Sushi Sakura is a premier revolving sushi bar in Texas.
Had high hopes for this place but was ultimately disappointed. We came in on a Saturday afternoon looking for a fun dining experience and when we stepped inside the vibe felt like it would be good. As soon as we came in we were seated at the bar since it was just two of us. When we saw that the booths were all empty except for one we asked if we could sit there so we could have a more intimate dining experience but they shook their heads and told us that it’s only for parties of 6. We asked one more time and asked if they had incoming reservations they were expecting but they just said no. We were given plastic cups for drinks, and small plastic containers with wasabi and pickled ginger. The revolving sushi is color coded by the plates with different plates indicating different prices, and the rolls are similar to the ones in the picture but they aren’t labeled so it can sometimes be difficult trying to figure out what you’re picking up. We decided to get one of the specialty rolls and it was good. Looking at other reviews now it seems like service has been a consistent issue here, it was difficult getting any sort of attention from the waitress and she barely came to check on us. I’d say this is more of a fun casual dare-I-say “fast food” kinda sushi place, but not worth coming to for a lunch/dinner date. If it wasn’t for the decent roll we had I would’ve left it at one star because the service really was poor. I could’ve understood if they were expecting a lunch rush but literally no one else came in after we did aside from one person eating alone at the bar.

This is an OK place for sushi. Some of the circulating pieces were not fresh. During my visit it was especially challenging get server's attention, as I literally had to wave her down after seeing her walk by 3 or 4 times. The owner was attentive and asked if we needed anything right away. Selection seems to be great and it could be a fun place for a large company.

Just terrible. No service whatsoever. Server never came by the table to take our order. We had to guess what the rolls were on the belt with the menu they gave us. It’s kind of like playing a matching game except with sushi rolls. It’s a no for me. Never coming back for sure.

Came here for a fun conveyor sushi experience but the whole thing was a mess. The conveyor was going but mostly empty, the plates going around have no labels so you have to ask the servers what each items are, ended up just having to order the items we wanted directly. The food itself was just okay; one of my rolls had a rock hard avocado.

When you spend $14.61 on lunch, it should be filling. Not in this case had half of a chicken cutlet, and the rice should have been Uncle Roger's day old fried recipe. Soup tasted as if it came from campbells soup can. Great packaging for to go orders.

Happened upon a wonderful sushi bar while waiting for services at the neighboring Vet Hospital, was within walking distance. And, super close to Ikea if you’re hungry after shopping! Cute place for a date-night or grabbing a quick bite to eat while out and about.

This is a revolving sushi joint and the revolving belt “has not worked for a while”. Customers are expected to walk around the restaurant, each over other customers to get the sushi they want. Nothing seemed fresh.

Hello,
We arrived with my friend to this place on Friday night. Just wanted to sit on a place to talk and get a little Asian food.
I will go ahead and write the experience that I had here below.
FAKE CONVEYOR BELT
The conveyor belt is moving and you can see there is fake samples of foods on it. But whatever you order will arrive to you by SERVER. So if you go there to have a conveyer belt sushi experience I am sorry you will not.
LOW FOOD QUALITY
If you have ever went to Sumo sushi or Sushi Masa and you think you can rate them 7/10
This place will be 3/10.
The vegetable tempura was not done well. The sweet potato was not well fried.
Tried many different sushi, there was a lack of taste in the products they have used.
They put wasabi and ginger in small cups where you can taste that the wasabi is cheap.
DISRESPECTFUL SERVER
The receipt total was $33.02. Even though I was not satisfied with the food I wanted to make it 35 so I applied 2 dollar tip.
The SERVER LADY LAUGHED LOUDLY and said “2 DOLLAR???!!”
I said yes ma’am 😒
I learned from my mistake will never give any tip if someone treats me like this.
If you want to have some good time and food avoid this place.
Life is hard enough and going to this restaurant will make it harder.
Best,

Came here thinking it was similar to Kura revolving shushi place, not even close! The server was very rude and hostile. Constantly coming to count our plates, not even being discreet, definitely made us feel weird and uncomfortable. At one point she reminded us that we had order fried rice (which was terrible btw) I guess in attempt to stop us from grabbing more plates from the bar. We had to leave bc the server kept making us feel uncomfortable. Definitely not recommend, Kura revolving sushi is way better and staff is way nicer and lets you enjoy your food!

Food was decent, usual revolving sushi,
Don't order the pork ramen very underwhelming but it is a sushi place
Still have never gotten a decent ramen at any revolving sushi
Very nice staff but seemed to be understaffed, drink order never came even though we reminded them twice
My only real complaint was that there ac seemed to not be working properly so I was sweating buckets. Hope they put up a sign stating that it will be hot inside the restaurant
Overall would be back as long as it's cold inside

First impressions mean a lot, and this conveyor belt-style sushi location didn't make a good one. We had a very absent waiter, leaving us with the conveyor belt options only most of the time and the variety was minimal. Mostly pricier plates only on the belt, everything else had to be ordered through the waiter, if she came to you. You only had a paper with photos of the food to depend on so it was hard to see or understand what some of the options were. Plate prices were not worth it for some of the higher-value items. The food DID taste good - but that is really the only win here.

Horrible service. Arrived at 8:15 no server came to get my family drinks. Then was told they closed at 9:30 on a Saturday. I was told I should have came in the morning, thats when more food is made, everything has been thrown away after waiting on them since we were seated. Trash people and a trash place.

The pictures show a full conveyor belt - in practice it was mostly empty, with a few dishes that nobody wanted circulating perpetually. We only took some seaweed salads. Then we decided to order, and it took 15 minutes for a simple soup to arrive. Thoroughly disappointed - big difference between what is suggested and reality

Service is terrible. We have frequented this restaurant for years because my teens like the novelty of the conveyer belt, but this is likely my last visit. The happy hour policy is complete rubbish. We didn’t come in for happy hour, but decided to order off the happy hour menu when it was offered. The waitress acted like she was offended by my request for booth seating for a family. She rudely tossed the wasabi/ginger on the table. The waitress stood at the front of the restaurant doing nothing and waited until two minutes before happy hour was over. Then she came over to “take the order” and conveniently waited until her register timed out for happy hour prices. Which would be fine, except she counted the plates on our table and every other table and entered those items into her “timed out” register. The sushi is mediocre. The service is terrible. There are a lot of other sushi options in Houston.

Food is great every time! I always get the sriracha salmon and garlic yellowtail. The revolving sushi train is hit or miss with having lots of options, but you can always order from the menu! My waiter Cici was super sweet and attentive. She didn’t mind when my friend and I wanted to keep ordering more sushi lol thank you Cici!

Went on Saturday and the variety on the rotating bar was not good. lots of desserts and looks like the few options they had been there a while. Therefore the taste was off. the portions in the sushi seemed off. If you asked for something specific, they would bring it. That was nice but of the point of the rotating sushi bar. We spent too much for what we got.

This used to be my husband and I favorite spot but it’s gone downhill at the end of 2022. I believe they have a new owner/management now and they are not taking care of this establishment in aspects of food and service.
We decided to give this restaurant another shot and unfortunately, we experienced the worst service ever. First of all, the lady server we had was so rude. She didn’t care to set our table right and threw the wasabi & ginger pods carelessly. We were forced to have to look for her in this small restaurant to get her attention. Multiple times. On top of it all, she refilled the soy sauce Jar on our table while we were still eating! I worked in the restaurant before and I know this action are for closing duties (things you do when you’re getting ready to close). We were there at 7:30PM on a Sunday- a whole 2 hours before they close.
The food was OK. We don’t expect this place to be the greatest, we get it. However, the biggest disappointment was my husband ordering yellow tail jalapeño sashimi and it was cut sooo thick! It was at least half an inch in thickness. It wasn’t properly cut to its appropriate size. It was crooked! Who cuts crooked sashimi? 😭 We could see fish skin also.
Back to the server, the only time this server smiled at us was when we paid our tab and left her a tip. We’re not the type to NOT leave any tip. We just won’t come back here anymore.
Hoping the OWNER sees this review and truly considers to train his/her staff better.

Caveat-we went there for lunch on a Sunday. About 1/3 of the menu was actually on the belt. Also we were there well over an hour and I never saw things get removed from the belt. No refrigeration on the belt. Waitress barely came to the table and checked on us from the other side of the belt. Nothing tasted weird but it was a little sketch. Bathroom was clean.

Food was good an fresh. We went directly after opening so did have order quiet a few items from the menu in order to get them but it was worth it. Server was very inattentive. She needed to be waved down each time we needed her and just hovered around the order station by the computer specifically. She did not walk around to check on us often, so much so we didn't get refills on our drinks and it took us 15 minutes to get our check

I had high hopes with 4.x review before visiting this restaurant. I’ve had many experiences with conveyer belt / revolving sushi and wanted to give this one a try.
Unfortunately on the day I visited, the experience was one of the worst I’ve had.
Food: food was ok. Not bad but not really impressive. The sushi on the belt were pretty much a bunch of rolls. Honestly less than 10 selection. Yes you can order, which leads me to service.
Service was horrible. Food was SLOW and the server was rude. I followed up one time on the slow food and was immediately rudely argued that they are working on it and they had one chef bla bla bla.
Never in years had I’ve seen a server this rude. Backing up a bit, 4 of us were seated with 2 sets of chopsticks and napkins. That should have been a red flag.
Overall. Slow food, rude service. One chef doing god knows what. Ok restaurant but weird dimmed light for a sushi place and didn’t feel comfortable.
Never again.

This in one of my favorite sushi places in Houston. Not only because is an authentic spot, it has character, the plates are small bites full of color and flavor, but also you can beat their happy hour! I had more than 13 plates on a hot date, a Sapporo bear and a great atmosphere!

A very genuinely mid tier experience. Went here for a little date and the food was okay enough. Just not super worth the price point on some of the more expensive dishes. Service was slow and negligent at best. My girlfriend had tried to order 2 plates that weren't currently on rotation and then 25 minutes later we get the wrong dishes and then the server had gotten mad and accusatory towards her for "ordering wrong". Keep in mind there was only about 4 other tables and it was by no means busy or loud. This was more so the cherry on top of an overall underwhelming experience. Next time, I'll be going to Kura's.

I read the reviews before going and was so excited to take myself out, but was disappointed the whole time!
When I got there, it was practically empty with two other people sitting down. The whole time the conveyer was empty except with some desserts. I stayed for 1.5 hours sitting and waiting, but only had 3 dishes wish isn’t much. I placed an order with a waiter and even then I couldn’t get anyone’s attention. The food didn’t taste that fresh compared to other sushi conveyer spots that I’ve been to.
I’m sure they were trying their best but I saw people coming and going because they couldn’t keep up. No one even came to apologize for the delay/wait, so I won’t be going back.

The food is amazingly delicious and cheap! It comes out on this conveyer belt or you could offer off the menu. While I was there I had a like 4 plates from the belt, two plates of sushi and a bowl of fried rice off the menu for two people and it all came out to less than $100!

Lovely, friendly people…unfortunately the green leaves traditionally served with sushi were totally withered, the sushi was obviously pre-frozen fish, and the 2 giant toilet paper rolls in the ladies bathroom were both completely empty. Never again!

The quality of the food is standard to most sushi places, but with a conveyor belt for novelty. Options are pretty limited on the belt, mostly rolls, very little nigiri.
I went in on a Sunday during off-hours and there was only one waitress taking/serving everyone's orders. this made service extremely slow. The waitress skipped me a couple times to wait other tables and I wasn't able to put in orders like the other tables were. The waitress also forgot one of my dishes and ended up charging me for it. Never got a water refill, and I ended up waiting 15 minutes for the check and had to ask again for it. Not sure if this was the completely waitress' fault because they obviously were understaffed but I probably won't return. I saw 2 other tables that got there AFTER me get their checks and left before I got mine.

Have been here 7-8 times, and always had a good meal at a great price, especially during happy hour. However almost always have the same server, a younger lady, who never smiles, is short, rude, and generally unfriendly. That usually doesn't bother me, and we always leave about %20 tip of course. Except for tonight, I recently had my card phished and shut down, the partner had forgot hers. So we ask to use apple pay, they dont have it available, so we scrounge up every dollar and dime in our wallets to perfectly pay the tab in cash. This server looks at us, goes "wow, so much change..... no tip?" which we respond yes to, and apologize, but all we receive is a dirty look and she walks away to never return.
I would give 0 stars for the service of the place, but one of the times we came in we had a nice lady who was a bit older with amazing service.

I've been coming here for a few years now, and as of late the place hasn't been the same since Grandpa Chief left the center stage. The first review I gave was 5 stars, unfortunately I have to take a couple back. The service is still spectacular, nice people and atmosphere. What has changed is the taste of the food, and the time it takes to receive it or restock the belt. Been there on busy and not so busy days and I've noticed the same results. Hopefully they get a hold of things again and get back to how it used to be, because I really love this spot.

Cleanliness:A

Parking: plenty and free
This is a great little revolving sushi place. The staff is always so friendly and eager to please but can get very busy. All of their plates have covers and the dining area is kept clean. It's already a great value but if you go for happy hour it's even better! Half off beer and $2.75 anything on the revolving belt!! They typically only have rolls and desserts for happy hour. They still serve everything else but you have to order it and pay full price.

It is a little pricey for each plate, but the quality of the sushi makes up for it. We were quickly unimpressed with the offerings circulating around the conveyer belt, so we placed in a few orders through our server. The calamari was, in a word, simply divine, and the beef udon tasted slightly sweet. The only fault we could find in this restaurant was the depressing blue lighting in the booths.

For this place, it is very important to go during normal meal hours. If it is during a busy time, the sushi train will be full and moving. That makes it fun. If it is off hours, they do not put much fish out and you just order off the menu. They are always a little short staffed

This was my first time coming to Sushi Sakura, but not my first time to a moving sushi bar. I'll start with the things I liked about it; parking is very generous, and we were seated immediately upon walking in, despite not having reservations. There was just more, off about this place than was great if I'm being honest. The food goes by on a conveyor belt and is barely labeled at all on what it contains or even what some of it's called. I found that to be unusual and confusing, almost as much as the seating design. Most moving sushi bars will have seats that face the conveyor belt for easy access for each guest, but instead, here there is a ton of booths. This means if there are more than 2 of you, there's going to be alot of "what is that one? Can you pass me that plate, that one" etc if you're not seated directed next to the belt. The food itself was okay, the rice was a bit on the dry side, the fish cuts were in the middle to lower middle ends of cuts, which is to be expected for the price. Each individual plate runs about $3-6 each if I remember correctly, which is somewhat of an acceptable price range considering the quality and quantity of the food. If you're looking for a fairly priced moving sushi bar experience, this place is alright. But if you're looking for the essential moving sushi bar experience, you'll have to keep looking. This is a place I would come to more for convenience more than anything else. It's not bad, but not great either.

I went during happy hour. 2.70$/plate. Service was slow. Everyone was complaining. Nearly no sushi on the conveyor. I ordered with waiter 3 plates for sushi. No reason why not think the price will change since its the same stuff that should be on the conveyor. Get this. He charges me full price for it and does not even tell me before. Not only that I wanted to order more and service was so slow that I could not even do that. Worse service ever. Dont come here.
Edit: I was regular customer. On average spending 60-80$/month here at least. But now I am going to Sushi Pop for affordable and good sushi. HEB has some good sushi too. For higher end sushi there are better places out there. Save your money

A very small revolving sushi bar, with no way to order anything specific off the menu without flagging down one of the waitstaff, which aren't the most attentive.
The sushi itself that was available on the bar belt was good though.

Sadly the other reviews that say not to come after 8pm are right. We got here around 7:40 and in the 25 minutes we were here, no new plates were put out and we only had 2 plates each. My boyfriend also asked for a Sapporo and was brought an Asahi, which is fine, but not quite what he ordered. The staff were on their phones most of the time as well and not the most attentive. We ended up leaving as we could see no new plates were going to be made and ate somewhere else. I’ve come here before and it was great, but it was around 6 or so and about a year ago. Hopefully they improve as I always enjoyed this place. This visit was a real bummer.

DO NOT GO HERE AFTER 8PM. They stop putting plates out on the revolving bar. I have been here for 1 hour and have had 1 plate. They're so short staffed orders get lost. The first two times we came here was great but usually around 6. They had a full bar and not crowded. Here it is a little after 9pm and it's lousy.

The service and food were pretty good. My only issues are...I wish the menu told me the ingredients of rolls. You only get a picture. The same with items on the conveyor which had no name or description. What I did try was very good and the service was good as well. The place is also clean and well kept with ample parking.

The interior is pretty, with bar seating as well as some booths. Also, there are a couple high chairs available for the little babies that need one.
To be honest, I did not eat that much sushi so I cannot really form a fair opinion, but there is a wide variety to choose from, which is fun.
The staff is friendly, the food presentation is also quite pretty, and the dessert was really good.
If you’re on the fence about grabbing one of those sweets rotating around the belt, I recommend you grab one!

Porciones muy muy muy pequeñas, precio muy muy muy caro, me queme con el volcano roll lo sirvieron extremadamente caliente

We just moved to the area and were searching for a sushi spot. We came here on a whim and we both fell in love. The cream puffs were phenomenal, the gyoza was super yummy, and the sushi was so fresh. We made a list of our favorites and will definitely be back!

Used to be a great place to eat.. Now the selection on the conveyor belt is hot garbage and completely understaffed. Has been this way the last 3 times I've gone, guess its time to find a new spot.

Coworker and I had lunch today. The conveyor belt style is a fun and festive way to have sushi. We did have a little bit of sake to make the afternoon fun. #JoeFoodTour #HowdyFromHouston #ThePropertyJoes
Brought a member of our business group to experience the awesome and whimsical dining experience. Love the blue light ;-)

Nice place different like the conveyor belt! Hawaiian was the best thing we ate bread balls not that great don't recommend. We got something from each color plate good servings. Recommend better dessert options and the music did not go with the atmosphere for my date night at a sushi restaurant. But over all good experience and the Itamaes (guys making the sushi rolls) where nice !

Cheap quality but really good price.

The main attraction, the conveyor belt, was disappointing. There were hardly any plates available, everything had to be ordered a la carte. That was, like, the whole point of going. Bummed.

They werre hardly any plates in the band. We were there for an hour just waiting to get a different flavor.

Good place to eat for raw and a few cooked dishes. Beware that with every plate it adds up.

Walked in and walked out. Gross place from the moment you walk in.

I don't know how this place has so many stars. So many people walked out. There was literally 2 sashimi plates going around the conveyer so seeing nothing was on it we went ahead and just ordered from the waiter. We only got half the order and it took an hour. It was a horrible experience.

Brought my best friend here for the first time and we absolutely loved it! Will definitely make this one of our hang out spots. The food is delicious and everything is fresh from the water to the rice. Will be back.

My preferred sushi place

So... our viist was disappointing. My boyfriend and I went in at about 8:30 for conveyor belt sushi and literally all of what was available on the conveyor belt, for the 30 minutes we stayed waiting for the chefs to make SOMETHING new (there was nothing new), was: California rolls galore (with the avocado turning brown), shrimp roll after shrimp roll after shrimp roll (Im allergic so I couldn't grab any of those), one little salmon roll, an abundance of tiny flat cupcakes with lazy whipped cream, some poorly cut cake, seaweed salad that was not fresh, and squid salad that looked rather ill. Most of the conveyor belt menu was simply not there.
Our server was really lovely, and was quick to help us get our drinks and the check as soon as we asked for it, but when you go to a restaurant and the food is basically a non-effort there's only so much a good waiter can do.

honestly i love sushi and always go to kura, so i thought i would try this place out. the place is beautiful but the food is bland. i sat and waited maybe 10 minutes until someone came up to ask if my table wanted drinks. i order some rice and the rice was way to salty. every roll we got tasted like nothing. i ordered calamari and it was literally not seasoned or anything and tasted like straight oil. very very disappointing. do better.

Disappointed! Do not order sashimi here.
I just had dinner here and it’s a Saturday evening, but 1) they only have like 10 different kinds of sushi on the conveyor unlike what showed on the menu. 2) I ordered 3 types of sashimi (escalor, black pepper tuna, octopus) and it was not fresh. They were all bad and stank that I tried to swallow them down without chewing. 3) Would rather spend a lot less money on a fast food restaurants over spending a $100 on dinner that I probably will have food poisoning tonight.

It is hit or miss. Some of the rolls are great. If you go after happy hour you can expect to only fine select rolls for about an hour after it ends.

It was the first time in a sushi place in this style, it seemed very cool to me, so you can choose from your view and enjoy the one you like the most.

This place is a joke. It’s a 2 person operation and overwhelmed. If you want to wait 45 mins to get the popular dishes, then this is your place. It is cheap but there’s a reason for why it’s cheap.

Great value sushi, cosy atmosphere and friendly staff!

Had dinner through the menu instead of the rolling dishes. Ordered some of their specialty rolls. Tasted alright. Jasmine tea was good.

Not the best quality and takes very long. Go early if you want the conveyor belt experience
