Yen has quickly become one of my favorite places to dine. As a fan of hibachi, I decided to give this spot a try and I was not disappointed. The steak and chicken cooked on the hibachi grill were perfect - each bite was flavorful and tender. The soup and salad were delightful starters, setting the tone for the delicious entree that followed.

The service at Yen was efficient and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant is charming, with multiple rooms that offer a sense of privacy even when it's busy. This thoughtful layout adds to the overall ambiance, making each visit feel cozy and comfortable.

I'm looking forward to returning to Yen soon. It's a gem of a restaurant that has earned a place in my list of go-to spots for great food and a welcoming atmosphere.

I'm so glad we had a gift card because I will never eat at this place on my dime. Let's start with a very sticky table followed by a disgusting paper menu. Water condensation kept dripping from the drinking glasses rolling across the entire table. Not once did the waitress clean the table. Couldn't taste the difference from one fish to another on the sashimi or the rolls. My husband had different rolls. All were way below average. The rolls were too large, couldn't stay close, uneven, and so sloppy. Took home leftovers that we simply trashed.

This was our first visit and we will most likely come back. The chef we had was very friendly and was entertaining. We did see another chef do some more interactive things with other tables but we didn’t mind. Every one has their days. The chef was very informative about telling us when he was going to do something so we could expect the fire or heat etc. The staff was very friendly. The fish at the front with the water feature is a very nice touch and is relaxing to listen to if you have to wait for a table. The prices are reasonable and we did get plenty of food.

The floor was a little sticky throughout the building so that might need a a different cleaning solution or a steam.

We had the steak & lobster with friend rice combo. The miso soup was delicious but did get cold a bit quick. This restaurant is very kid friendly and the menu is very extensive besides choosing hibachi.

This place was gross. The table was so nasty and covered with old food that I had to request someone clean it before they got started. The food was very underwhelming, and the cooks sweat was dripping all over everything he was preparing. I tasted the rice and was so put off by how bland it was, I really didn't want anything else. The sushi my daughter got was old and not fresh by any means. She even said that was horrible as well. $103 I could have spent someplace I actual enjoy. Never again.

This restaurant is a mixed bag. For the most part, it's a great place to eat and take the family out to. The food is very good.

It's really the service here that is a little inconsistent. Sometimes we come here and we get great service, and on some visits it's not the greatest. For example, my wife had a hot plate explode on her, probably from the hot items on it, and the fact that the plate aged and worn, the waitress, instead of getting my wife a new plate and new food, just got a new plate and scooped the exploded food on a new plate for my wife to eat. This actually happened. We had never experienced anything like it.

On the same visit, the chef made me drop an entire expensive scallop when he startled me by loudly and suddenly asking me if I needed sauce. He just said "so sorry" and laughed at me. He didn't even bother cooking me the extra scallop he made me drop.

The drinks, soups, and salads took a really long time to come out on our visit yesterday. We got no discount or reimbursement for the exploded food.

We probably won't be back here. No one here even tried to make our bad experience better.

Went in for dinner with a group o six people on Sunday night at 7:30PM for a friend’s birthday. The place was pretty empty. There were only two other tables. We were promptly seated and our orders were taken. I got up to go to the restroom, but the real reason I got up was to inform the staff that we were celebrating a birthday. I spoke with a young lady and she said she would inform our server. The server came by the table and greeted the birthday boy and asked if he had any food allergies because he was going to send out a special treat after we were done eating dinner. He then came by another time and asked if we wanted it split on to a couple of plates. When we finished our meals the server dropped the check and the birthday was never acknowledged. Way to ruin a special occasion! I just do not understand how our server could forget the occasion we were celebrating especially when he came by the twice to speak to us about it. The hibachi was good, but forgetting to acknowledge our friend’s birthday really turned this into a negative dining experience. We still tipped over 20%. On our way out we noticed our waiter sitting around a table in front with other servers eating. Customers should be a priority! There are too many places and choices to go where you will not feel neglected! You’ve got to do better. The person’s birthday we were celebrating was his family’s first time at your restaurant and after this experience I was embarrassed to have taken him there. We eat out all the time. I am not asking for anything other than for you to address our experience with your staff so something like this does not happen again in the future.

My friends and family spent a very happy night here, the Teppanyaki chef excellent show made my friends and children laugh, seafood and beef and other food is also very fresh and delicious.The Dining atmosphere was quite convivial.best place for family gatherings and invite friends!

I was disappointed. The food was very mid, in my opinion. I love crab puffs BUT the wonton wrappers were hard as a rock on the outside (not just crunchy) and I only took 1 bite. The manager did come out and as what I didn’t like and take them off of my bill with no issue. The calamari was also very mid. The overall restaurant looked nice, however.

This was our first time coming. We came around 9 pm and sat in the dining room. The sushi was fresh and delicious! We ordered steak and chicken hibachi and loved every bite!

English: Came for dinner service. Very friendly staff. My waiter, Sophia, was also a very diligent waiter. (She deserves credit, especially since she’s new!)

I ordered dumplings, fried rice, and fried cheesecake. In my opinion, I liked the dumplings the most, because they were pork dumplings. Had a good flavor with their sauce. For the fried rice, it tasted similar to Chinese fried rice (I got chicken). Good flavor, more so filled me up. The fried cheesecake was ok, not my favorite. The difficulty of this is if you freeze it too hard before frying, then the texture is clumpy inside. The outside had a good crisp and color, which I really enjoyed. But the whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and the cheesecake inside, I didn’t care for too much.

The owner is a very nice woman, and she was able to answer questions about the menu. I asked about what type of beef they use, and they use choice grade. I appreciate her answer and service. Overall: 4.25/5

Pedí los dumplings, arroz frito con pollo, y cheesecake frito. En mi opinión, disfrutaba más los dumplings, con un buen sabor con el puerco. Su salsa de soya también agregaba sabor. Su arroz frito me hacía recordar de arroz frito chino, con un sabor especial. Pollo suficiente, y me llenaba. Con el cheesecake frito, es un truco en sí: si lo congelas antes de freír, adentro queda muy granoso. Tal fue con mi cheesecake, pero afuera el pan tenía un buen color y era crujiente. No me importaba el chocolate, ni la crema chantillí.

La dueña es una mujer muy linda, y podía contestar adecuadamente mis preguntas, como qué clase de carne de res usan (USDA Choice). Gracias por su ayuda y servicio. En general: 4,25/5

They charged me 25 dollars as a mandatory tip for being a group of 3 adults and two children, they say that more than five the tip is mandatory 25%.

We have visited this restaurant multiple times . Not a very high end place , nothing much appealing. But a good neighborhood restaurant. We always tried hibachi they are pretty good and same every time.
Regarding service , it is understood when the restaurant is crowded but nothing exceptional anytime. There is a particular waitress lady sometimes when we visited. She was not friendly, polite and couldn’t understand the requirements. She is greedy with the TIPS . She is not at all satisfied with the how high the tips are and starts demanding. We are small family of 3 and despite how high we give she demands 20% without any polite service. Never I have encountered such behavior in this restaurant with other service staff or in any other restaurant.

We went to Yen to celebrate our grandson's 11th birthday. The family gathered around our own hibachi table. We started with soup and salad and then enjoyed the show put on by Chef Bobby as he prepared our dinners. The mixture of steak, chicken, shrimp, and scallops that we ate along with fried rice and grilled vegetables was delicious and perfectly cooked. Yen was a wonderful place for a family celebration; and we could talk to each other as we watched the chef who was very engaging, especially with the kids.

We have been coming here for years, probably once a month. Apparently there are new portion sizes and the manager argued that it's normal. I have 2 large sons that can eat, and usually have a hard time eating the full steak, shrimp, and double fried rice. Not anymore. Doubt we will be going back.

I am guessing this place has 4.2 stars because the Hibachi on site is good but our to go experience left us very disappointing. We ordered the Hibachi Salmon and the Hibachi shrimp to go. The Salmon was OK but veggies were under cook and the "Fry" rice had no taste at all. I recommend not to order the shrimp at all. I didn't count the shrimps maybe it had the 12 pcs. but they weren't 12 entire shrimp but little pieces of shrimp with tons of unflavored rice. We ended up paying $48.00 dollars for this order. Definitely not worth it.

We’ve been customers for years but after today I will not return! The manger/owner (Asian guy) is so rude, the hostess sat us down in the corner near the stove I asked if we can move since we had a high chair and didn’t want to be that close to the stove, she said yes and moved us to the other corner then the manager comes and tells me NO you sit here or here basically giving me orders and I only had two choices
Excuse me but no you will not give me options and be disrespectful!

He was obviously upset about the fact I had seafood allergies and requested he only cook my steak first aside from everything else. But he said he has to cook the seafood first. Never coming back

I come here all the time but tonight the waiter kept trying to up charge me. I had 2 young girls which I know we barely eat. However I was told oh the veggie hibachi meal is only a cup size which I knew it wasn’t. We all could have shared a meal instead of 3 adult meals. I knew better but didn’t like how the waiter was insisting it wasn’t enough.

First time going in. The decor is weird, the fountain looked like they never cleaned the lime buildup off the walls that is caking up. The table surface was sticky and the salt and pepper looked like it’s never been wiped down. no ambiance music either. Had “normal dining” and we were the only ones having it. Everyone else was having Hibachi dining. I know why now. We ordered spicy salmon, yellowtail scallion and the amigo sushi rolls. For appetizers we had calamari, and edamame. The Amigo roll kept falling apart completely just unwrapping itself and everything falling out of it. The other two basic rolls tasted off. Like the rice was too dry and the fish was off. I’ve had better basic rolls from Kroger’s. Disappointed with their sushi. All the hype must be from the Hibachi side of the restaurant. 👎👎

Chef and food were phenomenal! That's not the only reason I'm not giving one star. We tipped our chef and server cash, but when we were brought the check we were told it was mandatory to tip 18% there as well. No real explanation. Is that really how you guys do business or were we tricked into tipping twice?

Not only is the food excellent, but you will not find yourself waiting for your server when you need something. They are on top of things.
They also have the best take-out portions and containers. Never had any spills or mix-ups.
Just an all-around great restaurant.

Fui al lugar con mi esposo y mi hija y en verdad terrible atención, el lugar bonito, pero la atención derrumba lo bueno que pueda tener la comida. Además, el menú solo hojas blancas con letras, “engrapados”, ninguna imagen sugerente. Mi humilde aporte Deberían tener un menú con fotos full color de sus platos, tambien, contar con personas agradables sirviendo, que incluso sin un menú, muestren a través de su explicación la belleza de su comida. Sería bueno tener personas que hablen español también.

Went to dinner here on a Sunday evening, meal cooked by chef was fine. Our young adult son went to pay all cash for the meal (treating his parents to dinner :)) with cash from his first paycheck the lady server complained about the tip to the point that our son was on the verge of tears. No complaint about the restaurant or food just that insensitive server, shame on you.

Hands down, the best hibachi I've had since we've been in Texas!! Food is great quality, chefs are entertaining and the service was phenomenal!! This is officially our new hibachi spot! Not to mention, the drinks were great, too!!

Unfortunately my experience was not to our liking. The price was average. The food however was not good. The good had absolutely no taste. Rice was not the typical fried rice (which they up charge for) no veggies just rice sauce and some egg. Soup was just water. Minimal veggies with again no flavor. No yakisoba noodles were not the typical pasta either. None of the food had any flavor. I’m sorry but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant until they improve their food. It was all literally tasteless.

*Update* Recent group of 11 at the hibachi including five children from 5 to 15. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. Early Saturday evening service was great and friendly! We ordered 5 appetizers - prompt and delicious. A couple of us split meals and still had leftovers. Everything was actually better than the first time.*

Worst hibachi experience ever! No show at all, came out cooked our food & left. Food was mediocre at best. It was my hubbys birthday & I told the hostess upon seating & there was also no acknowledgment after dinner or birthday presentation. Shared our feedback and dissatisfaction upon leaving, but they didn’t seem to care, or try to make any attempt at showing concern. Won’t be back! If you want a great hibachi experience with good food, Shogun & Atami are the best in the area.

First time ordering from Yen Teppanyaki. I typically do not explore options on door dash if I have never visited the restaurant or recommended. This is my new Hibachi Restaurant. The combination chicken fried rice taste hot and fresh with plenty of meat and vegetables(carrots, onions, and cucumbers). The Hibachi chicken was fresh, hot not salty or over cooked vegetables. Plenty for 1 person. Prices are extremely reasonable.

I came with my sister and we ordered the chicken hibachi the food was flavorless, the chef was literally just trying to do it as fast as he could and you could tell, food flavorless. Next, I ordered a chicken yakatori and it literally came out looking like it was boiled in water for 10 mins and sprayed some teriyaki sauce on top. I sent it back it literally was nauseating. (They never took it off my bill either, the manager argued with me over 6 dollars)
( we were mid eating, chef literally just packed) this lady comes and interrogated me for 10 mins about how you cant sent back a plate of food simply “because you dont like it” her words. Like I mean was so incredibly rude. You are the most embarrassing “manager” ive ever met the disrespect was just disgusting. So was the food and so was that BOILED chicken you expected me to eat????

My mom and son had a horrible experience this evening. My mother is older and my son is six years old and the waiter for their table was very rude, dismissive, and nasty when my mother requested extra napkins and another order of fried rice. He did not apologize and the woman manager was not very helpful. People should not have an attitude when serving people. With a pandemic, you would think they would want customers who frequent every other week. Yikes.

We found this place after a movie. Decided to go in and we love it. Great sushi.

We went here for my daughter's birthday, and it was an awesome experience. The food is absolutely amazing and the chef gave us quite the show. The sushi, salad, soup, steak, lobster, rice and veggies , were all so delicious! 😋 we will definitely go back!

Great service and delicious food. The chef was a true entertainer - very personable and fun. For our Hibachi table, he cooked steak, chicken, salmon, shrimp and scallops! And performed fun egg and fire tricks that enthused both the kids and the adults. Even though the meat and fried rice was the heart of the meal, the salad and soup served as an appetizer was really good - the dressing is our favorite.

Great for any night of the week or special occasions. Each table/grill seats up to 10 people.

If I could give a 0 star review I would. I specifically
asked to not have Bobby the chef and who did we
get. Food was bland, no show, no experience.
Talked with manager Susan and she sat and said
how good his show is, um excuse me did you just
pay 100 for two people to eat and eat the bland
boring food. Hibachi is supposed to be an
experience and fun. We used to go here frequently
unfortunately we will not be back as this is clearie

I was craving fried rice, and I had the Japanese shrimp fried rice from Yen , Yummy !!!! It hit the spot !! In the picture I had already eaten and couple of big bites , hehe 😉

I treated the family to a hibachi dinner here. The staff was great as well as the food and drinks. We had a short wait to get a table and appetizers were brought to us not long after. My family enjoyed it so much, we now have a new favorite spot. Also, the prices were fair when compared to other hibachi restaurants we've been to, not the most expensive but definitely not cheap. I highly recommend Yen Teppanyaki and Sushi.

Went on a Thursday, place was a bit quiet at first but service was good and the chef was awesome! Usually most places like this cook for you and aren't too personable but our chef was very friendly and even made balloon animals for our son. Chef was accommodating to our requests as well. Food turned out just the way we like it. Only real complaint is that some of the sauces were Americanized (sugary) where we prefer the more traditional sauces.

Chef was great, but very poor service from our server. Soup was cold and he never came back to pick up bowls/plates after chef arrived. I literally took them to the cart the bus boy was using to clear off at another grill. I had to go to the front to ask the host where our server was because we hadn’t seen him anywhere in the last 45 min so we could get refills. My husband asked another server for a refill and he said no I’m not your server. We had tried this place about two months ago and it was awesome. My daughter loves hibachi so we thought it would be the perfect spot to celebrate but left super disappointed. We had six little kids so the server walked off with a $60 gratitude tip for doing absolutely nothing. No one even offered an apology after complaining. We will not return.

The hibachi chef was amazing and put on a great show. The server was a little rushed and didn't really pay us any attention, was more of a robot but the hibachi chef more than made up for it.

Review update
Ordered sooner and food was pretty good. “The yens fried rice” doesn’t come with anything in it, didn’t realize that. Edamame is DELICIOUS and sushi is fresh and tasty! All in all pretty good restaurant for delivery.

Horrible front and management. Only think of money and no courtesy to customers.
We called to reserve a hibachi table but said they don’t get reservations but when we arrived there kept us waiting and serve people who came after us just because coming in more numbers and could fill their table.
ended up leaving upset after 30’ waiting and no one care!
Last time, bad experience too. The person who took wrong order and brought us the food we didn’t order!
Never be back. 0 star if we could put!

We had (for the 1st time) the beef tataki, and it was great! I do recommend it for those who like carpaccio, it is lightly seared and thinly sliced beef in a delightful sauce with fresh cilantro. The hibachi was also good, but the tataki was the big hit for us 👍👍

Everything was absolutely delicious and our waiter was so attentive. I wish I remembered his name but he was so awesome. We tried this place for the first time and I’m excited to back. We ordered the appetizer stuffed jalapeños they were soooo perfect. The cowboys roll was a hit as well! Great food and great service!

We had 2 sushi & sashimi plates for dinner. It was the worst sushi & sashimi we have ever had. We left most of them out and did not even ask to-go box. The sashimi was thick but did not have any taste. Sushi rice was not seasoned at all and sushi ginger smelled like a wet rag. If you want to eat the right sushi or sashimi, this is not the place you want. Go get sushi at HEB or Kroger instead. That's far better.

Bad experience this restaurant choose for the customer how much you oath to pay for the tip and then after you pay they asked to pay more tips It is a robbery. In the food they charged over prices than you see in the menu. I won’t back again

This hibachi restaurant is a great place to eat at. They have great quality food and service. I even like the fact that the chefs can cook your order in front of you if you choose to. I will be looking forward to dinning at this place again. If you've never eaten here before, I highly recommend you to try it out.

Please don’t waste your money. Out of the 3 sushi places in the area, this was by far the worst. Our sushi was all broken up and we couldn’t even use the chopsticks. The food just taste bland. Just not a good experience. We won’t be going back!

Wasted 30$ on the campaign roll and the lotus roll for takeout dinner tonight. It was a bowl of bland mush. I'd barely consider it sushi. Go to HEB for better sushi. This was on 4/14/21.

Long has my family thrived in the fields of this wonderful town, undisturbed, and free. But, as with all things, this joy, this peace, this freedom fell to the ever-eroding tides of time. As the Broccoli Kingdoms and Cucumber Inquisition encroached further and further upon our soil, we were driven into our last remaining bastion: a humble estate, hardly fit to contain our family. At the gates, their armies stood vigilantly, eager to watch us sweat over the decision to surrender, or starve.
I had asked this humble establishment for rations, with the exclusion of the symbols of our most despised of enemies, as our family is so traumatized by the sight of them that it drives them further into starvation. And yet, this request was ignored, perhaps because they are allied with those who wish to see us starve. I am appalled.

This is my wife’s favorite hibachi restaurant for her birthday as well as where we take family when then are in town. We have always gotten the hibachi dinners and nothing else but have never had a negative aspect on any visit.

Each time we have been the food has been spot on, soup and salad to start, the wife and kids get the chicken hibachi meals with fried rice and I get the steak and scallops dinner.

The chefs are amazing, entertaining and make an effort to get to know the table as well as always make the entertainment age appropriate and just fun filled with laughs.

This restaurant is a mixed bag. For the most part, it's a great place to eat and take the family out to. The food is very good.

It's really the service here that is a little inconsistent. Sometimes we come here and we get great service, and on some visits it's not the greatest. For example, my wife had a hot plate explode on her, probably from the hot items on it, and the fact that the plate aged and worn, the waitress, instead of getting my wife a new plate and new food, just got a new plate and scooped the exploded food on a new plate for my wife to eat. This actually happened. We had never experienced anything like it.

On the same visit, the chef made me drop an entire expensive scallop when he startled me by loudly and suddenly asking me if I needed sauce. He just said "so sorry" and laughed at me. He didn't even bother cooking me the extra scallop he made me drop.

The drinks, soups, and salads took a really long time to come out on our visit yesterday. We got no discount or reimbursement for the exploded food.

We probably won't be back here. No one here even tried to make our bad experience better.

It's an experience for sure! Although I wanted to do hibachi I couldn't because I was taking myself out on a date and there has to be 2 or more it was okay. I ordered way too much food 😂 the bento box was a fun treat.
