Very good food and service. Less than comfy metal chairs.

Our server was absolutely pleasant and adorable. She very kindly explained and served the menu at a high caliper. In addition to our star waitress, the staff greeted us upon entry, and made me feel right at home. Along with that, the food was the highest quality (especially for the price) sushi/asian cuisine, that I have ever had. I was thoroughly impressed with my time spent in the restaurant, and will most definitely be coming back. I recommend the Austin FC, Spooky, and Texas Surf’n Turf rolls, along with the Komé set (Miso Soup, Pickled Vegetables, and Rice) and a side salad. That much food was able to fully satisfy 2 starving people’s stomachs. Plus, they have a hand sanitizing towel prior to us eating, which was a very nice touch.

Good restaurant that's worth a little wait. The tempura veggies were great (except the pepper was very spicy with no warning), the curry noodles were flavorful with a good texture. The sushi was packed with flavor with a nice crunch and the Brussels sprouts were a nice off menu treat.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Taste was just okay. Something very off at this restaurant. Food made me sick which NEVER happens to me. Waitresses not allowed to accept cash tips or “they will be taken out back and shot” as the waitress jokingly said to us. Clearly some kind of nightmare control freak situation at this restaurant, which is on par with the weird atmosphere, off-vibe from the staff, and food that doesn’t stay in your stomach too long before exiting back out the same hole it came in. You couldn’t pay me money to ever come back here again.

A hidden gem. I want to share all great things but I also want to keep it to myself so they don't get overcrowded ha. Recommend signing up for their email list so you can be notified of all their special events like sake tastings, flower arranging and tea ceremonies. Really good quality food, best in the area without the pretentiousness. Go for the weekend lunch special!

We really like this place. We’ve been a few times and our last trip was great. I feel we ordered so many things off the menu, and most are amazing, but all were good. The spicy edamame was ok, the tarantula specialty roll was excellent and the Trio and Spooky roll was really good. The Texas surf and turf was a huge role and it tasted delicious. The tempura zaru soba was interesting, but tasty. Not sure how I feel about the steak in there though, but the flavor of everything else was great. The farm salad was really good too. The kids loved their kitchen table kids meal. Nice clean restaurant with good service although it was a little slow.

The food on the menu here is great. But sometimes they have ube tiramisu. It isn’t on the menu but it is one of the best desserts I’ve had in Austin. I don’t have a picture because I have no self control once it comes out. It’s that good.

I liked it. I'm a sushi head and take any chance I can to eat sushi. I was finally in the area and was able to come here. The restaurant smelled amazing as soon as I walked in. Their menu had lots of unique options. The server recommended me the "alone together" roll and it was really good. Their lunch menu is one of the most intricate sushi lunch menus I had ever seen. My husband isn't as into sushi as me but I'm definitely going to be coming back here with him.

From the moment we arrived, I felt drawn in to this busy, vibrant, and yet astoundingly peaceful atmosphere. The wait time was almost nonexistent, despite the restaurant being full of people. Everything was noticeably clean and well kept. The water tasted better than at home. Our server was extremely professional. He made tailored recommendations and met every need, but somehow it never felt like he was interrupting. The food was artfully prepared and thoughtful in every flavor. It was expensive, but I believe it was absolutely worth it. It is rare to find a place like Komé: one whose spirit is so pure that it seeps into every aspect of your interaction with it. Even in the appearance of the menu, it remained true to itself. Organized and thoughtful, rich and exciting. It was a great pleasure.

Yall.... this has to be one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Oh my god.

Nigiri 5/5 - all the freshest, most satisfying nigiris ive had in a while… you HAVE to get the pork belly and the toro!!!!!

If you get the kome tamago, i would recommend asking for light sauce. It was too saucy and sweet.

Kama (yellowtail) 5/5

Curry udon 5/5 - delicioussss, just wish there was a little more meat, but flavor is on point and noodles are perfect

Tempura zaru soba 5/5

Shumai 5/5

Tuna poke 5/5 - im not a poke lover but appreciated the quality

Kome viche 3/5 - didnt really like this tbh

Miso soup 5/5 - how was it so good for a standard soup? Lol warm and comforting

Sake cheesecake 5/5

Yuzu creme brulee 3.5/5 - consistency was not there, it was more of a yogurt

The chilean red wine and sake was great! They let you sample too

Soooo happy with this dining experience 😍😍😍

Probably the best Sushi I've found in town for the price. Up until we found this place we thought there were only two kinds of sushi in Austin:

1. So cheap you wonder if it's even real fish. Just nasty but like, $10 a person. Seemingly designed for college students who know no better, but I won't name names.
2. A $500+ Omakase dinner carefully curated by some famous chef - make sure you make your reservation 4 months in advance! Again, you probably know what I'm talking about.

So thank the lord for this place, where we can go and get a really great lunch special for the two of us and walk out with a < $60 bill. It's a go-to lunch place and the best raw fish you'll find in town, right up there with the Epic Poke you'll find further up the way from here.

We've gone for dinner once or twice which was pricier but amazingly good. I recall the BBQ Eel rolls being especially great.

Delicious sushi! We started with the korokke (panko mashed potato croquettes with bits of corn, carrots, and peas, drizzled with a tonkatsu sauce) and the gyozas (pork & cabbage dumplings). Next, we tried the sunshine roll (salmon, avocado, mango, sesame seeds), the longhorn roll (steak, avocado, cream cheese, green sauce, sesame seeds), and the alone together roll (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, topped with bbq eel, go-go sauce, eel sauce, tempura crunch).

The sunshine roll was my favorite - so simple, so refreshing, and the mango was an amazing touch. The longhorn roll was my runner up - so different from typical sushi, and a very different flavor profile compared to the sunshine roll. The alone together roll was double the price, but it underwhelmed us.

They don’t take reservations, so we came here for an early dinner at 4:30 pm on a Friday to avoid the crowds, and there were so many empty tables. One thing to note is that their mid-day menu differs from their dinner menu. They start handing out their dinner menus at 5 pm. From the dinner menu, my boyfriend highly recommends the brie tempura. I’ll definitely be trying it the next time I’m at Komé.

The food comes out quickly, and the service is very attentive. The only thing I would say is the tables are a bit small and it’s hard to fit all of the plates on the table at once. we usually order a few appetizers and sushi dishes. I don’t drink so I can’t tell you how the cocktails are but their teas and their Yuzu lemon nonalcoholic beverage are really good.
👍🏼
I would recommend for both lunch and dinner.

Kome is really great. My girlfriend and I go there all the time for date night and whatnot. Sushi quality is fantastic - highly recommend the "alone together" roll - and the price-point is not outrageous. Only few negatives are that it's usually quite popular and therefore busy, so finding a table can be a trick, and it can be a touch loud and cold when they have that AC blasting. Other than that, though, the place is stellar. Definitely check it out!

I have been with Kome since it's original OG location and to this day it's the only spot in town where you can catch me dining alone at the sushi bar anytime during the week. Its that good! Also shout out to the wonderful staff and the amazing service. You can tell a place is magic when your favorite server has been there forever and he does everything, host, serve, clean, make drinks, probably manages the back end too, what a badass always with a smile on his face. Make sure you get the Alone together, super star, sunshine roll, spooky, heck get every roll, add seafood pancake and some chicken karage or Kome fries/wings and you are all set. Tried the kama yellowtail collar and it was delish. Kome is all hits no misses, the only reservation I have is about the dessert, bring back the matcha parfait, yes I know it's tough to find all the ingredients but that was one of the best things on the menu, I still dream about the red bean, green tea 🍵 🍦 and mochi, all tie together in the perfect mix, support Kome and go to one of Austin's best 🍣 and still affordable restaurants

The only redeeming thing during my meal was that the uni was delicious.

I sat at the bar and the whole time I was there/ate my entire meal I was never asked if I wanted a drink. I ended up drinking the water provided that, honestly, just tasted dirty.

My waitress took my order and checked on me one time immediately after my first roll arrived and I didn’t see her again.

I dropped my purse at one point and three separate staff members walked around it while I tried to pick it up (the barstools don’t slide and there is no room to swing your legs around to get down).

My first roll was the Endo in NY roll which was 18 dollars and only six pieces. I don’t mind that as long as they’re phenomenal pieces but these were really subpar and pretty much just carrots.

I would have ordered another roll, but like I said previously, my waiter never came back.

The nigiri I ordered took almost another 30 minutes to arrive. I’m not sure if she held the ticket or if it’s just the kitchen’s process for items to be so spread apart, but it was really frustrating especially when the atmosphere in the restaurant is so claustrophobic and loud.

The uni was great, and the ankimo was fine, but the sake-toro I ordered was so thinly sliced it was really unpalatable. You could get none of the fatty texture of the fish and it was about the same consistency that I imagine eating a wet napkin would be.

All in all, I left still hungry, annoyed, and out almost $100, so I’ll just have uni shipped to me and avoid the hassle next time.

Terrible service.
The waitress didn’t even put my food order in, the entire table received their food, and we were getting ready to leave and I had to ask the waitress where my order was, she looked shocked it didn’t come out, looked at her pad and realized she had never put it in. Then asked if I still wanted it….
Of course I still wanted it what type of question is that.
Then when she brought it out she only brought out the nigiri I ordered and none of the rolls…
How is it that she forgets to get my order twice!!! This was terrible service

The sushi was ok. I've had worse but more often much better. The items are kinda fusion-y and seem like they would be cool but they are really kinda boring. Most of the items were fine but on the meh side. The worse thing was a rice paper roll and the rice paper was hard and chewy. Didn't send it back to the kitchen cuz it wasn't worth having a ruckus over but I wont go back. The price point is set for exceptional sushi and it was really more just nothing. Servers were nice enough.

alert: long wait time! At least 1 hour or more, no reservations.

Great neighborhood sushi place. I think across the board they do everything really well. The staff checks on you like every fifteen minutes which is nice but also feels like they want you to get out as soon as possible. I would avoid the ramen and some of their sushi rolls are just simply too big and oddly a disservice to the fish.

Okay this place is good, the 4.5 review is perfect for it. When compared to high end sushi it’s good, you won’t be let down for the price but…. It’s more of a 4 star food experience. I’m giving it 5 starts because it is great and it is a good experience.

The bluefin nigiri is melt in your mouth delicious, the food, everyone was extremely satisfied, I was very happy with my katsu chicken and my friends were satisfied with their meals. The servers will help you place orders if you’re unfamiliar. The atmosphere is great.

Overall it’s good for what it is; the food will meet your expectations but for the restaurant that it is; I want to give it 4 stars but in reality with everything combined I was happy with it, so the food is good but no phenomenal, it’ll meet you expectations but is NOT the best. The service and atmosphere make it a 5. Come here and it’ll meet your expectations. This place is great for a no reservation needed walk in highish end sushi restaurant

**Exceptional Dining at Kome Sushi Kitchen**

If you're looking for a sushi experience in Austin that is both exceptional and affordable, Kome Sushi Kitchen should be at the top of your list. My recent visit to this vibrant eatery left me thoroughly impressed and eager to return.

From the moment you step into Kome, you’re greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The décor is modern yet cozy, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish.

The star of the show at Kome is undoubtedly the food. The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I started with their lunch special, which is an incredible deal. The variety of sushi rolls and sashimi offered in the lunch special is generous, and each piece is crafted with care and precision. The fish melts in your mouth, and the balance of flavors is spot on.

In addition to sushi, Kome offers a range of other Japanese dishes that are equally delightful. The ramen is rich and comforting, the tempura is light and crispy, and the yakitori skewers are packed with flavor. There’s something on the menu for everyone, whether you’re a sushi lover or not.

What truly sets Kome apart is the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs. Despite the high quality, the prices are very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for a delicious yet budget-friendly meal.

In conclusion, Kome Sushi Kitchen is a gem in Austin’s culinary scene. The combination of exceptional food, welcoming atmosphere, and great value makes it a must-visit. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner, Kome promises a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

My husband and I visited this establishment for a second time. The first time we ate here was a few months ago, and we had a great experience. This second time we visited was completely different. While the food itself was great, as usual, the service we received this second time around was not. My husband and I are both BIPOC, and it was the first time we had experienced racial profiling/targeting. When we ordered drinks, the server asked to see IDs. My husband showed the server his ID, but the server said that since his ID was a Mexican ID, not a US ID, he would have to show the ID to his bar manager. My husband offered to show him another form of ID, as he had his passport with him, but the server refused, instead choosing to have his bar manager, who was also Mexican, look at the ID. The server basically asked another Mexican person to verify a Mexican ID. The ID was, of course, fine and perfectly valid. While we understand wanting to make sure that any ID shown is valid, we don't understand why the server could not have just looked at the passport, which is another valid form of ID. It felt weird that because my husband's ID was not a US ID, he had to call the bar manager to look at it. My husband has used his ID many times ordering drinks at restaurants, and he has never run into issues. It just felt unnecessarily humiliating to have an ID verified by someone else, just because it was a Mexican ID. We wonder if we would have received the same treatment if the ID was a European ID.

Additionally, the server was generally just rude; when he would come over to our table, he acted like we were bothering him. We had intended to order more food, but the poor service was enough to make us just ask for the check and leave. It's a shame because we love the food here, but we are hesitant to return due to the service and the racial profiling. I think it would be wise if the management here re-trained their staff on DEI and subconscious bias.

Visited with family on a Friday evening. I understood and appreciated the menu better after a recent trip to Japan. Lots of crowd pleasers but some unique dishes that might be hard to find around Texas (Okonamiyaki for example). The staff are great, service was lightning fast and food was delicious.

I love Komé. I first got to know them when they were doing take out only during pandy and it was great (we like nearby so it was not an issue). Going to dinner there is always fun and delicious. Highly recommend!

Really delicious sushi and a great atmosphere. Every suggested dish was a winner! It took a long time to get a table (large party) but one magically appeared after we got up to leave.

Not the greatest fried rolls, green tea was served in a can and fresh Sushi was good. The high lights of this restaurant was the fatty tuna cuts like toro and otoro, indicator of knowledgeable owners for fresh Sushi.

It was so delicious! Kome is now one of my top places to go for sushi in Austin (if not THE top choice). The service was top notch - we didn't have to wait for anything and the food arrived quickly. The ambiance is really cute. Definitely recommend!

One of my favorite go to spots! Love eating here because the food is always great and service is awesome. Nigiri is always fresh and so yummy, miso soup is killer, and they have great lunch specials. Gyoza is always crunch on the outside and juicy inside. Y’all have to make Kome a go to spot for sushi.

My favorite go to sushi for lunch! Always fresh always great! Staff is inviting and smiling every single time. Extensive menu, with wonderful lunch options. I deviate from my usual, chirashi, but it’s so darn good! The atmosphere is light and bright. Sushi chefs greet everyone walking in. It’s busy at lunch so go before noon to not get put on a waiting list, also all party must be present to sit, so no going ahead and snagging a table before everyone gets there. Parking can be a challenge as it is a popular place. They do have a nice lil bar, which I enjoy for an early HH.

In terms of sushi, I'd say it is about 3.5 stars not quite deserving of 4 stars yet. The ramen is solid, I wish they could bring the full Daruma's menu back. Service is great. Parking can be a bit of a pain.

This place is incredible. I don't have as much time to go like I used to, but my latest visit last weekend was superb. Very happy they still have the Fat Samurai roll and I tried the Beef Curry Udon which knocked my socks off. That's some of the best Udon I've ever had. If you like Japanese food and you're not dining here, you're messing up!

I adore this sushi spot, and it is definitely in my top 10 sushi restaurants so far. I love ordering from their special menu, and they have creative as well as familiar rolls on their menu. So far, I've gone just before the evening rush hits a high, but this place gets very busy, very crowded, and decently loud. Parking can also be a bit tricky if you come at the peak hours. Besides this, however, the hype is well deserved and I have gone here a few times already since moving to town.

I went to this restaurant a lot and I must say the food was very delicious! But I also hear something not so good. The management they speak not nicely to the workers. This made me feel uncomfortable. The workers they are very kind and work hard! I think management should be more kind too. Good food yes but management please be better to people who work for you. Thank you all for patient with my family!

The food here was life changing. After having gone to Japan, I didn’t think the food could be better, but Kome was! The sushi was so fresh. The staff was INCREDIBLY attentive. And the prices were so reasonable. We wish we didn’t live out of town so we could enjoy this more. I cannot recommend Kome enough!!

This is a great Japanese restaurant. Not only its authentic Japanese food but also I want to mention staff services are one of the best.
I like their lunch bento which I can enjoy several dishes in one plate. At dinner, it’s nice talking with sushi chef at the counter and they serve across the counter which is really an exceptional experience that I can feel Japan.

This place is fantastic. But they don’t accept cash which used to be illegal. Our dollar goes away, we are at the gov mercy. Love the sushi and customer service here. But refusing cash is not right. It takes away money from your servers tips as well. I know, we can tip in cash, but who does when you force feed the customer into paying with a card? Servers make less…. No way I would’ve bartended in college Dt if my bar taxed my tips. Hopefully these businesses will have trouble finding unique waitress and waiters like they do now to restaurants that won’t tax there tips.

The service was incredibly disappointing. After waiting for a table for over an hour and a half, we were seated, only to be informed that we could only order food and no alcohol because one member of our group seemed more intoxicated than the rest. Feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable due to the manager's poor handling of the situation, we decided to leave. While cutting off individuals at a bar might make sense, doing so at a restaurant seems odd, especially right before a meal. I reached out to the general manager, but despite expressing my concerns, I felt like the problem wasn't fully addressed, especially when he mentioned never receiving complaints about the manager before. Apparently, many people were cut off that weekend according to the GM. As a long-time patron of Kome for over 8 years, I've always loved their food and never experienced mistreatment. However, sushi, for me, is an experience that pairs well with sake, and I don't want to worry about being cut off by a server or manager just because they're on a power trip. It's important for the restaurant to ensure that their policies make sense and are applied fairly to all customers.

I've been here twice, and for my most recent visit I came to eat dinner on my birthday! On my first visit there was a little mistake but the food was still great and they gave me a $15 off coupon for a future visit. Best sushi and sashimi I've ever had. Edamame is excellent with the spicy sauce. Alone Together signature roll is splendid. On my birthday visit I was surprised with a creme brulee, yay!
