disappoint. Would love to come back here when we’re in town again.

Food was delicious. We had reservations, got seated right away, appetizers took about 30 minutes to come out, meal almost an hour. Table next to us got up and left and table behind us ended up taking food home with them because it was taking so long. It wasn't that busy, so not sure why the slow service, but when we got our food it was delicious.

Manila never disappoints. The food is always delicious, the service is great, and the atmosphere is enjoyable. Anything on the menu is good, but their sushi, noodle dishes, and pork belly dishes are my favorites. They usually have live music on the weekends, which is nice to listen to during your meal. We also enjoy their "Cultural Nights" where they offer a four-course meal inspired by a specific culture. It's a nice change of pace from their typical menu. It's usually pretty busy on the weekends, so they recommend reservations.
This is easily one of the best restaurants in Oshkosh. Try it out - you won't regret it!

Disappointed. Has really fallen off. Because when we order at 5:30 on a Wed. No chicken Katsu. They are out. So no order at all. No food bought, canceled order of everything else. Not going to feed everyone except the person who wanted chicken Katsu and came just for that, offered Salmon Katsu as a replacement or Adobo chicken or some other weird kind. Do Not want to Hyberpole but how hard is it to make chicken Katsu. So I would suggest that you call ahead to see what they are out of before you go. Since right after they open they run out or do not have things on the menu like Chicken. Better off going to Panda or that Teriyaki Madness.

We always look forward coming to this place over the years until recently. We would love to come again and support this business but after our last couple visits, our dining experience was sub par. For one, we placed our order, waited a while only to be told the dish we wanted isn’t available to make (pretty normal these days with staffing issues but i would be honest that even before covid hit and before all the understaffing issues, service here is very slow). So we picked a different dish (both me and my husband), waited a while again and the waiter once came back to tell us that these were also not available. We also asked for milk which was on the menu for our kid, and there was no milk available. With all these, our wait time was doubled and it was so frustrating. The waiter should have known better and told us before hand what was available and not. We did not get the dishes we came here for, we drove from
a different town. Another incident was the waiter messing up our orders. We were a party of 4, got our rice mixed up, waited for a good 15 minutes for the correct rice and still wasn’t served so I just asked for a plain one. Apart from that, we ordered a dessert and later on we were told that the last batch “flopped”. Like seriously, how does that happen? Lastly, we ordered 3 servings
Of a certain dessert and they all came
In different amounts like you can literally see that one is more than the other. The waitress was also not very attentive
And not enthusiastic. Lastly, the food has been becoming somehow bland to the taste. Not sure why but definitely not worth the price you pay for anymore. It’s such a shame because this establishment has been great in the past but now seems To be going downhill. Was planning to come back with a bigger party but that’s not happening anymore.

The food is on-point and presented beautifully.
My one critique is wait time. For our lunch our party waited 1 hour from placing the order. I have had outing where the wait time is not as long but the past few times have waited longer than ideal.
I ordered their edamame, miso soup and their dragon roll. The only non-repeat will be the miso soup.

Ordered take out. Should have known something was odd when it took 30mins to make food and there were only 2 tables dinning in. I ordered fresh rolls and chicken curry. The wraps are absolutely disgusting. Not sure what kind of wrap they used but it tastes terrible and dry. The curry has huge pieces of carrots and potatoes and chicken that you would need to cut up to even eat it and doesn't have much flavor at all. Maybe this is because I ordered it not spicy but I am unsure as this is my first time trying this dish. Then they forgot my rice which is like basically the main thing you eat curry with, seems very odd especially when they weren't even busy. The last time I ate here we dined in and they were out of everything I ordered but I decided to give them another go as I have never had a bad experience here besides that one time. Well I'm not sure what is going on but this place is definitely not what it used to be. Extremely disappointed yet again.

Our first time here and unfortunately, probably our last. The place was chic but the service was terrible. They did not know where to seat us, and once seated, we ordered our appetizers right away and got our waters. The waiter did not come back to take our main order until 20 minutes later, and then we sat there for a total of 60 minutes with no food or refills before walking out. Terrible. I understand the issue of being short staffed, but to not come refill our waters or check up on us is ridiculous. There was a table next to our table that has not been cleared either. Just so unprofessional. Spencer was our waiter. 60 minutes of waiting for food will absolutely lead to a hanrgy mood and an angry review.

Finding this cute Filipino restaurant in Oshkosh is crazy. Make reservations because they fill up. We went for dinner at 7pm and the place was full. They had a 2 piece jazz band playing. The food was fabulous. Great appetizers and mains. The adobo sliders were delicious. And the pancit bihon is exactly what I remember my mom making when I was younger. The leche flan was yum! Wished it was bigger though. Ha! Definitely will come back when we return to Oshkosh.

Made a reservation for 10 for their classic boodle. The food was delicious and the portions are crazy. We got 4 heaping piles of food. The reason for the 3 stars is that we had to wait a long time for the food. Service was still good and attentive, but it was slightly frustrating having to wait. On top of it, some of the food elements were cold.
I enjoyed the flavor profile of everything and the potential is grand, but the wait sort of killed our mood.
I would like to add that we got free dessert as a result of the long wait.
I look forward to giving them another shot!

We've visited two times so far. The first time I got the shrimp tempura & I believe we got pot stickers for appetizer and my partner got the crispy pata. We barely finished our food. The shrimp tempura was very similar to what you would find in a Japanese restaurant and my go to for sushi rolls. The Pata was very well served, a lot of meat. My partner ended up bringing some of ir home. It reminds me of carnitas/chicharron. The second time we didn't get an appetizer because we were really full. I got the Ginataang Kalabasa, it was delicious! I didn't know it was a soup (though it says it'sa stew in the description) , so probably not the best idea to have hot soup in summer but regardless it was outstanding & I think this is going to be my go to in the future, also the garlic rice is amazing. Specially for fall & winter. It's very interesting to see other Asian cultures influence the Philippino cuisine. There's a parking lot right next to the restaurant & we've been sit almost immediately.

I’m writing this as I’m sitting here at the restaurant. Got lots of time to do it. Been sitting for 52 minutes now, still haven’t gotten our drinks. Don’t think I’m going to stick around for the food.

Second year visiting. Excellent experience. Bell was super cute and fun at the bar. Spencer was helpful too. The food is always top notch. We will be back next year.

I liked their sushi a lot, we got the boat. The miso soup came out a bit late from us being forgotten, so it wasn't hot anymore. I wasn't a big fan but it wasn't bad I bet it would have been better warm. Salad was great and I really liked the wasabi dressing. We received a desert for the soup coming out late which was appreciated. The custard desert was really good. It has cocoa all over the top and then Carmel was spread about the whole thing. The prices we quite high for the amount of food we were getting but overall was very good.

I was impressed with our waiter- Spence; he knew the menu well! He knew what was GF and not GF! So great job to him. Drinks were all made well! Only reason a 3.5 was the food was average to me. Nothing was wrong at all! Everything was hot! Everything came out at once! It is a different type of food too! Not my normal go to food like a med rare rib eye steak!
I tried my sons pork and chicken dish( no clue what it was called, but that was very tender! Pork was really good. So after all said. Let's give them a 3.8

I don't think they know what good service even means. If you want your server to ignore you, then come to this place. Don't expect a refill on your beverage either, even when you put it on the edge of the table for them to blatantly see. Our appetizers were room temperature and the food was good, but not great. We will not be back here.

Great staff, great sushi!

Table was dirty, order got wrong, menu was little confusing and waiter was no help answering questions either. Pork adobo was garbage, not even authentic to real Filipino pork adobo. Coming from guy who actually been to Philippines.

The service was fine, but the menu literally says "it's worth the wait," and it was most definitely not worth the wait. The Calamari was cold, the miso was bland, the rolls were soggy, the chicken was raw.

Great introduction for the cuisine of the Philippines
I had the Sisig, and I thought really good, despite the fact I typically do not like pork

The best hidden gem of Oshkosh. By far the most enjoyable dinning experience we have had in this city. We waited 3 years to try it and greatly regret this mistake.

Was excited to try this place, but the service was slow, the food was just ok, and 8 hours after eating there I had terrible food poisoning

We ordered a Lechon for a birthday party. The Chef did a great job against some difficult circumstances. The man was outside cooking this in subzero temperature and it came out perfectly. So delicious we very much appreciate his efforts.

Very nice place . The 43k trip on the menu was a lil odd. But food is great.

Place was empty for lunch. Mostly good food in generous quantities. Our calamari appetizers were overcooked and rubbery. Limited entrees, missing kalderetta which I had come for. Other dishes were OK.

Food was incredible. Full of flavor and the meat was tender. Did a pickup order for lunch. Staff was friendly and, even though I was early, they got me my order in a few minutes. Ordered the CPA and beef yakitori though the skewers didn't last long enough for a picture - c'mon a guy gets hungry.

This is my third time here from Chicago and I find it fabulous that there is a fine dining Filipino restaurant here! I had sisig. Crunchy, a little spicy, and vinegar hint! It’s one of the best, if not the bomb of sisigs in the Midwest. Even the ones in Chicago can’t compare. The sotanghon pancit was also very good considering that I only wanted it in veggies. I would come back again! Awesome!
