Went to dinner on New Year’s Eve and they were slammed busy. Every table full and a ton of takeout orders! The entire staff was hustling to get the orders out and did so very professionally! Our server was SO kind and apologized multiple times for the wait. Working in food service myself, I was not bothered by the wait one bit. She also gave us some goodies on the house, which was such an awesome surprise. Great staff and great food! Big props to the team that worked tonight! Ya’ll did awesome! Thank you for a great meal :)

I ordered food to go, Teriyaki chicken, octopus balls and katsu chicken it came with me so soup teriyaki chicken was delicious didn't have to hide under dark sticky sauce so it was charred and flavorful, chicken katsu crispy on the outside moist and juicy on the inside, the octopus balls were delicious as well as the miso soup had plenty seaweed and green onion in it, next time I will try their sushi

We ordered the shrimp with avocado roll along with some other food. When I took a bite of the shrimp roll, there was no avocado at all. So we waived the waitress down and she proceeded to tell us that the avocado is right there. We just said okay and dissected one of the pieces right after but it was all shrimp. Not a single piece of avocado.
The other food we ordered was good, so no issues there.

It's one of the best sushi places I've eaten at. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's definitely worth it. The rolls were generous in size and tasted great. The appetizers came out fast and were also great. The only knock is that I wish it was a little bigger on the inside, and the disposable chop sticks were of better quality.

This is our absolute favorite sushi place around. My family and I go super often and it’s always delicious. It’s very reasonably priced, especially for the amount and quality of fish you get. And not only is the sushi fantastic, every hot entree I’ve tried has also been really yummy. Highly recommend!

For a place that charges ~$27 for "sukiyaki", they didn't get the cut right. The meat was also heavily undercooked, borderline raw, which I did not realize until I was having extreme difficulty trying to bite into a piece. At this point, I'm concerned about potential food poisoning from how undercooked the food was. For those who don't know, Sukiyaki is typically a hot pot dish served with EXTREMELY THIN slices of beef—this is just another example of bastardization. The Mr. Chen roll was probably mid at best, and the curry plate was not served with appropriate utensils, let alone it's limited for those who may have restricted diets (it's a beef curry with beef bits in it, served with chicken katsu). The best thing is probably the Takoyaki, which is an appetizer.
The waitress and server were nice, but it took a while for them to take our order during a lull, and we weren't checked on at all until it was time to pay the bill.
The place itself looked like a weeaboo teenager's bedroom, and it was incredibly dark in there. Some may argue it's for the atmosphere, but it was so poorly lit that I, someone without severe vision impairment, had to squint to read the menu. This is an accessibility issue, to put it lightly.
The prices overall are not worth it. Save yourself the time and go to their competitors in the area like Hakata or Oishi—or take the drive to Tacoma to try out Kura Revolving Sushi.

Three sushi chefs for lunch on a Monday in an obscure strip mall - a great find! We were immediately greeted and continued to have someone check on us while the sushi was prepared. The preparation was not fast but it was sufficient and comparable to what it takes to wrap good rolls. The rolls were tight and the sashimi slices were buttery soft- fresh sushi! They had a large sake selection and authentic Japanese decor. Parking was easy. Highly recommend. We had the spicy California, the Amazing roll, the Rainbow roll, California roll, the Rain roll and the special. All we’re excited!

Placed order via door dash as we have in the past. However, today's delivery had three out of seven items we ordered. Called store and found out they were closed. This is third time that our order was delivered missing half the items we ordered.
Love the food, but not service. Hate to say we are no longer ordering food from here.

This is one of the only places around that serves udon, and the only one worth getting. If I could make their udon myself I would eat it every day, but I'm a terrible cook, so I have no choice but to come back here over and over and over and over....!

A Good spot for sushi in kitsap county at a reasonable price. We get 4 rolls, soup and a side and it’s usually around 60-70$.
4 stars only because I’ve had much fresher sushi in Seattle. But for kitsap, this is our favorite place

My first time coming here because my sister lives it so much! I love sushi and it's hard to find a good place. Their menu had so many great options and variety. We got the miso soup to start and it was so tasty! It's hard to find a good miso, but this one was such a great light, flavorful soup. We got the fried St Helen's and Goku rolls, the goku was probably my favorite. The spicy tuna roll was yummy and had a good portion, it wasn't small like you get at other places. The veggie roll was really good with different textures really amping up the flavor. The last roll was a shrimp and salmon one and, yes, so so good! Service was great our waters were never empty and they made sure we were satisfied.

This sushi restaurant is a hidden gem in the West Bremerton area.
Located inside of a shopping center, Yamazaki is a little restaurant slot that is set to cure your sushi hankering. Their sushi is delicious and well accommodating, so much so that you can even ask the sushi chefs for an item not offered on the menu and they will try to make it for you. Yamazaki offers mainly sushi and/or Asian dishes but does offer some prime cut steaks. They also offer a healthy amount of Asian adult beverages for people of the correct age. Though they offer a bountiful amount of food, they do not charge an obsurd amount of money for their entrées. Is it cheap? That's subjective. However, it affordable? Yes.
The restaurant is a rectangle with the kitchen and sushi bar on one side and the other side is tables/booths for the customers to eat and enjoy their food. The service is polite, easy going, and knowledgeable. They waitresses are very efficient at collecting orders, delivering food, and cleaning up discarded dishes while you dine-in at the Yamazaki restaurant. In terms of dining, you cna obviously do dine-in and order out, however there are no opportunities for outdoor dining. The parking is shared with other businesses in the shopping center however there are plenty of parking and should not be a concern when trying to park.
Overall, if you are feeling adventurous and looking for a new'ish (opened in 2021) sushi restaurant in the Bremerton area do not hesitate to try out Yamazaki Sushi & Steaks.

I would leave negative stars if I could. My husband and I chose this place because it had so many good ratings, but this place severely disappointed. The rice tasted like cardboard and each roll had to be drowned in soy sauce to make it taste even the slightest bit better. I’ve had better sushi at Safeway. I wouldn’t mind paying the price listed for good sushi, but for the quality of the sushi, you couldn’t pay me to eat here again.

Ordered the takoyaki, ribeye steak, and fried tuna roll. Everything was delicious. Would probably try a regular sushi or sashimi next time though. Steak was very good. I had had asked for medium rare and it came out well done so was kinda sad about that but it was still really good. And they have good prices for the rolls. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely the BEST food that I've had in a LONG time!
Went with my daughter expecting a nice lunch at a new restaurant, but were quickly shocked with top-tier flavor like that of The Melting pot in Tacoma!
This place is seriously underrated!
A hidden treasure of Kitsap County!
The staff were attentive, considerate, and patient, and we were even treated to charred salmon nigiri on the house!
This is what we ordered:
Chicken Katsudon bowl
Yakitoki
Plum wine
Miso soup
Japanese cream soda
Sukiyaki steak
10 out of 10 would recommend!!!

3rd time I've ordered from here over the last few years and this just ain't it chief. Food is always mediocre and takes forever. This last time, I ordered at 6, didn't get a confirmation email until 20 minutes later, got a pick-up time of 6:48, and when I got there at 6:45 I was told it'd be another 25 minutes. The salmon sashimi was some of the fishiest I've ever tasted. Everything has just been incredibly bland. At least they don't charge an arm and a leg, relative to other restaurants. But respect your taste buds and spend the extra $10-20 elsewhere.

We were 9 of us present on a Sunday evening for sit-down service. This was my birthday gathering and we were treated with respect and honor. The chef prepared two special sushi platters, miso soup for all and Saki around the table, on the house. We were quite taken by the generosity in action and the artistic presentation of the platters. We all ordered from the menu, and each plate was made with care. Fresh ingredients made for delictable fare. The 9 of us are still talking about our positive eating experience @ Yamazaki Sushi and Steakhouse

I went with a group of people, celebrating a friend's birthday. The restaurant isn't designed for large groups, but the staff went above and beyond to make it work. The service was excelkent as well as the food. They even gave us complentary saki, miso soup, and a sushi platter. The prices were very reasonable. Some of the party had the dinners with teriyaki and salmon, which had great portions. I highly recommend this place.

Wrong order. Waste of money. The previous times I've had their sushi it was really good and worth the price. However, today the sushi tasted weird and the rice was old. AND my order was completely wrong. I'm guessing they were out of spicy salmon...... so instead they gave me crab. In what world is that okay? That is NOT what I ordered.

We used to love this place. Something has changed, maybe ownership or management. The food was subpar all the way around. Our server didn't know the menu. The woman that usually waits on us was manager that night. We ordered many sushi dishes, a steak, and salmon. The steak was gross and usually it's outstanding. The line cooks were outside smoking when we left. I find that weird coming from my restaurant background. We aren't going back. We drive from Port Orchard to go there, plenty of other sushi restaurants in that driving range.

We found this place by accident. Food wise, on the much better side with good fresh fish - the tuna (maguro) nigiri was excellent! It’s in a very typical American “strip mall” type location next to Safeway (very culturally “American” lacking any real decor). You read from other reviews it’s “very Japanese” inside?? I was born and raised in Japan and I can promise you it’s NOT typical Japanese! Otherwise, the food is good, the service is FANTASTIC, and the atmosphere is very friendly. We have finally found a local sushi restaurant we’ll be going back to OFTEN! Overall, 5 stars!

I have visited Yamazaki Sushi & Steaks several times since I moved to Kitsap County last year. Believe it or not, this restaurant is now my go-to sushi spot when I have friends or family visiting town.
I’ve had sushi from a variety of places on the peninsula, Seattle, and more. The first time I tasted this sushi, however, I was blown away by the quality and freshness of the sushi! And that’s why I continue to come back to Yamazaki. The fish is high-quality, fresh, and tastes incredible.
Now let’s talk about the Fried Jalapeño Salmon Skin appetizer. Think Jalapeño Tempura with bits of meaty, delicious Salmon Skin Tempura. (And don’t forget that sriracha mayo on the side) It is unbelievably yummy. The extra bit of salmon meat in every bite makes it taste so much more savory, not just flakey fried skin I’ve had at other restaurants. It’s a must-have every time!
The specialty rolls are reasonably-priced and taste spectacular. The Amazing Roll definitely lives up to its name, with the black pepper tuna. I had never tried a black pepper roll before this one and it is my absolute favorite. I order it every time! I’ve had just about every specialty roll on the menu, but my favorites are the Amazing, Saint Helen, Dynamite, and Rollercoaster Rolls. The Seattle, Goku, and Volcano Rolls are also fantastic!
If you want quality sushi with great flavor without breaking the bank, choose Yamazaki!

I love this local sushi restaurant. Their food is great and the prices are less than you would pay at the grocery store for basic rolls. The chef rolls are priced higher because they are enormous and filled with high quality ingredients. Their tempura is so good too. I'm not sure if it counts when your veggies are fried into delicious crispy devices for soaking up the flavorful sauce that comes with them, but who cares. A favorite of mine and my niece. And the staff couldn't be nicer.

So I would like to start with the fact that the atmosphere of this shop made me feel like I was in an anime sushi bar. The music was very relaxing I think they had Bob Marley playing and the sushi chef was very friendly. As well as the wait staff very attentive and professional. At one point the back of house chef came around and seemed to greet everyone and made us feel not only welcome but like we were being served by family. They are having a valentine's special where you get a free mimosa with your dinner. We ordered a few different appetizers like the gyoza, And albacore tataki. My favorite although I am allergic to shellfish I wasn't uncomfortable with ordering as the place is kept clean. So the rolls we got were the spicy tuna#2 which is my favorite and my GF got the amazing roll and it came out looking like the picture which was a big thing for me. We split the filet mignon and it came with miso, veggies and steamed rice. We enjoyed the strawberry cold sake it was delicious and worth every penny. The entire experience was definitely worth the visit and I highly recommend you try this sushi restaurant if you haven't yet. I've gone all around trying sushi and this place had the best quality with the price. Will definitely go again.

California Roll and Albacore Tataki were really good.
Only reason for two star is the New York Steak was tougher than leather. It was cook to medium as asked and was a little pink..........so the meat quality had to be awful.
It was like taking chewed bubble gum that sat for a while and trying to rechew it. The amount the give you was a lot for $23, I guess that's why they serve leather.

Overall okay. Rice: a bit overdone. Cure: lacking on acid, too sweet. On par with American palette, lots of mayonnaise. The simpler rolls are the best. Do not opt for deep frying the multi fish roll. The fish is rolled on the outside and gets scorched.

This review, unfortunately, is being submitted a little later and not as detailed as I usually do.
A lot has happened recently in my life, and time wasn't there!
Hubby took me to dinner at Yamazaki Sushi and Steak for my birthday (9/27). This restaurant was recommended to me by an employee at our local hospital.
This restaurant is known for its large variety of sushi, hence the name, with few other options to choose from; although having minimal choice, there was enough selection for us to pick dinner.
As a starter, we had Fried Seafood Cream Cheese Gyoza.
The only thing we regretted about this appetizer was the lack of not having a lot more of it!
Cream cheese, crab meat, shrimp, corn, celery, and cheddar cheese fill these six yummy little gyozas; although six gyozas are included in this appetizer, I could have devoured many more!
Onward bound to our main dishes.
I had Chicken Yakisoba, and hubby had Sukiyaki Steak.
I enjoyed my Chicken Yakisoba with the veggies. There was a definite background taste of smoke that was a little hard to get past at times, but generally, the meal was good and overall tasty.
But, my hubby's Sukiyaki Steak was so tasty; the teriyaki sauce I wouldn't say was spicy like they claim; nonetheless, the flavors were deep and flavorful and left us wanting more!
But for anyone interested or who wants sushi or sashimi, this may be a great place to try. They offer many choices, from a basic California roll to some of their more exotic-sounding rolls like an Amazing roll, Kurama roll, Eel Cucumber roll, or maybe a classic Maki combo.
Their Kitsap Lake fried rolls, Volcano rolls, and Seattle rolls sound divine to me, and although being fried, which we try and avoid, at some point, I may have to try those, or at least one of those lol.
My qualm would be that there were no tables with chairs, only booths and counter seating were available. Although I didn't sink down as much while sitting in this booth as I do most, I did feel short trying to eat my food.
My most significant complaint was that the music was so loud, almost unbearable. To hold a one-to-one conversation, both parties would have to raise their voice to an uncomfortable level of talking just so the other party could hear you. Luckily, halfway through our meal, the music was lowered to an acceptable level; I guess another patron said something.
The restaurant was clean, with no sticky floors, tables or
menus.
Our server was friendly and attentive.
Overall we would go back.
Anyone interested in trying Yamazaki Sushi and Steak can find them next to the Safeway in East Bremerton. 1405 Northeast McWilliams Road in Bremerton, Washington.
I hope you all have a remarkable Fall! Thank you for being so committed to supporting locally owned small businesses, and please remember, be kind to ALL living things!!!

Great atmosphere! Odd choice of music, though...I think it was reggae. The sushi was decent, but the rolls were smallish. My tekkadon meal was good, though the fish wasn't marinated like in traditional tekkadon, just sashimi, but still so good and beautiful, even with half of it just seaweed. The takoyaki was lava hot, barely had any octopus in it, and is served with "yum yum sauce" the American way. The miso soup is made correctly and is good. Steak was well cooked, but they go a little overboard on the corn starch.

Size of rolls is unbelievably small, they put a drop of wasabi to your order, even if you order several rolls.

Amazing food with interactive cooks they will take and will always greet you with a smile

Good place to eat. However, after sampling here and few other places in town, it feels like this restaurant's rolls are smaller and thinner than others. So... yeah.. maybe there's that reason to go back to Joa and other locations.

Always a good time. Great food and good service. Never had a bad experience yet.

The food is really good. If you're looking for rolls that aren't drown in sauce, deep fried, or full of cream cheese you're not going to find much you like. I like the protein in a sushi roll to be dominant. Not overpowered by teriyaki sauce.
My real complaint though is the wasabi. Since the day they opened they have been incredibly stingy with their wasabi. Order three rolls for two people, get one thumbnail size dab of wasabi. It's fine when you're in-person and you can ask the waitress for more but when you make a big order to eat at home and you run out of wasabi it makes for a disappointing end to a meal. You used to be able to make comments when submitting an online order and I would ask for extra wasabi. Now they've removed that feature from their website.
If you're ordering for takeout or delivery, be prepared for disappointment if you don't keep wasabi in your fridge.

The food was amazing and a small but private atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visit here and will be returning to try more of the menu!

Everything about this place is okay. Not bad, not great, but okay.

The Rollercoaster sushi rolls are delicious. They have a nice kick to them, but not too spicy

Excellent sushi ! Very high grade quality fish, and knowledgeable & seasoned sushi chefs. The presentation was just as good as the combination of ingredients & flavors. I am very critical, in sushi quality & presentation, and I would highly recommend this place, to anyone !

This is hands down my favorite sushi spot in Washington. Super comfortable, great service, and the best fish.

First time eating here and the food was nothing short of amazing. The steak was so tender and flavorful. The seafood gyoza was a very pleasant surprise! And the spider roll wasn’t the one I wanted but ended up being a great choice since they couldn’t make the one I ordered.

Love the cozy feel of the restaurant. Staffs are very tentative. Food is delicious. I had the salmon and shrimp plate. The mayo sauce is very Japanese, I love it. I came with my little infant grand baby. I was nervous that he might make loud noise and disturb others. Turned out we had a great time. Staffs accommodate us well, give us a good roomy seating for my stroller. Thank you for the great service. It is what I’m looking for when going to a Japanese restaurant: great service, great food and awesome environment. Thank you again ❤️

Please don't come here if you desire traditional sushi. Their gyoza is deep fried and the insides resemble that of boiled crab ragoon. Their sushi rolls were not well put together and looked mashed, crushed, and off color. The rice outside of the roll was mushy yet oddly very vinegary. We couldn't finish what we ordered. Ensure that you don't get placed in the far back booth, it smelt of urine and cleaning chemicals due to it's proximity to the bathroom and kitchen. They get an extra star for their staff, quick and friendly.
We luckily drove to Hakata in Silverdale afterwards, despite their lackluster atmosphere, the sushi was absolutely delicious!

Really hit and miss here. Sometimes the sushi is great but we had it door dashed and the quality just wasn't there. Disappointing because we've had good quality food here in the past.

The sushi was ok but not something I would eat again. They no longer offer lobster but it was still on the menu. Prices were about average and the staff was friendly.

So, ordered on DoorDash, and overall a great experience. But I do have some very minor complaints.
First off, the pork buns were OUTSTANDING. I will 100% order those again. And I won’t just order one, I’ll order 2. Spot on perfection!!!
Rolls were excellent, the salmon nigiri was perfect. Cut properly, great fish/rice ratio etc.
My only complaints, one is pretty big and one is small. I ordered snow crab nigiri. And when you think nigiri, typically it’s just the protein on top of rice. That’s it. So I ordered the snow crab nigiri and was super disappointed with it because I was expecting a whole piece of snow crab leg on top of rice. Instead it was a rice roll (rice wrapped in seaweed) and a crab salad on top. It shouldn’t have had the seaweed, and the snow crab should not have been a salad. It’s very deceptive to customers to pay $8.50 for 2 pieces of nigiri and get a crab salad. How do I know it’s actually snow crab? How do I know it’s not Imitation crab? I don’t. So with that being said, I won’t be ordering that again. Just seems very dishonest to customers to give them a crab salad instead of lump crab meat when it’s called “snow crab nigiri”.
The second complaint is the “chefs sauce” or whatever it’s called. It’s just wasabi Mayo. So I’m just a huge fan of calling things as they are. Just call it wasabi Mayo. Not much “special” about it.
Overall good experience. Will absolutely order again. I just know what I will stay away from and I know that the special sauce ain’t special.

Well, I have eaten here before, and enjoyed it, but the hours say they close at 2 PM and my husband and I wanted to eat a late lunch, so we arrived at 1:30 on a Friday and they would not serve us because they were already closed. I may return... I may not. There are a lot of local guys competing for my business.

Almost always an amazing experience. Some great sushi and hoping it doesn't go downhill like trappers did shortly after it got to this location.

Food was delicious and the service was great! The smoked salmon jalapeño poppers were out of this world!!
If you haven't been here yet you need to go!

Ordered the steak dinner, Fujiyama roll and salmon stuffed jalapeños. The steak (ordered medium) was on point. Good sized portion too. Salmon stuffed jalapeños were packed full of salmon! Heavy poor on a glass wine.
