Whoever at the sushi bar is trying to reinvent rolls I’ve eaten for years, needs to go find somewhere else to work. Whoever this is thinks it’s such a brilliant idea to torch the tuna on top after the seasonings are put on. I don’t want medium cooked tuna that tastes like burnt hair. Fix it and I will fix this review

Went to dine in Hibachi & as I sat down I scooted my plate a tad to make room for the person next to me. As soon as I moved my plate there was a ROACH that came out running from underneath the plate and then it went across the table!! I had been here few times before, but this is the first time this happened to me, the waiter apologized but I left. There most be a roach infestation as it was one of those small roaches. Beware!!

I think it is absolutely ridiculous, that this restaurant chooses to close down from 2:30-4:00 everyday except Friday through Sunday. Prime lunch hours, and they’re not in service. And it might be 4:00 or 4:30, when they choose to open and I’ve waited and the establishment didn’t even honor that. On another occasion, Myself and other customers waited 10-15 minutes past the re-open time and they still didn’t open. Some people left, and I don’t blame them. Today I walked in at 2:20 to place a to go order, and was told that they were not in service; and there were still people in the restaurant eating. Absolutely insane. Will not be back.

we had a very nice young man as our waiter. But this place is absolutely horrible. As soon as the Teppan chef dumped the sea scallops onto the hibachi, soaking in whatever salty water they were left in I knew it was suck. And it did….rubbery shrimp, extremely low quality food. And they have the audacity to just go to, I think Walmart and buy the great value huge bag of frozen broccoli, carrots, and peppers and toss that onto the hibachi as well. Not sure what the deal with the udon noodles is, but that’s not Teppan cooking. A worst night at the overrated Benihana‘s is way better than this place. not to mention it was filthy.

The host at the door was definitely not friendly, once seated, the waitress was fast and friendly in the beginning, the cook that made our dinner in the grill, did not do show, was not friendly, undercooked the food(shrimp was chewy),use a lot of rice for 2 eggs, was extremely hard to understand since there was a language barrier. Also the waitress forgot our drinks so once we were done she remembered,so we just cancelled the drinks. The soup they gave in the beginning was more water flavored than anything, the salad dressing seemed old because of the texture and flavor.
On a positive note:They did have chopsticks and something to help the kids with the chopsticks.

Hi Edohana, I would like to say that this restaurant was amazing. Onething I'm big on is customer service- The server we had was named Leslie. When I walked through the door she had a smile on her face. I went the day before to do a pick up order and she had the same smile on her face. To me that makes a HUGE difference. That been said she greeted my husband and I and was very polite & and respectful, she helped us with the menu, because it was our first experience on the Hibachi Grill side. She was patient & always check to make sure we were good and if we needed anything. So, I will definitely recommend this restaurant. But most of ALL I will highly recommend Leslie to be my server again and again... Thank you so much Edohana.

Horrible experience!! We have been visiting this restaurant for over 15 years. This was one of our favorite until the last time they sold it. We hadn't been back in a while, and last Sunday, we decided to go back. BIG mistake!!! It is not what it used to be. We had Leslie was our server, and it was absolutely terrible. She was not attentive at all. She was actually rude. The quality of the food is not there either. It's so sad to see this place has gone downhill.

We had been going to Edohana for over 18 years. We have seen it been purchased several times, and the quality stayed the same or minimal change. However, today will be the very last day we ever step foot into that place. LESLIE was the absolute WORST waitress ever. My brother asked for a sprite. He said it was all carbonation and then requested a pepsi. She was bothered by it and said, "didnt you ask for a sprite?" He then explained to her why he was asking for a pepsi due to the syrup being out. She was not kind or apologetic about it and made it clear she was bothered. The hostest guy went over to her while she was at the computer and was talking to her. He asked her what was wrong with her. She nodded her head towards our table and he obviously looked towards us. We were sat at the table by the big screen by the bar so we were the only table there. Food has gone down hill badly. They no longer serve Geisha rolls, shrimp tempura rolls were not good, clear soup was bland, and the ginger salad dressing was not that great. The table was not clean either. So, if you want great Hibachi or Sushi, go to Toyko Hana in Rowlett. It is only 10 minutes down the street. Everything is better there and bigger portions. Please do not waste your time or money at this place. You will be highly disappointed the entire time you are there.

Jay was our waiter and great but listening to Mina throw a fit while trying to enjoy your meal was awkward and unpleasant . We went to a hibachi restaurant with a party of 10. Despite arriving on time at 1 pm and waiting for everyone to arrive as requested, we were still made to wait. To our frustration, the restaurant was empty, yet the staff failed to seat us. Instead, they seemed to be 'playing around.' Extremely disappointed and angry, we left and went elsewhere. Came in with my daughter on a Saturday night I was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. Not a problem. Group of 18 came in right after us and got sat down after 2 tables left without the whole party there keep in mind. Once they were sat and I asked how long our wait was I was told they don’t just sit 2 people at hibachi so they didn’t know how long it would be. Poor customer service.

I was extremely skeptical when we arrived with not a soul in the dining area and my wife had to convince me to stay. It didn’t get a lot better when our waitress had NO IDEA what I was requesting whenever I asked for Nigiri Sushi menu and not a Maki Roll menu we were given.
Long story short, it took three attempts to order Sushi, a Spicy Tuna roll and Fried Rice with Shrimp & Egg WITH intervention by what I assume was the manager coming to verify what we ordered. Also when I attempted to order a Japanese beer the waitress kept trying to give me a Sake menu. 😳

I had even lower expectations at this point. However, the Sushi was AMAZINGLY GOOD. I was in shock!!! Also, the Spicy Tuna roll was enormous and quite tasty.

As for the fried rice, it was an epic fail. My wife ordered a small portion whenever the waitress asked the size and the returned much later to inform us they couldn’t do Fried rice with Shrimp in a small portion, only the large. Furthermore, what was delivered to the table had no egg in it and the taste was not much better that something out of the frozen food section from a grocery store.

We will definitely try again because the Sushi was some of the best I’ve had without going to a very high-end restaurant and hopefully they can address the total lack of training and education of the waitstaff on their menu options and terminology of Japanese cuisine and beverages.

I haven't had Hibachi in quite some time so I've been looking forward to trying it. I ordered their filet mignon and chicken hibachi and it was so good! I added the extra $2 to have the Hibachi fried rice and that was the right decision that was the most delicious fried rice I think I've had in quite some time, if ever. The chicken was wonderfully seasoned, moist, and had delicious flavor. The first thing I dove into was the vegetables which was wonderfully cooked with a light sauce, you could have the vegetable hibachi and be full and delighted. The filet mignon was tender and juicy. It was more than I could finish I ended up taking a box home and eating it later for dinner. The atmosphere is way better than you see online in fact some of the pictures that I saw didn't particularly interest me concerning the atmosphere, so I took some pictures while there hoping to capture that it has a nice, darker tone with bright red colors and bright black colors. It really puts you in a nice mood and could potentially be more romantic than it first seemed with the lighter pictures that I found online. I would not mind coming back, I would like to try their Sushi as well as their gyoza. Very delicious meal!

Optional: I've seen this restaurant on the side of I-30 for quite a while and have been interested in stopping in. The parking lot doesn't connect to Walmart but I'm at Walmart all the time so it would be very convenient to have those parking lots connect, after all, people like to eat out when having a shopping day and they may see more traffic that way. Once I get on the I-30 I'm pretty much on my way home. Expensive idea I know, but definitely worth at thought.

We paid for our drinks and left. The restaurant was dirty. Menus were sticky, and the hibachi cooktops had not been cleaned from the evening before. That is just an invitation for rodents & pests. We came in at opening so there was no reason for the cooktops to be dirty. I can only imagine how disgusting the kitchen is.

Not too many check ins, but I'm not ignored, either. I watch a video (with my earphones on of course), enjoy the dim, cool restaurant and I'm on my way. Being a very social person, this is not my norm but it recharges me and I like going something just for me.

First and foremost, I am not typically one to write reviews, but my experience today was so unpleasant that I felt compelled to share it. I visited this restaurant alone. However, the owner seemed displeased with my solo status, and the servers completely ignored me, leaving me to find my own table. Despite being alone, I politely chose a small table. Even after sitting for five minutes, no one approached me with a menu or to ask any questions.

After a long wait, I finally received a menu and ordered udon and a spicy tuna roll. When the food arrived, they did not provide any utensils, so I had to wait even longer while being ignored by the servers. Eventually, I received the utensils and started eating, only to find a large piece of plastic in my udon. I am generally a very understanding person and have never made a complaint before. Until this point, although the service had been extremely unpleasant, I tried to endure it. However, this was intolerable because this is a serious restaurant hygiene problem and I had to wait yet again for a server to come by, unable to eat my food.

When a waiter finally came, I pointed out the issue. He took the plastic piece away (it seemed like they were more focused on removing the evidence than apologizing) and asked if I wanted a replacement for the udon. By this point, I was so upset that I declined, and they only offered to remove the cost of the udon from my bill. Although the sushi roll was fine, the owner did not seem to care about this major issue and did not come to apologize. I ended up paying for the sushi roll and left the restaurant feeling very upset, without anyone showing any concern.

This restaurant has serious hygiene issues that need to be addressed immediately. The disregard for customer service and proper sanitation is unacceptable. I hope the owner reads this review and takes immediate action to improve their service and hygiene standards.

Walked in for a hibachi grill group of 5. Was told we would have a wait time of 45 minutes. Sat down for 15 minutes then they offered to give us a table for dining instead of the hibachi grill. They kept extending the wait time so we took the table dining seating. We sat down for 15 minutes before anyone even came over to take our drink order. Finally, the waitress comes to take the drink order then she immediately leaves after doing so. We waited an additional 10 minutes for the drinks (4 teas and an orange juice.) We waited another 15 minutes for her to come back but she never did so we had one of us get up to go ask where our waitress was. About 5 minutes later she comes back around to the table. We get our order taken and I get my food within 15 minutes. The rest had to wait a legitimate 35 minutes. Everyone said the food was room temperature instead of warm or hot. The cherry on top we asked 8 times to get one of our orders. We shared food because they never gave him his order. Yes, we got up three times to ask for his order and it never came. She then comes back while we are all pretty much done eating and says “sorry they forgot his order.” Not to mention the waitress herself kept acting as if someone else was supposed to be waiting our table instead of her. I don’t know if they are understaffed or whatnot but I will say if you decide you want to come here DO NOT do table dining. Be sure you get the hibachi grill seating otherwise, you will have to wait over an hour for food. Sure they were busy but being busy doesn’t mean the entire staff had to be incompetent. This is the worst service I have had in over 10 years anywhere!

My husband went to pick this up for dinner, he specifically asked for cooked salmon for me, receipt even says salmon cooked well, and this is what we got. He looked at it and asked the person helping him and another employee that came if it was cooked bc it didn’t look like it was. They both said it was cooked, they looked at the receipt and said yes. My husband doesn’t eat salmon so he just took their word for it since they reassured him it was cooked.
I called as soon as i saw it but the place had closed 10 mins before. I will be taking this back tomorrow morning as soon as they open and hoping they have the decency give us our $21 plus tax back.

Kept telling the cook what we wanted on our food, teriyaki extra garlic and excedra. He blurted out Let me do my job. All we did was tell him that we wanted extra sauces. He asked me if I wanted to cook the food. I desperately wanted to tell him yes, I think I can definitely cook better than him. I think that I would have stole the show. My experience in the culinary arts are deep and hibachi cooking is very simple. Cook it according to the customers specifications which this cook failed to do. Ice carvings, baking, wedding cakes. I've been to several culinary schools and have specialized in different methodologies of food prep, cooking. I'm currently in the process of starting a food business. So the next time I'm approached to cook in front of customers because of a cook that can't follow directions I will take him up on that offer. To be fair, this cook did cook my scallops perfectly but only after I gave him some pointers on how to cook them. Lol

The server we had was awesome, even though he'd been working there for a few days. The others had the ramen or noodle dishes and they enjoyed all of it. Maybe slightly overpriced for certain items, but depends on what you order. I had more tgan enough on my plate and the others with me said the same. March 2024 update: Service tonight killed the experience. Waiter did not understand that Salmon Nigiri is not a roll, even after describing it to him, and that Vegetable Tempura is different from Tempura Shrimp. Also, the Diet Dr Pepper was awful, and there was no music or other background noise in the restaurant.

Original: dohana has been our mainstay for many years and the quality is still just as high. We've had some issues with takeout orders a few times, but I'd recommend them.

The SERVICE at this place was disappointing. The moment we walked in the host was terrible about seating us. After sitting waiting for 20+ minutes We had to ask her twice if we have a waiter and who our waiter is. Which was the guy at the bar but he was swapped and could barely assist us. None of the other waiters helped. Once our food came out it was completely wrong and we never received other items, we finally asked for the manager and she was completely dismissive and never apologized. She replied with “so what’s the problem” and “well you can just leave” we were in complete shock. After that no one came to ask us if we needed anything else. Poor management = poor service.

The shrimp was the right texture and the flavor was very good. The rice was excellent! Soft, fluffy, flavorful. The salad was very good! The dressing was fresh, not like what you typically get - the bright orange "ginger" dressing. The clear soup was ok, im used to a darker broth but it was still palatable.

Most of our party order steak and shrimp combo at the hibachi table. It was cooked perfectly and the show was awesome.

We had a delightful time at Edohana restaurant on Saturday night with friends.

The sashimi platter was full of fresh sashimi arranged on a stunning rectangular platter dish. Another large platter had plenty of sushi with generous pieces of fish served with natural wasabi, not the artificial kind that comes from a tube. They also offered fresh ginger sauce on cold crisp salad. Our eyes were satisfied and we couldn’t stop devouring sashimi. The staffs were very friendly and treated guests like royalty. Mojito is a must try! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone…even those who haven’t tried sushi or sashimi. The warm and cozy atmosphere made me want to come back and make this my regular restaurant. Thanks for making our dinner experience unforgettable.

Bad service!
And food was not good, me and 2 of my family members had stomach aches. Soup was cold! Chef was in a bad mood! Overpriced!! Got charged 31.25 (additional to the entree)for chicken fried rice, I understand ck friend is extra but 31.25 is ridiculous.

Good place to stop in and snag a bite to eat from one of the many options on the menu. The hibachi section of the restaurant is a good place to go and sit at if you have a large group, or sitting in the standard dining area is also a good option. All lf the items on the menu are so good and taste fresh so just about anything you order will be good. Overall great place to stop for lunch, will be back for more in the future!

Came in for to go.

No vet discount for to go which makes no sense. Own and operate multiple restaurants for years so really no sense.

Had to ask for a menu after I said I wanted to place an order. Ordered well over $100 worth of food and sat at bar with no water or anything for about 30 minutes waiting.

My husband and I's experience at this resturaunt was outstanding! I would honestly rate more than 5 stars if I could!

We came during dinner time (probably 6 or 7 PM). Service was super fast and very attentive! Our waiter had a big smile on his face and was super polite! Brought my husband a refill before he even realized it was half full!

We had the fried calamari, eel roll, 99 roll, tonkatsu pork, grilled seafood.

The calamari was cooked perfectly, I could bite through it with my front teeth and even with the better calamari I've had I don't think I've ever been able to do that!

The eel roll and 99 roll were both excellent. My husband thought that the rice seemed soft and overcooked but I noticed they seem to use long grain rice instead of the very short grained sushi rice, this is likely why it seems softer. To me it's not a deal breaker, it tasted just fine so I was plenty happy! I also highly recommend the 99 roll it is bursting with flavor!

The miso soup, salad, and fried rice that came with the entres were all good. I was a bit sad at the fried rice not having any veggies but the flavor was so good I did not mind. I realized when I finished the rice that it looked like they are using either butter or ghee (or some other kind of light yellow oil, noticed traces of it on the inside of the bowl) and that would explain it tasting so good!

The entres, my husband and I both sampled eachother's, his seafood tasted excellent, was cooked perfectly, and had excellent flavor. My tonkatsu, I'm not even kidding and I'm saying this 100% sober, the sauce tastes like Christmas. It's okay, you can laugh, I'm still laughing about it myself. But no seriously, it is heavy with ginger and sugar which reminds me of gingerbread (it works with the sauce though and isn't overpowering) and has a very strong citrus flavor that might be yuzu? I haven't actually had it myself so I don't actually know what it tastes like, but it tasted like lemon crossed with orange and very tart like a cranberry sauce. I could be completely wrong though, maybe it's just good old citric acid. Whatever it is, I absolutely loved it and would happily come back for the tonkatsu and that sauce!

Oh and I also see an earlier review stating they wished you could choose between fried rice and steamed, you can! Our waiter asked us which one we wanted before putting in our order.

If there was one thing I could gripe about it would be that the sushi menus need to be redone, they need to be laminated so they are easier to clean. They are grimey and I can tell they had tried to clean them by how wet they are but there is only so much you can do with paper, putting a plastic coating on them will really help with that! I would not say that this ruined my experience though.

Honestly the food was just OK. We did the hibachi (filet mignon, chicken and tofu). The fried rice was very bland, just eggs and rice and was a bit crunchy (burnt), the meat and tofu was ok for the price (@ $25plus a plate the serving portions were huge). The chef and server were nice. The family we shared the table with, that was a different story. They changed our table 3 times (where we sat). And the family across from us would change their orders half way thru the chef cooking and then ask for more (which is a bit crazy cause literally one dish could serve a family of four). We felt a little bad for the chef as the ingredients were already put together and he had to make changes on the fly (maybe that’s why our food was burnt?) I ended taking most of my plate home, but ended up throwing it out. I can’t justify eating food that is burnt with bland flavor. I was hungry too, but not hungry enough to sit through that again. I’ve done hibachi before, this would be like the Waffle House version of Hibachi restaurants. I wouldn’t go back again.

Service was great. Food? So so. For the price you would think you could choose between fried or steamed rice. Very small portions yet fresh. Had teriyaki shrimp with 10 shrimp. Friend had bento box and he polished it off! Flavor was wonderful. Learned it has changed hands all to often. Great ambiance. Low lit. Comfortable.

Floors were slippery and dangerous, menus were sticky and gross. Was charged additional gratuity even though our table was 2 families of four( I guess we should have pretended like we didn’t know each other ) and was charged for a kids drink for water. Still gave 2 stars for the chef and service. Won’t be back

Sat at the hibachi grill and the waitress took about 30 minutes to greet us even though we saw her walk past us numerous times to help tables next to us. She took our order and actually gave one of my appetizers to the people sitting across from us and just never brought the other one out. The hibachi was amazing but based on the service from the waitress we probably won’t be back for a while, if at all.

My wife and I went to this restaurant for lunch. We did the hibachi grill. The restaurant was a little dark but not scary. The customer service here was spot on or excellent. The chef was entertaining and the waiter was pleasant. We had the sushi sampler for starters and it was very tasty. I than had the steak and shrimp with fried rice and my wife had chicken and shrimp with fried rice. The food was very good. This will be our go to place for now on. Also the price not bad but they do have lunch specials.
