I've only been 1x, great concept, maybe if I new what to expect. It's buffet ,but u don't have to go get your food,waiter takes order and they make it fresh, which is great.but why was my shrimp fried rice last after my friends ate,mine comes? Hot 😡, Place wasn't crowded.started about 15 ended bout 40 people.I probably would try only once again just to see if diff experience.

Ugh, I wanted to love it.. I came here with my kids for a treat. They had the cool robot. The service was meh - the waitress and waiter both acted like they didn’t want to be there and were not personable at all. I had two people with me and the waiter added an automatic gratuity. Very distasteful! I would have given a much bigger tip but the fact that he added it for me rubbed me the wrong way. For 82 bucks, I could have just want to China King. I frequent the one in downtown Norfolk and that location is so much better when it comes to the food and the vibes.

Came here for my birthday dinner at the very end of the year. They were pretty busy due to the holidays and were down to one sushi chef, so they warned us when we were sat that it may be a few minutes to get our meals. Ariyan was our server and he was very attentive and helpful! The sushi was relatively quick despite the warning, which leads me to believe they’re usually super fast! We got sweet potato, eel avocado, orchard roll, dragon roll, American dream roll, and rainbow roll! We almost had to be rolled out of there, we were so full and it was so delicious!

I've visited this restaurant with different name changes since 2009. This used to be our favorite buffet restaurant. It makes us sad that it's gone so down hill. The food is now flavorless and not worth the $80+ for 3 people. We had a little bit of everything and it's just not what it used to be.

WOW, just WOW!
I've lived 2min away from this amazing buffet for 15 years and never went just because of the rating that was below 4.
Totally ignore that I promise!
Went there just because I was completely bored with buffets in Hilltop area and Yama, Domo or Molly sushi but still wanted some sushi...
And that's how I discovered my new favorite place for sushi and buffet in general!
Place is amazing and not crowded (i guess because of the same reason I never went there before)
It's clean, extremely fast service and super fresh sushi, amazing customer service! Since this was our first time I asked for a brief explanation on how everything works there and the menu and she spent the next couple minutes explaining us everything in extremely friendly manner and it was obvious she was really trying to take care of us in the best way possible and she definitely did! 💕
I can probably keep writing forever how impressed I was today... Hibachi shrimp with veggies were amazing and my favorite sushi roll is Philadelphia roll and I always eat it everywhere so trust me when I say that this IS the best Philadelphia roll I've ever tried! Just look at it in attached photo! It has more cream cheese than rice!!!! And salmon was smoked 🤤 1000⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars out of 10 😇
I was so happy with everything that leaving 50% tip felt like it wasn't enough for the experience that I got 🔥
Also just wanted to mention that we were served by a cute young lady with glasses, special thanks for your service 🤗

TERRIBLE experience. The extremely slow service that we did get was very subpar. Could not hear/understand the waiter. Even one of the employees was using a section of the wall to do pull-ups instead of waiting on customers! It was supposed to be all you can eat and the waiter never checked on us so we could order more food. The sushi was eatable but certainly not cold, leading me to question food safety. The building is in a terrible state of repair. Flooring is coming up and the bathrooms are ATROCIOUS. Bathroom walls missing tiles, lights not working, broken faucet handles, and the toilet bowl was absolutely disgusting. Will NEVER be back. THE ONLY REASON I PAID WAS SO I DID NOT END UP ON WAVY 10.

I don’t know why this sushi king is so bad considering I go to the centerville and downtown Norfolk locations often and both have always been great. I’ve been here 3 times now to see if they have gotten better but nope! The building seems unfinished and has a very boring bland atmosphere. The service is slow and rude while the food always comes out cold and small portions. Definitely not worth the price I’m honestly surprised they haven’t closed this location down yet. Please do yourself a favor and go to centerville location instead

He was very honest and said " I can tell them but they will not clean the grill". I thanked him and we left. I'm thankful he let us know. I will not attend this restaurant in the future.

Their food is great but I do have a problem with the website not being accurate. When going online to see the prices and times it should be the same as in the restaurant. When you have a large party you're busy talking and paying attention to the children when you enter so you're not really looking at signs especially if there's someone standing in front of it. It's a shocking experience when you recieve the bill and it's NOT the same as the website and then you're told there's a sign in front of the counter... that everyone stands in front of before being seated. It's hard to plan things when you're from out of town without accuracy. Attention needs to be made to details.

Ordered 2 fried rolls and an order of shrimp tempura all three were undercooked. Ordered 2 pieces of tamago and was brought 5 pieces of salmon and when i brought it up he just kept saying ordered salmon and never brought me tamago. The miso soup was gross, The yakitori and takoyaki were fine, the spider roll was Absolutely disgusting i dont know what they did to it but it was unbearable to eat.

The hibachi shrimp and veggies were good, but the hand rolls/specialty rolls weren’t the best. They seemed to be prepackaged and fried or it could have been old grease. The rice was over cooked and mushy. The robot is a little odd and having a waiter instead would improve the ambiance. The soda machine or the cups had an after taste, like soap flavor/after taste, but the dining area was clean and the staff were friendly. Our food came out quickly.

The worst Sushi King I’ve been to. Sat down ordered a sweet tea, never got it even after asking for it a second time. Asked for a high chair, never received it. Placed our family’s first order everyone got something from their order but me. I had to wait 20mins after my fiancé already ate his first plate for my miso soup that they just have to ladle out of the already made soup station, as well as one California roll. My California roll only had crab in one slice of it, was the worst California roll I’ve had in my entire life. We were never asked if we wanted to order anything again and our waiter was sitting around the entire time. I left starving and annoyed. DO NOT RECOMMEND this location.

I really loved the ambiance of this updated restaurant. Their sake and mixed drinks have good flavor but not very much alcohol. The hibachi was very tasteful and the portions were perfect. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our 7 different rolls and shrimp tempora. They were very flavourful and easy on the palate. Overall, this was a good all you can eat sushi restaurant. I was unable to take photos of everything we enjoyed, but I will attach a couple.

The rice was mushy and way over cooked. As an Asian, I make it a point to never waste rice, but this was the first time I picked the ingredients out... I wanted to try more rolls, but I knew the entire batch of rice would be the same. IMHO, if you don't even have good sushi rice, why make sushi?
Escolar was luke warm, and it was too drenched in eel sauce for my taste. I could have forgiven the rest of it weren't for the rice, which really ruined the whole experience for me. Shame too, nice atmosphere, waiters and staff were great. But it really made me miss Sushi Masa....

Stopped in for a quick lunch today and had a great experience. Service was great and the adorable little robot bringing food to the table was a fun feature. All you can eat sushi was definitely worth the value (obviously you will want to leave a good tip regardless 😉). Highly recommend the yakitori my fiancé said he could have eaten 4 orders easily. The orchard roll was my personal favorite , we did try the Christmas roll and the Hollywood roll. Hollywood roll was delicious and buttery soft, the Christmas roll was on point as well. 10/10 would recommend.

Food quality was terrible. All the rolls had overcooked/watery rice. The tempura texture felt overcooked or maybe greasy. Our server seemed nonchalant about everything and wasn't very attentive to the table. It may have just been a bad day or a inexperienced cook. We always go to Monticello location but was on that side for my sons' party. My youngest usually eats several rolls but he suddenly was "full" after his first plate. I know for the future to stick to the location that blows this one out the water.

I usually don’t leave bad reviews anywhere, but at this price point the service was ridiculous. First we both asked for water and got one water, then we ordered a sake to share and only received one cup. Every time our waters (after asking for the second one) were empty we had to specifically ask to get more water. When we ordered a fried rice they asked if we needed a fork, do people eat rice with chop sticks? Maybe they do but seemed like it should just come with a fork and the fork was a plastic unwrapped fork at that. For $21.99 per person you’d think they could afford silverware. The food wasn’t terrible but not at all worth its price. Just go to Sakura.

First time ever at this sushi king. Ordered a volcano roll, and it came with mushy rice and soggy skin, along with the crab inside of it tasting putrid. I asked if it could be remade and the server took it but never brought it a new one. I also ordered a California roll at the same time and it took nearly 15 minutes before I even got sight of it. That was the only thing that tasted okay. I then ordered hibachi steak. Not only was the steak mushy and lacking flavor, but the veggies were undercooked and the yum yum sauce was nearly the texture of water. I dipped the steak in the sauce and it all just ran off. This has got to be the worst experience I’ve ever had with any restaurant, and I don’t even leave reviews. The server was nice enough to just remove the food from my table, but then asked if I wanted my check then and there. There was absolutely no way I was paying for those plates of disappointment and dissatisfaction. I would not recommend this place at all. It’s been 10 minutes since I left and I feel nauseous as I type this. Absolutely disgusting.

Went there for lunch on Sunday and the place had just opened so there was no one inside dining yet. When we got seated I noticed they only gave us dinner menus. When I asked the server she told me that they do not do lunch prices on the weekends so we ended up paying the dinner price which compared to their advertised lunch prices is substantial. I will probably never attempt to go there for a weekend lunch because of this policy. The sushi was good as well as the service but paying over sixty dollars for just two people for lunch to me is excessive and not worth it.

My husband and I came here since we thought we were going to get served by the cute little robot, however we weren’t. We didn’t really expect much on this restaurant other than the robot seeing that it is rated under 4.0. We came in, we were told that the AC was down. It was okay, we didn’t mind since we weren’t really sweating. We were seated pretty fast, the service isn’t really great other for an AYCE restaurant. We were told to order everything at once, I was a little confused as to what the waiter mean. As minutes goes by, I see why, they weren’t really attentive on getting the finished dish off our plates. They only check with us few times. My husband ordered Teriyaki chicken, it made him lose appetite and didn’t want to reorder again. It was bland and not the best, he was still able to finish that. Meanwhile, I ordered the yellowtail, shrimp, and avocado roll. It was okay but I thought the vinegar on rice was a little too strong and wasn’t really balanced with the flavor. We left after that one order. Regardless, we won’t be back.

This is the worst restaurant I have have eaten at ever in my life, there was hair in my nieces food, the meat was old, and the “manager” got angry at our complaints. When we left the sushi king my family sat in the car and the “manager” walked to his car and grabbed a gun out of his car and flashed us with it. This was horrible experience, the server only came once to take another order, our table didn’t even get the food we ordered. No one got refills on drinks the entire meal. Our food was quick to arrive but definitely have had a lot better sushi at Volcano or other places around here. Have been coming here for a while and food has always been okay quality wise but worth the price. I went there tonight and received a Philadelphia roll with some sort of paper or skin instead a salmon? I’m very confused as to what I ate and had to spit out and extremely disappointed and didn’t even want to finish my meal afterwards. The server didn’t even remove this dish from the table and had to stare at it the rest of the meal which was just super unappetizing. I have ordered this same roll for years and have never experienced this and really deters me from wanting to go to one of my favorite sushi places again.

Went in there yesterday around 5:15 and we put our order in and around 5:45 we were still sitting there and our first order didn’t come. We sat there and watched other people that put their order in after ours getting their food. That was the first time in my life I actually got up and left a restaurant. I will never go to this location again! If I could I would have given 0 stars. Also why do you have a robot in there serving food when there was about 10 employees working or so called working?

I thought the service and the food were great! Plus it’s just a fun place to eat. They have a little robot that delivers food too! My husband and I both had a variety of rolls as well as appetizers. This was our first experience at Sushi King - we were pleasantly surprised and will definitely return!

Not worth the money for the "all you can eat" it should be named "how long can you wait".
Food was good when we eventually got it (an hour and a half after ordering) we had to constantly request our food and got our food in the wrong order.

If Took practically 2 hours to get out food got them in diffrent order than we placed it got apps pretty decent time well compared to what we waited for main course, got cold food and cold teas. Wait staff was not helpful in situation and had to keep reordering and telling them what we were waiting on. Could tell other tables where having same issue heard practically everyone complaining their food wasn’t coming and due to that people started to grab other people’s food. Then they brought one of our rows that was grabbed off another table and served it to us even though we witnessed what just happen and when I pointed it out they didn’t see a problem in that.

Came into town to enjoy a friends birthday & I will never come back to this location. Service was extremely slow..... place wasn't even that busy & it took almost two hours to receive two dishes.... hot food & drinks were coming out cold... do yourself a favor & go to a different location. Do not come here. It's definitely not worth the frustration!

Not recommended. Store not clean, staff relied too heavily on robot that was disgusting, sat for an hour and got soup and drinks.. server even stopped at our table multiple times to check on us while we never got our order. For an all you can eat place 22 per person is a bit steep for this lack of service. The table next to us walked out frustrated, as did we hungrier than we arrived.

Very limited contact with our waiter after being seated. We were constantly approached by waiters with food to our table that was not what we ordered. Our orders too way to long to come to the table. We were a party of 4. Our last order we waited over an hour for only to have the waiter tell us it would be out shortly, then when we asked another waiter what was taking so long, he informed us they were out of rice and the order was never put in by the water. Looking around at the other tables, we all shared the same look of unsatisfaction with the service. Very unacceptable. I do not recommend this place.

The worst of all the Sushi King locations. I didn’t see an actual server the entire time I was there. The host took my order, the robot brought me my food, and no one ever checked on me for another order or to fill my empty drink. The girl cleaning up plates took my plate while I was still eating, did not ask if I was finished. I had to go to the host stand just to get someone to come back to bring me my check.

If there was an option for zero stars, I would've chosen it! This is the WORST experience I have EVER had at any restaurant. First, we ordered appetizers and our meals because we knew what we wanted. They informed us they had no miso soup or yum yum sauce. That was fine, no problem. So, my husband and son both ordered 2 sushi rolls each. 1 of the 2 rolls came out for them, then my meal. I ordered teriyaki steak medium rare. Well, it was WELL WELL DONE. My husband asked several times about the other rolls AND our appetizers that never came out. The waiter said it was "almost done". Finally the other 2 rolls came out WITH our appetizers. My husband and son went ahead and ordered another roll and some yakisoba noodles. The gyoza dumplings weren't hot and tasted a bit mushy. My second order of teriyaki steak came out..but it wasn't teriyaki steak. It was hibachi steak..I didn't order that. They took that and brought me what I actually ordered. My husband's second order of yakisoba noodles never showed up and neither did one of the new orders of sushi. My husband asks to speak to the manager. The manager said he would get the food right out and walked away from us TWICE while we were speaking. By this point we were fed up and asked for the check. They decided to take $2.40 off each meal. My husband refused to pay full price due to the fact we didn't even get our food. They decided to take 20% off the check total. We paid it so we could leave. After we paid, the food showed up on the robot. We just left it. We will NOT be back! The waiter kept saying they were busy but there was hardly anyone there. Then he stated they were short staffed. We get it happens sometimes but let customers know before the check comes out and complaints are made.

One of the worst servers I have ever had. Never came by to fill drinks and when I wanted to order for the second serving he was nowhere to be found. 30 minutes went he was very blunt and short. I paid $74.22 for 3 adult dinners all you can eat and only got 3 volcano rolls. Server Alan was terrible. And expecting a tip for a robot to do your job. No thanks. This place was decent at one point. But now, it's a place everyone should avoid.

I did not enjoy this place... I was very unsatisfied... we ordered 2 appetizers (fries and dumplings), then my husband order 2 different kinds of sushi, i order chicken Teriyaki with rice. My husband recieved his sushi 1st, then I recieved my rice.. (My toddler only wanted fries), I finished my rice and still waited for my chicken, and my husband ordered more sushi. His sushi came and as he began eating it, my chicken showed up and I asked where the dumplings and fries were and he said "oh I forgot" 5 mins later the fries came and not the dumplings. Thank heavens my 2 year old finally got the fries. I never got my dumplings just my check.. my husband was still hungry

We came to this place around 8pm and they made us wait for 40 mins for them to take our orders. Food came after 20-25 mins and the order was incomplete. We tried ordering for our 2nd round of food and waitress took our orders. After 15 mins, she went back to ask us if "we are good" and if we're ready for our check, we told her that we were still waiting for our food, and thats the only time that she told us that the food wasnt gonna come coz we made our orders after 9:15pm and she's the one who told us that we shouldve came early. Place wasnt even busy that time 👎

The worst experience ive ever had in my life. Me and my family waited for about 30 minutes for our drinks and when we told the waitress about our drinks we were told that it was forgotten. Bare in mind we haven’t even ordered. We then waited another 10 minutes for our orders to be taken by the waitress. Then when the food came it was incomplete and we already waited for almost an hour at this point. When we finished our food and ordered for another time she took all of our orders and even followed up on the incomplete orders that we had from the previous order. We then waited for another 30 minutes then our waitress came and she told us what we we’re waiting for. And we told her that we are waiting for the food we ordered. She had the audacity to tell us that we should have came earlier because they only serve until 9pm. But we’ve been since 7:30pm. Never will i ever bring my family here again for the most incompetent and unsatisfactory of service that me and my family had experienced.

Honestly, the worst Sushi I've ever had. Also, the worst Teriyaki chicken and Shrimp Tempora (extremely greasy with gobs of breading). I hate giving bad reviews, and seldom do, but save your money. I would have enjoyed a 25 cent pack of Ramen noodles more.

Food is good nothing to go crazy about. All you can eat but you had to wave down the waiters to get your next order in. I looked on google for the prices and when we got they the prices have gone up so just a warning for that. After a while the seaweed in my sushi was very chewy and it kinda put me off. Once you placed an order it came pretty fast so that's another plus.

Thing have changed. Same cool robot sushi delivery, just bad human service. Waitress asked us at least 5 time if we wanted anything else. She had never brought what we had already ordered. I told her that we would order more when we received and ate what we had already ordered. When we did get our food everything that came from the kitchen was overcooked or out right burned. Burnt chicken teriyaki, burnt fried dish appetizer, burnt salmon over onions, burnt tempura vegetables. The sushi roll was fantastic! Saturday is dinner pricings all day long. No lunch - but if it's good the extra money would be worth it. I pray that they get it together. We were both incredibly disappointed.
