Welcome to Benihana, a dining experience unlike any other! Our guests are seated at communal tables in groups, where your personal chef will perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Watch as we slice and dice, preparing a meal that will dazzle your eyes as well taste buds, whether you choose mouth-watering steak, tender chicken or succulent seafood. You can also enjoy sushi prepared by a talented sushi chef and indulge in a specialty cocktail.
The experience here is fun. The food is good but nothing fancy. However, it's very very crowded and your clothes will smell like oil for days. They need to figure out a better ventilation system. Maybe have a few less tables to move around. My family did have a lot of fun and our chef was great and so talented, the fried rice is the best I've ever had!

Last time I came (a couple years ago) it was a complete disappointment. This time our cook was Jeffrie, and he was fantastic, on top of it, and quick-witted. He was probably the best part and the only reason for such a high review. I think our waiter's name was Brian, but I had to keep asking for water and he wouldn't keep coming by, So I would wait forever. I was given a broken spoon with my soup and I finished my soup by drinking from the bowl, before I could catch the opposite table's waitress. We were on the 2nd floor and it was very smoky and hard to breathe. Very crowded. But sooooo much better than last time because our cook!

I recently celebrated my birthday at Benihana with my girlfriends, and as always, it was an unforgettable experience. We sat in the bar area where you can order food from the main menu plus delicious sushi. The cocktails were so yummy! We loved this option of sitting in the bar area!
I've also been coming here for years with my family to celebrate special occasions, and it never disappoints! The food is consistently fresh and amazing. You will be thinking about it for days after. Especially the fried rice! And best scallops ever🙏 The best part is watching the chefs perform their incredible cooking show right in front of you — it adds such a fun and interactive element to the meal. Benihana has truly become a go-to spot for making lasting memories with loved ones. I’ll never forget growing up and going there with family- now my daughter chooses it for her own birthday dinners! Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and a fun dining experience!

My experience at Benihana Sushi and Grill is still unfolding, but I feel compelled to share my thoughts so far. While the food has turned out to be good—and I appreciate that the sushi chef ultimately added more ingredients instead of leaving my dish lacking—the overall process to get here has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
From the very beginning, the experience was marked by frustration. The hostess area was empty when I arrived, leaving me waiting far too long to even be acknowledged. Once seated, I wasn’t handed a menu right away. When the waitress finally came, she kindly gave me one and even apologized, clearly confused as to why the other staff hadn’t provided it earlier. Her name was Kat, and I want to make sure to commend her for her kindness and professionalism. She did her best to make up for the disorganization, and her attentiveness stood out in an otherwise poor experience. Unfortunately, her efforts weren’t enough to compensate for the lack of care and attentiveness from the rest of the team.
The most upsetting part of the experience revolved around a simple request: to substitute the imitation crab in my sushi roll. Instead of offering reasonable alternatives, the sushi chef implied that removing the imitation crab would result in a roll made with nothing but cream cheese. This suggestion felt unnecessary and dismissive, as it completely disregarded the possibility of substituting with other ingredients. I had to insist repeatedly for a better solution, which only added to my frustration.
After a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth, the chef finally added more ingredients to the roll, resulting in a dish that was enjoyable. However, the difficulty of reaching that resolution overshadowed the meal itself. It’s hard to truly savor good food when the process leading up to it feels so dismissive and exhausting.
I came to Benihana Sushi and Grill expecting a smooth, enjoyable dining experience, but what I encountered was a series of hurdles that detracted from the atmosphere and left me feeling more frustrated than satisfied. While I’m glad the food eventually turned out well, the experience leading up to it showed a glaring lack of attentiveness and customer care.
I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for the staff to improve their service and communication. For me, dining out isn’t just about the food—it’s about the entire experience. I expect to feel welcomed, heard, and valued as a customer, but instead, I felt like an afterthought. While the food quality might bring some back, for me, the memory of this process lingers far too strongly.
Kat’s kindness was the one bright spot in this disappointing experience, but one kind server shouldn’t have to carry the burden of covering for an entire team’s lack of attentiveness. I hope the team takes this feedback seriously and makes the changes necessary to provide a better experience for future customers. As for me, I’m uncertain if I’d return or recommend this place, despite the eventual quality of the food. Dining out should never feel like this much of a struggle.

Hannah our service was great - bartending skills are top tier! (pumpkin spice margarita pictured)
James our grill chef - so funny and had a couple different hibachi tricks up his sleeve (strayed away from the usual hibachi grill stuff that maybe others may experience)
Overall, great first experience at any Benihana!

Quite honestly the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant.
Our reservation was at 7:00, but we were not seated at the table until 8:00. After being seated, we were not served food until 9:00, at which point the chef came out. The whole meal/experience was over by 9:21.
A two hour wait for food with a reservation is unprecedented and unacceptable. It is disrespectful to customers and I don’t know what kind of broken operation the managers and owners have decided to run.
I will never return to this restaurant and caution others to not visit.
The saving grace is that I will say that I applaud the staff for being excellent and diligent. The hostess was apologetic and informative, the waitress was helpful and attentive, and our chef Rogelio was skillful and enthusiastic. It is really unfortunate that the failure of the managers and owners take away from the excellent service provided by the staff, I hope they find a better run restaurant to work for.

My husband and I had a date night with 2 other couples from our neighborhood. The table seats 8, so we were joined by two strangers who seemed nice. We had reservations for 7 pm, however it was closer to 8 pm before we were seated. The hostess apologized and each couple was encouraged to have one free appetizer for our trouble.
We were first served by a young man in a black coat. He got our drinks and other orders. They give you a TON of food! We started with a soup, which was followed by a salad. Then our chef came. She was great! First she made chicken fried rice. This was followed by our main dishes (Tofu, steak or chicken) served with mushrooms, onions, shrimp, and zucchini. Everything was very tasty. At the end, we were given a dish of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, rainbow sherbet).
They allowed us to sit at our table past paying the bill, which was nice so we could visit. To sum up, the food was great, the chef was fun, and plan for at least 2-3 hours as this isn't fast food. My only complaint was waiting an hour to be seated when we had reservations. However, they made up for it with the free appetizer.

I had a party of 6. One of my guest was a lady with dementia. And the way they were created by Chef Ari or Ali was amazing. He didn't leave her out and treated her with much respect. I won't lie he gave her a lot of food that she could not eat but the customer service was beyond what I expected. Thank you for making her feel special. 🥲

After the way the manager spoke to us when we were trying to resolve a mistake THEY made, we won’t be back. Also, the chicken tasted really off - hope we don’t get sick (the almost all of it away after just a few bites. Not worth another conversation with the rude manager - he doesn't care anyway).

A group of 7 friends and I had made reservations here on a thursday night, only to be told when we arrived that we would have to wait another hour to be seated. Mind you we were all there 5 minutes early. Managing reservations is restauranting 101 and this Benihana failed miserably.

The food was bland, they make you put in a reservation and still wait an hour and a half they don’t season with anything other then soy sauce sushi was ok but not the best and for the hype and price I will not be back save your money and look around this place needs Gordon ramsey I will say our chef Quinn was absolutely fantastic so credit where do he was fun and great attitude, and after reading some reviews they seem to have a seriously broken system and obviously no desire to fix as it is on going to bad could be a very good spot just need competent people but over all I feel ripped off for the price and quality

We made a reservation for our son’s birthday. We arrived on time to be told it was a 20 minute wait. After waiting 25 minutes they told us it would be another 45 minutes. The lobby was full of other parties who also had reservations that weren’t being seated on time. We left with a disappointed birthday boy and his younger siblings.

We are long time Benihana customers, a family favorite of ours for over 25 years. We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation time, which was not ideal for children. This same thing happened the last time we visited over a year ago; clearly they take more reservations than they can accommodate and haven’t found a way to fix the problem. We will not be back.

We had a large group for Christmas Eve and four tables were prepared and waiting for us when we arrived. Our entire party had a marvelous experience, the food was beautifully prepared and very tasty. We were extremely happy with the meals, the atmosphere and the service in spite of it being a very busy evening. We couldn’t have been more pleased. Grant Cannon

We had a hungry 2 year old with us. We had an 8:30 reservation…and weren’t seated until 9:30. My hungry son was sobbing. We had to order potstickers for him to eat while we waited and they took half an hour to arrive, not appearing until long after we were seated. Aside from the potstickers for my son, we did not get any food served until at least 10 pm. At that point, we were too tired and hungry to be a good audience for our chef who—after every trick—repeated the words “Wow” as if encouraging us to Ooo and Ahhh him. The food was basically overpriced stir fry. Not bad for stir fry but disappointing for a special meal.

Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with our attempt to celebrate a night out with our family during the holidays. We had a reservation and ultimately had to walk out after being told by the hostess that their system that creates reservations actually creates more than they have available and that multiple groups were still ahead of us. We had a show to get to at Hale Theater so we ended up having to go from a special night out to scrambling to eat somewhere that could get us in quickly. We also got left paying for parking to add insult to injury. It didn’t ruin our night only because we didn’t let it but it was not the special night out that it should have been.

We booked a day in advance. Drove there for dinner only to find out that they’re overbooked and it’ll be an extra hour long wait. Worse was how unbothered they seemed with all this.
Visited 2 months ago
Despite having a reservation made well in advance - we were asked to wait 45 mins to an hour. We left. 5 starts for the awesome 'over'booking system.

Where to start with benihanas? As your approach you’ll be greeted by an absolutely retched exterior. I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere downtown with a much bird crap at the front door and on the welcome mat.
Once you enter, expect an additional 45min from your time of reservation until you’re sat.
Once at the table, loon around your table for all of the food from the last party littering the floor, check your water for floaty bits from whatever was in them last, and be sure to expect at least another 20min until the server takes your order.
At this point you can decide, do you get up and leave? Wait it out and find out if the food is decent? Will you get sick? Well we’d rather not find out, so out the door we went.
Lesson learned, don’t waste your time at this place.

Food was ok. A bit pricey for the quality. My steak was over what I asked for (asked for medium and it was medium well pushing well done). It was choice steak so this made it tough. We had a good server and our hibachi chef was entertaining. We had a hair on one of our drinks though, but it was promptly fixed. Overall experience: ok. I appreciate them being open for Christmas

Just came here for lunch. Deserves a star because the food was and is usually tasty, but unfortunately I couldn't enjoy it too much because the chef dropped his spatula on the floor, wiped it off, and kept using it.
Disgusting and disappointing as the meal was almost $400.

Had a fabulous night tonight. Mario and Nate were fantastic. Sarah the manager I believe as well as Chloe the host made the most out of a hectic Christmas Eve night. I could not say more about the service other than it was 10/10. We recently suffered a loss in our family and have been dreading the holidays. Dinner tonight was just what we needed this season thanks to these employees. Will definitely be back.

Very busy for Christmas Eve which is understandable. While we waited for a table, we sat at the sushi station for over 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and still took several minutes to get menus. Two different parties left the area because the server was clearly overwhelmed and could not handle the section. No drink orders were ever taken at acknowledgement and we just went back to the host area to wait.
We finally get called to our table and when we ordered, the waitress never once mentioned that there was a $7 up charge per fried rice ordered. She only mentioned do you want steam rice or fried rice? 7/9 people got the fried rice which means this server made an extra $49 in sales just on rice because she didn't communicate and it felt very sneaky on her end. $7.50 for a bottle bud light is insane as well and we were charged for a premium gin and tonic when we just ordered a regular one.
Overall, the food was good but very slow. I don't appreciate the server being sneaky about upcharging cocktails with premium alcohol or not communicating items will be an up charge when she offers it. As someone who has worked in several restaurants throughout my life, I wouldn't come here again based on that experience with the server alone.

Sometimes it’s best to just go with the places you know and love. This isn’t one of those. We had a 5:30 reservation that was made weeks in advance. We arrived at 5:25 and were told ‘we’ll call you when your table is ready.’ After about 10-15 minutes we inquired as to an estimated wait time. We were told about 30-minutes more. By the time we were seated and orders were taken it was 7:00. Between the ridiculously long wait and the condescending hostess, the excitement we had for this experience was completely gone. It made the chef’s show and jokes (which normally would be great) more annoying than entertaining. Food was decent, not awesome, and I got the impression that these people could care less about good service. Definitely not worth it.

Booked a reservation trough OpenTable at 7:30 on Dec. 21st. For six. When we got there, people were waiting outside, inside and the bar was full. The hostess told us it would be at least a 45 minute wait. After talking to a few people waiting, they had been there for over an hour! After talking to the hostess again she said there were five tables in front of us! If you’ve ever been here you know that is a much longer wait than an hour!
How do you take reservations that you cannot handle? Seems like horrible management to me! Most people waiting, were there to celebrate Birthdays or the Holidays with family! (As we were)! Try to find a different place to eat downtown at 8:00 on a Holiday Weekend!
This is a tradition with our family and sadly we won’t be coming back!!!

If I could give zero stars I would! I’ve never had such a horrible experience at a restaurant. We made a reservation months ago for dinner for a very special Christmas event. We arrived on time only to be told we would probably not be seated for 30-45 minutes and that dinner would take at least an hour and a half to complete. Unfortunately our event required that we be there by 7:30. When I explained to the hostesses our situation they were polite but unconcerned. The manager agreed to seat us in the sushi portion of the restaurant and order from the menu. The entire purpose of selecting this restaurant was to let our six year old experience the hibachi environment.
Our waiter Andrew was ridiculously incompetent! After being seated for 20 minutes he finally took our order. We waited another 20 minutes and asked him what the eta was for our meals and he said he would check. Another 10 minutes later he returned to tell us that some items we ordered weren’t available.
We ended up needing to leave in order to try and find something to eat quickly so we could make it to our event.
We were incredibly disappointed and will never return!
The over booking is unacceptable and not our problem!
NIGHT RUINED!

⚠️DO NOT COME HERE. I REPEAT. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. ⚠️ We were going to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation at 8pm, as soon as we got there there was about 20-30 people waiting at the door saying they’ve been waiting there for an hour. The workers were letting people who DIDNT have a reservation BEFORE people who DID have a reservation. They said that the wait would be 45 minutes, WHEN WE HAD A RESERVATION. Then when we sat down we were waiting for 30 minutes to even get appetizers or our orders taken. They also forgot to take one of our orders. Everyone was waiting for so long and the customer service was terrible. The food isn’t even THAT good for the amount of time you have to wait. ALSO i’ve been reading a ton of reviews from here, and everyone else has the same exact problem, and the owner answers to the complaints and apologizes, and yet THEY STILL HAVENT FIXED IT. Just don’t go here it’s a terrible experience. We were there for about 2 and a half hours.

Had my birthday celebration there and for sure not going back! The food was horrible. The portion sizes are insanely small. You only get white rice and if you want fried rice it’s an extra 7 dollar up charge and then not even a cup of fried rice is given to you. The veggies were just small chopped onions and 1 piece of zucchini chopped into 3 pieces. The servers had attitude and the manager even worse. We had a large party and for it we had to call in for reservations and not once they told me we would not sit together . Had my birthday party split up which was not fun. Also so rushed to eat and order literally had our server take my soup and I wasn’t even finished . I had my plate still with food eating and the check was put into my face . So over price for what you get. Definitely not coming back

The waitress was great and the manager was quick to give a refund for the meal, but the meal itself was disappointing. The steak and chicken were cold and relatively flavorless, while at the same time the rice was piping hot. The hibachi vegetables tasted like sushi/raw fish and overall just not what I would expect from a successful chain. I have eaten at other benihanas and, while those were all at the entertainment tables, I would expect the same level of quality while eating at the bar.

Such a terribly run restaurant. We had a reservation and then waited 45 minutes after our reservation and they still hadn’t called us. We finally left but it was now almost 915 at night and impossible to find another reservation. They should’ve sent a manager over to apologize profusely. So disappointing after getting the family all dressed up and excited to go

A Perfect Seinfeld Episode about the difference between taking reservations versus KEEPING reservations:
We had a confirmed reservation via OpenTable for 11 people on Sat 30 Nov at 5:15 PM and we had our entire party there in The lobby at 5:17 PM. The hostess told us there was no availability and summoned her Beared Manager who would formed us that that were fully occupied and it would be at LEAST another hour to be seated followed by a culinary experience that would require 90 minutes MINIMUM
This location of Benihanas seems to be an operational train wreck.
Fine at you own peril or better yet have a Plan B (which will wet likely need to become Plan A)

The staff were wonderful, and this is the most fun I've had watching someone on the grill. The restaurant has an okay atmosphere, but it wasn't anything to write home about.
The food though... The food was terrible. I had a $50+ dish, on the grill, and it tasted awful. The side of noodles was particularly terrible, to the point that I didn't eat much of it.
I don't know what it is about the seasonings, but I just didn't like most of the seasonings--maybe too much concentration of strong flavors.
I've been there in the past and do like their sushi and their gyoza, but I will stay away from the grill in the future.

Decent and our cook was fun. Was a little dirty. Bathrooms were gross. Unkept. Not the Benihana I used to know. Bummer.

Very pricey for small portions and quality of food they served. They made it sound fancy with 5-6 courses meal but no quality. The shrimp appetizer was 5 small shrimps split with other 4-5 people on the same table. Our cook, Jeffery, was ok not very nice and I didn't appreciated (although he was kidding)he offered prawn tails and burned stuffs on the cooking table to my kids.

I wasn't a fan so kept trying to postpone going, I finally went and boy did i regret not coming here earlier ha! It did not compare at all to my first and only encounter before this one. Chef was friendly, waitress was very attentive, people at this location at least were very nice. I will actually go back to this Benihana with no problem.
UPDATE: Jan 29th 2022, the experience I had this time around was so much worse than the first time. Not sure if our waitress YunYun was having a bad night but the customer shouldn’t have to pay for that, she was rude, nosy, not attentive What’s so ever! Our chef didn’t give us NO type of entertainment, just cooked like he was cooking alone, my brother kept trying to make conversation and NOTHING, it was just so ridiculous, then it seemed like our waitress talked to half the staff and complained cause everyone kept passing by giving us bad looks including the manager.I was having a conversation with my brother, with a low voice telling him my reasoning behind me not wanting to tip and she approached the table SO rude and aggressive asking if I wanted the Manager (which I’m sure would’ve been a joke anyway) I said I was talking to my brother how I didn’t like the service AT ALL not her and to have a GN, not my fault she decided to eve’s drop

Very dirty restaurant. Grill was covered in food and grease from who knows how many groups before us. I asked the cook to clean up first because he was just going to put food straight on the filthy grill. Grease was dripping from the lights. Plates were dirty. Salad bowl had gunk stuck to it. The elevator was broken so my almost 90 year old old parents had to hoof it up and down the stairs. Food was also very low quality, especially the steak. The health department needs to shut this place down.

We were lucky enough to get Jefferey as our chef! He really was fabulous and made the night ! It was not the same old routine -
We were celebrating a teen birthday and the faces of the kids were ecstatic . Liz was our server and she was on top of it, friendly and awesome as well.
It was a Saturday night and they have outsourced calls for reservations . The person I spoke with on the phone kept insisting we were in a different time zone as she was in Colorado. I corrected her several times that it was 6 and we wanted the 7:00 reservation . When we arrived our reservation was scheduled for 8:30. Several people behind us had the same experience . However, as crowded as it was they had excellent customer service and did their best to get us seated asap. Once we were seated our chef made us quickly forget about the long wait and the crowded atmosphere.

The culinary experience was exceptionally delightful. The service provided was commendable and attentive. The ambiance was conducive to a pleasant dining experience. The chef demonstrated remarkable skill and expertise in crafting the dishes.

Went for my husband's birthday with close family. Had reservation for Sunday evening 6pm dinner. Waitress/Server wasn't nice. You could barely understand her. She made us feel rushed. Then after taking our order took almost a hour before cook chef came out to actually cook our food. Food tasted great. Cook chef was friendly. But costumer service with server was a ZERO. Very disappointing as we spent a lot of money on meal experience. We took my 2 year old granddaughter. She was very good and patient lucky for us. You'd think with a toddler they'd have tried a lil harder to accommodate us. Waitress/server made it unpleasant. We will most likely not be going back. I paid bill quickly. Took receipt and left. Not noticing until I got home she over charged us for 2 extra meals. Almost $100 more then what our already big group of 7 adults and one toddler got. Place was packed. Looks like other tables waited too long as well. Waitress/Server name was Yaoling. According to my receipt. Next time we will go and stick with Tepanyaki in West Jordan. Normally I wouldn't call anyone out on this but she truly was no good. Ruined experience. Maybe they where short staffed. I don't know. But you treat your paying customers better than that in my opinion. Not checking on your customers group with the lil things or big things means a lot. Our family enjoyed outing together for birthday. However this review needed to be posted. Thanks!

Good food, just wish we didn't have to sit with others at the same table...pricey...we're seafood people but the strangers at the same table had red meat, which was unpleasant to look at being prepared.

10/12/24 Adding to my previous visit. You would think with the prices of food, they could afford a plummer to fix the men's urinal, that has leaky pipes and drips until there is a large pool of water (and a soaking wet floor mat, probably mixed with pee). Gross. Very long wait, even with a reservation and additional waiting until anyone attended us (1+ hrs), or even cooked food. I don't think I'll ever visit again under my own volition.
Old post: The hosts were friendly. The plates are on the expensive side, especially for what you get. Most of what you pay for is the experience, but we had to share a table, and it was just okay. The food was fine but not great. 1 cup onion soup broth, 1 cup rice, 1 cup salad, small potion of partially cooked chicken, larger portion of partially cooked veggies, 3 shrimp, and a drink + 20% tip for about $45.

Food was good. Service was good. Prices are below fair for quality. Overall look of the place is poor. Let's talk about the men's bathroom for a minute;
there's graffiti all over the men's bathroom. There is plaster missing in one spot with some paper shoved in a hole. There's paint missing and peeling all over in the bathroom. It was dirty and dusty. This was just 1 bathroom. The carpet in this place is gross. There are stains all over the ceiling and around the vents from the cooking. Which is normal for a place like this but after YEARS of cooking. Probably a decade. The cart that Quinn (our cook) was using, is literally about to fall apart. I'm actually surprised it didn't. My chair was probably older than me and felt like it.
I honestly contribute this to bad management. They need a new set of eyes to come in there and update and clean this place. My wife and I spent $199 last night, with the tip. Just her and me. That's probably enough to get someone in there to clean the bathroom. Quinn did a fantastic job and the food was decent but not great. That's not on him. Overall I think they need to take some of that money that they are overcharging everyone and throw it into an update for the place. It honestly felt dirty in there. Everywhere. And old.

I had a terrible experience at Benihana and would not recommend it to anyone. My party and I waited almost an hour and still hadn’t received any food. We told our waiter multiple times that we had somewhere to be in an hour and a half, but despite our early notice, it was clear there was no way the food could be prepared in time.
Even after explaining the situation to the manager, we were waved off and dismissed. To make things worse, we were seated with a large, rowdy group, and had to wait for their entire party to arrive before we could even place our orders. The noise level was unbearable, and the service was abysmal.
The only thing we managed to try was the soup, which wasn’t warm and tasted bland. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Save your money and go somewhere else. Benihana is not worth the wait or the frustration.

It’s been several years since we have been here. Our cook was great. The service (and portions) were not. Our server forgot half of the table’s rice until well after we were done with the meat course (and we had to ask several times). We didn’t get the mushrooms with our meal. Our water wasn’t refilled regularly. The portions used to be much larger. We were not pleased and will not be back anytime soon. We all got about four ounces of meat and three shrimp. Not worth the price anymore.

Our reservation was for 8PM Thursday night. Didn’t start eating until 9PM. I was brought soup along with everyone else. Started eating it and realized it was beef broth. (I’m vegetarian). Why wouldn’t they mention this or give options. The waitress then offered to bring me Miso soup which took another 30 minutes. Salad came next which I scarfed down.
Appetizers came next which for me was 4 little pieces of shrimp. The cook gave extra to the men at the table. Then came the fried vegetables. Lastly the entree, which should have had the vegetables in it as described on the menu. Instead I ate shrimp, scallops and lobster tail alone. I never got my steamed rice. I had to ask for it which I got at the very end of the meal and had to eat it alone. So very disappointed in how the food was prepared and unlike the menu description. At the end of the meal, the waitress didn’t ask how the food was she asked, “How was the show?” Which was not that great compared to tables around us. First time here and will not be going back. And for the value, definitely not worth it!!

The food here is great, plenty of flavor and enough to make you full. Our complaint lies with the staff. We were asked three times if we were celebrating something and each time we mentioned we were celebrating my wife’s birthday. At the end of the dinner they sang happy birthday to those at the table celebrating but for some reason they left my wife out of their birthday wishes and song. Not a major issue just surprised since they made it a point to ask a few times that evening. We felt like the Hibachi chef was very distracted during her presentation and continued looking over at other chefs and having side conversations with employees throughout her presentation. Our final complaint is with the parking. We called to see where to park and were directed over the phone to a specific parking lot and the name and address matched what we were being told over the phone. After the meal they informed us they don’t work with that parking lot and wouldn’t be able to validate our parking. We of course were very confused since we were verbally directed to that specific parking garage while finding a place to park. They said the name of the parking garage was different than the one they use but the name on the receipt matched what we were told over the phone. Once again the food and atmosphere were good, but it felt like the interactions we had with the staff could have been better.

I’ve tried many Benihana’s in different locations and the food is always amazing and the chefs do a spectacular job. This location was no different in terms of this.
When I visited this location however they appeared to be understaffed and not having enough chefs working. There were 8 tables upstairs and only 2 chefs to support all these tables. This made wait times extremely long from the time you were seated until the chef came. A separate group that was seated at our table actually left because the wait was so long for the chef to get to us.
Normally it can be difficult to walk in and get a table at Benihana however I was with a party of 2 and we were able to be seated right away which was nice.
Overall great experience, however they should probably have more chefs working on the weekends to support those busy the location is.

If I could give zero stars, we would. The wait staff was so rude and abrupt. They took forever to take our order, bring our drinks, make our food; but when it was time to close, they took our drinks before we were done and rushed us out with the check. There are so many better options in SLC, and I recommend a hard pass on this Benihana location. Deeply disturbing experience and you should spend your hard earned money 💰 elsewhere. The food was good. The air conditioning was really loud but nice and cold, too cold for the ladies in the group. The service was typical of this kind of establishment. Our waitress had really frilly long nails that would likely be hard to keep clean enough to work in food service.

I'm a local to Salt Lake City, and I went and experienced 'Benihana' for the first time to go celebrate a friend's birthday a few weeks ago. I will say... the price tag that comes with the 'Benihana' name is STEEP! The food was mediocre at best and we ended up being charged extra for Shrimp Fried Rice because our waitress didn't understand our order when we ordered the 'Benihana Trio', which is not a difficult order to understand. When we explained to the manager to change the price because that's not what we ordered, he proceded to argue with us, and we ended up paying for it because we just wanted to leave. Overall, I was highly disappointed with the quality of service we received with 'Benihana' having such an allegedly high reputation. The quality and quantity of the food we received for the price we paid was far from impressive. I've gotten MUCH better food and MUCH better dining experiences for much less of a price at 'Sakura Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar' on State Street & 3370 South. I won't be returning to Benihana ever again if I'm paying, as it just seems like a tourist trap rather than a local gem. It was good... but it wasn't great! The best part of the meal was the soup or the Sake flights we ordered. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time and money here when there are far better Hibachi Steakhouses in the Salt Lake Valley.
