Food below average and small amount for pricing. Bland flavors.

Arrived and was told it would be a 20min wait. Waited 40 min to be seated. Then waited 40 min more after being seated and was asked if 2 more people could join. Waited another 45 min while watching 2 new people catch up with their ordering and eating salad/soup before cook showed up to commence with cooking.

With such a delay is it fair to be automatically charged 20% when waited over 2hrs just for cooking to start?

It makes no sense to charge 20% for larger parties at these places ..... as they prep for large number of people per cooking table/session and it makes no difference if its 1 or 9 people at a table because they setup and will merge small groups into larger groups. So you can't say it takes more timing and organizing for larger parties, when each table is forced to sit with large groups! All this is a money grab!

Food below average and small amount for pricing. Steak was overcooked and plated wrong, and cook had asked if okay to remove from one plate to another.....what if we said no???

Knowing the timing and delays, the restaurant should not have even asked if two new customers could sit down, especially knowing the open spaces were at the back end of the table with limited space. As there was not enough space under table we Injured knees when moving chairs inward to allow 2 new customers get around our chairs to sit down.

First, adding the two people did not delay the time for your chef to come out [....].
Secondly, gratuity is added for parties of 6 or more as a protection for myself, not because of extra planning / organization.
Thirdly, as for spacing and [......(injury)....] sorry to hear [.....] I will let management know so that we can improve our seating.

so if #1 true, the time being seated would be 1.5hours of waiting at seat? No hibachi place has ever taken that long once seated. If that was the case, they should have clearly told us wait time will be 45min and show starting 90min after that! Waiter should have also informed when asking the wait will not be impacted.

#2 "protection"? Never heard of that. Its always been expalined around organization and timing of food for all party at same time. Waiter clearly saying I need to protect my income and average 20% in tips across 6+ people to make my job worth it, irrelevant if good service and good food!

#3 they know spacing, they know seating arrangements. They should have told us exactly where to sit so they can have the extras in front so no one has to move around. Big fail here!

Will not be back. We ate in the dining room with appetizers and sushi. The music was loud and we were basically alone. The food was simply not authentic. The tempura breading was way too thick. The shrimp tempura was mainly breaded shrimp and rice. No crab meat. There are better options.

Not pleased at all with visit. They had a sign out front about all you can eat...only not valid the day we went. I have no idea why it was out then...no days were on it. We were going to do hibachi instead. Apparently the air was not working in that area...it was insaney hot. Went to restaurant part instead...it was marginally cooler. The service was awful. Had to ask multiple times for everything. It wasn't busy so not sure what the issue was. The food tasted good but vegetables were sparce and not hot. We will not be back.

We had a crazy experience here. On 7/16/2024 my wife and I were just looking around for a place that had sea scallops on the menu. We were going to order Door Dash, but the menu was hard to understand so we decided to go in person. At the door the hostess informed us that there was no wait for hibachi or their regular dining room, but that the power had gone out and the AC was not working. It was maybe 7pm and still in the high 90s outside. The inside felt warm, humid, and there was condensation on the floor. We were seated at the Hibachi table, and I ordered a Blue Hawaiian. It was wonderful. I felt like I was on vacation eating at some foreign place that didn’t have AC. The Hibachi chef came over and prepared for my wife rice, vegetables, chicken and sea scallops. She said they were great. I had filet minion and shrimp with fried rice. I ate every last piece. We had the American Dream roll as an appetizer, also delicious. My only one complaint was the salad had way too much dressing on it. Otherwise, even through the chaos of the lights flickering on and off and no air conditioning, I thought it was a great experience. I checked here on Google to see if there were any other reviews that mentioned the power going out, and I couldn’t find any so it must be true what the server told me, that they had never had this happen before.

The wait for the hibachi chef was horrible there was only 1 hibachi chef present and for multiple people at once have to wait 1 hour+ for the food. I'd found dead insects in my food or near the hibachi grill, I also had a nasty stain on my plate like the people didnt wash it at all these signs just tells me this place has horrible sanitation and puts health hazards on the high 🤢🤢. Very disappointed

Delicious hibachi dinner with all the fun you expect from this dinner and a show. The ribeye was super tender and melted in my mouth. The scallops also were perfectly cooked and delicious. The pricing for two types of meat is very reasonable compared to the single meat price. Will definitely be back again sometime. Wait with a reservation was just long enough to order cocktails at the bar.

The chef was fun but the rice was dry, all the food tasted the same (garlic and soy sauce). We all got something different yet all tasted the same. One person ordered the large shrimp and it came out with all the other shrimp and not large at all. The floor was damp and there were caution signs everywhere. This did not look to be an acute issue. There was soft serve available for everyone next to the door to exit, this was sour and everyone ended up throwing it out. Including the family that left just before us. Very disappointed. Years ago this was my favorite hibachi in the area.

Came for a date night planning to drop $150-$200 & then come back with our 4 kids next week.

Was seated in a booth and waited 9 mins w/o anyone acknowledging us - hosts walking all over the place just standing arnd talking to each other.

We didn’t get silverware, water, nothing… (?)

Upon us walking out, we told the hostess by the door “there’s a reason you barely barely have a 4 star google review”. She smiled very sarcastically and said “thanks for coming in”. Lol

Their marketing spends $1000s for people like us to notice this place and give it a try, and minimum wage employees run us off with a smile on their face. Lol

Plenty of great places to spend our money within shouting distance. Not sure if anyone in mgmt even cares about honest reviews like this.

Our server from the moment we walked in was absolutely great! She from the moment we walked in to the moment we left she kept us laughing and was just so great ! I didn’t get her name but she was in the closing shift with shorter hair and our hibachi chef was so funny too and he sang Shania Twain for our anniversary! Truly was a very interactive funny pair and they made the experience so great we will definitely be back!

The food is wonderful but the customer service is lacking. No point in making reservations because you’ll still have to wait 30+ minutes and be ignored by the staff. They are all shy and not outgoing. Once we finally were seated we got drinks and the salad/ soup but the chef didn’t come until 45 minutes later.

The place looks nice, but the customer service was terrable, and it took us 45 minutes after our reservation to get seated. The server was not paying attention to any of us and gave most of us the wrong food, and I didn't even get vegetables when I was supposed to. Plus, the chef didn't do any tricks and said little to no words to us. (This might have been because there was a little girl at our table and got scared by the fire.) There was an allergy for shrimp at our table and the chef didn't accommodate for it, it was on the ticket to cook it last and he didn't even read it. While I was here, I saw some good chefs but only a couple, just didn't get very lucky with ours. Overall, the place was not good. It took forever and was way too expensive for what it was worth.

I have eaten here several times, as always, I love the food! But this Christmas, Chef Yoga was especially delightful. His humor, friendliness and smile are wonderful. I have to hand it to him that of all the times I've ate there he is especially skilled with seasoning the food. So tasty I didn't even want to dip the steak or shallots in the sauces. Thanks Chef Yoga. Kristine also made my holiday special. Her sweet sense of humor and she even brought me a Snowman Ballon, at my request. Merry Christmas. Thank you Mt. Fuji Hubachi Steak. This was the worst place i’ve ever been to in a long time. Out of every sushi and hibachi restaurant that i’ve ever been to, this has to be the worst. Me and a group of 11 other people had a reservation for 7 30. We got there and they asked to wait for 20 minutes. We went and asked and they gave the same answer and kept it up for the next hour 15 minutes. After we got seated it took 15 minutes for the server to come and get our order. When he did eventually come it took another 45 minutes to get our food to us. One of my friends didn’t even get the right order and the other had their card swiped 11 times. And not to mention, the food wasn’t good either. This has to be the worst restaurant i’ve ever been to period. Applauds to Mt Fuji Hibachi for making our Hoco dinner absolutely disastrous.

Bill took forever and my friend was billed 11 times for her meal. Wouldn’t recommend ever coming to this restaurant there’s a much better place in lakeside.

We went here for the Hibachi. It came out great. Our chef had a good sense of humor and we didn't even have to wait long after being seated. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 all the way down was the seating. I'm 6'3" and 255 lbs and the chairs are very low to the ground. Other than that, everything else was very good!

WORST service at a restaurant I've ever experienced! The guy that was supposed to seat us answered the phone TWICE after asking how many were with us and then he never came back after the second time and someone else had to seat us after 10mins. THEN after another 30 mins we just left because no one ever came back to take our order. We were the only people in the diningroom everyone was in the Hibachi.

Been a regular customer for years. Used to be pretty good but the place has been going downhill little by little and this past visit was horrendous.
DO not go in the summer time, AC does not work properly and the inside of restaurant is between 85 and 90 degrees. The floor is so dirty and between the smoke, humidity, and extreme temperatures, the floor is like an ice skating rink and is actually very dangerous for anybody but extremely hazardous to any senior person. Sometimes appetizers to entrees are very rushed as they are trying to turn over tables very quickly. Last time, our apps, salads, and soups came out after our hibachi dinner was cooked. When I complained, they told me to come back and they will give me a free cake. They would need to pay me a lot of money to eat in those conditions and I would still say no. Best of luck eating here until they get some new management, care more about the customer's experience and invest in infrastructure like A?C.

We went last night and had the hibachi dinner. Our Chef (Sam) was the best!!! He sang for us so Mahony iconic songs! He was Hilarious! He was so kind! The servers were so kind and quick as well! I had the angus ribeye with extra fried rice (the meat was insanely tender and good, and the fried rice was Amazing!!) It was my mom's birthday and she had the Best time! 10/10 would highly recommend and will definitely come again!! Thank you Sam for making it a wonderful night!

Getting a chef took awhile, I was starting to think that they only had one in the building. We finally got a chef after 45 minutes of waiting. Not really complaining about that because we kept ourselves entertained. The food was good. As we were eating the grill cleaner came and started to clean our grill. A heavy amount of smoke was blown in our faces, to the point other patrons at the table across from us was pointing and talking about it. My 13 yo daughter got the worse of it. I pointed it out to the man and asked him to wait until we leave like they did with the other tables. He responded, "I have to clean the grill." I said that I would take the ride to Benihana's before I eat here again and I would like to speak to a manager. He then stopped and said he would finish cleaning it later and left. I told our server about it and asked for a manager. I watched her go and tell some people, they all looked over to us. I lost my appetite by that time and asked for boxes. Still waiting on a manager, no one ever came. We won't be returning.

Terrible experience last night for Mother’s Day dinner. We initially made a reservation for 5 at 7pm, changed it to 6pm, had the confirmation, but they didn’t have the reservation for 6. It didn’t delay us, but it was the start of the bad experiences. My daughter in law has a gluten allergy, she has been with us numerous times before, this was at least the 5th time we’ve been there with a large group. She told them about her allergies and ordered. We had eaten, they had cleaned the griddle and still no food for her. We kept getting the it’s almost ready. She didn’t get her food until 1:40 min after we ordered. They staff apologized and gave us a 10% discount, that was insulting. Our bill was over $200, insult to that, my daughters scallops were overcooked and rubbery, same with our lobster. The chef was very boring and not engaging which is part of the experience. Terrible experience all around and we will never go back.

Ruined my birthday dinner.
We went for my birthday. My husband made reservations and stated that it was for his wife's birthday. As we ate we witnessed 2 other parties celebrate birthdays. The table across from us was asked what birthday dessert they wanted. When our server asked if we wanted the bill my friends and family told him it was my birthday. His response was "we don't do birthdays" . My best friend and my husband both went to management and asked why they wouldn't offer a birthday dessert to me they had no answer and the server stood there and laughed at them as they talked to management. Management offered nothing. They forced us to pay a 20% tip on the guy who laughed at us wanting to celebrate a birthday. For the price the food was mediocre. The rice had way too much garlic and the cooks were all in masks and we couldn't understand him. The cooks were not engaging or entertaining. The only interaction was throwing raw zucchini.
There is way better Japanese food at Blue Ginger in Denton. For Hiabachi grill I'd say drive the extra distance to go to Benihana. Will not return to this restaurant and do not recommend. Very disappointing

Normally our favorite place to dine. But not today. We’re seated right away despite the prom crowd present. Thought-awesome! Only the young man tried to seat us in the far back corner which again normally wouldn’t of been an issue only this it was. As I am 9 months pregnant and can not easily squeeze behind people and there’s little room to do so anyways. But especially being so pregnant. Was so embarrassed and wound up leaving as I simply could t squeeze around to get to our seats.

When sitting at the grill the food always comes out amazing! However when sitting at the actual tables, I’ve found that you are usually served old rice and the taste is off. Furthermore when coming when the restaurant opens I’ve had experiences where food was under cooked and under seasoned as if the cook was rushed to get off the grill. Otherwise, wonderful restaurant and I’d highly recommend the grilling area for dinner.

They didn't put on any show and put in the wrong order and shut it off with out fixing it. No onion fire nothing. When you go your there for the show.

Been going here for about 6 years now, every Christmas Eve along with birthdays and other times. I’ve seen this place decline dramatically over the years, they put very little in to upkeep the decor. Portions have gotten smaller and service is very rushed. I understand Christmas Eve is a busy night but this year was like a race for the chef, he was sloppy and flinging rice everywhere. Probably gonna have to start looking for a new place from now on.

Great Hibachi, very cool setup. The food is good. One thing to note, each grill is in its own glass walled cubbie. nice to contain noise, but it also traps heat. It can get a little warm.

With limited sushi options, being shoved elbow to elbow with strangers with plenty of room elsewhere making for an uncomfortable experience it is beyond me that this place has a 4 star rating. We never saw the waitstaff after they brought out the soup and salad. Never received refills and the empty bowls cluttered the limited table area. With the only people in the restaurant the whole time being two hibachi tables half full I expected better. The food was decent. I’m not sure why they ask how you want something cooked if they are just going to burn it but oh well. The food is not worth the prices and neither was the atmosphere. I’d look elsewhere before visiting here.

It was my first time trying hibachi and it was honestly a good experience. We had a party of 8 for me and my friends for a birthday. We had a reservation at 7:00pm but we didn’t get there till 7:20 and we still had to wait for another friend till 8pm. They took that very professionally and weren’t bothered by how late we were. They still seated us and everything went well. A server of ours went out of his way to get plates and cut the cake for us, he even sang happy birthday too lol his name was Mitchell I believe so shout out to him but overall a good experience I would go again.

My family of 5 was seated with another family of 4 and there wasnt room to even pull the chairs out let alone sit. Apparently the number of chairs around the grill is more important than a dining experience at $20-$30 a plate. The grill was in what i could only describe as a cubicle of glass that held all the heat from the grill. It was over 100 degrees outside and just as warm by the grill inside. We asked to move to a grill we fit better at and they said no. So we left.

Service very slow, restuarant was unbelievably hot before any hibachi was ever used. I ordered shrimp tempura and got 2 frozen breadcrumb shrimp and 4 pieces of fried vegetables. Everyone in my group had their hibachi steak, shrimp, chicken & scallops before mine came... I asked for my food to served with the rest of the group.

The wife and I had a great time. The hibachi chef was spectacular and the food was just as great. The entire staff makes you feel like family and at home.
All of the chefs where great with the kids in the restaurant.

First time being there. Tried to do Hibachi but the table was WAAAAY too crowded. When we asked to be put in the restaurant area, they ignored us and continued to try to make us sit at another hibachi. The seats are too close together in the Hibachi, very uncomfortable. Both me and my friend refused to sit down and asked AGAIN to just go to the restaurant area. After that, no one would help us and they acted really weird about it so we decided to just go sit ourselves at a booth. No one bothered to try to give service after. Ended up leaving- went to a better restaurant with better service. Won't be returning or trying again. Though I don't think it was intentional per say, the waiters were abrupt, insensitive, and didn't listen. Just a bad vibe all around. Very weird atmosphere.

I had the Hibachi and I was there along with some other people. My portions were extremely small. The cook gave the majority of the food to the family that was sitting next to me. He even gave their kids larger portions than me. I spent $60 for what I could have got at the CHINESE BUFFET for $11.99. My food didn't even cover my plate and the kids sitting next to me had their plates piled high and they took home to go boxes. I wouldn't recommend this place. From what I hear it was a lot better place to eat and larger portions pre covid.

I woke up this morning to find a fraudulent charge from this place 3/17/22 looks like the charge was made between 2pm and 7pm of the manager could reach out to me with the receipt that shows I paid for food there yesterday that would help so customers beware the wait staff is also running peoples debit cards with out the persons ever visiting the establishment so management needs to pull the receipt with debit card ending in 8748 and see why the server ran a card for someone that was not me and see if someone needs to be looking for a new job.

I've lived in Highland Village for almost 5 years and haven't been to Mt. Fuji yet. My husband made reservations for my birthday on a Tuesday. To sum up our experience not good! First there was no acknowledgement of the reservation or that is was my birthday. The waiter was nice but when we asked if he had sushi before he obviously lied. We are sushi lovers and love trying new kinds of fish. So we decided to try their sushi for two and let the "chef" choose the variety of fish for our order. Disapprovingly, I should have taken a picture. The plate come out with 80% salmon and cut in various ways. If you are a sushi lover this is not the place for you. First and foremost the restaurant area was empty, yes I understand Tuesday isn't a popular time but still. The hibachi area was packed and busy. If you want hibachi, then try this place out but if you are looking for sushi go somewhere else.

Made a reservation for 5 adults. Received a confirmation. Showed up 10+ minutes before. Completely IGNORED. The staff REFUSED to greet or acknowledge people or make eye contact. I would have been good with checking in so my name was on the wait list and waiting. They wouldn't take anyone's name, didn't acknowledge people entering the restaurant. Just nothing. It was the strangest behavior I've ever seen. 10 seconds to ask your name & party size and tell you it's a long wait. They should have taped a note to the door telling people they weren't accepting more patrons for the night. Attempted to talk to the hostess, she would come to the stand take to go orders and then walk over to the bar & make drinks. There was a bartender as well. He followed her behavior. I asked nicely if we could check in and he rebuffed me with a I'll let you know in a minute!?! I only saw 3 drink orders go out of the bar in 20 minutes and 7 people sitting there with the drinks already so wasn't insane busy. Seating wasn't crazy full either...other than the group of 12+ people standing at the entry waiting to be put on the wait list for a table the behavior made no sense. Don't go there on a Saturday unless you want to feel invisible.
