10/10 WOULD DEFF RECOMMEND!!! My bestie & i came for the 13 course omakase for our 30th birthdays. From making the reservation (which you do have to put a deposit down- so that the chefs can better know what to prepare) to ending on dessert, everything was seamless, professional, welcoming & overall amazing.

The chefs are so knowledgeable & create such an interesting & fun experience. And I did mention that the food is PHEONOMENAL?!?!?! I love me some sushi & i got to try so many new things & it was all so delicious 😭 THE COCKTAILS TOO YALL!!!! You can taste the love these people put into their crafts.

I cannot stress enough how this dinner was worth every penny spent- and I'll definitely be returning.

P.s.
These aren't all of the pieces we tried, just some faves.

Yujo is hands-down the best sushi I’ve ever had! Having tried a Michelin-star sushi restaurant here in Dallas, I can confidently say Yujo surpasses it in every way. The food is fresh and expertly crafted, bursting with flavor in every bite. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between upscale and welcoming, making it a joy to dine there. Plus, the ease of getting in without all the hassle is a huge bonus. Yujo sets a new standard for sushi dining—highly recommend

Slow service. We had 1 omakase and 1 regular dish. Our 13-course omakase took 100 minutes to finish. I think they gave us a dish short but we were sick of waiting at that time that we just wanted the check. (Restaurant was not packed but they did have 2 other parties and 2 other couples).

Fish is good. Dry-aged is not worth it.

It was my partner’s and I’s first time at an omakase restaurant. We had the Uni Omakase and this was truly high grade Uni sourced from Santa Barbara. I had Uni before in San Francisco and SB, so it reminds me of the sushi restaurants out in the west coast.

Every dish was absolutely a wonderful delicate taste to experience with high quality ingredients. This is truly worth the night out, and I will be returning here to experience more omakase concepts. Thank you so much for a satisfying night!

For the dessert option, the only critique I have is to not add oreo to the matcha ice cream. I feel it dilutes the japanese experience with the matcha flavor. But i am unsure what will be a good substitute…

This is not an issue though since it was still delicious!

The service was very well attended to all our needs, so I really enjoyed the evening with all the staff present!

I dined at Yujo tonight, and while the ambiance and food were overall decent…a server accidentally spilled hot miso soup on my date’s hair, back, and down her dress!!! Thankfully, she wasnt burned, but it was quite embarrassing for us as guests. We remained calm and put water into the napkin to wipe it out of her hair, back, and dress.

I hope the restaurant can handle such situations more carefully in the future to ensure a smoother and safer dining experience for all.

The service here is really frustrating. For a table of 5 people they brought out a single order at a time, often only two bites/pieces at a time. Extraordinarily awkward dining experience to have one person eating a single piece of sushi only to wait 10-15 minutes for the next piece to come out. Really ruined the atmosphere since we were all hungry and couldn’t actually eat together. They even forgot an entire roll. No one explained to us if we were ordering incorrectly or advised us on how to order and generally seemed annoyed we wanted more than one bite at a time.
And, before you say “that’s omakase” , no it wasn’t. We ordered off the regular menu.
Really great quality sushi with upscale options not offered at more commercial places.
Interesting appetizer options not found elsewhere, too. It is very expensive though.

After reading the overall great reviews for this up and coming restaurant, me and my boyfriend were excited to give it a try. We lived in NYC for 9 years and had our fair share of great Omakase. The ambiance was really nice and the set up was very comfortable. My boyfriend got the Uni Craze and I got the Miyabi. The fish did not seem like it was the best quality, but the flavors were on point for the most part. My boyfriend said the Uni incorporated in the Uni Craze seemed more of an afterthought than intentional. The Miyabi was pretty good, but I saw the people next to us order the exact same thing I had and I noticed some differences in the fish served. They were given Uni in one of their courses and I did not receive that in my course. It is not a big deal because I enjoyed my course; however, it should be noted that different chef's may have different courses and it is not streamlined. My boyfriend and I have pretty high expectations when it come to Omakase and we have gotten better fish in NYC for less money. The sake pairing was the best part of the meal. I enjoyed the explanation of each sake bottle and really like the variety of sake they offered. Overall, I enjoyed our night at Yujo, but I will probably not come back for reasons stated above.

Food was delicious but the customer policy left a bad taste in our mouth. Made a reservation for 3 on a Thursday for 5pm. Paid the required pre paid fee for reservation. The day of, our party changed to only 2. We tried to call ahead to notify, since there is no way to modify the reservation online but they don’t open until 5p and they didn’t answer phone. We got there and were there only ones there. A party of 1 came in with no reservation, then a party of 2, and another party of 1, all with no reservations. (At least 1 ordered the omakase). When it was time to pay, we were only given credit for the 2 pre-paid omakase and not 3. They said if we let them know in advance then maybe they could do something, but we explained how that was not possible when our reservation time matched their opening time and no way to modify.

Great value omakase with unique dishes.

Yujo was recommended to us by our server at Tei An. He said when he can’t eat Tei An he eats at Yujo.

Location: it’s in a strip center at Preston and LBJ (635). I love strip center restaurants so this was a plus for me.

Interior: not super big, maybe seating for 40 people? There are two semi private rooms when you enter that could seat 8-10 each.

Food: we did the standard omakase. They also have a premium and a sea urchin omakase. Prices are about 30% cheaper than Tei An or Tatsu or Mabo. I wouldn’t say it’s on those levels but the food is very very good and a really good value play for omakase in Dallas! They dress their sushi very well: our oysters had an egg in it and many dishes had good fruit and herbs on it. They were very welcoming and substituted all fruit for my wife, who doesn’t eat fruit. I would definitely come back.

My wife and close friends came for dinner to Yujo! We had Omakase Takujo 16 course meal. I took pictures of almost all the meals and after eating I was contently full but not stuffed! We also included the four different sakes with our meals and it went very well! The end of the evening was pricey but well worth the experience! My favorite was the Snapper and hand roll! A group of folks that were at the bar level were extremely hammered and loud but we were told that usually doesn’t happen! I hope they took an Uber home but great atmosphere!

I tried the Miyagi omakase and it was delicious. The food was not authentic Japanese styled sushi but had nice additions of different ingredients that brought out the favor of each dish. Each ingredient was perfectly portioned and you could tell by how each favor complimented each other that the chef had put a lot of thought and time into making the dishes.

Paul the chef said that the courses Chaves depending on what's in season and fresh.

Although I expected to be hungry afterwards and was planning on eating a few chicken wings, to my suprise the food filled me up pretty well.

Paul is very knowledgeable about the dish he serves and she pacing of the food is one thing after you finish one. (sorry Paul, I know we took like 5 minutes on a few of them).

For the price. It's definitely worth a try atleast since it differs from other omakases and sushi in general, it's very filling and taste great!

TLDR: great sushi for the price. Definitely worth a visit atleast once.

Me and husband ordered omakase course together. We enjoyed most of the part!! We loved albacore, unagi or toro!! But miso soup, A5 wagyu and crab handroll was not that great. Less flavor of miso for miso soup and had too much sauce for handroll. Also for sushi/nigiri I wish I could experience diffrent flavor of sushi. I felt like 80% of sushi was fried garlic on the top.

I didn't like service part this is ruind our experience little bit. Sushi bar, customer can see or hear everyting. I wish I don't understand vietnamese but how vietnamese lady was chit chat front of customer that was not okay for me. They should talk to customer instead. I might go back yujo one day but not pretty soon. Hopefully service part get better when I visit again.

Sushi Experience №109

This place is NOT authentic Japanese sushi
This is a good example of how an amateur sushi chef making a self-claimed, fake edomae omakase, but it is not even close to edomae at all. Sushi here was total disaster. Chawanmushi was made so bad and it is not a Japanese dish. Eel sushi i was the worst made Sushi i tried in my life and i almost vomitted. Shari was not well made, texture, temperature and vinegar tastes were totally out of harmony and tasted terrible. All of fish except for Sawara were not preprepared well.and not fresh, tasted rather rotten with combination of extra oil sauce. As being a native Japanese sushi enthusiast raised eating edomae sushi and coming from downtown Tokyo Japan, this is such a shame to have this kinds of the poorest quality omakase sushi exists and even calling itself as deceptively an edomae style. I will not recommend this place and I will not come back here again. I do not call this place as omakase sushi, this is definitely not edomae sushi, nor even real Japanese. No one speaks Japanese and chefs are not Japanese nor he understabds how to make sushi. The worst sushi dining experience of my life here!

Sushi Experience №110

Please edit your website to “western” style.
On the phone the restaurant confirmed it was “edomae” sushi.
To the American belly who’s never had edomae this might be good. To the Tokyo person, they may feel misled in thinking they were going to get edomae sushi.

If you’re looking for true authentic edomae sushi, this is not it, as this is more Americanized and creative. If you’ve been to Tokyo, Japan (NYC or San Francisco) and had true edomae, you’ll know they only use quality fish, rice, and maybe soy sauce and it’s very simple (not using all the oils and other flavoring). But the western style and places that may not have as quality fish, you cover the sushi up with other flavoring, other fancy things, and presentation. Some of the fish was good, but to a Japanese person who’s from Tokyo it was not true to edomae.
I think the restaurant needs to preface on their menu and website that it’s a western take on edomae or omakase so Japanese people are not expecting what’s authentic.

I will give Chef Paul credit to his hard work and creativity as you can see the beautiful presentation. He put a lot of thought into the creativity.
The staff was also all kind.

The experience for someone who’s not a sushi critic may think this was good.
If you know true and simple edomae sushi and want to experience it in Dallas, go to Tatsu Dallas. (That’s an 8 seat restaurant you need to reserve far in advance.)

To those who have the western belly and like the seasoning flavorings and want to see art, go here.

Even though I’m leaving this review; the quality of the food and service can’t truly be described without trying it out yourself. The service and team behind the restaurant are amazing. Our chef, Son, was very friendly and mindful during our dining experience. He would always ask if the rice and wasabi proportions were good with us. Tina was also amazing, she was super accommodating when we wanted to alter our reservation. My girlfriend and I went to Yujo for our anniversary and we’re not disappointed. We indulged in the 16 courses, Tokujo, omakase during our visit and every course was fantastic. The quality of the fish and variety of ingredients used made each dish unique and flavorful! Definitely something I would recommend for anyone looking to elevated sushi experience.

I am a person who really try to look for a good Japanese restraints in Dallas. Sushi is not that bad but sushi chef grab rice to make nigiri then touch refrigerator door with same gloves. After I saw that I lost all my appetite. Sushi is raw food so it should be very be careful.

My wife and I have never done Omakase, so I figured her Birthday would be an awesome chance as she loves sushi & sashimi!

The vibe of the place was cool and cute (small and intimate space) and the servers/waiters were very nice!

Our sushi chef was explaining every bite and open to questions, we loved every bite we had!

The drinks were awesome too, my wife loved the Summer Day one.

We would definitely come back, the price makes it more approachable than others and the quality and value were top notch!

Omakase with a Dry Aged Speciality.

We just recently came here for their 16 course Omakase and I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of techniques involved with each dish and tasted how fresh the quality was.

MY PICKS*
- Rice Paper + Fish: super fresh and crispy (prob one of my faves)
- Scallop Sashimi + Berry: mad fresh from the sea
- White fish + Chili Oil: Ooo loved the garlic oil chili.. but that's like on anything
- Steam Egg: Probably the best I had... the umami of the both stood out on the bottom and the egg was super silky
- Tamago: loved the hints of seafood inside with the tiny drizzle of honey on top

Cocktails were okay, my spicy marg was too spicy.

I'll update once I get the list of items I had.

Every time I dine at Yujo all the staff including the Manager Tony has been so attentive and nice, the sushi served at this restaurant is truly a five star.

A recent review got my attention, Tony is an awesome Manager, he takes care of all his customers, just because this person doesn’t understand high end quality sashimi and the price you pay for it is totally worth it $$$$ so you shouldn’t be talking smack about the manager, this person needs to do more research

Tony is the worst manager anyone could hire. I won't go into my whole experience about the 16-course meal "at Market Price". Just know if you get that. expect to pay $400-$500 and you won't know until the end. Tony swears the servers tell you... They don't. He also will cut you off from talking to show he is "right". Would give less stars if I could.

This place was delicious! I had a great experience. The quality of the fish and the presentation was excellent.
The prices were reasonable, but you get great flavors and quality . I got some nigiris and they melted in my mouth, like butter. The uni wasnt fishy like most places in Dallas which was refreshing.
Tony was awesome, he made sure me and my buddy had a great experience. He let us try the wagyu roll, which was delicious with a serrano pepper topper. It gave a nice hint of heat, i loved it. He really brought the sushi bar into conversation making it feel more of social atmosphere. I will definitely be back and ditch my other sushi spots!

Such a wonderful experience! Food was amazing, wait staff was extremely attentive and kind, and service was very fast. The only thing that threw off our experience was the boy with the under bite sitting next to us. He was extremely rude and racist towards the staff. He left a review upset about the MP amount and the deposit amount. Both were very clear and there were no hidden fees. He simply just needed to ask what the market price was and he would have known that he could only afford something around the Olive Garden price range instead.

The food was absolutely amazing… but I didn’t see any of my sushi being made which was extremely disappointing as I’m a fan of omakase and it’s my favorite part(besides eating the pieces). Also my chefs were extremely difficult to understand. I had to ask 2 or even 3 times what I was eating bc I just couldn’t understand what he was saying. The chef also didn’t socialize with me at all. I would come here again if I could get a chef who made the food in front of me and could hold a conversation. Disappointing for an omakase experience.

Had a reservation for a group event and put down a security deposit. Waited 30 minutes after our time slot and table still wasn’t available. Just kept getting told it was another group that stayed too long (beyond the supposed 2 hr limit). Decided to leave out of frustration as an establishment that requires you to put down money and is considered itself fine dining shouldn’t have these logistic issues.

This is an update to my previous review after my most recent visit. Previously I did give 5 stars for “excellent” but dropped to 3 stars “okay.”

When we first visited we did not have reservation so we did not get to take part in the omakase at the bar. The owner visited with us and let us know to make reservations for next time. It was still a great meal.

This time, we did make reservations and showed up about 10 minutes before. There were a few parties already waiting, and a few more joined after us.
All of the parties were seated at the bar but not us. We were sat at a table next to a family with young children who slid items under the divide to us a few times, and were very noisy. We were really disappointed. We weren’t given an explanation as to why we weren’t able to sit at the bar even though we did have reservations.

One thing I enjoyed previously was the pacing. This time, we received most of our courses, I believe 6 through 12 (and the external items we requested) at the exact same time. We felt very rushed and didn’t get to slow down and enjoy the food. It was delicious, but we felt like we had to eat very quickly and felt left out of the dinner service.

Lastly, and least of all the full reservation fee was not refunded to me. This was only sore because the reservations ended up seeming pointless for us.

Given that it is a few hours drive for us, I don’t know that I would choose again to dine here soon. The food is excellent and I can recommend it, but with the amount of options in DFW and the length of time it takes for us to travel there, I would be inclined to give others a chance in the future.

This was my husband and my second omakase experience and our new favorite. The food, drinks, atmosphere and service were excellent. Being new to omakase, we found the staff to be helpful with recommendations and explaining different dishes. Initially they seemed a bit understaffed as we had to wait at the door with a few other parties for quite some time. Once they seated everyone and got back into routine it seemed a bit livelier. The 13 course omakase with sake pairing was good. My date and I gave the overall taste and experience a 7/10.

The food was amazing; the aged fish was interesting and unique. I highly recommend trying the omakase to get a sense of the restaurant.

They were definitely working through front of house and pacing issues with seating - our reservation was at 6:30PM and we planned to head back home after a couple of hours (pet care). So we had planned to be gone for at least 2 hours, however: 1) after checking in, we stepped outside to wait because they don’t have much of a waiting area; 2) the front desk person « forgot » we were there/had checked in; 3) we checked back in at 6:50PM and the manager/front desk person re-acknowledged that we had been waiting then he said he would call or text when the table was ready, but we didn’t get a sense that our table was coming up anytime soon… We were sat at 6:55PM.

We were given menus, so we assumed we had the option to choose differently from what we selected in the reservation, especially given their delay. We selected the more limited omakase (1hour) vs the premium (1.5-2hours). After we ordered drinks and our meal, several waitstaff stopped by to clarify that we had to go with our reservation selection, but asked the chef if they could pace the meal faster.

Well, apparently they didn’t like that - so we got our 16 course meal in the span of about 45minutes. The food was great, but if I’m going to be marched through because they can’t pace, I’d rather go somewhere like Uchi. If you compare your restaurant to that of other DFW omakase experiences, it may be worthwhile to get some tips and tricks from the front of house operations at Shoyo and Tatsu.

We had a dinner here for the first time but kinda disappointed. The 16 course Omakase was overrated. Half of the course were all dry-aged for 5 days, which are not fresh anymore. Nothing really stands out for the course. We ask if they have any special for my birthday, she told us that we have to let them know under the reservation to prepare it. Then we saw the table next to us have a piece of cake with a candle which is really simple to prepare. At the end, she just brought out the tab without asking how we want to split or not. We ordered different food and a la carte so asked her again for splitting it but she didn’t really want to do it. So we were still okay and tips well but won’t be back!!

Intimate sushi joint bolstering a variety of drinks and self coined first dry aged fish used in Dallas. Celebrated my date with the standard 13 course omakase. Our chef was Jarod, manager for the day was Tony, and bartender was Andrew.

Jarod was excellent and attentive serving at a pace so my girlfriend can keep up with and also catered to our diet, he even let me take a double take on some pieces that I absolutely enjoyed. Tony was cheerful and friendly, besides asking how the food was, he allowed us to try different types of items on/off menu to make sure we were satisfied! Andrew gave us excellent drinks to try presented in beautiful fashions.

Highly recommend their blackened cod and tuna hand roll (has crispy shallots inside for excellent texture). There was a cucumber drink lined with wasabi salt that I cannot spell the name out that I cannot recommend enough but do try it!

Definitely sit at the sushi bar to get to know your chef, you won’t regret it!

I was pretty excited to experience this restaurant. I had made a reservation earlier through the week (5 days) for my significant others birthday dinner. For a set time slot (8:30pm CST) . Once we arrived we waited about 3 minutes before we were greeted by the hostess at the door to then be told we didn’t have our “confirmed reserved” seats and that it would take a unsure 15 minutes wait. (When reserving you get a final notification to confirm reservation a day prior) For it actually to take them 40 minutes for them to call me with seating availability and then they cancelled my reservation through their portal to save face.

In short anyone looking to experience this place just know the seating situation is limited and service from the moment you open the door was not good. I say this coming from working in the food industry for 7 years.

Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Restaurant is not very big which makes it feel cozy. The hostess reserved a bench table for us facing the sushi chefs. Since it is our first time there, we opted for the Miyabi Omakase so we can have a variety of sushi to try. Similar to the authentic sushi restaurant I had in Tokyo, they don't serve sushi with soy sauce. The rice is served properly at room temperature with slight seasoning. We enjoyed each bite. The server explained each dish being served, which is a nice touch. The final verdict: authentic and fresh sushi probably the best I have had in Dallas.

So much potential, lack of pride and professionalism will continue to keep the potential locked

It's with a heavy heart that I recount my recent visit to Yujo. To celebrate my first birthday dinner in Dallas and anniversary with my partner, we visited Yujo through a recommendation from a coworker. She had previously told me that she had a pleasant experience here so I had high hopes.

When we first arrived, we were greeted at the door of a man who seemed like the manager or the owner of the restaurant. There were approximately 20 people at the restaurant when we arrived. 6 of those who were sitting at tables and the rest at the bar. We were taken to the sushi bar which was packed like a sardine can. We felt uncomfortable sitting there so we opted for a table instead. We ordered a handful of menu items to taste. Our full order of appetizer, uni pasta, 6 types of nigiri (hirame, shima-aji, fatty salmon, maguro, tai, and amaebi) , a soft shell crab temaki, 4 temaki (spicy tuna, salmon, chef's choice of toro, and my choice of hirame), and the volcano roll took over an hour to be fully served to us. Aside from my favorite nigiri, amaebi, not being served at all due to server error, we were served all out of order. As for the hot food, we understand that it may come out of order because it's being prepared in the kitchen and not at the sushi bar. However, we expected at least the rest of the dishes being prepared in order. We were randomly served temaki, some pieces of nigiri, soft shell crab temaki, then the volcano roll, and some more nigiri when we inquired about the status of our nigiri. Our palate was already overwhelmed with sauces and flavors of the roll when we received the rest of our nigiri. By the time we were already done with our meal and they had taken our plates away, we finally asked them about the status of the our amaebi, which we found out was never ordered. We were offered amaebi on the house, but we refused since we had already finished our meal.

It was also evident that sushi chefs were distracted by the bar customers buying the chefs and the server drinks, which resulted in the lack of pace and speed the preparation of our meal. We were informed by the owner/manager that because their restaurant is omakase style, it was served at a slower pace. If the service was slow because it's omakase style, we should also expect the food to come out in order, omakase style. It did not.

We were woefully neglected at our table, and because we were seated at the sushi bar, we were made to feel like invisible afterthoughts. The sushi chefs not only displayed complete disregard for patrons not seated at the sushi bar, but our voice of concern and dissatisfaction regarding the sluggish pace of the food earned us disdainful glares from the chefs. Perhaps the most disheartening part of this experience was the complete absence of any pride or respect for the craft of sushi-making. It's one thing to enjoy your work and interact with the customers, but it's quite another to let your enjoyment compromise the quality and pace of your product and the satisfaction of paying customers.

In conclusion, my visit to Yujo was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe. The abysmal service led to a great disappointment to our special night, and I am disheartened to say that I will not be recommending this place to anyone who respects the art of carefully crafted sushi.

We got the 16 Tokujo omakase courses. The sushi was pretty underwhelming and lacked the unique flavor profile of each fish. The sushi rice was also not anything special and the octopus was too chewy. We did enjoy the mackerel and matcha ice cream.

Yujo ambiance is better as an a la carte or if you're looking for a quick omakase as reservations are easier to obtain than places that only specializes in omakase. I found that it was a bit hectic as each reservation at the sushi bar was on a different course. If you're looking for a traditional omakase experience, this made it felt less intimate and cohesive.

This omakase restaurant has truly redefined the art of Japanese dining.

The real star of the show, however, was the dry-aged fish. It's a rarity in the world of omakase, and this restaurant has mastered the craft.
The omakase experience was an orchestrated symphony of flavors and textures, with each course seamlessly building upon the last. The presentation was a work of art, showcasing the chef's creativity and attention to detail.

The service was wonderful, with the knowledgeable and attentive staff adding to the overall experience.

100% recommend!! it's a rare treat that's worth every penny for those seeking an extraordinary gastronomic adventure. Whether you're a seasoned sushi aficionado or new to the world of omakase, this restaurant's unique offering of dry-aged fish is sure to leave a lasting impression on your palate.

My friend took me to this newly opened “authentic” Japanese Omakase restaurant. Throughout the whole Omakase, chef was not in front of us which I don't believe that even counts as Omakase.

I don’t like their sushi. The ingredients are sketchy not sure where they got the fish.

I am also kinda confused why they call themselves Yujo, in Japanese  'Yujo' is 遊女 ゆうじょ. “遊” means “play” and “女” means “female” - historically associated with the term for a prostitute in old Japan.

They claim their name is "友情 (friendship)", while their primary decor on their wall is a shirtless lady.

I don't exactly know what they want to convey.
