We have been here in the past so decided to go again for NYE. Guess they changed owners. Note to the new owners…HIRE SOME HELP!!! Waiter brought us our drinks and took our appetizer order. We didn’t see him again until we were packing up our left overs, and he was bringing me my appetizer!!! He said they were short a sushi chef. He never apologized and took the app back when I told him I no longer wanted it. They normally give everyone at the table some noodles but our cook did not. Because we had shrimp in our meal, they didn’t give the 2 shrimp appetizer to us. Highly disappointed! Won’t go back.

Worst customer service, had us seating and waiting for over 30 minutes just to find out our waiter never put our order in.

Host said he’d find us a seat and come right back. He was gone a long time and never came back. We finally waved him over and asked how long. He just said there was a table, but the people won’t scoot down. He never said how long or anything. We usually eat in there once or twice a year. He messed up our annual dinner plans. However, we ended up a few doors down at Backyard for a steak. They always have the kindest servers and a casual atmosphere that is enjoyable. Their steaks are amazing! I also highly recommend the bbq deviled eggs!

My pregnant wife was served spoiled salmon. She took a single bite and stated “ this tastes bad, too fishy “. We thought maybe it wasn’t properly cleaned because salmon can have a very distinct taste if not cleaned throughly. After further examination it was a bad piece of salmon. Also they no longer use garlic butter, they use regular butter which completely changed the taste of the food.

Our server was friendly, as was the teppanyaki chef. As far as the food, not so great. The rice was very crunchy compared to other hibachi places we have dined. I ordered the filet medium and received well done. I also asked for well done vegetables and they were very underdone and crunchy. Others in the party had to ask multiple times for their appetizers, which were finally served after everyone had their meals in front of them. I can honestly say this is the worst hibachi restaurant I have ever been to. Hubs thought it was fair. They have really good reviews, so maybe they just had an off night.

Oh, and I did feel that it was kind of gross that the chef used the same spatula while cooking raw shrimp, and then going directly to the almost done vegetables with it.

We have been going and sitting at the sushi bar (Murphy) for years. As we miss the old owners, John (sushi chef) has done an amazing job and is a pleasure to talk too. Brandon (Manager) does a great job making sure customers are taking care of. The service staff is very focused on the customers. Ashley, Preston and Jonathan do very well at attending to the customers. This is a great place for a family dinner.

Edit (Day Later): This place literally gave my whole family food poisoning and our shoes were covered in some dark gunk stuck to their chairs (assume it was old grease) this place is a dumpster fire. Stay far away

This place was rather empty on a Saturday night, so I would’ve expected the staff to guest ratio to yield favorable service, that was not the case. 20 minutes we waited for drinks, it took three tries to get the order right and the waitress (Ashley) had the audacity to say it was our fault for ordering an item she had to search for? Why have it on the menu to begin with? A 20 minute search for sake is wild.

I don’t know if I have the solution to their problems, maybe change your name back to Hana? Would be easier if the letters were working I guess. I don’t know, I just know what’s happening now is not working. Chef was B-grade, but at least he tried, cant say the same for Ashley, do better girl, all I am going to say.

There should be an option to leave 0 stars. My husband and I were seated in the hibachi room and sat for 20 minutes without even a drink order taken. I understand waiting for more folks to join at the hibachi (instead of just serving 2)… but there is absolutely no reason to be neglected for that period of time with no drinks. Little did they know we were planning on ordering one of the most expensive meals.

Sushi was good and that’s all I’d recommend. We got the chicken hibachi, chicken had no flavor and was over cooked. Service would have been better if two workers would have been off tictok in the room next to us.
Just not good. Photo is out meats waiting to be cooked!
Good luck

I hate to leave a negative review, but I believe it's warranted in this case. This restaurant used to far surpass Benihana in terms of food quality, price, and drinks. However, something seems to have changed since I last dined here about a year ago.

We ordered a California Roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll, and a combination fried rice. The sushi, which was pre-rolled, ended up being the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, when my fried rice arrived, it had a burnt taste. I called the waiter over, and he showed it to the manager, who confirmed that it was indeed burnt. They took it back and returned with a new plate of fried rice, but it had the exact same burnt taste. The shrimp tasted so bad that I was afraid to swallow and ended up spitting it out.

I left the restaurant still hungry and so upset that I didn't even want to wait for the manager. I just paid the bill and left. Hana, you've lost a long-time customer who used to consistently praise your restaurant. I'm not sure if the issue was with the rice, a dirty grill, or the chef's preparation, but I do know that I won't be coming back.

We dine often at Hana, but this Sunday was one of the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The restaurant had no AC making it unbearable inside. On top of that the customer service was horrible. The waitress was uninterested to tend to us. She sat down 80% of the time while we were there and just fanned her self with a paper fan. Hana was one of our favorite places to eat locally but after this experience we will never go back again. They also added a 18% gratuity with out notice. I would not recommend this restaurant unless they made some serious improvements.

I used to come here when I was little. Ever since I was 5. It was always nice, but recently, I can't even stand being in the dining room. For one, the restaurant is so darn hot, so much I lost my appetite (that never happens). My uncle, mother, and grandpa were all sweating like Popsicles in Phoenix Arizona. The service we received was terrible as well. I work in customer service, ergo I'm very understanding if an employee is tired or if they feel overwhelmed. This was not the case. He was running around like a chicken without a head, barely knew the menu items, and didn't take the time to ensure his tables had what they needed before he ran off. You would have to respond in a millisecond in order to get something across before he scurried away. He didn't pick up any of our dishes and let them pile on the table. You'd think this would be a one-time thing, but me and my family have been experiencing this in our other visits too. That spans back 2 years. It displeases me to say, we will not be returning.

Terrible experience!
Wait time was extreme (over and hour at the grill) as they obviously don’t have sufficient staff. The air conditioner is out making the building very uncomfortable. Beverage machines don’t work properly. Overall there seems to be a lack of investment resulting in shabby customer service.

I’ve been visiting this location for years, through 3+ name changes. We visited last Saturday night for hibachi.  I love their yum yum sauce, and the meat is always well flavored fresh off the grill.  Despite there being open tables in the main dining area and at the hibachi tables in the main room, we were asked to wait in the lobby area for about 15 minutes.  The host seemed to be working the front, the bar, and taking payments for tables throughout the restaurant. He was friendly, but clearly over extended and busy. We were seated at a hibachi table with one other couple.  I was concerned we’d be waiting for a while for our chef since the attached table was being cooked for, but our chef came out rather quickly.  There were no kids at the table so the “show” was rather quick, but I think we all appreciated that because we were hungry lol.  We did get to do the initial fire, the catch an egg in your mouth, and the choo choo/volcano tricks though.  The chef was attentive giving each of us our requested sauces, and cooking our steaks perfectly.  We started with the crab puffs, similar to crab wontons which were cooked and fine, but more cream cheese than crab.  I ordered the dinner hibachi with filet and scallops and upgraded to friend rice, and my husband ordered the dinner shrimp hibachi with friend rice.  The soup is served hot with a couple of slices of mushrooms, and the salad comes with a giant spoonful of ginger dressing.  Hibachi dinner comes with clear soup, salad, white rice, noodles, 2 shrimp appetizer, and veggies.  My filet was cooked perfectly medium rare, cooked in butter, salt and pepper, and a touch of sauce, it was melt in your mouth tasty.  The scallops were also cooked well tender, not rubbery, hot and seared perfectly. Shrimp were cooked in butter, seasoning, and teriyaki style sauce.  So much food, so many leftovers, and full bellies. The only downside was that we couldn’t get drinks or pay the bill, and we tried.  The drink refills are kind of a big deal here, as everything is salty, so this was frustrating.  Our server was nice and took our order quickly bringing us our first drink quickly as well.  But we didn’t see her again after that, and no one, besides our chef, came to serve us after that. She was seated with a large party in the main dining room shortly after we were seated, and it seemed like she was too busy with them to tend to us.  That seemed to be the issue in general, not enough employees to manage the number of customers present. We grabbed our own to go containers and had to leave the table twice to ask to pay.  The host finally came back so we could pay on the machine, and we didn’t see our server a second time.   Overall, will be back for the food, but aware they are understaffed.

I used to really like coming here but after today I won’t be back. Ever since they were bought out their customer service has gone to non existent. When you walk in they completely ignore you and when they do finally decide to come over and seat you or take your order you get a short and dry response. Updates are needed it smelled like a dirty rag in there and the floor was all sticky. I tried to call for a pick up order (I called 3 times) nobody answered so I drove up there to see if maybe they were just closed….nope they were open so I call again and I watched them ignore the phone. Not closed nor busy.. a total of 4 people in the building. Atmosphere is a 0 customer service is a 0 food is decent. Ill just stick with Tokyo hana in Rowlett I’ve never had a bad experience there.

My family loves coming here for hibachi! I'm so pleased at the changes that have been made here over the past few months with the new owner. The food is delicious and the hibachi filet is perfectly cooked every time! They have a sling for my youngest's carseat, too. They are able to accommodate us as walk-ins everytime with minimal wait. I almost don't want to post for fear of bringing in too many people and making it busier, but I had to comment on all of the positive changes that I've seen and what a great restaurant this is.

Hidden gem!

Kind of annoyed how a "local guide" can put 3 stars while everything that is said was positive.

Here are the facts:
New Owner- works hard and is really trying to improve the place. Since taking over it is the small things, but they have definitely improved. New menus, better cleanliness(like, a lot) to name a few.
Prices are some of the most reasonable in this style of food around - and this is our go-to.

Food is, as always, amazing. No restaurant is without their hiccups, but we (having gone many times since finding out about the new ownership) have have amazing experiences every time.

Hibachi is amazing. Sushi is consistently some of the best in the area. Service has been fantastic- this is a small business we intend to continue supporting as she keeps making it the best place in the area!

Came tonight for my birthday and was extremely disappointed. We waited almost a full hour before the cook even came out. The cook had no interaction with the table. The only “fun” thing he did was the choo choo train with the onion tower. I brought my 2 kids in hopes it would be a fun interaction as you would normally get with the cooks, nothing. There were 2 birthdays at the table and neither one of us was acknowledged. The entire table was half way through their meal before our server even came back with a fork for me so I could eat. The food was alright but for the experience overall I would definitely take my business elsewhere.

I’ve been here before at the hibachi side, however I sat and waited for 50 minutes last time to have hibachi served as there was only my girlfriend and I and they didn’t want to just serve 2 people. The hibachi was good that time but coming back this time there was again no one on the hibachi side so instead of waiting I said let’s eat from the kitchen side. Worst decision ever! The tables were sticky and uncomfortable on the regular dining side. I ordered my usual shrimp and my girlfriend ordered steak and shrimp. The vegetables (which I usually love) were steamed not grilled and were flavorless. The shrimp was gummy and tasted terrible. The steak was over cooked. I usually just don’t say anything if I’m not satisfied but when the hostess asked if everything was ok this food was so terrible I had to let her know, not that it mattered to them but it needed to be said so maybe they’ll look into their cooks ability that works the kitchen. I truly feel this is the worst meal I’ve had from a restaurant in a long time. The food was upsetting to my stomach. Bottom line. If you’re gonna eat here just stick to watching them actually cook it in front of you at the hibachi side, never order from the kitchen.

I went with some friends for lunch on Tuesday 8/8.
The service was slow. The server had not been properly trained. They didn't know much about the menu and had to be reminded to bring the soup and salad for 2 of the 4 of us. The Diet Coke was flat because they hadn't changed the CO2. My main concern, however, is that the place was filthy. The floor was sticky, the table felt sticky. We were sat next to an drained fish tank that had not been cleaned. There was dust on many surfaces. It looked like they hadn't cleaned in months. The menus were not wiped down. The plastic covers were split and had food on them 🤢. The menu cards were torn and stained brown. where they had been wet. I didn't want to touch the menu before I ate. The salt pepper, and soy sauce containers were greasy and dirty. I don't know when the last time they washed them was. If we had time, we would have gone to another restaurant. It's disappointing because the food is good, but unless they do a serious cleaning, I will not be back.

We came in because our usual hibachi place was closed and wanted to try something new. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants and I’ve never walked out of one before, but this one was absolutely disgusting.

Our first clue was the cockroach that was running over the table, hibachi grill, plates, and condiments. When pointed out the waiter said “oh that wasn’t there when the health inspector was here”
…..!?!?!?

We decided to overlook it and place an order when another bug ran across my plate. Both of these caused us to look closer and notice that the surfaces and chairs were covered in grease, the grill had caked black goo everywhere, the salt and pepper shakers were so covered that the holes were covered, and more.

We decided there was no way we were risking food poisoning, so we left and will never be back.

I asked about Las Vegas Roll, he said they don’t have in the menu because every restaurant has a different name for it. But if I tell him the ingredients he will make it. Which made me feel welcomed in this restaurant. I ended up ordering Wylie Roll. It is my favorite in this restaurant. I didn’t have to wait for too long to get my order. They listened to my instructions carefully and made it as I wish. The prices are reasonable. There are plenty of parking. I recommend this restaurant and will go back to it to try different rolls. When I wasn’t sure which one to get the greeter helped me as I was in a hurry and hungry. Very satisfied with the experience and the friendly employees.

Took my wife and a bunch of friends here the other night for my wife's birthday. We had been to the Garland location and wow were we surprised when we came to Murphy - trash bin compared to Garland. Actually, I'm not so sure they know what a trash bin is considering the condition of the restaurant and bathrooms. This place was disgusting. The sever was nice enough, Samantha. We had 2 chefs as we were a group of 14. One was kind enough, friendly, and professional. The other one was in a miserable state - would barely utter a word and when we found out he was from the same state in México where we have a bunch of family and where some of the group was from, we figured he might perk up, wrong. He also tried to tell me that what I ordered did not include scallops, so I grabbed a menu and showed him what I ordered then he went back and got my scallops. This guy was like talking to a wall. Would basically ignore you until you spoke very loudly to get his attention. He didn't pour the sauces to several of our guests and just overall could use a lesson or two in manners, let alone customer service. Needless to say we were surprised by the place - such a great experience at the Garland location and then to come here and be warped I to an alternate reality was so odd - you would think there would be continuity between same name restaurants, I assume ownership is separate based on how these two places operate but I could be wrong.

Don't go here. You'll be happier somewhere else.

Unfortunately, this place was too dirty to consider eating any of the food. We walked into an unappetizing smell, then seated at a sticky, greasy table. So much so, I didn't want to touch the table. The seats were dirty, and the menu had a weird orange fluid inside the plastic. The bathrooms were so disgusting I didn't want to touch anything just to wash my hands. This made me question the sanitation of the kitchen and those preparing and handling the food. We were served sake, but there was a little knat flying around the cup. After thinking about it for a few minutes we just couldn't imagine eating anything from here. We cancelled our appetizer and left. I believe this place could benefit from a health inspection visit.

Came here on Easter Sunday (2023), one of the few places open for dinner!

The service was good! Our waitress was bussing the Habachi room on the other side of the restaurant and us, but she made sure to come over to see if everything was okay!

Like many of the other yelpers, the place can use a deep cleaning and refresh to the interior! It was dark (blinds closed all the way), and dimly lit (but not in a good way). The booth we sat at had tears on it, and the restaurant overall looked glum and sad. The floors were very greasy and slippery.

The food we ordered was good! The sushi was made to order, and tasted fresh.

Appetizer:
Crab puff “rangoons”- was generously stuffed with cream cheese, and imitation crab meat. The sweet and sour sauce complemented the dish well

Entrees:
1) spicy salmon roll
2) spider roll
3) crazy dragon roll
4) chicken yaki soba (came with miso soup and a salad)

The spider roll was my favorite out of the ones we ordered! The spicy salmon roll was good too, and actually spicy! The crazy dragon roll had wasabi in it (not listed on the menu), so my fiancé and I weren’t quite a fan.

Great food, nice people, and good prices. I had some sushi along with my girlfriend and a friend had the hibachi. Big portion sizes with plenty to take home. The chef at the table was hilarious. Thanks, I'll be back again!

Use to love it here. We will not go back. The food was disgusting at the hibachi grill. Cook was side tracked and looked dirty. He did not pay attention and burnt the steak. He just threw the food on the plates. Asked for melted butter, he dropped it on the table then picked it up and put it in the dish. Found a new place.. Bluefin in Murphy!! Great food, great service! Hibachi, but not cooked at table, but the best cooked food!!

Wonderful place to go for special occasions, especially at the Hibachi tables. We went as an older group of 6 and I was terrified one of the two men with walking issues was going to slip and fall because the tile floors were so greasy.
We went at 6PM, so it was only going to get worse as the night went on. I'm hoping there was something wrong with the special venting that covers each hibachi table. We've been here before and never had a problem with the super slick greasy floors, that extended beyond the hibachi tables all the way to & from the front door.

I’m giving a 2 mainly because the food was good and our server was awesome. The state of the restaurant was awful.. or at least where they say us. The window coverings on every panel was ripped and there was food on the ground when we were seated. On top of that we were seated by a hand washing station. We weren’t dressed bad either. Wearing church appropriate dresses. I can’t believe they would sit people on a side of a restaurant that looked as neglected as it did. Lucky they had good food and a nice server. But they should really get the panels fixed, makes the place look terrible and sweep.

The sushi was awful. We boxed it up just to get out of there and throw it away. The service was also Interesting. Our waitress was nice, but there was also like 3 other people checking on us and no one seemed to be assigned to any tables. The manager was yelling at everyone the entire time. It seemed like an unorganized mess.

Really great food, good service. A/C doesn’t work so great they have some big portable unit that reads 75 which was to hot for us on a hot day with hibachi going on. It’s dark and seems sticky. Needs a deep cleaning, but the Wylie roll, rock shrimp and fried rice and noodles were really great!

The restaurant was very dark and dirty. The formica counters that surround the grill had rice between the seams and there was also old rice and food on the grill from previous cooks. All of the equipment appeared to have never been cleaned and just generally gross. The salad was soaked in ginger dressing and had a lot of water in the bowl. The cook was good and the food was fine but a bit salty. We wanted to try a new hibachi place and figured that based on the location it would be fresh and clean. Probably has not been cleaned properly since it opened. They should shut down for a week and do a deep clean. We almost left when we sat down but thought we would give it a try. We already ordered before our eyes completely adjusted to the dark and exposed the filth. We will not return.

I come here all of the time and I love it!! This experience was not very good but Lin stepped in and handled it professionally and kindly. She changed my experience from a bad one to a good one. I usually have a good experience so that’s why it is 5 stars. Today was an exception but it is a Saturday night and the economy is crazy. 5 stars because I love this place and Lin really cares about quality and satisfaction. The food is better than Benihana and a better price, the ambiance is not the same but you can look over it for what you get. David was a good server. Our chef was not very professional but he is only helping them out due to low staff.

This is the bathroom. Can you imagine how nasty the kitchen is. My wife also saw the sushi "chef" handle all the fish bare handed and wipe off on a dirty rag.
We finished a drink and left.
I have reported to city code compliance. Gross place..
Another nice touch is a giant empty fish tank with cardboard in it

Good food. I got there late, so I missed most of the show. Serving size is definitely enough to fill (plus leftovers unless you come starving). Kids loved it. Bday dinner was free with purchase of same, and included ice cream for bday boy/girl (not impressed by ice cream). Tip already added for large groups... beware you don't double down on the tip (unless you want to).

UPDATE: I moved toward Mckinney, so I tried the prosper Hana location... NO where near the same. I absolutely adore this location. Went again this evening 3/12/22 and the food is still amazing, the waitstaff are still amazing (with the exception of our waitress who was totally absent - but the other waiter took over at the end). This place is an absolute must try if you haven't.

Even though they are short staffed they we so darn nice and made the best out of a bad situation! There were two cooks and two waitresses you could tell they were stressed and frazzled. The chef made a mistake and accidentally mixed the shellfish with the chicken and steak so I could not eat my dinner but it was an honest mistake as we have all made them! He felt so bad and offered to make different food for me but I was ok because I had ordered food to go. The manager was amazing. This is our second time here but we will be back! Keep up the good work guys I know it’s hard right now but it will get better! Thanks for the great time.

We have always gone to the Garland location since they opened but we sometimes meet our family at the Murphy location because they live closer. The service is always great and the food is always so flavorful. They have the best ginger dressing I’ve ever had. The Hibachi Chefs are entertaining and are always accommodating when it comes to food requests or modifications.. My go to is usually the steak & shrimp combo. My Daughter loves their scallops. The sushi is always fresh as well. I’ve been to several hibachis in DFW and Hana is great when it comes to flavor. Sammi our server was the best!

Nice place, nice location. The food is hit and miss. I had a shrimp & steak combination. The shrimp was very good. The rice was ok. And the steak was bland and tasteless. Stick to seafood, I guess. Also their service left a lot to be desired. The waiter was always impatient. When he started bringing in the food, he just started tossing everything al random. Plus he has quite the chip on his shoulder, very defensive. Honestly, I don't feel like I had a pleasant time or meal. Not good for the money we paid.
