The interplay of fresh ingredients, seasoned artistry, and colorful atmosphere is the essence of Shabu. Freestyle-Asian cuisine is what we do.
Shabu is a mainstay among Park City’s culinary delights. We are family-owned and have earned a devoted following over the past 14 years.
Went here on a Friday night without a reservation but were able to get a table for 2 quickly.
We had the hamachi, hot rock (American wagyu), the Frida and the Korean tacos. Everything was delicious - fresh & flavorful - except the Frida, which was just blah.
Service was very friendly and the small place has really interesting decor. Street parking was easy to get but you do have to pay ($6 for 3 hours).

Shabu is a must visit! It’s a local favorite. The food is delicious and what really sets this place apart is the people. Chelsey, our waitress, was hands down the best we’ve ever had. She’s incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering spot-on recommendations that made our meal even better. Whether you're a local or visiting Park City, this restaurant delivers on every level!

Have been a customer at Shabu for many years. The food and service is always stellar and on point. Our dinner experience last Monday was no exception. The wait staff are consistently professional, friendly and go out of their way to accommodate any request. The yellow tail pinwheel is to die for! Cool vibes, insane artwork and a fun atmosphere to boot.

Unique atmosphere as you walk downstairs to a dark, narrow Asian inspired restaurant. The decor has a very Park City vibe, especially in the bathroom. The sushi options are fresh and presented well. It's the best sushi in the area but it's also very expensive.

If you’re going to Park City, eat here! The food was absolutely amazing. We started with 3 appetizers, green beans, bao buns and the half and half hot rock. All were AMAZING. We shared the duck confit fried rice to finish. Chef’s kiss! The staff was very attentive and I could tell it was a team environment. Will definitely be back!

Nothing good to say about this place. The Japanese wagyu steak hot rock was mediocre at best. It’s a cheap cut of steak and the butter was awful. The Komodo dragon roll was just all together awful. I had sushi at the supermarket 2 days ago that was better. The Korean BBQ tacos were good and the best thing we had. The duck fried rice was solid but nothing special. Service was just ok but the worst part was they only had reservations available at 5:30. I did not want to eat that early. We were there til 7pm and the place was literally empty. At least 12 open tables which is a lot for a small place. Would never come here again. For a $200 tab there are much better choices.

We recently visited Shabu in Park City, hoping for a special date night, but it turned into one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. From start to finish, the service was unacceptable and downright frustrating.
Our waitress was visibly drunk and struggled to take or remember our order. We started with a simple request for appetizers—edamame, tuna sashimi, spicy tuna, and spicy scallop. The only item she managed to key in correctly was the edamame. The sushi arrived an hour later, completely wrong. When we pointed this out, the waitress informed us that tuna was “out.” Yet, we saw six or seven plates of tuna sashimi being served to other tables, proving she was lying.
We tried to reorder yellowtail sashimi, but after another 30 minutes, we realized she had forgotten to send it to the kitchen. To make matters worse, she brought out items we didn’t order, like a hot stone and random appetizers. At that point, we gave up hope that anything would come out correctly.
After two hours, all we had received was edamame and one sushi roll. When the bill finally arrived, it was a shocking $250! Thankfully, another waitress stepped in to correct the charges, but the damage had already been done.
This was supposed to be a memorable date night during our visit to Park City, but it was a complete disaster. Save your money and go to one of the many other sushi spots downtown. We will not be returning.

An interesting fusion of sushi, Korean BBQ and dim sum, but they successfully pull it off. Good food overall but the sushi was so-so. Small, crowded and LOUD with blaring music. Friendly staff that hustled.

This is a must in Park City. My wife and I dined in. It was a team effort for the servers but our guy Chachi was great. Pro tip, order 2 orders of the boa buns. They come with 3 each so my wife and I stared at each other in deciding eho got the 3rd. I gave in because I'm a gentleman but I also put in another order. We will be back. Of all the places we have eaten on our visits to Park City, this is our favorite.

Excellent service! I found the food to be extremely disappointing for the price point, I didn’t find any of the dishes too be offensive or gross but I found everything to be relatively bland and unexciting. I would not recommend this establishment to friends or family!

Good quality sushi. Drinks were nice. Had an excellent waitress. Unfortunately one of the sushi chefs wearing a ball cap became aggressive when I calmly and politely alerted staff to a wobbly bar stool.
He rudely asserted the floor was uneven and that I was in the wrong. Acting like a tough guy towards a paying customer probably isn’t the best way to run a business.

Shabu is a typical Park City restaurant: overpriced, mediocre food, and aloof staff. We ordered rolls, ramen, and a few appetizers. Our waiter was very distracted, possibly stoned, and treated us like an annoyance. It is worth noting that the manager tried to redeem our dining experience; she was friendly and professional. If you want expensive Asian fare and sushi, I'd suggest Yuki down the street. Better tasting and more affordable options are Kuchu Shabu at Canyons Resort or the sushi bar at Whole Foods.

Ordered sushi and it was completely falling apart. The rolls looked nothing like sushi we’ve had before. There was very little fish and not worth the price you pay. The server was not very friendly and felt rushed even though it was empty. Seriously over priced extremely small portions.

The server Matty seemed like it was a burden to wait on us. They would not split the check by what each couple ordered, brought one dish before the others were ready and was flipped when questioned. The food was ok but if you want to be treated like it’s a favor to wait on you then this is the place.

I was very excited to try Shabu, and left disappointed. The dishes are each great ideas and concepts, but each is missing some key component to really be enjoyed. We had a male waiter who skipped pleasantries and seemed rushed, and another female waitress who was incredibly friendly and polite (maybe to compensate for her colleague). The space is well lit but very loud.

We went to this place for the last day of the season and it was the worst experience we have had in a restaurant. It's a sushi place and even though we had made a reservation, they waited until we got there to tell us they were out of fish. Then, food was just ok, took forever to get service and and 15 min to get the tab since our server never came back. When we finally found her she was so drunk, she gave swipe the credit card on the wrong tab twice. Thankfully, there was one sober guy, Tyler, who was able to help. Maybe it's different during the busy season.

The food is awesome but they’re more interested in closing down and going home than serving you so in the middle of their service decide that they want to stop serving you and work on Closing down the restaurant. Their bar closes in the middle of your dinner and they start cleaning up in front of you by stacking chairs while you’re sitting down eating. If the restaurant wants to close at 9 o’clock they probably shouldn’t let any people in after 7 o’clock. It’s really too bad because the place could be really great since it’s on the mountain and fantastic but they’re more interested in doing what’s best for them than serving their customer base

Sat at the bar, Tim and the crew where very engaging in what we liked, were interested in, and did a very good job of matching our likes to what they have, and not trying to over serve. The 2 ladies working front end were great. And the Owner was kind enough for a quick accommodation. Firecracker Shrimp was quite an excellent start, they made it a nice stand out dish. Ocean Trout and Hamachi were also tasty

The hot rock wagyu beef is a must at this place. The American Wagyu is only $35, is a steal! We also got the hot pot, ok is not really a "hot pot" 😅but it does come with a generous amount of scallops and shrimps 🦐 so no complaints. The rolls are average but this is not a traditional sushi place so I can't expect too much. Overall like the ambiance and good food.

Waiter was So So drunk and ruined our way overpriced meal… would not even call it a meal as the portions are so small. I usually will grin and bear it… but it has to be known. Atmosphere and the manager were amazing. But food drinks and service…. better anywhere else…. anywhere.

For the price point, I expected much higher quality food and drinks. The sushi was sloppily rolled, lacked substance, and even the rice had a bad texture to it. The drinks are weak and similarly bland. I was also very put off by the waitress touching my straw with her bare hands to move it to a new drink, just ask the customer to move their own straw. Overall, a very disappointing experience and you can find much better sushi in SLC.

Friendly and fast service but the food we had was incredibly bland and poorly made for the price. $30 for ramen with no meat, just veggies and eggs. There was tomato slices and large chunks of bell peppers in the ramen, and the broth was pretty bland. $7 for miso soup. $17 for small seaweed salad. The quality did not align with the price point of the food.
However our drinks were delicious and well made. Go here for drinks and elsewhere for food.

Very noisy. We were with a long time friend catching up. We sat down at 5:15 and at 7, the hostess came over and asked us to leave as “We need the table.” Absolutely no concern for customer satisfaction, but rather only for dollars. They should go to Europe to learn what dining based on customers is about. No need to support this rude behavior.
Visited a year ago
Hostess was as rude and snotty as I've ever seen. Our server was nice but soo slow. We sat for 15 minutes before he ever came to see us. After that first visit, each subsequent visit by our server was painfully slow. The food was good, but nothing to brag about. Tsunami, in Salt Lake, is far better. We live in Park City and love sushi, but will not go back. This place is very over rated.

The rudest management and fakest Asian place I’ve been to. They can’t even spell Asian right on the banner by the coat rack! A small place and busy. We were rushed out of the restaurant so they can seat other people. Verbatim, the boss said “You can’t order dessert because it takes too long. I need to seat other people.” I definitely do not recommend this place. Honestly the appetizers were great, but the main dishes were mediocre. If you’re really looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in PC, I would recommend Yuki Yama. If you are desperate and hungry, I would go to McDonald’s over this place.

The sushi was good; the Mojo Rising noodle dish was ok and not worth $38. Bao buns were delicious. Decor was way cool. The tables are too tight together and the acoustics are terrible.... and this was at 5:30 pm! We were sitting at a table close to the bar area, and we heard the hostess loud and cackling the entire time we had dinner. Annoying. The little folders that are used to give you your bill each had two Anti-Vail corporation stickers on them. Why? Really weird and unprofessional. We won't be back, and we live here.

First off ambiance was very good and hostess was very polite and nice. Everything went downhill when we were seated. Not only was it as loud as a bar in there but our waitress was awful. She was extremely inattentive and it was clear she could care less to serve us. Now to the food, sushi was pretty good and if that was the only thing I got I would have thought of going back maybe but unfortunately that was the only thing semi worth the price. I don’t care if it’s expensive if it’s worth it but if I’m spending 35 bucks on ramen it better be good and I’d say it was well below average. Wouldn’t go back.

If you're not careful you'll miss the entrance to this cute little basement restaurant. The stairs are a bit steep and it's a small space. I wish our waiter had been a little more knowledgeable about the menu. I asked if he could suggest anything and he said no not really it's up to you. I shrugged it off. The food was good. The atmosphere was busy. There are other places on main st I'll probably visit first. Nice spot..good food. Perhaps I was just turned of by the waiter. I still had a good time.

4-5 stars for the food, but 0 stars for the service/atmosphere. Definitely the worst service experience I've ever had. We had a reservation during Sundance, and arrived 15 minutes early for it. The manager (Kevin), who was belligerently drunk, was acting like a bouncer at the front of the restaurant. He prioritized people who were dressed up (presumably for Sundance) and ignored or dismissed people who looked more like skiers. When we told him we were there for a reservation, he scoffed at us and then didn't tell the host staff that we had arrived. The staff then gave away our table and claimed we had never had a reservation when we tried to ask why we hadn't been seated. Luckily, one pleasant hostess ensured we were able to be seated (albeit at a makeshift table they had to arrange). When the hostess asked us to follow her to our table, the intoxicated manager physically stopped us from entering the restaurant, claiming we were trying to sneak in. Eventually, we were able to be seated. Our waitress, Chelsea, was great. While we were eating, a server (John) somehow managed to throw a dirty knife off of a plate he was carrying at my boyfriend's head. He just picked it up off the ground and didn't apologize or say anything to my boyfriend. The drunk manager bumped into our table multiple times throughout the night. The food was pretty good, but it didn't make up for the horrible experience.

Disappointing. The only reason I'm giving it 2-stars is because of the decor; very nice decor.
The ramen had great reviews but when it arrived, it was bland and the pork belly wasn't undercooked but very close, so much so to where I avoided eating it altogether. All-in-all, I spent over $150 (tip included) for, literally, ramen that was no better than Top Ramen, no exaggeration.
Also, it's a very cramped atmosphere and we had to sit 5 inches away from strangers, which wasn't conducive to a comfortable social environment. Definitely won't eat here again.

Disappointing. Shabu has been a long time staple for us and this goes back to when it was at a different location. The owner is incredibly rude, the tables are jammed next to each other and someone was constantly bumping into my chair to get by. Crazy loud because your neighbor is literally 1-2 feet from your ear yelling to their guest. Food is ok but has significantly declined over the past year and items have been removed from the menu. Most of their rolls are cooked or tempura style. Great drinks, friendly servers and bartenders but had another server not stepped in to help our server, we would have never gotten another drink order in or received our check. Owner favors his friends, has asked us to move tables an hr into our meal and is clearly just greedy and arrogant thinking more tables = $$$ and has neglected to seat us where we've requested EVERY TIME. We only request specific seating because the Open Table app requires us to and we try to sit somewhere we can hear ourselves. At the current state it is significantly overrated and overpriced. Contrary to the owner's belief, there are many excellent alternatives to choose from in Park City.

I will first say the food is good and the service was also good. However the ambiance and price for overall experience was bad. We ordered 4 sushi rolls and an appetizer for 100 dollars. The outside patio is on the street and surrounded by cars and people. The restaurant was playing 2000s club music and it was loud. When I pay 100 dollars for dinner I anticipate to have an enjoyable overall experience and here I did not. (I am giving 3 stars because the food and service was good.)

This restaurant set a bad tone for my recent trip. It was difficult to find a well-reviewed restaurant on the area and we settled on Shabu after encountering long wait times. All of the decor in here is nice it's way too noisy and makes conversation difficult. More importantly, I can't recommend the food. Although the sushi we ordered was okay, the hot pot was atrocious, and was basically a $32 fajita in a plain soup base with top ramen, as well as chunks of char (which can cause cancer).
Both my girlfriend and I agreed that this is the worst restaurant we've been to together. Do yourself a favor and go to Yuki Yama instead.

Owner and chef Bob-San has been preparing the finest sushi for almost 30 years. When you go to Shabu, you are treated with a tremendous vibe, special staff + a quality meal. Highly rated

The food here is top notch. I had their shabu shabu which was quite good, however, they said it could feed two when I would say it feeds 1.5. You should order another dish with it if you are looking to fill your stomach. The reason I give this place four stars and not five is that our table was extremely wobbly, there was soy sauce spilled all over our table when we got there, and we were given dirty dishes at first which we had to switch out. These things are simple oversights that could have easily been prevented but sadly ruined the mood a little.

Shabu is absolutely fantastic! The vibe is so much fun. No matter what you are eating it will be great. Tim who runs the sushi bar is awesome and so are the other guys who work with him. Will definitely be going back.

Extremely overpriced for the product. Ordered firecracker shrimp which tasted good. Two sushi rolls pictured costed $43 and lacked significant flavor. Overall the most expensive meal of my trip to park City with the most underwhelming meal. Wouldn’t return.

Love this place!! The food is amazing! I always come back every year.

Food flavor and tenderness below average. Steak kabobs chewy no flavor. Pastrami was thick cut but dry. Elk burger ok, but not much flavor. We had take out, the inside seemed nice.

We had another great dinner this year. The staff did a really nice job of accommodating us in every way. Consistently the best restaurant in PC in the 20 years we have been skiing here.

Great sushi and the hot rock is fun.

Had a great experience and meal at Shabu. First off, I would recommend making reservations. We arrived just as they were opening, and we were fortunate that they had a table available. Although we did not have reservations they were incredibly accommodating. My point is, the next time I am in Park City I will make reservations because I don't want to miss the opportunity to eat here again. We let Nick our waiter choose our food as we went through the courses, and he did an amazing job. We enjoyed multiple appetizers, sushi and maki, 2 beef dishes, as well as dessert. All were fantastic. This is a must do if in Park City.

Would not deliver sushi and wouldn't even let us pick it up our selves to bring home. Very disappointing, went elsewhere for food so it might still taste good.

Firecracker shrimp, Black Cod and Old Fashions. Shabu continues to be one of my favorite dining experiences anywhere.

Went with a large group and had incredible service. Fan favorites were the lamb lollipops and wagyu hot rock. Can't go wrong with any of the sushi.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience this year on our trip. Waited an hour or longer for a small order of sushi. I will say after me asking to speak to the manager, she gave us free edamame and and rocket shrimp, but it really ruined our experience and night.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere at Shabu. We were seated at the back, near the kitchen, but we actually preferred being there as it is a very crowded restaurant and we got a breeze when the back door was open. We also were served by the sushi chef, Jesus, so we were never lacking for service!
We ordered the Freestyle Edamame (which is unlike any Edamame you've ever had in a fantastic way...that's mild garlic in there!), two rolls (the Hachimitsu & Yellow Widow) which were fabulous, the Hot Rock with American Waygu (which was ridiculously tender), and the pork bao buns (which were very tasty, but could have used thicker slices of pork). We would go back again in a heartbeat...just make your reservations early!

Legendary service. Legendary staff. You can guess the rest.

5 mins late for our reservation and they gave our table to another party.

You must try the Firecracker Shrimp! Always need more than one for the table. Hot Rock is enjoyable. Rolls always great. Also enjoyed the mussels. Ramen broth flavorful. Noodles flavorless.

This place was AWESOME! We lucky enough to sit next to the sushi bar so we had the sushi chef, Tim, taking care of us. The enthusiasm that all of the staff has makes an incredible vibe for the people eating there. They seemed like they were having a lot of fun while providing excellent service. We had the poke-viche, a poke/ceviche mix that was one of the specials. When we told Tim how good it was, he told us about his passion for making ceviche and let us try his personal variation on the dish, which was also delicious. I wish I could give this place more stars and I can’t wait to go back!

Sushi and sake!!! What a blast. Atmosphere is great, service is great, food is even better. I had a wonderful time here and always stop in whenever I’m in park city.
I didn’t realize they had a “death roll” on the menu, and immediately jumped on it.
Most menus lie. Service tells you it’s hot, it’s spicy, be careful, blah blah blah.
Shabu did not lie. Habanero and dry pepper rub spiced fried crab roll!? IT SLAPPED
I LOVED IT. If you like spicy, and don’t mind melting from the inside on the mountain the next day, get you some. I’ll be back baby. Even if I gotta fight my onesie in a public restroom in sub zero weather while sweating profusely because my belly is trembling. WORTH
On a serious note: fun restaurant, high priced but the atmosphere is why you go. Make reservations as it’s always busy.

Placed an order for pick up first night in Park city. We were not disappointed! Not too salty. Great balance of ginger and spice. We enjoyed the chicken fried rice, California, salmon, & scallop sushi rolls!!!

Espectacular!!! La comida deliciosa, cocida a la perfección. HULI es maravillosa, gran actitud y personalidad, debería ser patrimonio de Shabu! Volveré evidentemente.

Very cozy and funky vibe. Asian inspired cuisine well prepared but expert chefs and sushi chefs. Get a reservation during peak season because it is often full.

Really great Asian fusion food in Park City. The vibe was rowdy and fun, but the food was quality and they obviously take their dishes seriously. Would definitely recommend to visitors looking for something out of the ordinary.

We were a little leery of eating at Shabu, thinking it might be Asian-fusion, but our experience at the sushi counter with “Tim from Philly” and “Arvin from the Philippines” was enough to convince us to add Shabu to our regular rotation. Their fish is amazingly fresh, and the rolls are far and away the most creative and balanced flavor combinations I’ve ever tasted. To top it off the atmosphere is infectious, because the staff genuinely take pride in their craft and are focused on customer service.

Good food. Very pricey. Not the ideal setting you'd expect when getting this type of food.

Holy balls the ramen here was amazing. I had it with the pork belly. They also had a large selection of sake and a nice drink selection. Nice vibe and great service. Worth it [though a bit pricy but that might be because I'm not from around the SLC area.] Also when you're looking for it, you can easily miss it. The sign is not above the door but just a few feet beyond and it is in a basement in between two other businesses [just an FYI].
