Definitely come to sake for the half-price sushi served from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. everyday. It's phenomenal and the drink specials are great. It's a friendly family oriented atmosphere with a great bar staff and an even greater management staff. I can't recommend this Virginian restaurant enough.

A great hibachi restaurant in the Woodbridge area.
This is the corner store in a line of stores situated on the corner of Potomac Mills Road and Gideon Drive. It may not look like much from the outside but don’t let that fool you. There is plenty of parking directly in front of the location. I would recommend reservations as this place can get busy. The decor is tastefully minimalist, enhancing the dining experience without distraction. It seems to have 3 different areas inside the restaurant: regular tables to the right, a bar in the middle, and a large area with many hibachi tables seating 8 people each for most of them. Our party checked in with the hostess and we were seated immediately on one side of the table. They seated another group across from us. We ordered drinks and dinners. The menu showcases a fusion of traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine, featuring expertly crafted sushi rolls, sashimi platters, and savory hot dishes like teriyaki and tempura. The food was cooked at our table with a chef who did a good job making it enjoyable and had large portions. The prices are a little bit higher with the prices for hibachi dinners ranging from $20 to $40 but the food and service were well worth it. . Overall, the restaurant offers a delightful blend of ambiance, cuisine, and community spirit, making it a must-visit destination for Japanese food enthusiasts in the area.

Please have a proper sign on the door as to where the correct entrance is. There are two doors which look like an entrance, and only one is open, so quite confusing for some people, as they were trying to get in through the wrong door. It's a HUGE establishment, but not enough people to serve and manage, even on a Thursday evening. We had to wait quite a bit for service, even to just get a refill of water.
The Hibachi tables have two useless end seats, that you can't even see the show of your food being cooked, so please don't seat anyone in these useless seats, I asked to move, and as they were trying to fill up the table the manager or owner who came out, had a bit of an attitude.
Our appetizers finally came out while we were watching our skilled chef doing his fancy moves which was very good, although he didn't talk much, he was entertaining.
A bit disappointed with the Sushi, as both were just ok, and fried, which wasn't expecting, plus the Tuna inside the Jalapeño poppers were cooked and it seemed dry and a bit old, as they must have been made in advance.
The drinks at happy hour, wow!! Really liked them, especially the Leeche Martini.
I would go to this spot again, just not anytime soon, as it was a bit pricy for a regular dinner, maybe for a special occasion.

This was my first visit.
Daniel was my Server. He was polite and attentive. He did struggle with explaining to me what “Sushi Candy” was on the menu.
My Miso soup was served lukewarm. I should have sent it back because warm soup is actually quite prone to have high levels of bacteria if it’s been held this way all day long. This is not a food safe practice. But, I was in a hurry so I drank down my lukewarm Miso soup.
I ordered the Sushi Sampler for $8.95. Excellent value as you get 5 pieces. The Sushi was excellent and fresh.
I also ordered the Salmon Tartare which consisted of salmon, avocado and some crunchy topping… this was also excellent. I would order this again for sure. Overall good experience. They just need to keep soup hot and not serve it warm.

This is my second visit here.
The first visit was 2023, in the seated area which was really intimate. We had a nice time. The server came a few times to check on us, as we were going over the menu because we hadn't been there before. I like to have in house feedback with their personal preference and/or what's a favorite. We chose a salmon dish to share, crab Rangoon (which not everyone makes the same but there's was really good and the sauce) and a raw sushi roll 🍣. Everything tastes great except my tastes buds weren't too keen with the salmon, as it was a bit warmer than I expected. We should've stopped there but decided to try their volcano roll, which was pretty good. Different from the ones I've tried.
The second visit we did the Hibachi experience. Our waiter, Herman, was nice and the gentleman that cooked our food was a bit entertaining. We ordered the steak and shrimp and chicken. We also ordered the crab rangoon. They provided the salad with the dressing that I love, and the soup. We were going to order a sushi roll but it was already too much food. I took half of it. The steak was cooked medium well. Which for someone that likes it well done, it was great. Everything was lovely. We will be back.

Food and staff are amazing I have been here many times and even celebrated my birthday as well as other friends and family members birthdays. They sing play the drums and give out a birthday ice cream treat. I live at least 35 miles away. I enjoy the food and atmosphere. Prices are reasonable especially for a hibachi. Very clean staff walk around and clean. Very nice ambience; lights and fish pond inside. Comfortable chairs, sturdy and big.

While the food was good, the service was not. We didn’t even have our coats off and the server was asking for our drink and food order. We gave our drink orders and ask if we could have a few minutes to look at the menu. He returned in a few minutes with our drinks and then immediately wanted our food order. We reluctantly gave our appetizer and entree orders. My husband and our friends had to hunt down our server because we did not receive our appetizers. We finally got them when we were eating our entrees. Aren’t appetizers supposed to be served before the main course? While all 5 of us in our party were still eating, the server came over and asked if we needed a box. I told him I was not sure as I was still eating. However, he proceeded to bring each one of us a box. The whole entire meal we all felt very rushed. The restaurant was not packed and there were plenty of empty tables. We could not even sit and chat after our meal as they started cleaning the table. Will go to Sakura next time. Also, 18% gratuity is added to the check so there is no incentive to give good service.

Not many people at restaurant, we were a group of five. Food trickled out from kitchen. Serve two, then a different table, brought out one more along with meals from another table, brought out one more. Then waited, finally brought out my food.
Watch the receipt...they automatically put a tip on meal and they gave themselves a good one too.

I ALWAYS love the sushi here. The preparation and presentation are always on point. However, it was my first time on the hibachi side. Too much soy sauce on all the food. Lobster was cooked too long. My fave appy is the yellowtail jalapeño dish. I think it's a ponzu sauce that it sits in that completes the flavor.

I used to come here all the time and I am usually satisfied however, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had I believe the Manager seated us at the table and she was on her phone the whole time our server was really nice and sweet. I wanted to try the fried cheesecake however I was a fan of it and he looked back at the manager and then back at me and told me he wasn’t able to take it off the check and nowhere was there assigned nor on the menu that states that policy I went to the bathroom to ask my friend to hold the check and so I got back and the whole time she was mean, mugging us on her phone and looking us up and down it was a very hostile environment and their customer satisfaction definitely needs work

The food and my server was great however as I was eating, I noticed that the lady who I assume is a manager, was very rude to her employees. She was yelling at them and too close to their faces. She was also raising her voice at the kitchen staff :/ The staff deserve much better.

FOUND PARASITE WORM IN MY SASHIMI FISH!!! Initially after opening it was great quality everything now their quality has gone down. I order sashimi and sushi from there alot and lately I get bones in salmon pieces and found a parasite worm alive in one of my white fish pieces. I called to talk to manager twice both times not in and they will call me back it's Been 3 weeks no call back. BEEN WAY OVER 6 MONTHS TRYING TO TALK TO MANAGER NO RESPONSE. Always not in restaurant and they will call me back. Never get a call back still. I don't even know if they checked the other fish I told them don't you want to know which fish. The lady on phone acted as if no big deal. I could have ate a worm thank God I don't think I did. Still early on that issue to tell. I'll add pictures and video to page but I don't know if they will take them down I'm sure they will. I wont take down videos of parasite found in their raw sushi but they might. When manager agrees to speek to me on this issue I will update this review but it's been a very long time no luck speaking with manager they are never in. So they don't seem to care they served a customer a parasite live worm. Be careful when eating here that's all I can say.

We tried this place due to the fact they had some buy one get one free options on door dash. It was not good. We had a sample of sushi which included the salmon skin, tuna, phili, and shrimp tempura. The tuna did not taste fresh, the phili roll had krab in it and it should have been salmon, the salmon skin was chewy, the shrimp tempura was good. We also ordered fried oysters which tasted rancid. No one in our party could get past one bite. I personally could not get passed the smell. The crab Rangoon tasted good but we're barely filled. The calamari was just ok, not well seasoned. The spring rolls and dumplings were both very good. Overall I would not order from here again, no matter what the special or promotion may be.

I liked the decorations and the service was nice, so I had decent expectations for the food, but it was somehow very, very unappetizing. The miso soup tasted more like salty chicken broth and the seaweed was more like chewing into lettuce, it was odd. And I don't even know how, but the sushi was bland, the spicy salmons rolls weren't even spicy and had no flavor at all somehow. Like biting into a chewed piece of old gum. None of the sushi stood out to me, and even my favorite kinds that I've liked even at their worst, like shrimp tempura rolls, tasted old and not so good. Thinking about it, probably not the best idea to order sushi at a steak house, but if they have 2 entire menus for it, I'm expecting something at least a little better than Harris Teeter sushi.

UPDATE!!! ROACHES!! Multiple, everywhere !!
Prior review:
Sushi is great BUT.. I arrive 48 minutes before closing to sit at the sushi bar to have sushi. I felt that the staff was rushing me and were disappointed at my "late" arrival. While the sushi chefs were rushing to prepare my order, one gentleman walked out from the back and glare at them. That's when I noticed the two chefs quicken their pase.
This is the second time I've had this done at this establishment, it reminds me of teenagers hurrying to close up a business so they can go and party on a Friday night or Saturday night.
The staff started turning off half the interior lights before I finished eating. When I walked out at 9:22pm and reached my vehicle, all the restaurant's light were off.
Note to management: If you are going to rush your patrons out of your establishment prior to your documented closing time, put a sign up saying kitchen closes at 9pm, establishment closes at 9:30.
Poor business practice!

My recent visit to Sake Japanese Steakhouse was a delightful journey into the world of sushi perfection. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly in a cozy, intimate setting.
The sushi selection at Sake is nothing short of impressive. Each piece was a work of art, meticulously crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that showcased the chef's skill and attention to detail. We personally ordered the Love Boat, and the presentation of the food was just marvelous.
The service was exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, our server guided us through the menu with expert recommendations that perfectly complemented our preferences. The ambiance was relaxed yet refined, making it an ideal spot for a date night or a gathering with friends.
Overall, Sake Japanese Steakhouse stands out not only for its outstanding sushi but also for its commitment to providing a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or new to Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend Sake Japanese Steakhouse for a great Japanese dining experience.

If I could give the food zero stars I would. Not because the food is bad but because someone in my family ordered sushi and there was a full size roach literally on the plate with the sushi. I don't even know how that happens. Some people in the family went to the bathroom feeling like they were going to be sick and it was overall kind of bad considering the fact that this sushi was ordered right after everybody had already eaten their hibachi so when people saw the roach they got all queezy because who knows what could have been in what they just ate. The service and atmosphere was okay but it doesn't really matter if there are roaches on dishes.
Edit responding to owner's question: it wasn't in the past few day, it was a while ago buy one of my friends who just recently went there said that he saw bugs on the floor and bathroom so he told me to write a review not to mention I had a bad experience myself when I went.

Decided to come here with my friends to experience what hibachi was like. The outside wasn’t much, but we were shocked after we entered. They have a little pond where there was live fish and even a turtle! The decorations were quite amazing and I was hit with the aroma of delicious grilled meat. We were seated immediately and given menus. The table was clean and the plates were placed neatly.
The waiter came and first got our drinks which got to me and my friends fast. We all got water and I got the hibachi combo shrimp and salmon. The host had also told me about the HALF PRICE SUSHI deal that was going on. I ordered two California rolls and the BBQ short ribs. These appetizers were amazing. I recommend the short ribs to anyone who wants to come here. When the chef came, he did some tricks with his spatula and then started cooking. He made an onion volcano and made a big fire. It was very amusing.
My protein was cooked nicely. My salmon was soft and had a good lemon taste. My friends recommended me mix the yum yum sauce with my fried rice which was soooo good. As I ate, the drums were played loudly. I saw them bring the drum to a table to sing “Happy Birthday” to someone and the beat was good. After I was done, there were many places in the restaurant where my friends and I took pictures together. Overall, very nice place to go if you are looking to celebrate something. I am probably going to come here again for my birthday for the free ice cream.

This place is underrated. Four stars only, really? It's a great atmosphere, the chef we got has great hibachi skills (spatulajutsu, I think), and the food was cooked perfectly.

As someone who has worked at a very popular hibachi and sushi bar for years I am a little biased and my standards are high. This food is acceptable, but did not scratch my hibachi and sushi itch. We had appetizers, hibachi, and sushi. The flavors were tasty, but muted. The service was quick, nice, and attentive. The atmosphere was interesting, cute, and clean. The place looks nice and you do not need a reservation for hibachi. When you walk through the door it smells like an old casino. My daughter got 2 California rolls, she said there was over ripe avacados on them. The hibachi chef was alright… the food was very bland with very little flavor. I ordered a lemon drop martini and it tasted like watered down sprite, I returned it, it was gross. I will not go back to this restaurant.

Yummy sushi (ny rolls were awesome), just ok hibachi. It may have been a Monday night, but the cook on the grill didn't put on any kind of show, he overcooked meat (not terribly so), but the big sin was no seasoning on the steak. Most of my party got the ny strip steak, but there was no way to tell that is what we had. It was tender, but that is all. We will definitely be back, but probably for a sushi night instead.

The server was nice. Everything else not good. The cook cross contaminated cooking seafood and chicken/steak. I mentioned it to the chef and he just pushed the food away from the seafood. Then goes to put the vegetables on the same place he cooked the salmon on. As I start to eat, I noticed hair in my food. When I spoke to the manager, he responds “well who hair is it?” As if I put the hair there. Then walks off without even apologizing. Customer service is horrible here.

Killer happy hour from 4-7 and a selection of half priced rolls all day make this place feel like an absolute steal. Love to sit at their bartop, the bartenders are always lovely. Try the arigato roll!

If you want the best sushi and hibachi in Woodbridge then this is the place. Other places dont even have legitimate yakisoba.
The atmosphere is amazing and the people are so happy to see us every time we go in. The bar is beautiful, and the staff are so attentive! The food is the absolute best, every roll is delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. True Japanese food!
I highly recommend this place, we are now regulars!
(Happy hour is amazing as well)
Also no other place has a turtle!

Best sushi and service in Woodbridge! Great value.

The sushi here is terrible. Got two rolls and both tasted like they weren’t fresh and had stale rice.

DO NOT EAT HERE. the food is awful. Rubbery texture in food, sushi is abhorrent. Management cares more about food costs than guests. I have never been so disgusted at a restaurant in my life. I’ll be telling EVERYONE to avoid this place. You’re better off anywhere else.

Great food every thing is fresh, good service and it is not expensive but definitely worth every penny and then some. Bar vibes are even legit at this place also. I approve !

Had a group of 8. Guessing gratuity was included because service sucked. They brought food out in the wrong order & never came to clear the table. Barely checked on us. Food was okay for the price.

If you like sushi...stay away. If you have never tried sushi, stay away. If you have money and don't know what to do with it, go here.

Their rolls are AMAZING! The Kani Roll, the Maryland Roll, and the Magic Roll are my favorites. If you dine in or order for takeout, they have a half-price sushi menu. Their hibachi is so good! For some entertainment, you can have your food cooked by a chef right in front of you. Sake is the only place around here with mushroom soup, and I look forward to it every time I go 😋 We like to dine in, take out, or have it delivered...we all have those days. Haha

Fantastic place for sushi in this area

This place has been a local staple for years. The food is good and the owner clearly invests the profits maintaining and improving this establishment. The hibachi, sushi, and cocktails stand out, the prices are reasonable, and the service does not dissapointment.

Sake Steak House exceeded my expectations with its phenomenal sushi offerings. The variety and freshness of the sushi were truly remarkable, making it a standout experience for any sushi enthusiast. The hostess Kaitlyn and Jenny, in particular, provided exceptional service, ensuring our dining experience was not only enjoyable but also memorable If you’re a sushi lover looking for a place with both incredible flavors and outstanding service, Sake Steak House is a must-try. Absolutely fantastic!

It was the perfect place to celebrate 🥳 my daughter's birthday! She loved it! Sushi 🍣 was great and the rest of the food was delicious 😋

When your sushi plate comes with a hair on top of it and your server and the manager both say that the hair came from you and not their staff :/ and the hair isn’t even your hair length.
My only fault was that I didn’t see the hair right away cuz I was too busy preparing my soy sauce and getting my chop sticks ready 🤦🏽♀️ and then it took forever for their server to look at me once he was gone.
Needless to say I left the place - I wasn’t looking for free sushi…I was looking for new sushi. I left without any apologies from them.

Food is meh but they give you a decent amount. Fried rice doesn't even have the usual mixed veggies in it. Did not like the salad. Was expecting ginger dressing but came with a mayo based dressing.

First off 3 out of my 10 guests had to send their plate back because it was dirty. I recieved a new one to have to send that back to. When served our drinks we had to wait 10 min for our server to bring our straws. We had to flag down our waiter at least 3 times to get refills. My food was overcooked and everything was bland. Definatly wasn't worth the expensive prices.

This place doesn’t get enough hype. The sushi bar side has an incredible menu of half priced rolls all day everyday. The fish is fresh and plentiful and not what you’d expect when ordering half priced sushi. You get the full price portions. The service is kind and so generous and the ambiance is much quieter and enjoyable than the neighboring hibachi restaurant. My daughter had the kids steak hibachi and the portion was massive!! We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back regularly!!!!

Sake Japanese Steakhouse was really nice, for those who haven't been it's like hibachi they bring out the meats and it gets cooked right in front of you. The food was really good we ordered the shrimp, marinated bulgogi( it has pepper seeds in it for those that like the spice) and the seasoned pork belly. They have these robots that go around the restaurant, too, like little automated bus boys lol, so that's why I was wondering why it took so long for someone to seat us Anand it wasn't very busy tbh. Overall experience was a 3. 9( just bc its kinda dark in there n im just nit a fan of dark lights where my food is served), but we'll make it an even 4, definitely would go back.

I ordered shrimp and scallops for $30.00 and the Chef shared it with the rest of party,I ate 3 scallops and 2 shrimp and it was very salty,a lot of rice and vegetables on a big plate to make you THINK you're getting your money's worth, lol I was not impressed.

The food was a bit spicy for me, but the other 8 people in my party loved it! The atmosphere was great. Our waiter performed tricks, Sang a song, he kept us laughing! Great experience!

Disappointed, the chef wasn't trained to entertain. The food wasn't portioned fairly. A couple received more food than others. The steak and shrimp had no flavor. They had some yum yum sauce that was terrible. One of my favorite Teppanyaki restaurants offers a spicy mustard sauce and a seafood sauce. The Goyza were bland. Not worth the drive.. ☹️

I am still giving this restaurant 4 stars, but this particular evening an extra person was sat at the table. Even though the staff could tell she had too many drinks, they didnt ask her to leave and also gave her another drink and was loud enough for us to hear they were trying to help her order an uber home. After being in the food industry myself, it shouldnt have ever gotten that far if it was an experienced bartender.

When you first walk into the restaurant you feel the atmosphere is really hip. There is a large pond with waterfall coming down.
Teppanyaki table is very neat and cleaning crew does well job in it. The food and the chef’s actions were very professional and fun. My little child and wife had a wonderful time. I would recommend even bigger group if you are coming here for an event. Their sushi rolls and other appetizers were amazing too. Try them out! Parking is easy too btw~

The service was fast, professional and overall exceeded expectations. The food was a little salty (a first, I've been there a couple of times), but the portions were generous, and overall a great time.

Michael is a fantastic chef and we love the extensive appetizer options that most hibachi restaurants dont offer, plus sushi! A definite favorite.
