Brady provided an amazing experience—attentive without being overbearing, making my birthday feel extra special. We kicked things off with Pork Belly, Spicy Edamame, and Shrimp Bao Buns. The Pork Belly was delicious, paired with plantains, though I wasn't a fan of those this time. The sauce on the edamame was fantastic, especially with the spicy seasoning on the side, allowing us to control the heat. The real star of the starters was the Shrimp Bao Bun; it surprised us at first, but after the first bite, we knew we had to order more.

For drinks, we enjoyed the Espressyo Self (love the pun!), Strawberry Mint Mule, and Maracuya Sour. The Strawberry Mint Mule was the standout, with the Maracuya Sour coming in a close second; the Espressyo Self was my least favorite, though it was still enjoyable—I've just had better Espresso Martinis. I'm usually not a fan of salt on drinks, but the salt on the Maracuya Sour was surprisingly good.

The Spider Roll was delightful, with the honey crisp apple adding an unexpected but lovely flavor. Both the Sea-3PO and Hira Hira rolls were tasty as well. However, the Crunchy Atomic Salmon lacked flavor; it definitely needed ginger and soy sauce. Of all the rolls, the Sea-3PO was my favorite.

To cap off the meal, Brady surprised us with Yuzu Pie for my birthday, and it was exceptional—all the flavors came together beautifully. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu.

These recommendations are based on my experience, and I highly suggest you try them for yourself. The service alone is a reason to come back!

Lucky Robot is a delicious sushi spot on South Congress. Pretty busy spot on a Saturday night but the patio was open which was great to people watch. Bradley is a knowledgeable server. I’d be back to Lucky Robot. And you need to order the pork belly buns. This will be a must each time I come back! It is a little pricey for sushi but that’s the area.

Lucky Robot is one of my favorite sushi spots, and I’m happy to drive into Austin, Texas, from Bastrop, Texas, just to eat there. The sushi is always incredibly fresh and delicious. Their appetizers, non-alcoholic drinks, and desserts are also amazing.

On nice days, they offer outdoor seating where you can enjoy your meal and people-watch. The staff is always respectful, knowledgeable about the menu, and quick to explain any specials. I would absolutely recommend Lucky Robot in a heartbeat. Their prices are also pretty reasonable.

Check out some of the dishes I posted to see the variety they serve!

Great fresh sushi with a large variety on the specialty menu of the day plus standards like maguro, sake, and hamachi.
Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Definitely more arty funky than fancy formal.

Beautiful, Instagram worthy interior. The decor is just eccentric enough to be interesting but not overwhelming. You can see the dry aged fish beautifully displayed. The dishes were plated for photography.

But I was focused on quality food. The Alaskan salmon and Otoro nigiri were fantastic! The rolls were heavy on rice and filler which distracted from the quality fish. I appreciated the sauces being on the side rather than directly on the rolls. We ended the meal with some salmon sashimi and while it was delicious, the pieces were tiny and the price was not.

There were a ton of servers standing around but it was difficult to get their attention to place additional orders. Our server was very aloof. Nice enough when she took our initial order.

Overall it felt like the focus was on amazing aesthetic which really overshadowed the food.

This place is overrated. Hostess has an attitude problem. The management also is clueless. Don’t waste your time. My husband and I showed up 2 minutes before our reservation at 7 and were told our counter table was not ready but it would be a few minutes. We waited for 10 minutes and the people had still not left. Meanwhile we are awkwardly standing in the entrance of the restaurant waiting to be seated and there is really nowhere for us to stand. We are bumping into tables, the bus boy station and the host stand.

10 different parties were seated easily after us arriving with no issue, and we just kept waiting. The reservation has a 10 minute grace period. We did not get seated until 7:20 for a 7 PM reservation. Funny that the establishment is exempt from their own rule. Then we were told that an appetizer would be comped. We weren’t even asked which appetizer we wanted. The hostess has a major attitude. Even when looking up our reservation, she couldn’t find it. Had to pull it up on our phone and also give our phone number for her to get it right. Just rudeness all around. The waitress was ok but got distracted a lot. The best person was the sushi chef behind the bar who took additional orders for us and gave us recommendations.

We spent $250 and a $12 Brussel sprout that we didn’t even want or ask for was the “on us” for the inconvenience. 20 minutes of my and my husband’s time is more valuable than $12 especially when I booked a babysitter, drove into the city, and paid to park.

The nigiri, hot rock, and bao were good, but they didn’t blow us away.

If you want good sushi in Austin and to actually be treated like a guest, go to Uchi, neighborhood sushi or Soto. The shit we dealt with tonight wouldn’t happen there.

After years of living in Austin, I went to this spot for the first time last week. Atmosphere was solid, drinks and menu were creative and served with fresh ingredients. Also if you are into sake, they have a wide selection and a flight if you are interested.

Lucky Robot is a fantastic spot in Austin if you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience! The Hot Rock Wagyu is a showstopper—thin slices of premium wagyu that you cook right on a hot stone at your table. It’s a fun and delicious way to enjoy melt-in-your-mouth beef. Their fresh sushi selection is equally impressive, with vibrant flavors and high-quality ingredients in every bite.

Whether you’re in the mood for sushi or something unique like the wagyu, Lucky Robot never disappoints.

I made a reservation for 9:00 pm for 2 and walked in at 8:55. The host said he would need ten minutes to find a spot “in the back” for us- even though I had requested a place at the sushi bar and there were two available spots open, clearly for our reservation. My boyfriend and I just said okay and decided to walk around south congress while we wait. Less than 3 minutes from leaving the restaurant, I got a text saying our table was ready. When we walked back in, he asked me AGAIN for the name on my reservation and pointed to the two spots at the bar that had been available the first time we walked in. Not too much of an inconvenience, but just annoying and slightly rude. Food was good.

A Japanese restaurant with a Peruvian twist. The decor is beautiful and picture-worthy. The food is high quality, though slightly overpriced. I’d recommend Lucky Robot for a nice date night or a celebratory meal. We started with the suzuki ceviche, which consisted of striped bass, guava ponzu, achiote, sliced serrano, and plantain chips. It’s a small dish, but the flavors are perfect. Next, we tried the hira hira roll - yellowtail, avocado, green onion, crispy shallot, yuzu miso, lemongrass soy, and cilantro. This one was disappointing and was missing flavor. We finished with sake nigiri and sake toro nigiri. The salmon was amazing; so fresh, so soft, almost like butter. The sake nigiri was less expensive but just as good as the sake toro nigiri, so I’d recommend sticking with sake nigiri.

The 4 course tasting menu was amazing, flavors and presentation. Went during restaurant week to celebrate a friend's birthday and we were able to try all 11 different dishes between the four of us. Great service and drinks as well. We sat outside and at one point the sound level was a bit chaotic between a guy playing live music on one end of the sidewalk competing with the Continental Club's own music on the other end. Will try to snag an indoor table next time, otherwise it was a fab time.

The important part of this review is the food. The service and atmosphere were good but the sushi was not up to par. We ordered 6 pieces of the dry aged fish and every piece came with some sort of topping instead of letting the fish shine. The otoro had black pepper on it which is blasphemy but the dealbreaker of the meal was that the rice was slightly undercooked. Go to Ichiuni sushi instead

Extremely slow service,. Half of our order was forgotten and late, didnt even receive an entire roll that was still added to our bill. A very insincere 'oh sorry' was all we got when i pointed it out and nothing of note was done to make our visit even remotely pleasant. Food was fine albeit a bit pricey, but the rest of the unfortunate experience heavily sullied the entire night. Go somewhere else that cares more.

This place is a little overhyped, sushi needs to be better quality but the atmosphere is SUPER CUTE, great for pictures. I would highly recommend uchi, uchiko, or uchiba instead. They have much better quality food at very comparable prices and a slightly classier atmosphere. I must commend Lucky Robot on their delicious drinks and very sweet service, but I feel as if the sushi quality is comparable to Whole Foods, not worth the price you’re paying.

First visit and we decided to go for happy hour. Upon walking in, the vibe and service was great - really fun decor and atmosphere. The swing chairs were particularly super cute.

We ordered most items on the HH menu. The stand out item was definitely the hot rock for only 9 freaking dollars. This is probably the best hot rock deal I’ve ever seen and it did not disappoint. The scallop crudo was also one of my favorites; very fresh ingredients and bright flavors. The king sakura was very non-traditional but it still works. Lastly, we were pleasantly surprised by the prime dry aged maki which turner out to be swordfish this day. Very simple, not overdone and balanced.

I’d say the drinks are quite sweet for my taste and I wouldn’t pay regular price for batch made cocktails, but I can’t complain for $9. They are very unique and well presented.

The sushi here is incredibly fresh and high quality, living up to its reputation as #3 Sushi restaurant in Austin.

First thing I will say is, it's expensive. If you're on vacation, like we are, then it's worth checking out. Nice decor, nice location. We managed to grab a parking spot on the street and paid $4 for 2 hours. Worth it.

The food tasted amazing. However, the portions were small, and for the price, it felt like it should have been a little more. Our server was awesome, and since this was our first time there, she walked us through the menu and explained what everything was.

Overall, I enjoyed the food but, I was shocked by the price.

The food here is great and they have items for everyone at the table, including gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options. The spinach & tofu dumplings were particularly good, though I could have done without the mayo like sauce upon which they were plated.

The Veggiepillar roll was amazing, even the omnivores at the table liked it so much we ordered another one. The Farmbot roll was interesting, but I would not order it again; it was not bad, just not as special as the Veggiepillar.

The service was good, albeit a bit slow on wine refills (but that is a nitpick).

The interior design is unique and cute: chopstick lanterns, swing seats, and cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling.

We plan to make Lucky Robot one of our regular spots to dine.

Visited with family for dinner and enjoyed our dining at lucky robot. Table service was very good, very attentive and friendly.
Food was good for most part, ordered two types of ramen and they had good balance of texture and yummy ness. They specialize in dry aged nigiri and nights’ specials were several types of mackerel, which is a fish I least enjoy so I didn’t care much.
chef’s special nigiri was ok, taste and thickness was a bit inconsistent, one of the fish tasted funny, and need bigger fish cut for the rice . Drinks were well made and presented well.
Ambience was really well done for the small interior, given it was crowded, wished the table setup was a bit different, esp the ones by kitchen and wait staff didn’t crowd and joke around between them selves in the corner close to customer’s tables.
They made up though with their extra attentiveness, friendliness and in general Austin’ness. I enjoyed my evening at lucky robot and although a little pricy I recommend you to try it out atleast once.

Our sincerest compliments to the chef! Tried their Omakase course and was in awe of the beautiful presentation. The chef's selections were both flavorful and fun. I appreciated every dish and will be back again :) S/O to our server Brady for being so nice and attentive. And whoever was on aux for the day really knew how to vibe lol. 20/10 place.

One of the better sushi spots in austin. It’s definitely a bit overpriced but everything is pretty good. It’s a pretty romantic restaurant with dim lights and aesthetic decor. I recommend the chefs choice nigiri and the hot stone wagyu! I would skip on the scallop crudo tho- it’s not bad but not worth $24.

We cannot figure out why it’s taken us a decade to eat here. We had a reason to celebrate and made a last minute reservation. We took advantage of the happy hour menus that was a deal, but I almost wish we didn’t because I was too full to eat as much beautiful maki and nigiri as I wanted. The cocktail was great too. While we were there, we saw the info on the World Tuna Day menu…the next day. So we went back! And that menu was great too! We will definitely be back again.

Really great fusion of Japanese sushi and Texas BBQ. The rolls were some of the best rolls I have had. They were flavorful and included fish / cooked beef on top like nigiri.

member interacted with was so timely, knowledgeable and really friendly. Kendra served my partner and I and made us feel welcomed and informed. Thank you Kendra, thank you Lucky Robot and thank you sushi for this perfect Birthday Celebration ✨

Don't bother. We are local to Austin. Overpriced for the sushi. As soon as you walk in it is chaotic inside, seats are crammed together. This place was good many years ago, I don't know what happened, it is poorly managed. I booked a table way in advance for our wedding anniversary and it was pointless, I wish we had gone somewhere else. The hostess barely greeted us, did not even congratulate us when we mentioned we had reservations for our anniversary. The reservation was pointless, they sat us at the furthest seat possible in the back of the restaurant by the bathrooms. I was not fully seated in my seat, and the hostess was already asking me to get up and move for customers to get by so they can use the bathrooms! Obviously, that is not typically a seat then, it is like they did not care at all. We asked to move and initially the hostess said she cannot move us, I reiterated that is our wedding anniversary, we made reservations, and my wife had to mention that I would be bombarded having to get up every moment someone needed to use the bathroom to the restaurant. She acted like we were an inconvenience, forgive us for not wanting to spend our anniversary dinner hearing the toilets flush ,and getting up every minute during dinner since you placed a table blocking the pathway to the bathrooms. The hostess then spoke with the manager, and in 2 minutes she offered us another available table. When you seat down the hostess leaves warm scented clothes on the table, she did not leave them for us, gave us attitude, and walked away. On our way out, the hostess did not greet us a goodbye. The passive aggressiveness from staff was just an unfortunate experience. Food was good, but overpriced, sake is overpriced, our server was nice, overall the experience was lackluster, and never again will I hold any special occasion at this restaurant.

Kitschy, but super yummy. Every time I come, it's a totally different place (my fault for only going once every few years). But it's always a fun, tasty experience that I look forward to each time!

The food just wasn't good for the money. The sashimi was poorly cut and the ramen was uninteresting with the overcooked noodles that were stick together. The ramen and apps came out cold. More style than substance.

This is an incredibly beautiful place with a fairly convenient location. But it’s a little expensive here and I won’t say that the sushi is the most tasty. My nigiri were $4 each and they were very small. This place is definitely worth visiting once, but I wouldn’t come twice. An ideal place for a couple or to hang out with a friend. Also there are vegan options

I had such a wonderful experience at Lucky Robot in Austin, TX. My son and I sat for dinner and enjoyed our entire visit. I would definitely recommend you look no further. You will be glad you did. To start you get water and hand towels. Our server was Bradey H., oh so kind and very knowledgeable about the menu, thank you❣️ Hot tastings, dinner, cocktail, and dessert was absolutely phenomenal!! 💯 From entering at the hosts podium to our table, we had no wait, the staff was so welcoming and hospitable. The ambiance is breathtakingly beautiful. We ordered: Barbacoa dumplings, Brussel sprouts, Crispy pork belly, Maracuya sour, and Tokyo banana. 🔥🔥✨️❤️ The fresh sushi bar is very nice. We miss you all!! Love from Michigan, til our next time!!

Came in on a whim Saturday around 530ish, I didn’t think my wife and I would be sat immediately but holy heck we got sat at the bar in front of the action.

Kevin greeted us quickly followed by Dani, Dani was informative and helpful. She answered any questions we had about the menu. I saw her only a few times because she had other tables, but every time I did see her, she was clearing plates or bringing us drinks. Thanks again Dani for the sake recommendation, it was delightful. You were wonderful.

Kevin was a HAMBONE! You really felt he was as knowledgeable as he was interconnected with his peers. Staff could come up and ask him questions about tickets, ticket times, ingredients or whatever and while he was talking to us; had no shift in mood to help others. Which I personally love seeing. He treated everyone with respect and a playful attitude. He also made a beautiful plate of yellowtail sashimi with coconut water ponzu, curry oil, black tobiko, serrano peppers and sliced korean pears. I didn’t see this on the menu, I just told him things I loved and he conveyed this to Dani.

If you love sushi and trying new things, this is it folks. Come on in and sit at the bar, eat an artistically made meal. Listen to the good music, watch the great camaraderie — and come back soon.

Had the best time with our group of 3. We sat outside and ordered from Bradley who was our lead server. The customer service team waa amazing. They explained all the items clearly and helped us order some of the greatest hits on the menu to start it off right. I would come back for brunch and try some of the brunch only items like the Omurice - Japanese Omelette over rice. The robo tuna, R2D2, tuna tataki, crispy pork belly, and chicken karaage were our starters.

Fantastic dinner option on South Congress. We stopped in based on the vibe and were not disappointed. Good atmosphere and cool decor. We sat at the sushi bar. Our server (Daniela) and chefs (Joe and Youngblood) were all fantastic. And the food was so good! We had spinach and tofu dumplings (amazing) and then three rolls. The Haki Haki (yellowtail) is especially good.
