I’m very appalled at the service provided to us from our server London. I’ve always visited the Plano location and after being invited to this location. I won’t go back. It was to my surprise that after asking to speak with a manager with my friend Kevona, he laughed at the request. As a frequent fine dining and craft cocktail goer. This is unreal.

I was looking for ramen late night. I almost left immediately because the only parking was through valet. Turns out they only serve ramen the first Monday of the month. I tried the gyutoro dumplings and the tuna maki. Both were good. I think overall the ambiance and fanciness was a bit lost on me. I enjoyed my food but found it to be too bougie. Service was great and the bartender helped me to find some things to enjoy

One of our favorite restaurants in Dallas. Every bite is incredible. The service is always top notch it's obvious a lot of time and care goes into training. The sushi is perfect with fun and unique twists. The salmon, sardine, and tuna loin were standouts tonight. The hama chili crudo and zero sen hamachi roll are both fantastic. They have really great hot items, too, like the portobello dumplings and the buns. On this visit, we had a katsu chicken bun with curry cole-slaw that was incredible. Simple things like their brussel sprouts are so good. Leave room for dessert. The fried milk and tapioca are not to be missed. They have a great happy-hour menu, too. We didn't get pics of everything we had, but you can see that everything is beautifully presented and made with such care. We truly love Uchiba!

The company I work for had their holiday party here and I was so impressed by the layout and decor, the food was delicious and the service was top notch. Special mention to Marz and Amanda for being so kind and attentive. They told us about their favorite dishes and make us feel so taken care of. We will definitely be back for date night and we will be asking for them by name. Thank you, Uchiba Dallas!

Staff was rude & incompetent. Hostess, waitress, and what seemed to be manager, all had a terrible attitude.
The waitress forgot drink orders several times and every time any food came out, they just put it on the table in front of the wrong people and never said which dish was which. Out of the 7 things our table ordered, I think 1 item was just decent which was a breaded chicken dish- pretty hard to mess that up anyway.
I heard so much hype about this place and after my experience, I just don’t get it. Extremely over priced subpar food with subpar atmosphere & staff.

Each staff member was in sync, friendly, working hard, and on their 10’s! The food is fresh! I ordered 9-10 different plates and it was ALL fresh! I haven’t read any of the other reviews and honestly, I don’t care to because my experience set the bar. There’s nothing negative I can say about this place. Give it a try if you’re in the area!

2. Island heat (pineapple and habanero infused gracias a dios mezcal, orgeat, yuzu honey)- 10/10

Food:
1. Hot rock (wagyu beef, ponzu)- 1000000/10. It's worth the price.🤤
2. Shrimp Skewer- 10/10
3. Chicken dumplings- 9/10
4. Snow crab maki (snow crab, mango, cilantro, spicy ponzu)- 10/10 The mango added an elevated taste to the dish.

The staff are so knowledgeable. I've not come across one that didn't have actual trained taste buds. If you are looking for good food, not food that sticks to your ribs, I mean food that is delicious, flavors that complement and pop, this is your spot. If you're basic go elsewhere. If you eat grocery store sushi, this is not for you.

Wow, my partner and I were blown away! Nearly every small plate we ordered exceeded our expectations.

Dishes like the chicken thigh skewers, shrimp skewers, and salmon belly nigiri were simple yet delicious. Our favorite was the chicken katsu bao, which we had to get a second time! The seared scallops dish took the longest, but it was honestly the most delectable serving of scallops I ever had because of the sauce underneath (and I’m a HUGE fan of scallops). We ended the night with a chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream combo that we wouldn’t normally get, but I was so happy we did because that cake was so moist!

I will say that I thought each item was on the pricey side since they were small plates, but I didn’t regret ordering any of them once they came out. I can’t wait to go back to Uchibā Dallas!

I am so glad we were able to try this spot while visiting friends in Dallas. It’s sort of like a Japanese tapas style restaurant. You’re ordering a variety of small portioned plates, sometimes sharing, and they are all amazing. Though I didn’t picture everything, there is nothing I didn’t enjoy. My favorites included the Hama Chili, beef skewers, Brussels sprouts, and Fried Milk. I highly recommend this place, especially during happy hour. It offered a very cool and unique experience with a group of friends. Our waiter even outlined which items are vegan, pictured below, for our vegan friend. Definitely can’t wait to try their other locations!

So going here, the food is amazing..no doubt, everything was delicious, but I have to comment about the care and concern of the Uchi staff. Being an intimate dining space, I didn't think they would cater to a party of 16 the way they did. It was a special occasion for a dear friend of mine and we all wanted it to be perfect. I called beforehand and they made it absolutely a fun, light and intimate experience for us all. I am a bit emotional writing this because they were so kind, from food allergies, to how we wanted to be served to the excellent staff - Joey was our lead server but it seemed the entire restaurant was focused on our happiness. I couldn't have asked for a better experience for our party and my friend. I am deeply in awe and definitely highly recommend!

Great staff, we gave a server our budget, had a conversation about likes, tastes even allergies, and let him take it away, an amazing procession of flavor, texture and foodie lingo ensued, dessert and libations were not overlooked. Being open later than most bonus. Return trips are guaranteed!

Dined in for a friend’s birthday dinner. Had to make reservations and placed a credit card on file in case we were a “no show” and charged $25 per person. Has valet parking if needed. Restaurant is located on the second floor. May access via stairs or elevator. Waiting area is part of the “outdoor” dining which is technically not outside because it is closed in. That area has great ambiance while waiting to be seated. Once in the actual restaurant, it is dark so be mindful of that. I took a picture of the menu so you can see how the visibility is, but once your eyes get adjusted, the lighting is okay.

Our server, Joey, was phenomenal. We decided to order some small plates, and let the chef do a similar omakase style where they make 6 dishes for us to try. After that is done, we can order more as we go. I really enjoyed the hama chili, pork belly skewers, hirame kombujime, sake toro, kanpachi nigiri, hamachi nigiri, and fried milk. Some of the dishes were too salty for my taste like the Brussels sprouts, gyutoro nigiri, and karaage, but to each his own.

Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed our first dining experience at this establishment!!

The food was great, service Alice was good this time. The previous service was awful last time and we almost give up on coming here again😂
Wanna to recommend my favorite dish of Chicken katsu bao P3. Really enjoyed it..
The desert that Alice recommended was seasonal sundae, very tasty! The only bad experience that the one who gave us the desert without spoon or 🍴, and waiting the unitial for a long time it almost became melted.. 😂
For the environment, it’s crowded and very noisy, I think it’s because lots of party here..

Solo dinner at the bar
Was NOT disappointed in 1 bit
Every bite i ate was better than the last
Bartender was informative, passionate and attentive

Highlights for me were the Australian wagyu nigiri, melt in your mouth
the butter chicken dumplings, perfectly blended flavors and textures for a surprisingly meticulous bite
The tiger bun, pork belly and pickled veg, need i say more?
The chicken meat all skewers with thr egg yolk emulsion. also a hit. So rich and umami forward was a great bite.
The snow crab maki also was unbelievable light refreshing nuance of flavor and texture was on point
I ordered a ton more but that's what stood out to me even a week later as I write this review
But the best bite of the night. Their "sundae" pear sorbet, apricots, puffed quinoa, oh my god so refreshing and satisfying with all the different textures and flavors. Really blew me away.

I spent 200 for a solo dinner, & it was
worth it.

My only regret is I was still feeling a little hungry before dessert so I ordered more nigiri and got some bluefin but because of everything I already ate i couldn't taste the fish so well so definitely recommend starting lighter and ending heavier

Perhaps one of the best vegetarian meals I have eaten in Dallas. I've been vegetarian for going on about 12 years now and their vegetarian menu puts so many other restaurants to shame! Other restaurants need to take notes on how to do a vegetarian menu right like this.

Everything we had was utterly delicious and our server was so kind and knowledgeable.

Food coming out of the kitchen was a bit slow which was our only concern with our experience which my understanding led to us waiting for our reservation.

Restaurant was a bit loud, could definitely use some curtains or softer furnishings to help deaden the volume of the dining room. One or two loud tables really make that place feel louder than it should be.

Overall our experience was stellar and I cannot wait to return, that vegetarian menu has me eager to try so many more things!!!

This experience definitely hurt my wallet a bit but the food itself was excellent.

Order off the happy hour menu when possible, the prices are quite a bit lower. The Foie Gras and the fried milk dessert stood far and away as the highlights of the night for me. If nothing else, try those.

Service was good and friendly and drinks were solid as well.

Solidly mediocre food and service was terrible. I was seated at the bar before it was busy and somehow ended up in the sweet spot of getting ignored while two diners on either side of me at the bar happened to get attentive service. So grateful to you both for an unforgettable dining experience! The sea bream (Madai Crudo) was the fan favorite of the table, including someone who only had seafood twice in the past 20 years. 0/5 for Gift Cards. Do Not Buy the Gift Cards!

A long while ago we received a gift card for Uchi/Uchiba from our friends. It took us a while, but we eventually found ourselves upstairs at Uchiba. The food was fantastic and drinks were all on point! The whole experience was wonderful until the very end when we tried to pay using that gift card.

Our server said the gift card came back empty. Eventually, a manager came out and questioned us where we were seated at the bar. It was very embarrassing and uncomfortable. Eventually the manager believed our story and comped the amount that should have been on the gift card from our bill. She said to send her proof of the payment.

So the following couple weeks involved having to reach out to my friends for proof of payment (another uncomfortable and embarrassing situation). Once I received proof, I emailed it to the manager. The manager apologized and said to reach out for a reservation sometime, saying they would make it special. That felt alright since it seemed they would try to redeem the poor experience.

I recently reached out for a reservation. The manager responded and asked what time we would like to show up. I responded with our preferred time. She never got back to us after that. I emailed her again several times, but still no response. We’re assuming something happened, but it still has left us with a bitter taste for Uchi/Uchiba. Overall the experience has left us not wanting to return.

The whole purpose of this story is to drive home the point, DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS from Uchi! The recipient of the gift card may have to go through a very unpleasant experience like we had to.

Got there just in time that we caught the tail end of happy hour that’s daily (5-6:30pm) which they have assorted nigiri, yakitori, cold tasting, hot tasting, and cocktails!

we got duck leg, avocado sushi, sake sashimi, tuna loin, hot rocks, and hotate. Because I recently visited another sushi establishment, none of the sushi really stood out to me. The hot rock was an cool experience and THE 👏🏻 FRIED 👏🏻 MILK 👏🏻 dessert was the underdog! It’s paired with ice cream and chocolate crisp 😮‍💨 (I can probably eat 3 of this myself)

The service was awesome nothing less than expected! They offer inside or patio seating! Upstairs to uchi Dallas

**Review:**

Uchiba in Uptown Dallas offers an exceptional dining experience. The shishito peppers with ba dip were flavorful and perfectly spiced. The nasu katsu bao buns were crispy and delightful. The kinoko skewer from the yakitori grill was savory and tender. The nigiri, especially the nasu (eggplant) and avocado, were fresh and beautifully presented. The Inari maki (tofu) was a delicious highlight. The presentation of each dish was artful, and the ambience was sophisticated and inviting. Excellent choice if vegetarian menu. Special thanks to our server, LaLao, for the impeccable service. Highly recommend!

We have visited the restaurant in person many many times and our toddler has enjoyed eating there too. But today we were really disappointed at the poor attitude shown by the front staff at UchiBa - Our simple request for our Uber eats order was to put chilli oil or paste on the side on 2 things so that our son could enjoy the meal as he cannot eat spicy food. In fact we only brought the meal for him as a treat given all the power outages in Dallas left us without power and supplies for a while.

But the front staff despite the order taking over 1 hour showed a lot of attitude and dismissiveness, almost shunning us that this request will not be accommodated again. We were told our order is taking longer because of our request where there was tons of staff idle on what was likely a slow day for them. In this environment I would not expect the front desk to show me unnecessary attitude and push back. The lady on the phone was kind enough to convey the notes to the kitchen and did not indicate anything about Uber eats orders not accepting notes.

As someone who must have eaten at Uchi restaurants over a 100 times with friends, family, and colleagues, across Dallas, Austin, and other places, this was highly disappointing. We are one of their loyal customers including during Covid when every place was suffering. They have usually treated us respectfully when we visit with family. Today they let us down and We deserve better treatment.

Food, Bartender, Drinks everything was outstanding and the level of detail is what you should expect out of a restaurant of this caliber. There is a MAJOR caveat that cannot be ignored, the expo (I assume Sous chef) has a terribly bad habit of touching her nose, face, itching her eyes, scratching her head, all through the two hours of dining at the bar this could not be ignored. Hands were not washed once. It’s disgusting to see and should not be taken lightly. Please learn to be sanitary and not be a foul beast while touching raw fish, peoples food, etc. It’s a basic and common decency. Other than that great place but beware if she’s on expo. Gross.

Odd/bad experience - First time visit, last time. I’ll stick to facts. I will say that for our dishes we did actually receive they were mostly good.

We came and ordered upfront over $500 of food (normal for this restaurant). The restaurant when we arrived was max 70% full and dropped to 40%. Lots of 10+ person tables which for a waiter, can’t blame, is the big fish.

They took 45 min to get our second drink and the waiter came by once and apologized, very nicely, and the second time said they actually gave it to another table (odd but we were ok because we had received 2x dishes of the 15+ we ordered and were happy to space out the only two drinks we were having).

Then after we received 1/3 our meal it took an hour to receive anything else. Our booking was at 7:15 and it was 9:00pm when I flagged down our waiter and said “we just want to pay for what we had and leave. I am sorry if y’all take a long time and we didn’t know or if you’re a chef short / someone didn’t show up.” The waiter then disclosed he served our remains 2/3 of dishes to other tables and apologized.

The manager then came over and was nice but said “Sorry if you weren’t aware of the experience”. They “comped” the dishes we didn’t receive. And she had to confirm what we ordered and what we received as she didn’t know and disclosed a lot of dishes had been showing as “fired” but we did not receive. And saying how they would charge what we ate so the waiter could still be tipped.

The waiter came by again. And said how sorry he was and please come by again to let them him do a do over. (I didn’t say we’re not coming back again). He said again how our dishes went to wrong tables? We paid for what we ate, they said they “comped” the most expensive dish for us, otoro, but we actually never got it (was not going to say anything)… we tipped, left, and went by Chipotle on the way home.

It was my birthday and I guess what I get for trying to do something fancy. I just*hoped* if you pay more you get good service but that’s not that case.

Save the money, the prétention, and go to Oishii for 1/10th the price and out of the 30x we’ve been there, never bad service.

Just my experience - very odd, made me feel guilty for trying to do something nice I had planned for 1+ year. Kinda sad.

I can confidently say, this is my absolute favorite restaurant in Dallas. Everything from the atmosphere, the staff and my oh my, the food. Absolutely wonderful.

The restaurant is beautiful, with an option for indoor or outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I love how they describe all of the dishes as they bring them to you.

The drinks are great. There's one drink in particular that I absolutely love, and regardless of the bartender, it always tastes the same, delicious!

The food is on another level. Every dish I got seemed like it was cooked for a food critic, just perfect!

I have no complaints about this restaurant at all. Kudos for a job well done. Can't wait to go back.

Our favorite restaurant in Dallas.
Recommend: yuca chips, *zuwaigani snow crab, *akami tuna loin nigiri, pho dumplings, *72 hr short rib, *karaage chicken, ma dai, beef hot rock, and of course the fried milk.. naturally any of the A5 wagyu is also amazing.
Would love some more cocktail options and to bring up onto the menu the kabocha from downstairs!

My wife doesn’t like most sushi. Zach, our server, quickly identified her flavor profile and made excellent recommendations and pairings that she loved. She tried more different types of sushi tonight than the past few years. The menu has many amazing items, but can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, Zach guided us along the way. The bao buns were an amazing flavor explosion.

One of my favorite sushi places in Dallas. I usually go in, sit with my favorite server, and ask him to put together whatever he recommends with no limitations, and it never disappoints!

The food is great; the yuzu sake is one of my favorites, and the desserts are not something to pass up.

I’m typically underwhelmed by dessert options at restaurants, but at Uchibā, I always make room for some treats.

Trust your server, describe what you like and don’t like, and let them take care of you!

I frequent Uchiba's happy hour every couple months or so, alone or with friends! I love bringing people here and sitting at the bar. The HH selection is usually very good as well. Sometimes there are items that are more fusion, which can be a hit or miss, but it’s still exciting to try them.

However, this past time, we came during HH just hoping to squeeze some drinks in at their “waiting table.” (Their drinks are very good imo, so it was worth it to just sit at the waiting table.) But that was a hot mess—three hosts and none of them guided us to the table nor cared to get us menus. Like I felt like I knew what I was doing more than they did—and why wouldn’t they recommend me to sit?

For drinks, I had to chase them down to order drinks. Everyone else that sat after us were greeted with menus. We finally got menus when the couple sitting next to us offered theirs. Like what?? And also, none of the servers knew who was who. We were approached two to three times with drinks for other people… Idk… usually I have very good experiences at Uchiba, but last night was kinda a mess and made me weary of future experiences.

I'm a huge fan of Uchi and Uchiba and have had many meals at the Dallas location. Just leaving a note here to applaud the outstanding staff. My wife and I were celebrating last night and a woman needed to be reseated. She was placed at a table across from us. She was very upset, and seemed to have had too much to drink or was having a mental moment or both. The staff kindly worked with her to see what they could do. She was quite unreasonable and yet the Uchi staff was unflappable. We don't see this level of service and compassion that often, especially when it could have easily escalated into a scene. The exceptional professionalism and kindness was impressive.

I go to uchiba often. Usually it’s great. I’ve ordered a chicken item only twice as I prefer their fish and beef options … once in 2022 I ordered the sliders as I dined inside and today the chicken sliders via delivery. Both times I received raw chicken I had to spit out. Unacceptable that it happened twice let alone once. Very disappointed.

My favorite restaurant to visit in uptown. They have very tasty vegan options and delicious cocktails. The island heat is my favorite cocktail. Nasu is the only sushi I order and it is bursting with flavor, the yuca chips with the edamame hummus is a must. This is the only place that I order brussel sprouts at and they are crispy and simply the best, just be certain to request the vegan version without the fish sauce. 🌱

Still turns out different versions of sushi/Asian fusion than other Dallas spots, but has definitely lost a step or two in past year. Standouts were O Toro, pork jowl, A5 Maki with garlic, Medai, short rib/kimchi dumplings, and pork katsu bao. other items not listed were often oversalted or undercooked. Modern service staff leaves much to be desired (slow, disconnected and apathetic). One more shot before it leaves rotation

A group of what looked like college kids came to dine at the big table and were extremely loud and discourteous to everyone in the restaurant tonight. Several other diners were looking over at the table while the group screamed and laughed obnoxiously, I could hardly hear my boyfriend talking to me and he was sitting next to me at the sushi bar. At one point, a few of the girls from the group went to the bathroom (which is right by the kitchen) and began screaming so loud about something that even staff members working in the kitchen were looking over at them. When I complained to the hostess, not much action was taken and it turned out the group might have known some of staff members? One of the kids even went into the kitchen at one point/hugged the hostess. Regardless of the group’s relation to the restaurant, it made our dining experience highly unenjoyable and honestly looked unprofessional. My boyfriend and I have been pretty regular diners at Uchiba over the past few years and this situation kind of turned us off from returning for awhile.

The happy hour menu is of course smaller than the regular dinner menu but has lots of the items for effectively half price. Even at this cheaper price, dinner was expensive. Nearly $200 for 2 big dinners. Great for Japanese authentic and fusion food that doesn't taste fake. Highly recommended

You can’t leave here without finishing it off with one of their desserts! You really can’t go wrong with what you get. The fried milk is always a favorite, never thought to get the sorbet but my daughter wanted it and it was delicious but what surprised me was the crispy bao on the happy hour menu. I was eating solo at around 9pm, so I opted to sit at the sushi bar. The view of the kitchen was nice. I noticed that while everyone seemed to be busting their tails, the staff seemed to all interact positively with each other and seemed to enjoy working there. Good, mellow vibes.
David and Chef Sonny (sp?) took great care of me. They assisted with food and drink recommendations and were very attentive of my dining needs. I chose mid-priced drinks and dishes. All in all, I spent around $100.
I enjoyed the yuki no bosha and hakkaisan sake drinks. Both were light and refreshing. No lingering flavors. Cool. Crisp.
For my meal, I had the east coast oysters (kumquat ferment and cilantro oil), zero sen makimono (yellowtail), madai crudo (sea bream), and the a5 wagyu beef (Thanks Chef!).
Everything was so delicate in texture and full of flavor.
I wished the oysters had a little kick of spice. Chili or something. I’m not sure what. But being from Florida, oysters border on being a staple and we eat them with some horseradish or hot sauce - so spice is what I’m familiar with. Also, in the kitchen’s defense, I was determined to try them, despite being inconspicuously advised against.
The yellowtail sushi was phenomenal, but it was not as mild of a fish as I was expecting. (Not a complaint, just an observation) I definitely recommend this roll.
The wagyu was so tender, it literally melted in my mouth.
But my favorite (veerrryy close call with the wagyu) was the madai crudo. The flavors within the dish were perfectly complementary. The sprinkle of coarse salt on top brought out the different sweets and savories. This was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had!!
To complete my meal, I ordered the infamous fried milk. So glad I did! While I was plenty full at this point, my tastebuds took charge and I found room for the treat. Definitely recommend!
From ambience to service to food, this was a fantastic solo dining experience.
I can’t wait to come back and try some of the more daring dishes - the loins, livers, bellies, and urchins!

Food wise, my fav dish were kinoko usuzukuri and tsukune, I'm impressed by every hidden detail that every dish presents. Not only the server whose in charge of our table but every single staff who brought the dish to us took note of what allergies my hubby had and mentioned if it may contain the cross contamination (seafood allergy) or not. Definitely impressed by staffs' care and professionalism. We were absolutely moved by the staff - taking care of customers is more important than food itself sometimes. First off I want to say I love the food at Uchiba, Uchi, Uchiko and the atmosphere. It never fails to disappoint, the ambiance and vibes are impeccable. However the service with our waitress Tram was questionable.. my group of friends and I have never felt this way before. I think it’s okay to have mediocre service but our experience was just odd. Benefit of the doubt she may have been having a bad night. But the way she acted made us have a good fun night turn into such an awkward and unpleasant time. The attitude she had was very berating towards us and whether it was when we asked for water or wanted to order. It was very uncomfortable. It’s a shame that we wanted to have a reunion and it was ruined by just the service of one person. Besides her the service from every single waiter and hostess was amazing.
