Uchi, "house" in Japanese, is founded by James Beard Award‑winning Chef Tyson Cole. A delicate balance of elevated food and impeccable service, Uchi offers non‑traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi, and a seasonal omakase.
Uchi Dallas is truly exceptional! The menu is incredible, and I decided to go with the chef’s tasting menu, which included ten beautifully crafted plates. Each dish was a masterpiece, perfectly balanced in flavor and presentation. The attention to detail and the variety of flavors made for an unforgettable dining experience. If you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine or simply love innovative, high-quality food, Uchi is a must-visit!

10/10! SO GOOD! The service was amazing, i wish i remembered his name because he brought the most amazing dishes, but we did the option where the server asks us a few questions and brings different dishes out. I’m not a huge raw fish person…… but here i loved it! Definitely should try this place, nice vibe. The picture of the crab roll and the tuna, apple and goat cheese were my favorites.

We had an incredible anniversary dinner at Uchi Dallas, and it exceeded every expectation! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was sophisticated yet welcoming. Our server, Zang, was outstanding—one of the best we’ve ever had, easily in the top 5. His attention to detail, knowledge of the menu, and overall service made the night extra special. As for the food, every dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The experience was elevated by the restaurant’s exceptional ambiance and impeccable service. Uchi Dallas is truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I can’t recommend it enough. We’ll definitely be back to celebrate more milestones here! 5 stars all around!

Warning: Uchi serves up such creative and delicious food that all of your mid sushi places will fall off of your rotation. This means you’ll be spending a lot more money to get your sushi fix. But it’s worth it. The combination of flavor profiles makes your taste buds come alive. The portions are perfect. And the presentation is simple, yet artful. I was recently in NYC and went for sushi. Dining at Uchi Dallas was an absolutely divine experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted and promptly seated by the hostess team, setting the tone for an exceptional evening. Our server was phenomenal, guiding us expertly through each course of the sampler menu, which allowed us to enjoy a remarkable variety of dishes. Every course was thoughtfully curated and masterfully crafted, showcasing exquisite flavors in each bite.
What stood out just as much as the food was the attentive service; every staff member who placed a dish on our table was well-versed in the ingredients and offered friendly, knowledgeable insights into each item. The vibe of the restaurant was phenomenal – the music selection was on point, the volume set perfectly so my guests and I could enjoy our conversation with ease, and the cadence of drinks and check-ins was seamless and delightful.
Not a single dish disappointed – each one was a delightful surprise. Uchi Dallas is truly a must-dine destination, well worth both the time and expense. I can’t wait to return for another phenomenal experience.

Very creative and unique small plates. The chef’s put a lot of thought into pairing ingredients.
Was a bit disappointed by the chicken sandwich and bun.
The sushi and seafood plates were fresh and delicious, as was the wagyu. Super tender and delicious.
The chicken seems to be lacking in my opinion relative to the other meat and veggie options.
Food also comes out slow and was a bit overpriced for a group omakase (recommended by the server)

While the food at Uchi Dallas is undeniably fantastic, the service leaves much to be desired. The staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive, making us feel like an afterthought rather than valued guests. For the high prices, you’d expect a much more attentive and professional experience. A great meal doesn’t quite hit the mark when the service feels so off.

Chef Tasting is all I do! Chef tasting is like listening to your favorite radio station that plays all your favorite songs, surprises you with amazing new songs you’ve never heard before and good songs that compliment the playlist keeping the vibe and atmosphere great. That’s what the Chef Tasting is. Your Chef or Server keeps the sushi coming. As each dish is placed on the table, your amazing, knowledgeable server, or Chef if you’re sitting at the Sushi Bar explains to you in detail what you are about to taste and how you should taste it. Coupling your experience with your preference of either a sweet saki or my personal fav “demon slayer” will quickly transform your mind body and soul into a wonderful whirlwind of good music vibes and dishes that will challenge your taste buds in so many wonderfully creative ways. I love reviews where I don’t take pictures because that means I am fully committed to enjoying the moment for which I’ve yet to be disappointed.

After explaining your likes and preferences, the waiters/waitresses guide you through their menu. Suggesting items that they think everyone will love. Makes trying new things special and the fact that plates are small, makes it easy to try many things

The food and atmosphere were top-notch. My friend and I opted for the Samakase experience, and I couldn’t have been more delighted. The A5 dishes were my absolute favorites. My taste buds were in a state of confusion, trying to decipher the delightful flavors. The attentive waiter took the time to inquire about our allergies and preferences, and the rest of the culinary journey was a seamless experience. I managed to capture some of the dishes, so you can indulge in the flavors through the photos if you wish.
One thing that truly stood out was the phenomenal dessert, the banana cake. It was a culinary masterpiece, and I couldn’t help but give it a thumbs up.
Now, let’s talk about the complimentary valet service. While it was a nice touch, it fell short of expectations. The weather was chilly, and despite having a heat lamp outside, it wasn’t functioning properly. Additionally, I waited about 15-20 minutes after inquiring about a misplaced ticket number or forgotten car. I understand that mistakes can happen, but it was frustrating to see at least 8-10 couples retrieve and drop off their cars before me within minutes.

We had a 6 course vegetarian chef's tasting menu . This was our first ever trying Japanese food and coming to Uchi. We were little skeptical if the vegetarian menu would be worth it since Japanese food are famous for otherwise. But oh boy !!!! We were completely surprised with the food . It was too good, dam tasty and was in good proportion. I would definitely recommend to give this restaurant a chance even if you are a vegetarian. I had my own personal favorites among all courses and you must try :
Nasu
Uchi salad - I am not fan of salads but this one it changed my mind !
Crispy tofu -
Desert - fried milk
Coming to the service part , I observed few misses.
The servers that brought food to our table , some of them placed the food without telling us the dish name and at times talk about the dish too fast. Though they explained what the dish is(fast at times), we had to constantly check back the menu card , figure out ourselves what could be the dish name. I think this can be improved considering it's equally important to showcase the Japanese food, in other words give equal importance to what food is served to the table? That is why I don't recall some of the other dishes we had since I actually don't know their names.
Another small miss - Our main server at times no where to be seen on the floor and other times will be busy on other tables resulting into little focus on our table . It's not a biggie but found ourselves few times looking for server to help. I also not think it's server at fault as they were handling multiple tables at once . I am not sure if this was one off issue that day .
However above misses completely negates over their tasty food. Will definitely come back

A gorgeous restaurant, convenient location and very hard working staff. For our first time visiting, we took a chance and did the multi-course experience selected by our server. I'm not usually one to overindulge, but everything was so good that we had to see what was next and ended up having to take the last course to go because we absolutely couldn't eat anymore. I highly recommend going very hungry for the culinary adventure.

We ordered Negitoro, ham and egg, hirame, shim satsuki, and white fish. My favorites were the ham and egg, hirame, and shim satsuki.
The sushi was fresh, but nothing extraordinary.
Our server was extremely annoying, constantly coming to our table to ask if we wanted to order more. I felt rushed and didn’t enjoy the experience.
The atmosphere was very loud, and valet parking was required.
This restaurant serves contemporary sushi, not authentic Japanese sushi. Overall, it was a decent experience, but not particularly memorable.

One of my friends was in town visiting and we wanted to treat her to omakase, especially because she had recently come back from Japan. Uchi has been on my list of places I've been wanting to try for years, and is constantly touted as one of the best places for sushi, so we had high hopes going in.
We initially came for happy hour, but decided to go for the chefs special for a party of 3 (thinking, we may as well try the best of the best). Unfortunately, the quality of the sushi and the dishes did not live up to expectations at all. Nearly all of the sushi felt very fusion-food-like. Most of the dishes had citrusy flavors overpowering the actual fish. The rice was oddly sweet. One of the dishes tasted like it was drenched in fruit punch. I was really expecting authentic sushi but this was just not it, and it was a bit embarrassing after having told our friend this is supposed to be one of the best sushi restaurants in Dallas. The best part of the experience was the dessert, which was just sad.
Our experience may have just been an off night (we went on a Sunday night), but looking at pictures other folks have posted it seems like this might just be the type of sushi served at this restaurant (catering to Texas tastes perhaps?). Additionally, the dishes were TINY, both for the price and compared to other places I've had omakase (we ended up having to get food elsewhere afterwards).
All of the staff were very nice and service was great, the food was just a complete disappointment. I'm really hoping this isn't truly the best sushi Dallas has to offer.

I have been to Uchi before and had an amazing dining experience. This experience I had the last time was awful. I spent over $500 and none of the food came out when we ordered it. Got served one of our dishes after I had already paid the bill..it was one of the first things I ordered and assumed they forgot. It was also my best friends birthday and I asked 3 different people to make sure she got some type of dessert or something to celebrate and that never happened. I’m beyond disappointed at the entire experience. For $500+, I would have expected a better experience. I will add that I was expecting to spend a bit, but this was absolutely not worth that price tag. I would have had a better time somewhere else for a lot less.

The last few times I have gone to uchi the food has continued to decline in quality. Last night our sashimi and two other dishes were so salty that we had to send it back and request a new order after just one bite. Not sure what’s going on but this is not the uchi of several years ago and that’s very clear. No longer the best sushi in Dallas!

I am so sad I am writing a review. My boyfriend wanted to take me out for our anniversary and since I love sea food/sushi, he thought this would be the perfect place to bring me. After eating at Uchi, my love for sea food is gone. The food was so underwhelming. He saved up forever to take me out and we got the chef's tasting we asked for two people, and we got one plate of everything with the smallest bites i have ever seen, we thought we would get our individual plates since he asked for two omakase. The food was unseasoned and not good. We ended up spending 400+ and left upset. I was starving and he was sad he had trusted the reviews and chosen this place. There are so many more good places for sea food, I would go elsewhere.

Honestly, I have very mixed feelings about Uchi. This is my second visit here and I was honestly underwhelmed both times. If you love sushi and appreciate the quality of amazing fish, you’ll be disappointed. If you’re here for the kitchen items and a few sushi pieces, you’ll probably like Uchi.
The hand rolls were underwhelming and most of the sushi was okay. I think where Uchi shines is their non sushi menu. Most of the items from the kitchen were great.
For the price (for 3, we spent around $560 including tax and tip- granted we weren’t holding back), I think there are much better options for a pure sushi lover in the DFW area

EDIT: Megan from Uchi reached out and offered to host us at Uchi again to make up for our previous experience - I was able to chat with her in person and she was incredibly kind. Our server was so sweet and helpful, and it really made up for a previously bad experience. The food was fantastic as usual! It was clear that our previous experience was just a one off bad night for them. :)
It really pains me to write a not glowing review for Uchi. The food is fantastic, and maybe we just had a one off bad night with service. We came here for our first wedding anniversary last night and the service really bummed me out. To preface, we have been to Uchi and Uchiba before and have had great service previously. I absolutely love the Shiso Tini from Uchiba, and knew I wanted to at least see if they could make it for me at Uchi, and was completely fine if they couldn’t (I know they are super adamant about not mixing food menus between both restaurants so I knew that may be the case for the cocktail menu too.) When I asked our server if they could make the martini for me, she said they don’t share with Uchiba because of the liquor license. I was kind of confused but also thought she meant that Uchiba had specific liquors and Uchi had different ones so they couldn’t mix (similar to the food menu line of thinking I mentioned earlier.) I quickly glanced at the cocktail menu to see what I wanted instead and asked if they could add vodka to one of the mocktails on the menu because all of the cocktails had sake (I’m not a big sake drinker and I probably should’ve put 2 and 2 together at this point). She sternly told me they don’t serve liquor. It left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth to be borderline scolded by the waitress at the beginning of our meal! The other time we’ve been to Uchi I had wine and didn’t even look at the cocktail menu, and frankly, I don’t remember the last time I went to a restaurant and they didn’t have a liquor license.
The service continued to be just kind of disjointed and awkward. We ended up ordering omakase, and we knew that because of the amount of courses, it tends to be a longer experience which was completely fine. With that being said, we would get 2-3 dishes at the same time and then wait for a while (30ish minutes) between. I think it would have been fine if the dishes were nigiri or sashimi, but it was warm dishes like the hot rock, an octopus dish, etc. that we didn’t want getting cold. I wish they would’ve just paced all of the dishes out so we didn’t get bombarded with a few all at once. At one point, the sushi chef served us a dish, we proceeded to eat about 80% of it with our chopsticks and our server then came up and said “Oh you were supposed to eat that with a spoon” when no one came around and gave us spoons for that course.
I say all of this because when you spend the amount of money we spent on this meal, you expect a certain level of service. We have experienced that level of service at other restaurants like Lucia or Sister, with or without a special occasion and spending half of what we spent at Uchi. The food at Uchi deserves service that matches its caliber and we didn’t get that last night unfortunately. I’m really hoping it was just a one off experience service wise as we truly do love the food!

Amazing! A friend and I went on a work trip to Dallas, and ate dinner here one of the nights. We both love sushi, and this was highly rated so we thought to give it a try. The lobster potstickers were by far our favorite dish, the spicy edamame was so tasty, and we both had rolls for entrées that were excellent as well. Oh, and the cocktails! 10 out of 10 for sure, super interesting flavors and really well crafted drinks. The ambience is super chill, would be a great date night spot, or for happy hour with the gals. As a restaurateur with a deep appreciation for exceptional dining experiences, I must express my utter disbelief and disappointment in my recent visit to Uchi's Dallas location. Having dined at all of their other establishments, I had set my expectations high. I was excited for this meal, but this visit was nothing short of a disaster. Let me save you the agony: if you cherish your experiences at Uchi elsewhere, bypass the Dallas location entirely. You will be *severely* let down.
To begin with, I was flabbergasted to discover that this location does not serve liquor. Yes, you read that correctly—*no* liquor. Only sake. The iconic cocktails that you know and love from other Uchi locations? Completely off the menu. A glaring omission and frankly, an insult to the brand's otherwise sophisticated offerings. How they thought this was an acceptable decision baffles the mind.
Now, let's address the service—or should I say, the complete *absence* of it. At other Uchi locations, you are pampered by attentive, knowledgeable staff who elevate the dining experience. Here, our server seemed visibly burdened by every question we asked, as if we were inconveniencing them simply by being there. And I’ve dined at Uchi numerous times, yet still found myself needing clarification on certain dishes. Imagine the plight of a first-timer who dares to ask about the menu, only to be met with this cold indifference. It was, without exaggeration, a 1/10 for service, and that’s being generous.
What was particularly appalling was the need to repeatedly ask for simple condiments like ponzu sauce. At this price point, these are basics that should come effortlessly. Instead, we were ignored, left unattended, and treated as though we were lucky to even be there. It was downright embarrassing for a restaurant of this supposed caliber.
And then, the final insult: the menu itself. Several signature dishes that Uchi is renowned for—flame-torched beef nigiri, tomato nigiri, bluefin maki—*nowhere* to be found. When we inquired, there was no effort to accommodate or provide alternatives. Even worse, they were out of key items like bluefin chutoro! A top-tier restaurant *running out* of its most prized ingredients? Unthinkable.
But the real tragedy came when the food arrived. How this location manages to serve such flavorless, uninspired dishes while sharing the same name as their counterparts is beyond me. The freshness I’ve come to expect? Nonexistent. Even the dessert—*the iconic Fried Milk*—was a letdown. The usually delicate, pillow-like fried milk balls were stale, lifeless, and nothing short of an insult to my taste buds.
In conclusion, this was not just a bad meal—it was a culinary catastrophe. A restaurant brand should offer consistent menus and signature dishes across all locations to maintain its identity and meet guest expectations. This ensures diners receive the same high-quality experience, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to excellence.
I would advise anyone, even the most devoted Uchi fans, to stay far away from this Dallas location. If you decide to gamble on it, be prepared for utter disappointment.

We recently visited Uchi and unfortunately had a very negative experience. When we arrived, we complimented the hostess on her beautiful necklace, which had a connection to Israel. However, from that moment on, we felt we were treated differently.
Despite having a reservation, we were denied seating inside the restaurant without a clear explanation. We sensed that the issue stemmed from our being Israeli, which made us feel deeply uncomfortable and targeted. This behavior felt discriminatory and left us with the impression that we were unwelcome because of our nationality.
It’s disheartening to face such treatment in a public space, and we sincerely hope that this kind of behavior does not continue. Restaurants should be places where people of all backgrounds feel welcome and respected.
We urge the management to address this issue, as no one should be treated this way based on their nationality or background.

What seemed like a robust (but still quite expensive) Happy Hour menu, became a major disappointment. We tried a sampling of items, salmon nigiri, mushroom skewers, some cubed salmon and mango dish, and the mini burger. Each item was more underwhelming than the next, until we got to the burger, which was MID. We came in with a small appetite and left with it hardly curbed. For the price? Two and a half stars.

Uchi Dallas 7pm reservation September 25
Good afternoon
I am sharing my negative experience as this is my first negative experience at an Uchi restaurant in over 7 years
My guest ordered the hot rocks and I ordered saki toro nigiri.
There was a 40 minute delta between the arrival of my nigiri and my guests hot rocks.
When I I asked our waitress could she check on the order, she became rude and flippant.
After checking, she returned and said there was a private party and most of the guests ordered hot rocks, and that was the reason for the delay. Again in a rude tone.
Her response was puzzling to me.
Our overall impression was our waitress had prior waitress experience, most likely an Applebees type venue.
With that in mind we were able to overlook the initial experiences and her current skillset.
Not the best experience

The food is ridiculously good here. But what really takes it from good to great is the service received from our waiter Trevor. He picked everything we ate and completely nailed it. Alongside exceptional service. Come for the food, but stay for the service. Thanks Trevor!

What an amazing dinner. The chef tasting menu is a steal for the food you get. Friendly staff, chill atmos. Tip ask for wine pairings especially for the star of the evening the flois grass sushi. It was amazing it melted in your mouth and left an amazing flavor. It tickels flavor receptors that I didn't know i had.

The food and service were both EXCEPTIONAL!! I cannot wait to go again. Jamie was so helpful getting us seated and Clint, our server behind the bar, was AMAZING! The wagyu was to die for.

Good food, I’d give everything I tried a 7-7.5/10. Not the best Japanese I’ve had, but it was good. I will say the fried ice cream I got for desert, felt out of place, not a good cap to the flavors of the night, felt more like a desert from a mass market Mexican restaurant. Dunno if I’d go back but I don’t regret my visit.

My personal favorite restaurant in Dallas. Went here recently for an anniversary and birthday and loved everything we ordered. Service is always impeccable. Please listen to recommendations from your server and the chefs :)
Also special thank you to Alison and Chef Daniel for making our experience memorable <3

The food here is fantastic. Also, Uchiba upstairs is great too. Top shelf all around. That said, it can be very hard to get a table --even with a reservation. I've had some snobbish host/hostesses. Guests are often pushing for attention to get seated. Really unusual for friendly Dallas. But, once you get in--it's all great. Great area in Uptown. You should bring your platinum card here. It adds up. Great for work, friends, date night, etc.

Inventive, well prepared, and beautifully plated dishes! Loved everything we ordered. We shared the Zero Sen Makimono, Shag (ended up ordering a second roll because it was so tasty!), the Suzuki Yaki, and Crispy Brussel sprouts Also had the Sake which came out in a wooden box to hold the "overflow" of sake which our server informed us is a sign of Japanese hospitality. Would have gotten desert if I'd had room. If you're a first timer, I would recommend asking your server to describe each dish you're considering because the menu only lists ingredients.

First time without kids in two years so my husband and I went on an adventure and drove to Dallas (over an hour away from our house) and randomly picked a sushi restaurant based on reviews.
We walked in and were not impressed especially because there was not a full bar. We decided to try a couple of dishes and if they weren’t good, we would leave.
We had no idea what to order but Robin saved the day! We told him exactly what we liked and didn’t like and everything he brought was absolutely amazing!
From the pumpkin tempura to the short rib to the sushi to the desserts, it was my favorite meal I’ve ever experienced and I recently ate at a Michelin star restaurant. Robin is not just a server, we felt like he could read our minds. We will be back. I don’t know how anyone can rate this place less than perfect! Drive the hour, it’s worth it!

Uchi Dallas used to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants, a place I would visit frequently with my wife and friends for special occasions. The quality of the food was consistently high, and the staff was always pleasant and attentive. However, my recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed.
About six months ago, I visited Uchi and noticed a decline in the quality of the dishes. I chalked it up to an off night, but when I returned later, the issues persisted. During that visit, I ordered an omakase, and my wife ordered Karaage. Unfortunately, my omakase was served in a rushed manner, with multiple courses delivered back-to-back, leaving me with too many plates in front of me at once. This completely detracted from the experience, which should have been leisurely and refined, especially considering the high price point. My wife’s Karaage was overly salty, and the overall quality of my omakase was far below what I had come to expect from Uchi.
A few days ago, I decided to give Uchi another chance, hoping that the issues were temporary. Unfortunately, the experience was once again disappointing. The service was slow, and the quality of the food has not returned to its former standard. To make matters worse, there was a thick smoke throughout the dining room during my visit, which smelled like something was burning and further diminished the experience.
Uchi Dallas was once a restaurant that others aspired to emulate, but it now feels like a cash grab. As one of the first members of their 801 club and someone who used to visit at least once, sometimes twice, a month, I never wanted things to turn out this way. However, after these repeated disappointments, I no longer feel that Uchi is deserving of another chance.

Thanks for ruining my birthday. I walk in 1 minute late, and apparently my table is already gone, and the only space is at the bar. What was supposed to be a cool birthday dinner turned into 20 minutes crying at the bar. Never even got food.

The Plano location menu fails when compared to their Dallas menu. We will drive to the Dallas location going forward. The Gem salad was over salted and had too much lemon without any balance. The spicy crunchy tuna was inedible with an over abundance of crunchy balls of rice that completely distracted from the taste of the fish. The scallop roll was mediocre and left my spouse with a little bit of heartburn. You need a palate cleanser in between meals. The Albacore tuna was good, and the yellowtail roll was tasty. The wine was acceptable, the green tea was good, the milk and cereal dessert was ok. Service and environment were great. I certainly hope the Plano location will eventually produce food that tastes as good as their Dallas location.

Another phenomenal meal at Uchi.
To start, the food is spectacular.
This was our second time, first time was at a table, this time at the sushi bar. Service was 100% on point - we did the omakase style order again, and we couldn't be more pleased with our server's selections.
We think the service at Uchi is top-notch, the pacing is just right and the servers really know the menu.
This place could be snooty if it wanted to be, but it's not - we find the people who work here to be warm and friendly, and we really love that the restaurant has such nice vibe to it - high end dining with personable service.
The chef working behind the bar periodically checked in with us, as well as made a nice beer recommendation to pair with a dish that had just arrived (it was perfect).
The manager stopped by and chatted with us for minute to answer our questions about Uchiba and couldn't have been nicer.
We were dining for a special occasion, but made an agreement before we left that this would be a regularly scheduled stop for us moving forward.
And again, the food is spectacular.

*This review has been edited as of July 25, 2024 as there was a discrepancy with the date of service and charge amount originally stated in my review. Customer service personally reached out to clarify these issues and I was pleased with the time and care their email team took to communicate with me and is not a reflection of the service I received during dinner.
I had a dinner at this location with a friend in August of 2022. I was recently reminded of our dining experience after discussing the evening with a friend that had similar issues here.
I had a reservation and my guest and I were not seated for over a half hour. We were a party of two and were ignored after being seated at our booth for twenty minutes until someone asked if our orders had been placed yet. At that point we had not been offered water yet or handed a menu. It wasn’t until 45 minutes after being seated that we were asked to put in our order. We had been at the restaurant for over an hour and a half before receiving any kind of food. Wait staff continuously went around to tables adjacent to us but conveniently never checked on us in the corner. It’s so dark inside the restaurant it is difficult to see, and volume is loud. Neither my guest nor I were asked about dietary restrictions or allergies, and empty plates were left on our table as our meal progressed. For the price I paid, I was not impressed at all by service, quality of ingredients, or presentation. Very disappointing visit, perhaps I will visit again if I hear of something groundbreaking.

Me and my husband stopped by here on our final night in Dallas, and had an amazing experience. From the initial welcome, to the atmosphere to the food. Special thanks to our servers LamAnh and Megan (who was shadowing). It’s rare I go somewhere and the food that feels more like an experience. Each dish I was so excited for, and it did not disappoint. LamAnh took the time to talk through the menu with us, gave recommendations and made the whole experience a really enjoyable one. The salmon sashimi, pumpkin tempura and the carrot and smoked ricotta dish were my highlights. I’m also very happy my husband is now a Sashimi fan :) We’ll be coming back next time we’re in town for sure!

Tried many different dishes here, and mostly because our server was recommending them and we just kept on saying yes. To be honest I hardly even remember the dishes we got BUT anything he put on our table was delicious.
The FRIED MILK was 10/10.

Our experience at Uchi was flawless from start to finish. The food was spectacular and the service was incredible - highly recommend asking your server for advice when ordering, because we loved his picks and had fun branching out (also super helpful for ordering the right amount!). Both flounder nigiri options + the pomegranate oysters were real standouts to us, but we enjoyed everything we tried. The atmosphere was upscale but unfussy. Abundant gluten free options and knowledgeable staff on that front. High chairs are available & the baby in our group was able to eat off the menu, too. Pricing is great given the quality of experience. We went to celebrate a birthday and they made the experience really wonderful for us.

If you like to have your very expensive sushi dropped on the table by a different tatted, died and pierced hipster at random intervals starting 45 minutes after ordering then go here. It’s a noisy cafeteria.

Uchi is an unparalleled sashimi haven. Knowledgeable and attentive, Megan effortlessly guided us through the menu during our first visit here, offering expert recommendations tailored to our preferences. We enjoyed the somakase option where your sever can select dishes for you – Megan ensured each tasting arrived at the perfect moment, allowing us to savor every bite without feeling rushed. The highlights for me were the raw and vegetarian prepared dishes: the hama chili and machi cure are out of this world, the Tasmanian trout and striped jack nigiri are melt in your mouth and the crispy tofu roll will make you forget you’re eating a vegetarian dish altogether. The curry lobster and wagyu tataki were lovely but the raw tastings are so unbelievable I now understand why many go for the 100% raw offerings. We had a wonderful experience overall and cannot wait to return!

Been to Uchi 5x now and it's been excellent every time. Great quality, diverse menu, good service, nice ambience. One of the best restaurants in Dallas, would compete even in NY and London. I don't usually like the hot rock wagyu at most places, but here it's worth it, and they have both local and exotic sushi to satisfy a range of sushi palates. If you're overwhelmed, you can't go wrong with the omakase.

Our meal was $1500 before tips. Washroom didn't have paper towels and toilet paper. New waiter took half our order then left for like 45 mins. Then another waitress have to come to take the order. We order the omakase along with other food but when food was brought out no one explain if it was the omakase or the table order. And for an omakase you need to explain each dishes and the chef's inspiration. That's the experience. Unfortunately, it wasnt a good. Cannot give a high star for the prices we paid. If the prices were lower we can forgive certain things.

The service here is great. They are attentive and kind.
The interior is very nice, although I sat at the bar so I was not able to fully appreciated it.
The environment is loud and busy, so just keep that in mind if you're seeking out a more intimate and quiet setting.
The sushi and variety of flavors in all dishes were great. I opted for the happy hour omakase, which provided 8 courses that were great. Most of the dishes were found elsewhere on the menu, and doing some napkin math seemed to suggest that the omakase provided a better value, although you did not get to choose specific items.
If I had to recommend a specific sushi item, the snow crab was probably my favorite. Apparently it is brown butter poached, and that complements the sweetness of the crab perfectly.
Furthermore, their menu appears to be seasonal and updated daily, which is always great (as it suggests consideration for the season, holiday, change in plans based on ingredients, etc). For example, it was peach season when I went, and they had a peach dessert which was one of the best desserts I've ever had.
Overall, it is a great upscale sushi option that you'll likely enjoy, so long as you're aware of the price before going.

If I could eat here every day for the rest of my life, I WOULD. This place from start to finish was an incredible experience! As busy as it was, the valet was fast to meet us and hostess sat us right away. We were seated at the sushi bar and had chef Danny take care of our orders. The waitress was attentive, super informative and friendly. Danny the sushi chef was AMAZING and a pleasure to have spoken with during our meal. He saw we had a hard time deciding so he asked if it was OK to hand select some dishes for us based on a few parameters we'd given him. He did not disappoint. Each dish better than the last, he nailed it. The foie gras, wagyu, yellowtail, fluke, scallop, all of it was mouth watering and practically fell apart in my mouth! The lychee martini was the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot). Hands down my favorite restaurant for food, quality and service. Thank you Uchi and Danny!

Can we talk about how Viralyn downstairs and Richard, Liz, and London upstairs delivered the best customer service we’ve ever received in our lives before we even got a chance to taste the food?
And the food……. unbelievable. Uchi’s reputation is well deserved. It was hard to tell whether their recommendations were great or if everything on the menu is equally divine.
Please keep telling me how to put things in my mouth. Thanks ✌🏼

Went here for an anniversary dinner and it was a great experience. The service was great, even though it was busy. They took the time to review the menu and even let us order two separate times (small plate dining).
The sushi is probably one of the best I’ve had, coming from someone who enjoys a lot of sushi. The fish was very fresh and flown from Japan. The Uni was even fresh, which you don’t see very often. Small plates were very elegant with creativity and tasted amazing. The tapioca desert was so so good.
Even valet service was complementary.
The overall vibes were intimate at a two person table and energizing at the larger tables around. Great atmosphere with dim lights.

I got the wagu a5 plate for $80 and added the $20 caviar. I'm a chef and I understand food cost but 2 to 4 oz of steak for that much is ridiculous the portions were horrible for that much give me at least 8oz your still making money off it. The glaze was sticky and it ruined a steak that nice.

I have been dining at Uchi for years and can’t believe I haven’t left a review! I don’t live in Dallas anymore, but make an effort to come here at least once every time I visit.
Yes, Uchi is pricy but it is WORTH it. The food is so, so good. They have a lot of unique plates and really know how to create complex flavor profiles. I have never had any issues dining here and the servers/staff are always really warm. Some times they even give you an extra dish or dessert on the house, which I don’t know if that is a genius marketing tactic to make you feel appreciated but it’s really nice! Also, if anyone from Uchi is reading this - please add the Strawberry Obashi to your regular dessert menu because this dessert is AMAZING.
The only “downside” is that even if you have a reservation, you typically have to wait a bit for your table. I don’t know that I have ever been seated right away, but they usually offer you a drink while you’re waiting. This isn’t totally in their control and I can’t blame the patrons who take a while because eating here is so enjoyable and the ambiance is really nice.

This restaurant was fantastic, and the food was absolutely incredible. I have dietary restrictions that are severe and difficult to accommodate sometimes, but this team did a fantastic job. I did not feel left out of any part of the meal, and that is really difficult with so many restrictions. Our server was attentive and deliberate with the plates meant for me, and I was able to do the tasting menu with the rest of my table, with some modification. It's worth every penny, and I would happily go back.

Went out to dinner with my girlfriend, we were very excited as we don’t treat ourselves very often. We ordered the Omakase , the whole experience was delicious. Paid over $600 , and after 30 minutes of getting home, we were both vomiting the entire night. Paid for nurses to come give us IV lines. I called management twice the next day with no follow up. Extremely disappointed with this experience. Expect much higher standards from a 5 star restaurant and hundreds of dollars down the toilet. Literally.
Would not recommend , not worth it.

The food was excellent as most people have commented. My Gf and I were visiting Dallas and went without a reservation, luckily we got a great spot at the bar and if I went back I'd do the same. In addition to great food the service was even better! The bartenders gave great recommendations without being pushy and really listened to us to figure out what we might like. At one point towards the end they brought us the fried lions mane and comped it because they said it took too long. We weren't bothered by the wait as it had gotten very busy and we are pretty realistic in our expectations. Service and attention to detail is very rare to find and really helps to create a real complete dining experience. My only wish is that everyone gets the same experience because they really helped to create a wonderful memory for me.
