I finally got to try Kinja today and had their bibimbap, and WOW. It was seriously amazing. The ground pork was cooked just right, and the tangy kimchi and other sweet veggies were so flavorful. Everything was perfectly mixed together in the hot stone bowl – such a satisfying experience! I'm definitely going back to try other things on their menu. This place is a keeper!

I wish there was a “zero” because this is the ABSOLUTE WORST SUSHI I HAVE EVER PUT IN MY MOUTH!!! I can’t say I ate it because it was so gross and old, the smell and taste made me want to throw up. I just threw $40 worth of sushi in the garbage. This place is the worst! Now I just pray I don’t get food poisoning from the undercooked rice and rotten everything else! Also multiple rolls are missing the ingredients listed on the menu. So they also like to falsely advertise. The only thing edible was the gyoza which came without sauce.

We came here for christmas Eve dinner. It was a very pleasant evening. The food was great! We got the bento box with katsu chicken, potato croquettes, and spicy pork. Everything tasted good and hot! The owners were very busy with all the to-go orders coming in constantly, but they still managed to put on a smile and provide us with anything we needed.
Thank you for being open and cooking!

I love this place, I go every time I can , sparingly tho…..I eat SPICY SPICYYYYYYY😅 my stomach can only handle it sparingly but omg this food tastes like the spices my mom uses and it tastes like home! I ask extra spicy for my spicy pork and I’m on fire! Tho it’s amazing I’m Mexican, nice mix of Korean and Japanese , both chefs are amazing and receptive. One is quiet and humble one is sweet and jovial. Honestly will be a place to visit for years to come, Covid couldn’t take it down 💪🏼 try there dragon roll or bento box chicken katsu or spicy pork (it’s not that spicy but I’m Mexican, I ask for extra chili and I’m on FIRE) Teriaki Chicken! 🔥🔥🔥Bul-go-GI was good too😁😁enjoy ur meal and it’s usually not too busy and it’s spacious and good atmosphere 🥰take your time and enjoy the food everyone!!!💚☀️✨✨✨

My wife and I enjoy visiting this charming place whenever we're up north. Each time we go, we appreciate the quiet and pleasant atmosphere. The owners are incredibly friendly and have a wonderful sense of humor. We always look forward to the soft shell crab appetizers, and the spicy soft tofu soup is simply delightful. Part of me hopes more people will discover this gem, while another part appreciates its cozy, somewhat hidden quality. It truly stands out as one of the more authentic Japanese restaurants with an amazing addition of Korean flavor in Spokane. We are excited to return, especially during the fall and winter seasons!

Went for my brother's birthday and we were the only ones in the building yet took over 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, when we were given drinks we were handed cans. I ordered the 13$ ramen that had almost no description on the menu and during waiting for the food heard a microwave beep multiple times only to be given what was very obviously top ramen covered in carrots and shrimp that didn't have the tails removed. I'm not sure about the sushi but if you are looking for noodles go absolutely anywhere else

This restaurant is a gem in the rough that is Spokane. If you enjoy Korean food as well as other eastern asian food in this area, this is the place to go. Flavor profile is beautiful. Texture is immaculate. Tens across the board. Don't underestimate these guys. You'll be seeing me again 😉. Thank you!

I did a pretty large order through UberEats around 8p the other night. I got the order pretty fast. The food was hot and fresh. The Katsu and Bulgogi were to die for! We also got some sushi which was also very delicious. I would have given 5 stars, but the chicken fried rice we ordered was a bit oily, and the yakisoba had an odd flavor to it and was not very tender. I will absolutely continue to eat here.

I quite like how empty the place usually is, never had more than two other tables seated every time I’ve been here. It’s a nice quiet atmosphere to sit and enjoy your food with your friends or loved ones. The staff is very kind and catering, and the food is great. I always get a chef’s choice of sushi/sashimi, the green tea, and a Japanese cheesecake! When you ask for soda they give you a cup with ice and a can, so it’s good to know you’re getting fresh and not flat soda every time, and you’re not limited to choosing from one brand! It’s still a bit of a letdown that the belt has not been up and running since COVID, but I’m also a little glad because that keeps the place a bit quieter and more of a secret local spot to wow your friends with! The prices are cheap compared to other sushi shops in the area, so I totally recommend it!

Overall I really liked this place. It was a little off putting that it was completely empty but it was great service and a cute little place! It took a little bit for our food but so worth it! I got the caterpillar roll and lion king roll and both were delicious, some of the best rolls I’ve had in a while. My friend got the yakisoba and a veggie roll and she enjoyed both. It definitely looked like it used to be more popular but still deserves some love! I don’t understand how it wasn’t busy when I went in!! Would highly recommend!

I used to get the Korean spicy pork from this location years ago prior to relocating to another state. Since moving back this is my 1st time eating here again and I have to say it was very disappointing. The yakisoba noodles were undercooked to the point I had to recook it at home, also I paid extra for shrimp only to receive 3 very small pieces. The pork was mostly fat and lacked flavor. The teriyaki chicken and generals tso were edible but definitely not worth getting again.

Used to come here before COVID, it's a bit different since COVID because they have the belt off and it's definitely meant to be set up for pickup, probably because pickup is more popular nowadays, but it was a little nostalgic to me, we ordered a California with fish eggs, a crazy Philadelphia, a garden roll, kimchi, and tea, we got silverware and dishes that weren't 100% cleaned which was a bit worrying but not something we couldn't avoid, the garden roll and Cali were a bit bland, but with soy sauce and ginger there was more flavor, the phili itself was good, adding soy gave it more flavor though, enjoyed it both ways!

I wish more people would think about walking in if they had the choice and maybe they could return to being as busy as they were as well as probably getting back into the flow of running their little sushi bar!

Another reason for not ordering out and just preparing food at home.

I've gone to Kinja a few times with my boyfriend and we had pleasant experiences each time we went. Last night was enough to question going again.

There was a new server that was working there, and she was nice and we got seated to dine in. The fact she was new is fine, but the service we were provided was unsatisfactory. We didn't get anything to drink until about 15 minutes after we told her what we wanted to order and business at that time was very slow. The only reason she realized she forgot was after we were staring at her. What especially shocked us were the tea cups she handed to us had a brown film around the top that could be scratched off with your finger nail. We asked for different cups, and she handed the same tea cups which again had build up. She checked in again, but we told her they're still dirty and showed her and my boyfriend ended up grabbing a water bottle from my car. We got our food a while later, which was good except the kimchi was kinda bland. And our sides we ordered weren't delivered until we asked about it when she brought the entrees and the miso soup was room temperature.

Left feeling very disappointed by that. It sucks when the money you work so hard to earn and want to use for something pleasant gets met by that. Until something changes, I don't think we're going to be back.

I ordered delivery. Spicy ramen and mild ramen. Both with chicken. The ramen was horrible, the broth was tasteless and barely had any meat or vegetables in it. Also ordered some sushi and they didn’t include wasabi or soy sauce. No utensils, no napkins. Maybe the dine in experience is better, takeout was not a good choice 🤷🏻

July 2023 Update:
We visited Kinja this weekend and they have lost a lot of the appeal they had. The track hasn't started back up, the polish of a restaurant is missing, service took a dive, and menu slimmed to basically sushi. The sushi is amazing, but somewhat pricier than I think it should be.

I am not seeing a big difference between this and sushi house.

Prior review:
We have eaten at Kinja for years. Service is great and food is worth the price. Things dip a bit when they are in a rush, but it is really good overall. Fresh sushi and a ton of options.

There is no working sushi conveyor belt. It looks like it hasn’t worked since Covid. The restaurant is still laid out in a ‘Covid’ style….ready for take out only.

As soon as we walked in I was disappointed but we decided to give it a shot. Monday at 5 PM and two other tables were waiting for food. Feels like you walked into a ‘out of business’ restaurant.

No fountain drinks, you get cans, with cups of ice. We ordered 3 sushi rolls, and chicken fried rice. It took a while to get our food and it looked okay when it came out. But tasted off and bland. I guess the meat in the rolls tasted off…like the meat had been frozen and then thawed out and maybe frozen again?

Instead of chicken fried rice, we got pork fried rice…or what seemed to be pork. It tasted more like spam. And was very greasy.

The two poor employees did try to work fast and were friendly enough. It cost us $62 with tip. Super disappointing and unfortunately we will not be back.

Showed up and found due to "cleanliness reasons" they are only doing orders from the menu, which meant 8-12 dollars a roll instead of conveyor belt prices. Ordered tteokbokki, bibimbap, croquettes, and Kinja to. This came out to 66 dollars and we didn't finish a single part. The tteokbokki tasted really bad and not like normal tteokbokki. Bibimbap was 17$ and had almost no meat at all. The Kinja roll was covered in an over powering salty sauce. Lastly the croquettes which had good flavor were soggy and mushy. Would never go back to again or recommend.

I ordered through Uber eats and received some disgusting sushi and miso. I do not leave bad reviews EVER. Everything was ice cold, the avacado was old and you can tell these rolls had been sitting in the fridge over night. $60.00 order. I called and the woman I spoke with didn’t understand me and just kept telling me my food was “okay”. Be very cautious if you order for delivery because wow this is disgusting.

What a rip off. I ordered a bibimbap bowl that came with a tiny half ounce portion of beef. It was almost insulting. The seafood salad is also tiny. Waste of money for these tiny tiny portions.

Surely, unknowledgeable server, dine-in food served in disposable containers with disposable utensils (is that legal in Washington?), and mediocre food. Not good.

I realized today that I've been going here for almost ten years.

I love their teriyaki and I am thankful for the people who work there. They've always made me and my family feel welcome and appreciated as customers.

I went here for lunch yesterday to try something new. The lady helped me out and did a good job.
The rice and chicken were pretty decent, but I wasn't a big fan of the salad.
I would go here again without the salad.

We did Uber eats today 2/22/2022 and know it travled a bit to get to our house. We spent roughly 70$ to get a feel of the restaurant. There were several things to note: first, the ramen was not traditional the ingredients were in the broth (pre mixed) the egg was cooked in the broth not hard boiled as it should be. Second, the "salad" was brown and we received enough for two bites of iceberg lettuce. Third the katsu Chicken was flavorless and was drowned in something that tasted like a very bland ketchup making it soggy. Fourth, the Miso was separated and tasted like mold. Fifth the ramen while eating it we found the tails were still on the shrimp and some other crustaceous bits that were not edible. Sixth, they actually had octopus in the seafood option for the ramen this was a win! Seventh, the heart attack stuffed jalapenos were okay just very soggy/falling apart. Eighth the sushi was okay as well pretty basic. Ninth, the items lol post stickers and tempura shrimp that came in the katsu bento box were good and not pictured as I ate them first. You do get a large scoop of white rice that for me was untouched due to the katsu Chicken not being what it should of been. Tenth, the sofshell crab tempora was great overall and my favorite item, and would recommend it! My husband's favorite despite what was pointed out above was the ramen, to me it was bland which he agrees with.

I've been here a few times and usually like the food. I ordered a sashimi combination on Uber eats that was $18.99 and supposed to come with miso soup. They gave me the tiniest pieces of fish (two snapper, three salmon, and two tuna... Not a good selection) and no miso soup. The rest of the order was okay, but I won't be ordering again.

12.99 for a caterpillar roll that was basically empty, there was so little eel meat inside I could barely see or taste it. Super disappointed, will not be ordering food here again.

Fried rice oily and cold. They use dehydrated peas and carrots and I found 1 speck of egg-just not good. Packaged spring rolls and goyza together which got drenched in condensation from the to-go box and didn’t include sauce of any kind. Very cold all around. The spring rolls were inedible and had a terrible mushy texture inside. Now the udon— my husband was the only one brave enough to taste the beef which was chewy and in his words “ seemed like it was pulled from another dish and rinsed off” . Gross. Time to open your dining room if you can’t handle to-go. Yikes

Literally the grossest sushi I ever ate. Shrimp tempora was uncooked in the center, the dragon roll was bland and warm, I ate 2 bites and threw a 60$ order in the trash. Yokes makes better sushi at 1/2 the cost. The sweet and sour chicken, tasted like terrioki chicken and was wood dry. Just disappointed in buying garbage for dinner. I think I could dumpster dive And have ade eaten better. Never again, lesson learned. 00000 stars....

I moved here from Seattle and this by far looks terrible! The bi bim bap doesn't look appetizing. Not enough meat, the egg is over cooked. The teriyaki is precooked and dry. My search continues for decent Asian food.

Whatever you do, don't order from here on door dash. Ordered the short ribs and all I got was burnt charcoal black ribs and burnt black grossness throughout my rice, they packaged a can of soda with meal in the freaking box with the food. So gross, never again!!

Ordered takeout Bento Box. The salmon was way overcooked, the sashimi did not seem fresh, and the noodles were no better than grocery store deli case quality. But they were friendly and perhaps it was an off night. I still wouldn't go back.

Two stars because the Yakisoba I recieved tasted fine.
However... You cannot convince me the sushi is fresh. I had a simple order of a Philadelphia roll and an order of Tako sashimi (octopus). The rice was falling apart and not holding shape at all. The cream cheese and fish in the Philly roll was warm! Tako is probably my favorite thing to order at a sushi bar and this was the worst tasting Tako I have ever eaten. I couldn't even finish it because of how off-putting it tasted. After two bites of the sushi, I threw it all away. I will not be returning and will advise others to do the same.

Google maps showing conveyor belt sushi. We decidednto check it out, end up staring at the front door Note attached to it. The first time I ate here, I got food poisoning. I wanted to give them another try, and had several successful food ventures (just didn't eat what I had the first time). Then, the last time I ordered, the food was ICE cold, undercooked, and honestly tasted disgusting. I will never order here again. Giving it 3 stars because it was decent for a while, even given my first experience, but after this last time I'm done.

The sushi rice was all wrong, texture completely off. Tastes/feels/falls apart like steamed normal rice rather than sushi rice which ruined my entire meal considering I only got sushi. At the very least the rice was fully cooked not hard like some places but that's all I can say for it. Wife liked her food (not sushi) but this is my review not hers lmao. I will never come here again this literally ruined my day I just wanted sushi ffs. Proper sticky sushi rice is really not that hard to get right. I've had better sushi from Fred Meyer. Wish I could get my money back, I feel like crying.
