We’re obsessed with this restaurant. We were introduced about a year ago and have easily been back once a month since. It’s now a family go-to for delicious shabu-shabu, great sushi and really yummy BBQ.
Don’t let the ordering process scare you - it’s super easy and everything is delicious.

We were seated next to a very large, very loud group of Latinos that hollered and bickered with one another the entire time. I was a little taken aback by how brightly lit and open the dining area was as I was expecting something a bit more intimate with a calmer atmosphere. Other than that, the food was excellent and the service top notch. We will definitely be back.

Been here twice now. Excellent hot pot/shabu shabu. Love the sushi option. Tablet ordering the next all-you-can-eat round really improves the service. There are pictures of everything, you can plan your next round while you're eating, and it's easier than flagging a server down. I would happily come back, and I've recommended it to family already.

This place is in my top sushi places of all time. The only ones that have beat it are ones with a dock out back in Hawaii. But this place is by far the best in Utah. I swear I am eating here about every other week at least. The all you can eat sushi is great and a great way to stretch your cash.

In the last two years, we have come to this restaurant to enjoy its food, until now everything had been excellent, amazing food and great customer service, but today was definitely not like before, the food was great but the customer service, horrendous, the waiter showed a bad attitude towards us since we crossed the entrance door, and through the evening she treated us horribly, she was practically throwing our drinks on our faces, lastly the food 10/10, but like I said the customer service was the worst we have experienced in a while, definitely not coming back

To preface, this was during lunch hours on Labor Day and we were only one of about 3 tables. I can only assume reading previous reviews that they have made the change to digital menus for ordering for all-you-can-eat. This allowed us to order when we needed, servers were attentive, and of the 4 times we placed orders on the tablet the food came promptly. While maybe not as much variety as other hot pot places, the quality of the meats and broth was well worth it.

Food here is always amazing and high-quality. Sometimes there can be a little bit of a language barrier but the tablets make it a lot easier to order and understand what you can get. Sometimes it can be a bit noisy, and the smell of the barbecue grills can be overwhelming but beyond that it’s great food at a great price

Food was alright. Service was also good. The place was clean. Most places use electric heaters for the bbq and hotpot this place uses fire. I cannot say enough about this place. We got the all you can eat package and it felt like an amazing deal - delicious broths and meat to cook in them, a fresh bbq grill with amazing meat, plus all you can eat sushi that was super good! Plus the servers are all so friendly and willing to help (even when we needed help shelling shrimp - one of the servers came and did it for us and was so kind about it). We will definitely be back, and we’ll likely be taking our friends and family.

This used to be a 5 star review but after today it changed. This used to be our favorite place to come eat. We come 4 to 8 times a year. This last time they had given us a tablet there was no service and no refills on drinks. They would not follow instructions on our orders even though they told us how to add the instructions. They never gave us our apps. Everything was messed up not one order was correct. We asked for someone to just take our order after everything kept getting messed up and we was ignored. We had to ask for spicy mayo 4 times. We put in our drink orders they brought the wrong drinks we checked the tablet for everything was ordered correctly and we put in the right orders. The service was slow and no personality. We will not be back. Thank you for destroying the restaurant.

I tried this place recently and I have found a new favorite sushi joint! They are so nice and make sure everything tastes amazing! I love every one of the rolls I have eaten there. For $35 on a weekday for all you can eat lunch it is a hell of a deal. That is if you can eat enough rolls the price becomes a great value. Make sure you come hungry. Every one of the rolls I have eaten has been amazing! I try to go here every now and again. Once you are done gorging yourself to the point of bursting they give you a drink that helps with digestion and eliminates the bloated feeling. I recommend this joint to anyone who likes sushi!

Have been here twice. Second time was with boyfriend, it was a fun experience and the food was good. However, service was very slow and we would wait a long time for food; a few times by the time we got the food the fires for our pots would be out and we would have to wait for them to replenish the flammable gel. This also made our pots stop boiling and we needed to wait longer for them to reheat.

They have ordering by tablet, but that would lock us out sometimes and we would need to have wait staff fix it. Was quicker to just ask wait staff to get what you wanted anyway.

It was moderately busy so some wait would have been expected however we would wait 30min to get food. Was a bit loud and the smell from the flammable gel was strong.

We went on a thursday night and decided to get the sushi hotpot bbq combo. We ordered sushi the moment we got seated, an 1hr later and 2 follow ups, still nothing. Took 30mins for our first hotpot/bbq orders to arrive. The heating device that came with it is just the gel warmers. Wont really brown your bbq nor boil your soup, so indeed a high risk for food poisoning like others mention on their reviews. Only 2 of our 5 orders from the ipad they give u arrived. Frustrated and hungry, we decided to leave. After we paid, thats when we got our sushi orders.

Save yourself time money & patience, go somewhere else :(

My husband and I had a date night there at 6 on a Friday night (after Valentine's Day) and it wasn't overly crowded. We got the all you can eat shabu shabu and Japanese grill. We loved all the delicious meats and veggies! The shrimp came whole, head and all, so that wasn't what I was expecting, but now you know. The seaweed was difficult to eat, but I still thought it was neat. Definitely try the lamb, so yummy. My husband got the spicy ginzo broth and I got the sukiyaki broth. I really liked all my meat and veggies boiled first and then finished on the grill. Don't forget to try their free dipping sauces, because they are awesome! I just wish we lived closer. We went 7 years ago and talk about it all the time because it was such a fun, memorable experience. And this was our first time back since... We really hate Salt Lake area traffic... But if you already live in the area, try it out! You won't regret it!

The lastly the way it is done is a bit dangerous. They use a open flame burner the flame. Spiked up and singed my friend's bread off.

My first time at Ginza Japanese Shabu Shabu was awesome. We started with the most amazing and delicious sushi.  The hot pot setup let us cook our own slices of thin sliced meat, veggies & various noodles in the broth of our choice right there at our table, which was really fun and hands-on. Dipping the super tender meat and veggies in the different sauces after cooking them was delicious.
Getting to hang out and catch up over the meal with some of my new favorite people made the whole evening even better. The food was so good and cooking it ourselves kept things interesting, and it was the laughs and good company that made this such an enjoyable dinner out. I'd definitely go back to Ginza to do more DIY cooking hot pot style and make another great memory together.
This spot definitely gets my top recommendation for tasty food and an interactive meal with your friends.

This is enough food for 2 or 3 people and they were watching to make sure no sharing took place. Way to much food for 1. It seemed wasteful. There wasn't much instruction on how to do the Shabu Shabu. I found it void of flavor. For the cost and strict rules I felt like it could have been much better.

It's fun to do hot pot with friends and it's something I'd never create at home, so it's sort of a special event. Ginza is a bit of a whole in the wall with no ambiance and the whole cooking/eating process is quite messy. We walked away full and had a good time but I'm gonna try a different place next time that hopefully has a nicer atmosphere.

This is partially a rating based off of comparison with Mr Shabu in Salt Lake City. We went to Ginza hoping for a similar experience closer to home. While Ginza has a more rustic feel (personal cooking pots and BBQ over a sterno flame), the heat wasn't consistent or adjustable. Additionally, pans were shallow for broth, and the Japanese BBQ wasn't Japanese. It was more like Korean bulgogi. Both good, but if you were looking for Japanese BBQ (yakiniku), this wasn't it.

Mr Shabu, by comparison, is all-you-can-eat everything including edamame, sushi, gyoza, etc. Many of which were extra at Ginza. Mr Shabu had a buffet style setup where you could get as much cabbage, noodles, etc as you would like and could easily go back for more. Burners were adjustable. There was a variety of beef choices and others. The only downside I can think of was the lack of chicken.

Service was good. The staff were professional and friendly. They definitely worked hard to provide a great dining experience. The setup and food quality just didn't quite measure up.

Food was great....nice variety...we had all you can eat shabu and sushi. Menu is a bit confusing and waitress' English was marginal. Fun place but a bit expensive.

I've been coming to Ginza for a couple years now. And they consistently provide excellent service, excellent food, and overall great experience. It is a different experience for someone who has never been to a Shabu place before, but it's fun getting to cook your own food at your pace. Last time I visited they even expanded, but still keeps its nice, quiet, and chill ambience.

I have always had a good experience here but on Saturday the 18th, it couldn’t be worse. While the restaurant was what would be considered a normal flow of diners, my partner and I were standing at the podium for around 10 minutes just waiting to be seated. Not the biggest deal, it is what it is. Once seated our waiter was prompt with our drinks and after that the service went downhill very quickly. We ordered the all you can eat sushi for the two of us ($72 and some change with tax included as the final bill). Once ordering the first roll it took 20 minutes to receive it and following that it took yet again another 20 minutes for the waiter to bring out the second roll. The Ginza roll we had ordered with eel sauce came out and had fruit flies/ gnats on top of it and hovering around the dish. Where we didn’t have any bugs around us prior to this, the sushi roll was the clear reason for the bugs.

Our waiter was unfortunately not attentive and we were out of drinks after the first 20 minutes of us sitting down. When our waiter had finally come back to us, he asked if we wanted to order any other rolls and we told him we would need just a minute but we would like him to come back. Instead, he had dropped the bill on the table and never came back. Paying for the all you can eat sushi was not worth it as the wait time for the rolls was ridiculous and the quality was disappointing. The cost of the rolls without us paying for the all you can eat sushi came out to be way less and we had in fact paid more for the “all you can eat” than we would have for the rolls by themselves. It’s disappointing as we had intended to order more to get our money’s worth and just enjoy the sushi in general and we were unable to do so.

The service was disappointing and it’s unfortunate because it is usually spot on and the food is always perfect. I’m not sure if it was just that night that things were not as great as they typically are, but either way, the Ginza roll with the fruit flies/gnats flying on and around it is not excusable.

I have never been more pleased with an entire menu as I was at Shabu Shabu! Everything we got was good. The spicy Tokyo Shabu cooking broth packed a punch, the meat was clean and paper-thin for perfect cooking and layering stop the amazing noodles and veggies.
And the sushi - every roll was distinct, sharp, and flavorful. No mushy fish here. Both the fried and fresh rolls were delicious.
Service is a bit slow. We had to catch the eye of someone to order more food rather than just waiting for someone to come to the table, because it was very infrequent. However, every time we did order more, it always came. Nobody forgot about us.
I can't wait to go back and show this place to all my friends. I am so incredibly pleased!

Unnecessarily lengthy menu, like comically long, wayy too many menu items. So not really surprised they were out of every other item we tried to order.

We came here for a date night and we were very impressed! Broth was fantastic and they had plenty of sauces and seasonings. All you can eat Shabu Shaba and sushi is the way to go! So much food at a fantastic price for everything you get. Server was also very kind and service was fast!

We had been here three times before this experience. Our party of 4 got seated very promptly and everything was going great. We were starving and exhausted from a long day at work. We ordered and everything was fine. A party of 8 sat in front of us. 20 min later they received their food. We waited another 35-40 min to even receive our food though we had been seated and ordered before the party of 6. I went up to the servers and asked what was taking so long and they brought our food 6 min after I asked. I’m not sure if they’d forgotten it in the back or what. I didn’t have the energy to say I didn’t want to pay full price for this lol but we payed full price.

My husband had never been a fan but I always vouched for this restaurant. It’s safe to say we are never going back.

Probably my favorite Shabu Shabu restaurant. The broth here is what really sets them above other restaurants. Mr Shabu in downtown salt lake may have more beef options but Gina's broth is so much better that both my wife and I think this is the better restaurant. In addition they have pork, chicken and lamb at Ginza. The speed and amount of meat you get at a time is also better at Ginza.
Ginza not only has hot pot, but they also have a decent sushi menu. We will sometimes consider the sushi as an add on to our shabu shabu selection but we normally wouldn't recommend doing that unless you are really hungry. Absolutely 6 stars for the shabu shabu!

Good food, horrible staff. The male waitress had so much attitude when talking to us and would throw/slam the menus and plates really loud on the table. He would roll his eyes a lot too even though we were being nice with him from the start. Really beautiful place to eat but his attitude ruined it all.

I've never experienced such POOR SERVICE at a restaurant in all of my life... like. ever. For the past few times, they have been so busy that even when seated at a table, you wouldn't get to ORDER your food until AT LEAST 30 mins had past. The 3rd time was the charm for me - no food served whatsoever for 2 whole hours SEATED at a table! WHAT!?

Wow. We just up and left the restaurant at that point because that was just BEYOND RIDICULOUS!!

Ginza is SERIOUSLY UNDERSTAFFED and has not adjusted to the demand which is hurting their business and causing returning customers like myself to seek other places and never step foot in there again.

Eating out is not just about the food, it's also about the experience and service that you're paying for.

There are other shabu-shabu places in town that will be getting my business from now on.

Ginza isn't worth the money and ESPECIALLY the time.

TWO THUMBS WAAAY DOWN!

Waiting for over 2 hours for food that would never come. Was served just our drinks and they even got that wrong. There was a table that was seated 20 minutes after us and got 4 rounds of food to place in their shabu shabu within one hour. *In* that one hour, our table got the wrong drinks and nothing else. At 1.5 hours, I finally walked over to management and said what was happening. No apology. Nothing. But they did say they'd give us our food *immediately*. Another half hour goes by... No food... The table next to us gets their 5th round of add-ins!!! At this point, I'm shouting across the table saying that our food should be ours 2 hours ago. Even the other table rejected the additional round of food and told them to give our table the food. Somehow, EVEN THEN, our server didn't even glance in our direction. It's not just one server either. There were multiple servers and managers we talked to. No one came to help, apologize, nothing.

I'm at Mr Shabu at Gateway now. 2.5 hours from when I sat down at Ginza. This place is FAR better for food, atmosphere, and service. I've gone to Ginza several times but never again and I will tell other friends to avoid it entirely.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I heard great things about this place, so figured i'd give it a try.. big mistake. For 2 hours, all we got served was 3 rounds of soda (2nd round was completely the wrong soda), and white rice that was dry. We felt completely ignored as other tables were coming and going. We left and will never go back again.

I really enjoyed literally everything this place has to offer. Their food is really good and even if you're not a great cook, there's no way to go wrong, not unless you don't cook it all the way. I didn't think I'd like their sushi as much as I did but they have so so much variety to choose from, and after just a bit eating, I was full, it was really great, I've been a few times before, and some of my favorites have to be their calamari, edamame, gyoza, and their beef, and I could go on and on and on, but I won't. This time I went it was pretty packed but I totally understand for the wait since it was like a full house, and they seemed really short staffed, but they were still so compassionate and kind serving us and our big party. It's also kind of expensive like, a lot ish but, I don't mind it, it's only fair for an authentic Japanese restaurant, thank you again and I hope to see you again <33

It took 2 hours to get our food. When making the reservation for 20 people, I asked several times if they will have staff for it, they didn't.
They gave some people their food while others at the table could only look longingly and hungrily as they ate.

Such a great experience! The sushi was incredible and it was such a great deal getting the unlimited sushi! Normally unlimited sushi places take for ever to bring your next roll out so you fill up quicker but they would ask for my next roll before I was even done with my current one and as soon as I finished I had my next roll which I appreciated a ton because that's how it should be!
