Been about 6 months since our last dine in - Habachi is the way to go, chef had a great sense of humor. Now carry-out is equally as awesome, prices are MORE than fair for the serving sizes. Great value for the price, HIGHLY recommend the super fried rice bowl. Only recommendation is to make the side salads (with the amazing ginger dressing) either 1. Bigger or 2. Lower the price from $4 so I can order two!

My experience was absolutely horrible! The ceiling leaked in the middle of eating my meal and poured down water on me, my phone, my food, and my drinks. No one came over to help me clean the water, no one apologized, I had to find an employee and ask if I could move my seat. I finally received a box for my food and headed home to change clothes since mine were soaked. I usually love eating here but it might be my last time.

(Replying to Kobe) I’ve called several times to speak with a manager and every time I call there’s no manager in the building. So while leaving your number for me to call is nice, however there’s no manager ever around to take my call.

Ate here with some friends for dinner and had the hibachi meal. We all enjoyed our food and the presentation was fun without being over the top or too much. The wait staff was attentive and the restaurant was clean and well lit. I especially enjoyed the hibachi shrimp and fried rice. The beers are a tad expensive at 7 dollars each but everything else on the menu looked to be priced fairly and within expectations. This is a fun place for a night out with friends and a would be a cool third or fourth date place as the atmosphere allows you to talk without having to holler.

We just went to Kobe Japanese Steakhouse for my son’s birthday and the whole family LOVED it! We were 7 adults and 5 kids. We were not only entertained the whole time with an energetic, singing, juggling chef, but the rest of the staff was equally as welcoming and the food was fantastic, from the appetizers to mains to desserts. We will definitely be back soon! Highly recommend👍👍

Great place to visit. It was our first of many. Service was great (server was Don) and food was fresh. If your like me and like fresh greens just ask for side salad and oil, squeeze lemon and soy sauce with your choice of sashimi. The martinis were exceptional. They didn’t have the Japanese whisky, daikon or radish yet meal was very good. Must visit on your Sushi experience belt.

I went here on a first date at about 6pm. When we entered we did have to wait about 20-30 minutes because the place was busy. Once a table became available we were escorted to a table. We were seated with another group of people at our table. Shortly after being seated, our orders were taken & our chef arrived at our table. He was very funny and charismatic. He really created a fun, & happy vibe around the table & made everyone at the table laugh as he cooked the food. The food was delicious. This place really made a great location for a first date & my date & I left very satisfied with our experience.

Best sushi I've ever had, hands down. Each bite was so delicious that both my stomach and my heart were very satisfied.

Soup = warm, mild, and lovely
Salad = fresh, crisp and appetizing
Sushis = truly fresh and the B E S T
Ice cream dessert = great end to the meal.

They had areas that were away from the hibachi bars, which were perfect for us since we wanted to be alone in peace, not around others and away from the cooking sounds. The areas were nice and cozy, very comfortable.

The servers were very patient and accommodating, even recommended dishes and knew them by heart.

Overall a wonderful experience, from food to hospitality. I would absolutely love to dine here again!

I saw a one singular cockroach but Ive been going here since I was a infant and the food everytime ever since I can remember has been great all the employees are amazing and this is just one random cockroach I found on the wall but it really doesn’t mean anything its the only photo I took but overall 5/5 stars

I used to love Kobe ever since I was in high school 20 years ago. Their current lunch-time host changed that. Asking me, "Are you sure you know how to use chopsticks?" after I specifically asked for them was the last straw when it came to my issues with that guy. What a racist jerk. I'll stick with Nagoya just up the road for lunch from now on; where the service is great, the prices are better, and they don't insult their customers.

I like Kobe very much, not only because the food is delicious, but also because the service is good. The waiter is very considerate to meet various needs, and the manager will also come to ask how the food tastes. I enjoy eating here and I will come again next time.

It was Friday, August 30th.. I was taking my boyfriend and another friend out to eat at a Hibachi style restaurant. This would’ve been my boyfriend’s first time going to a place like this! We were so excited. We all walk in and wait at the counter to be seated. I have made a reservation for 3 online. A man walks over and I say “I have a reservation for 8:45 for us three” and the man says “we don’t take reservations under 5 people”. I think to myself.. how did I make the reservation then? He becomes agitated with us, but continues to say “I will still take you”. I assumed we would be seated with random people as this is how these types of restaurants usually are, so I thought making a reservation for 3 would be no biggie. The place wasn’t even busy!! Servers were standing around when we got there. At this point, i’m not wanting to spend my money here. So I say thanks I’ll go find another restaurant. Sir if you are reading this, please be nicer. You ran away a paying customer who did nothing wrong, taking money away from you and other employees. I just don’t get it! Will be spreading the word NOT to go here. I have worked in the service industry and would not have treated even the rudest of customers with such a tone. Anyway, there’s many places in the area that do Hibachi that are much nicer :)

Chef was fine. Our steaks were mixed up. We order Filet & Chicken with extra rice. The fillet was given to someone else and the extra rice was spread throughout the table until my companion stated hey I ordered extra rice. The fillets were cut up and given to the couple next to us. When served I asked what type of meat it was he state fillet. It definitely was the reg steak. I felt like we were rushed to eat with the way the server handed the bill to us right after the chef left. But we were the last to the table so I am sure the folks already there had been there for a while. I’ve been to Kobe quite a few times and this was not the best experience. (This was a Tuesday around 6pm)

Everything was insanely over priced. Don’t come here unless you’re willing to spend a minimum of 50$ a person and receive great service but mid food. The price doesn’t match the quality and that’s the problem.

Brought my little daughter to Kobe last night for her birthday. Was a little busy but the second me and my family got sat, the server made it a point to make my daughter feel special (candles, wishing happy birthday, etc.)and the chef did his thing on the grill what a show!! Prices were a little high but the portion sizes were huge so it all worked out! Will definitely be bringing my family here for all celebrations moving forward!!!

Honestly, it was some of the worst service I've ever had. The chef was friendly and cared about us, but EVERYTHING else was atrocious. We were there for over an hour and saw our server 5 times. She was rude, unhelpful, and forgetful. Only reason it is not a one star because the chef did well. I really don't want to write a huge paragraph explaining all the terrible things that happened. So I'll just leave it with this. The food was extremely bland, the service was terrible, and the management was the worst I've seen. You can get better service at a fast food restaurant. Save your money or go to Tokyo Steakhouse.

Went here for a hibachi dinner since we hadn't been in awhile. I'll start by saying this is not what it used to be and certainly isn't Benihana. The environment and service was fine. The food was OK at best. I ordered the ribeye and scallops. The Ribeye which is significantly more expensive was so fatty and full of connective tissue I had trouble finding a bite I could chew. The scallops were ok but nothing special. The waiter obviously spike no English which is fine but it was a very unenthusiastic and lacking service. He just cooked everything real fast then ran off. Not much of a show that my smaller kids were looking for. When you pay this much money I expect better quality in the food and service. Overall it's just OK and not worth the price.

Was having a great experience until we found metal shaving or brush in our food. We let the staff know and they let there manager/boss know. They didn’t believe it was a big deal. Hopefully they are more careful in the future. Wouldn’t recommend.

Just asked the server for a few moments to look over the menu. Another 20 minutes have passed and I asked the host if he was going to return. He looked out the curtain and then went back into the kitchen.

I was the ONLY person on the table side and couldn't get service. Pitiful excuse for service.

I’m not sure what an electric problem had to do with toilets moving and bad smell and very unclean bathroom. Lights were on and working. Also not sure why you chose to avoided all other problems in this review and gave a response on something that had nothing to do with my review but this just shows that customer service is terrible. Can’t even read peoples whole review on the problems at your establishment which also implies you do not plan on fixing anything just come up with any and every excuse

Bathrooms were absolutely terrible. Toilets moved when you sit down. Also smells like death. We were told 10 min at most before we could place our order. We sat at the table by the bar not at the grill. Took 15 minutes for someone to finally come over to us although the restaurant was empty. We then had to wait another 20 mins for anyone to come and bring us anything and the first thing that arrived was our food. But we still hadn’t received our sides or waters that we had ordered. So we asked atleast 3 people for our water and sides and finally a cook had to bring the water out for us. And to top it off they are trying to force us to do a 18% tip!!! I usually have no problem tipping. That is if you did the bare minimum of your job atleast. But it’s absurd that the restaurant is empty and it took over 45 mins just for a cup of water. And never even asked how everything came out. This place had gone from a family place to just greed. They feel that if you make people pay the gratuity in the first place then they don’t have to try and earn a tip.

I have been to other Kobe Japanese Steakhouses and this one is not even on the same playing feild. The chief looked like he was forced to work and the atmosphere wasn’t very inviting. The food lacked basic flavor. I’ll definitely be looking at other Japanese steakhouses next time I want some.

We just walked in to get some lunch. They were almost empty but said it would be 5-10 mins. They then seated us like 2 mins later. We were seated at a hibachi table with one other person. The waitress walked up and asked the other gentleman for his drink order and then he ordered food. She said nothing to us and walked away. She brought him water, soup, and salad and still didn’t say a word to us. We asked her why she hadn’t even spoken to us and she said she had all the other tables and her boss was yelling at her. We told her never mind and walked out. We were really looking forward to eating here today but they need to staff properly or not seat us until they’re ready.

First time here. 1000/10 would come here again. We drive an hour out for Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious, and cooked to perfection. The service was super nice and caring. The atmosphere is amazing. We even got a free cheesecake after our meal!

I'd never been to a "hibachi" type place, so this was definitely a new experience for me. I'd had their food off of uber eats once and had thought it was good but oh my gosh this was on a whole other level. I left this place wanting nothing but udon noodles all week and I'm still dying to have more. Would definitely upgrade to the ribeye next time but wow I can imagine how much better it'll be!

It was disheartening to go to a place like this when I had such high hopes for it. My family went for my daughters birthday to be greeted by HORRENDOUSLY spelling bathrooms, where behind the toilet was stacked with trash, and our hostess had a terrible attitude. She interrupted us multiple times and tried to charge us $10 extra for anything not made on the grill- so if I’m ordering a $23 dish then I’m really paying $33… that’s just out of touch. Additionally, she tried to charge my child money for “sitting on a chair” because I said they’d share off my plate since they were too small to get their own plate and then replied by rolling her eyes at me when I said my child would sit in my lap instead. We walked up and left before even ordering due to the ridiculous attitude and menu structure.

The waitress was unkind, the restaurant bathrooms were unkept, and the food and menu were ridiculously overpriced and out of touch. I would not recommend going here.

Ok here’s our experience we arrived and three young lady’s buried into they’re phones with a bad attitude because they waited 45 minutes and still had yet to eat we ordered some items and they complained about the wait and wanted to leave but were told they were getting complimentary food for having to wait at that point everything seemed rushed which lead to our waiter forgetting our order of sushi and $30 whisky I really wanted to try our food being cooked was placed on our plate but the sauces were given at the end once our food was getting cold but to top it off this was my sons first time and his birthday dinner so overall not the best experience

Went to Kobe’s for my daughters 5th birthday recently and was rather unimpressed.
For note- we have been 3 Hibachi establishments over the last 30 days due to travel and another Hibachi establishment in Austin within the past 10 days since my daughter fell in love with it.
This location was subpar for a few reasons:
1) The communication between server and chef was lacking. We ordered 8 things and 4 of them were incorrect. The hibachi chef seemed to be arguing with the server over her inability to get the order right.
2) They were trying to flip the table too fast. If you need to raise the prices to compensate for people enjoying the mountain of food made during hibachi, do so but don’t rush people away from the table.
3) Low effort bday celebration. We have been to 3 other spots and saw way more effort and attention to it.
4) Nickel and dime approach for standard hibachi.

I understand Austin doesn’t have many high end Hibachi operations but the opportunity is there for Kobe to put more attention to detail and make it a better experience.

I will say the sushi did taste good so complements on that.

We went off peak hours on purpose. The sushi roll my son ans I split was huge. Tasted very good, held together nicely.
I need to study the menue better before I go back. I played it saf and got the tilapia, it was good, but I saw a beautiful piece of white fish on the grill that I would have rather had. My son ordered Udon noodles, and loved them, his SO had steak and she said it was cooked perfectly. Taking meds so I opted for a virgin Pina colada. It was very good! My son and his SO had real drinks and they enjoyed them very much.
The show itself was an experience. Enjoyable and added the right touch. I will go back when I am well.

We ordered steak medium rare, it was medium-well at best. Also the manager was extremely rude and acted like he didn't even want us there even though we spent over $500 for a party of 7 adults and 2 kids. We arrive, we order drinks, then when the drinks arrived we ordered appetizers, then after the appetizers arrived we ordered entrees. After ordering entrees, it took at least 15-20 minutes before the chef finally showed up to cook. He did a decent job with the show, I've seen much better but it wasn't bad. Like I said steak was overdone but not inedible. Rice and veggies were good though. Then after eating the waiter asks if we wanted dessert so we asked for his recommendation, he says the fried ice cream so that's what we start to order, but then the manager ran over and very rudely interrupted us to say that we can't stay for dessert as they needed the table and that we'd have to take it to go (Note: at this point we had been there exactly 1 hour, which is a pretty normal amount of time I feel). Anyway, I don't know how the Hell he expected us to get fried ice cream all the way home without melting so we said no thanks to the dessert, paid and left. As we leave there are at least 3 empty 10 chair tables and not a single person waiting at the front, so I have no clue why the manager was in such a hurry to make us leave. Anyway, the waiter was very kind and apologized even though it wasn't his fault he had such a rude boss, so we left him a VERY nice tip (30%). Won't be going back though as long as that manager still works there.

Love this place! Their food is unmatched. The Sushi chef is truly inspired; you should try the chef’s choice sushi plate.
Their mushroom soup is my favorite from any Asian restaurant. Try Kobe for lunch time too!! Great prices.

I have never in my 33 years of life heard that if i share food i would be charged for the seat even though I ordered sushi which honestly was the worse sushi i ever had in my life even Krogers sushi tasted better than that. The chef was amazing, extremely funny and that was the best thing out of it all. The food just wasn’t good at all. We’re from Houston and we’ve definitely have had better ALOT better I’ll give 5 stars to the soup, the chocolate cake, and the chef.

This is a fun place for a night out with friends and a would be a cool third or fourth date place as the atmosphere allows you to talk without having to holler.

We have been going to Kobe for special occasions for many years. We were there in August 2023 celebrating a family birthday. I guess I am so mesmerized by the show and always have a few cocktails, because I have never noticed they add 18% gratuity on larger parties. EVERY time we have dined, I have tipped on the full price, which already included gratuity. Please look VERY closely at your bill for your table BEFORE you add the tip. Even if you split the bill they still add gratuity on ALL bills. I am disappointed that the server does not tell you that gratuity is already on there. Especially when they see an $85 tip ON TOP of the $70 they already added. Our total bill was $391 and the server got $155 tip! I am sorry, but that shows no integrity. They put the copy you sign and add tip on top so if you don't look at the itemized receipt BELOW, you may miss the fact that the gratuity is added. We probably won't be going back for a very long time, if at all. This just left such a bad taste in my mouth.

This place was amazing 👏 my mother brought me here for my birthday and I tried new things and ALL the food was delightful! I drank a whole bottle of saki and the chef was absolutely entertaining! Would do it again for sure!

Kobe has been one of my favorite lunch spots since 2010 or so.

Today, I met an old friend to catchup and we had lunch at a normal table (vs at the grill), which is how they're handling lunch these days.

We both got the samurai steak medium rare with fried rice and it also comes with miso soup. Its $14.95 for the lunch special now (extra for fried rice) but you also have other similar options like Teriyaki chicken, fish, veggie, or tofu.

The samurai steak comes with two dipping sauces and veggies and the cook on it is always great. The veggies and fried rice hit the spot too.

While you don't get the grill show at lunch, I don't really feel like I need it after having seen it and similar shows a have dozen times before.

Service is always friendly and good.

This is a great location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The service was great. The hibachi style is really delicious I would highly recommend it. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Yesterday was my first time here and I will totally return back.

We’ve been here once before and really enjoyed it, however this second time, maybe because it was a Friday?.. the place was really hot and smoky which I could’ve dealt with fine, it was the rushing. They sat us and in 40 minutes they were giving us to go boxes while asking if we wanted dessert. They brought over checks so quickly they basically booted us out of there it was so so noticeable everyone st our table mentioned it as we were getting up to leave. Food was good warmed up at home I guess hahaha

Avoid. Food was gross, staff was slow. Nail you with the $10 “plate fee” for each kid since they didn’t pick a “kids meal” even though they ordered double fried rice and two soups which totaled $13. With plate fees charge they were $23 each lol. I guess we should have ordered a kids meal, hold the meat and we would have made out better?! That was the nail in the coffin. I told them they need to use a little common sense with that real. We dropped 200+ so no need for that…. Just not right.

This restuarant experience was one of the worst in a while. Too many to detail so I will try to keep it as short as possible:
The salad looked and tasted like it was from the grocery store clearance. The veggies were over cooked, The shrimp was tasteless. They charge extra fir seasined rice but do not cook with protein. The cook burnt the eggs, hiw do a professional do that!
The Hibachi cook was less than than desirable.
The food was tasteless.
And to add insult to injury one of the workers came over and started cleaning the top of the grill with a duster and then scrubbibg and cleaning the grill while we were still trying to eat.
Regretfully this was not a good location to celebrate our sister's 70th birthday.
We should have walked out, however, since we were not from the Austin area we roughed it, bad idea on our part.

I went here on a first date at about 6pm. When we entered we did have to wait about 20-30 minutes because the place was busy. Once a table became available we were escorted to a table. We were seated with another group of people at our table. Shortly after being seated, our orders were taken & our chef arrived at our table. He was very funny and charismatic. He really created a fun, & happy vibe around the table & made everyone at the table laugh as he cooked the food. The food was delicious. This place really made a great location for a first date & my date & I left very satisfied with our experience.

I tried calling to inquire on wait times and reservations. I was extremely polite and simply wanted to learn as this is the first time i have come across this restaurant. I understand that restaurants can be busy, but that is no excuse to be rude to the people that want your products and services.

I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but I worry that these restricted 5 star reviews others mentioned might be fake. The whole experience was rushed. We were in and out in 45 minutes. We ordered appetizers and we were at the grill, too. All of the food was in front of us at the same time almost. It was not an experience (which is the main reason you go!). I have great memories of Kobe as a child. Now I’m just hoping we don’t get sick tonight. My stomach already feels weird as does my husband’s. I would avoid this place.

Our chef was boring and he overcooked and dried out our chicken, steak, pork and shrimp. I ordered my $38 New York steak to be medium rare and the dipping sauces were awful the sweet and sour sauce was watered down and VERY spicy and it took like 10 min or so before I could taste again. Dinner for 3 was over $150. For 5 yrs I kept hearing how great this place was, so finally my Husband took me there for Mother's Day. All the hype for nothing. I didn't complain to anyone because it was Mothers day and my Husband and Daughter were trying to do a nice thing for me. Also it was hot and humid inside.

Best sushi I've ever had, hands down. Each bite was so delicious that both my stomach and my heart were very satisfied.

Soup = warm, mild, and lovely
Salad = fresh, crisp and appetizing
Sushis = truly fresh and the B E S T
Ice cream dessert = great end to the meal.

They had areas that were away from the hibachi bars, which were perfect for us since we wanted to be alone in peace, not around others and away from the cooking sounds. The areas were nice and cozy, very comfortable.

The servers were very patient and accommodating, even recommended dishes and knew them by heart.

Overall a wonderful experience, from food to hospitality. I would absolutely love to dine here again!

I hate to post negative reviews.
But we had the worst experience last night. It was a Wednesday had reservations for 7:30. Got there early.
Took a bit to get seated but that's ok. The problem was the food! Horrible!
And the rushed service plus the boring chef. That also rushed our food.
Spicy garlic edamame was inedible.
Half frozen and mushy.
Tempura calamari was also inedible. The Tempura was raw, uncooked in the middle, calamari barely cooked
The vegetables were unevenly proportioned. My mom basically got all bok choy.
Food was blah.
The worst part was how we were rushed and the chef.
Party of 6 adults seated around 730. By 8pm they're asking if we want togo boxes. Chef was maybe there for 15 minutes tops. Minimal interaction.
And there was no one waiting to be seated.
We were kind and considerate to everyone. Yet we were treated like a heard of cattle.

If I could’ve gave this place no stars I would! I called to place a Togo order and as I tried to place an order. The lady that I spoke with was yelling on the phone and kept cutting me off as if I wasn’t a customer. So I decided to hang up and then I called back to speak with a manager.I find out that the lady that was yelling and being very rude towards me was the manager! I would never eat here especially receiving a rude encounter from a manager. If I am putting my money into a business I expect great customer service.If you want great customer service don’t eat here.

Service is bad. They won't seat you until all your party has arrived; when the waitress came to get our drinks order we asked if we could order food as we had three hungry kids and they wouldn't let us order because they had a table before us (not sure if that's because they don't have a kitchen except for the grills on the tables) but we were going to order sushi.
The food was OK.

This place is the best. Went to celebrate a 16th B-Day. First time I'd ever been there - food was awesome, waiter and cook were the nicest guys. Watching him cook the food in front of you is super cool, because what he does is amazing - the fire so close to you. He was funny as well - there was about 10 of us in our family that went, and service was spot on for our group.

Went with a group of 8 people and we were seated promptly for lunch. Lots of parking available for free. We sat at a display grilling table. A full range of adult beverages is available for those who seek them. We had the teriyaki chicken and the steak, grilled with much showmanship and flash right before us. I enjoyed the soup and salad, both quite tasty, and my teriyaki chicken with rice and veggies. The only drawback to the food is it has sauces which are quite salty....be aware if you are watching your salt. Also, house policy means you must order a protein to sit at the display table. If you do not they will charge you $10 for your seat at the show, regardless. I can recommend this venue particularly for any special occasion dining experience... birthdays, anniversaries, etc...

The host was cold and only cared about filling the tables quickly. The chef was inexperienced both in cooking and performance. There were seven of us and we all agreed that the food was overcooked and too salty to eat, even my kids who usually loves Teppanyaki food refused to eat that night. Would not come back.

Been going here for ~20yrs and it used to be great service and food. New owner and management took over and all things (price, food quality and especially service) has gone down the drain! The folks working the Hibachi grill are rude and appear disgruntled. The Management (especially the lady manager) doesn't care as they've built a name for themselves so have an air of defiance and arrogance about any complaints you make!

Unfortunately, I can't give this place less than 1 star, but if I could, I would. I don't even know where to start with this place. I've been in the service industry for 15 years, and I've never seen a place drop the ball like this. I would have been completely fine with my $500 bill if I hadn't had to go home and make more food. We were rushed through the entire experience so fast that despite ordering multiple appetizers and drinks, we had out soups and salads out before the apps arrived, and entrees were cooked before we could even get started. Our server seemed to be displeased that we wanted to spend our money.
I saw Steakhouse on the sign, so I figured I'd at least get a good steak to finish off my horrible experience but was immediately discouraged when I saw the steak hit the grill. I ordered a ribeye and paid for a ribeye, I got an 8oz sirloin that was diced up expeditiously to prevent anyone from noticing, but I did.
And still, we tried our best to salvage our meal and even ordered desserts and another round of drinks even though the lights were coming up and they were obviously trying to close. (2 hours early) Despite not enjoying our meal I still tipped the server the standard 25% and she gladly accepted it without mentioning the tiny print on the menu that we looked at in low lights said that parties of 5 get auto gratuity. She gladly accepted the 130 dollar tip without so much as a courteous double check.
When we called back to adjust the tip amount, the manager told us that they received that complaint a lot and there's nothing she can do about it. All in all, it was the easiest of the worst experiences I've had in a very long time.

Food cost increased alot. In past, for birthday got special chop sticks & dessert. Got neither. Check automatically had tip added but never said anything & didn't see since bottom had tip suggestions.. Left a generous tip and didn't realize gratuity was originally added. They ended with a 48% tip. Feel scammed. Called & left message for manager but never heard back. Same thing happened to couple with us. They got a 45% tip. In the past, they didn't automatically add the tip. None of us will return and we've been going since they opened in Austin

The hibachi cooks are 5 star. The management is a 3. We had an amazing waiter but the manager chewed him out in front of our table. Followed him to the kitchen yelling - not professional. Food is okay and drinks are good. We have been here numerous times it can be fun but few times we have been seated with unpleasant folks. Seating should be a bit better. We have sat next to couples arguing before. Very Jerry Springer show. Overall worth a chance to try this place.
