Chef Shiro Kashiba has delighted Seattle diners with his culinary artistry and craft for over five decades. Located next to the Pike Place Market, Sushi Kashiba offers the highest standard Japanese cuisine that sushi lovers have come to expect from who the Seattle Times calls, the “Sushi Sensei” of Seattle.
6 of us came to have their omakase. The fish quality was amazing, and our sushi chef, Derek did an amazing job explaining about every single sushi. We definitely felt like we got our money's worth. Every single bite was an experience itself. Thank you Derek for making it even more special with your attentiveness and service!

Kashiba is an experience unlike any of the other Seattle omakases. Food is elevated and carefully selected to make the next one pop. From the freshest salmon to the most decadent fatty tuna, each piece of our 21-piece dinner kept us hungry for more!
Our host Mark and our chef Christoph are fantastic, often providing insights into the food and drinks we were served. Shiro must be proud to have such fantastic team members working with him at his restaurant!
Please consider the $175 sushi bar omakase experience when coming here - you won't regret it!

After a long wait, I finally had the chance to visit the famous Sushi Kashiba. Upon entering, I saw a simple yet elegant restaurant. The staff were all friendly and carefully explained each dish with attentive service.
We chose the Omakase set, which included seven courses. The first course was a selection of appetizers, including pickled items, sashimi, and fried dishes, each distinct from those in typical restaurants. The second course was a tuna hand roll—simple ingredients, but the taste was excellent.
The main nigiri courses began with the third dish, featuring a wonderfully textured toro (tuna belly). The fourth dish was tofu, served with a refreshing chilled broth that I especially liked.
Next came the fifth and sixth dishes, more nigiri, each with its unique flavor. Whether they’re top-notch depends on personal taste, but I particularly enjoyed the crispy, non-greasy fried shrimp head, which had a very rich shrimp flavor.
The final course was tamago (Japanese omelet) and miso soup—a satisfying end to the meal that, while seemingly small, left me feeling full after finishing the soup.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. While it isn’t cheap, it’s a fantastic experience, especially since I was lucky enough to meet Chef Kashiba and exchange a few words. It truly made the whole experience worth it.

So many wonderful cuts of fish. I don't usually like uni but the uni was incredible. It had this insane fruity melon taste, completely different from the seawater flavor I usually find with uni.
We ended up getting the additional 3 pieces as add on and the chef made us each a special creation that was awesome.
I was expecting something over hyped but iw asked away feeling so satisfied and content with the experience. I felt each oft he chefs possessed a high level of skill and attention to detail. Service all around was attentive but not smothering. Fantastic!!

More than half the raw seafood served was mushy and stale, with the cooked fish being way overcooked and dry.
Very surprised that a disciple of Jiro can only produce food of this level, certainly have tasted way better with lesser known chefs.
Wished you could have respected the ingredients more.

We came here for the omakase and was looking forward to the same experience at Takai by Kashiba in Bellevue. The fish quality was good but less variety of other kind of dishes. And for some reason our chef did not serve us uni while the other chefs served uni to their guests. I was disappointed since uni is my favorite. Dessert was also disappointing. I expected ice cream. I dont know why our chef called eel tempura over rice a dessert. Or maybe I didn't catch what he was saying since the group next to us at the bar was loud. Tamago dessert was okay.
For comparison, Takai by Kashiba served us chawan mushi, fish and shishito tempura and ice cream. I understand that it's chef's choice, but I can't help comparing it with Takai. Service was very friendly though, which we appreciate.

The best sushi I've ever had, including what I've had in Maui and Kauai. The omakase counter chef service was amazing. While we didn't get Chef Shiro Kashiba, Christof (sp?) was fantastic. This might have ruined sushi at other places for me. This was a wonderful anniversary dinner for us and we will be back! I wish there was a place closer to Bothell this good!

The service was absolutely amazing! Ambiance is a bit noisy. Tables are close together. The fish was well prepared and seasoned, definitely above average but not exceptional in my opinion. This restaurant is also pricey, especially for nigiri. Our bill was $500+ which includes alcohol.

TLDR: I was incredibly excited to try Sushi Kashiba for its rich history since I'm from out of town, and while the food held up to expecations the service unfortunately did not.
The omakase quality was absolute HEAVEN, with every bite being nothing but delectable - the intentionality behind the set's 21-piece order was was wonderful, and having fresh sushi presented from the local Puget Sound to Spain and Japan was just stunning.
Now to the not-so-stellar part: the service itself. I went in solo, and my chef (and I do know his name but withholding for privacy :) !) barely interacted with me save for telling me where my sushi was from, compared to the animated chef nearby that was giving his customers a wealth of information such as how to approach their sushi, what textures/flavors to watch, and being active in getting to know his group. I completely understand everyone has off days, but there was a lack of hospitality for the price point I was paying. I tried to initiate a little conversation, but that died a bit quickly, so I was left being solo quiet for long portions of the 1.75 hr omakase 🥲.
Additionally, because I was sat toward the end of the counter nearest the door, my chef split his time between prepping orders for tables and prepping omakase for myself compared to the full dedication that others not near the end had from their chefs. While logistical (hey, someone has to make sushi!), I was left with a strong impression that the elevated experience I was supposed to receive at the bar counter for was in fact no different from being served at a table and not worth paying the premium price (which I know should not be true/be the case). My actual server was being attentive with drinks, refilling water, and checking in on me however.

We went for $175 omakase dinner last night. Food was good but not amazing. Very disappointed that the chef served me a sushi like this. It looked like someone had a bite already. Very bad presentation. This is not acceptable for a Japanese restaurant especially for this price.

Words alone can't explain how incredible it is to sit at the bar at Sushi Kashiba—it's something that simply needs to be experienced to be understood. Every piece of sushi could easily be the "best" piece most people have ever eaten, but here, you get that experience 20+ times if you choose the omakase. Chef Derek took great care of me, my dad, and the other two guests to our left. There aren't enough stars to give. This is a culinary experience like no other. However, it's best to already have an appreciation for sushi, as this experience may be lost on some.

Came here to celebrate a birthday. We all loved it! Sushi was fresh and flavorful. Would definitely come again. The only thing they need to change is that on your bday, they give you a small pour/tasting of their house made kombucha. No cake. No dessert. No chocolate or champagne. I thought that was a letdown (even though it wasn’t my birthday). Not everyone likes kombucha and it was certainly a weird dessert.

At this price points, we had high expectations, however the sushi was just OK. We did a la carte, a variety of nigiri, two rolls and the chicken karaage. The highlights were the marinated tuna nigiri, scallop nigiri, and chicken karaage. The rice unfortunately did not have the correct sushi consistency, the fish itself was a small, thin portion and the rolls fell apart upon eating. The service was excellent however and they were very accommodating. We are big sushi fans, travel frequently and unfortunately we left underwhelmed.

It was an “OK” sushi place. Kind of pretentious. Expected better from somewhere a block away from the water. You can pay a lot less and get better in my opinion. Staff super friendly though. And good sake selection.

Absolutely stunning, highlight of the trip, worth coming to seattle alone to eat here. We did the omakase at the chef counter, and it easily ranks in my top 3 meals of all time. Get a reservation, eat what they put in front of you, be blissful.

I’ve had omakase at various price points on both coasts and in Japan, and this was hands down the worst I’ve ever had, regardless of price. My sister and I went for the "omakase" dinner (not the "peak" or "chef's counter" options), and while some of these issues might be forgivable for a budget omakase, they’re unacceptable at this price point. The total came to $422 with tax and a mandatory 20% service charge. Here’s why it didn’t live up to expectations:
Nigiri Rice: The rice was cold, soggy, and lacked seasoning, which ruined the 12 or so pieces of nigiri we had. My sister said it tasted like supermarket sushi, and I can’t disagree.
Inconsistent Portions: The fish portions were inconsistent between our two servings, and the rice mounds were different sizes. Before we even took a bite, we could tell something was off just by looking at it. Eventually, we started eating just the fish to avoid the rice (see above).
Appetizers Served Ice Cold: The meal started with a trio of appetizers, including sashimi that was basically frozen. The quality of the fish wasn’t great to begin with, but when it’s that cold, the texture is like eating ice cream. The broccolini and mushrooms were drowned in sesame, and the squash jelly was overly sweet.
Cocktail Miss: My sister ordered a cocktail similar to an umeshu soda. It had a nice fragrance but zero flavor. The server did warn us it was "light," but still—why serve something that bland?
Overly Acidic Ginger: I’ve had all kinds of pickled ginger, but this one was way too acidic and completely overpowered the sushi.
Temperature Issues: Almost everything was served cold. The trio of appetizers, the agedashi tofu, and the tamago were all cold. The only hot items were the deep-fried shrimp head and the miso soup at the end.
All in all, this was a major letdown. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for quality sushi, especially at this cost.

First time in Seattle. I seek out sushi in any new city, and I’ve had a lot of good sushi, but wow, Sushi Kashiba is the best of the best. I did a la carte from the nigiri menu (lots of tunas, some salmon, amberjack, shrimp) and everything was fabulous. Still thinking about the otoro.
I was a solo dinner and able to walk in and sit at the cocktail bar at 5pm on Sunday. It was empty. So if even you don’t make a reservation, swing by and see if you can sit at the bar.

WORTH THE PRICE!! I typically don’t go to expensive places like this, but did so for a special occasion. The Omakase was quite literally the greatest meal I’ve ever had in my entire life. The sushi was the absolute highest quality and buttery. Everything melts in your mouth. The servers explain every course and exactly how to eat it. I had no clue food could make me feel so good. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. I will never forget it and couldn’t recommend it enough!

This has to be the best sushi experience of my life so far. I got the Omakase and it did not disappoint. Each course was served beautifully with an explanation and combination of flavors that was just exquisite
Our server, Brandon, was amazing and had so many recommendations and was a delight to deal with for our entire visit.
Also, hats off to the bartender for coming up with a couple mocktails. I’m not a drinker so sometimes it is hard to find a place that comes up with some interesting variations and they did a really good job.

Absolutely amazing nigiri, black cod, and tempura. Some of the best Japanese food I’ve had outside of Japan. Fresh fish, subtle and exquisite flavoring, impeccable service. When the waiter found out I was actually from Japan originally, he told the 83-year old master chef, who came to greet our table personally. What an inspiring gentleman-chef he is, still passionate about his craft and so alive. A feast to remember. Will certainly return on our next trip to Seattle.

Second visit. Service horrible - wait staff very aloof, disengaged and really diminished our experience. Both waitrr and food servers. Only animated talk with us was to excitedly explain a 20% gratuity was included. Don’t mind that but with sub par service, the restaurant simply compounds a bad experience. Salmon collar and black cod would have been fantastic yet riddled with so many bones it was impossible to eat. Drink requests seemed very challenging to our waiter and he had to get approval on simple variations on common cocktails. Unless perhaps you get or want the lively chefs table, the rest of the restaurant atmosphere is very tired looking and does not put off a good vibe

Do not waste your money here. Sushi is always my favorite so I try ton of sushi restaurants. Been there last month and we had omakase that cost us $400 bill with gas station quality of fish. Never in my life extremely disappointed with high-end sushi restaurant ever. Not only they were all boring, serves were whatever, nothing special, i don’t think he gave a damn to our feedback either. But how could you serve that kind of old seafood and try to hide it with a lot wasabi that we have to ask them to not put it in the next dish. Uni, scallop taste disgusting like it’s been there for weeks. I tell all my friends and family not come here due to unhonest business runner. I regret not taking their negative review more serious. Over hype and over price for sure. You never know if you can be a bad luck one and they should not treat you like that either. Stay away.

Is this place for real? 120 dollars for 8 pieces of sushi. I felt robbed. And is it the best sushi I have ever had? Not even close. There are 26 dollars sushi places that deliver superior quality than this. Absolute rip off, a tourist trap, and a waste of money.

Some pieces had temperature control issues--like the bluefin tuna hand-roll, which was too cold--and the doneness of the shari (sushi rice) was inconsistent in other pieces. The fish was aged very well and cut with great care, however. Overall very good value for money. This place is still as fantastic as it was 8 years ago, the first time I had a meal here.

Wonderfully fresh sushi. Dined here in Aug 2024 and had the chef’s omakase at the sushi bar. The highlight for me was the super incredibly tasty uni, and the live botan ebi. The geoduck was a unique offering that was also quite tasty.
Believe the reviews when they say you have to line up at least 1 1/2 hours before the restaurant opens to get in on the first seating at the sushi bar. I was 4th in line by 3:45 (they open at 5)!

Came in on a Monday for the 5:00PM chefs counter omakase. Arrived at 4:45PM and got seated right away. Got lucky in being seated with chef Shiro Kashiba.
Service was great, 5 stars. Each course was perfectly timed. Chef wiped our sushi plate after each course, water was refilled before it was empty, and any finished dishes were removed from the table almost immediately.
Atmosphere was okay, 4 stars. Decor is modern and clean, place is well lit with natural light during the daytime. Sound level is a little louder than most other sushi restaurants so it was a little difficult to hear the chef. Sushi display case was blocking the chef’s prep counter so you don’t really get to see them making the food unless you are in the first 4 seats in the back corner.
Unfortunately, the food was just okay, 3 stars. Sushi is prepared traditional Japanese style, meaning no fancy toppings, seasonings, or sauces. FYI, this also means you are not provided with soy sauce for dipping the sushi yourself. Ultimately, the fish is fresh, but plain and simple. Adding on to this note, the selection of nigiri was nothing fancy in my opinion (and they do not really welcome any changes or requests- with the exception of allergies). If you take a look at the a la carte menu, the fish given are pretty much all the same as the regular menu, with only a few of the nigiri being special MP items. Also, if you read older reviews, the omakase items have not changed very much (if at all) over the years, making it a little less unique.
Sushi is served as sets. 23 items total. The meal started off with a negitoro hand roll. Then salmon set: sock eye, king, and seared king belly. After this was the tuna set: albacore, blue fin, fatty tuna, and marinated tuna. Agedashi tofu. Then white fish set: sea bream, striped jack, and flounder. Next shellfish set: sweet shrimp, geoduck, uni, and seared scallop. Miso soup. Last set: horse mackarel, pickled herring, flounder fin, and smoked king mackerel. Meal was finished off with unagi and tamago. I was too full to keep going, but those who ordered the additional 3 pieces received: albacore belly, oyster, and seared blue fin tuna collar.
Total price: $175 + tax and automatically added 20% service charge = $231 without drinks.
Overall, not a bad experience but I’ve definitely had better. If I had to re-order a la carte, I would really only choose a handful of the items that were served. This place is good for beginner or intermediate sushi eaters, but for avid sushi enthusiasts you likely will not be amazed. Glad I tried it, but probably will not again

We are totally inept when it comes to fine dining. This is the most high end we have ever gone for a meal.
It was really daunting, because we felt as though we would be out of our depth to be able to enjoy food we didn't have a deep knowledge of at the higher levels.
Our sushi chef was Derek, and we chose the Omakase. Derek was fantastic. Even if he was dead tired from the high standards and extensive prep work and clean up - it did NOT show. He kept his speed and precision the whole way through.
Derek was fun to learn with and made the meal feel relaxed, but respectful. Derek took the time to explain his work and gave more detail when asked.
The food was amazing. Every bite had its place and the progression on the meal from lighter fatties pieces to more heavy and salted pieces was wonderful. The dessert of Tamago and eel was wonderful and sweet.
Derek could probably tell we were out of our depth, but the wait staff and him did not make us feel like we didn't have a place to learn and enjoy which I'm sure for them can get old - but they didn't let on.
It was a perfect meal. Salmon, tuna, Mackerel, uni, scallop, shrimp . . . We left plenty full and with a huge respect for the ingredients they've presented us with.
Can't gush enough although we were already prepared to be easily impressed!
It was fun and may be a once in a lifetime experience for us. I was so happy and this meant so much to us and to have that excitement and expectation delivered upon was great.

Had high expectations due to the reviews and ownership group. But the omakase was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the money or hype. The fish was obviously not fresh and they attempted to mask the flavor by adding extra wasabi. This was extremely disappointing to me as we had reservations 2 months out. I've had the omakase set at Shiro's (original chef's location) and it was way better. There were no pieces that stood out and the best pieces that were served were ok at best. Save yourself some money if you were having high hopes of good omakase

I did the omakase at the sushi bar. I also opted for the extra 3 pieces and almost ran out of seating time.
This is probably my 5th omakase in Seattle and 10th in 4 states. I thought there was way too much mackerel nigiri. Uni was not very good, I found the soy sauce pairing overpowered it. Uni was not as creamy as usual. The fatty cuts were better ( tuna collar, salmon)
The omakase here is interesting, started with a tuna hand roll then a couple of salmon nigri then tuna nigri then miso then a bunch of mackerel nigiri and some othe white fish. Uni , geoduck, shrimp and scallop were also included. The desserts were an unagi roll and tamago. I think of this place as quite traditional, not a lot of interesting or complex flavors.
Our chef was chatty and made small talks with the 4 people in his section. He wiped the plate each time for sauce.
They don't take reservation for omakase seating at the bar. I would line up at 4pm. There is a coat and handbag/backpack check.

Seattle's hottest sushi restaurant. Omakase set dinner on chef counter is purely sushi....no sashimi, no first courses. Pace is too quick. Sushi were precut. Wasabi uses are from the powder form (cheapest). Sushi are not too bad but it is not really up to par with the better sushi restaurants. 1.45 hours were set for the meal experience and the bill will be infront of you automatically. No class. Business is pretty good, I guess not much competition. Lastly, 20% gratuity is a fixed fee here regardness of happy or not.

Edited to add: while I did not enjoy dining at sushi kashiba, I have to say their team has since gone above and beyond to remedy this.
Sushi kashiba ruined my first wedding anniversary. My partner and I are from NYC, and moved to Portland within the last year. The sushi in Portland hasn’t quite done it for us, so we drove up to Seattle after hearing about this place. We thought even if it’s not up to par with New York omakase, it would still be a nice meal. Sadly, sushi kashiba was far worse than I feared. Hours later, I’m still scratching my head wondering if we’d been duped. The uni was not fresh, the rice was dry, the fish were ice cold and chewy. The waiters said the most gimmicky things such as calling tempura a “sushi donut.” They tried to pass off a stick of cucumber shoved into 1/3 of a fish cake as a fancy amuse bouche. Please for the love of god stop hyping this place up, I’d rather spend $400 on grocery store sushi rolls instead.

What an awesome sushi spot! The interior was chic and nicely decorated when we visited for a Wednesday sushi dinner. Service throughout was kind and helpful, with great suggestions. The food we received as part of the "Peak" selection was all phenomenal - very high quality and delicious. The sake we tasted was similarly great. Absolutely will be back!

Absolutely worth the price. Excellent sushi and some of the best service we've received in Seattle.

Awesome sushi and sake selection, with outstanding service. Just be aware that portion sizes are kind of tapas like, so if you order a lot of rolls, be prepared to pay.

The food was good/ok but I wouldn't come back. There were smaller details that were missing, for example lack of consistency. An example, my husband and I had different tasting bites of gooey duck, where mine was overwhelming with wasabi. You may assume this is just our take on the taste but my husband actually dislikes wasabi and is sensitive to it while I typically like it. We didn't share this with the restaurant so it's not like it was purposeful. For the price I think I'd rather eat elsewhere where there's more consistency and the food is exceptional not just "good".

Transcendant

If I could give zero stars I would—the food is insanely overpriced for what you get. Honestly, I left feeling sick because of the poor quality of fish mixed with the wasabi that they put on for you. One of the worst meals of my life. You try and convince yourself it’s good for the price, we paid $400 for two people but it sucks.

Had the Pike tasting. The best piece of fish was the engawa, also known as flounder fin. Has a rich, buttery, collagen mouthfeel, with a hint of lemon or some sort of citrus. The hotate, or scallop, was my second favorite piece. I would go back and order a la carte after having a selection of different types of fish to try. The smoked salmon appetizer was beautiful and fresh tasting, but I don’t think I would order it again. The sweet egg dish was interesting, reminded me of what fortune cookies taste like once all chewed up, but with a spongy texture. Not a huge fan, but I’m glad I tried it. It was interesting to finish the entire meal with a bowl of miso soup, but it tasted good, and I enjoyed the warmth of the soup before walking back to my hotel. All in all, great quality food, modern/contemporary aesthetic, friendly staff, although a little pricey, I do highly recommend it!

We absolutely loved our experience at Sushi Kashiba! Highly recommend getting the Chef’s omakase set! We followed the Chef’s recommended preparation for each dish and it was incredible. The portions are perfect to enjoy a satisfying but not overindulgent dinner. The overall experience, food, and sake are top notch!

Amazing, that's all there is to it. Fish prepared so perfectly that it literally melts in your mouth. Have been thinking about this place since I was last here 2 years ago, and chef's counter omakase did not disappoint on this return trip. I'll be thinking of this meal for a long time to come!

Some of the best, if not the best sushi I have ever had. Excellent service. Very clean. Really cool location too.

What’s to say that hasn’t already been said? The finest sushi you will find in North America. Period. You are at Pike Place, in a restaurant with so much history and fine details that it is hard not to feel almost reverence . Nothing was missed and nothing was wanting.
If you want to experience as close to perfection as you can, come here.

Heard from a local sushi lover about where to go have good sushi in Seattle, and 加柴寿司came first. Luckily able to make a 5pm opening time reservation the day before. Already a line of 10 or so for the counter Omakase, yet we were seated at a table as reserved. Wait staff were very well educated, and quick for their service. For the sushi 🍣, my wife had the Peak sushi set, while I ordered à la carte nigiri I wanted to taste. Everything was nicely prepared and delicious 😋 Even enjoyed some off the menu specials the wait staff recommended which were all rare tasty experiences. Definitely a place for special occasions, and sophisticated foodies.

Spent 1.2k for fours people and waited 1:30h for the spots at the sushi bar but it is worth it. Your time, your money, and your choices. This is mine.

Truly phenomenal sushi. I’ve had some of the best sushi all over the world and here I had the best salmon nigiri (get the sockeye) and probably the best tamago nigiri I’ve ever had (rivals a top place I ate at in Bangkok). If you sit at the bar, you can order a la carte. Service is also excellent!

Lucky to get upgraded to the counter seat so as able to see how Chef created the sushi pieces for us. Such engagement definitely made the whole experience completed and satisfying! Very fresh fish but I personally would prefer more flavored sushi rice. Overall great experience, portion, service, view and I’m glad that I choose adding three more pieces - a bit fatty but amazing!

They did not honor our reservation due to their own error.

To preface, what an absolute honor and treat it was to be served Omakase by Shiro Kashiba himself. If you have a moment to Google his name and read his story, do it, it should excite you to book a seat at his table.
Every nigiri was delicious, buttery, and melts in your mouth. We showed up early at 6:15 to sit down for 7pm Omakase. The experience was top notch and worth every penny. Our Omakase was 21 pieces, covered an assortment of salmon, tuna, white fish, blue skin fish, shellfish, and more.
I never write reviews and felt compelled to speak on this fabulous establishment. We will return.

This is the most overrated and pretentious restaurant (sushi or not) we have ever been to. Had a 5pm reservation so we could get to a show, but they opened and seated and took the orders for everyone in the walk-in line first, claiming they had been standing for hours. Very rude, why make a reservation at all? We enjoy fine dining and have had sushi in a lot of places around the US including Hawaii, Manhattan at Morimotos, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Key West and West Palm Beach to name a few and each location had better sushi than this place. The strip mall we went to in Phoenix had better sushi than this place. They have good to very good sushi here, but it does not make the excellent threshold so many other restaurants achieve. Staff and atmosphere is pretentious while not deserving it. Save yourself and your wallet some pain and go to a different sushi location. Otherwise you are going to be in the position of convincing yourself that it had to be great because you spent so much money on what little you got for it.

Honestly, I was disappointed by the table omakase offering. Given the price and the availability of good sushi in Seattle, I was expecting really great food, and it was just OK on average. There were a few standout pieces of nigiri and the intro course was lovely. However, most of the nigiri that followed was either unmemorable, too fishy tasting, had an unpleasant texture, or had far too much wasabi. It was lacking interesting presentation and it felt like some pieces, like geoduck, were included simply because they're unusual rather than because they're good (geoduck is not pleasant to eat as nigiri). In summary, it was not at all what I was expecting for a place of this supposed caliber and makes me feel like it wasn't worth the cost. The pros: the service was excellent and the location is very nice, particularly for tourists. They also have a very fine sake collection. However, if you want a truly phenomenal omakase experience, I'd recommend going to Shiro's instead. Not only is Shiro's slightly cheaper, everything we had there was an absolute delight.

We had the chef counter omakase here. Chef/service was fine & nice. But overall this place is very overrated. My $85 omakase from NYC was better than this $175 course. All the fish tasted very average (or even below average).

The service could be better. 20% gratuity is enforced, thus waiters don't have any additional incentive for doing a great job to earn their gratuity.

Incredible sushi. Pricey, but the quality is excellent and the amount you receive is very generous. Great selection of sushi classics and more unique, seasonal courses. You will need to arrive early and wait in line to get seated at the chef's counter, but it's worth the time.

Hands down the best sushi experience I've ever had. I'd give this place (and my sushi chef tonight) 10 stars if I could. I did the Chef's Counter Omakase Experience, 100% worth it! Thank you for such an incredible experience!

Don't let its proximity to the touristy pike's place market fool you - Sushi Kashiba serves up the best cuts of fish you'll find in the PNW...maybe even the entire west coast. We did the Peak tasting menu which was well worth it, with each piece of fish thoughtfully sequenced and gently but perfectly seasoned.
Ask for Brandon!!! Brandon is a god-tier guide. He walked us through each piece, helping us understand how the different fish fit into the chef’s vision. He was so patient and engaging — totally thrilled to make sure we had the best experience. The entire staff was so great, silently whisking away empty plates, topping off our water glasses, replacing soiled napkins.
Go, and splurge on an incredible meal. Treat yourself. You deserve it.

Sitting at the chefs counter for the Omakase was incredible. Each bite was unique and delicious. We had tuna and salmon prepared three different ways. A bunch of other unique fish. No dedicated drink pairing but there is a good selection of sake and other drinks. Pacing of food was perfect. Would absolutely go back!

Got the omakase again and it was disappointing. The quality wasn’t top tier and temperature on certain dishes was odd like some of the nigiri. This place was amazing 2-3 years ago but they’ve gone downhill since then. The service was mediocre this time as well. Nobody smiled and things just felt robotic.

Amazing place!!! Wow! Fresh, flavorful and creative. We were blown away. Totally worth the high prices. I don’t mind paying for great food. It’s rare to find something expensive and say it’s worth it. Our waiter was also amazing, I wish I remembered his name. He was attentive and recommended all the best things. Go here!

We did the peaks menu and thought it was good but not worth the price. Lot of the sushi was small and bland and as others have mentioned the rice was just off. Wanted to love this place but it was just ok. Factor in pricing and it’s below average for the price point. Would not return.

2nd time my husband and I went. Last time was a couple years ago so I read reviews right before. Was a little nervous b/c there were more negative reviews than I anticipated. From start to finish, our experience (like the 1st time) was very pleasant. We had a reservation. There was an opening at the counter for omakase but we declined. We both got the peak - market price and split the black cod kazuke. We couldn't finish the cod b/c we were so full. My lowlight was $9 for my hop water. It was good but $9 seemed like a decent upcharge. Oh, and parking was surprisingly easy. Since it was rainy, during the week night and outside tourist season, we got free parking right in Pike Place.

Way over priced and food was just so-so. Paid $28 for an over cooked 4-5oz piece of Salmon that came with 1/2 of a green bean and nothing else! Couldn’t find sushi on the menu unless you wanted to pay $120 per person and then couldn’t control what you ordered. Restaurant was crowded and loud. Would NOT recommend.

Had the omikaze dining experience. A bit pricey. Final bill was $552 for 2 people but initial quote was $175 pp for a 1.75 hour experience. They add on extras which made it up to a final total of $552 for 2 people, rather more than I expected. However, although it was very, very good, you paid a lot for the narrative and the personal service of the master sushi chef with 60 (yes, sixty) years of experience. He trained 54 years ago in Japan with a 6 ½ year apprenticeship. So I guess he knows his stuff!

Above average fish quality, but wasabi was on the aggressive side for my palate. Great service and atmosphere.

Overpriced and over prepared. It was obvious that the " omigase" experience was a farce at the table. The appetizer round arrived within 3 mins of us ordering and had been sitting in the fridge for too long. All subsequent.dishes were not in the spirit of omigase but rather pre- prepared refrigerated portions masquerading. All the fish tasted the same and were too chilled to release their flavour. Extremely disappointing

Not bad but not worth it - overpriced and overhyped. Any decent and much cheaper sushi chain in Japan like Katsumidori would be better than here. I don’t know how this place is rated so high, perhaps I came on a wrong day. In Seattle, I had better Sushi in Shiki restaurant.

Honestly, I don’t think I can go back to any sushi restaurant in Seattle. We (five of us) went January 25, 2024 and had the chef’s tasting menu. Ask your server for this, you won’t be disappointed. Five courses, chef’s choice. So fresh, so well presented, and just enough…although I could have ordered another hand roll with toro tuna, but it would have been overkill…lol. Great cocktails and large menu of sake. I am now spoiled for sushi here in Seattle. Everything else (compared to Kashiba) is like fast-food sushi…good, but not the quality we had at Kashiba. And service…top notch! Very attentive and responsive.

Delicious Omakase and sides. We got the Omakase and each one was delicious. A bit more expensive than other places but worth the price.
We also got the Yellowtail collar which was roasted perfectly.

I've ordered some karaage on my own but tried a few things from the omakase with some friends.
I was already impressed by the interior of the location - if you want a wonderful vibe to dine in while in downtown and craving some sushi this is a place to go! If you feel like really treating yourself to a spot with excellent food, atmosphere, and service - and don't mind spending a pretty penny I can't recommend this spot enough. I wish I remembered my server's name - they were very nice and gave really good recommendations.

Quite simply the best omakase I've ever had. We came here for our anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better meal. The quality of the fish was incredible and our omakase chef (Chris) made it an absolute delight to sit at the counter. The legend, Chef Kashiba, even made an entrance - it was such a treat to see him there and engaging with everyone. I can't recommend Sushi Kashiba more highly, it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had!

Best omakase spot I’ve been to so far in North America. Booked last minute reservations through the four seasons concierge. A pleasure to dine there every year. This year I got to meet chef kashiba himself. A wonderful experience and I look forward to the next time I am back.
