At the risk of everyone finding out about this place I have to leave a five star review. Windy’s absolutely nailed everything from the ambiance to the service to the food. Best Nigiri I’ve ever had hands down. Ask for Alexa!! Amazing server! She made our anniversary dinner extra special!

Just finished our meal here. This place has an Incredible atmosphere, great menu and they were happy to veganize a dish for me. Can't wait to come back. I unfortunately didn't catch our server's name, but she sat us around 530 pm and was just the Best person.

I absolutely love this place! My husband and I come all the time! We couldn’t believe they have now changed their hours and are now open Tuesday-Saturday 5pm-9pm! Absolutely loved the food and amazing service if I could I would have Avery serve us every time she was quick and officiant and made sure we were taken care of! Food was amazing! First photo was a udon noodle dish #13 on the menu and my husband got the #3 will be coming again!

Food was excellent and service was attentive but something was going on in the kitchen - it took over an hour to get one sushi roll. This may not be the norm and they did offer free dessert which was appreciated. Hopefully that's not a common occurrence but our dining experience was way longer than we expected.

This place used to be a SOLID 5 star restaurant. However, after taking away the BYOB dynamic from the tea room side, I debated notching this down to 3 starts but it’s still a great place to eat. You just have to pay as much for alcohol as you do for food, and I’m talking about a 1-1 cost ratio between a expensive roll and a single drink.. I could see how it might still be worth it to go, it’s cute and the food is above average, but not special enough for me to go more than once every few months now, vs the 1-3 times per month I’d go before hand.

We had a large group but they handled us with ease, the food was awesome and the staff was very friendly. The portions of food were great and the fish was super fresh, the rolls tasted so good. Can't recommend this spot enough! We had a great time at Windys!

my partner and I booked a private tea room and treated ourselves to the kimchi edamame, the deep fried gyoza, the beef sukiyaki, the shoyu ramen, the lemonade roll, and the hot avocado roll, as well as a 10oz of the hot sake, and a glass of wine, and we personally both felt like the service, the food, and the atmosphere could not have been more romantic and worth it. Freddie was an excellent waitress and the hostess was very nice, all in all making the drive from Salt Lake City to Ogden and back well worth it, and we will be returning soon. :)))

We waited an hour after ordering (I watched the clock) and then walked out without ever getting our food. Many surrounding tables were seated and fed while we waited. We were never given an explanation. I’m furious that this place destroyed our date night. We’ll never be back. If you’re considering eating here, save yourself the headache.

It seems like there are never enough people working. Don’t be surprised if you have to wait over an hour for a table on weekends.

The staff and food were good. No complaints there. It seemed like they just couldn’t keep up with everything.

It shouldn’t be hard to hire enough people. Yet another case of management being out of touch with the realities of their own business

10/10 my girlfriend and I had an amazing time tonight. Our server Alexa was very knowledgeable of the menu and super hospitable. We got the sunrise roll and the spider! Fresh taste and very flavorful. Will be back!

Avoid on Saturdays.

Service was very nice. But severely understaffed. It took 43 minutes to be seated. Then after taking our order. Appetizerz came out in under 5 minutes. Followed by OVER an hour of no food. Mind you we are a party of only 2 people. And we didn't order much.

Eventually we gave up once it was about +70min of waiting, Put a $20 on the table to cover the appetizer and tip the waitress (hopefully), and left without a word.

I know we waited over 70min because my wife texted me her order to use the restroom. And our order was taken shortly after that. (And speaking of bathrooms. There's only 2 stalls for a building packed more than the number of staff can handle. Do expect a wait time for anytime you need to go.)

I worked here and would like to share my experience. The food Is great, no doubt. Duringy final weeks in the restaurant I had a family member on their death bed and I was guilty tripped to coming into work and i never got to say goodbye. In my final days the owner decided to get drunk and make her way to the kitchen and blatantly make fun of me in front of all of my co workers. Regardless of what her point was it's completely unacceptable to drink at your own business and harass the employees. Food is great, don't work there. Go apply to somewhere else.

Our server Avery was amazing. She recommended off menu options which was fun and the sushi was delicious. Honestly some of the best we’ve had in Utah. It was also great atmosphere we didn’t feel rushed and such a quaint and fun place to go. We will be back!

Update: Disappointed in the changes.
It took two hours for us to get our sushi, the food runner openly admitted she didn't know what dishes she was bringing to our table, and they no longer let you bring your own bottle of wine. Really sad to see this place not doing as well as it used to..

Had reservations last night with my daughter and granddaughter we where seated right away, our server was nice but after we finally placed our order it was over a hour before we got our food he kept saying we are backed up in the kitchen. But the food finally came and was good, but we still had food on the plate and one was still eating when he asked are you wanting dessert we replied no and he cleared the plate with the unfinished roll.

Poor service. Tried to go here for dinner tonight. Waited about five minutes for the hostess to take us to a table. (It was not busy). We were seated and then proceeded to wait about ten minutes for a server. None ever came by, greeted us or anything. The staff seemed like teenagers that were unhappy with their job. We left without any interaction from the staff at all. Will not be coming back.

This is a hidden gem. If you want a romantic date night this is the place. You can reserve individual tea rooms. The food and the service are excellent. We love the calamari appetizer here and the sushi is excellent as well. If you are not in the sushi mood try the combo platters.

Avery is an amazing server we have had her twice now and she makes the experience so fun! She reminds me of an old friend. The food here is amazing!! We have had the ramen super yummy. My wife had the caterpillar roll and loved it. The deserts here are so yummy 😋. We had the seasonal fruit roll. My wife discovered the perfect bite. You put the fig sauce on the bottom of the spoon then the banana 🍌 roll topped with the ice cream. It is indescribable how delicious it was.

Fun place. Unique. If available, you can have a private room and sit in the floor. Food is always good. When the food comes you will think thats its not enough food. Then you will take home left overs. Im big on their teriyaki chicken. Its very good. Great place for a date night.

Windy’s is a very respected and established local restaurant. How good is the food? They are only open 3 nights a week for 5 hours each night. That’s how good they are. Reservations are highly recommended.

The restaurant hasn’t changed much in the 36 years I’ve been eating there and the building leaves much to be desired. That being said, the food is why we eat there. Every single time the food is consistently delicious. They are very accommodating and have plenty of vegan and gluten free dishes. Sushi, sukiyaki and Donburi are all very good. The specials are exemplary, very thought out and creative.

Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and easily removable shoes for dining in a tatami room if desired. Standard dining is available. The comfortable clothing is because we engorge ourselves every time.

Windy's is one of our favorite places! The service is always top notch and the private tea rooms make for such a cozy dining experience. They are very responsive when you' make a reservation. They are great at accommodating large parties and special events. The service is fast and they never get our order wrong. They are always nice about accommodating special dietary needs and preferences, they'll even make off menu suggestions for the picky eaters in your group. Their agedashi is the best I've ever had and I love their kimchi edamame. They have a good variety of sushi rolls--the usuals and some interesting ones. They have lots of other options for non sushi fans as well. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Windy's has been a family favorite for years. You can reserve a special room for a bit more cozy private dining. You have to remove shoes so don't wear that favorite fuzzy dirty pair with holes. It's bring your own alcohol as they don't have any there but you can bring it to the restaurant to consume.

Food incredible and fresh. There was a weird moment where we had the option to “choose our servers” but it’s all the same job to me, I’m here for the food not hospitality. Either way the server was nice and the food was even better. The only complaint I had was the music was tasteless, would have preferred a more traditional Japanese playlist. Yet besides that this place is amazing, feels comfortable, all the food items were reasonably priced due to the quality and we definitely stuffed ourselves hahaha. I あい this place and I plan to come back again. I’m willing to say it’s the best Japanese Food in Ogden.

We had only gotten take out from here once and it was so fresh and delicious, so we decided to dine in on Thursday evening. We reserved a tea room and the ambiance was so peaceful and beautiful! Our server, Freddie, was the main reason why I’m giving this a 5 star review. She was attentive, kind, informative, and so pleasant to us! We talked about food, Xalisco’s tacos and hibiscus margarita, and when it was time to go she took the time to put our food in to go boxes for us. The whole ride home all I could think about was how great she is and we can’t wait to go back! We started with the agedashi tofu which was phenomenal, the sauce at the bottom of the bowl was so yummy to continue dippping into! I had the Pork, Gyoza and Beef dinner plate and everything was succulent, the pork katsu was amazing and is comfort food for sure. My boyfriend had the hibachi chicken and it was AMAZING. We are so happy to have found the time to go and dine in and are eagerly waiting for the next time we’re able to go!

We went for the first time on a Friday at 5pm. We made a reservation for 2. The restaurant doesn't open untill 5 pm. The relaxed ambiance was that of other authentic Japanese eateries. Food was delectable, and service was on point. I loved the private table. Expect to take off your 👞 👟 🩰 👠 recommend this place for date night

I was invited to this place based on a birthday request. It was "talked up" over the weeks leading up to the restaurant visit and honestly a bit of a let down personally.
1. FOOD: We started with some garlic edamame which actually was surprisingly good. We then tried the salmon bites (tempura salmon) and the tempura potatoes (French fries) and carrots which were okay. The sauce that accompanied the tempura dish was reminiscent of a spicy fry sauce TBH. They only have Pepsi products and so I ended up with water. No Alcoholic beverages just FYI and no lemonades of any kind. So if you're a coke drinker, you're kinda stuck with water. I ended up having the 12oz. Ribeye which came with a side of white rice, tempura potatoes and carrots (which mistakenly I just ate as an appetizer). I asked for medium rare; however, the ribeye was a thinner cut and looked rather medium. Honestly, it tasted like diner style steak which was sub par.
2. SERVICE: The waitress was attentive to us; however, other reviews suggest differently.
3. ATMOSPHERE: We sat in one of their private rooms which is what they are well known for. Getting into our table was a bit of a task as you literally either have to crawl to your assigned seat or wiggle your butt into a seated position whilst making sure your "stadium seat" is in the right place. My wife was having a difficult time unfortunately getting settled and eventually didn't end up using the "stadium seat" provided. The walls in the private rooms only went halfway up, so you could literally hear the conversations in each adjacent private room. Not too impressed by that. You do have to take your shoes off before entering the private room so PLEASE WEAR SOCKS as you don't know what is under that table.
In conclusion, you're paying more for the overall experience rather than the food. Happy I tried it once. Won't be returning. No photos of the food because it was sub par at best

This spot is a true treasure nestled in Riverdale. Conveniently located with plenty of parking and a short drive to the freeway or Ogden boulevards. I recently surprised my family(wife and four kids 4-13) with a private tea room dinner. It was one of the best times we've had all going out as a family. Our server was beyond awesome, both in general attitude and friendliness and with attention to detail and knowledge of the menu. The food was absolutely incredible, very good with large portions and a wide variety so everyone should certainly be able to find something to fit their fancy. Everyone left with a full belly and wide smile, we simply can't wait for a return visit. I won't be able to orchestrate a total surprise again most likely but we will be visiting the beautiful tea rooms again as a family as soon as we can.

In summary: a truly incredible and unique Japanese treat offering both amazing sushi, and large variety of hot dishes of noodles, potstickers, meats and so much more, wrapped up in a wonderful bow of absolutely amazing service and ambiance. This one is a real 11 out of 10.

Trying it for the first time, was nice to have an open seating option or private option with Japanese styling for seating but a hole to put your feet in to sit at a table. Our booth had an off smell that frankly made my eating experience unpleasant.our waitress was knowledgeable and service was prompt except our glasses were not filled again until the check was brought. The food was good nothing spectacular we both had a roll and a dinner plate. The tempura vegetables were good basically a batter fried French fry. The lemonade roll was delicious. It's worth trying but it didn't impress me to the point of wanting to return soon.

They had a gluten free menu and options which I appreciated. The server was kind and attentive. I had a shrimp and vegetable dish and the sauce was rather salty. It was alright but the salt was more overpowering and I didn’t enjoy it. I also had a sushi roll that was ok but I didn’t feel it had much flavor. Our server syd (sp?) Was awesome and provided excellent service. She was friendly and had good recommendations. You could tell she was very passionate about the place.

The atmosphere was incredible. Traditional Japanese feel, cute garden tea rooms, excellent lighting. The whole place was very transporting.

The food was excellent as well. All of our rolls were pretty incredible, the ginger and Wasabi were fresh and of good quality, the rice was superb and well seasoned.

I think my only "complaint" was the limited drink menu. It really took away from the experience to be stuck drinking Pepsi products instead of a saki and or plum wine... and I'm not even a drinker. It just would have sealed the experience for me.

The weekend hours were both great, and sad. I love the vibe of a weekend spot like this, and it cuts the wear and tear significantly... but i would find myself coming all times of the week if it was open all week. I usually find myself going to tona or ohana for sushi, but I think from now on I'll be trying to book here first.

Can't wait to come back, will be my new date/celebration spot for years to come. I'm sad it took me this long to go... especially passing it almost every day for probably my whole life. I just hope I always get such a cute tea room!

My wife tells me this is authentic Japanese food and ambiance. If you're feeling adventurous, try Takoyaki,octopus meat rolled in a deep fried ball. It is Delicious! Ask for a Tea Room next time you go. They aren't just for tea.

Came here for my boyfriends birthday! Was a very nice, relaxing time. I love that u can make reservations. They don’t serve alcohol but u can bring ur own wine! The fish is delicious and the fried salmon bites I think they are called?? I’m not sure but it’s an appetizer and soooooo bomb!!!!
Def recommend for a nice night out.

Had a dinner party for seven last night in a tea room. Originally made a reservation over the phone (the night before) for 7:45 pm. Got a text the next day confirming the time, then got a second text letting me know that another party cancelled and we could arrive earlier if desired. Kept the original time, but I really appreciated the updates/offers/communication. We arrived and were immediately seated. Got a great room and Fred was our server. She did a fantastic job with all of our orders and kept the beverages flowing through out the evening. She was pretty much perfect; kind, skilled, fun to chat with. The food was fabulous ( as usual ). A wide enough variety of high quality sushi for everyone’s differing tastes. It was a double birthday that we were celebrating. Grateful for the $15.00 discount that is offered via the birthday program. The mint chocolate chip ice cream was a perfect end to the meal. All in all, a great night. Thanks for all you do!

I'm a huge fan of sukiyaki and have tried it in Japan and around the US. Visited twice and the sukiyaki was really disappointing. Both times the broth came out semi-boiling, and because the meat was already in the pot it was VERY overcooked. Broth wasn't very flavorful either... Really wanted to love this place!

Great atmosphere. If you aren't interested in the sukiyaki their other dishes were good. Request a private tea room!

Came in tonight with friends to celebrate my birthday. As always the food was delicious! Our server was absolutely amazing. Aside from the food being great, the server (I believe her name was Alexa) was so awesome, she was funny, and it felt like she was a long time friend. She made the dinner that much better. The service is always above and beyond, but she was really fantastic. I can’t say enough positive things about her. 10/10. All the stars. We will be back.

We LOVE Windy’s! Their food is so fresh and top quality, we always get the garlic cilantro salmon, hibachi chicken, garlic edamame, chicken fried rice and of course wonton soup & mochi, you can’t go wrong with any of their food! They have a great variety for gluten free eaters as well. The service/servers are so quick and kind, Windy’s is always our first choice for date night or birthdays!!

This is our go-to for special occasions. We always reserve a tea room. Love the food and the service is always top-notch. Their calamari is the best of anywhere I've ever tried, and I order it anywhere available.

I've been going here every so often for several years, and it never disappoints. The in ground seating in a private setting is really nice for a date night. Creates a nice, intimate atmosphere.
Servers are always super nice and attentive.
The food has been top notch, and I've gone to a ton of sushi places! The house salad has to be one of my favorite dishes. It's so light and tasty!

Ate at Windy’s for my birthday dinner after a recommendation from a coworker. Recently self diagnosed for gluten intolerance and this restaurant had a menu that was definitely gluten free friendly and very knowledgeable and accommodating for more sensitive allergy isssues as they asked if I needed chefs to change gloves. Lucas was our server and was one of the best restaurant servers we have had in a long time at any place. Sushi and donburi were great and in large quantities. Definitely recommend it and will come again. The staff and service were amazing!!!

Ate here last night with family and a great time was had by everyone. I think the food was great but our party was laughing hysterically we didn't even notice but I'm sure it was. Our waitress, Fred, was patient and hilarious.

Went here on 3/2/23 with my boyfriend for a date, saw on the website it was first-come-first-serve for the dining area so we went with no reservation. When we actually got there 30 minutes after they opened, we were about to be seated before another waitress said the table we were being taken to was RESERVED. We had to sit and wait an entire hour while multiple reserved groups for the dining area were seated. You CAN'T make a dining reservation online at all, it's only for the tea room. As far as I know you have to call during their open business hours to reserve anything dining related, which means you likely can't reserve and go on the same day, you need to hope they have any openings the last 2 days they're open. I really don't understand this backwards process of reserving for dining when you say you don't take them for dining, but you make it extremely hard to be able to even do so. Pretty disappointing first impression.

Me and my boyfriend went for Valentine’s Day. They never disappoint! Food is always delicious, our servers are always so kind and helpful and the atmosphere in the tea rooms is amazing. I’ve tried nearly every Japanese restaurant in the area, and Windy’s Sukiyaki is by far my favorite!

Our party was extremely disappointed in our meal this evening. The edemame tasted like it was cooked in a pan that fish was previously cooked in. The avacado in one of the rolls was rock hard. How does a sushi chef do that? He had to have known how hard it was. The deep fried appetizers tasted very oily. Overall great service but terrible food. We will not be returning.

It was a little odd taking off your shoes and trying to get seated around the table. The salad and soup were good. Our main courses were kinda bland. I had the chicken and it was chewy. My husband had beef and pork. The beef tasted like jerky.

Best Dining Experience in Ogden! My partner and I love going to Windy's Sukiyaki for a romantic date night. The wait times have been short even without reservation, the staff is kind and professional. The environment is authentic and inviting, while the food is high quality and fairly priced for the portions! We love the edamame, gyazo and miso soup appetizers and have enjoyed every entrée dish we try! My favorite meal is the beef yakisoba, it is the best noodle dish I have ever had. Freddy provides a world-class service as a server, she remembered us from our first time, is always very personable and brings our favorite drinks faster than we can order our refills. (This is beyond rare for us) We simply love it here at Windy's, and if somehow you have managed to save room for dessert, they will exceed your expectations again with a variety of delicious desserts. We recently tried the Mango Mochi which was terrific. Thank you for an excellent evening at our newly favorite establishment!

A local mainstay. The Private Rooms are cute. Food is ok too. Biggest reason for 3 starts is that the place smells like Cat Urine! Its terrible, off-putting and an appetite killer.

Second time coming to Windy's and they're fantastic. Some of the best service we've ever had both times. The sushi is fantastic, my personal favorite was the Lemonade, though you can't go wrong with any of them. Also loved the Kimchi Edamame

This was our first visit here. Short wait time. Excellent employees! The food was amazing! Already looking forward to our next visit. I think we had the Sunrise and Hulk rolls. We also had a #5 and chicken fried rice. Very reasonable pricing and the environment was great!

My partner & I reserved a private tea room. Such a great and intimate atmosphere overall. Unique dining experience, perfect for date nights! The calamari has made my list of favorites of all time. The food is absolutely lovely, there is so much to try that it is definately worth coming back for more. Among the sides and appetizers the salmon bites are particularly delicious. It's always a great time, perfect for celebrating.

I came here tonight for my partner's birthday. I enjoyed the experience so much, and I really recommend it to anybody wanting to treat themself to a nice meal.

The food is honestly incredible. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls -- the lemonade (incredible), the crunchy veggie, and the inari. All were immaculate, and my partner mentioned it was some of the best sushi they've every had. I had the tonkatsu, teriyaki beef, and gyoza combo. All of the proteins were so flavorful, the meat was so tender, and the tempura vegetables really brought everything together perfectly.

Just as lovely as the food, however, is the ambiance and the friendliness of the staff. Our waitress was so kind and so personable, really making us feel welcome and at home at the establishment. When you make a reservation, you reserve a private tea room for your party. It was one of the most unique and comfortable meals I've had in a long time as a consequence.

I can't recommend this place enough, and even though it might be a bit pricy, it's worth every penny.
