Johnny was an incredible sushi chef! He was very personable, kind, and funny throughout my time at Sugo. He was a great conversationalist. The waiters were very attentive in bringing drinks and appetizers, particularly Jorge. Awesome place, would highly recommend!

Sugo put a spin on your typical hand roll and made it extra tasty with their creativity. Also loved the appetizers, it was my first time trying a miso soup shooter! The drinks were also phenomenal, def recommend the lychee martini & do you dig me. The host, Sharon, was also super friendly and welcoming. This was a 11/10 experience and I will definitely be coming back.

SO damn good! I love a hand roll, they make them right in front of you here. The seafood is all super fresh and they even had veggie options available. DO NOT overlook the green bean tempura roll, it's the best one on the menu hands down.

I went to Sugo on Tuesday, the 26th, for a dinner date at 5pm. The waiter was nice, and I was satisfied with his service. The chef was also kind, and we really loved the hand rolls. However, the only issue was that while we were still eating, another waitress came over and made us pay in the middle of our meal. She wasn’t even our assigned waitress, and I hadn’t indicated that I wanted to pay at that time.

Delicious hand rolls. Highly recommend the crispy shrimp, sea scallops and snow crab rolls. The calamari is also very good. The mixed drinks were a little on the sweet side but we really enjoyed the house sake.

We had lunch here with our nine year old kids at lunch. (It is not kid friendly in the evenings.) It was an amazing experience at their sushi bar. The chefs and servers were wonderful and explained things in detail so our kids knew what they were ordering. Cocktails for spouse and I were excellent. I had the lychee martini with the bubble, which was fun and tasty. We will be back!

We randomly found Sugo near Pike Place on a trip to Seattle. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day when the rest of our group arrived in Seattle. The food and service were phenomenal. We will go again on our next trip.

Got a gift card to come here. The food and service is really good. The cons include: awkward check in process, limited drink menu with not having red or white wine, hard to find parking, being extremely close to other people (able to listen to the 4 people on both side having private conversations), not having a back to the chair to hang your coat, etc. The value of the food is good & the chefs / preparers know their stuff. If you like raw fish, then this place is for you. We left stuffed and had a good time, but probably won’t be returning.

Edit:
- Try the snow crab roll.
- I do now remember that I felt judged when I decided to not order a drink after they told me there was no wine. I guess the waitress doesn’t realize some people don’t want sake or a sugary instagramable drink. Note This was after we placed a menu card of >$100 of food items for two people.

A hidden gem, we discovered strolling through the streets of Seattle. Chef Johnny made our dining an experience, guiding us through the menu. The quality of the seafood was exceptional and the flavours were delicious. The truffle avocado hand roll is a piece of heaven. You will not be disappointed.

We had an awesome happy hour dinner here on a recent trip to Seattle. Got the spicy tuna, spicy scallop, salmon, crispy shrimp, and truffle avocado hand rolls, and they were all fantastic (and only $4 each!). These are not the hand rolls you might see at traditional sushi bars (i.e., the ones that are shaped like ice cream cones) -- they're more like mini tacos, and the nori comes sheathed in little compostable cellophane-like sleeves that preserve their crispiness until you slide them off to eat.

We also got the chicken tatsu taage, which are like honey BBQ nuggets -- a little on the dry side, but still with good flavor (not quite the same as karaage, with not as much batter). The calamari furai (fried calamari) was also tasty, but bear in mind it's only the tentacles (in case that's not your preference).

Drinks were awesome, and did not skimp on the alcohol! The lychee martini is a production in itself -- the waitress creates a big bubble over the glass that contains smoke, which eventually pops, letting the smoke spill over like it's some sort of mad scientist's creation. The Hi B Vitamin C had great flavor, and was more like a refreshing summer drink. The Melona Poptail was my favorite, since it comes with a melon popsicle dipped into the drink!

There are two sections of the restaurant, as far as I understand. The main part is a rectangular bar with the sushi chefs in the middle -- this was too busy when we were there, with a wait of at least 40 minutes or so. But the separate bar area (with about 9 tables) had plenty of seating -- not quite as socially hopping, but still very pleasant for a dinner for two. Service was very friendly and efficient.

I would highly recommend this place, especially if you're a sushi fan. We'll definitely come back the next time we visit!

A long fall from the top. Last time I was here, this was 5 stars across the board. This time the place was sloppy, service was bad, but food was great. I sat for 15 minutes watching our waitress dance with people in the lobby while I waited for another drink. Ended up leaving.

This was my first time going to Sugo and the food was pretty good other than the rolls were swapped for my partner and I. Our experience was terrible because of the service we received. We were ignored the entire time in comparison to the people around us for no apparent reason. It was not busy and this was still the case for us. It turned out to make us feel very unwelcomed and we felt the employees were very cold toward us. Not recommending this place to anyone and will not be revisiting in the future.

Side Note: The music was rave music which was strange for the type of restaurant. This is nitpicky but just adding this as a disclaimer.

Sugo.

Who doesn’t enjoy sushi, right?
If that’s you, you can still come and drink or watch me eat sushi and drink. Maybe?

On an October weekday I stopped in, it's fine to go solo, always. Sugo hoists a small array of seats so a reservation is recommended. Yes, it gets tight, spicy and saucy as nori to wasabi or elbows with ginger. Love me some ginger and soy! Once, I wanna see a giant ball of shaved ginger with soy on a sushi menu! Just saying... Yummers, so damn good, healthy too!

Hey, what a treat to attain, receive and witnessed their service just the other evening. Between an elegantly and humble brigade of youthful professionals engaged in swanky sushiness, dates or dinner with sis, you get to watch the talented sushi rollers and their unique take and give.

Sugo sees fit to run a tight ship and certainly the most formative note of my experience dining and drinking at Sugo is how well the staff work as a team. Teamwork doesn’t make any dream work. Not at all! Whomever 'twas that said such, I refute their suggestion immediately and instantaneously, lol!

My experience tells me that really great teamwork make everyone's dreams work and on queue enters the substitute sushi savior Tito to back up the stellar Jonny who is the fixture, the main man that everyone stares at for eight a day at least. He made a positive and friendly chef and Tito the head chef came in to help him out on a night off. All smiles and bottles twirling and crushing the lists of majestic this and that is what they did so well despite the lean machine. Sugo was a croutching tiger, no hidden diner. Woo!

LoL! That was pretty great, you’re welcome! I’ve more, there’s time.

Try the sushi, it's great! Spicy tuna roll...there is something smokey in their and that's one hot sauce... try it, it's delish and hot!

Speaking of hot, I LOVE that I got to come to try the creations of her legendary coordinates & latitudes, the drinks of master mix~libationist, thee Ms. Lei! (wait for applause) Her fruity sensations & imaginative cocktails know no boundries and she doesn't bend or merky placate the top shelf or brand awareness! She works harder, outsmarter and weirder, thank the gods! Her game is real, this cocktail machine and boba babe is a magician and vanishes all inhibition while magically...she leaves no renditions, her appeal is... she’s original, generous, her staff love her, she's courageous and reinventive...so you get to try her rainbow spectrums that honor the lists and your lips, how gracious! I thank you, Ms. Lei, I loved your approach, thoughtfulness and fun in every sip or gulp- exquisite balance! I wish the same for anyone who hasn't gone to your restaurant. I say so with a vibrant heart due your endless smiles, sunny breams and rays, our pot of gold. Your staff are a credit to your leadership, their hearts large and on sleeves, wouldn't you agree?

My favorite cocktail has her 'Space Dance' of joto yuzu sake + joy sake + yuzu + lavender + butterfly pea flower.
It is an attention getter and colorful, briming with her 'Rainbow', she paints what looks, smells and tastes like a melted My Little Pony but is so freakin' thirst quenching, puckery and just as well structured as the large aperitif, cafe stem she serves it with. This drink also sparkles and matched my eyes, though her team and her leadership are the real stars in my sky... or her painted rainbow.

Sugo, thank you for a wonderful time. I truly deserve your kindness and I love your togetherness, says what really matters, doesn't it? I value you, your welcome and your best is yet to come.

"Keep swimming!"

Such a great place for handroll in Downtown Seattle. Highly recommend to come during Happy Hours to enjoy their deals, some of the handrolls are just $4. I love Hawaiian Poke, Bluefin Otoro, and Wagyu + Uni most.

Really not recommend the Wagyu Baku Dan. Can’t believe I paid $12 for 2 pieces full of rice and just a tiny piece of wagyu. So ridiculous when I saw everyone orders that.

Sugo is a unique spot just a few steps away from Pike Place Market. Serving up a variety of fresh hand rolls and unique appetizers, the experience is a delight. Sushi Chefs Clayton and Tito are true masters of their craft with a passion for providing not only the highest quality food, but the best level of service. Their success can be attributed to their attention to detail and comittment to using the freshest ingredients. When sitting at the hand roll bar, Clayton and Tito are also very professional in accommodating dietary and allergic needs. The bluefin otoro has been on point and delicious the numerous times I've gone. Shout out to the amazing waiting staff as well, Josef, Toby, and many others, super attentive, kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. True shining examples of the highest level of hospitality. The manager Sharon, has culminated an amazing team with varying degrees of talent and professionalism that shows not only in the quality of food but level of service. The team at Sugo has created a family and positive work culture environment that can be felt the moment you enter the door. At the end of your meal, you will surely leave feeling warm, happy, and with a smile. This hidden treasure is a must for anyone visiting Seattle and seeking a one of a kind dining experience. With everything said, I'll surely be back every week.

Went here on a random Monday lunch date while visiting Seattle. It was quite pleasant. Limited vegetarian options; and some were unavailable. Still whatever we did try was pretty good. We also got some cocktails which were strong and yummy. The space is a bit tight, I am left handed and the guy next to me and I just kept elbowing each other (lol)
Shoutout to their chef who changed gloves and prepared our vegetarian rolls from a separate rice cooker (at least for our first round of orders!) the other chef quickly contaminated everything and that was a turn off as we have various allergies and are vegans. So we didn’t order more after and left. Fun afternoon, friendly service, and great location.

This place is mid. Food is overpriced and made by some 20 year olds. Nothing special. The employees were nice but this place is really nothing special. Looks fancy but it is just mid and average tasting hand rolls. Good presentation but really the food is average at best. This place will fit you fine if you are new to eating Japanese food otherwise I’d suggest probably skipping this place.

TLDR: Spent $100/person and still left hungry and unimpressed although the employees were nice which was the only redeeming factor.

Out-of-towners who stopped in one afternoon but it was so busy we ate else where. After dinner we stopped back for a drink and Sharon hooked us up. She remembered us from earlier and went out of her way to make us some great drinks. The experience was so nice that we took advantage of an opportunity to stop in before we flew out to have some hand rolls and a few drinks. It was just our luck that Sharon was working again....and she remembered us again! And she took care of us again! The drinks and food are fantastic and the service is just as great. It was our first time dining here and we received very very good customer service. They were very accommodating to our group with two toddlers. The hand rolls were delicious, but the spicy tuna was a bit too spicy. My husband and I love spicy food, but when it overpowers the flavor and texture of the food, it's difficult to enjoy the fish. Sushi Experience №65

I'd start by saying the food was okay, but not worth the price. I felt the restaurant charged more than what it delivered. The atmosphere also left something to be desired—the floor was dusty and unclean, which gave the place a rundown feel. The open kitchen by the bar was less appealing. Sauce bottles were sticking out from the behind counter, and boxes were stacked in plain sight, giving it a cluttered look. The way the chefs cleaned the prep areas, with sushi rice falling to the floor as they wiped the cutting boards, came across as unprofessional and a bit tacky.

For a $150 dinner, the experience fell short of expectations. With that price point, I expected much more in terms of quality and presentation, but I didn’t even get the basics. Overall, it didn’t live up to the standards I anticipated for the price.

i really wish i could’ve left a positive review, but i’ll just give my honest thoughts.

i was really excited to try this place. coming inside, i gave one of the hosts my name and reservation time, but the table wasn’t ready - so i waited for about 10 minutes in the lobby. that’s fine, but then another host came up to me and asked for my reservation again. then they said they couldn’t find my name, and asked if it was under another name… i hate needing to second guess myself and questioning if i created the reservation for the correct day. honestly, i felt embarrassed so i took out my phone to check the date of my reservation again. turns out, they just made a mistake because they were able to locate it a few minutes later.

they sat us down and asked if we were ready to order 3 times within the span of 2 minutes. like its my first time here - please let me look over the menu 😭 i just felt really rushed and stressed.

they also forgot one of my handrolls, so we sat there waiting for nothing until they realized.

food was good but the service made it hard to enjoy. boozy boba was good

atmosphere was decent, a little more on the dirty side. expected better for the price.

I would not comeback, I was quite excited to try new concept for japanese food. Quite surprised how hipster the place was, loud music, busy servers, I was still tempted to try out the full experience.

I believe the place originally/probably started as fancy dining experience: reserved guests are watching chefs making food, starting their dinings at the same time. But, servers are always running in and out, chefs were not looking at what they were making. chefs and servers were making casual conversations about their shifts on the weekends.

Knowing what I was paying for I expected a lot more details on each ingredients. Highlights of handroll and foundation is seaweed. What I was served with was soggy due to chef’s greasy hands, stale and.. just thought-less. Rice? Dry dry dry, not much flavor. truffle avocado didn’t highlight truffles. Wagyu + mushrooms were overcooked and falling apart as rice was too dry. Otoro should taste a lot more fresh… Wagyu baku dan had pocket full of rice, very little sukiyaki beef. Sure, lychee martini was fun to look at but with loud music banging at your ear, while your server tries not to pop the bubble the second time, would you say it’s worth the experience?

Overall, it seemed popular spots for young couples and friends. Would NOT recommend for any special romantic nights. Ambiance was not there. We took our losses and pivoted to other places to enjoy rest of our evening. Expect to pay a lot but regardless of what you pay for, quality won’t be there 🥲

Truly spectacular. On a Friday at noon-ish, we walked right in. The drinks were amazing, especially the martini and the fruity sake flight. I got the set: torched eel, truffle avocado (you can really taste the truffle!), the crispy shrimp, and the salmon. They were all so delicious and fresh, perfectly made with the best flavor. The service was great, not too fast not too slow. I wasn't expecting to be so wow'd by a handroll place, but I was raving about it to my family later that day. I'd definitely come here again.

The food is delicious, the service is enthusiastically attentive, and the ambiance perfect for a night out with friends for sushi. I tried the salmon, toro, otoro, ebi, tuna and steak - every fish piece was fresh, fatty and perfectly prepared. The steak option was equally impressive in my hand rolls. The culinary designer, Jane Kang, curates an incredibly impressive menu and works diligently to collaborate with her in-house team to present a feast that’s second to none. TLDR: Good ingredients, bad temaki assembly,, and very slow service.

Long wait for 2 hand rolls to go. Not sure what the bottleneck was but the restaurant staff seemed harried and there were obvious issues with communication between waitstaff and the kitchen, resulting in a delay of about 30 minutes for two rolls to go. Rolls themselves tasted good, but were more like nori tacos than the typical temaki ice cream cone shape, making for a really messy eating experience (nori wraps were too small to actually wrap around the filling). Edamame was bland, seemed unsalted. As a to go option, its hard to say it was worth the price, and certainly not worth the wait.

Waitstaff was apologetic and courteous and atmosphere seemed chic.

Went there on a recommendation by a friend, ordered two hand rolls as a walking snack.
Waited 35 minutes as the chefs slowly took their time finishing one big order, while the diligent and apologetic servers were giving their all, rushing about and being super efficient.
The food we got was two handfuls of rice and fish. It did not taste good enough for the $16 pre-tip and tax, and was certainly not worth waiting 35 minutes for.

We had a great experience eating here. The chefs were friendly and personable, the food was fantastic. The only downside, and it’s a small one, is that the nori could have been a bit crispier. I’m a real stickler for fresh hand rolls, made to order, and this place nails it, but for some reason the nori got water logged quickly.

We will certainly make this a regular stop when visiting Seattle.

We walked in midday Saturday and got a perfect spot at the corner of the bar. They set us up with some damn fine drinks and then Johnny started making some of the most delicious hand rolls ever. He added his personal touch of yuzu kosho to the blue fin otoro. Bomb. His humor and attention really made the experience and he gave us a hug on the way out. Just top notch, thank you Johnny!

This restaurant seems to have some operations and customer service challenges or maybe the staff was mostly focusing on prepping for a Friday night and the 2:00pm reservation was an inconvenience.

Had a reservation and Waited 15 minutes before anyone said anything to me. When I told the hostess I had a reservation it was like I was inconveniencing her. The place was not busy. It seemed the waitstaff was focused on anything but their customer. Once seated the same thing. The hand rolls were good but no one ever stopped by to ask if we needed anything. The staff seemed they were primarily focused on changing out, so they could get the next person in but it wasn’t very busy. (The place seats 16 people and there was never more than 10 people at the sushi bar)

We closed out and they did not give me a printed receipt when I asked for one. I realized it after we left and I needed one to reimburse the work expense. I called 5 min after leaving and asked if they would be able to email me the receipt. The same hostess/waitress was extremely rude and said that I would need to drive back to the restaurant. I explained it was just 5 minutes ago and gave her the exact amount of the check. She replied: “I have already given you my answer and hung up”

$230 for 2 beers, 15 hand rolls and a lousy waitstaff. I won’t be going here again.

Sugo nailed it! Food is fresh and rolls are delicious. Tito, the sushi chef, made the experience for us. He was professional, fun, and clearly talented in his craft. We were visiting from LA where restaurant competition is fierce and Tito delivered. Sugo is lucky to have someone so dedicated and experienced.

What a mess this place is. The luxury branding is such a trickery. Quality is like a street vendor with chopped up low quality ingredients.

Visited 10 months ago

Sushi Experience №115

Sugo is fairly reasonably priced, especially their happy hour menu, but the quality of food reflects that. The fish all tasted previously frozen, and not particularly fresh. The chefs rolling the hand rolls seemed pretty novice at the position. The restaurant definitely caters towards tourists, especially given its proximity to Pike’s Place. There are better quality sushi restaurants in Seattle, but the price here is hard to beat, and the hand roll bar is a nice novelty.

My wife and I have been 3 time and the food is always great. Only thing that needs work is the front of house staff is horrible. Every time we go the waitresses are always short/ disinterested and give horrible service even when the space is 90 percent empty. Sushi chefs are always the opposite. Friendly, quick and attentive. It also becomes an issues when you want to order some more food or drinks and the staff is nowhere to be found the chefs don’t have the ability to make anything without the waitstaff.

Solid choice for interesting food. We had a quick dinner during happy hour, ordered the tatsuta age and tuna and salmon rolls which were decent. Finally tried this place. Overall, food was good but we had a negative service experience that made it a 3/5. We were consistently being served last and late by the chef. People who had arrived after us and still had food on their plate or still eating were getting the same items we ordered right away. There were times that we were sitting for several minutes with nothing on our plates, staring at other people get served and it was apparent the wait time between new rolls/food for other guests was not the same. I’m really not sure why that was and it was genuinely puzzling and disappointing. Whether it was intentional or not, we felt ignored and treated differently compared to other guests. Overall, I’m glad we tried it but would not go back.

Stopped in for dinner while on a business trip on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed! I sat at the sushi bar and was seated right between a couple and another business traveler. They definitely pack you in which is nice because it helps get folks chatting about the food and travels. Atmosphere is decent - bar in the middle of the room surrounded on 3 sides by high top bar seating. Not much on the walls and not much else in the room. Decent selection of hand rolls which are prepared individually and the chefs are quite good at pacing the groups. Wasabi and pickled ginger are placed at your spot when you sit down - both are incredible and I ate all of it. Ok selection of beers but a more fun sake and cocktail menu. I had the 5 hand roll combo which included spicy tuna, king salmon, scallop, snow crab and unagi. All quite good and actually hard to rank. Spicy tuna probably my least favorite though it did have a great spice to it. Scallop was insanely sweet and soft and delicious. Eel was delicious but my top two were the salmon and the snow crab. No, the eel and the salmon. I dunno - you gotta come and try them to decide yourself!!

Wandered into Sugo hand roll bar, because of the sign for the boozy boba, and very glad we did. Sushi was so delicious, very good sushi highly recommend!! And our chef was awesome and so so friendly! Unfortunately the server who seated us and took the order was not at all friendly and very judgmental of us only ordering 2 rolls and 2 drinks which I did not realize was any kind of faux pas. Just be prepared to order quite a few rolls if you do go, they are good anyway.

There was so much food and amazing drinks! Sharon is an amazing host with helping me host everyone and enjoying our time! The chefs were great too! I don’t have all the words to explain that I had an amazing birthday here and I’d recommend this place for events and simply just dining with friends or date night! One of a kind sushi eating experience in the heart of Seattle. Sitting at the bar is a must. The chefs will take great care to make sure they serve you one roll at a time to maintain freshness while taking even greater care to create artful 2-3 bite hand rolls that explode with authentic Japanese flavors. It’s honestly so refreshing to have variety and flavor without resorting to cream cheeses and salsas on sushi.

Our Experience:
Sushi Rolls: Decent flavor, but nothing extraordinary.
Lychee Martini: The star of the show! Refreshing and delightful.
Overall Impression: While the lychee martini impressed, the sushi rolls and hand rolled didn’t leave us raving. We likely won’t return.
Location: Close to Pike Market, but unfortunately, parking options are limited.
Note: Some homeless individuals are nearby, less than a block away.
In summary, Sugo Hand Roll Bar offers an intimate setting for sushi enthusiasts, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for us. If you’re craving a unique drink and sustainable seafood, give it a try, but manage your expectations for the rolls. 🍣🍸

Huge props to Chef Johnny! Experience with him specifically was amazing and the food was tasty. Our favorite was the seared king salmon sashimi and unagi hand roll. Unfortunately the waitress we had must have been having a terrible day or something bc her attitude was terrible. The hostess we first spoke with was very nice and upbeat, and another waitress seemed normal, but our main assigned waitress just seemed annoyed and pissed off, and was not attentive or very nice so we felt better talking to other waitress than our own. I hope it was just a bad day and not how she is all the time because she really brought the vibe down compared to the rest of the staff and experience.

We had the best experience at Sugo today! I went 2 days ago for the first time and had to come back because the happy hour deal was too hard to miss. This time though, the experience was even better!

They made the your sushi right in front of you if you’re seated in the sushi bar. We ordered spicy tuna, scallop, truffle avocado, and salmon hand rolls. The rolls tasted great and were filled with a LOT of the fillings (almost overflowing). Really generous portion and great deal!!

We also ordered wagyu sando. I love the meat, but find the sauce a bit overwhelming. I would reorder it but would request less sauce next time.

Overall, amazing food, but the service was even greater. Our chef, Johnny is so personable! He made the atmosphere really enjoyable and fun which is amazing for drinking and relaxing. He also made a special roll for us which tasted amazing ( looked so good so didn’t snap a pic lol)

Very underhwhelming sushi bar. I brought my sister here because she was visiting me and wanted to impress her with a nice sushi place. First we had to wait to be seated 10~15min even though we had made a reservation. This was a small inconvenience but while waiting I could see the kitchen there was a girl with very long hair in normal clothes making some of the food and it was alarming to see her hair not tied and to be that long and casually making the expensive food. Then later we got seated at the sushi bar and their website was no accurate to tell us that happy hour was no longer served which was the whole point why we went early and made the reservation at that time, but again minor inconvenience at this point. Food wise the salmon was just horrible. It had so much fat and it just reminded salmon from salmon farms where they grow up basically eating their own feces. They have very fancy cocktails that are very expensive. Overall the food was so underwhelming. Our food came out really late and they ended up giving a free tuna dish because they messed up our order. Overall I think Sugo Hand Roll fronts as a fancy luxury sushi bar, but I will never be going back again. It's not that it was horrible it was just not worth a 50$ per person sushi experience.

And they do not validate parking.

Save your money for a great dinner at Momiji SLU or Nori Sushi in Eastlake! The place serves pretty good Sushi but we have been really disappointed with their service and complete lack of empathy for their customers.

We show up on Friday evening at 8:40 pm based on the expected ETA shown on Yelp waitlist. We are told that we were texted at 8:15 pm itself to inform us that our seats were ready [We didn't receive any such message] The hostess proceeds to tell us that their last seating is 8:30 pm and they cannot accommodate us at that time. This seemed like a genuine mixup so we let it go and proceed to another restaurant in the area.

On Monday, we feel like Sushi again. This time we rush to get there before 8:30 and show up around 8:23 pm. Now, we are told that their last seating is always 8:15 pm and they cannot seat us. Does the last seating change based on the mood of the restaurant crew? Define a SLA and stick to it!! I have heard the last seating be 30 mins before the closing time but 45 mins just seems to be something the hostess made on the spot. Do yourself a favor and don't give them business that they don't want anyway.

Coming from Vancouver, I’ve heard good things about sushi in Seattle, and Sugo Hand Roll Bar was the first place we came across while we were walking around the area. Right away, the customer service was exceptional! Mel, our server, gave us compressed towel tablets and answered any questions we had about the menu. We ended up ordering the 5 Hand Roll Set, the 4 Hand Roll Set, and the Space Dance cocktail. We were worried that our cards wouldn’t work in case we didn’t have enough cash, but the staff was very helpful/patient, and it turns out we were able to pay with our Mastercard!

The chef was also very friendly and we really enjoyed the food—the king salmon and spicy bay scallop hand roll were my favourites. The wasabi was also fresh. If I were to come back, I’d get the 5 Hand Roll Set again. It was filling and I enjoyed all the flavours (king salmon, spicy bay scallop, spicy tuna, snow crab, torched eel). At the end of our meal, we received a surprise from the chef and it really made our day!

Another surprise was the candy that comes with the bill. Usually, they’re hard milk candy or guava candy, but we were given Japanese gummy candy with mango, strawberry, and lychee flavours. They are seriously good and I am considering buying a bag if I ever see it in store!

I am very glad to have come across this hand roll bar :)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sugo Hand Roll Bar, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the unique atmosphere. The layout of the restaurant, with everyone seated around the bar overlooking the kitchen where the hand rolls are expertly prepared, created an engaging and interactive dining environment.

One of the highlights of my visit was being able to watch and chat with the person preparing my food. It added a personal touch to the dining experience that you don't often find elsewhere. The staff, including Tyler, Tito, Nora, and Emi, were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout my meal. Despite dining alone, I never felt lonely thanks to their warm hospitality.
