19 course meal was amazing. Sushi was delicious. Service was wonderful and the chefs were very friendly. I would recommend everyone to eat at Shoyo.

Sushi Experience №2

We recently dined at Shoyo with high expectations, given its reputation and price point. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several ways.

Compared to similar omakase experiences, such as The Sushi Bar, the courses lacked innovation and variety. The menu seemed overly reliant on one ingredient—ponzu sauce—which made many dishes taste similar. The first salmon course, in particular, was dry and lacked flavor, setting a disappointing tone for the rest of the meal. Additionally, one of the clam dishes contained sand. While I understand this can occasionally happen, it’s not something I would expect from a high-end restaurant. I only like 2/18 courses

The chef himself came across as a bit too proud, which made the overall dining experience less enjoyable. While the chef’s enthusiasm was evident, we felt the atmosphere could benefit from more humility and warmth to match the intimate setting. That said, I want to commend the rest of the staff for their professionalism and politeness—they were attentive and did their best to make the evening pleasant.

Excellent omakase place in Texas. We were a bit late due to rain/traffic but they were very nice enough to accommodate us and served us the entire menu with the rest of restaurant party. Every course was delicious - fresh quality fish and for someone who normally does not eat sweets, the dessert was surprisingly one of my favorites! Definitely worth the price. You pay when making your reservation but you can order drinks at the place, which of course is extra. The staff is very professional and attentive. They truly try to make it your best experience. Due to the location of the restaurant, parking can sometimes be difficult so I recommend getting there a bit early.

A phenomenal culinary experience with incredible service. This was our second visit to SHOYO and each time it’s a new experience. We love the small intimate atmosphere and how each course is prepared with such great attention. Our chef, Jun, was thoughtful and friendly. Our server even made note that my husband and I were not drinking and gave us a non alcoholic shot to take at the end of the night- we really thought that was such a nice touch. We are so glad we elected to visit SHOYO, once again.

Sushi Experience №5

The food was absolutely delicious, and nearly every dish was executed to perfection. We had the pleasure of being served by Chef Jimmy, whose expertise and passion for his craft were evident throughout the meal.

The toro and Chilean seabass stood out as the most memorable dishes for me. The toro was rich, buttery, and practically melted in my mouth. The addition of truffle enhanced its flavor beautifully. The Chilean seabass was equally impressive—soft, buttery, and so tender it melted with every bite. Chef Jimmy’s presentation of each dish was skillful, showcasing an attention to detail.

That said, there were a couple of things that didn’t quite meet my expectations. While eating the shinshu salmon, I found a fish scale in my piece. I understand that this can happen—it’s fish, after all—but at a fine dining restaurant of this caliber, I expect a higher level of precision. It didn’t ruin the meal, but it was disappointing given the setting and premium price point.

Another thing I didn’t love was the shots served at the end of the dinner. Last year, they served champagne, which felt much more appropriate and elegant for a fine dining experience. The champagne added a celebratory touch and helped wrap up the meal on a high note. In comparison, the shots felt out of place and a bit cheap for the atmosphere.

On the positive side, Chef Jimmy’s personality really stood out. He’s funny and makes the whole experience feel a lot more personal and fun. If you ever have a chance, I recommend reading about his backstory. It’s inspiring and gives you an even greater appreciation for the effort he puts into his work. He’s clearly very talented and hardworking, and it was a pleasure to see him in action. I hope to visit again next year. Thank you again chef Jimmy.

A true 5/5 all around!

Food: No one goes to omakase expecting to leave full, but surprisingly we weren't as hungry as we thought we would be (we shared a cup of pretzel bites about an hour before though). We booked the 8:15pm slot, and we had 19 courses. Chef Jimmy and Chef Jun made it 20 courses because they ran a teeny bit late to start for which they apologized deeply. Every bite was special and had us stunned for a few seconds as we were appreciating all of the unique flavors. Our favorites were the chilean sea bass from the kitchen, followed by the chu toro, and then the hamachi aburi (a la carte). The ice cream was also so wonderful. The texture was like marshmallow fluff, and the fruits were all sweet! My fiancé really liked the white peach and apple sodas!

Service: There were 3 servers who cleared our plates, brought out the kitchen dishes, and explained what was in the dishes. They were all very kind, patient, and attentive people! Chef Jimmy was lively and made a great effort to include everyone in with the conversation. Chef Jun was respectful and was generous with the portions he gave. I had gotten proposed to that day, and the chefs as well as the servers made us feel very special and loved!

Atmosphere: Somewhat low lighting, but not too dark - perfect in my opinion. 14 people in front of the chefs, and it felt very warm, like two people who wanted to bring friends in and feed them. Highly recommend this place. The chefs are very humble, acknolwedge when when there are pitfalls, and just want you to have the best experience. Would go again for sure. Please don't hesitate on eating at this place over another!

I had such a great time at Shoyo in Dallas! Chef Jimmy Park is not only super talented but also really fun and entertaining, which made the whole evening even better. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the uni was hands down the best I’ve ever had – so creamy and rich! What I loved most was how Chef Jimmy explained everything about the fish, like where it came from and what makes it special. It made the meal feel more personal and made each bite taste even better.
The place is spotless, and the staff is so attentive. They kept everything clean, down to the tiniest crumbs, which gave me a lot of trust in the whole experience. Parking is valet, and the entrance is really low-key, so it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking carefully. But once you’re inside, it’s all about amazing food and great vibes.
If you’re into sushi and looking for a special night out, I’d totally recommend Shoyo!

Definitely the best meal I've ever had. Worth the wait and totally worth the price given how much food you get (20 course meal) and the high quality ingrediants straight from Japan. If you are lucky enough to book a reservation, don't be a fool and sell it on the aftermarket. Save that for yourself! You won't regret it.

We had Chef Nick and he was terrific! He explained what was in each course and made jokes along the way. He also put up with my 100 questions during the meal haha. The waitstaff was amazing and very tentative! They were friendly and professional, quick to clear away empty dishes and glasses, shared additional information about the courses, sake, and wine, and never let my water glass get empty. Also, the food was exquisite, of course! This was likely the best meal we ever had! It rivals the Omakase we had in New York. We will definitely be back!

This is omakase place with arranged style from pure edomae (for example, caviar is put on toro sushi, truffle put on uni which i declined toppings). Shari was OK to good. Red vinegar and amount of rice and textures are good. Among Nigiri, madai and saba were excellent. Other nigiris are average. Tuna is from Spain which is farm raised, which tasted farm-particular oiliness. I do much prefer wild caught tuna either from Japan (Ohma) or Boston. Chswanmushi was good, but seabass grilled fish was not matches with the rest of sushi and just OK. Edomae sushi is not presentation, but edomae taste is in its spirit . Shari here was missing in this spirit. The service here was excellent. And very super friendly, funny sushi chefs. So Enjoyable experiences. Overall it was a good dinner, but I had higher expectations of edomae level, so in that respect it was disappointment. But I will come back here again next time I visit Dallas (this place is much better than other omakase places in Dallas like Yujo). My suggestion is to have more hikarimono and awabi/akagai, wild caught tuna from Japan, simple appetizer,

Believe the hype. This is a world class level. A true modern twist to the game while preserving the essence of sushi. I enjoy new concepts personally. OG can be great but a lot more personality and flare can be found at Shoyo.

Great environment. Omakases can drag out and be boring sometimes, but Shoyo understands how to keep it fun and lively. I compare it to like going to a magic show with amazing food. Twists and turns along the way to keep us entertained and energized.

Loved Jimmy. Great charisma and a real expert on sushi. We wanted to go again right away

I am incredibly thankful for Shoyo, which brings a truly unique and unforgettable Omakase experience to Dallas. In a city known for chasing trends, Shoyo stands out not just for its exceptional sushi but for its ability to create a lasting impression.

What sets Shoyo apart is that they go beyond the typical omakase. Chef Jimmy Park and his team deliver not just exquisite dishes but also an educational journey into the art of sushi—perfect for both newcomers and seasoned sushi lovers alike. The attention to detail and the continuous improvement in customer service show their dedication to making each visit memorable.

While it’s hard to compare any omakase outside Japan, Shoyo holds its own and is the real MVP here in Dallas. I highly recommend this experience for anyone seeking something truly special. Chef Jimmy Park and the entire team absolutely deserve the recognition for their passion and skill. Shoyo isn’t just a dining experience; it’s a culinary journey you’ll remember.

Sometimes you go out to eat when you are hungry. Other times you go out to have an experience. This incredible place will satisfy both. The dollar in your walllet is immaterial compared to witnessing these masters in their craft. It is a full immersion into Japanese culture right here in Texas. Thank you for the unforgettable night! We will be back (if we can get another reservation)

I’m pretty disappointed after all the hype around Shoyo. For the price, I expected to be blown away. The 18-course omakase was decent at best. I’ve had the privilege of dining at some of the greatest restaurants around the world, and this is nothing noteworthy in the slightest. Namo, Tei-An, and Uchi make this place look like a day off and for a fraction of the price. The dining room was also below freezing. I was uncomfortable the whole dinner. The only positive thing about this experience was the staff were incredibly friendly and had wonderful humor while walking us through the dining experience.

I just had my second visit here in two years and each time is exquisite. By far the best omakase I've ever had. The food is delicious and each piece is prepared with utmost skill. The vibe and atmosphere is fantastic and makes the dining experience that much more enjoyable. The staff is attentive and polite, the chefs are knowledgeable and fun and the sushi is perfect. I have been eating sushi all my life, and I've had great sushi from many places, from Florida to Mexico. Shoyo blew everything I've had until this point out of the water.

What an experience. I cannot begin to describe how fantastic everything was. It's the kind of food that makes you feel emotional from experiencing it. And the chefs are just as great. Very fun and personal atmosphere and experience, this is not a "snobby" kind of fine dining.
The menu rotates regularly, and everything is hand crafted right in front of you, and explained by their amazing chefs.

Cannot recommend Shoyo enough.

Went for my birthday in October. It's a prix fixe/omakase style Place that requires reservations ahead of time. There are food add ons and cocktails that can also be chosen.
The presentation is amazing (see photos), the portions seem small but there are 12 of them so by the end of the meal it is very satisfying. The chefs provided interesting banter throughout the meal.

Simply put, the best experience in Dallas let alone meal. I had the pleasure of joining Chef Jimmy to celebrate a late Valentine’s and Shoyo is hands-down the best of the best. An energetic, welcoming, and warm atmosphere, Chef Jimmy and team have created an amazing experience that offers comfort without sacrificing 3-star Michelin caliber service. But the real star of the show, the omakase. Words cannot do justice to the menu. Not a single serving was below 5-star and the care, craftsmanship, and personal touch with each dish truly sets Shoyo apart from the rest. Great experience with my friends at Shoyo. We were trying to book a table for 3. The app was having some difficulties. But I emailed them, they responded very fast and solved the problem right away. The parking was kinda a hassle. If they have valet parking that would be better since there are only 12 customers during each session. Block out some parking space would be helpful.
Shout out to Chef Kenny. He’s funny and professional. One of my friend has some dietary restrictions but they adjusted for her really well.

You've gotta check out Shoyo!

When I heard it only seats about 12 people and has a waitlist, I was skeptical. But let me tell you, it's a pleasant surprise. This place is all about simple elegance. No fancy decor or blaring music, just a relaxed vibe that's perfect for conversations and savoring your food. And the best part? You get a front-row view of the chefs in action, creating amazing sashimi and other dishes. It's like you've been transported from a small gem in Lower Greenville to a cozy NYC kitchen.

The staff is very nice and super attentive without being intrusive, they have Ninja-like moves.

The food has this cool one-bite rule, so you really get to enjoy every flavor. Personally, I couldn't get enough of their sashimi – it's top-notch.

Now, it's not the kind of place you'll visit all the time, but here's the scoop: They're opening a new spot, and it's first-come, first-served.

All-in-all, it’s worth the waitlist and price. It has everything high end restaurants have, minus the excessive pageantry and etiquette. Just 2 hours of flavorful bites, whiskey/cocktail, and simple decor.

Outstanding omakase experience! In a small yet intimate setting, the designated chef based on your seating will entertain your palate with a thoughtfully prepared course meal that is not to be forgotten. You will appreciate the freshness of each ingredient as attentive staff will make sure that your dining experience is the best that it can be.

Reservations are released on the 1st of every month at 9:00 a.m. local time; be sure to set your alarm and have a few date/time options planned out in advance. We had a chance to enjoy both a dinner seating (Tues-Sat) and a lunch seating (Sun) recently - both are excellent, but there is a $45 difference for a reason (and we'd rather pay that difference). The lunch seating is a great option, however, if you are new to omakase and/or if you forgot to set your alarm (lunch reservations tend to be more readily available after the initial release).

If you have a list of restaurants to try in DFW, the culinary experience at Shoyo deserves a spot!

We made the reservation beforehand online, prepaid our $150/person seat to join this 13-seating exclusive experience. While waiting in the front lounge for the dining room to be set up, we were offered to order drinks. We should have done that, but we ended up ordering drink during the omakase which was a mistake because there was hardly a moment to just enjoy the drink taste and not ruin the food taste. After everyone was seated, the waitress explained the process, the menu, the extra items we could order, then the omakase started. The menu were specially prepared for that day and it consisted of about edamame, oyster shoot, 10 nigiri, 4 dishes from the kitchen (including soup and soba), and a dessert. The 13 guests were presented with each dish at tye same time. They finish them at the same time before the next dish was presented. While this made me feel rushed because I like savoring the taste of the food and cleaning my palate between each dish, the whole experience was planned for 90 minutes, so the longer you take at the start, the more rush it was at the end.
We finished our meal with a sake shot celebrating some of the guests birthdays. We should have let them know it was also my birthday upon entering the restaurant earlier - my partner who made the reservations did not let the restaurant know that it was my birthday and it was sad being excluded from the toast.
TLDR: great experience, lots of good food. May feel a bit rushed.

Having experienced Michelin star rated sushi restaurants around the world this place seemed pretty ordinary.

For those who haven’t, this is a good place to start your high level omakase style sushi experience.
Parking can be a hassle depending on the day of the week. Ambience is decent although a better matched music could be chosen. The dining room is a bit small. The staff is very attentive and courteous.
The chefs make an attempt to talk but the individual character doesn’t really shine through. There were also 3 bones found in the eel I was served which is quite unexpected.
Price is a bit steep and doesn’t really justify the experience.
Overall, it is a good place to try once.

I really enjoyed the quality and service received during my meal! The courses were well thought out and interesting. Everything tasted amazing!! Definitely one of my favorite omakase in Dallas.

I do have to give 4 stars though due to the fact that they were unable to accommodate to my partner’s shellfish allergy. On their website they do disclose that accommodations may or may not be available. We emailed ahead of time and were told that he would have to skip the courses. He ended up skipping 3 courses and received both the appetizers as they are, without shellfish. We have been to other similar omakase restaurants, like Tatsu, who were more accommodating and provided substitutions. It’s just disappointing for the price we’re paying, we were not offered any substitutions.

Again, this is not to discredit the quality of the food and the chefs. Just something to be wary of if you have allergies.

Very difficult to get a reservation here but once you do it is quite underwhelming. It is intimate seating which means you can also hear everyone else’s conversation. The waitress was not attentive with drinks. The fish was fresh but I wasn’t blown away. It was about 15 dishes and I liked 1/3 of them. There was too much sauce that overpowered the fish. It’s worth a try if you are looking for omakase in Dallas but feel I’ve had better sushi elsewhere.

I had read about the difficulty getting a reservation here. Luckily, I was traveling solo and was able to get in. Living in Hawaii, I have high expectations of fresh fish and sushi. I’ll tell you this place is the real deal. The 18-course omakase is an incredible experience for the price. The fish was fresh and delicious. Three chef were engaging, friendly and enhanced the experience. As did the servers. Come to find out the chef/owner Jimmy Park grew up on Oahu, so I was glad to make that connection. I’ll be telling my family and friends about this place and look forward to coming back on future trips to Dallas. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

We had been trying to get a reservation and was able to get one for this week. It did not disappoint. There were 18 courses which were carefully thought out. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and amazing.

Unbelievable food and service. Very limited seating and an absolutely unique experience. I'm not sure there's anywhere else in Dallas quite like it. If you can get in you should positively go.

we have had the pleasure of photographing Shoyo and their beautiful, delicious food. not only is it a work of art but also with us photographing the menu once a month we have probably gotten to eat there more than any customer and it is the highlight of our month. Shoyo is legitimately a top notch experience from the feel of the space to the greeting to the service to the food. another plus is watching the chefs work their magic, it's such a fun, interactive experience. also, being out in the lobby during service photographing the food we get to hear everyone having such a fun time and also them raving about the food when they leave to head home.

I loved this experience! It was intimate and small. We had the opportunity to enjoy some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and the service was fantastic. She kept everything light and fun which is nice considering you’re going to a high end sushi restaurant. We were surprisingly STUFFED at the end of our meal, so if you’re worried you’ll be leaving there hungry like some places, you will not be. Score a reservation and go!

Great value for the price. I believe Shoyo is one of the first restaurants in Dallas that specialize purely in omakase. Chef Jimmy was an excellent host and the service was impeccable.

Front to back the experience at SHOYO is like nothing I’ve experienced. Friendly host, Intimate dining, personalized service, and exquisite food. An omakase I’ll never forget. Thank you SHOYO! Can’t wait to come back.

Edit: went back for more…. Still 5 stars. Amazing service, thanks Kevin. Amazing chefs( we had chef William again) and as expected amazing fish and food. Loved the ?wagyuni (I kept calling it the wagyumami). Other stars were the chutoro hand roll, hotate with yuzu and the “margherita” salmon.

Was excited to make a reservation here when they opened up a new block of dates, until I saw that "we are unable to accommodate allergies or any dietary restrictions."

Yeah, I get it, there are some people out there that try to make a reservation for omakase who say things like "I'm allergic to fish" and expect you to accommodate them. But this seems to have gone way too far in the other direction. I have a basic allergy to tree nuts. I can be near them, I can deal with cross contamination no problem, I'm not going to die from a tiny bit, but if I eat a course with nuts in it I'll get hives along my entire digestive tract for days. Yeah, it's exactly as uncomfortable as it sounds. As suggested below, contact the restaurant to check if you have issues like me.

UPDATE: I had an amazing meal at Shoyo last night. I've only ever had omakase in the US, but I've had multiple Michelin starred omakase experiences in NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco, plus others in smaller cities. Shoyo is right up there with the best of them. Every single course was delicious in a slightly different way, flavor proportions were excellent, and my particular allergy issues were accommodated thoughtfully. Service was excellent as well. Get the house made ginger for a small bit more, it was much better than the mass produced stuff. My only suggestion would be to expand the sake offerings with more carafe (~300ml) options. The larger bottle I had was delicious when paired with the sushi, but it would have been nice to have tried more than one sake and/or pair them with the courses.

Booked a private event months in advance and it was the best dining experience we've ever had. Service, food, fish, and sake was outstanding and the chefs are masters of their craft.

What an amazing Sushi Omakase experience in Dallas! My fiancé and I went to Shoyo for our Valentine's dinner, and starting from the moment we walked in till the end of our meal, everything was just perfect. Super friendly host, amazing sushi chef that prepares and serves in front of you, to my favorite Sake drinks....I highly recommend Shoyo if you want a perfect Sushi omakase experience with your date.

Omakase. Amazing service and even better food. If any restaurant deserves a Michelin ⭐️ in Texas, it’s this one. Been to many of the best sushi restaurants and Michelin star restaurants across the country and the reality that Shoyo is in Dallas is a a blessing. For a restaurant of this quality, the value is amazing. In any major metro areas this omakase would be double the price and STILL worth it. Already the hardest reservation in the city, AND the BEST restaurant in Dallas. Period.

The chefs are what make this place so special, chef kiss 🤌

Scored reservations here for husband’s birthday dinner, and this is definitely the best omakase experience in Dallas. Obviously, reservations are prepaid, but the courses are so well thought out and balanced. My palate isn’t as refined as my husband’s, but he absolutely enjoyed every dish that came out during our wonderful two hour experience here. Lady killer was our sake pick for the night; it was a clean and crisp finish between bites. We will definitely be back again.

Possibly the best meal I’ve had in my life. Out of every country and city I’ve travelled to, I wouldn’t have guessed that the best omakase would be found deep in the heart in Texas. Thank you for such a memorable experience. Everything was top notch!

We had a private event here. The staff were very responsive and helpful in arranging it. The restaurant was sleek and classy. The food was top notch. I had friends commenting they don't normally like a certain fish but liked it here. The service was excellent. The staff were fun and engaging and very accommodating. It was fun to share an evening filled with "oohs and aahs" after each course with friends. One of my best dining experiences ever. Thank you for such a great evening!

My best friend brought me here for their opening week. Everything here was so good. I thought the first dish was good and then they would keep bringing out dish after dish after dish that tasted better than the previous one. It was also cool to see everything made by hand in front of you.

As an omakase only restaurant I'll say Shoyo was not what I expected. Typically when I have a pre fixe it's not completely centered around the fish. But at Shoyo it is.
This means you're not getting crazy over the top dishes, it's primarily fish forward. Which personally I appreciate. Knowing that they're putting their seafood on the line as fresh and top grade, makes me love the business model even more.
I do think it's somewhat pricey but there are only a few places in the city that I think could compete with what Shoyo is trying to accomplish.
Stop in if you can get a seat.

Highly recommend going to Shoyo! A true omakase experience. We did the Sho option and were blown away by the attention to detail that went into every course. There was not one dish we didn’t like and left so full. The wait staff was very attentive and made sure there was not a moment your glass was even half full or your table messy. They were all so kind and personable including the chefs making the experience that much better. A special shout out to Rosie and Kevin, you both were absolutely wonderful! Can not wait to make it back in.
