O-Ku’s menu provides a fresh and innovative take on traditional Japanese sushi and cuisine. Located in the Germantown neighborhood of Nashville, the restaurant offers rare and unique dining options with traditional sashimi and specialty rolls, highlighting seafood from the finest fish markets in Tokyo and Hawaii alongside local and seasonal ingredients. Reminiscent of traditional Japanese culture, O-Ku’s menu is comprised of signature starters, contemporary Japanese entrees and seasonal traditional sushi that reflect the uniquely designed space.
We ordered takeout from this restaurant, but after trying the food, I would definitely recommend dining in for the full experience. The restaurant is in a great location, and the atmosphere when you walk in is warm and inviting, making it feel like a spot where you’d want to sit down and enjoy a meal.
The sushi was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. We also tried the fried cauliflower, which had an interesting and unique flavor. While it wasn’t my personal favorite, it was still enjoyable. My husband, on the other hand, loved the steak. It was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor.
Overall, it was a great meal, and I’m looking forward to trying more of their menu. I’d give it a solid 4 stars for the delicious food and the pleasant atmosphere.

Just overall a great experience! I am not one to leave reviews but I was just so pleasantly surprised.
Me and my boyfriend went to celebrate our anniversary, there were rose petals on the table, glass of champagne for the toast and ended up having dessert on their behalf! Also little details as the menu and the little cake topper 👏🏼 All of this was more than i expected, I’m so grateful! Also the food and was amazing and from the drinks Ryu water was delicious and great to share!
A memorable dinner for sure!

This last Sunday December 1st was our first visit, I'm not much of a sushi guy but my son wanted to go here for his 21st birthday. It was fantastic, from the food, to the environment and our server Michael was kind, attentive and did everything to make my son feel special for his 21st. They printed a custom menu that said " Happy 21st Birthday" across the top. Was unexpected! They gave him a flight of cocktails to try and gave dessert for the whole table as part of his Omakase, including an eclair that he absolutely loved. My son wanted the Omakase with the sake pairing, The experience was special and memorable which is all I wanted for him. Thank you for a wonderful time!

We loveddd the Tennessee Two Step roll and the black magic. Delicious cocktails and some of the freshest fish I’ve ever had. Don’t miss the mochi either 🤤

We were pretty excited about trying O-ku but unfortunately our experience left us a bit disappointed.
The bottom line:
you kind find better quality sushi and better service at a better price elsewhere.
The details:
We arrived and were put on a 30 min waiting list for a bar seat. 45 minutes later I went in to check and found 5 bar seats open (and many tables inside and outside) and was told they were ‘just’ getting our spots ready. The receptionist wasn’t very warm or attentive but the bartender who served us was nice and knowledgeable on the menu.
We ordered black magic, shogun, eel of fortune, seaweed salad, and a couple pieces of nigiri and sashimi. Overall the black magic was good and different but not really worth the price. The seaweed salad was good but just like what you would get elsewhere for a little cheaper. The shogun was pretty good and I would order it again but the eel of fortune was a bit misleading and didn’t taste as much as eel the other fish in the roll. The nigiri was the most over priced at $9+ a piece (when most places would offer 2 pieces per order) and I even opted for some of the pricier nigiri like the blue fin and fatty tuna. Overall I was disappointed in the quality of these and would not order again. It was dry and lacking in flavor which is not typical for these fatty fish nigiri.
Overall my wife and I agreed we would not come back. The food wasn’t horrible but we can get better sushi elsewhere and for a better price for better quality.

We loved our experience here. While sitting at the bar, Elena was the most attentive bartender we’ve ever had. She went above and beyond to create a drink for me that wasn’t listed on their menu. She also made great food recommendations based on my gluten allergy. The Shogun signature roll was our favorite along with the sugar and spice cocktail and the brûlée dessert. So happy to have this place right around the corner ♡︎

My husband and I came here for the first time on Friday to celebrate his 32nd birthday!! It was the perfect spot to celebrate!! Not only was it perfect date night vibes but the food and drinks were incredible and service was top notch.
This is the first restaurant that has ever reached out proactively about the “birthday celebration” option I had selected when I made the Open Table reservation. The general manager reached out to me to learn more about my husband’s favorite drinks, foods, hobbies etc! We showed up to personalized menus celebrating him and a complementary Japanese whiskey old fashioned for my bourbon-loving husband! Not only that but they also threw up in a complimentary dessert!! We were so touched and impressed! They truly went above and beyond!
Lastly, our waitress Keyauna MADE this experience! We can’t wait to go back and see her specifically! When we told her we were sushi-newbies and might need some help navigating the menu, she lit up- taking the time to walk us through what the different items on the menu were and pointing out all of her favorites. She did not steer us wrong- everything she recommended was incredible! She was so knowledgeable and passionate and took great care of us!
This is now one of our new favorite spots in Nashville. Thank you Keyauna and O-Ku for a special night!!

Very nice restaurants. The food was decent ,but it's really overpriced. When I got home I realized that they overcharged us for extra drinks that we did not take. My son ordered some real wasabi and they charged us $10 for it without letting us know whether it was an extra charge for it. Not sure we will be back

Took a girls trip to Nashville and we're looking to get off broadway. So glad we checked out this place!
Service was top-notch! Rolls are a little on the smaller side compared to what we're used to back home. So just a fair warning if you're looking to determine how much you should order

The food was fantastic, the service was professional. The management was a cut above the rest. For anyone who likes rolls the Playboy and the Titan Up were outstanding. The Sticky ribs were great. We had a small issue with the kitchen and the management handled it with confidence and caring for the customer. Elena Grayson and her team came to our table to explain and asked over and over how to make it correct. We were very satisfied in the end. Can't wait to go back for dinner there again.

I've been here a few times, and it's been great every time. We went here for my birthday a few months ago, and they really tried to make it special with a personalized menu and bookmark (since I like to read). The food and sake is always excellent. It's a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it.

My wife and I have dined at O-Ku multiple times. This last time, we brought some of our family to celebrate their anniversary. Unfortunately, after the most recent visit, I would not recommend O-Ku to anyone as I believe you can get better food and much, much better service elsewhere for your money. Hopefully this was a one-off and we happened to catch O-Ku on a bad night… but it is more likely that the standard had slipped from the restaurant that we have frequented for multiple years.
My wife ordered a second cocktail when we received our first rounds of appetizers, and did not receive it until we received the bill. I did not even bother to order a second myself when it was clear they had no desire to attend to our table.
Overall a very disappointing night. But thankfully, Nashville offers many fantastic alternatives that will provide a great vibe with better food and much better service.

Had a fantastic dining experience! The food was incredible, and the ambiance had a great vibe that made the evening even better. The cocktails were well-crafted, and I really appreciated the bartender remaking one to suit my preferences perfectly. We ordered the short rib, lobster spaghetti, wagyu sando, hamachi kama, yellowtail, and two different rolls—all of it was excellent. Overall, it was a great experience with outstanding food. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it!

My favorite restaurant in Nashville!! The food and ambiance is always incredible but the true gem of O-Ku is Laurana. We recently dined in for our anniversary and Laurana provided exceptional service. She also knew the menu like she wrote it herself and her recommendations were spot on. Highly recommend ordering the Usuzukuri and the Tennessee Two Step!

I got the hamachi collar, and I’m kind of confused why you would leave the skin on the collar if you don’t bother to grill it. It was just chewy, tasteless, and a little scaly. I left it on the plate because it felt like it shouldn’t be there in the first place. This restaurant seemed too upscale to make this kind of mistake. Otherwise, the food seemed good.

Nigiri is tasty but too expensive even for high end places. 1 piece of otoro is like $21. Wagyu nigiri was not from a great part of the cow- it was not tender. The regular makimono rolls were honestly very low quality. We got the shrimp tempura and the shrimp had been sitting since the start of dinner service. Kung pao cauliflower and the sticky ribs were both hits. My main issue with o-ku was the value of the menu. You can find the same or better quality fish for way less at many other restaurants here in Nashville. Also it seems like they significantly increased their price of the Omakase to $140 per person.

Nice place. Don’t even try without a reservation. Food and Sushi was good, Quantity could be better. Pricey for the location and ambiance. Choice of decent single malts or champagne for the ladies is absent at the bar. Servers are well trained and mannered. Not making any judgments, but the neighborhood around after dark did not seem healthy to me as a tourist. Head home in your vehicle or Uber after the meal...

We went to O-Ku over the weekend during our staycation for our anniversary weekend after a friend recommended this restaurant. We unfortunately regret going here during our special weekend. The food was good. However, the service was very lacking. Most of our meal was spent waiting for our orders. Every time we ordered an item, our server would come to tell us it was “taking longer than expected.” For example, my husband ordered a cocktail before our meal was brought out, and unfortunately had time to eat his entire meal without receiving his drink. I understand a restaurant is busy, but spending $250 on a meal should not mean getting such a lack of service. As a local, I wish I could say I recommend this restaurant, however I can not, especially for special occasions like we were celebrating.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. It was the best sushi I’ve had since I’ve been here in Nashville. We had the lobster spaghetti, short rib, the playboy roll (so good) poke tacos. Such an amazing meal. Our servers name was Justice and he was incredible, so friendly and when we asked for a photo in our booth he went and grabbed a Polaroid camera for us! I requested a desert with a candle for her birthday which was delicious Mochi with a candle in the center :) this places vibe was amazing and I can’t reccommend it enough.

Like this spot and atmosphere, but this is one of the many restaurants around Nashville that has gotten so ridiculous on several of their drink prices and also a few menu items for what you’re getting. $26 (with tip) for an old fashioned. And also another spot where you have to pay to park, which has unfortunately become the regular around Nashville

Do not go here if you're by yourself. They told me a 30 minute wait. 30 minutes later I check to see where I was on the list. I hadn't moved up the list at all, despite multiple other parties being sat. Hostess told me there was nothing she could do. I wish she had just told me the truth and not wasted my time. This is the second time we’ve been to O-Ku. The first time we went was a few years ago and it was a 5 star experience. My husband and I were so excited to come back! When we arrived, the restaurant was practically empty and we were sat at arguably the worst table location in the restaurant. We didn’t say anything and just accept it. As the restaurant became busier, they tried to seat the table next to us twice & the customers asked to move to a better table. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the Shogun cocktail, which was excellent! We ordered the poke tuna tacos for an appetizer. After about 10-15 minutes, we ordered sushi for our dinner. Our dinner came out before our appetizer. This absolutely never happens in fine dining establishments. This is something I would expect at a Chili’s. I let the person know that brought out our entree that we ordered an appetizer. There was no apology & any other restaurant would have taken the appetizer off our bill. When we did receive the tacos, you receive 3 small tacos for $24. I enjoyed the texture and crunch of the shell, but the flavor was very underwhelming. It just tasted like raw fish in a taco shell. My husband and I ordered 3 signature sushi rolls. Two of them were fantastic, the one in the middle (see picture) was not very good. Overall, we enjoyed the sushi. Lastly, our waitress asked us if we would like another drink & I asked if they had coffee and cream (I didn’t have a menu in front of me). She said yes & brought out a French press and a mug. She forgot the creamer, which was no big deal. A poured my coffee and put creamer in and realized that I also didn’t have a spoon or any utensil that I could use to stir the creamer in. It took about 10 minutes to get our waitress’ attention to get a spoon. By the time I got a spoon, the coffee was lukewarm. She then brought out the dessert menu, where I saw that the coffee was $10 (for 2)! I really wish she would have informed me when I asked if they had coffee. I did not want 2 cups of coffee, and my husband didn’t want coffee. So I wasted a cup of coffee and spent $10 on one cup of coffee for me (which was lukewarm by the time I could drink it). Had I known, I would absolutely not have ordered coffee at all. Our bill was $130 and our experience was less than average. I am so disappointed because the first time we came here, we had such a wonderful experience. The service and overall quality of the food has gone downhill. I’m not sure if we’ll ever drive 45 minutes to visit O-Ku again.

Well, having lived in Japan for over ten years, we have become, somewhat, Japanese food snobs.
O-ku, quality did not match the price point. Tebasaki pretty good. For folks who are not familiar with Japanese food, maybe ok. There are better Japanese restaurants in Nashville. (As far as food goes) The restaurant was nice, but the music was too loud to have a conversation. Everyone was yelling at one another.

I get it. It's Nashville, and finding delicious sushi that doesn't involve cream cheese is hard to do. If you come across such a gem you are going to pay for it. It's simple economics. The wife and I have lived in NYC and LA so we have been spoiled, and we have been craving quality sushi. We splurged and definitely tasted all that O-ku had to offer, but we felt underwhelmed with our choices.
Our favorite dishes were the sushi tacos and the cauliflower, which honestly if I am going to fine sushi restaurant the tacos and a vegetable should not be the best thing on the menu.
We also had the USUZUKURI and the TUNA TATAKI which were nothing special, as well as the PLAYBOY which was Crab, wagyu beef, herb aioli, avocado, chive, goat cheese mousse, truffle soy glaze. It was too much flare and sauce which masked what should have been the star of show which was of course the beef.
All in all we had a nice time but for the price and the sushi I would not go back.

O-ku was an amazing meal! We were lucky enough to have Nick as our server, and he was the best. We did the tasting menu with the sake pairing, and he took us through all of the notes of the courses with stunning professionalism and excellent humour. Menu highlights were the kung pao cauliflower, a nigiri Maguro bite with a pepper paste, the Waygu beef nigiri, and the house-made matcha crème brûlée. The pace of the evening was perfect, with time between courses to savour and discuss. Can’t recommend highly enough!! 10/10

Loved the ambiance and decor of the restaurant and the staff were friendly. Wings were amazing, best part of the meal. Also enjoyed the chicken donburi. We did not like the tuna crudo at all, which was disappointing since it was a $30 app that went to waste. Desserts were fine but tasted like something you’d buy at the grocery store, not necessarily high quality restaurant desserts. Also had the miso soup, edamame, ribs, and a few drinks which were all decent enough. Overall a fine meal, but nothing special.

The host was very cold to us and sat us at one of the high top tables when the whole restaurant was practically empty. I asked politely if we could move to a low table because I had hip surgery last month and am not able to sit in that kind of chair for very long. Host was rude and made me feel unwelcome with my request. Food was fine, a little overpriced for sushi that doesn’t make you go “wow that’s good”. Service took forever and our server was missing for ~20 mins and came back saying “sorry my manager was talking to me”. A different server finally took our order in the meantime after we were looking around making eye contact with several employees for over ten minutes.

Most recently our server Greg was great and super helpful informing us of an item we've never had that my husband will continue ordering in the future. Another guest with us also had questions about a potential custom drink and the bartender actually came to the table and took the time to listen to what the guest was hoping to receive and made her a delicious drink! We did not get the bartenders name but they had a buzzcut (or a very short hair cut) and were super nice!

This place is top notch! It has all of the things, great and small! Our seaweed salads served on a chilled plates, a server that has personality, but not over the top. A server that is attentive, but not overly attentive or being bombarded by multiple staff (ex.asking me if I want another drink as you refill my water, right after my server already checked in - happened at another place and our conversation kept getting interrupted). But at O-ku, the staff were working as a well oiled machine, waters consistently filled, checking on us after our first couple bites of each course but then giving us space and time to enjoy it, also allowing us to relax at the end while we finished our drinks and not rushing us out the door. Had the food been just ok, I would still give 5 stars just because of our overall experience, but even that part was as equally amazing. My favorite dining experience in Germantown so far!

Best Sushi I've ever had! I went with 9 other women last weekend and this place was so special. It has a great atmosphere, amazing staff, and spectacular food! They even made it extra special for my sister's birthday by printing a birthday message on the menu and giving her a special gift. Amazing customer service from everyone there! Thank you for such an awesome time!

The food was amazing! They were able to make most things gluten free including the tempura shrimp. The Hamachi was melt in your mouth delicious. The only complaint I have if there is one to be had, was the noise level. It was so loud you could hardly talk to the person at your own table.

The ambience is nice and I love that you are able to see the kitchen. Unfortunately the food was meh, especially for the price tag. The bok choy barely had any taste and the miso soup was average at best. The sushi rolls were good but unfortunately we got food poisoning, we know for a fact that it is the sushi here because we ate nothing else (other than tea and a bagel) that could have caused it that day. The service was great.

Food was just ok, certainly nothing special, so therefore overpriced. Beware of their parking lot, which is $22 for a little over an hour with no validation and no signs to warn you of that.

Highly over priced. Small portions. Belongs in Los Angeles, not Nashville.

My wife and I tried this spot for Valentine’s Day! We loved every sushi roll we had and would definitely recommend the poke tacos! I believe our favorite roll was called the Playboy but Nashvegas was great as well. Our server was excellent too, we will definitely be back.

Wow where to start, this place is over all amazing! Everything we got to eat was absolutely fantastic, this was the best sushi we have had in Tennessee hands down. Greg, our server, was so friendly, helped us feel comfortable, gave great recommendations for food, was on top of food drinks and service before needed which helped the night flow smoothly. All the staff was friendly even those not serving us still took time to greet us and help as needed. The atmosphere was perfect, great lighting great noise level plus the place was beautifully decorated. This is definitely our favorite date spot for now on, I can’t wait to come back :)

Sat at the bar and was waited on by Ben and another bartender whose name I did not catch. But they were both wonderful, and despite being very busy, were attentive and very quick with orders and service. Low reviews definitely do not take into account how popular this place is. Food was fantastic, and they both were helpful with recommendations for drinks. Places like this are usually too high scale for me but this was my second time here, and both times it was wonderful. Absolutely worth a visit.

Undoubtedly, O-Ku is the best high-end sushi restaurant in all of Nashville. We came as a party of 8 to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and made a reservation about ten days in advance. O-Ku printed special menus just for our party, which was a nice touch. They also let my girlfriend pick a dessert as a birthday gift. She chose the carrot cake and loved it. Our waiter was incredible and gave great recommendations. The food was unbelievable! What we all enjoyed the most were the Poke Tuna Tacos, Hamachi Carpaccio, Tennessee Two Step roll, Playboy roll, Salmon O-Ku Nigiri, and the Hotate O-Ku Nigiri. The absolute best bites of the night were the Salmon O-Ku nigiri and the Poke Tuna Tacos. You have to come here! Make your reservation now!

Some of the best sushi in Nashville. A must try if you’re looking for a great dining experience.

Ordered some miso soup, edamame, and the Nashvegas role. This was not a cheap dinner! Let me tell you, it all good up until the roll. After eating the role, I immediately felt sick, nauseated, and got a headache. 2 minutes later I threw up all the food I had just eaten. Luckily after throwing up the food, I felt instantly better. I don’t know what was in that role, but eat with caution.

I was nervous about going here because it’s not a cheap place to eat. I brought a friend from out of the country with us and we had an amazing night. The food was unbelievable, great drink selection, amazing staff and amazing attention to detail all around. If I were to pick anything to improve, my only complaint would be the chairs were a bit uncomfortable for the 3 hour omakase experience. I will be back to celebrate future occasions.

Took SO long for food and drinks. Hours! Three hours in fact for a simple sushi dinner. To add insult to injury the waitress was aloof and not at all concerned. It was expensive and not at all worth it. Fly to the coast it would be faster.

A place for the 'in' crowd mixed with the crowd that wants real and good food. Even if pricey and on the finer side, the service and flavor you get are fantastic. Beautifully designed with fantastic, knowledgeable wait staff. Found the appetizers to be fantastics (you won't test better rock shrimp or better cauliflower) and were still amazed by the sushi and found the wagyu beef to be fantastic (no more than 3 seconds on each side, trust me!!). If you're into sake, try the Two Cranes sake. Molten chocolate cake was fantastic and we had a dessert special which was great too. Highly recommended.

The nicest staff ever!! Me and my husband stopped by Nashville for the evening and we’ve been wanting to try out this sushi place forever! We came in 10 minutes before closing due to traffic, and they gladly took our order and were so kind about having us last minute. Recommending to all my friends!!

My girlfriends and I came from out of town to O-Ku over the weekend to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant really made us feel special celebrating our occasion. The atmosphere is upscale but cozy. I wish we remembered our server's name because she really made our experience all the better! The sushi was impressive (loved the PlayBoy and Predator). I think it raised all of our expectations of sushi. Thanks again for spectacular service and the amazing meal.

Found our new favorite sushi spot in all of Nashville. This was truly the best mixture of great food, great service and great vibe. I haven’t had such attentive service anywhere in Nashville in quite some time. Our server came over JUST enough to make sure we were never without but not overbearing. Very romantic for a date night or just a casual girls night. Extremely fresh sushi and rolls that had such unique flavor. I took my husband for his birthday our waitress brought out dessert & a candle at the end. Must try the rock shrimp! Will be returning ASAP!!

Incredible sushi and experience. Drinks were fabulous as well. We believe they're a little overpriced for the small-sized rolls. During peak hours, your dish may be backed up amongst other orders so try to order all at once or else you'll be waiting an hour until you get your next dish. Overall, it was great and we'll be back!

I love O-Ku, but went there for my birthday this year and was so disappointed. We did the chef's tasting, and it was so uninspired, boring, and repeated that it was almost funny. Every course was the same fish with the same three sauces just presented differently each time. The waiter also thought I was joking about my birthday and all the other birthday people in the restaurant got a little dessert and candle, but our waiter never said anything. For paying over $500 for a dinner, I am definitely disappointed, and would not recommend the chef's tasting.

Wow. Wow is all I can say. The food is fantastic, but the service is even better. We were absolutely blown away by the tremendous hospitality of Zach (Zack?) and the staff. We were celebrating our wedding weekend and they made it so so memorable. We are so impressed and will definitely be back. Thank you so much!!

Unique sushi rolls, delicious craft cocktails in a lively atmosphere. My first (& definitely not last) time at O-ku was incredible. Our server, Shaylise, truly went above & beyond to make it one of the best dining experience we have ever had. It was my birthday, so Shaylise hooked us! She brought me my favorite appetizer on the house, set up a round of my favorite shots as a surprise celebration & had the bartender make my favorite off the menu cocktail. She truly made the night! Absolutely request Shaylise as your server if you can!

My wife and I went to here for the last night of our wedding weekend. The staff were incredible. They were able to schedule a reservation for our party on Saturday night with short notice. They provided top tier service and made us feel very special and cared for the day after our wedding. In all of my years of dining out, my wife and I have never received such incredible service. To top it all off, the food was delicious and had many options for everyone to enjoy for appetizers, sushi and dinner. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone that is looking for delicious food and to have an amazing, top tier dining experience. I wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Nashville. We would specifically like to thank Zach B. as he was instrumental in making our dining experiences over the weekend unique and unforgettable. Thank you to both Oak Steakhouse and O-Ku for helping make our wedding weekend one that we will never forget.

I’m here atleast twice a month since April, so I figured I’d finally write a review!! I love love love oku!! They have the best sushi I’ve ever had and the appetizers are OMG! I usually get the playboy roll with rock shrimp and the cauliflower, but I’ve tried so many other things on the menu. I also love their mocktails 😋 Lastly, I love how knowledgeable the servers are of the menu!

Incredible food with a stunning presentation! If you enjoy sushi and other items, this is a must. Whether you have a group or a date night, the atmosphere is perfect. We were greeted promptly and sat immediately, our server Greg was phenomenal and made sure he asked about allergies and diligently checked everything I ordered to make sure it wouldn’t make me sick. The food was exceptional - especially the ribs, waygu and salmon, which were all tender and delicious. You must go here.

Food was great but service was wildly slow. They continually served us drinks but didn’t provide food until after the 3 tables next to us were fed and gone. It left us too boozed up and hungry to enjoy the food or atmosphere. One entree was comped however, it left a very bad taste in our mouths for the restaurant.

My wife and I have been to Oku twice. First time was driving back home from Florida and coming up through Nashville late on a Sunday night we sat at the bar and had an amazing time. So amazing that we went back for our anniversary and did the omakase and sake pairing.
What a disappointment. The nigiri served were the same ones on the menu, which are fantastic but we could have ordered them off the menu and paid less. The pork katsu seemed as if it was cooked from frozen - the center was pink and moist but surrounded by a thick ring of dry, overdone pork.
Absolutely recommend Oku, but under no circumstances should you order the omakase.

Pricey. Extremely slow service. Typical American-style Japanese and Korean menu. Shogun roll was good but a little too spicy. Noisy, music is loud and not great. No free parking. Private lot costs $15 for up to 2 hours, $25 for more.

My wife and I travelled in from Louisville to celebrate our anniversary. From the second we walked in the service and ambiance was incredible. The hostess was so kind and our server Jana was not only knowledgeable but so very wonderful. The food was killer. Those candied ribs and that playboy roll were some of the best things I’ve had in a while. Topped off with great cocktails and a delicious lava cake this was a 12/10 experience. Will be back!

From my first visit to my 3rd time at O-Ku and honestly for Nashville there aren’t enough good words or space to truly discuss this place. Its amazing every time. The ladies are excellent at helping you pick out something to eat and hilarious also. The portions are great and the quality and taste of the food is even better!!! Love the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant it’s never too noisy!

I’m only giving 5 stars because the food was so outstanding, however it wasn’t the best dining experience. We sat at the sushi bar and a female chef working behind the sushi bar was yelling obnoxiously and swearing throughout our meal. Also our server forgot to bring out our Miso Soup and it showed up last at the end of our meal which really didn’t appreciate.

We had a fantastic time celebrating a portion of our honeymoon here!
We started off with the rock shrimp which was incredible!
We both got miso soup which we would highly recommend!
I ordered the Predator role and it was both our favorite rolls!
I would highly recommend celebrating here and coming for any date night!

The service was above and beyond. They were incredibly accommodating of a dietary restrictions and went out of their way to make sure we were aware of the ingredients in what we ordered. Food taste and quality was *chefs kiss* absolutely delicious. Don’t pass on this hidden gem.

When we made our reservation, we specified my boyfriend was allergic to shellfish. When we came in to eat we ordered the tasting menu, but asked first if they could accommodate his shellfish allergy on that. We were told they could just replace anything that was considered shellfish with something of equal value, which was great! Each dish was delicious and well put together. They accidentally brought shellfish out and we asked to swap it for a shellfish alternative. The manager was incredibly kind and handled the situation well. Our major qualm, however, was the slow service. Our server would only come by the table if it was to bring our next course. Otherwise, he was scarce. This wouldn't be an issue if the dishes didn't take so long to come out. We were waiting for 15-20 minutes between each course of small plates. Our drinks we ordered from the bar were incredibly slow to come to the table as well. I understand restaurants can become bogged down during the busiest hours, and I'm usually very tolerant of things like that. It just seemed odd that service was so consistently slow that night, even at the later half of 9pm.
We will be back another night to give it a second chance, and we'll pick a day that's hopefully less busy.

We went to O-ku on a whim. No reservations or anything on a Friday night. We were able to get seats at the bar right away.
Food:
Rock shrimp - huge pieces of shrimp! Sauce was creamy and spicy. Each piece was perfectly crispy and hot!
Sushi rolls:
Tennessee two step and Shogun - 2.solid rolls to get. Shogun is a good pick if you like spicy. Tennessee two step ... you can never go wrong with a roll that has shrimp tempura in it!
Hot dish:
Tokyo chicken donburi- Rice dish that had chicken and bok choy. Chicken was cooked really well and the sauce mix with the rice was out of this world. I ate every last piece of rice in that bowl...
Drinks: ordered a Spirited Away and Shogun
Both refreshing and light!

Such a beautiful restaurant and our server was so knowledgeable about the entire menu! Cocktails were delicious, can't skip on the rock shrimp or the Tennessee Two Step roll. Could've gone without the chicken skewer, very small and not a ton of flavor. Will definitely come back for another roll!

OUTstanding food! You should go here.
If you love sushi then the o-toro nigiri will blow your mind. Beyond the nigiri/sashimi, the Robata-Yaki (ALL of them!), and the rolls (Green goddess & Shogun) were the highlight!
Great staff, elegant atmosphere, clean and comfortable spaces, dimmer lighting.
The only "complaint" is the expensive parking, which O-ku doesn't even control (to my knowledge). Again, you should go here!

Can’t say enough good things about OKu. Entire staff are just amazing. Friendly, kind, always helpful. You won’t find fresher, better sushi anywhere in Nash. We requested a table we prefer to sit at and it was unavailable due to a large group, and they brought us complimentary salmon sashimi. No other place I’ve been to would even give you the time of day if you asked for a table you liked, let alone give you an amazing dish for free if they couldn’t secure it for you. Been many times, and will take everyone here when they visit.
PS - get the Onna Old Fashioned 🥃
