Good food, high quality. Rolls are really large so if that’s your thing then you’re in for it. I prefer to stick with nigiri.
Best shrimp tempura in Austin and would like to see them expand their tempura offering/options.

My wife and I come here every month for their Omakase and we're never disappointed. Not only do they use very high quality fish (much of it imported from Toyosu in Tokyo) but chef Kane has a way with flavors and is always cooking up new and delicious additions to his Omakase course. We've had sushi from all over including Michelin star restaurants in Tokyo and Beverly Hills and Kane is up there with the best of them and at a price that is very reasonable for the quality.
As if that wasn't enough the ambiance and service are both fantastic. The vibe definitely reminds us of sushi restaurants in Japan, and Lisa (chef Kane's wife) is always attentive and even provides cultural and culinary context to the various dishes they serve.
I can't recommend Kane enough!

Amazing food. We have been here thrice within 2 months and each meal has been exceptional. We went this time for my birthday and booked the Omakase experience. Food was outstanding, within those 15+ courses was a memorable oyster dish, delightful scallop and delicious cod. I even discovered an excellent Sake brewed in USA.
The Chefs wife led the service which was discreet but exceptional. The multi layered crepe cake made by the Chefs daughter is worth it by itself. Fish is flown in from Japan and each course during omakase was unique and flavorful.
Highly highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back again…

Kane was an absolute delight. The ambience is stunning and every detail seems to have been carefully considered. The sushi was all fresh, plentiful and delicious. The service was attentive, thoughtful and warm. We are so happy to have Kane as a sushi opinion in Cedar Park. Keep up the great work- we will be back!

Kane exceeded our expectations. You walk in and the ambiance is so different, you feel like you’re in a high end restaurant in Japan. The staff was so kind and helpful when deciding what to order. We had one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten, and will definitely be back (next time for omakase). Our server recommended the striped jack (nigiri) and it did not disappoint. All of the fish was to die for. The yuzu sorbet should not be missed either☺️

Our Omakase experience was about an hour and a half long and while the cuts of fish were huge (which was appreciated), the rice was a bit too cold and a few bites of fish were still a bit too cold as well which held back the flavor. You could tell that Chef Kane strives to be the best he can be but there was a bit of disorganized tension behind the counter as other chefs were trying to maneuver around each other. Service staff were kind and caring and were eager to tell the story of their imported sake cups which was fun.
For the price I would say it was worth it, but the execution of the omakase wasn’t as well orchestrated or as polished as other omakases we’ve been to.

It was our first time visiting Kane, and we were blown away! We tried a little bit of everything—edamame, fried chicken, the Big Toro Roll (an absolute must-try), ramen, the KT Special, and the matcha tiramisu for dessert. Every dish was exceptional, beautifully prepared, and you could tell it was made with love. The flavors were spot on, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out.
The Big Toro Roll, in particular, stole the show—it’s worth visiting Kane for that alone. The matcha tiramisu was a perfect way to end the meal, light yet full of flavor.
The ambiance and attention to detail made the experience even better. We can’t wait to go back and explore more of their menu!

We are huge sushi lovers and Kane managed to usurp our favorite “easy enough to get a seat” spot. My fiancé died over the uni pasta and was happy to admit the sushi was on par if not better than most of our other Austin/Cedar Park favorites. We will definitely be back to try the omakase and honestly probably everything else.

Overall, the sushi at Kane was delicious! However, we went for their omakase and it was by far the most rushed omakase I’ve ever been to (sushi bar, tsuke edomae, toshokan, etc). The entire experience was done in 40 minutes! The second we finished one bite, chef was waiting with another.
I would return, but for a la carte. At this price point, I expect a relaxing omakase, and would also prefer it to be more informative (sources, methods, history of chef and restaurant, etc)

Kane is a fantastic spot for sushi. It’s an inviting space that’s reminiscent of the old school sushi bars from my youth. The service is prompt and attentive.
They do a great job with their sushi. The nigiri is a fair size and rolls were all delicious. We also got their pork tonkotsu which was also well made. I still dream about their crepe cake and matcha tiramisu.
I wish this spot was in our driving triangle and closer to home—we’d be here all the time. High value and highly recommended!

So disappointed, the server stood next to our table HOUNDING and pressuring us to order. Didn’t even get to enjoy our drinks or conversations. Food came to the table all different times. But most importantly, we ordered a $55 bottle of wine and the MOMENT… I took my last sip… they kicked out entire table out 1 hour and 15 minutes into our dinner??? Worst $200 I’ve spent to be rudely kicked out. If someone is a high paying table, ordered an entire bottle… I would be asking how they enjoyed it and if they would like another. Not asking me to leave mid conversation with my guests. Don’t go here if you want to enjoy your time.

Amazing dinner. Sat at the sushi bar with my mom. The surrounding diners were all nodding their head in approval of what they were eating. The couple next to us told us to just trust the chef(which we later found out was Kane himself). We did and the pieces he brought out were top notch. This was just two rounds so not exactly an omakase but was like a little sample of an omakase. We were ordering on the menu as well. One this that stood out was the value of the o-toro nigiri. Amazing quality + uni+ good caviar. This was a $12 bite but I have had the exact same nigiri in other sushi spots for $20-$28. Another favorite was the scallop nigiri. The wait staff was also extremely attentive and respectful. Hot towels. Taking plates away immediately. Everything was a 5 star experience.

The big toro is worth the price. It is one of the best rolls I've ever had. The only place I've been around the area that does oshizuchi, the saba is great, they offered kombu, which I definitely recommend. Gotta try the uni pasta next time I go, the table next to us had it and it looked great. Is reservation only, but can usually book a day or two out.

My husband and I have been to Japan, and we have tried multiple Michelin-starred restaurants there as well as in the US & in Europe. In Austin, we have been to Uchi, Soto, Sushi Moto, Sushi Fever & Tomodachi but Kane has become our go-to sushi restaurant after only trying it once. A 10/10 experience if I've ever seen one.
Sushi: We always get omakase when we go here and it is always such a revelatory experience. The fish is so quintessentially fresh, it's actually wild. It's only *slightly* below the quality and freshness of fish we've eaten in Japan (outside of some pieces you straight up can't get outside of Japan), which is saying a lot. Plus, Chef Kane is the master of flavors and I always appreciate the new & innovative dishes he puts forth that challenges the status quo in sushi. Curried blue crab? Smoked hamachi? Ankimo topped with pickled ginger? The flavors are beyond, and I'm obsessed.
Service: The service is attentive, especially for omakase. You will be seated facing Chef Kane and can watch him prepare your next dish, which is truly a delight to behold. The Japanese plates, bowls & sake sets they use are absolutely stunning, I'm often left feeling gobsmacked by how gorgeous they are. They are all purchased in Japan (Chef Kane and his family visit Japan every year to see family) and you can tell. Personally, it’s a sushi experience you don't often see in Texas. Highly recommend!
Atmosphere: One of my favorite parts of Kane is how much it reminded us of sushi restaurants we've been to in Japan. The interior design is visibly inspired by modern Japanese interiors. It's warm, cozy, open and comforting.
All that to say, run to Kane. Thank us later.

The first issue was, we had reservations that were rescheduled by us from the week before, but we weren't on their list. Second, since we had 4 people, our seating options were limited to bar or the most uncomfortable seating, (hint, don't wear a dress). Food was ok but nothing as delicious as we have at home. However, service was excellent!

This is TRULY a unique dining experience. I’ve had plenty of fancy, usually overpriced sushi dinners. This wasn’t that. This was art made by a master. We enjoyed the omakase experience and it was heavenly. Every piece of food was expertly made. Even things I normally don’t like, I tried and enjoyed. It is hard to explain how deeply quality this place feels. From the chairs you sit in, the plates you eat from and the servers who tend to you. World class. I can’t believe it’s in freakin cedar park. We’re so lucky.

Would’ve loved to have tried this place. Tried doing reservations but was told
I had to come in to do that. I came in asked for a table and was asked how many. Once the person saw I had my baby she said they were all booked up. We tried to set reservations then and were told to try in a week. Didn’t make any sense to us.

I’m not a fish expert but I think the sashimi there wasn’t bad. The deep fried chicken didn’t taste too much like Japanese style though. And I was a bit disappointed with the tiramisu. It doesn’t stand at all. Felt like they put too much cream rather than mascarpone in it to save cost. If there’s barely any mascarpone and no lady fingers, it’s hard to call it tiramisu

We made a last minute reservation here and it ended up being the best sushi we’ve had in a long time. The quality of the sushi and service were better than what we’ve had at Uchiko, Uchi, etc. The chef Kane prepares all of the food for people ordering Omakase was incredibly friendly and the food was superb. I’m hesitant to share how good it was because the location is small and it could easily turn into a spot that is difficult to visit.

Update from 6/14/24: Confirmed, this place is 5 stars.
Previous review:
This place is excellent. From the warm towel you get at the beginning to the package with your to-go food at the end. This is a small spot with very high quality food. We tried the Dragon, Spice tuna (Spicy Tataki) and Lion King rolls with some miso soup. All of them excellent. We will come back for more. Make a reservation is very recommendable due to the small space. If you like sushi you will be happy here.
Pros: The food, the place and the service
Cons: Not much to say here

I must admit that I have never given a place a perfect rating of 5/5 before. However, this establishment is an absolute must-visit. Furthermore, its location in Cedar Park makes it even more appealing. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys sushi and other Japanese-style cuisine.
We began our meal with the Chicken Karage and Tempura Shrimp. While the Chicken Karage did not quite meet my expectations, the Tempura Shrimp was truly exceptional. The light breading and perfect frying technique made for a delightful culinary experience. For our main course, we indulged in an assortment of sushi rolls. The freshness of the fish was evident in every bite, and I have no complaints whatsoever. To conclude our meal, we savored both the Matcha Tiramisu and the Crepe Cake. Both desserts were absolutely delicious.
If you find yourself in the vicinity, I strongly encourage you to try this establishment. I am confident that you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance and arriving a bit early to ensure a seamless dining experience. It is with great pleasure that I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Beautifully decorated and sushi chefs wearing Japanese attire to impress.
Maybe the food is not bad. My low review is for lack of authenticity.
In my opinion, the reason why Japanese foods are pricy is because of the attention to details.
This place came short. Rice for the sushi was not very good. It was wet and hard at the same time, lake of flavor and was in a weird shape. Fish was good but also not cut well. And because of these reasons the sushi was not so good.
Menu is huge but they didn’t care much about the timing for the dishes.
Waiters were… untrained and a bit hectic. They also didn’t stop us from over ordering (even thought I asked if we ordered too much) which is a bit of red flag for me.
Over all, I would might come back with my American friends but not my Japanese friends if you know what I mean.

Really loved the sushi and the dessert. I think they come at par to what you can get in Asia.
The hot food was a bit disappointing - still good compared to a typical Japanese restaurant in Austin, but with how good the sushi was I think the the hot food could be better.
Had high hopes with the uni pasta from the reviews but I personally found it a bit bland. The tempura shrimp had too much batter to shrimp ratio.
With that said, I still give them 5 stars when compared to most other JP spots in the US and will definitely go back.

It's a crime to be such a good restaurant. How can you offer such quality food, such service for such a tiny price tag? This is highly addictive. You won't even be able to think of another restaurant. I thought for a long time whether to leave a review. Because I just don’t want to share this with anyone. But in the end I decided that people should know their heroes

One of the best sushi I’ve had in Austin. I’ll be back to try everything else on the menu. Dishes are fresh and generously portioned.
What we ordered (and will order again):
Fresh scallops
Uni pasta
Big toro roll
Hamachi
Salmon belly
Crepe cake
You’re giving warm towels for your hands at the beginning of the meal. About 11 tables and 10 seats at the bar

This was one of the most disappointing sushi experiences we've had in a long time. The marketing team gets an A+ because we really thought Cedar Park would have something extraordinary in this sushi restaurant. The good, we were seating promptly at our reservation time and our server was attentive even as she watched the timing nightmares unfold, nothing was her fault. We were seated in a location that you could not get into or out of the chair without climbing over the back, a slight movement and one would hit the diner behind them.
The food...the vegetable tempura was actually potato latkes, fried and incredibly filling but nothing resembling tempura. The Hamachi Kama was good but felt like eating a fried collar since having the cheek offered as sashimi before the fry wasn't an option. We sat for an hour waiting on our 5 sashimi orders, the chefs were only interested in making rolls and kept pushing our ticket aside. The server finally asked about our dish and he begrudgingly sliced the pieces thick, and put in on a plate with no sauce and all had the same roe and ginger on top. Therefore, every piece tasted the same and I'm not quite sure how tamago can be gray color or why the ankimo was ordered an hour later and showed up first with the only redeeming quality about it being the pickled onions.
Kanes is incredibly pricy and appears to be just another place to get rolls. Perhaps when they hire passionate and trained sushi chefs who can pair sashimi with proper sauces and complementary flavors the restaurant can get on the right track.

I almost don’t want to leave a review because I don’t want it to be hard to get a reservation! 😅
We had the best omakase experience at KANE sushi served by Chef Kane himself. It was an unforgettable birthday dinner!
Atmosphere is 5 stars. Love the soft lighting and slatted wood interiors. Dinnerware was delicate, functional, and clearly from Japan.
Service was nothing short of amazing. Chef Kane and his wife Lisa were attentive to all our needs. They’re also both really sweet and approachable. You can tell they really care about the customer’s experience.
Now FOOD. If you book omakase, come HUNGRY. I nearly could not finish. You will leave stuffed. The qualify of the fish is evident at first bite. They receive their fish from Japan every Wednesday and Saturday.
I’m looking forward to returning to try their kaiseiki meal!
As Chef Kane says, “Good choice.”

The food was average. Honestly had higher expectations given the hype for this place. Some of the rolls we ordered were submerged in sauce plus falling apart and looked like it was made by a HEB level sushi chef. Doubt I will return for a $200 meal… plenty of great sushi options in Austin.

I went on the second day they were opened and have been a repeat customer. Although new, the service was excellent and the waitress was very friendly to us. There was some kinks for sure with a new restaurant as in the food would take some time to come out, other than that I’ve been going to Kane for the last couple months they’ve been open and they’ve stayed busy!
I’ve tried pretty much the whole menu at this point and go here once a week. Here is my must order dishes- Hamachi carpaccio (18 bucks and easily one of the largest and tastiest ones in Austin)
Uni pasta (large large portion tho depending on the day may not be my goto since it is a very rich dish)
The iberico pork katsu (best katsu I’ve ever had in Austin but sadly only 5 per day and very limited availability!)
The uni nigiri- the Santa Barbara uni is really fresh and high quality.
Nameko miso soup
Matcha Tiramisu (again also sells out fast so I usually tell them straight up I want them to reserve it for me when I walk in)
minor critiques- when I first went the fish size was alittle inconsistent and often times the rice was as well. But the last couple times I’ve visited I noticed they improved ratios and the high quality rice is perfectly cooked!
The reservation only system is odd for cedar park but it seems like it’s because they’re at very limited capacity at such a small restaurant. Lots of people have been giving them a hard time for it, but I usually make a resy on their website for the week of with no issues.
For background, I have tried every sushi spot in Austin basically. I would say what makes this one special is they use a different fish supplier than most spots here that use Minamoto and you can taste the difference trust me.

I am so happy to leave a review for this lovely little gem. Some friends of mine suggested we check this new place out. When you first walk in, you are greeted by a quaint little seating area. Then, as you round the corner to the dining area, warmth from the wood and perfect lighting greet you. As many who have read my reviews know, I am unwillingly gluten free. What do you do? It is what it is. Needless to say, exploring a new restaurant is a little stressful. I have to tell you, this place delivered. Lisa, our server, was attentive and conscientious of my needs and the needs of the people I was dining with. My husband said the spider roll was cooked to perfection. He said it reminded him of a po boy Asian style. It was fried to perfection and hit all of the flavor notes that one is craving in a roll. I had a crab delux roll that was made with real crab which spoke to my soul. Lisa even asked the chef to make a roll just for me. We laughed and called it the celebrity roll. The food was fresh and we were all stuffed. I especially love that they paid attention to little details like a saki box with steamy delicious saki. Lisa explained that the wood helps add to the flavor and notes of the saki. I fell in love with the chef when he fired up my roll with a large torch. Cedar Park has gotten themselves a causal and upscale dining experience all rolled into one (no pun intended). We plan on coming back again.

Uni pasta was quite disappointing. The taste was bland and the pasta was overcooked.
Nice environment. Sushi and katsu were good.

Fantastic dinner for my wife and I. Super clean, fresh, tasty. On par with the best sushi places I've been out in the Bay area in CA.

Enjoyed a late Thanksgiving feast with the family at Kane, the new sushi hotspot near us. I made a reservation for the omakase for three of us today, and we were in for a treat, because we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. We loved the unexpected private dining experience. Our omakase already came with 15-course meal, but the owners still included complimentary delights like raw oysters, stinky tofu, fish pate, and fermented squid to pair with our hot sake. Their portion sizes were generous. We left feeling so satisfied and stuffed. We had to request to cut down in the portion towards the end because we were so full. We also had a fantastic time getting to know the chefs (Kane and Kelvin) and his wife Lisa. We got to hear all about their 30 years making sushi, how they pick their ingredients, and all about their fancy Japanese gear and furniture. It was so authentically awesome! If you’re looking for delicious sashimi and nigiri, I highly recommend Kane restaurant. Their ingredients are fresh and high quality, and their customers were impressive. I’m so happy we have a good sushi near Leander.

High quality food. Both fish and food are high quality and carefully thought out. The matcha tiramisu is delicious and a must try!

My favourite sushi place here in Austin!

Hmm this is a hard one. The ingredients themselves are very high end but the combination of flavors wasn’t great. Sure there’s gold leaf, caviar, uni, and o toro for a good price but the combinations that made each bite was disappointing. It lacked balance and creativity. But in general good price so maybe give it a try.

Highly , highly , highly recommend this restaurant! We celebrated a daughter's Birthday on a Sunday night and had the best Sushi 🍣 🍱 , tempura, 🍜 , Japanese chicken parmigiana ( for the child who does not eat fish ) and desserts. Will definitely return and check out the sushi bar 😉

Chef worked us in tonight without an actual Omakase reservation and it was fantastic! Portions are HUGE so come hungry. Fish was fresh. Small place and the atmosphere is cozy. Was dinner and a show watching the chefs prepare while we had our experience. We will be back!

What a lovely place! The food was amazing and the service matched that level. Our party of four had a fantastic night, the prices were well below other high-end Japanese restaurants we've been to. We will return here many times!!!

The salmon was fresh, and it was a big bite for $4. I will definitely be ordering it again if I ever return.
I specifically came for their chutoro nigiri that comes with uni, caviar, and truffle shavings. I showed the photo to my server, and she assured me my piece will be prepared the same way. However, mine came without truffle shavings, which was the topping that I think would have made the most difference. I asked, and she said they're out. That's okay, but it also had 4 pieces of connective tissue that I had to spit out because I couldn't chew through them. I pointed them out to the server (sorry the photo is gross), and they did not make any attempt to remedy the situation.
The uni pasta is quite large in portion and the sauce tastes pretty good. I prefer the creamier version at Soto, but this is not bad. The piece of fresh uni on top, however, was so bitter it was borderline inedible. So maybe they are still working on quality control issues.
This review, though not stellar, is only based on the 3 items I had tonight. It's a relatively new restaurant, so maybe they will work out their kinks and improve in the future. In my opinion, this place is on par with Haru, a step under Tomodachi and Soto.

The sushi is nothing short of spectacular. Everything was so fresh and presentation was beautiful!
Service is exemplary; they go above and beyond to ensure your meal is perfect. Their recommendations were excellent.
I really appreciate a family owned business and that’s exactly how we were treated- like family! We will be back and highly recommend Kane.

From the moment we stepped into KANE, we were greeted with the kind of warm, attentive service that makes a dining experience unforgettable. The restaurant's ambiance struck a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication, setting the stage for what was to be an exceptional sushi feast.
We indulged in an array of nigiri, each piece more delectable than the last. The quality of the fish was nothing short of superb, with each slice boasting a freshness that could only be the result of meticulous sourcing. The rice was seasoned to perfection, its delicate vinegar tang complementing the fish's natural flavors beautifully.
The spider roll was a delightful surprise, its soft-shell crab tempura providing a satisfying crunch and depth of flavor, while the otoro roll was a luxurious journey for the palate. The fatty tuna melted away like butter, leaving behind a richness that was expertly cut through with the roll's subtle accompaniments.
KANE's staff deserve a special mention for their stellar service. They were not only prompt and professional but also displayed a genuine passion for their work, enriching our dining experience with their knowledge and recommendations.
In conclusion, KANE stands out as a beacon of culinary excellence in Cedar Park. It's a place where every dish served is a celebration of the art of sushi. For anyone looking to savor sushi at its finest, KANE is, without doubt, a destination that promises—and delivers—a five-star experience.- ChatGPT -me

Sushi was fresh and portions were large. Service was also excellent. If you like edamame try the garlic version, it was delicious! I think the lights could've been dimmed a bit more for a more romantic experience, but we liked the ambience.

Absolutely amazing Japanese food, and such a beautiful restaurant! I've spent time in Japan and have to say that this is probably the best Japanese food that I've had outside of the country. Hands down this is the best restaurant in Cedar Park, and on par with Uchiko. I was able to easily make a reservation and was seated straight away. The service was very gracious and attentive my entire visit. すごい!

So I'm pretty sure this is the best sushi I've had in Cedar Park and maybe even Austin for quite some time. The food was really amazing, fresh and we were really surprised at how good the quality was.
I think where this place is still figuring itself out is in the service. The wait staff acknowledged that there was long wait times and that the service wasn't to the level that they were trying to achieve and as a result they gave me a free sake and apologized multiple times for everything taking so long. That being said, I'm sure they're going to work out these issues and this place will become a gem.
I was really torn between four and five stars and I have to give them four stars because the service still needs work. But overall we were not disappointed in any one of the dishes that we ordered and it was all reasonable and well priced given the quality that was in the sushi and other dishes.
We frequent sushi places in Cedar Park and North Austin and I firmly believe that this is going to be a really, really good spot. Overall, the decor is really nice. The fish was very high quality and overall it was a very good experience. I will definitely be returning here again.
To KANE: Just tighten up that service and wait staff and you got a top tier spot here. Your decor is unique and your fish is really really good. I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll improve. Good luck!!

"After reading some overwhelmingly positive reviews and being enticed by the restaurant's appealing decor, we decided to give it a try. However, our experience left us far from satisfied. The Ankimo (fish liver) was as hard as a rock, and the accompanying sauce was bland. On the bright side, the sushi was exceptionally fresh.
The real disappointment came with the Waygu fried rice. To our dismay, it turned out to be more of a culinary joke than a dish. We dug through it in hopes of finding any Waygu beef meats , but all we found were chunks of fat. You can see the evidence in the picture we took.
While we were sharing our honest thoughts about the meal, a middle-aged waitress with curly hair passed by and inquired about our dining experience. We didn't hold back and told her it wasn't very good, primarily due to the absence of Waygu meat in the rice. Much to our surprise, she retorted rapidly, exclaiming, "That's what Waygu is like, right?!" She then promptly walked away, seemingly to avoid any further conversation.
We had waygu all the time , and we know what waygu is like.
Her statement only shows how incompetent she is, besides being disrespectful. Why ask customers how they like their food when you don't give a damn about how their feedback ?
Never will I recommend this restaurant, its food and service certainly doesn't add up to their pricey menu with at par quality of food.

We had the best experience ever! Amazing food. Stunning ambiance. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into every aspect of the dining experience.

We had an overall very positive experience eating at KANE. They still have some bumps to smooth out as a new restaurant, but we will definitely be back.
FOOD: Most of the food was excellent but a couple items were subpar. Most items were reasonably priced but some felt very expensive.
We ordered two appetizers, the gyoza ($8) was excellent with good flavor and delicious sauce but the harumaki ($8) wasn't worth it because the fried flavor overwhelmed everything else and we didn't like the sauce.
We ordered three sushi rolls. Our absolute favorite item of the entire meal was Sue's Crunch roll ($12) which was absolutely delectable and a reasonable price. The Volcano roll ($22) was good but too expensive. The Bernie roll ($18) was a miss for us as the sauces overwhelmed the other flavors in the roll.
We asked for two orders of king salmon nigiri. I was hoping it would be two pieces per order like other restaurants but it was $7 per piece. That said, it was delicious! The last time I was able to find king salmon locally was over a decade ago so I may still order this occasionally as a treat. Unfortunately, all of the nigiri seemed more expensive than other local restaurants. I also did not see any nigiri platters (chef's selection) on the menu to help bring down the cost.
Fresh wasabi was the best I've ever had but at $12 for a thumbnail sized dollop I don't know if I can bring myself to order again.
SERVICE: Staff was very friendly which is the most important factor for me. They seemed stretched too thin, though. They were a little slow bringing drinks and taking orders. I didn't get a water refill until the end of the meal. Our appetizers arrived out of order with the rest of the meal but that didn't bother us much.
ATMOSPHERE: Excellent with nice lighting, quiet ambiance, comfortable seating, and tables that are spaced out from each other, all of which is so much better than other sushi places I've been to. The only negative thing I can say is that the empty seats at the bar were still covered with used dishes for quite a while as if they were having trouble keeping up with clearing them away, which slightly detracts from the ambiance for me.

We showed up with reso and unfortunately they were taking reso only so we made one for the next day which they had an opening. So we showed up the next day and they didn’t have our reso which was abit upsetting, after abit they were so kind to fit us in. The service and staff was great! Love the decor at this place just absolutely beautiful. I can sit and eat and just look around. I love how all seats face the sushi chef so everyone can see them making sushi. The sushi chef take real pride in what their doing. The food was really good as well I loved the salmon & hamachi belly. The spider rolls is always a favorite for me and it was done right. I had the spicy scallop hand roll which was overfilled with scallops which was awesome. The negihama roll was to die for so fresh and buttery just melts in your mouth. I liked the edamame twist where it was stir fried in garlic. I love uni anything but unfortunately the uni pasta didn’t do it for me. It was abit dry and flavorless, no uni flavor at all unless you ate the uni piece on top. The prices were pretty reasonable. I will definitely be going back here. Can’t wait!!!

My fellow Austinites, in the quest for an exceptional sushi venue that surpasses the likes of Uchi/Uchiko, not just in taste but in ambiance and value, your search ends at KANE. This quaint, family-operated establishment has recently opened its doors at the time of penning down this review, offering a serene dining experience.
For the aficionados of sushi and sashimi who often find the overly-sauced offerings of other local joints unsavory, KANE stands out by getting everything just right.
On a venture to try something fresh in the city, my spouse and I landed here and the experience was a delightful surprise. However, a word of patience is in order—as noted by others, service might take a tad longer given they've been operational for merely a fortnight.
For those venturing here for the first time, I'd recommend immersing in the bar dining experience. Although we opted for the regular tables, in hindsight, the bar would have been more engaging. It provides a front-row seat to the culinary artistry unfolding right before your eyes—from precise filleting of fish to the mesmerizing torching of salmon, it’s a spectacle worth every moment.
One notable mention is the hearty portion sizes. Unlike some establishments that skim on servings, KANE is generous, ensuring you get value for your money.
I urge you to venture forth and lend your support to this family-run venture.
At present, they are accommodating diners by reservation only, ensuring a gratifying experience is delivered with each visit.

I am Japanese, and I was excited to try this place since it looked so authentic. We had a reservation but no one acknowledged us at the host stand until their phone rang. We then sat down at our table and placed our orders after waiting a while. We noticed that it was quite dysfunctional: orders were being taken to wrong tables, waitstaff were running into each other, and we kept getting told that our food will be out in 15 minutes. Two hours later, I had to tell our waiter to cancel whatever hasn’t been made because we needed to get home. We only ended up receiving three pieces of nigiri (plus two on the house for waiting so long). We had also ordered an appetizer (that turned out to be out of stock), two miso soups, and a few rolls that never made it out. Other tables seemed to be getting frustrated as well. We checked out and got tacos after because we were still so hungry.
We drove an hour to try this restaurant. I really hope that night was a one-off because they have such great reviews. The few bites of sushi I had were some of the best I ever had. I may try this place again, but they need to take some time to figure out their efficiency and speed. It’s a beautiful restaurant that has so much potential.

Waited nearly two hours and received 1 part of the order. Then we were only told at that point they weren’t able to make the starter we ordered. This place has a ton of potential if they can hire the right people and develop a system. I would give it ample time before dedicating your entire night to sitting around and wondering “what is happening and why is no one helping us.”

We were blown away by the quality of sushi, ambience and customer service. We sat at the bar tonight and was informed right away by Kane-san ( owner) that he only had some types of fish left and was very sorry about that. We told him he could serve us whatever he wanted with the selection he had at the time. They turned out to be the best sushi we have had in Austin. Period. Plus he made it feel like an omakase experience. He also gave us some freebies to try 🥹 They also share with us the quality of the rice, seaweed and charcoal they use. I cannot recommend this place enough. I don’t usually write comments but I’ve got to this time. Wednesday is their delivery date. However I still got the best treatment on Monday. They are still in soft opening so please be patient and make reservation.

The decor and ambiance is wonderful and service was wonderful. Be advised that it is reservations only right now and they are still working out some kinks so there may be a wait at times but it is totally worth it!! We tried the hand rolls, volcano roll and uni pasta and wagyu fried rice.
Everything is good but we loved the hand rolls. We will be back for the omakase! Sitting at the sushi bar was a lot of fun and it was great to interact with the sushi chefs who were absolutely a joy.
