Ordered two hibachi meals, chicken and steak for $50, the portions were so small!! And the yum yum sauce they gave us was chunky and tasted like straight PLASTIC, ruined my meal immediately. That is NOT yum yum sauce. Made us incredibly sick. I had high hopes because this place was a 4 star somehow?? Food is not worth the price. What a waste of money.

The customer service here is TERRIBLE…I’m not sure if management or owners have changed over the past decade but wow, I’m so disappointed.

I drove FORTY minutes to pick up a lunch hibachi chicken order to go since this used to be my favorite growing up in Katy - with this order, it comes with a salad, soup & the rice k chicken.

Well, I picked up my order to go, trusting that they put everything in the bag but got back to my destination only to find out that they didn’t.

I called to get a resolution to the issue and was given the excuse “Oh, it’s because he’s new.” instead of accountability & then told to call the next day to speak to the manager to see if she can help so I did but

the manager? she was so rude, refused to help & provide a fair resolution - she just kept arguing back & forth of all the reasons she didn’t want to process a refund or reprepare my order.

Safe to say I will no longer be eating here unless it’s required by a family or friend to attend their bday dinner or lunch since the food isn’t the issue, the customer service is.

I used to come here a lot. But, recently stopped because of the bad service. I decided to come back once more and regretted it. First upon arrival they greeted my brother in law and made sure he had everything he needed not even looking at me. We then proceeded to order and the chef came. When it came to handing out the portions of rice he gave the most to the two men at the table some guy on the side and my brother in law. Then me and the other lady received a small portion. I then asked the waiter for teriyaki sauce and he made it seem like it was such a big inconvenience for him. He’s like more didn’t you just have some on your order. Then he walked away. I also ordered an ice tea and originally he had left sugar on the table and when I ordered another ice tea the sugar was gone. So I had asked him if he can please bring back the sugar. The waiter then got even more upset and said you just had it. He handed my brother in law the check but little did he know I was paying not him. Towards the end I gave a little tip since service was so bad. The waiter saw the tip and immediately went to my brother in law telling him to look at it. Why would he do that? I guess the waiter thought he was my husband and expected him to yell at me. I turned around and told him if you had treated me better you would have gotten a better tip. The fact that he went to my brother in law to get more money just blows my mind. Don’t get me wrong this place has great tasting food. But, from what i learned is that if you are not a man you won’t get great service.

I remembered Awhile back I ordered 2 sides of edamame and the older lady the waiter called me fat and said I shouldn’t be eating too much. I then proceeded to order more food because, I was hungry and I ate nothing that day. Just blows my mind you want to spend money and they get mad at you for ordering to much and make you feel bad about wanting to eat. I suggest you go somewhere else to eat.

I went with a group of 4, we all got the all you can eat, the menu is confusing and they only let you order very small portions, it took 30 min to get our first round, and we were trying to order another round while eating our first because it takes so long and we were told we were not allowed to do that, so the whole 2 hrs we were there we only got 3 rounds of sushi.

my friend is gluten free and we were told that we were given gluten free soy sauce and we were lied to, which in turn cause my friend horrible stomach issues, then our waitress then brought out a small bowl of actual gluten free soy sauce.

the quality of the fish is terrible, completely falling apart and the rolls are bland.

First and foremost..... They don't have yum yum sauce at all If that's an issue for you... don't go.

My family and I went to Atami Steak and Sushi for lunch hibachi. We were served 2 waters, 1 regular sized soda, two kids size drinks, hibachi portion ginger salad and soup. When the the hibachi chef began to prep we learned that they have yum yum sauce. We were shocked and right then decided not to proceed with the meal. We were charged $35 for the items previously stated. Which I found ridiculous. Whereas, we paid what was requested, I will not return.

Waiter harassed my boyfriend for a tip and when we were walking out told my boyfriend “really bro” talked to the manager and she did not care tried justifying for her waiter and I asked her point plank of that was acceptable and she said no and that she would talk to him.

Resoning why we did not tip was because we were rushed, didn’t get to look at the menu long then once ordering he made a rude comment about us both ordering a sushi roll. So honestly why tip when we’re getting fat shamed.

Changing my once 5 star review to a 3 star review. I have been coming here for about 15 years, maybe a little more. We’ve had party and after party here, several family dinners a year and many lunches with friends and lunch with my husband. We have easily spent over 10 thousand dollars in this establishment, not to mention the times we have ordered to go and even doordash from here. I’ve recommend them over and over on the Katy food Facebook pages. Never again! Absolutely no loyalty to good customers here. Getting over a stomach virus and asked for a small meal one time and was denied. Order a full meal or don’t order at all.

I’ve always tipped the habachi chef at least 30 dollars on top of tipping our waitress / waiter 25-30 percent.

This is ridiculous. As a business owner myself, I would never in a million years not accommodate one of my most loyal clients / customers that have been helping keep me in business over a decade.

Manager of this place is literal trash. She cares nothing about customer experience.

Would have rated better had he not taken his own tip out of my money. The food was good. The habachi chef was very nice but the server decided his own tip. Total was about $68 gave him $100 and he initially didn’t bring any change. I asked him for the change and he took about 5 more mins to retrieve only to bring back $21 and said he took his 18% tip from a party of 2… we were going to leave more but since he took what he wanted we left it like that. It was tacky though.

Horrible service! Do not spend your money on this restaurant! They are so rude I ordered rice bowl with shrimp not thinking it was fried and no where in the menu it said fried, I kindly asked if it could be grilled and the owner or manager gave me the worse attitude and told the waitress to take my bowl. I was super hungry and honestly just wanted to eat my rice bowl. I even apologized something by they could not I would never go here again and advising anyone on the area not to waste their time or money!

I recently visited Atami to try out their Hibachi lunch special. Upon being seated, my server Nelson was being very impatient and rude when being asked questions about the menu. He snatched the menus out of our hands and sounded irritated when we needed sauce or wanted to order any drinks. He then tried to snatch the receipt out of my hand after he “forgot” to charge my soda to the bill. Nelson made this experience HORRIBLE and I WILL NEVER return. The lady who also works in the establishment was nonchalant and did not care to even greet us when walking through the door.

We came for hibachi, the waiter was confused over something so simple but instead of listening they just got frustrated, the hibachi chef was the least interactive of any hibachi I have been to, the portions even given the lunch size was crazy small for meat and veggies. The meat and veggies had zero flavor. The rice was good and that was the biggest portion you got. Never got drink refills nor were any offered. This was my first time, not sure if I’ll be back.

Celebrated a family birthday at dinner. Typical hibachi grill with focus on the show of cooking the meal with all the usual tricks. I order a tempura dish which was prepared in the kitchen and came out after everyone else was more than half finished. However, the tempura veggie dish was served with crab strips that really made it good.
Overall, a nice place if you are into the show. Food was good. Not outstanding but nice. Everyone had a good time with no complaints.

Perfect spot for low price hibachi. Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes even if the place is empty. The front end staff are inexperienced and mostly do not speak English, so they may not even know you're there. Bar is tended by grandma and you get to play, "what will they bring me?!" with every order. The hibachi chefs are what make a great distraction from the lack of clean anything, the cheap dishware, bad salad, canned miso soup, and substituted rice for the traditional shrimp toss. I recommend showing up pregame drunk for a better experience.

We have been coming to this place for years now but this experience has been THE WORSE. Once we were seated the waiter/manager threw the menus at us and you could tell that he was in a bad mood. We normally order the Atami special with extra fried rice because it's a lot of food for two people but this time he said that we couldn't share. Which was weird because if I'm paying my money then who cares! I should have just got up and left but I was like ok fine, I ordered the Hibachi chicken and steak and my husband ordered the Hibachi chicken. Our glasses were never refilled and the customer service was horrible! We tip based on customer service and the service tonight was horrible! Once it came time to pay, we paid the bill but the waiter got upset because we didn't leave a tip on the recipe. He yelled at us and said," We have to pay the chef". "If y'all wanted to eat y’all could have just sat at a tablet instead of doing hibachi" But what got me is that whether we sit at a table or do hibachi the chef will still have to cook the food. I'm trying to figure out what was the point??? Then when he yelled that the chef had to be paid it was in front of a table full of customers.If his customer service skills were up to standard then we would have gladly tipped. If you are stressed and your job is not paying enough then GO GET A NEW JOB! You don't have to work here. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had! Will not be returning!

i have been coming here since childhood and love their food usually. this specific time i was with my husband, he ordered steak medium rare, and when it was served to us we noticed the meat was obviously rare. purple. we asked for it to be cooked longer. the manager was called over and she said she would cook it for us longer, but came back and said the kitchen was closed and we’re pretty much SOL. the outside of the meat looked cooked, but when cut open it was very purple and not what we ordered. she called the cook to pretty much argue that the steak was medium rare. cook, manager and waitress all infront of us arguing the cook of the meat. i’ll leave it up for determination.

Upon walking in at about 7:30p with my family of 5 plus 1, I was greeted by a woman stating "We don't allow drinks, put it here at the front" I was carrying a 9 month old and an unopened bottle of FIJI water. It irritated me and I quickly explained that I would be keeping the water because my baby will not be drinking their tap water or whatever type of water they serve. To greet me in that manner over a bottle of water, was completely unnecessary. We should have just left but we stayed. We waited for a table for about 10 min then was seated. When we ordered, my 12 year old son said he wanted kids hibachi chicken. Server said " No, it's 10 and under" I asked him where does it say that because it was nowhere on the menu. And he repeated "it's 10 and under" I said again "but where does it state that? I haven't seen it anywhere." He looked at the menu and said I've been working here and that's the rule. So I ordered an adult hibachi chicken for him and split it between my 12yo and 8yo. When the soup and salad came out there was a dead medium sized, black bug in my salad. When the server passed by I got his attention and told him. He squinted at the salad, picked up the bowl analyzing the salad, squinting at the bug again then walked away without saying anything. He brought another salad without acknowledging anything. Then the chef was extremely uninteresting. No tricks at all. Didn't talk outside of confirming our order. The food was cooked so quickly. Didn't taste like teppanyaki, didn't have flavor, chicken was extremely dry, shrimp was tough. There was another chef at the table behind us that was so engaging, that we were turned around looking at him and he even included us in his conversations, jokes, and tricks. The check came and gratuity was already included. I don't know if it was because of the party size or because they automatically add gratuity for every party but if it was because of our party size that is weird because it was 5 of us. 3 adults and 2 kids. The baby shouldn't count. Server never came back over and another waiter came and took the signed check as soon as I had signed it which was also just another sign of terrible customer service. The experience, the food, and how the bug in my salad was handled is why we will not be customers there again. Had to be the worst hibachi experience.

We dined in at the Hibachi table for the first time and it was a terrible experience. Since we expected the hibachi chef to do some tricks for my kid and of course other people at the same table, but he didn't do much compared to other chefs. My kid ended up watching the chef at the other table.

The worst part is they would want you to eat fast and go, so they can give the table to other customers waiting in line. Owner/manager/bar tender seemed don't care about the customers when they leave. They didn't say anything to us when they saw us leaving. My family was so disappointed, so I strongly don't recommend this place.

The place is not infant & toddler friendly FYI.

Guys.. don't walk. RUN to Atami!! We went here to have a chill bday dinner with our sons and had the BEST hibachi experience. Dexter was our man and he put on an awesome show. He had us cracking up laughing, catching food with our mouths and we were in awe of his mad skills. From tossing eggs, to working the knives, he was great... though he jokingly said it was his first day, my 5 year old son declared him to be a "masterpiece chef".
The food was awesome as well and all 4 of us left completely satisfied with the whole experience. If you go, ask for Dexter. 10/10, would recommend!!

My score is zero. Today I was very shocked by the behavior of the employees. I work in food delivery, but this is the first time for me. The employee tells me to confirm that I received the order, after that I showed my phone and took the order. But the unpleasant employee snatched the order from my hands and said that she did not see that I had confirmed it. And then she told me when I was leaving the restaurant to get out of here. ARE YOU EVEN IN YOUR MIND??? You need to change the name of the restaurant to "Prison". I do not recommend this place to anyone and will definitely tell all my friends and acquaintances.

I’ve never ordered from this place before so decided to give it a try. I was gonna order through Uber eats but called the restaurant first to ask what certain rolls had inside since it didn’t say on the website. My husband called first and a lady answered. He then proceeded to ask her a question regarding a roll and she said she couldn’t answer his question. He then told her “if you’re too busy I understand” she then just hung up. I called back from my phone and a gentleman answered. I asked him what the spider roll had. He gave his response, then I had another question about another roll and as I told him one second (while I was looking at the menu) he then hung up on me. I do not eat here NEAR enough. I took my granddaughter for a late lunch today and we shared some appetizers (dumplings and crab ragoon) then our meals came. 😋 The cold ginger dressing on the salad is so phenomenol I bought some dressing to take home. My chicken and steak hibachi was perfectly PERFECTLY seasoned and delicious as was the vegetables. Her steak fried rice as well. However....the BEST part about today was our nicest server Lucas who helped my 10 year old granddaughter learn to use chopsticks and helped us with discussing the difference between Japanese, Chinese, Thai etc food's. I just love this place!!

Food is always good. Sushi and sushimi seems fresh.
If you have food allergies you have to get the right server. Some of them don't care one at all and will feed you something your allergic to without checking. Check with the manager if you have food allergies or go somewhere else.

They sat me and my husband under an air vent that had no ceiling tile over it. We froze the whole dinner and our food was cold. Told the manager just so they wouldn't sit no one under that vent until it was fixed. They didn't seem concerned. The blamed the waitress. We won't be back!

We have been coming over the years for mainly birthday events, graduation celebrations, etc. Always had a pretty good experience. Well last night was so unpleasant that we left before even getting a chance to order our food. So they lost out on money big time, because we also planned on buying drinks as well. The lady who sat us down, older Asian lady with her left eye partly shut, came up to my mother as she was putting her purse on her chair to sit down and proceeded to yell at her. Telling her she could not sit in the seat and grabbed her purse off the chair pushing it back to her. What happened is she miscalculated the seats (there was 7 of us) and instead of apologizing for her mistake she storms off. As we were leaving we were confronted as to why, then she got nasty when we told her she shouldn’t have acted that way. I asked for a manager and no one responded. Then she shrugged her shoulders and said I’m the manager. She clearly was not, because all managers have a level of customer service which she did not have. I asked her what her name was, she laughed and said Maria. She obviously said that because she assumed we were Hispanic and was clearly adding to situation instead of making it better. I will be following up with the actual manager. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Save your money, or go to Benihana’s. This restaurant does not want your service.

Unacceptable , no managers at this facility . Cooks are not giving the portions of food they normally service . I had 1 piece of brocollu with 2 carrots on a filet mignon dinner . Rice had no flavor . No good .

The meat/seafood was overcooked and all of it was VERY overseasoned with pepper. Not one thing from tonight was worth the horribly overpriced bill. This was all brought to management's attention in a very polite way; there was barely a half hearted apology given, no offer to rectify or attempt to correct. Nothing. Everyone, especially the kiddos, left bummed and annoyed at the time and money wasted. Could be upkept better. Front bar entrance area cluttered and gives a "unclean feel". Boxes and menus on chairs. Service is just ok. Server disappears. The food is great and that is what keeps us going back.

The attention of the waitress was awful, the cashier was very friendly, but the other lady with red hair was rude, she reluctantly threw my husband's beer and did not take kindly to us. And she despite everything she had the nerve to ask us for a tip. I will never eat there again. I pay the same as the others to receive pleasant attention

It was passed 4 so we paid a little more for Habachi grill chicken and it was good our chef was really nice and we had fun. But my only bad comment is about the dirtyness in the Ceiling. Normally I do not write reviews, but the experience I had at this restaurant was messed up. The server my sister and I had was not paying attention while we were ordering and would interrupt me as I was trying to order. The worst part was the end. My total was $73.99 and I gave my server $100. When I got my money back, he only gave me $10. I was puzzled and confused because the change was not adding up and when I called for my server back, he had said that he took the gratuity out himself. Now I know that their policy is taking the gratuity out with a party of 5, but taking your own gratuity out with only a party of 2 is not apart of their policy stated by the manager Mona when I called after the incident. He took out more than the gratuity percentage options given in the receipt. To sum it all up, our server scammed my sister and I. Our server was Nelson. Very upset and disappointed at this restaurant, because I wanted to take my sister out for her birthday and instead we ended the day with feeling taken advantage of.
