Chinese & Asian fusion eatery with sushi & rolls, served in a relaxed, modern space or delivered.
First time here and we will be back! The staff were very friendly and efficient. We ordered spring rolls and scallion pancakes for appetizers. For our main dishes we ordered fried sweet and sour tofu and vegetable lo mein: everything was very tasty with no need to add extra sauces.

I decided to have lunch at Yen's recently based on the number of positive reviews. After eating there, it's easy to see why it's so highly rated. The food is excellent, the staff attentive, and the experience top-notch. The fruit and yogurt drinks are perfectly blended, and are larger than I was expecting. I had the pineapple chicken fried rice. Again, wonderfully made and a very generous serving. I wish I was going to be in town longer so I could get a few more visits in and try more of their extensive menu. Even if I can't get back before I head home, I have no problem giving them my strongest recommendation.

Heard about this place for a long time and finally got to try it today. Lots of authentic Chinese style decorations throughout the restaurant. Servers were patient. Every dish was delicious. Quite a few authentic Taiwan style dishes. My mom really liked here. We think it’s the best one around Ashburn area. We are very likely coming here again.

We order a sashimi deluxe, naruto roll, shrimp pad thai, pea tips with garlic, chicken fried rice and chicken with broccoli. The sashimi was fresh. The naruto roll was tasty. Shrimp pad thai was perfect. Chicken and broccoli was percect. Chicken fried rice was percect. Nothing was overly salty and fhe quality of the food is perfect. We will definitely stop back if we visit again.

First and foremost, we'll be back! Not only did this place get everything right, but there are many things on the menu that I want to try!
The atmosphere was lovely and very welcoming. There were large groups of people enjoying a late lunch on Saturday (we arrived about 1330). Even though they were busy, we were immediately seated.
My hungry husband went about ordering right away: his go tos are crab wontons, chicken and broccoli, and egg drop soup. I thought the shrimp toast and shrimp and pork dumplings sounded great. I also wanted to try the salted duck egg and green beans, but I thought that would be too much food.
The appetizers were excellent! I loved how BIG the shrimp toast was and how it wasn't too greasy. I loved the addition of ginger to the shrimp, which added to the flavor of the shrimp toast. The crab wontons were crisp and well filled.
Our main courses were giant! The chicken and broccoli had a fantastic sauce, and the broccoli was fresh and crisp. The dumplings were thin but held their filling. The filling was flavorful with giant chunks of shrimp of plenty of veggies.
To top off the experience, our server was very friendly. She would always check on us and provide refills of water. At the end, she provided a delicious little donut filled with custard. It was very warm and just sweet enough. We appreciated the extra touch and left happy and satisfied.

The employees work hard.. got to try some catered greenbeans , mapo tofu (salty), tilapia, soy chicken. Suprisingly good white rice, oyster mushroom and small potatoes. not overly salty or oily compared to similar chinese restaurants. Though cooking's more light on the smokey wok i think. Still consistency and quality catering for 80+ all the way in chantilly-aldie. even threw in some orchird decor. Never seen the chinese congregation so excited for seconds. Anyway poor photos after halfway digging in can't do Yen's justice ... Just go !~

Food is always good. We love the 3 cups chicken, stir fry snow pea tips and stir fry Chinese spinach but today we wanted to try something new. V12 Eggplant In Yu Xirng Sauce was very very good. CK1 Curry Chicken was great and snow pea tips with beef was a bit salty if eat by itself (that's why you should eat with rice, right?). Will come back for more!

I discovered this place thanks to a post in the Reston Foodies Facebook group, and I'm very glad I did. I've never had Taiwanese food specifically and the menu is extensive; I had the fish fillet in the chef's special spicy soy bean sauce, and it was delicious. The server was nice and very helpful with my questions. Ambiance is cute, it's a decently large space and the tables are not crowded together. I will definitely be back.
EDIT: came here with a 1.5 year old and they immediately brought out a high chair and a little Cars-themed plastic kids bowl. They also had no issues with the fact that we had little snacks for him since we weren’t sure what he would eat there (but he ended up loving the bits of their chicken we fed him). Was a great experience dining with a toddler.

We have been coming to Yen’s for years. She is very particular about the food she serves. Her husband makes the best sushi using quality ingredients. Their service is amazing and you know that they care about the food quality. We have heard that Yen does all the shopping for the ingredients herself and it shows in the food we receive. When she first opened she would deliver the food herself, and we lived in a condo with 37 steps to walk up. They are truly hardworking people and we will continue to support them, as we all know that the restaurant business isn’t easy. Gary and Lori Walsh

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for a number of years. After the last couple of times, however, we have decided not to come here anymore. The reason is we have noticed significantly reduced portion of all dishes, while the prices are still creeping up. Some dishes are probably half of the size from a couple of years ago. They looked like leftovers. When you are served with less, you feel like a second-class citizen, not a good feeling. Yen’s Kitchen is on a slippery slope ruining its reputation and, unfortunately like most of Chinese restaurants in America, on the way to self-destruction of its own business. This is just the dumbest thing. It used to be a really good restaurant. I can’t fathom what’s going on in the owner’s mind. Cutting corners and reducing quality is not the way to grow your business or even sustain it. I guess it is no different, maintaining a good reputation and sustaining good business are just not in the culture of Chinese restaurants here.

Was surprised a Chinese in the middle of nowhere. Even more surprised about the restaurant itself. It appears to be as asian fusion type restaurant. The ambient was great. The vibe is top notch. Modern design. Staff was helpful and willing. Restaurant was clean. And the foods were exceptional. Will definitely go back if we are in the area again. We are tourists.

Really great best In ashburn for sure. Spicy chicken it is super good and not too spicy. Offers excellent authentic Taiwanese food and American Chinese food as well. The dumplings are pretty great. I love bitter melon with salty egg or with beef. Egg plant with Basel and egg with dry radish and ma po tofu and delicious braised pork lean yet with a bit fat with bamboo and oyster mushrooms. Really good. Snow pea leave veggies is great. You may ask for less salt and oil . They will cook to your tastes. The best Taiwanese food offered in Ashburn. Dumplings are awesome too . Hot crispy fish also fabulous. Highly Recommend this Yen kitchen at waxpool road.

I recently visited Yen's Kitchen & Sushi Bar and had a mixed experience. The "Broccoli Cauliflower Beef" was the highlight of the meal. The beef was tender, and the combination of broccoli and cauliflower provided a nice balance of texture. The fried rice that came with it was flavorful and perfectly cooked, making it a satisfying dish overall. The L5 Non-Raw Sushi Combo was also enjoyable, with fresh ingredients and a variety of textures. The eel and smoked salmon, in particular, stood out with their rich flavors, making this combo a great choice for those who prefer sushi without raw fish.
Unfortunately, the General Tso's Tofu was a letdown. While the tofu was crispy, the sauce was overly sweet and lacked the spicy kick you'd expect from a good General Tso's dish. The flavor felt one-dimensional, and the steamed rice didn’t do much to elevate the dish. Overall, Yen's Kitchen offers some great options, but not every dish hit the mark. It's worth a try if you’re looking for a mix of Asian stir-fries and sushi, but be selective with what you order.

I used to be a regular at Yen's Kitchen Sushi Bar in Ashburn, VA, but my experience there took a turn for the worse. The sushi quality declined, with the fish not being as fresh and the portions shrinking noticeably. On top of that, the servers tend to closely watch you as you order and finish your meal, which creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. They also ask for tips in a way that feels pushy. The final straw for me was when they forgot an item from my order and refused to credit me back. After that, I decided it was time to find a new spot

I used to love coming here for takeout. I used to love the sushi! We dined in last week and ordered California rolls which I used to get all the time. This time, they did not come with cucumber, which they used to come with! I asked why there was none added and they said it's because they don't come with any. So asked for some on the side. I was warned it would be $1 extra and I said that's fine (without the cucumber, it's just so soggy/mushy feeling). I also asked for spicy mayo. That was also $1. I ended up wanting more spicy mayo which was another $1 😂 they let me know every time which I guess is good?
As for service. I've never dined in till last week but don't try to flag anyone down that's not your server as they will not help you. They also spray very potent spray on the tables to clean them and it lingers for a long time and smells so strongly, your food will taste of it x.x If I come back, I will not be dining in!
My friend ordered food to go after the meal. She asked for shrimp instead of pork in a dish and they instead charged her $6 for the shrimp and then just gave her the pork with 3 pieces of shrimp added into the dish 🤷🏽♀️ $6 seems steep for 3 pieces of shrimp (on top of getting the substitution wrong).
Not sure what changed over the last few months. We used to love yens and the sushi!! May give it another try but will not be dining in.

Very very deceptive tipping practice here. 'Gratuities1' of 18% added to the bottom of the itemized receipt (did not see disclosed anywhere in menu etc.). This amount is then fully hidden by the stapled signature receipt on top of the itemized receipt with large boxes for 18% 20% and 22%, calculated for values AFTER the 18% was already applied. Only looked because my two lunch specials it suggested $44 total post-tip... $13.95x2 to $44?
Shameless attempt at hiding the included fee and hoping folks don't notice and give a second tip.
Got me once, but now never coming back. Doesn't matter the food is actually good, that's terrible practice and shows management has no ethical motive only greed. Makes you ask, what else would they do to try and get a buck - try to stretch the shelf life of their sushi fish???
Hmm....

Food was very good, service was terrible, unfriendly staff, never offered any desert and saw people had the complimentary desert (small custard buns) on their tables and we did not, felt discriminated, did not pay tip. Hard to make people working their understand what we did not like. They were offering the desert after telling them and I refused. My wife and daughter left the restaurant while I was talking to the restaurants staff. Came to my car, saw one of the servers was asking why we did not pay tip, never saw this before anywhere. Told her the reason and she went back, will not go there again. Unfriendly service based on certain parameters, very noticeable.

Absolutely worth the trip. Great service and food. And the place is clean… no sticky tables. Bathrooms too.
We ordered the Bahamas Sushi Roll, General Tsao’s chicken and king pow chicken. Took a bit for food to arrive but that is because it was made fresh. Our water glasses were kept filled and the waiter made sure we had what we needed. At the end you get a complimentary custard bun (lightly fried custard donut) that is delicious.
We will definitely go again. As we watched other orders being delivered to tables, it all looked delicious.

An absolutely lovely experience. The food is genuinely a work of art. We stopped in to kill time before check in at the Homewood Suites. It was like 2:00 so we had a couple appetizers (we tried the Thai pot stickers, Beef on a stick, and the Shrimp and Chive dumplings. SO good) and a pot of gorgeous mango tea, which arrived in a beautiful clear glass pot with white flowers painted on it, and a tea light warming stand.
We liked it so much we came back on our way out of town for lunch and to try the sushi menu. The Tekka Don and Unagi Don were both visually stunning and incredible tasting. We paired it with a pot of excellent Jasmine Green tea that came in a beautiful ceramic pot, with matching cups.
If you're a fan of good tea with elegant and unique presentation, it's worth stopping in just for their tea menu and assortment of traditional tea sets that are as beautiful as they are functional
One thing I noticed while we were there was that they seem to have a loyal customer base of local Asian people, which tells me a lot about the quality and authenticity of the food.
If we are ever back in the area we will ABSOLUTELY be stopping in again. If you love authentic Japanese food, or are looking for a somewhat casual environment that specializes in giving a elegant experience you should not miss this restaurant! I only wish I were the type to take pictures of food so I could share them with you... And everyone I know!

Best Chinese in NoVa. I would say better than Chinese food I've had in China. Owners are Taiwanese. Super attentive and friendly. Remembered me when I came in a second time with the rest of my family.

We only had 2 in our party but requested a larger table since we were ordering multiple dishes and will be sharing food between us family-style. The staff would not seat us at one of ther empty booths despite all of them being empty. We were told we could only sit at one of the smaller tables, which required a wait, or the bar. We left after waiting a few minutes since none of the smaller tables were ready to leave.
We normally like this restaurant but will find it difficult to return.

Order online for this restaurant and found it was unusual for a Chinese place to ask for 40 minutes to prepare two dishes but I waited my 40 minutes then got in the car.
After arriving at the restaurant and paying I was told by the owner to wait in my car for my order instead of in the restaurant. After watching multiple customers walk in and get yelled at by the owner/manager for asking if their food was ready yet. I waited another TWO HOURS for my food. Note the restaurant was not full and there were only two or three other people waiting for takeout orders. I work in the service industry so I understand long wait times but this is ridiculous.
Once I FINALLY received my food my order was incorrect, I ordered a general’s chicken and lo mein and received white rice. I went back in the restaurant and got my correct side. The food was below average, like a microwave dinner and look like it too. I order my chicken extra spicy and paid an extra dollar for it and didn’t receive a single chili in my microwave dinner. Idk who’s taking the pictures shown in these reviews but they certainly didn’t come from the customers. This was my first and last time visiting this mess of a spot. Get it together or you won’t last long. Rude service, Bad food, Long waits.

Not sure what happened, perhaps it was an off day. Ordered crispy beef, and pan fried noddles for take away. Food was ready when I got to the restaurant, which was great. When I got home though and took the food out of the bag, neither the crispy beef, nor the pan fried noodles has a lid on its container. The lid was in the bag, but not attached to the food container, so the food was just sitting exposed in the bag. As a result, the food was cold. Strange. Have to give it a not so great review because of it.

We've been enjoying this place and have been regular visitors. Today, we decided to try a new dish we'd never ordered before – the pork belly with bamboo. Unfortunately, the bamboo had an unusual and somewhat sour taste. We brought this to the attention of our waitress, but she declined to exchange the dish, stating that this was how it was supposed to taste. I've eaten bamboo my whole life, and I sensed something was amiss. Despite discontinuing the dish, I still felt unwell after the meal and eventually vomited three times upon arriving home. I'm giving a one-star rating due to the food safety issue I experienced today and the evident lack of concern for customer well-being.

The teapots are so cute and to top it off, dessert was complimentary baos w custard fillings. Can’t wait to go back!

I've eaten and gotten takeout from here several times now and it's always a great experience. The service, tea, sushi, and main dishes have all been wonderful. Lots of stuff to try still, but have loved everything that we've had here.

Absolutely worth it.
3 cups and the fried chicken were moist and full of flavor. Definitely a basil addict and I appreciated the use of it. Wait staff kept our glasses full and were personable.

Beware of the TIP POLICE!!
Been going here for years with my mom with no issues and yesterday the owner comes to my table after we paid the check and asked about the meal and service. I thought, wow the owner is so tentative and cares about her customers. I told her everything was great and then she said why wasn’t the tip at 18%. I was shocked and angry! I said I did not realize we had to give 18% tip all the time! She then said it’s not mandatory to give 18%. Well if it’s not mandatory then why are you complaining about it!!!
Per the restaurants response to another reviewer last month with a similar issue - “While we understand that tipping can sometimes be a sensitive topic, it's important to note that gratuities are voluntary and based on your discretion.” What a bunch of lies! It’s not based on MY discretion. Apparently it’s based on their discretion and their need to confront/complain to a paying customer.
Insulting a tip is like criticizing a gift. It’s rude and unprofessional. Needless to say I won’t be coming back here anytime soon. I love the food and the staff is very nice, but I will not tolerate being treated this way. This is not how you treat paying customers.
For the record the tip was nearly 16% of the check. My mom who is elderly and on a fixed income paid for the bill.

This place is 5 stars across the board. They are above and beyond friendly and attentive. They were so sweet to my daughter. They brought her her own spoon and bowl with little characters on it. The restaurant was so clean and welcoming. The food was outstanding! Everything was fresh and flavorful. My husband got the pad Thai and I got the pineapple, chicken rice. We also got the crab rangoons. We all enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and staff interaction. Everyone on staff said goodbye to us on the way out. Love it!

The best sushi ever!!!

Bleh food and annoying service. Soup was terrible. Dumplings were drowned in water. Entree had no flavor. Trying way too hard to do everything like many terrible asian fusion places.

This is far and away the best Chinese food we have ever had on the East Coast. We love traveling to the Pacific Northwest because there is a good Chinese restaurant in every block. We are so excited that we have now found a comparable place right in our own backyard. The menu is full of incredible options...it was hard to pick. If it were not for the fact that it was just my wife and I, we would have ordered the Peking Duck. Can't wait to go back and try some sushi and the Taiwanese Style Fried Chicken.

Oh my goodness! Family style servings, excellent authentic Taiwanese cuisine served by an outstanding and caring staff.

Food is good but I don't like being forced by a 22% gratuity to my bill for a family of 5. They were like oh the tips was added. It's Totally not cool to me! Will not dine in going forward.

Most amazing and authentic food…Tawainese mother-in-law and husband fully approve and we love going here for lunch / dinner. Kids finish their plates and rave about the flavor. We have not had a dish we did not love. Reasonably priced as well. 5 stars!

Food taste not good and charge mandatory 18% service fee when we only have three people. Not recommended at all and will never go there again.

I’ve frequented this place since it opened. The staff is friendly, the water is always topped off, and the ambiance is nice!
I typically elect for their lunch specials. It comes with a soup (egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour), rice, egg roll, salad, and entree. My go to are the general tso’s and hunan beef. This time around I went with the general tso’s. The quality of food has been maintained and I can always count on consistency here.
Yen’s cafe used to be the spot but they have changed drastically. I recommend you come here instead as they also have decent sushi. The other place is small and not as good as it used to be.
For their non lunch options, the food is very good. You won’t be disappointed if you’re in the mood for Chinese food.

The sushi is great here and the staff is courteous and quick. This is my go-to spot for Miso soup and they sell a large carton. When I’m sick, I’m always at Yen’s to get my soup!
Highly recommend for delicious food. They have a few tables inside so get there before the lunch/dinner rush - they’re usually busy!

Best Taiwanese food in VA!
We didn’t know this was here. This best things we ate were the Taiwanese and Szechuan specialties. Loved the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and fried Szechuan fish.
We will be back to try more of the menu!

One of our favorite places right now. We've sampled from their main menu as well as the specials sign and their iPad menu. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is always served hot, I recommend allowing them to bring the dishes out as they're finished and not all at once. There's a complementary dessert we've been served as well.

Best Sushi in Ashburn. Hands down. Have tried quite a few rolls from their menu and it is amazing. Have also tried several of the entrees and they are always consistently cooked and very flavorful!

We've been patronizing this restaurant since 2018 and always were very satisfied with our experiences. The food is out of this world tasty (both from Sushi and Chinese menus), brought to the table amazingly quickly, in quite big portions and presented nicely. The service always was very nice from all of the servers dressed in the red shirts and even had a pleasure chatting with them sometimes about this or that : ).
But last two times we were served with a different server who was dressed in a black shirt with a pony tail hair do. And we've noticed that both times we didn't have clear communication with her (particularly by the end of the meal, when we'd ask her about containers for leftovers and let her know that we want to pack ourselves). Both times she did exactly opposite taking the food from the table and packing it herself. And BOTH TIMES we brought home a leaking mess from some of the containers instead of well packed food (actually it is the main reason WHY we want to pack our leftovers BY OURSELVES!). We have to drive about 90 minutes home and it's important to us so the food was not leaking! The most annoying part is that you ask her for plastic type containers and she packs in the styrofoam containers dishes with lots of sauce in them, and even repacks what you had a chance to pack yourself right in front of you, which in our opinion was very rude and ignorant. We always ordered on big scale (not less than 7 dishes just for 2 of us) to have big leftovers for later, and at the same time to support the business we like leaving generous tips of not less than 25%. But after not one but two annoying experiences with this waitress, leaving with uneasy feeling we don't think we'd want to come back no matter how great the food tastes.

Came for a business meeting and was so hungry. Stopped by this center and there was many choices but I was so glad I stopped by here. I was greeted and sat at the bar. The staff was quick and friendly. My sushi was made right in front of me and it was delicious. Rolled tightly and the fish tasted fresh. I loved it. I am in VA for almost a week and I'll probably come back again because i really enjoyed it

Great experience and authentic Taiwanese food in NVA.
Foods are excellent. My family ordered Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, Bitter Melon with Beef, Yan’s Roll and other two dishes, which I forgot the names in English. All of them are very tasty. Even my daughter who normally only likes Pizza and chicken nuggets enjoyed the foods.
Recommend to get a pot of their flower tea to go with the meal. Very enjoyable 😊
We will definitely go back again.

Terrific lunch today. I had a volcano roll and chicken and broccoli! So very good. The kids loved it as well. Dinner was topped off with custard pastries that were a pleasant end to the meal. My green tea was always topped off! If you are hungry for Chinese, do not pass up Yen's kitchen

Only downside, sushi chef was out when I visited. Beef fried rice was awesome 👌

If you're looking for a warm and friendly dining experience with exceptional food, Yen's is the place for you! This restaurant serves up a fusion of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine, and each dish is a true masterpiece. Most establishments that try and serve multiple geographical cuisines tend to suffer from mediocre at best food all around, but not Yen's! The menu offers a variety of options, from classic Chinese dishes like Kung Pao chicken to Thai curries and sushi that is absolutely delicious!
The food at Yen's is simply amazing. Every dish is prepared with the freshest ingredients and packs a punch of flavor. The attention to detail in the presentation and taste is unmatched. The sushi, in particular, is a must-try with perfectly seasoned rice and high-quality fish. Whether you're in the mood for something spicy or something mild, there's something on the menu for everyone.
In addition to the exceptional food, the atmosphere at Yen's is warm and friendly. The decor is simple, creating a comfortable and inviting environment. The staff is always happy to make recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of fantastic. Whether you're dining alone or with friends, Yen's is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a warm and friendly dining experience with exceptional food, look no further than Yen's. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is excellent. You won't be disappointed!

Went inside. Waited at the front with my two kids. Everyone that worked there just stared at us. Finally someone comes up I thought to seat us but she came up to take our temperatures for Covid??? You’ve got to be joking. Covid is over. So we walk out and go to the place next door and I see all the workers from the Japanese place come outside to smoke cigarettes and cigars. Yeah it’s real obvious how worried they are about their healths.
