Uchibā, loosely "Uchi Bar" in Japanese, is Uchi's izakaya‑inspired cocktail bar and restaurant delivering a vast selection of Japanese whiskies, yakitori grill items and Uchi classics.
Everything about our experience here was exceptional. The vibe, service, and especially the food were all amazing. Brooke was our server and I can’t say enough good things about her. I highly recommend the 72 hour marinated short rib and the fatty tuna w/ caviar. Will definitely be back soon.

We came here for our honeymoon 1 month wedding anniversary. I definitely recommend getting reservations. They have indoor and outdoor options. Everything that was brought to the table was fresh, tasted amazing, and was put together with such thought for flavor melding. The pork belly was a favorite of mine. I also really enjoyed the Hama chili. The waitress was knowledgeable and able to provide good recommendations based on what we had already ordered and liked. They have a happy hour menu during the week that we ordered from. The tables have a unique little shelf for the menus so you can keep them and look at them when you want to order more. This is a great place to celebrate something special.

I enjoyed the food at Uchiba! The quality is just as good as Uchi on South Lamar, but Uchiba offers a more spacious setting and easier reservations. We loved the fresh sashimi and the sake recommended by our server, as well as the wagyu and desserts. Everything was excellent, and we can’t wait to return soon!

In Austin for the night with my husband and decided to go to Uchiba. We are familiar with Uchi in Dallas and Houston and Uchiba in Dallas and were really impressed with this location. It might be our favorite out of all the ones we have tried. We sat at the sushi bar and our sushi chef Austin was incredible all night. He gave us great suggestions from the menu that we thoroughly enjoyed and made sure to course out each dish for us. We also had Tristan taking our drink orders and he was great too! All in all a great experience that is worth it, especially if you have an appreciation for delicious food and drinks.

It was ok food (some good some not so much) but for the price and being from the "Uchi" line it was rather disappointing.
We started with, yuca chips and that was well season and off to a good start.
Follow with irish point oyster, good as well.
Australian wagyu beef was on the sweet side which may or may not be to your liking but there was no charcoal flavor to it which is what makes it a Yakitori. Without it's just grill beef skewer.
Hama chili, that was really good, best one of the night!
Muki hotate aburi, nice char flavor and with a cool slicing presentation.
Madai crudo, good one.
Soft shell crab bao was nice and crispy.
Shishito peppers, good appetizer with a little bit of spiciness.
Zero sen, basic hamachi roll, good filler.
Sake toro, fresh fatty salmon cut.
Pho wagyu beef dumplings, that was not good. There nothing matching the pho seasoning but even if it was named something else, it was just not good.
Crispy fried tteokbokki, simple desert but good.
Toasted black rice ice cream, didn't like it and even told the waiter to take it back. She was nice enough to remove from the bill. So thumbs up for service there!

The food was great - the toro and hot rock were absolutely amazing. The restaurant lacked in professional service for a high-end restaurant. The server didn’t check in on us for over 20 minutes - something I wouldn’t expect from the Uchi brand.

Food was good (not great) although I feel like the flavors at uchiko are way superior. My one complaint at uchiko was the wine list needs work. Whoever does the wine list at uchiba needs to be fired immediately. Terrible wine list here.

Food was really delicious and excellent. We loved the crudo dishes and the fish was very fresh and lovely. The cocktail was also very delicious, I highly recommend the hachi no hiza for a refreshing yuzu treat. We came for a friend’s birthday and had reservations at 8:30pm and were seated 30 minutes later at 9pm. This was understandable for the busy night, but they said that our table had just paid when we got there, and we were waiting for them while other parties were being seated after us. The service was not the best this night, which we totally understand given how busy it was, but it did feel like our service was affected by having a person with a food allergy. Because of this restaurant being part of the Uchi brand, we expected more empathetic and professional service, but instead felt awkward and unseen. Additionally, they would bring out food and say it was “allergy friendly” and then proceed to say it had fish, which was the allergen we reported for one of the guests in our party. Additionally, we received an extra nigiri piece that we did not order and when we notified our server, he said it would be on the house since it had been at our table. However, when we paid and checked the itemized receipt later, the extra nigiri was still charged. Another server was very kind and accurate when serving dishes, was happy to do something for our friend’s birthday which I appreciated deeply. Overall mostly disappointed with the service of a dinner that we had high anticipation for. However the food was delicious and we still appreciate being served this evening.

Lynwood is the experience you want! He is absolutely personable but authentic, and thay is what we want in the world. Super polite, friendly, thoughtful, plus watched him navigate a less than pleasant situation he did not deserve with poise and grace. Tonight was our 20 years together and he made it feel Austin Texas Authentic!

Great meal at Uchiba! Our waitress, Breezy, made the meal extra special and sent over a few free apps & drinks when she found out it was a very special occasion! She also did an amazing job helping navigate my husband’s peanut allergy.
Menu highlights include the watermelon, fig & feta nigiri, seared scallops, and mushroom dumplings.
Thanks, Uchiba, for a memorable dinner!

I have to commend Uchiba for providing exceptional customer service each and every time. I've visited the Austin location three times and the quality of the food & service never disappoints. The waitstaff always provides the best recommendations for each type of palate and they make sure to go above & beyond for birthdays. When deciding where to celebrate my birthday this year, Uchiba was an easy choice since I've seen how they've treated other friends here for their special day.
My only piece of constructive feedback would be to ensure reservation times are accurate. We've been asked to wait for our table to be ready all three times I've visited, but the dining experience definitely makes up for it.

Oh boy, not what I was expecting - in a bad way. At this time, I cannot recommend this place.
Atmosphere: This is where the place mostly shines. The decor and energy in the room is wonderful - takes you to a place like NYC or LA without going over the top. They did a fine job with the interior design. One small issue - something is just off with the lighting - very hard to see and read menus, etc.
Food: Very polarizing experience. The sushi itself is what you'd expect - pretty fresh, good ratio between fish and rice, etc. You can definitely tell the fish is of high quality. 4/5 rating for me on that. Unfortunately, this is where it goes downhill --> we tried the chicken buns, abe tofu, wagyu skewers, pho dumplings, and more, but nearly all of the cooked food was bland and flavorless. Each dish was missing enough seasoning to make it memorable or tasty, so that was a huge disappointment, especially when I wouldn't necessarily choose this place to go eat sushi alone. Would a little salt or soy sauce be too much to ask for? LOL. The cooked food was easily 2/5 rating - disappiontment.
Service: This was terrible. Our server was nice enough, but the cadence of dishes arriving and the speed of service was horrendous. The food came out in nonsensical order and at random times with long waits in between. surprising given that these are small dishes or sushi and we had an early dinner (6pm-ish). Beyond that, we had to wait ages for certain dishes and also a long time to get my check back to sign. Probably had to wait 10 minutes between them taking my credit card and them bringing it back to me to sign. That is unacceptable.
Value: 2/5. Unfortunately, until they sort out the speed of service issue and figure out how to make their cooked food actually taste flavorful, a $200+ dinner for 2 (with no drinks) is way too much to be asking for.

Open bar seating with no hostess oversight. People hover like sharks, and hold seats for trashy people, significantly downgrades the atmosphere. Food is good but the vibes are terrible.

Disrespectful staff without manners (other than waiter Anthony, who saved this night by being polite, kind, and had excellent product knowledge: everything he suggested that night was delicious, and he was excellent in describing food courses and why Uchi family is proud of their food. I hope the business across the street would recruit him: that night, we stayed only because of him). I arrived on time, but two other friends were running late. Right when I entered, the waitress ran at me without introducing herself and said, "Hey, can you put your skirt down?" and ran away laughing out loud. I was wearing a very long skirt with a high slit and a short skirt underneath (including the photo). Even if you see your guest has something, would you ever deliver the feedback this way? Then I came to the hostess table, and they looked at me in a cold way and said I couldn't be seated without my friends and needed to go to the bar and wait. I went to the bar, and the bartender lady told me I couldn't sit there and those seats were reserved. When I asked where I was supposed to wait, she answered she didn't know, and I could ask the hostess again (by the way, this seat was not occupied till the end of our dinner). When my first friend arrived, we came back to the hostess table, and they told us we absolutely could be seated if we were going to order drinks and food (thank you, Cap). My third friend, whom we were still waiting for, was on the phone with me all this time, and she requested to go to Proper because she couldn't believe the staff could be so petty. But while we were waiting for her, Anthony started to serve our table, and he was terrific at handling the experience I had initially. I visited many places in Europe and America but experienced something like that for the first time. Yikes.

It honestly feels like Uchiba receives the leftover ingredients from Uchi and Uchiko, hoping patrons won’t notice. Unfortunately, after our recent experience, we certainly did.
My wife and I visited Uchiba on a Friday night for a rare date as new parents, hoping for the same high-quality sushi and service we’ve experienced at Uchi and Uchiko. This was our second time at Uchiba together. Sadly, Uchiba fell short on multiple fronts, and we left disappointed after spending nearly $400 on a lackluster meal.
Right from the start, the air conditioning was blasting so hard it was moving the menus on the table, which set an uncomfortable tone. We ordered drinks (which were great) and a few warm dishes since it was so chilly. The Suzuki Yuki, recommended by our server, had decent flavors, but the carrots were undercooked. The Chicken Dumplings, which we’d loved on a previous visit, tasted like frozen supermarket fare this time around.
What really stood out was the lack of knowledge and enthusiasm from the staff, which is not something we’ve ever experienced at Uchi or Uchiko. Our server didn’t seem familiar with the fish menu, and when the nigiri arrived, the food runner oddly suggested we eat the mackerel first “if we didn’t like mackerel.” This was confusing since we’d clearly ordered the mackerel and other fish with stronger flavors because we enjoy them. At Uchi or Uchiko, the food runners would’ve been excited about our selections.
The nigiri itself was mediocre, but the Smoked Sake Crudo was the real disappointment. A dish we had previously loved, this time the salmon was warm, and the quality had clearly gone downhill. The Hama Chili also failed to impress.
After cocktails and dessert, we left unsatisfied and still hungry. We wanted to order more sushi but had already realized it wasn’t worth it. We’re really disappointed because having a great sushi spot with cocktails downtown would have been perfect for our rare nights out. Sadly, after this experience, we won’t be back.

Been here 3-4 times and always run into some issue with them.
They do not accommodate allergies even when it is a straightforward thing to do. The Gyotoro nigiri is one of my favorite dishes served at uchi so I wanted my wife to try it. She is allergic to rice, so we requested for it to be served without rice. This would be a very easy thing to accommodate, yet they refused.
I was there for happy hour and ordered some nigiri, but they never showed up so I asked about them. The server tells me he forgot to tell me they couldn't make it because they didn't have caviar left. Due to the price of the happy hour being much better than the regular, I asked to have it served without it since they put it on top. Again, very easy thing to change and accommodate and they refused.
Service is the worst at this location. The least attentive and helpful by far (compared to Uchi and Uchiko). Forgetful, per my last comment. The bar is slow to make drinks. A lot of their drinks are cocktails premixed (which is honestly kind of lazy and disappointing). But with how slow it is already, maybe it's a good thing...
I love the regular Uchi and this concept has been nothing but disappointing. I don't expect as good of service as something like an Otoko but close to their other Uchi restaurants. Will likely be skipping this moving forward.

Underwhelmed and disappointed is how we left after our visit to Uchiba. Upon arrival we were actually impressed by the ambiance of the place, the decor is stunning. However, the food was average at its best and what really ruined our night was the lack of service and attitude of the staff. Our waitress was nowhere to be found half of the time and barely acknowledged our presence. At the end of the evening she took our card and brought us the bill without saying a word. Once we brought it to her attention, we did receive two gift cards for the lack of service as an “apology”. Ultimately, service is mediocre at best, we were made to feel awkward and not wanted. We will not be returning.

Despite having reservations and having our entire party present, when we checked in with the hostess we stood around waiting to be seated. Half our party went to the restroom and upon returning weren’t escorted to our table but had to wander around looking for where we’d been seated.
The outdoor table was dirty, bird droppings and all. It took more than five minutes to be greeted by our server and nearly a quarter of an hour to bring beverages. We had to ask a runner for our second drink order and my wine arrived precisely 10 minutes before asking for the check.
The food was good, however the menu doesn’t list all ingredients in the rolls and the server didn’t actually discuss the food. They did ask about allergies but not about any general dislikes, otherwise the aversions would’ve been declared. The first roll contained a highly undesirable ingredient and wasn’t returned sans grossness until right before the check arrived.
All in all, I will stick to any other Uchi location. This garbage service wasn’t worth paying to valet downtown for.

Faith was an amazing server!!! She asked us if we were celebrating anything tonight, and I said yes, We haven't had a date night in forever and chose Uchiba to try out the food. Because the table was small, I informed her in advance that we were going to order A LOT of food, and she told me not to worry and that she would pace it all out for us, lol! She did a superb job making sure each of our dishes came out as soon as we finished the ones at our table! Faith was very attentive, and we feel like she knew exactly which dishes to start off with and which dishes should come out next!! It was perfect !!! We were able to enjoy each dish at a smooth pace and we were very impressed with her detailed knowledge of each dish we had questions about and gave great recommendations on dishes to try as well when I couldn't make up my mind! Her personal favorites were a 10/10 for us!! What made it exceedingly special with our experience is that we received 2x pieces of freaking delicious blue fin nigiri on the house for this special occasion!!! She was extremely attentive to the type of fish/ sushi we were ordering, hence the perfect dish to us from them!! Faith displayed exceptional customer service with sincere personalized interactions that were above and beyond!! This was our first time at Uchiba, and Faith definitely made it a significant and wonderful experience for us, and we truly appreciate it!!! Her service was outstanding and deserves recognition 👏 🙌!! Thank you so much, we will be back!!!

Love this place. You got the same quality of Uchi but on a more lay down vibe and most importantly with a la carte menu that will not kill the bank.
Only flaw was that after a while the AC was set extremely cold. I planned to order some more food but I felt very uncomfortable by the blade of air above me.

The difference between Uchi, Uchiko and Uchiba, is that Uchiko and Uchiba are more affordable. While Uchi is more expensive, it is more classy and intimate and still remains not only one of my favorite restaurants, but the best of the chain.
I loved the decor of Uchiba, but I felt it was a tad too dark. We were a party of 6 and were seated in a booth where the light shades were situated behind us with no lighting on the table or any type of chandelier above us. For someone that now has to were readers, I had a difficult time perusing the menu. Our waiter Tristan had offered to bring us a candle, but it never materialized, so we had to use the flashlights on our phones.
The ambiance was energetic and the waiters were hustling as it was quite busy. The menu was a bit overwhelming as there were way too many options to choose from and with no instructions or suggestions from Tristan, we decided on the following:
Chicken dumplings-not traditional steamed, but were presented like crab rangoons. Very good
Shishito peppers-way too much sauce, but still packed some heat
Wagyu tartare-delicious
Kinko dumplings-delicious vegetarian option
Brussel sprouts-good, but a little too much sauce
Karaage-amazing
Spicy tuna roll-just ok; a bit bland
Bluefin otoro aburi (seared)-hands down the best dish
Smoked sake crudo-crisp, innovative and very good
Saki maki roll-a tad fishy
Hot rock-delicious
Chocolate crémeux-tasted like a Reese pieces pie. It was very good!
The thing that annoyed us the most about Tristan was that I waited quite a bit to order the Jungle Freebird and after 2 sips, I sent it back due to a terrible aftertaste and my husband did not notice that he never removed it from the bill. We also told him that we all wanted just 1 bite each of dessert and he talked us into getting two chocolate cremeux which, in the end, we did not need as 1 would have sufficed.
While Uchiba did not add an automatic gratuity due to our party size, if you do dine here with a large group, I do suggest whoever pays the bill, to thoroughly look over it before paying and also, if you are on the fence about how many dishes you should order, start with one and add more later.
I will come back and the next time, only focus on the sushi/sashimi options.
**REVISION**
I revisited Uchiba as it really is a swanky, sexy setup and I wanted to give them another chance as sometimes the staff can get overwhelmed and with that, service can sometimes lack. I am so glad that we went back because it was a tad brighter, not too loud and crazy and the service we received from Devin was on point. As soon as we were seated, he approached us, inquired if we had ever been to Uchiba, provided the specials for the evening and then offered water and drinks. Our beverage choices of the evening were The Vice, Citrus Old Fashioned, and Subarashi. I am not a fan of old fashioned's, but my friend said it was a refreshing take on the classic old fashioned. However, the Vice and Subarashi were both delish.
We started with the shishito peppers as well as the bluefin crudo and just let Devin curate our meal for the rest of the night and we loved it! Their menu is so extensive and due to the fact that we all love surprises, it seemed the best route to go and I highly suggest it. After asking a few questions regarding preferences as well as dietary restrictions, we let Devin loose. I do not recall all of the dishes, but every bite was scrumptious and due to this recent experience, I will be back again!

Another incredible addition to the Uchi family of restaurants! Adding distinctive Bao & Dumpling offerings done the only way Uchi would do it. Daily specials of unique, burst in your mouth type offerings, are always a good way to see how the well skilled chefs have married different foods together. You will not be disappointed. We sat at the sushi bar, as having the sushi chefs give you the details of each offering and appeals to my need to hear what they are working with and why.
The service was a little slow at the sushi bar, outside of the sushi chefs (they were very attentive and informative) but drinks or requests for the servers took a bit of time. Empty plates left behind for longer than normal (huge pet peeve of mine as an ex restaurant owner)so i just pushed them aside in my rather small space at the bar. It was a Tuesday night so not incredibly busy. Reservations are always recommended though, better to be safe than sorry.
The atmosphere was beautiful but can't say there was anything that stuck out other than it was comfortable, lovely, and muted wood tones. Love the large patio! The evening was breezy so it was quite pleasant for the patio diners. And thats not something I thought I'd say at the end of July in Austin! ;-)
It will always be a wonderful experiance at an Uchi restaurant. As an Austinite I'm proud to call Uchi ours!

I came here for an anniversary dinner a few weeks back and was very disappointed. Not only was the food underwhelming, but when we left, we were handed a flier claiming that there has been a campaign against its sister restaurant, Uchi, calling on them to remove foie gras from their menu. After learning about it, I'm horrified that Uchiba's leadership refuses to do so. I'm a meat-eater, but foie gras is just plain cruel. The images are tattooed in my head. I won't be returning.

Disappointing compared to Uchika up north and Uchiba in Dallas. Food was just ok. Hot plates / skewers came out cold. Drinks were good, only reason for 3 stars. For ~$100 a head, I’d eat elsewhere.

My husband and I sat at the Sushi bar with Austin as our chef. We asked him to make a lot of selections for us and we did not regret it. Everything he put in front of us was better than the last. The meal was $220 without the drinks and absolutely worth every bite. We will absolutely be back!

We left so disappointed. For a highly rated, expensive restaurant, we expected so much more from the food. Our first dish was so heavily salted and every other plate was forgetful and lacking flavor.. we paid $180 for two to get happy hour food, 1 cocktail, 3 beers and tip. Sure the fish tasted fresh, but that’s all you get really. For the tiniest plates and very high prices, we were expecting them to have some kind of flavor but they just… didn’t.
We came to celebrate our anniversary and our server was attentive and very nice, but sadly the experience left a lot to be desired.

HEAR ME OUT !!! ANTHONY IS THE BEST AT THE BARTENDING SERVICE!
My husband and I had dinner at Uchiba, and while our initial experience with another staff member was disappointing, Anthony, the bartender, completely turned our evening around. Anthony stood out with his attentiveness, kindness, and respect. Despite the restaurant being busy, he took his time with us, sharing his extensive knowledge and making us feel like old friends. Anthony’s outstanding service made our night truly special. If you visit Uchiba, be sure to ask for Anthony – he’s the best! Special hint: He looks like Jack Dawson’s friend (Fabrizio) in the Titanic Movie 😉

Anthony is an exceptional bartender who made our night unforgettable! His skills and creativity in crafting delicious cocktails are top-notch. Antonio's friendly and engaging personality added a wonderful touch to our experience. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Highly recommend stopping by and seeing Anthony in action. Cheers!

Everything about this place was amazing. Our waitress, Georgia, was phenomenal and absolutely loved her. We definitely felt taken care of and attended. Me and my partner spent our 1 year anniversary here and are so happy with our choice.

After visiting Uchi in Austin and Denver, I knew I had to try Uchiba and I’m so glad I did. Absolutely delicious, amazing service, and such good vibes. The beef pho dumplings and tiger cry bao were divine and I couldn’t get enough. They had some really nice drinks here as well! Highly recommend

From the moment you walk in you are welcomed and the decor is so intentional with every detail making you feel so happy as you soak in decor and atmosphere. Relaxed elegance in all the curves, soft seating booth chambers and intimate yet lively - that’s just the 1st impression.
Our waitress in combination with the service team worked together and never missed a beat and took time to answer questions from explaining the prep process, the sourcing of the freshest of ingredients and their recommendations-this elevated our experience.
My son and I had 9 courses including dessert and that was plenty. It’s hard to have a favorite, but I highly recommend what we had; Hot Rock, Akami & Hamachi Nigiri, Birria Bao and Spicy Tuna. We also had the signature Uchi Fried Milk truffle.
Parking is easy with Valet or Garage.
I can’t wait to go back!

Went for dinner with my fiance. make sure to specify if you only want one or two of each item as they are priced differently. our server assumed we wanted two of something so charged us double. good service otherwise!
tiger cry bao: 4/5
kinoko dumplings: 5/5
sake toro nigiri: 5/5
ebi katsu yakatori: 5/5, best thing of the night
australian wagyu beef yakatori: 3/5, too chewy
muki hotate aburi: 5/5, close second best
sake maki makimono: 2/5, very fishy
spicy tuna makimono: 4/5

We enjoyed every bite! Being big fans of the other Uchi concepts, we were super excited to try Uchiba. We loved seeing some of the the classics like the Hama Chili. I loved the skewers, pork belly was my fav. The short rib croquette was dynamite. Don't pass up dessert, their pastry game is always on point, Fried Milk was awesome. Thanks to our server Blake for making our evening so enjoyable. Excited to come back soon!

A splendid meal. We came here for our anniversary having previously enjoyed other restaurants of the same lineage. The food was incredible and service was great from how the meal was brought out to us and everything explained to how the small issue we experienced was handled. Definitely a favorite place to go that I can highly recommend.

While the service was commendable and in line with the Uchi/Ko tradition, the culinary experience left something to be desired. A handful of dishes were regrettably too heavily seasoned, tipping into excess saltiness. The restaurant’s concept seems to be at a crossroads, perhaps simplifying its name to ‘Bā’ would better reflect its current direction.

I will unfortunately not be returning to uchiba due to disrespectful and petty staff. My friends and I usually love to come here for weekend drinks and dinner. We were 15 minutes late which is the grace period. I walked in and the hostess greeted me with an ugly look and told me the cooks refused to serve us. She later explained that they waited until the last minute to reject us which is petty and she proceeded to be extremely disrespectful to my friend. It seemed malicious and left us with a bad taste in our mouths. We were left without dinner reservations due to the mistreatment. We will now be going to neighborhood sushi from now on. We were shocked and how nice and accommodating they were when the same situation happened. It’s a shame the horrible service ruined our longtime love for uchiba.

A clear winner in Austin. You can count to be taken care of: offered a good and genuine conversation, no matter if you’re seated at the sushi or the cocktail bar. The food is high end and the best quality one can wish for. I recommend trying their dumplings and listen to the personal recommendations! Love this place

We had an excellent experience here. We sat at the sushi bar and had DJ taking care of us. We asked him for his recommendations and ultimately decided to have him just surprise us, and he essentially made us up a full menu on the spot with multiple perfect courses, all with great timing from each other. I recommend this restaurant and would definitely recommend DJ if you find yourself at the sushi bar.

DISAPPOINTED with Uchiba!
I have been a huge fan of Tyson Cole's other restaurants Uchi and Uchiko; however, his Uchiba izakaya restaurant missed the mark for me.
I have been to izakayas in Japan so call me spoiled, but I also know what I am looking for, and this was not it.
Pork bao bun was laughingly inferior to Bar Peached. They also had a hot chicken bun, which was more like a slider and definitely not something I would see in any kitchen in Japan.
We did have a nice banquette table and the host staff was friendly, but our server was overworked with a busy bar area and our tables.
Definitely give this one a miss and visit Uchi or Uchiko instead.

AN ADVENTURE OF A MENU; WISH MY STOMACH WAS BIGGER!
I had four food items, all were above average, but the broccolini dish takes the cake! It was a roller coaster of flavors and textures - a compliment.
A sazerac is what I always order, and I had one and was pleased with it. The other drink was a "tsurai" and it was very delicious; a sort spicy marg sort of vibe.
I'd be going back to venture into the rest of the menu.

If you come here for the food, you’ll never be disappointed by it. We go the first Monday of every month for Uncommon Ramen. The fish is fresh, the menu has creative takes and classic ones, and the HH is really good.
If you come here for the service, you’re in for a ride. Wrong drinks, wrong food, food came out in strange increments (getting an appetizer after you finished your entree and sushi roll), wrong checks, you name it. We’ve had the best of times and the worst of times at Uchiba. Run out of water and you ordered the spiciest thing on the menu? Good luck, you’re going to be dying looking for a waiter.
That being said, we keep going back. The food is that good.

We had a reservation for small birthday party (and I mentioned BD getting a reservation), got on time, and then waited for 35 minutes for our table. Then another 15 minutes for waiter to take our order. Then another 40 minutes till the first dish was brought in! No need to mention we missed our reservation to another bar which was 2.5 hours after this one. Thank you for the ruined party, great job Uchiba.

Like their sister restaurants Uchibā lives up to all hype and expectations. The highlights of our meal were the tiger cry bao, hama chili, and bluefin otoro. We ended on their divine chocolate crémeux dessert. I always appreciate how helpful the wait staff is at these restaurants in guiding you through the menu and recommending unique dishes. We will certainly be back for more!

Wow, not sure where to even begin. I'll start by saying the ambiance and the space is very modern and Moody. Low lighting, comfortable seating. Very great for an intimate date night with a friend or loved one. The service is superior. They were late seating us for our reservations but not a moment was spared for them to care for us, just a little bit extra and it really went a long way with us. The waiting area by the bar has comfortable lounge seating and you can order a cocktail while you wait.
I'm afraid to say that I did not note our server's name, but I think it was Spencer. He was training with someone and was absolutely excellent. They started us with a complimentary dish for the late seating, it was the seared scallops. Let me tell you this dish was beyond anything I've had. The textures, the flavors, the butter, everything was just perfect. I have Have to say the fatty tuna roll was my favorite, so much that we ordered two of them. They have a lot of specialty sections on their menu. So enjoy what you order because some of it may not be there next time. I appreciated that they highlighted who is in the kitchen on the top left of the menu, very lovely feature. There was a small pairing menu that had a bite plus a small serving of one of their cocktails and it was a really great experience. We selected the watermelon pairing and I never thought I'd enjoy watermelon in this way, I was very impressed. There is an extensive cocktail and wine menu as well as sake, they have a full bar here. You can get a little bit of sushi and a little bit from the Japanese grill, so something for everyone. This place is superb, it was my first time here and I definitely will be back.
Be sure you make a reservation as it's very busy, the weather currently isn't great for patio seating but it is available out front and very well curated.
Parking is a bit challenging because it's downtown so you either have to find street parking, a garage, or the valet out front.

We had a blast at Uchibā. The food is just phenomenal, every dish was great. Only one I’d change is the waguy skewer, it just tasted a bit too much like regular steak… the fish on the other hand was so fresh. Our waiter took great care of us and recommended some amazing dishes. Don’t sleep on the oysters!

Hubby and I went out on a Monday for a little impromptu date night. The patio was really nice, great service, food was delicious. So delicious we forgot to take pictures. We came hungry and ordered a lot, so our bill was as expected.
Standout dish: charred broccolini. Seriously. Everything else we expected to be delicious but this dish was insanely good and really surprised us.
Drinks were delish as well but the fave was my “hachi no hiza“.
Give it a try!

Update: The owner called me directly to talk about how things could improve which was very thoughtful. He mentioned from my feedback there were already changes in place and I am looking forward to going back and giving it another shot. I do really think Uchi is a great brand and was shocked at my experience. I think perhaps after a few more months they will be more streamlined.
Original:
As Jerry Seinfeld says, they know how to take a reservation, but they don’t know how to hold a reservation. Being sat 45 minutes after the fact is embarrassing for an upscale establishment. From a dropped appetizer all over the floor, to returning an undrinkable cocktail - has anyone here worked in a restaurant before? Stick to Uchi or Uchiko. This place is a mess.

Excellent experience! My partner and I got a little lost in the parking garage that we accidentally parked in and we ended up finding the back door to the restaurant. One of the servers lets us come through the back and the manager helped lead my partner to the correct valet parking. All the servers were very attentive and knowledgeable about every dish we were served. The food was high quality, especially the sashimi and sushi rolls. I would highly recommend this place if you are downtown.

I'm sad to have to write a not great review as I frequently dine at Uchi and Uchiko and love those restaurants (see past reviews).
We had a 6:30 reservation we made weeks ago. We had to wait outside in the wind and were finally seated at 6:50.
While waiting outside for our table, someone came to take drink orders. We asked questions about what ingredients were but she had no clue and had to go inside to ask. She came back to tell us but it was something weird so we passed on that. We then asked a recommendation and she didn't really have much of an answer for that either. Just kind of awkward.
I ordered their citrus old fashioned and it tasted like it was very watered down. Honestly I should have sent it back, especially when the price tag was $17.
Our server was ok but not the typical Uchi experience I have come to expect in regards to friendliness, willingness to explain menu items or assist with recommendations, or being on top of order taking and caring for our table. We received an incorrect dish and she didn't recall part of the order we'd given her (but eventually found it when she went back through her notepad). Some of the food was bland which was very surprising (crab bao, spicy tuna maki). Nothing we ordered really stood out in a good way. We looked at ordering dessert but nothing looked appealing and our server let us know two of them just aren't great anyway. 😬
Honestly I don't think I'll be back.

The food and drinks themselves were good!
Reservation 8pm Thursday night for 3.
Waited 15-20 min to be seated.
It took 20-45 minutes to receive any dish, a couple dishes went missing, or were dropped off to the wrong table.
It felt like our waitress kept running off as quick as possible, so it was awkward trying to order or ask for anything because she was in such a rush. We also ordered 2 things from someone else and they never entered those items in.
The place was packed full to the brim, so I assumed our waitress was drowning along with the kitchen/sushi bar.
We ended up cancelling a re-order of a missing dish because she warned us it could take 30 minutes to come, and we had already been there for 2 hours. Left at 10:30pm because we spent so much time waiting for each dish. Took 20+ minutes just to pay the bill.
Love Uchi though!!!

My husband and I love Uchi and Uchiko. We’ve been wanting to try Uchiba for awhile and finally did last night. We had reservations at the patio, but it was super windy so they accommodated our request to sit inside by sitting at the sushi bar. DJ was the chef behind the bar who was taking care of us. He was very attentive, responsive, friendly, and not overbearing. He gave us a complimentary eggplant sushi he heard us talking about with another diner and it was SO delicious. We thought that was so nice :) We asked for his recommendations for everything (ordering only off the vegetarian menu) and everything was so delicious. The inari maki was amazing. The age dofu was so different and delicious! The broccoli was scrumptious. Even the portabella dumplings (I don’t usually like portabellas) were heavenly. We are always floored by what they do to vegetables. Somehow our dessert order got mixed up. I think it might have been because two of the desserts had the word “black” in them and it was a loud Saturday night so we might have been misheard. We ordered the black rice ice cream but got the strawberry dessert with black sesame (along with another dessert: chocolate cremeux). When I told the server about the error he was about to go get us the correct one, but we didn’t want to waste food by having three desserts so we told him it really was fine and not to worry about it. We knew the dessert would be good (it was amazing). He didn’t charge us for the dessert that we didn’t order AND brought us a perfectly tiny little portion of the black rice ice cream so we could try it without having a third dessert. I thought that was so sweet!! We got to try the dessert we had ordered, but we actually ended up liking the one they brought us even more! Mistakes happen on busy Saturday nights and they handled it perfectly! We will be back.

Food is phenomenal! Drinks are too
I’ve been a couple of times and the food is so good. This last time I got their version of agedashi tofu… it was literally ONE CUBE OF TOFU!! Tofu is so inexpensive… the sushi is a decent size and portion, but what’s going on with the sides. Shishito peppers, broccolini… tiny tiny portions.
If you come stick to sushi and drinks the rest is unbelievably good but ridiculously small portions for your money.
I would 1,000% recommend if the cost is a casual night out for you. If for many of us you’re coming here to splurge on fine dining for a birthday (like we did yesterday) the service is pretty okay, and the price for your food is going toward the taste not to be full… the taste of one person it’s not shareable here, for anything.
Our reservation was for 7 and we weren’t seated until 7:20 but they have a strict policy to text if you’re going to be late… I wasn’t texted they were running late though so…. Idk! You decide.

The space is gorgeous. Bustling with energy but still cozy. Also not noisy. The mushroom dumplings were out of this world. So much so my friend wrote a poem about them after dinner (albeit with the use of Chat GPT....still, I've never had muse-worthy dumplings). Everything we had was outstanding. Deserts were okay, but not on par w Uchiko. This place is a gem.

Third visit and it keeps getting better every time, which is normal for a new place after opening as they iron out kinks.
Sushi is fresh and flavorful, you’re making a mistake if you don’t try the wagyu, it just melts in your mouth. Incredible.
We enjoy sitting at the sushi chef’s bar area, watching the talented pros working, hearing the chefs engage with customers, it’s fun and the team is knowledgeable and nice. You don’t feel stupid asking questions. This is an exciting addition to the Uchi group and to downtown Austin.

## A Night at Uchiba: A Culinary Tale of Love, Laughter, and Slight Terror
In the heart of the city, under a moonlit sky,
Lies Uchiba, a place where culinary dreams fly.
But beware, dear diner, for within these walls,
A tale of flavor, fright, and fun befalls.
### The Gyutoro's Curse
Once upon a midnight dreary, a dish was served, not light but heavy,
The gyutoro, a rib so merry, cooked for 72 hours, in a plot so very.
Tender and rich, it promised delight,
But alas, overcooked, it gave a slight fright.
"Too long in the oven!" I heard a ghost whisper,
As I chewed on the beef, feeling slightly crisper.
A love affair gone wrong, a culinary misstep,
Yet, its taste in my mouth, I couldn't help but accept.
### The Brussel Sprouts of Sweet Despair
Next came the sprouts, a green so fair,
Dressed in Thai chili sauce, they almost floated in air.
Delicious, no doubt, but oh, the sauce was a snare,
Oversaturated, they screamed, "Beware!"
Like a romance too sweet, where everything's a glare,
These sprouts were drowning, in need of fresh air.
Yet, in this tragic comedy, a lesson was bare,
Even the best can falter, but it's no reason for despair.
### The Salmon Make Roll's Twist of Fate
Then, the salmon make roll, a hero in this plot,
Came in with a twist, in a love knot.
Yummy and fresh, with a pickle so bold,
A surprise in each bite, a story untold.
Like meeting your love in a horror unfold,
Where monsters lurk and tales are cold.
Yet, amidst the darkness, a spark of light,
This roll was a beacon in the night.
### Epilogue: A Night to Remember
So there we were, in Uchiba's embrace,
A night of flavors, a culinary chase.
With dishes so daring, in a love-horror space,
We laughed, we screamed, at a peculiar pace.
For in this restaurant, both love and fear lace,
Creating memories that time won't erase.
So, dear diner, if you dare to embark
On a journey where food ignites a spark,
Where love meets fear in a whimsical ark,
Uchiba awaits, to make its mark.
Just remember, as you dine in the dark,
In every bite, there's a whimsical lark.

Amazing cocktails, service, and ambience. My friend and I went here after getting dinner on a weekday. We actually got a seat in the lounge right away. The cocktails were some of the most creative ones I’ve seen. My friend got the dirty dashi and loved it! I wouldn’t recommend it if you aren’t a fan of miso flavored items. I got the citrus old fashioned, blew my mind on how good it was. The ambience felt perfect, it was a nice combination of intimate and cozy. Additionally, they offered a courtesy amuse bouche!

Mixed feelings about my visit. Overall not up to the same quality and standards as Uchi and Uchiko. We arrived on time for our reservation and needed to wait 30+ minutes past that to finally be seated. Our server was friendly and prompt, but food took a very long time to come out. Some items arriving well over an hour after ordering. The food was good though, but I’m not sure it’s worth waiting so long for.

Seated 45 minutes after original reservation which was frustrating for the group. Food was average and lack luster. Waiter was very nice and friendly but service was terrible. Only reason we tolerated this whole ordeal was that staff were friendly. Almost half our meal was forgotten despite placing an entire full order at the beginning of service. Had to keep reminding the staff and asking the whereabouts of dishes. Strange. Even the bill came out without actually receiving dishes and even dessert! Beautiful looking restaurant but didn't have the feeling of UCHI which is the ultimate experience. That service and execution at UCHI was what we hoped for at UCHIBA. It felt like a sad hotel lobby sushi restaurant and such a shame since UCHI is always a 10/10. Every single time. What happened to this place? Also, the black rice ice cream dessert was a disaster who approved pouring half a glass of oil on it? Sure it has chili oil crunch, but it was just a bowl of oil. No one ate it. Strange. Would rather spend this sort of money at UCHI. Also, drinks and items kept getting taken away while they were being eaten and consumed just made no sense. UCHI management needs to get involved and iron this place out it's not a good look considering the well oiled machine that is UCHI and UCHIKO. Will stick to those places.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Uchiba. Atmosphere, food, and friendly staff top marks. I took away one star because in my experience sitting at a sushi bar, the sushi chefs at the sushi bar prioritize those sitting at the sushi bar. From my perspective, the Uchiba sushi chefs at the sushi bar were making sushi for everyone in the restaurant so if we ordered something, we just had to get on line. So it took way more time to get our food than I would have expected. And I guarantee you we would have ordered twice as much food had the food come out quicker. If we return I’d probably skip sitting at the sushi bar.

I'm going to start by saying we are HUGE lovers and fans of Uchi and Uchiko - we frequent both and love the food, drinks, and service/hospitality at those locations.
However, Uchiba fell short. We arrived at 620pm for our 630pm reservation and we did not end up getting seated until 715pm. FOURTY FIVE minute wait from reservation time, and even longer from arrival time- which is funny because they inundate you with texts and emails about being on time for your reservation and that they won't hold your reservation for 15 minutes, meanwhile in reality we could have arrived very late and been fine lol.
Front of house staff did not come up to us even one single time to apologize or give us updates- even when we were the only ones anywhere near the host stand. WE had to check in with THEM 3 times, including 35 minutes after our reservation time to let them know how we would have to leave by a certain time- which I did not imagine would even need to come up given the planned time of our reservation with plenty of time to get to our next plans!
They did not offer apologies, drinks, $ off check, free dishes - anything at all.
Very disappointing compared to what we're used to from the rest of Uchi hospitality group's typical service.
Food was good! But not any better than Uchi and Uchiko. Drinks were good, but pricey. Due to the service and then just barely stacking up to their sister restaurants - I would recommend Uchi or Uchiko over Uchiba every time.
And to end on a positive note- sitting at the sushi bar was fab!! We love our sushi chef- she made great recommendations and it was fun to check in with her while you was cooking throughout our meal.

Another Uchi slapper. We came here for my birthday and had a really great experience. Beautiful lighting and aesthetic inside.
The drinks were well made and drank smooth. I really enjoyed my old fashioned and my wife got this beautiful origami crane on her cocktail.
The food speaks for itself, it was elegantly plated, high quality and delicious.

I love these restaurants and frequently celebrate birthdays or anniversaries at Uchi or Uchiko, but sadly, this experience felt underwhelming.
Mainly due to the service, there was no mention as to the event we were celebrating which at other locations has always been addressed very mindfully. We sat at the sushi bar, and when ordering with the chef, he questioned nearly everything we asked for, which implied lack of knowledge of the menu.
The waiter (who served drinks and dessert and only) seemed to be rushing us out near the end.
Sadly, not sure I’m excited to rush back. The food was ok, service was a disappointment and when you think of the cost for the sum of the experience, I left feeling a little bummed out.

Made a reservation for a birthday dinner, and had a horrible experience. The service was mediocre at best, our server talked to us at most 3 times and practically sassed us for our “small order.” The only reservations that were available were for the patio and I could’ve lived with this but they didn’t have any of the heaters working. We were left with no heater in low 40° weather, while a larger party had several heaters and when we asked if the ones nearby could be turned on, we were told they were out of propane and couldn’t help us. Finally to make our dinner an even worse experience the hot food was subpar at best. Ordered the short rib hot special and was not informed of the way it was served and we were utterly disappointed in the quality of the hot food. However, the sushi was great and made the experience more bearable.

Love love love the Uchi chain! So excited this opened up near my apartment, charming service with amazing drinks and food. Definitely check this out if you’re into specialty cocktails

Went for the monthly guest chef, Uncommon Ramen, which was no doubt delicious. Also had the special Nashville chicken, a steak tar tar roll bite and wine pairing, a tuna maki roll, a couple cocktails, a beer, dessert. Shared everything with a friend. Ended up costing 170+tip. Not cheap, but a wonderful experience. Was there nearly 2 hours, but didn't notice till we were leaving.
Service, we had a trainee that was amazing, could not even tell. Everything was delicious, especially the ramen.
That said, loss of a 2 stars because something in the meal cause me to get sick, and I rarely get sick 🤢 though fortunately did not last too long. I could tell you more...
