Masu Sushi & Hibachi

We have been going to this restaurant for many years but after yesterday’s visit I was compelled to leave a review. Bryan, Nathan and John were so attentive and kind. It was by far the best service we have ever had here. We missed seeing Gino but this staff is amazing!!!

Masu was very good, a bit on the expensive side ($180 for three for us May 2023) but the food and the show well met expectations and we had lots of leftovers. The Dragon Ball appetizer was a favorite along with the Masu meal for two we were stuffed! We went to celebrate a birthday and shared the table with a mother and children for Mother’s Day. The hibachi chef Brian was awesome! I have been to a lot of hibachi and was still shown some new tricks and techniques during the meal! Would return again! (Especially with a coupon if they have them or for the cheaper lunch menu!)

Cina was our waitress and she was very attentive. They changed the menu and no longer charge extra for fried rice. I was also happy to see they no longer include the tip on the bill. I'll be back more often now.

It was my mom and brother’s first time having hibachi and they loved it. The food was really good and the service was really fast. They are also willing to accommodate and take reservations if you call ahead. I had the shrimp fried rice with steak and chicken. It was a huge portion even to be the lunch special. This was my first time trying the melon saki, which was really tasty as well. I will be back. Also, they add a gratuity to a party 6 of more, but they do advise you of this before you pay.

The food quality was great and the chef did the usual things you do at a hibachi restaurants. $83 including tip for 2 people with 2 item combo each. I was a tad taken aback by the $2.50 per person charge for fried rice… overall, I’m not sure it was worth what we paid for just lunch on a Sunday.

My daughter was getting married.We had the rehearsal dinner there The restaurant didn't turn the air on made us all sweat. Until the cook started, cooking was like twenty minutes after week out there. I can't stress enough.It was so hot. Everyone was in suits, ties and big dresses. Very uncomfortable. We thought the air conditioner was broken.Literally turned it on right as they started cooking. Food was very good chef was amazing.

Try to make a reservation on a Tuesday night for 14 people was told I would have to make a $10 deposit per person $140 deposit just to make a reservation. No way I was going to pay $140 to just make a reservation. I said we will just show up at seven and hopefully get a table and he told me we will not serve you. They just lost a very good customer.

The food was excellent, a lot of variety of cooked sushi rolls (ideal for pregnancy cravings), great pricing especially for the portion sizes and the staff was very kind. Will be back to try the hibachi next time

I tried their new Omakase. The price was quite reasonable compared to other Omakase. The quality and the taste blew my mind. I would highly recommend it to anyone

I cannot say enough good things about this place!!
I’ll start with the service! Lunch crew was awesome! Hibachi crew was excellent! Hostess and welcoming staff were on point! You need to come have lunch here! The fooooood! OMG! It’s been a while since I’ve had some fantastic sushi!! It was everything and MORE! From the entertainment to the vibes and their mannerism, I was very impressed.

If you’re out in Carrolton, come check them out. It’s a very low key setting, perfect to unwind for a bit while out in lunch. Bonus points if you bring friends!

We've been multiple times for hibachi and get sushi to go on a regular basis. Everything has been great every time. We personally love multiple riceless rolls, miso soup, and the heaven special. For hibachi you can't go wrong with the filet and scallops!

My son and I stopped in last minute for dinner at 6 pm on Saturday. The Sushi side was busy, but we went to the Hibachi side that was less busy. Like almost empty but that was great for us. It was early and more people were coming in as we left. We were attended to quickly our server was very nice and efficient. Our hibachi cook was a lot of fun and was engaging everyone at the table. Food was good. And generous portions. We both had food to take home and that rarely happens with a teenager.

Me and my family went in looking for sushi. Me specifically, Chicken Tempura. After verifying the absence of what I was looking for. We decided to go to the Hibachi table. It was delicious. My salmon was juicy, full of flavors. My sister's filet mignon was cooked to perfection according to her request.

Definitely recommend for the food and experience. We walked in for lunch on a week day and promptly got seated for hibachi . The sushi side seemed busy. We were a group of 8- 3 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 kids. Chef Bryan did a wonderful hibachi experience and we loved it. Staff was friendly. We got 4 lunch combo with fillet mignon , chicken, fried rice and staff recommend Japanese soda. We also got a serving of sushi. 4 meals was plenty for us. Cost about 50 per meal. They give a small serving of soup and salad. Everything tasted good and kids enjoyed the experience. Place is clean and neat.

We order the combo shrimp and scallops and chicken and the chef gave the rest of the group that didn’t order shirmp and chicken so we only have 6 shrimps and 3 scallops and 2 pieces of chicken and we pay $87 it’s a rip off !! It’s no worth it!!!we are very disappointed I will not comeback to this place again

Our chef Gino Rosario was amazing. He made us all laugh including my 7yo son. Loved the customer service from everyone. I will say it is pricey. 2 adults one child on a Sunday came out to $162. 18% tip is automatically added to your bill fyi, wish i would have known that or atleast disclose it in menu. Also if you opt for fried rice its a $3.5 additional charge. Over all we enjoyed out experience thats to our chef

Masu has been a great spot for us. I'm not big on the sushi there (but I'm Spoiled by Mr Sushi), but the hibachi grill is great.

I typically double up on soup instead of the salad and just sip it, and start off with the vegetable tempura. The show is what you expect at a teppan grill, but the food is actually pretty good.

Expect leftovers unless you're insatiable as the portions are a good size.

I have been ordering sushi from here for the past 3 years and just got my order today 02/28/24 and I saw something moving on the rainbow roll and it is a worm 🪱 I wish I can add pictures for it plz be carefull when eating I was very disappointed. I hope I don't get sick!!! It's disgusting!!!

Great place for hibachi and sushi. The staff is excellent and was very attentive. Our hibachi chef was one of the best I have had at any hibachi restaurant. My brother ordered scallops and they were YUGE. We left with full belly's and a smile on our face. I would visit again if I make it back to the area.

Very disappointed. Service was slow if non existent. A bus girl or server assistant wandered around and looked lost. She could not understand when we asked for some tea. The tea never came. The dining area smelled of cleaning odors. That’s very sad when trying to enjoy a delicate dinner like Sushi.

This place has gone down. I like their bento box teriyaki beef, California roll and tempura but the miso soup tasted like water!

The hibachi was really good (better than Bennihana) if a little pricy. The service wasn't great - we had to ask for drink refills a few times and it wasn't very busy. The atmosphere was typical of a hibachi restaurant, but a bit on the loud side and nothing really engaging about it. But I would go back, cuz the food was really good!

This is one of my favorite lunch spots. The service is sometimes slow, but everyone is friendly and polite and the food is absolutely worth any wait! I've had several different sushi rolls, their miso soup, and the pan-fried dumplings. All of it has been delicious!

Fantastic experience! Our hibachi chef Shah-wo (sorry for misspelling) was fantastic and made the experience a fun one. The food here is amazing.. my daughter got hibachi which was very good and got a LARGE meat portion. The hibachi dinner prices are on the higher side, they start at 30 bucks and goes up for hibachi dinners. And strangely Rice is not included... I know right!!!! It's additional $3.50 added to your bill. They don't tell you this. Again. Food was good. But Just understand that if you're on a budget, maybe not the place for dinner.. I got sushi and vegetable tempura which were both amazing!!! The food was delicious and everything we ordered was high quality. Recommend to anyone

The hibachi experience here is great. The staff was absolutely amazing! The food was good, but I wouldn’t say it was spectacular! Hibachi was pretty expensive, I thought, but you get a lot of food so it evens out really. My only con to this place was we felt super rushed by the staff to get out of there. Half way through our meal, they were bringing us out to-go boxes which made us feel like we needed to leave. I understand there’s limited seating on the hibachi side, but I wasn’t a huge fan of feeling like I needed to leave quickly. It was awkward. Aside from that, definitely worth a try!

It was good. I had the shrimp and vegetable tempura bento box ( I didn't realize the bento came with tempura, thus I got double portions of Tempura). The tempura was hot and freshly fried, Cali roll is standard, salad was meh, miso soup is standard, but knocking off a star for the steamed rice. It was dry. Service was very good, atmosphere was good as well.

While the food, hibachi “show” and service was great, the cups were dirty. We had to send 4 of the 8 drinks we ordered back due to dirty cups. Also, 3 of the 8 people in our party got sick the next day. I’m not saying this restaurant made us sick but there were dirty particles floating in the cups so idk. I truly am sad because I LOVE the food here. 😔

I went in last night with my kids. The lady who sat is down asked if we had reservations. I said no and she was like, "Usually you have to have a reservation, but it's ok, let me make the room for you" she comes back and seats to a completely empty dining room! 😑 The food is delicious, but I gave a 3 star because of the service. I had my girls and my little boy with me. We have been there before and the portions for the hibachi is great. I ordered what I thought would be enough for myself and my kids. The server questioned it, said it wouldn't be enough. Then she pulled over another woman and she insisted that there wouldn't enough food. She was very pushy and advised me to order another dinner. I felt pressured and ordered another one. I was super irritated and it ruined my meal experience. Food came out, our cook was great, but guess what?? WAY TOO MUCH FOOD!!! We packed 3 full containers! I was so upset because they were wrong. I will not be going back. They were very pushy and all about making making that extra dollar... dollars! I don't think it's good business. Very dishonest and greedy. Oh! Also, watch out, even if the service is poor, 18% gratuity is automatically added into your total. Remember that when you tip.

At Masu, you have a choice to do Sushi or Hibachi. We did Hibachi. It was packed, and they were short staffed. Our waitress kept forgetting our drink order, and it seemed that she couldn't get any of our orders right...
The Hibachi chef didn't seem like he knew what was going on kept losing half the food.

Beware of deceptive pricing. Pre-Covid this was my all time favorite hibatchi destination but the pricing is deceptive now, the quality of the food has declined, and they include a 18% tip which I find offensive as I am more than willing to tip generously for great service, food, and experience but object to it being decided for me.

Before you could order an entree like filet with all the fixings or combinations like filet / chicken both of which clearly stated the total price and what was included and what was not. On my visit last night the combination pricing was deceptive in that nowhere did I see on the menu that the combo's had a "base charge" of $12 and then charges were added for each item you selected (e.g. filet and chicken) plus an upcharge (also not noted) of $3.50 for fried vs white rice. So at the end of the dinner, the entree price became $12+$17+$8+$3.50 = $40.50 plus 18% tip plus tax. So disregarding tax and drinks / appetizer, my entree costs $47.79.

The problem being instead of being told all this upfront, the details were hidden so the bill was a surprise . On top of this, the chicken was not very good like it was yesterdays chicken which made the experience even worse.

Overall it was a disappointment compared to my last visit and I will reconsider before going back.

Bottom line? Inflation, I get it. But go back to pricing where the cost of what you order is crystal clear, leave the tip up to the customers, and don't let the quality fade as it will cost you customers.

It was our first time here last night with our 2 year old son. We all loved it! The food was great and so was the chef! You get a ton of food for the price, so I say it is worth it. My husband and I got the combo dinner for 2 for $87. It was a great deal because of all the food you get plus the experience. The chef was great too; he interacted with us and was great with my son, too. I wish I remembered his name. Anyway, I definitely recommend this place! My husband and I haven’t had hibachi in years, and this is just how I remembered it! We will definitely be going again!

Very disappointing experience. We were a party of 8 with children, and from the moment we arrived experience was less than pleasant. The host was rushing us to get seated, told us that our table will be given away even though there was nobody else waiting to be seated. Finally, when seated, it took them 10-15 min to have someone come and take our drink orders. The table and the hibachi griddle were dirty from the previous party, nobody cleaned after them and before seating us. Food leftovers were all over the table.
Once the cook arrived, he cleaned the griddle and did his thing. It was fine, kids enjoyed the usual show of fire and chu-chu train. However, food was literally saturated with the soy sauce. It was extremely salty and dripping with butter. I suppose it is normal for Hibachi type places, but this much butter on a steak just doesn't taste good.
Finally, when check arrived, we were overcharged by quite a bit, they did apologize and corrected the bill.

Would we ever come back? I would say not a chance...

I usually get the shrimp fried rice twice a month from from different hibachi restaurants. I usually pay premium to get shrimp fried rice from hibachi place instead of Chinese place because I expect bigger shrimp and better quality. I was totally disappointed what I got for $17.50 +1.50 tip. The shrimps were the tiny cheap ones, fried rice smelled and tasted burnt. Will not return.

Yesterday I went to Masu Sushi & Hibachi with 3 friends to celebrate my birthday and another friend’s birthday. When making the reservation this was made known that we were celebrating our birthdays. Our reservation was for 6:30 pm. The other birthday friend and I arrived 8 mins early. The hostess seated us shortly upon arrival. We sat down across from a nice, friendly family. The waitress/server came. No introductions were made. She kept insisting on when the other 2 in our party would be arriving. I told her shortly that we arrived early. The family across from my friend and I chatted about if they’d been here before, they said yes, and told us about the happy hour specials and gave my friend and I their happy hour menu. I put in an order of wine and and glass of water and my friend ordered water then later hot tea, (again not being aware that there was HH specials until the family across from us. My wine happened to be on HH. The 3rd member of our party arrived and shortly the 4th after. It’s about 6:35 when everyone is at the table. My friend and I told the other 2 ladies about the HH specials and menu. When the waitress Betty returned she scolded the 2 older ladies about their tardiness that they were making the other party wait, mind you we came on a reservation for 6:30. The other 2 ladies began reviewing the menus. When our waitress came back she snatched the HH menu out of my friend’s hand. Our waitress’s name was Maria, extremely rude the entire dinner, I was referring to her as ma’am and miss when addressing her because she never introduced herself, she scolded me too. There were other parties at the restaurant that were celebrating their birthdays and were sang to along with being presented their dessert with a candle to blow out, none of that for our party. I will say Bobby, the chef who made our dinner was great, but abit heavy handed with the salt but, a was very friendly. When Bobby finished cooking out meal Maria immediately came to give us to go boxes and a check. She never asked if anyone in our party wanted additional drinks. She actually came to the family across from us, refilling their waters. I had to call for her to get more water, and when I requested she ran back to the kitchen to return with nothing, over to the register not to print out anyone’s check… just to delay. Overall I would not return. The hostess was nice and so was Bobby the Chef, but Maria’s attitude and service was trash. Near the end of our time there I went to the restrooms. While in the restroom my friend asked why nothing was done for our birthdays and Maria said she was not aware, although I had mentioned multiple times during our initial interactions with her and when making the reservation. All I can say is our best option would have been to just leave and figure out somewhere else another time. I would definitely not recommend going here.

They got my order wrong. Make sure you check your order before you leave when doing take out. I called at 9:10pm and no answer even though the close time is 9:30 according to Google maps. I drove there to get my order corrected and the door was locked at 9:15 pm. I was overcharged by $10.45 since I didn’t get what I paid for.

Food was ok. Not the best I've had but the most expensive for sure. I think this place is a ripoff anytime u charge people $3 extra for fried rice at a hibachi. 😒

We went to this restaurant a little after noon on Sunday
There was just one occupied table
We stood at the front desk for about 2 or 3 minutes and nobody approached us
There were two sushi chefs making rolls at the sushi bar
I asked them if we could be seated he indicated … ‘she will come’
No one showed up at the front desk
The phone rang unanswered while we waited
We stood there for about 10 mins total and then left.
Terrible service
Would hate to think when and how the food would be served given no one showed up to even seat us in an empty restaurant

The reason I give this place 5 starts is because of Gino. His hospitality was definitely 5 stars. I'm glad I lucked up on him as a cook because he cooks very well. Everything was perfect. He went above & beyond, as well as made my children & I feel very welcomed. Thanks to him I will be going back....& will make sure to asks specifically for him every time! Best chef!!!!

I placed an order through Ubereats and they just ignored it. Eventually Uber eats cancelled it. If you aren't going to take orders from third parties then turn off the functionality. I have a specified period to eat and plan my delivery accordingly so I can actually sit down to eat... Now my lunch is unexpectedly cancelled and I have to figure out an alternative during the short period I have to eat. While it probably doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, you've lost a customer that frequented your establishment both in person and via delivery.

Let me start by saying the food was great, the service was horrible!!!! I Took my daughter and two grandchildren (2,3) we were taken to a grill and believe me when I say we were there 35 mi I gofrom beginning to when we walked out. The waiter took our drink order and we never seen him again until he brought bill. No drinks were refilled (back to this in moment) so the chef came to cook our food and we thought do a show…no…. One little fire when he cleaned the grill and an onion volcano. THATS ITS! My grandkids watched other tables. Our rolls did not even make it to our table until we we’re almost finished with our meal. So now back to my problem and the waiter….. I have no problem paying prices for good food, however I do have a problem when I see my ticket and they had added a $23 gratuity. I tip for the service I receive everyplace I go, I GUESS WHEN YOU AUTOMATICALLY ARE GOO G TO ADD IT TO THE TICKET, YOU DONT HAVE TO CHECK ON YOUR CUSTOMERS. And by the way, my grandkids ate rice off our plates and my bill was $145.00 dollars.

Terrible service. I will NEVER come back. Had reservations for 3 for dinner. We waited 30 minutes to get chef to cook. The server never came back to add water or ask if we need anything. The chef was nice and respectful. But the food was really lack of flavor and salty.. We were charged 18% gratuity. The server did not offer to pack food for us. I do not mind to tip for good service and tasty food. I understand how hard it is working in a restaurant. However; the restaurant just ruined everyone’s night. The couple sitting next to us was charged 18% gratuity too. Really disappointed.

I am normally very harsh on restaurants. I immediately look at cleanliness and decor. Then always pay attention to service as well as ordering and placement.

This place checked all the boxes well. Absolutely amazing. No joke.

Definitely a go to if you are in the area.

They should call this place The International House of Sushi (IHOS).

They have sushi rolls for every country and state!

Fresh and delicious.

So delicious in fact that I had eaten most of them before I got a good picture!

The "pork chop" in the picture was really the Ahi Tuna Tower.

The server mixed it up and shaped it into a pork chop shape before I could get a nice picture of the layered AHI GOODNESS!

Go there after 8pm on Saturdays for 1/2 price bottles of wine....kind of a reverse happy hour!

I usually love this place, the food is great, the service is awful but the food is worth it. This time I couldn’t enjoy my food because they were spraying fabuloso while we were eating. There are plenty of unscented, or fragrance free cleaners on the market they should use instead. In a restaurant you want to smell and taste FOOD not purple cleaner, ruined my meal.

This place is half hibachi grill, half sushi bar. My review is solely of the sushi side, which has been a fantastic experience each time. I promise I'll try the hibachi side... next time. It was pretty busy when we arrived, and most were families for the hibachi side. The hostess was also our server so she was really working the whole floor and doing so with a pleasant energy & smile (you could easily tell, even under her mask). After selecting multiple items from multiple menus, while still contemplating the ramifications of ordering more, a gentleman stopped by with our drinks. Nigori and Sapporo, party started! 🥳

I think we were the most lively table in there, but it is a nice atmosphere... even without us there. We laughed & joked with the staff, and then our house salads arrived, gifting the other diners with a few moments of silence while we chewed & moaned like cattle grazing. Next time, I will order two house salads for myself. Appetizers for the evening included the Monkey Ball, an absolute go to favorite. So. Good. We also got fried Goyza, chicken yakitori, shrimp yakitori. All were amazing...pro tip; don't neglect the sauce that drips off the yakitori & hangs out on the plate. 👍

We finished off with the Sunset roll, which was good...kinda vanilla. The Texas Ranger Roll came to bat though & knocked it out of the park. Round the bases, and bring it home! Damn, that's a good roll. Little spice, lots of flavor.

A great dining experience, made even better when our server brought us a farewell shot each of Nigori, which cements my opinion of her awesomeness. Great time, every time here at Masu.

UPDATE: Today on a return visit, everything was still amazing as usual. However, we again ordered the sunset roll & this time it had a good amount of spice & was rather good compared to the previous visit. We also ordered the paradise roll & this paid with the sunset roll was an absolute flavor bomb. Nice heat from the sunset roll is excellently complimented by the mango on the paradise roll. It was a fantastic combo... even if you don't really like spicy, the combo of the two is enough to tamper down the heat & just lay the flavor on you...so good.

My wife and I just left this place an hour ago. The food was decent but the real issue was with our server. The server never came by at all to see if we needed anything and was also very passive aggressive. The most disrespectful thing she did was look over me while I signed the receipt and left the tip. Maybe that type of behavior is acceptable in her culture but certainly is not acceptable here. When she saw that I Ieft a $3 tip she made a grunting sound, I guess she wasn't happy with her tip. I approached her and let her know that if she wanted a better tip she should be nicer and that she should be more attentive and less disrespectful. This was the first time we have dinned here and it will be the last. You can't act high class serve tables. Maybe she behaved that way because I'm a Hispanic man with an asian wife, I can't think of any other reason.

My first time and so disappointed. I got salmon bento, the salmon was two tiny piece almost paper thin. Waitress never come to check on me. Not recommend and I never want to go back.

This was one of the worst hibachi experiences I have ever had. I’m only giving it 1 star because
The sushi was good. I’d suggest eating that, but to go. The hibachi itself was nasty. The rice was not good, my meat was dried out and lacked flavor. We did not receive good service and was still charged 18% gratuity for 2 people. When in fact, we first came in and basically had to seat ourselves because no one came to the front to greet or sit us. We had to walk around to find someone. Our drink orders were taken by 1 person and someone else bought our drinks and then no one came back to check on us. We had to keep walking around to find people to service us the whole evening only for the food to be mediocre at best. And I’ve been to lots of Hibachi even Benihana doesn’t charge as much as here. This place was a complete rip off. I don’t mind paying when service and food a great, but for this it was way TOO pricy and low food quality.

What a great restaurant!!! Food was very fresh and well prepared. The chef “Bobby” was hysterical and entertaining. Fun time. Great food. Even my teenager liked it and he doesn’t like anything. Give it a try. Support local restaurants.

The food quality was great and the chef did the usual things you do at a hibachi restaurants. $83 including tip for 2 people with 2 item combo each. I was a tad taken aback by the $2.50 per person charge for fried rice… overall, I’m not sure it was worth what we paid for just lunch on a Sunday.

I ordered little over $100 worth sushi and sashimi for me and my mom to celebrate her birthday. Waited an hour, they said another 15mins. So I waited. After waiting one hour and 30mins, All I got was "SORRY, WE DIDN'TPUT THE ORDER IN" What a nice place to celebrate special moment, ha!

Not sure if there has been a change in management but the portion size has significantly decreased for dinner hibachi and they are charging for the "white sauce/yum yum sauce" not even complimentary with your food anymore a 2oz not even full to go ramekin. They brought out the soup luke warm. An extra star given because I got my favorite chef and he always puts on a great show.

I paid for extra egg and as you can see, I didn’t get it. The beef and chicken were dry. It was seasoned good, but that’s about it. I didn’t eat it all. I have no plans on returning.

Have been a customer for almost 10 years and have NEVER had an issue with any of the chef's accommodating our request for a sauce we like on our choice of meat (teriyaki sauce, butter, sesame seeds, and lemon juice) however, the current head chef (Bobby aka Chino or Gino) caused a scene and scolded our entire table for asking for this sauce. He aggressively asked who the chef was who made the sauce for us as he would be firing that chef that day. He said he would make the sauce for us JUST THIS ONE TIME but that he would also make sure none of the chef's would ever make that sauce again. We were all taken back as it was JUST a sauce request and also happened to be a sauce one of Masu's old chef's made for us years ago which we loved and have asked for since! Unfortunately, we will never be returning again. The sweet waitress was aware of the horrible service received and apologized on Bobby's behalf, she mentioned he's also rude to her which made us pretty sad for her. Management should not allow their "head chef" or any chef act in that manner! BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE!

Consistency. Haven't been here for 2 year due to distance we moved from the area.

It was my mom and brother’s first time having hibachi and they loved it. The food was really good and the service was really fast. They are also willing to accommodate and take reservations if you call ahead. I had the shrimp fried rice with steak and chicken. It was a huge portion even to be the lunch special. This was my first time trying the melon saki, which was really tasty as well. I will be back. Also, they add a gratuity to a party 6 of more, but they do advise you of this before you pay.

Had a reservation at 5. Arrived and stood there for a few minutes, 3 staff members looked our was and never acknowledged us standing there. I had to go over to one of them and ask don't they see us standing there. I can understand if they are busy, there was only 4 diners at the time we arrived. The staff was rude, didn't understand English clearly, when asked a question they'd stare and then run off without answering. When you reserve 2 grills with 13 occupants you'd assume they'd try harder especially when they charge 18% gratuity for parties over 6. The chef Bobby was delightful but used way too much sodium and soy sauce, so we had to take it home, add cooked rice and eggs to meal in order to consume it. This experience totally ruined my bday dinner that I was so looking forward to.
