Had an absolute great time yesterday at Izumi for lunch. Took pics of most of the items, only missed like 3 plates. Tastes even better than it looks, but looks great too. Delicious food, consistent kind service and great ambiance! I highly recommend this place 😋

First time at this sushi joint looking for some good fried sushi. So far the cowboy roll is my favorite- VERY expensive but delicioso 🤤. I ordered takeout twice while visiting Spokane. I didn't eat inside but the atmosphere seems nice and chill. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I ordered fried sushi both times and each time they were really good. I also ordered the Mongolian beef and I liked it too. The meat was tender well flavored and they had a mild option which is a must for me bc of my GERD I can't eat spicy foods. But man the price for the sushi. Another thing I didn't appreciate was the auto 10% gratuity that is added but I had a take out order so I didn't feel it was justifiable (that's why the 3 stars). I never spent that much on sushi for one person. I pretended it was my birthday to justify the cost in my mind😑. Restaurant is located in a plaza that's hard to navigate and parking was a challenge. They forgot my sauces on the first order but rectified it fast with apologies. I do recommend this place and I will visit again to try non sushi items on the menu.

Glad I checked this place out. Sleek industrial decor vibe with chilled atmosphere and amazing background music. Service was INCREDIBLE. Had the ol' standby of many a sushi joint, the "Avocado bomb", and miso soup for appetizers. I liked the lobster "tempura" roll and the shrimp tempura roll and the sashimi appetizer. But when I tried my old stand-by of nigiri I chose my usual salmon but also decided to be a little adventurous and selected the "fatty" tuna nigiri as well. TERRIBLE mistake! That fatty tuna was just TOO "fatty" and in order not to ruin anyone's appetite I won't say what it felt like going down (but that's just my personal preference, I'm sure SOMEONE must like it if it's on the menu...) next time I'll try the "medium fatty" or plain regular tuna nigiri.
The shrimp tempura roll was also very scrumptious.
I came back a few days later to try the classic "deluxe" lobster roll, without the tempura treatment and also had salmon nigiri again as well. The salmon melted in the mouth splendidly.. and The classic deluxe lobster roll is out of this world!!!🔥🍣❤️🔥 DEFINITELY returning for that.
One of the very few x's I've not regretted paying such a large spending amount when dining out. Very exclusive sushi experience and would happily repeat.
One thing I absolutely LOVE about this place is they have a FULL wine and cocktail menu separate from the dining menu—sushi connoisseurs can tell you that's extremely hard to come by at these types of Japanese bistros. They usually are limited to sake, Asian brand beer and less than a handful of types of wines which is unfortunate because while I enjoy sake, I don't want it every single time I eat out @sushi establishment —which is usually @ least once a week. The first time I ordered sake, but the 2nd visit I ordered a classic Mojito, which is my favorite cocktail. It was pretty good.
I am looking forward to returning and trying more selections.
NOTE: The last four or five photos are the "classic deluxe" lobster roll (and avocado bomb) I had during my 2nd visit and not the "tempura" lobster roll in the 1st two photos which I had my 1st time here.

We have been in search for a good sushi restaurant since we moved from Portland to Spokane. I’m happy to announce that we have finally found our place ✨✨✨Don’t be overwhelmed by the amount of choices on the menu - they have a good mix for everyone! Fresh, raw rolls, tempura, fried, regular common rolls, new and intriguing rolls, sweet and spicy.. YUM!
Here’s what we had in our favorite order:
- Cowboy: YUMMY smoked wagyu, SO delish (roll to the far right)
- Mango: fresh and sweet as a nice addition to a spicy dish (second roll to the right)
- Kamikaze: Roll to the far left with smoked salmon
- Bruce Lee: lots of fresh fish; also verrrrry good and a little spice
- Flying dragon: very close to a SPICY🌶️ cilantro salad 😅 (roll in the middle)
Plain negori sake was also a very nice, refreshing addition :)

Delicious food; the meal was perfect, tasty, and amazing
great atmosphere; the television was on in the bar but not throwing sound. The music was just enough to cover queer conversation but not so loud you couldn't hear your own thoughts.
Visited 4 months ago
Very disappointed with the food. Average taste with portions that they should be ashamed to charge what they do. $12 roll = 5 small pieces of sushi. Umi Sushi in Kendall Yards equally priced, far better tasting food and portions that are to be expected of a sushi place. Plus an automatic gratuity included in the bill?? The service is great and building is very nice but I'll never return.

I'm pretty picky about sushi, and I typically go to one sushi place in the valley. Izumi was fantastic! One of our rolls came out with "fog" floating around it, and the volcano roll had a beautiful little flame on the plate. Need i say more?

The Mongolian beef was to die for!
My daughter enjoyed her sushi. I wish they offered oolong tea. That was the only thing that I was sad about the atmosphere wasn’t very cozy for a winter meal, but I’m sure this place is great in the summer with their outdoor dining.

I’ve eaten here a handful of times and as the years have gone by the quality has gone down quite a bit, unless they hired a new cook. I ordered the orange chicken and rice to go and it was very dry like it had sat out all day and was 99% breading. After this I may just steer clear, as I threw all of the food in the garbage and lost my appetite.

It was a busy nite and there were alot of people on the waiting list so I asked if I could just sit on the bar for dinner, which I believe the Manager obliged. Within a minute, the Bartender came and asked for my order. I ordered a glass of water and a Godzilla Roll and a Lava Roll. The Rolls came out in no time and they were very delicious and filling. What really impressed me but my visit was, as I sat on the bar, how the Bartender, Shelby (her name was on my receipt), ruled the bar. She did an OUTSTANDING job providing drinks for the customers and still managed to check on the customers who sat on the bar. Just wanted to send my appreciation to Shelby for making sure I enjoyed my evening at Izumi's, even in a busy nite. I look forward to my next dinner there.

Sushi is good but service is the slowest we’ve had in town. I can understand on a busy evening but during a slow midday lunch with only 5-6 other tables sat and 4 sushi chefs behind the bar, there’s no reason we should be waiting 20min for food. Not to mention we had no wait staff come back to the table to check on us, take new drink orders, etc within that time. Truly disappointing especially for the price that’s being paid for the food.

The quality of the staff at the bar doesn't match the quality of the food and the chef that make it in the back.
This is by far the best sushi in town. But, you are in Zag town, and when the zags are playing, the bars in this town are always full of fans. Not here, sat down with my girl to watch the zags, bar tender didn't:
1. Know how to change the channel and said she had to get permission as someone else could have asked to watch the current game. You are the bar tender you don't know that? You don't know how to change the channel?
2. When she said she would ask how to change it or if she can, never followed up with us, had to ask again.
3. When she found out their TV is on you tube, she said it's likely not on you tube. Well how would she know if she cannot even navigate to the the channel.
4. Another fan alked in and asked how about the zags game. She said it's likely not on you tube, the patron held his phone up and said yes it is. Watching it now.
***note: he had to watch it from his phone.
5. She still didn't change it because she didn't know how. She said she could call the owner but.....
6. She asked us if we wanted more drinks, we told her yes and another roll then came back around 10 minutes later and asked if we wanted more drinks, at that time I said nevermind and asked for my check because she blew us off about more drinks, more rolls and the zags game.
You are in zag town, the university is down the street.
I would have bought more drinks. More rolls. But it was clear your bar tender did not want to work or make more money. Your hostess at the front door was slouched over and leaning on the podium.pick up a Broom, clean a window, do something.
How are you I going to be the best sushi in town with the worse bar staff?
Do better.

The best sushi I've ever eaten in my life. Clean location. Amazing king waitress willing to recommend the best Japanese experience. I love this place. I won't go to any other sushi restaurant in Spokane. Try the tiger roll if you decide to visit. It's amazing. Thank you guys.
The above review was three years ago. Today, I went to Izumi and Jordyn took my to go order. Despite I left my VIP card at home. She was so kind in giving me the 10% off as a VIP customer. Jordyn is a sweet wait byress. She smiles all the time, and give you a great service. I would wish all waitresses in Spokane, would be like her. Thank you so much Jordyn, you are the best!
P.S. I tried the Fried Calamari don't miss it! The Egg Flower soup is also amazing!
Summer 2022. Judy is the senior waitress at Izumi. She gave me my VIP card. When I go to Izumi. She is so sweet and always recommend me a new try. The service that provides Judy is not a standard attention. She goes beyond that. By far Judy is my favorite waitress in town. I love her. Thank you, Judy.
Fall 2024. After the winter remodeling. Izumi is fancier than before. The new facility is a lounge-style surrounding with a wider and exotic distribution. New crew have added to the staff. Even all the guys are amazing. I must mention Kyle in the bar which is super nice. He is our favorite bartender since his old days in Applebee's at the 29th. I also want to mention Olivia and Shell thank both take care of me. They update my order if I change my mind and give me my VIP discount even if I drop my wallet in my car. Thank you Kyle, Shell, and Olivia for being awesome! Love you

My wife and I love Izumi. Personally, we believe it's the best sushi spot in Spokane, and we also think it's one of a small number of restaurants in Spokane that could reasonably compete in a larger city. Food's always great, service is generally excellent, and the new redesign has really elevated this spot. Already looking forward to the next time we stop in!

Food was good as usual and last night was the perfect night to enjoy eating outside. There was a table of young women behind us being exceptionally loud, so much so we struggled to hear each other, so we asked our waiter if he could ask them to tone-it-down. - it's not a bar, it's a restaurant. Instead of doing that, he asked us if we wanted to move. We said no, we'd prefer they respect the other diners around them. He refused to do that and instead told us 'this is a public space' and again asked us if we wanted to move. We said no, we chose to sit outside, and as he walked away he snapped, 'so did they'.
We understand the restaurant is not responsible for the way people dining in their establishment act, but that was a terrible, rude and unacceptable response. We did speak to the manager on the way out and honestly, she couldn't have cared less that that was our experience.
We won't go back, ever.

My wife ordered food thinking it was going to be $15 for the Teryaki Bento and ended up being $27 when I went in to pick it up. Apparently they have a dinner bento and a lunch bento and the price is pretty far apart. I was shocked that they only charged me for the lunch bento but gave me the dinner one and said it’s no big deal.
The food was amazing: incredibly fresh, large portions, and absolutely delicious. The tempura was fresh and cooked to perfection. I loved the breading on the shrimp, and while I normally dislike California rolls, theirs was exquisite.

They have a great variety of both Chinese and Japanese style foods. I have never been disappointed with their Beef Teriyaki Bento boxes or Yu Hsing Pork. What I like the most about them the most is their hot and sour soup. It is the best that I have had in Spokane. It is so hot and spicy it can cure small colds. My only complaint is their sushi costs a lot even if we use our VIP discount cards.

Update: 11/17/2023 really sad they are closed for renovations but we've come here several more timesI discovered their chicken fried rice is soy free and I can have it. I have gone with this each time I've eaten there now! Hands down the best fried rice I've ever had!
Will come here again the sushi rolls are amazing very filling and it's bigger than you think it'll be. We ordered an appetizer of fried calamari it wasn't great pretty chewy and all you could taste was the fried batter, and oddly it was served with lemon juice. The flaming volcano roll wasn't spicy at all just had a fire in the center. I got the happy roll and it was good. We also ordered dinner as we never had been there before and ordered meals in addition to the rolls which we barely finished. Had to take the Coconut walnut shrimp home and general tso. It was kinda loud there but that's due to all the people.

Very tasty, regular restaurant prices. That's really all that matters. Wish they brought the food out faster, but that's not really in their control. They do everything neatly by hand as far as I could tell, so that's worth waiting a few extra minutes.

Went here with my fiancée (who has a shellfish allergy - hasn’t been a problem at any sushi place) ordered our food and let our server know of the allergy well beforehand - after 3 pieces of Nigiri she got really sick, a mild allergic reaction and then they brought out her veggie roll plated on the same plate as a crab roll- I asked them to remake hers - watched the server have a long conversation with another server and then return just a couple of minutes later saying they had remade it - my fiancée found a fish egg on it. Needless to say she did not eat it. I don’t know what kind of health and safety protocols they’re following but cross contamination definitely seems to be an issue. We for sure will NOT be back. We are lucky this was a mild reaction and not more severe.

I'll start off by saying we had an amazing waitress who took care of us perfectly. Secondly, the sushi was the best I've had in Spokane, every cut tasted fresh and was so savory. Our biggest complaint was we were sat next to the outdoor seating on a day when it was cooler, so we all got a little chilly.

Fantastic sushi and other dishes. First visit had one of the sashimi boats and everything literally melted in your mouth. Second visit had the beef tataki appetizer and it was simply decadent. The server brought us rice to soak up the delicious sauce which was a solid call. We also had the lobster roll with was yummy and a couple other specialty rolls and everything was really good. Good service and cute and lively space with patio.

This place is as good as Sushi Cafe in Renton, WA. They are in a great location, great decor and excellent sushi! I'm very particular about my sushi and truly think this place is the best spot in Spokane/eastern WA/nearest ID to go to. The only thing is that they aren't so great at spelling "Echo" (my name, but hey, what can ya do). So happy my office manager recommended it! Plus they offer rice paper or other roll options, instead of just seaweed. Very neat!

Would give 5 start except for a couple of reasons. I tip well at least 25% every time when I dine in places but don't understand why there's a 10% charge for carry out in a state with the highest min wage ( which I'm for) also the parking can be a bit hit & miss. Other than that great food, great staff

I've gotten both takeout and dine in from Izumi plenty of times, and it's always delicious and punctual. They are very cognizant of soy content, and there's always something on the menu for me as a soy intolerant. I'm so happy I can eat sushi again!

Food is always great. I usually order over the phone and pick it up 15 min later for a take away meal.

Izumi is the best sushi in town. Every time I go in I have zero complaints. Always great service and always great food!

Food was fine but the service was horrible. Kelsey disappeared after she dropped off my partners food and never was seen again until he was almost done and I was still waiting for my food. Servers everywhere rolling silverware and a chef popping his head around twice looking for her. Tried to finally cancel with a different server as he was done and ready to go she went back and shortly afterwards here came back Kelsey. Just dropped it with no explanation and no apology. I said something and was replied with I was stocking stuff. Date night is not for eating separately, I do that at home normally feeding my toddler first. Disappointing experience, the chirashi probably would have tasted better if I didn’t have a sour taste in my mouth.

Must have been a bad day, my food was so oily it was nauseating and I had the soft shell roll and I felt it was lacking in flavor. I did say I wanted spicy but that should not have been oily and it had no spice taste at all. I am no expert but have definitely had better. My waiter was wonderful so that helped the experience some.

Lots is seating, great sushi and delicious calamari.

It was really good, our waiter was really knowledgeable and gave good advice on what to order.

Ordered take out as most other sushi places were closed at 7 on a Monday.
Spent over $100. Our order was messed up with no real separation or indication of which rolls were which. Food was very plain. I normally spend half of this, for more & better sushi. Honestly, had better store bought sushi. Will not order again.

Amazing food we had the Godzilla roll, banana roll, New Orleans and Washington. It was all amazing. Service was great. It was busy. There was a long wait. Parking lot was full. Highly recommend making reservations.

Our server was a young mam names Kyle & I highly recommend him. He took good care of us including keeping our waters full which a lot of servers fail at.
A spoiler alert about the food- I lived in Japan, so I am picky! This was my second visit to Izumi
Izumi has one of the best Miso soups around. In addition to this, I had a new menu item- avocado bomb because the description reminded me if another restaurant's dish. It was tasty, but if they grilled it, I didn't notice & that adds to the flavor. We also had a yellowtail nigiri- fish was fresh, but it was sliced a bit thick for my taste. A grilled salmon skin handroll was tasty, but it stays with you, so if burping salmony goodness will bother you- probably not for you! I live crayfish & took a chance on their sushi version. Unfortunately I can't recommend it. My friend ate his but said he wouldn't order it again. I couldn't eat mine. Crayfish is popular in Cajun cuisine, but I wasn't expecting Cajun sushi! I like spice, but I want it to compliment what I'm eating & this just overpowered the ingredients- including the nori it was wrapped in! Good news is our server offered another choice & took it off the bill without our asking.
I also discovered they have a decent cabernet which is a pleasant surprise for a sushi place.
Parking is plentiful, but the restaurant gets loud when it's full, so come early if you're hearing impaired! I will return.

The food and service is always great but last time my friends and I were in, we experienced something NOT so great. We had a party of 5 plus a newborn baby. The checks came and we noticed that the waitress had forced gratuity on us. We asked her why because the menu clearly states that a party if 6 will be required forced gratuity. The waitress informed us that the NEWBORN BABY, who took up ZERO space, didn’t require any service, counted as our 6th person! WHAT?! We asked the waitress about it and she said “management counts ANY children as a person.” This would make sense if the child had been older, using dishes, taking up a seat, making a mess, etc. but he was literally in a carrier sleeping. I don’t know why “management” is okay with this type of rule, but it’s ridiculous and just another way to get us to make up for you paying your employees a low wage.

Some of the best sushi and best service I've ever had. Total gem of a restaurant! Will be back ASAP.

We had a group of eight and they accommodated us very well and the service was great. The menu was big, it was hard to choose from all of it. But had options for everyone.
I would go again for sure!

The best sushi restaurant in Spokane! From the decorations to taste, everything is perfect here! We went there in 6 for dinner and the restaurant was very busy. I would recommend reservations if you’re going there with 3 people or more because there was barely a table left when we get there and luckily, our table was reserved🤩

Been here three times in the last 2 months! It has a really good location since it's right off of S. Regal and near other restaurants (Twigs, Wadell's) and my work. Parking is a bit difficult though because there are so many businesses in the same complex.
I highly recommend their Cowboy Roll and the Beef Tataki!

The food is good, don't get me wrong. But the value isn't there, very pricey for what it is.

I don’t like to compare restaurants it’s not fair. It’s hard in this case everyone has raved about this place so I decided to try it. I went for lunch and got the bento box. And the Bruce lee, as well as another role i can’t remember it was nothing to write home about. The sushi has no flavor it almost tasted like it was frozen for a long time. The bento box teriyaki sauce was so sweat you could use it as cupcake frosting and you wouldn’t know the difference. The green tea also had no flavor , most green tea is bitter and has the typical grassy flavor this had none. The two star rating in this case is mostly because the waitress was really nice an attentive. The food on the other hand was not worth it in my opinion. If you like sushi i recommend Avocado role on the north side, UMI in Kendall yards.

Amazing food in a very small restaurant. There was food for seafood lovers and non-seafood lovers.

I would give a zero star if I could. I Was told they were “not selling sushi only hot food for take out order for the next hour” so I called at the hour mark then they proceeded to tell me that it was going to be an additional 45 mins for the sushi to be made and they were not like exquisite dishes. Mind you this is at 7:30pm

Located up on the south hill, easy place to find and parking lot is always open. Walked in and was greeted immediately, staff was awesome and sushi as well as our sides came out fast. Food tasted fresh and the Bistro inside itself was a pleasant experience. No complaints here, thanks for the sushi! Will be coming back!

Super awesome experience!! Everything was very fresh and our server (I believe her name was Morgan) as amazing, nice, and very knowledgeable!! My dish was beautiful, and my friend who had never had sushi before had a great experience. Very good time!!!

Im trying to like this place because it’s nearby my house. I’m giving my honest review. When you walk in this place has a nice atmosphere. I have been to many sushi restaurants in portland. This restaurant is nothing special. I don’t care about the price and portions if it’s good. Disappointed again and again. Some of their raw fish just taste not right, smelled slight rotten. Just threw me off. Also with take out, they will charge you for gratuity without telling you. Go somewhere else like sushi blossom.

Our favorite sushi place! We love their vegan/vegetarian options and they have the absolute BEST chow mein in town - hands down! Keep in mind, it's a tad greasy (as it should be) and a highly addictive umami bomb! We've asked their team a couple of times about the sauce and finally heard that it's a secret recipe!

I had some sushi rolls and the Mongolian Beef. The tuna rolls were of decent quality and the rice to fish ratio was good. Mongolian Beef totally worth it. The beef was from good cuts and the overall experience made me order it afterwards. It's that good.
