Quality: Best Sushi I have ever had in my life. Period! Kazuko has my highest recommendation! Me and 3 other friends went there for happy hour and we had the best time! SHOUT OUT to Jason who made the most delicious sushi on earth! The taste, freshness, texture of the sushi and sashimi are top-notch. My favroite is the toro and the melting sensation once placed in my mouth feels amazing! The spider rolls, nacho sushis, sashimi and sushi sets are all dazzling and tasted incredible! I can’t say enough good things about this place! It is hard to pick my favorite!
Appearance: A picture speaks a thousand words! They all look like masterpiece and art! It was such a satisfying experience just watching Jason putting the sushi together! I really appreciate him putting many efforts and time to serve the best sushi to us!
Portion size: We loved it! Everything is the perfect size and great portion!.
🧑🏻 Service🧑🏻: 10/10
Friendliness: Service is solid! Jason is the best chef and he is awesome! We enjoyed spending time with the chefs and the servers! They are all very nice and friendly. They created a heart-warming, welcoming and nice atmosphere for us to have the best dining experience. I love talking to each of them and we are so grateful for their wonderful service!
Timeliness: Food came in no time! We went on a Monday night so not many people is in the restaurant, but I really appreciate them for providing the best service to us!
Environment: Very clean and nice, The lighting is perfect and I loved how everything looks, very simple yet modern. It really brings me to Japan and I loved it! Ver ycozy and warm atmosphere and the nice people make it feels like home!
Location: Great location with plenty of parkings outside, It is very easy to find the place! If you don’t have a car just like me, it maybe kind of hard to get there but I am sure with the lightrail opened up to Lynnwood, it will definitely make things easier!

We tried the Chicken Kaarage, Stevan Roll, and Sushi Cherished Set!
So, so delicious! The Chicken Kaarage was so tender and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside! The rolls and nigiri were so delicious and fresh! Each piece melted in our mouths, and paired amazingly with the wasabi and soy sauce provided. Absolutely enjoyed the Miso soup that the Sushi Cherished Set came with as well!
While we came at a busy dinner time, we were seated immediately and everyone there was super sweet! We enjoyed the food and experience, and will definitely come again to try more of their food.

Our group of ladies enjoyed a WONDERFUL lunch at Kazoku. The owner, Sumin, was incredibly gracious and helpful. The chef’s treated each dish with care and expertise. The freshness of the fish, the quality of the rice and ingredients, the consistency in the plates are all reason I will be back again and again.

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants I have found for sushi and Japanese food in general. The chefs behind the counter were just amazing and so funny and kind. Also, extremely knowledgeable and taught me a lot about Sake. The owner was so kind and truly cares about each customer that walks through their door. Get the banana split mochi and crepe cake you won’t regret it.

Everything in the photo plus 2 drinks + tax and tips was about $100 in total. Just 9 pieces of nigiri, 3 pieces of salmon on top of rice and two drinks costed that much. I was going to order more because my son was very hungry, but I decided to get more from another restaurant after having a piece of nigiri. It wasn't too bad honestly but not that good at all to justify the price. I know other places with better sushi. I would not come back again.

Nice enough place. Music playing Sat afternoon was obscure pop, a little odd. Ordered spicy tuna roll, after receiving and asking employee where the the tuna originated, she said it was “Atlantic tuna”. Not our favorite so we did not eat much. We prefer a better sushi grade ahi. Will return to San Kai restaurant in Edmonds that has a keener level of quality.

Edit to update.... I've been 3 more times in past year with much better service and food. Must have been some growing pains at the start.
Original from 2023: I always enjoyed the prior restaurant at this location, sushi moto. Was disappointed with quality of fish and construction of rolls, particularlyfor price point. Server was unattentive, not refreshing drinks and completely forgot one ordered item. They recently opened, so perhaps try again once they settle in.

As mediocre as can be. Definitely not a place to find good value. Ordered miso cod and it came out as a tiny little piece of fish. For $19, this was a rip off. Agedashi tofu wasn’t bad. Sushi fish was decent, but it seems sushi chef doesn’t know how to cut a proper fish. Special rolls were decent and udon was good. Overall, probably won’t come back bc it’s terrible value for what you get. Way too overpriced.

My husband and i went to have sushi for lunch. It wasnt as crowded but especially what i ordered came really late. It took over 25 mins to get my sushi bowl with tempura. My tempura was not warm at all and i also saw it was just sitting on the prep counter for a while. I wouldve just gone to qfc and got sushi there.
Dont wanna come here again.

Yes the sushi was of good quality, but not ‘A’ grade. The prices are just too high. We spent about $140 for the two of us, and weren’t that full.
At those prices you’d think I could get a cold beer. After 2 tries, I just accepted it and then it took me three tries to make them understand that I wanted a full beer tumbler full of ice. Then I drank my beer Vietnam style. Yes, I’d rather have had a cold beer out of the bottle.

I will tell you this, their tuna negitoro hand roll is to die for. The flavour burst in my mouth! Makes me think all their hand roll would keep up the trend. My only regret was not getting more. I also got the uni sushi and it just melts in my mouth. Amazing flavor. And their eel was cooked to perfection. I haven’t had this good sushi in a while.
They almost had a 5 star in my eyes. But the sashimi was a let down. I honestly did not want to eat the scallop and definitely had better salmon sashimi many times. For the price I am paying, I did expect higher quality buttery sashimi. But it’s okay, I will still come back for the hand rolls. They also had great customer service and a cozy vibe. All in all good experience!

Very solid Japanese place for this area! Will be my new go-to when I want Japanese food!!! Sashimi is great, very fresh. They have other items if you’re craving tempura or more “American” style rolls (Seattle roll, California etc). Service has always been very good when I’ve come! Servers are attentive and kind.
Prices are very reasonable. They have lunch specials and happy hour on the weekends! Wow!

Prob one of the better sushi places north of Seattle. Fish here is very fresh and of good quality. They also have pretty authentic items that are hard to find at most sushi places like ankimo

We did take out so the service was fine. But the food was very expensive and disappointing. The potato croquettes were very bland. The Jason Roll was not spicy and the slice lemon pith made it so bitter and $23! The edaname were not salted. The karage was hard. Sorry we will not be returning.

I ordered two orders of Toro, and when it came out, the fish looked like it had been sitting out for a while. There were dark brown brushing spots all over it, like half brown and half red. I spent over $100 with tip...I will never go back there again it's not worth it.

Robert Roll (8pc)-hotate and hamachi $24 ✨
Shishito peppers-w/ truffle salt and bonito flakes $9
Chawanmushi-egg custard w/ seafood $12 ✨
Chef’s choice 5 pc nigiri and zaru soba $32
Shiromi Carpaccio $19
Tensei sake-$24
Special Yuzu beer -$10 ✨
Crepe cake-vanilla (from Japan) $10✨
Kazoku means “family” and their mission is to serve the highest quality sushi while making you feel like family. We sat at the bar and read a book written by Chef Bobby who was a former sumo wrestler!
Started off with shishito peppers with truffle salt and bonito flakes. Then got the chawanmushi which was DELICIOUS. It’s a steamed egg custard with white fish, fish cake, shrimp, shitake mushroom, and bay scallop. You cannot leave without trying this!!!
The Robert roll had hotate (scallop), cucumber, tobiko inside, chopped hamachi with negi on top with lemon zest and ponzu. The hamachi and hotate together was perfect.
They make their own unique blend of yuzu beer and it was very refreshing and the balance of sweetness and citrus with the beer was just right.
The chef highly recommended we try the crepe cake because it is from Japan and the brown sugar syrup is also from Japan so it isn’t overly sweet. Perfect dessert to end your date night!
Kazoku’s one year anniversary is on August 24, 2024 and they are having a special 21+ all you cant eat AND all you can drink event. They only have a few spots left so make sure to take a look!

A friend of mine invited me to come here and we sat at the sushi bar. Had an amazing experience!! The fish here is fresh and has this creamy flavor to it, never experienced that with nigiri/sashimi. Bobby, Robert and Steve are on point. We ate the Chicken Karaage, Tako Yaki (unreal flavors), Edamame, Ika Geso Karaage and let Bobby (our sushi chef) make us 2 boards of Nigiri and Sushi/Sashimi. I was really impressed , also we were served raw shrimp, I never knew there were shrimp you could get raw (spot prawns).
We had the Crepe Cake and the Mochi Banana Split for desert, they use imported japanese bananas. I have no complaints and will definitely go back, I just wish you were closer to Columbia City.
Ps. Bobby was a Sumo wrestler and did a commercial with Michael Jordan back in the 90's!!! (his other chefs told us).. Everyone was great !
Thanks for a great night Kazoku

The Nigiri is not bad.
But would I come back here? No.
The serving size is very small, it's not really worth the price.
It is pretty expensive for sushi, nigiri, and udon. The udon serving size is kid's size.
My guests and I were pretty disappointed when the food came out.
There are better local spots that have been in the area for a while with great quality and cost.

Tl/Dr. Not worth the prices.
Listen up about this sushi restaurant that isn't what it should be. As an avid fan of sushi, I lived in Hakuba for 6 months and have dated a Japanese woman.
I must inform you that this was a bad experience for my wife and I. We were taken back by the $30 teriyaki bowls and the $14 chicken karaage. Niether was ordered by us.
We ordered tea and soup. The soup was scalding hot while the tea was warm, like it had been hot one time but not tonight. I was highly surprised that the sushi came out as fast as it did. Why? Well I did not see the heavily tattooed guy behind the counter make anything. It was Pre made. No warm rice. No broiled eel, No melt in your mouth toro. I have never been served cold eel. Ever. Toro should be delicious tasting not leaving an aftertaste.
I have a strong feeling that Korean sushi places are not the same as a traditional Japanese restaurant. There are flavor differences that I have found to be unappealing. There should be a disclaimer so fans of traditional Japanese style can make a informed decision before spending money on unapologetically different style of sushi. The rice wasn't the same.
I cannot recommend this place to you.

sashimi is not fresh at all, you can clearly see the texture that it’s bad, and it stinks. And the waiter got my order wrong… he did confirm it with me but I overheard it, but he definitely got it wrong at first. We paid $130 for the meal and every single dish was bad. Only the plain soba noodle was okay, but I mean, it’s plain soba noodle, I can cook by myself.

Kazoku in Edmonds is one of the best dinners we have had in a long time! Their uni was an amazing experience! The sushi was all very distinct and delicious. We enjoyed the yuzu beer which paired well with our saba shioyaki but the egg custard soup was the crown jewel!!! Oh the silky texture and delicate flavor was my most favorite.
The service and chefs were a joy, we talked of sumo and laughed at each others jokes as we tried their absolutely spot on reccomendations.

If I can give half a star, I think 4.5 star better reflect their quality and service. The sushi are of top freshness and umami. The tempura shirmps are big and tempura veggies are sweet n crispy. We like all their rolls and salad, but the miso soup is slightly salty, I think this can be adjusted easily. Some other dishes are attractive and we will come and try later.
We visited on a very busy Friday night, with full house guest, it's nice we made reservation and get seated very soon. I konw some guests queuing an hour for dinner. My server maybe new to business, we waited a while for him to take order and tea is serving a bit slow, so we seek the help of another server. I can understand and hope he will improve later. I believe this will be one of the popular restaurant in Edmonds area.

I had a very enjoyable time sitting at the bar. We talked to Bobby and Stevan, who were so interesting and kind to talk to! Bobby made my omakase, it was amazing, as pictured below. I was especially impressed by the uni, as they import it from Hokkaido and it has a very fresh taste.
Yuzu beer is a must try! It is a bit sweeter than a typical beer but it's very fizzy and I love the yuzu flavor
Overall, the omakase and happy hour is a great value, and I recommend trying it out, you won't be disappointed :)

There’s only been a couple Japanese restaurants in North Seattle where the seafood, preparation and service were just top notch. Been in the area for 18 years now and I’m happy that Chef Bobby and his team are here now. Don’t sleep on the specials as they have fresh sashimi like O’toro under the name “Special Roll”. So good! Celebrating my new job with a trip to my favorite sushi place. Was in luck! They had just received fresh squid from Japan. Yari Ika, he said, in season from winter to spring. We would never taste anything like it, he said. Sure, pal.
Until I tasted it. The delicate ginger-soy sauce, combined with thinly flocked seaweed was a masticator’s dream. The squid was separated by gil, wing, and body and melted in my mouth with the even sweeter taste of lemon and sesame oil. Sea Candy.
Shoutout to Chef Bobby, the resident Sumo wrestler. He made the atmosphere and the delectables special.

Food and service were great and very attentive! The decor was amazing but if you don't mind talking loudly so the person across from you can hear over the people around you also talking loudly than go for it. The music playing probably didn't help with that as they were playing it moderately loudly and like EDM/pop so that normally gets people excited and loud.

Decided to try this unassuming little place on a week night with my wife. It was really empty due to all the snow and ice and they flipped the sign to "closed" shortly after we sat down but ended up having a great meal and a pleasant experience. Don't be fooled by the strip mall location along Aurora....Kazoku is a top-quality sushi restaurant in every regard! We recently relocated to the north end, and were looking for a nice sushi restaurant to celebrate a successful move. I chose Kazoku based upon the google reviews, and they exceeded our expectations! Staff (and sushi chefs) greeted me by my first name (from my reservation) when we walked in. The decor, lighting, and atmosphere were elegant and relaxing but not fussy in any way. It was an open kitchen layout where even those of us sitting at tables in the dining room could watch the sushi chefs in action. The music was upbeat, however, it was still possible to carry on a conversation. The service was outstanding. Kudos to Kate, our server, for her friendliness, kindness and for helping us sort through the myriad of options on the menu, including the available gluten-free options for someone in our family with celiac. And then, of course, there was the food. Everything we had was really good, if not great. Don't miss the California rolls that are made with real snow crab, which were not only "out-of-this-world" delicious but also gluten-free. We also had the sushi set, chirashi bowl, some uni, and a wagyu beef sushi special that was surprisingly amazing. The non sushi options were also really, really good. The fish cake udon (not gluten-free, unfortunately) was amazingly delicious and so soothing on a cold winter night. The dessert list is short, however, the green tea and red bean mochi ice creams were good and a nice ending to the meal. We all agreed that Kazoku is so far our favorite sushi restaurant in the Seattle area!

First of all, Fish and Foods Quality are good 👍 which is over average . However the service need some improvement. I waited for my Sushi Omakase for 25mins. Hot foods come out about 10mins after we ordered. Chirashi was also 20mins waiting time. The table next to us wanted to order more sushi before they leave and was told the chef are falling behind and they have to cancel the order. They have enough servers to help but not enough sushi chefs even when the restaurant is not full seated. Reservation in advance is highly recommended.

Great neighborhood sushi, ramen and overall Japanese restaurant! Love their customer rolls, especially their Kazakh roll! Their sweet shrimp was off the charts and even their basic rolls were delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and accommodated large groups. There’s also a couple of more private areas you can reserve and they do omakase as well.

Delicious, high quality food with great service. Even if packed, it isn’t too noisy either. Highly recommend!

Read all the reviews and decided to try the new ownership. Not top notch as some stated. The sashimi mix was done well. The soft shell crab was not as crunchy as expected. The kazoku roll was great, as recommended. All in all, 90 out of 100. Will try the bar counter next time.

My partner and I have passed by Kazoku a number of times this past month, and every time we went we were shocked at how busy the restaurant was every night. Earlier today, after a long workout, we finally decided to just go and try Kazoku, which WOW. Everything was so good, especially the age-dashi tofu, sushi and sashimi! We were so excited and ate everything so fast we didn’t even time to take a photo. The entire staff was so friendly too, especially Chef Bobby and Sumin who greeted us from the start with so much kindness. Honestly, this felt like more than a meal - it was a real treat and a wonderful experience. In case you don’t know, Kazoku (家族) means family in Japanese. And that feeling of chatting with family was the kind of experience the two of us left with tonight. Thank you to all the staff at Kazoku, we can’t wait to come back!

I've come twice in the past week and each time has been wonderful. The front-of-house staff were so much fun and made us really feel welcome (like family!) and the food both from the sushi chefs and from the kitchen were fantastic. I can't wait to come back!

Fabulous sushi and service. Fresh and friendly. Fun spot.

I'm particularly picky when it comes to places that server sashimi and sushi. To say I had a great time and that the food and service were amazing is an understatement. Robert and Stevan were amazing and the entire staff was just awesome. This is easily now my #1 place.

The food is OK, I just don't get it why some servers there seem to be soooo sad/depressed? The service is bad, making me uncomfortable.

We found food at this restaurant to be mediocre and not worth the price ($38 for a sushi set, $28 for udon noodle). The service is terrible and extremely slow. We waited 15min to order and another 40min for a bowl of noodles. The waitress was careless and rude. She dumped the noodle soup on our table and walked away without a word of apology. It’s a waste of time and money and should’ve been 1 star. +1 star for the sushi chef who seems to be nice.

New restaurant: expanded menu, much higher prices, brighter than before.

Definitely overrated. Sushi was good but non-sushi items such as fried chicken or udon noodles were disappointing, either too dry or too bland. With this quality I think it was overpriced. Also we went in at “rush hour”. The restaurant just opened and there were many orders going in simultaneously, as a result we waited a long time for our food.

This is a must go sushi stop! Walking into the restaurant and immediately began to relax! Beautiful decor and tables were not too close to one another to be comfortable.
The service was top notch! Our waiter was patient with our questions, made good honest suggestions, and our cups never ran out! Dishes were cleared promptly upon finishing the food but we never felt rushed.
But enough of all that... the real clincher in this gem is the food! Oh my goodness! Seriously may have found a new favorite sushi roll in the Bobby roll. Real dungeness crab (not at all skimpy on that), avocado and cucumber and just perfect! We also loved the california rolls with real snow crab, the vegetable roll, avocado roll, gyoza soup, and the tempura! Everything was so fresh, great portions and tasty!
Can't wait to go back!!

Amazing food! Sushi chefs and staff are so friendly and attentive. It is such a welcoming environment and I love that the staff remembers your name, and you don’t have to make a reservation! I will absolutely be back and this is now my fav sushi spot!

The wait after ordering is pretty long if you come during dinner hours. Food came almost an hour after ordering, and food portion was small for the price. Recommend coming during their happy hours

Amazing food! This place has the traditional but high quality nigiri/sashimi/sushi/noodles options but also some very good fusion options like the Sushi Nachos, and Norilicious(Deep fried Seaweed with Parm cheese and other toppings).
Chef's Bobby and Steven were great souls to talk to while they prepared some amazing sushi rolls and nigiri.. overall one of our new favorite spots for sushi and looking forward to coming back!

We came as a party of 3,
Every dish from starters to dessert was pure excellent. A lot of flavor in the dishes.
Music was great, staff was incredible, friendly and work very hard. Nancy served us and did a wonderful job, very sweet and caring!
Highly recommend to any sushi enthusiasts. Fell in love with the Stevan Roll, we will back again!

Overpriced and poor service!!
I understand that it is a busy Friday evening, but even when I try to order more, the server does not come to the our table and even make eye contact. In the end, we left there after paying for insufficient and expensive meals.

Hands down our favorite sushi restaurant in the area. Great quality, warm staff, amazing atmosphere. Most importantly, the food is consistently awesome, and fairly pricing. Feels like eating at a family members house, could not recommend more.

Absolutely incredible food. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Service is outstanding. This will be the only sushi place I visit from now on. Get the Steven Roll. It's life-changing.

I simply cannot recommend Kazoku highly enough. After a long day in Vancouver, our little car of adventurers decided on sushi, and--by random chance--ended up at Kazoku. We walked in, and the restaurant was empty. In any less capable hands, this would have been a red flag for us, but Sumin (who we later learned is the owner!) wasted no time in greeting us, sitting us at a table, and joking that she had emptied the place in advance of our arrival.
The rest of Kazoku's staff were equally kind. They were gracious and exceptionally down-to-earth, making the experience truly special. Then we tasted the food! Kazoku's chefs are excellent. Major props to Bobby and Robert who made our meal: Robert's "Robert Roll" is my favorite sushi roll in the Seattle area. And don't pass on the Nacho Sushi!
Lastly, Sumin--who had already done so much for us over the course of the evening--came to say good night to us and shared her story of opening Kazoku. I don't want to spoil anything, but WHEN you go, please do ask. It was lovely to hear how passionate she is about sushi.
And that passion shows. If you love great sushi and you are looking for a meal home-away-from-home, look no further than Kazoku. We will be coming back VERY soon.

Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. We tried coming here because some other Asian cuisine was closed on Monday, and I'm glad they were. This will definitely be a return spot for us!!

Moved to Seattle 4 months ago and was nervous to try a new sushi place since I am so loyal to my regular spots in NY and CA and didn't want to be disappointed. Well I was wrong! While exquisite, I don't prefer places like Blue Ribbon or Nobu blah blah blah. I am all for the more cozy spots, fancy enough to treat yourself, but not break the bank - and a place where a reservation isn't always necessary. I had the one of the best dining experiences in Seattle at Kazoku and I feel like I must spread the word!
My partner and I had a reservation, but arrived about 20 min early, and they graciously seated us at a roomy table in an almost private corner (like a Koshitsu) that felt like only a reservation months in advance and a large deposit could get you. We were so well cared for and perfectly attended to. Everyone we spoke with was warm and welcoming.
The decor was tastefully done, authentic, minimal but effective, leaving the space bright and airy. I respect those who really commit to the wood. I'm sure this isn't a regular thing, but the music they had playing this Friday night was so fun and lively, think "Lo-Fi Beats to Study To" with a mix of
"89.5 -- Seattle's home to dance". With this playlist, I was ready to throw money down.
Got the tempura appetizer, miso soup, (always), and a bounty of rolls - I cannot believe how amazing everything was and the fish was melting-in-my-mouth delicious. I was a waitress at a classic, cozy, and well loved Japanese restaurant in a coastal CA town and it was a place I was proud to work at, addicted to the food (literally couldn't wait for my post shift meal prepared by the daughter of the owner), had fallen in love with the family that ran it, and was completely heartbroken when the matriarch / owner retired and decided to close. Since then, my favorite spots are always honest and unpretentious family run businesses that serve genuine joy and Kazoku has joined that short list.
Also, the Jinro beer cups - I've always loved that frog. Made me smile seeing him out and about.

The staff are excellent and the fish quality is good. However, I was caught off guard by the wasabi in between the fish and rice on every piece of nagiri. It was overpowering. The jazz music was also turned up a bit too loud and one of the two pieces of squid nagiri had a string in it and chewiness that was unpleasant.
The rest of the meal was great, but overall I was disappointed.

We sat at the bar and felt the warmth of Sushi Chef "OG" Bobby and Sous Chef Robert. Their unique creations are beautifully amazing, buttery, flavorful, traditional and also fusion experience all around. We tried their happy hour menu after 8pm and regular menu. The music is hip and groovy. The owner Sumin greeted us with her bright and cheerful smile. We are definitely coming back. Must try whatever that fancies you. There's something for everyone!

Our first visit...thoroughly impressed! We sat at the bar and had a great time with Stevan and Bobby. Found out that Stevan and I are brothers from another mother because we're both Led Zeppelin super fans!
The food was beyond amazing. I have an obsession with inari and theirs was some of the best I've had, including what I had in Japan. I would recommendations the Stevan and Robert rolls, very good.
Can't wait to go back for the food and the conversation.

Beautiful restaurant. Definitely surprised me when we walked in because we were just trying to get a last minute bite to eat after a long day. Honestly expecting nothing out of the ordinary, but we’re excited as we entered the space… I was blown away. We sat at the Chef Table with Chef Robert and it was an unforgettable experience. The FOH was awesome, everyone that spoke to us was very delightful and helpful. Cannot wait to return with friends to show off this secret little hole in the wall!!!

Sat at the bar, the conversations between the chefs are enjoyable. Service was good, had a bit of a misunderstanding with the amount of nigiri. I think the order sheets that were used before might help with that. Food came out really fast and was delicious. We got some of the more expensive items and so it ended up being about 45 bucks per person before tax. But you could definitely order more food for less if you got rolls instead of nigiri. They have a lot to live up to with how amazing Sushi Moto was, but they’re doing great so far. Still my go-to spot for sushi.

We recently dined here since the switch of ownership. As a member of a family who owns a fish market, I can honestly say we were blown away at the freshness and quality of the seafood. There are not many places we are willing to take our family to when it comes to seafood, but this is a place we will most definitely frequent. Well done Kazoku!
