Aburi Sushi

My husband and I were walk-ins and they welcomed us so nice. We sat at the sushi bar and our server gave us exceptional service. I've never been treated this well when seating at a sushi bar. They were able to bring some off the menu shishito peppers for me and they were great!!
We ordered brussel sprouts as well to start and the consistency was perfect, not too sweet and enough crunchy. Our 3 specialty sushi rolls were the shaggy dog, orange dragon and spring truffle. They were well served and we took one of those to go. Our server was very helpful but not on top of our dinner all time. The atmosphere is beautiful, you wouldn't picture this place to be like this from the outside. Great for date nights or night with friends. Restroom is very clean and the hall smells good. When we finished the hostess was very friendly. 10/10 will come back

Everything I ordered was so delicious, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned (I will attach the photos with the name of the dishes below). The sushi was absolutely fresh and flavorful. Each roll was beautifully presented, with vibrant colors and delicate textures.The most impressive dishes are Truffle Madai and Butter Hotate Hand Roll in seasonal feature menu and Hamachi Ota Ika in regular menu. The server was friendly, helpful, dedicated, and passionate. She also has a good knowledge of the menus. Most of our food is her recommendation. Their cocktails are amazing as well, the perfect balance of alcohol and flavors. As far as I knew, they also offer omakase at the sushi bar upon request. Moreover, their social hour and lunch menu are great deals to give them a try. The lunch feature menu is offered from 11AM to 2:30PM from Monday to Friday, 12PM to 3PM on Saturday. The social hour is from 5PM to 7PM from Monday to Friday, 3PM to 6PM on Saturday. Please bring your family and friends to try as many dishes as you can. Aburi Sushi totally deserves 4.8 stars here on Google or even more.

What an incredible experience. We had Tim as our server and he did a wonderful job. I let my friends order and we shared a ton of plates. The decor was well designed and was very group friendly.

My favorite was the Aburi flight and the Blue fin with Quail Egg. Thanks for making us feel at home at your establishment!

We came here due to reviews that we read, we are NOT disappointed! The experience was top rate from the moment we walked in! Reception was polite to the point of letting us chose our seating with no nothing but an understanding smile. We chose the bar area for a quieter atmosphere, the seats were way more comfortable than they looked and the bar tender, Cam was unbearable! The carpaccio trio, hotate foigra, and the Aburi flight…delicious! You must order the Last Word, not on the menu, Cam makes it sooo perfect! It’s a very refreshing gin drink. Tip: save the scallop foigra for last, that’s the taste you want to stay in your mouth. Don’t miss this experience!!!

came here for social hour (ends at 7pm!) & will definitely be back. highlight dishes: teriyaki hamachi kama, mango panna cotta, chili shrimp (came hot & juicy), the hamachi carpaccio. these dishes were so good we ordered multiple rounds!

cocktails are also well balanced — strong but not too sweet. the restaurant space feels very open & calm; i’m so happy i tried this spot out

Food was fresh with a very nice selection. Service was spectacular. I also appreciated the amount of alcohol in the lychee cocktail. However, probably with the focus on corporate customers around the neighborhood, they overlooked the mac & cheese from kid meal. For $9, it looked & tasted like store bought, my son refused to eat them.

This place is 5 stars all around!
Food: 5/5 so good and fresh! We had the lunch special. The amount was generous and the food was fresh! The nigir was delicious and beautifully made. The miso soup was yum. The chefs roll was top tier. Alll included in our lunch special. We even got yummy dessert and it was so cute! This was such a yummy and nice family lunch. My husbands sidecar was A++ as well! Very creative take and refreshing.

Service: 5/5 the staff here are so kind! They are very welcoming and accommodating. As a a young family, it can be overwhelming to go out to eat with a baby but at Aburi they make you feel welcomed and think of everything!

Atmosphere: The restaurant is gorgeous. It is very aesthetic and modern. Very welcoming!

Over all, 5/5 ⭐️ and we will be back for our next sushi fix or just for a nice quality cocktail!🤗🥰

We ordered 2 dishes for lunch, baked seafood rice bowl, and BBQ grilled meat with rice (i think it's actually a vietnamese dish). Both were not great, especially for the price. The BBQ grilled meat was super dry, too salty, and too sweet. The baked seafood rice was alright, tasted like cheap cheese and and frozen seafood on top fried rice. Both dishes shouldn't belong to a Japanese restaurant.
Service was good though.

Aburi is a hidden jewel. I frequently visit this restaurant for many reasons, but the main reason is the food. All the HH items are very fresh and tasty, and the Japanese old fashioned is outstanding. Great food, cool ambiance, and attentive service. You must visit this restaurant!

I live in Katy and hardly go into the city but my friend recommended this restaurant to me and I had to try it. My other friend raved about how their children’s menu was and indeed it was a really good selection. I have 3 kids that all like different things and they all had something different on the kids menu which they enjoyed! My husband and I had the yellowtail carpaccio which melted in our mouths, tuna tartar- who can go wrong with that! We also had otoro which was the best toro I had ever had 😂 and we also ordered a roll, which was super delicious too! The server was amazing! She was so nice and very attentive, the owner walked around to check on his guests, who was also very nice. Oh by the way, congratulations on y’all’s first year anniversary! While I got to celebrate my birthday with my family there. I’d definitely recommend this place! The sushi and rolls were the best! 🤤🤤🤤 my husband had a drink from the menu and he loved it so much he had me try it 😂 overall, this was a very nice treat!

I've been here twice now, since I've relocated to Houston. Ton (forgive me if I misspelled it) is amazing. The place is lovely. It wasn't crowded either time I visited, which I personally prefer. The customer service is top tier!! If you're a pro or amateur when it comes to cooked and raw sushi, Ton will help you out. I don't have enough kind words to say. My waiter's customer service was superb, but everyone was friendly and kind. The food was fresh and the options were plentiful. The drinks are great! What else can I say? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The nigiri was even better than the service, which was phenomenal. The Scottish Salmon nigiri melts in your mouth. This is my favorite sushi we have had since traveling in Vancouver. We will definitely be returning when we are back in Houston.

Shaggy dog is weak flavor here, completely different from every restaurant.

Californa roll is light flavor

Combination fried rice is slightly too oil but it's at least flavorful.

Yellowtail fish is soft and good change of flavor from sushi. Very delicate.

I was hoping to like this place based on the reviews. But the experience was subpar. We came in for dinner at 9pm, and by 9:40, we were being rushed out, although our server was kind and polite about saying "no rush". Yellow bucket mop bin rolling by while food is still be eaten, lights behind the sushi bar being shut off...chairs being moved around near us...my friend was chugging her cocktail she got at "last call" because everyone was rolling up their aprons, and shutting down around us, well before 10pm. I understand the place closes at 10pm, but for these prices, we didn't expect to feel unwelcome while we were still trying to finish our meal. For the top dollar pricing, I would go to Uchi or MF sushi or Katami or Kata Robata for a better atmosphere and better quality food. My first glass of wine was old and had turned, (the bartender was nice and really gracious about opening a new bottle). The sushi "Aburi" style was just ok, they just put a blow torch to the sushi but instead of torching then plating, the fat had rendered onto the board making pools of fat on the sushi and under it, the rice didn't stick together anymore.

Exterior is a bit deceiving, but great vibe and decor inside, and the food and drink options are excellent. Soft, upbeat music playing in background, but not so loud you cannot carry a conversation. We love coming here after long week or after a movie around the corner. Lots of parking and great staff always welcome you and remember you. Love this place!

Great spot! From outside it may not appear as much, but this is actually a premium high-end sushi spot in terms of both atmosphere and food quality, I would rank it up there as a top 5 sushi spot in Houston! Will be a repeat customer for sure.

Now they are not open all hours but when they are they serve top tear drinks and sushi is always fresh. Try the nigiri here it's definitely worth it. We are at Aburi the other night and I was absolutely blown away. The sashimi cuts were generous and their aburi bowls were something that was unique to this restaurant. I am definitely putting this on the constant rotation.

My partner and I dined in over the weekend and we were very excited to try this place. The food was amazing and quality was great however I had an issue with the service. It felt like if you weren’t a regular, you don’t get much care for. Waiter was very dry with his responses and we were barely checked on. For me I’m all about the service considering we are an LGBT couple but as amazing the food is, I don’t think I’ll be back.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in the area. They are relatively new so it’s a hidden gem. The quality of sushi, nigiri, rolls and all the dishes are steps above most other Japanese restaurants in the area, a close second to Kata but with better pricing and easier to get reservations. The space and ambiance is beautiful. We frequent this place with family, have been to a birthday party here, and it’s now a family favorite of ours. I have no clue why this place is not jam packed, especially during lunch given their great lunch menu.

Not my absolute favorite sushi but one of the best options in Houston. Service was excellent and the ambiance is elevated, romantic. I enjoyed the Blanco special roll which was very fresh crunchy with jalepano. If I went back I would definitely order the calamari again as it was well done and a good portion. Definitely worth a try if you haven't been and like sushi.

5 stars easy straight across. Tan was amazing. The host at the door was very polite and helpful. Tan had the best recommendations, accommodations were above and beyond and the food was delectable. Very friendly. Clean. Atmosphere 10/10. Overall experience was great. I’d highly recommend their 3 course lunch special and I will definitely be returning. Thank you so much.

Oh man what a great place, the food great, the aesthetic and ambiance great and the service always attentive and helpful. Only downside is it's a bit pricey so be ready to spend but other than that a must try place for sure 👍

This place is quite new since they just opened in August of last year but I’ve gone twice already and really enjoyed everything! Quality and flavor of the fish and all the dishes we had were wonderful and the amount you get was really decent whereas some other places give you such a thin pieces of nigiri/sashimi but this was not the case here. Yakiniku and Aburi on fire were some of our faves as well. Definitely worth checking out!

Came here for dinner with friends last week. We ordered some items that were recommended by our server and items that we picked out ourselves. The sashimi was served on ice cold plates. What a positive difference in the taste of the fish as opposed to room temperature fish. The sushi rice was warm without offsetting the fish. The presentation was classy. The service was good and attentive without being in your face. Every dish was excellent and memorable.

Was impressed with most aspects of the restaurant, they use real ceramic or stoneware, not plastic. The sushi was fresh and properly handled. The ginger is the natural version, not the pink variety that has artificial colors and sometimes sweeteners which change the sushi experience. Service could have been a little better as we had to flag down the wait person a few times and the hot tea did not have enough tea in it the first time. Was a little cold, perhaps they had a draft by the door (not front) that we sat near.

I am obsessed with this place. We sat at the sushi bar and it was so nice to see the sushi chefs making the rolls with their unique spin. One of the rolls came out with a nice wood smoke infusion. The dumplings were made traditionally where we cracked the crust. The fried rice was decadent. I had a classic lychee martini and it was made very well. I definitely plan on returning and making this a go-to spot.

Went here to celebrate my birthday back in September and it happened to be their soft opening. We have been in love with the place ever since! They were so attentive and accommodating. Mybgf has an allergy to fish but loves going to sushi restaurants with me, and they accommodated everything no questions asked! They were so nice about it too. The food is amazing, as is the presentation. I've had the nigiri tasting which was insanely good. My favorite is the Aburi Fire, though. Amazing flavor, very cool presentation. The atmosphere is very modern and nice! I will say the sound carries a bit with the rounded walls so if there's a loud squad in there it can be a lot of noise... Other than that though, this place is definitely worth the hype

I wish I was rich, so I could eat here two times a week minimum because it is a tad pricey! But the Sushi and Sashimi are by far, by far the best in all of Houston.🙌🙌🙌💯

The detailed preparation, artistic creativity and meticulous presentation are just over the top. The staff is terrific. The place looks great. Can’t say enough about it. Have not had a single disappointing bite of anything over my past four trips. Forgot, the drinks are awesome, especially the Mojito.

Can’t wait for my fifth visit. I guess, I’ll just have to sneak over by myself. After reading other reviews, they have Social Hour?? 😍😎 OMG…OMW!

Aburi sushi, boasts not only some Of the BEST Sushi in all of Houston… Their customer service and their Spicy Miso Ramen, are unquestionably the best!!I’ve had the pleasure of getting ramen a lot of places in Houston, as well as in California and NY. Three states that have been deemed Mecas in the culinary space! This Ramen, is undefeated. I assure you, you’ll struggle to remember having had a better bowl of Ramen, than their spicy miso ramen!! Man…. I think I need to go get another bowl.

I’m in love! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was very fresh tasting and I loved the little spin they put n common dishes. My friend joined me and is not typically a big sushi eater, but she loved everything as well.

The service was phenomenal. My waitress was able to give me specific recommendations based on my taste profile.

The restaurant is super cute! Perfect for a cute photo opportunity. The dress attire was super casual, but I could see myself getting cute for a date night.

This will be my new fave for a while and I recently learned that they have HH so new post coming soon!

cannot believe this place does not have more hype. they recently opened and are not nearly busy enough for the quality and price of the fish. reasonably priced sushi with amazing cuts. you cannot skip the chirashi bowl and nigiri here.

When it comes to sushi…I do not play. I loved this new restaurant from the owners of Ono Poke (now closed 😢).

When my coworkers and I go, we order the lunch special. Lunch special comes with a soup or salad, entree, and dessert. I usually order the house salad, daily chefs special (comes with a roll and 3 nigiri’s), and the mango panna cotta 😩😩😩so freaking good! Since we go during lunch, we order everything at the time they take our drinks.

Besides the lunch special, we order the calamari and spicy edamame. ANDDDDDD sometimes the BREAD PUDDING! TO DIE FOR! I could eat the whole thing if I had no self control🤣

Food was so delicious. Presentation was beautiful and I think the lox roll is my new favorite! Everything it could be and more. We will definitely be returning. If you are looking for great sushi look no further. Atmosphere is quiet chic! Drinks are delicious. It is family friendly as well! Even overheard a 3 year old tell her dad they needed to come back! They really let the quality of the food speak for itself!

My only “complaint” was having trouble choosing what to get because everything looks so good! And based on the multiple shareables and entree I had, everything is delicious! The only thing I want to advise on is the espresso martini, it’s almost straight espresso and vodka so if you like black coffee it’s perfect but if you like your espresso martinis on the sweeter side then opt for the Cafe Japon. Absolutely everything was amazing and well worth the price! Appetizers to dessert, there’s not a thing more I could’ve asked for. Thank you Sheila for being so lovely and attentive! The service was impeccable and I can’t wait to come back.

Can't go wrong with uni, otoro, and chopped scallop nigiris.
Rice texture on point. Didn't crumble when you picked it up and wasn't to mushed. Taste was good, and temperature was exactly how sushi rice should be. Favor profile of each was deep and developed, but not overwhelming, making the star ingredient (I.e. the fish) shine.
10/10 would recommend.

Aburi is a sushi restaurant that offers a large menu of sushi and other items. The interior is beautiful and spacious and is perfect for an intimate date or gathering with friends.

I went during happy hour and got the lychee martini and one of each $4 nigiris on the menu. I also got the shaking wagyu and nigiri plate.

The cocktails were delicious and was not too strong. The nigiris were good and tasted fresh, and I really enjoyed the nigiri platter. I definitely recommend going during happy hour when the nigiri pieces are at a better price! The shaking wagyu was also good. However, it tasted like regular bo luc lac (shaking beef), and although the dish was elevated with wagyu meat, I do not think it tasted substantially different or special compared to regular meat.

Overall, the cocktails and sushi were delicious and fresh, and the interior is ideal for an intimate dinner. Service was also great, and the server was very attentive, making sure to visit us numerous times. I would definitely visit again and stick to the sushi and cocktails!

This place was delicious! The yellowtail, Salmon, and Tuna were fresh and so good. The spicy chopped scallop, spicy edamame, and walnut shrimp were all exceptional as well. I love the design and location too, great job on the interior!

I’ve come here twice and have really enjoyed eating here both times. The ambiance of the restaurant is surprising because on the outside it looks like a basic chain restaurant. I love the inside design and aesthetics, it creates the perfect atmosphere for a date night/hang out with friends.

Food items I’d recommend:
Appetizer - chili garlic edamame, crispy skirt gyoza, green bean tempura
Sushi - gulf of Texas, foie gras nigiri, aburi on fire
Ramen - Spicy Miso.. it was the perfect level of spice
Dessert - bread pudding ..this might be the best bread pudding I’ve ever had.
Cocktails - Torri south side

Our server Anh was great! She gave us great sushi recommendations and we love her honesty! We came here for a birthday dinner. Everything was beyond delicious the atmosphere is very nice and modern. I really enjoyed the scallop froie gras nigiri and toro uni caviar nigiri. They were combinations I would have never thought could work together so well, I highly recommend! Also hamachili is spicy, but so good!!

Such a posh restaurant! Loved the ambiance. I’m actually very impressed with their plates and silverware. Seems like they really out effort into making this place inviting! The service was great, our waitress was very attentive and always
smiling. Their hot tea was served in this nice cast iron pot with matching tea cups. Our favorite was the wagyu fried rice, chef’s kiss! It was flavorful and a large serving. Also had the seaweed salad, honey ginger brussel sprouts, salmon sashimi, yuzu shiromi hand roll, house smoked salmon, ebi and uni. Didn’t order all that much since we’re planning on coming back to try more of their items!

Ambiance: The ambiance of the restaurant was amiable and quiet. It had a modern aesthetic with pleasant lighting for a great setting on any occasion.

Service: The staff was incredibly attentive to not only me but those I could also see. Water was constantly filled, and timely check-ups and coordination from the entire team made the experience pleasant.

Food: For starters, I had a couple of dishes, the A5 Wagyu, Scallop & Foie Gras, and Beef Tataki. The main course was the Aburi on Fire and Hamachili. Dessert was the Bailey's Salted Caramel Bread Pudding. Now, I could tell from the starters and main dishes that the ingredients were fresh. The noticeable taste was that of Adequate components; however, that is all. The food lacked flavor in anything but the sustenance's quality, making everything taste similar. If the restaurant used spices, dressings, and other condiments such as spicy mayo, ponzu sauce, eel sauce, and sweet, spicy sauce were used in the dishes, it would significantly enhance the flavor of the superficial quality ingredients. The desert was an average bread pudding that was enjoyable but nothing extraordinary.

Price: Reasonable of what you would typically expect in a sushi restaurant.

Overall Score: Concluding everything, I give this restaurant a 4.3. It was a pleasant experience, but significantly lacking in taste from what I've seen in other high-rated restaurants.

Ashley was an amazing server, so kind and attentive and gave lots of great recommendations! The food was good, crispy rice with tuna was my fave and the happy hour is a really good deal especially for nigiri while still being high quality! Also mango panna cotta is a must try. Let me just say this is by far the best Japanese restaurant in Houston by far. The service was amazing with our waiter being very attentive to detail throughout the night. He bought each dish one out at a time to give our great appreciation for each dish. Everything was so fresh and rich in flavor. Our favorite was the Hamachilli was so fresh and delicious easily the best roll we have ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for high quality food.

GNO on a Saturday night! I have to say I love restaurants in Houston that are located in a parking lot that is FREE and easily accessible. No stress about parking. Once I entered the restaurant you are welcomed by a hostess and it is located right next to the bar. Btw, you can eat and drink at the bar if you wanted. They sat us down and took our drink orders quickly. The restaurant is pretty new and just opened so it wasn't very crowded. Great lighting, not too dark and definitely not too loud where you gotta scream across the table. The food was delicious and the price is pretty reasonable. Fish was fresh, drinks were on point. Must try date night , dinner with family or friends. It's pretty casual so you can wear jeans or shorts and of course dress up if you like.

Aburi is a must to check out if you’re looking for great ambience, great vibes, great service and great food. You must check out the toro uni caviar, scallop & foie gras, miso glazed sea bass and for the dessert the banana bread pudding. This will be the new hot sushi place in Houston! I will be returning.

The food here is amazing! There is something for everyone. The quality of fish mixed in with the awesome staff is unmatched!
The ambiance has a great feel to it and it’s very clean
Staff is extremely helpful and kind
Social hour has an amazing menu from 4:30-6:30p
And you can’t forget about the bar! Full bar with knowledgeable bartenders what a great addition to the neighborhood!
Try their tumeric salad and potato and wagyu plates you won’t regret it!

Let me say that I am blown away by this venue, service, atmosphere, food , not only vast selection of saki but full, accurate, descriptions of each and every bottle which the 2 we had were spot on. We were all immediately impressed by the ambiance upon entry.

Brussel sprouts and calamari are pretty common appetizers, however Aburi's stood out in flavor and texture; the HONEY GINGER BRUSSEL SPROUTS had a perfect mixture of ingredients that delectably reduced the typical bitterness of brussel sprouts, and the texture of the PEPPERED CALAMARI was perfectly cooked without the unpleasant chewynesss.

Ordered several other dishes.

The HAMACHILI signature roll stood out in flavor -got us looking back at the menu again wondering what beautiful combo of flavors just delighted our taste buds (don't let "Thai chili" fool you- was not spicy for those who dislike spice).

Receiving our order of ABURI ON FIRE signature roll was an awe-inspiring experience of its own; I'll leave the surprise to you. I must say, the "fire" added an aroma that elevated the flavors of the salmon, blue fin, and yellowtail toro to another pleasant dimension.

Of course I had to pair all of this with a cocktail. The presentation of the SOUTHSIDE COCKTAIL was certainly elegant. Its flavor was refreshing with its mixture of citrus, cucumber, and mint which gave me an excuse to sip it quite frequently between dishes as a palate cleanser.

I cant forget to mention the timely service; staff were knowledgeable and efficient to say the least.

Set your soy sauce aside; you won't need it!

I was certainly proud to have taken my guests from Ireland to this new spot.

I will definitely be back to try other dishes. Looking forward to happy hour!

I recently visited Aburi for a girls night and let me tell you, it was a real treat. The fish cuts they served were seriously top-notch, so fresh and flavorful. And what's more, the place had this adorable vibe that just made the whole experience even better. It felt cozy and inviting, which is always a plus. But what really stood out was the staff. They really knew their stuff when it came to sushi. They recommended some unique rolls and took the time to explain all the little details about each dish. It was clear they were super knowledgeable and passionate about what they were serving. All in all, if you're into amazing sushi, a cute setting, and staff who really care about the food, this place is definitely worth a visit.

First impression upon entry: stunning! Just so chic and sexy. Would be perfect for a date night or girls night for dinner or even for a business meeting over lunch. Whether you love sashimi or rather stick to the cooked stuff, there is something for everybody here. The wagyu & potato (melts in your mouth!), peppered calamari, Brussel sprouts, Mardi Gras roll, bread pudding, and mango panna cotta were some of my favorite items. Staff was also very hospitable and kind. Can’t wait to return and try more from their vast menu!

Exactly the kind of sushi spot that Houston was missing! A modern and sleek yet cozy ambiance with high quality sushi, unique rolls and well balanced cocktails. What a beautiful new spot! We were invited to their soft opening and I can’t wait for them to open and try again!
The food and drinks were perfectly amazing! The atmosphere is stunning. Full bar area, sushi bar and spacious dining area. Service was on point. Our server even gave us recommendations and she had some amazing choices.
