1st off this hotel had the best breakfast that I've ever eaten at a hotel. Real eggs, bacon, sausage, omlets, french toast sticks, fruit, oatmeal, and much much more all free. The room was beautiful. I don't like that I had to pay an additional $50 to park there. It's in walking distance to so many different places downtown Nashville. I highly recommend. 10/10.

Can’t speak about atmosphere order take away possible my mistake the food is good and pretty presentation however the price is costly for what you get. Poke bowl pretty presentation the seaweed had a slight fishy odor. When I rated my order stated food was good but pricy they had a rude comment so I’ve decided to post my experience and not allow them to WOW me anymore

Our experience at Sunda Nashville was absolutely outstanding! From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. The entire staff went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our evening was perfect. My family thoroughly enjoyed their dinner, and the atmosphere, service, and incredible cuisine made it a truly memorable night.

A special thank you to Billy Deck and his entire Sunda Nashville team for their exceptional hospitality and attention to detail. Their dedication to creating an unforgettable dining experience did not go unnoticed.

We can't wait to return and highly recommend Sunda Nashville to anyone looking for an extraordinary culinary experience!

This place has risen to one of my top favorites. Everything was just excellent. Our server was super friendly. We had a group of 5 and bought a number of dishes to share. Everything was just delicious. Almost surprisingly so. The crispy rice wagyu was very unique. I could see myself eating just that and being just as satisfied. We gobbled up the lumpia before I had a chance to take a picture. We had a vegetarian with us and they made the crispy brussel sprouts vegan, which was great. I don't know how the normal one tastes, but what we had was super good. The sauce they gave us for it made the dish come together in an incredible way. I am usually good about taking pictures, but missed pictures of the red dragon roll and the tail of two tuna roll. Both were of course delicious. They had some very tasty vegetarian options as well. For desert, we got mochi ice cream and the ridiculous. And the ridiculous loved up to it's name. The ice cream was topped with almost like a carrot cake and caramel glaze. It is one of the best and most unique deserts I have ever tried.

You know it's good when even before you are done you are planning when next you will visit and you you want to share this experience with. With 5 people, all the food, multiple rounds of drinks and full bellies, we came in just over $550. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a true Asian fusion restaurant that does each type of continental dish VERY well.

Overall, I was unimpressed. The cauliflower appetizer was the best dish. The rest were disappointing. The scenery was nice, but we were seated next to the wait staff's island, and it felt hectic during the entire meal. The Albarino wine was delicious.

Had a delicious meal here tonight. Each dish had amazing flavor and some very creative blending of ingredients. The steamed chicken and pork belly buns were a favorite as well as the wagyu crispy rice and the oxtail dumplings. I would 100% recommend.

My only note for the restaurant would be to install some sort of pin spot lighting at each table. It was very dark and so hard to see the beauty of the plating with such a drab lighting.

Either way the flavors were wonderful!

Pictured: unagi foie, oxtail pot stickers, steamed buns, crispy rice & lemongrass beef lollipops.

I made a reservation for 8pm. We showed up at 7:50, and they said they couldn't accommodate us and we had to wait until the previous table got up and left. What's the point of making a reservation... we are being seated after waiting for 20 min. Keep in mind they charge you $10 per person if you cancel the reservation within 24hrs.

Everything was great until we got the bill. $270 plus a 20% tip I added for a total of $324. But it was not even the bill for the items we purchased. It was the fact that I was charged $25 for a cake cutting fee (a fluff fee) because it was one of our guests' birthday and they had brought a cake with them. If the waiter had told us that there would be a charge for this we would have not have had the cake in the restaurant because we were all full anyway. I truly think this was a 'dick' move. That is the reason for the 1 Star overall.

Had the best dinner at Sunda last night! Start to finish everything was amazing. I highly recommend starting with the street corn, spicy edamame. The panda roll is my personal favorite. We finished with the chocolate lava cake which was divine. There are plenty of Asian fusion restaurants in Nashville, but Sunda is the one!

Sunda in the Gulch offers a chic, modern Asian dining experience with stunning decor inspired by Thailand, Japan, and China. The service was warm, but the standout is the food. The Korean Fried Chicken Bao was soft and flavorful, with perfectly fried chicken and a touch of heat from gochujang. The Island Maki sushi, with tuna, salmon, mango, and ponzu, was refreshing and delicious, while the Panda roll with shrimp tempura was also a hit. Portions are generous and great for sharing. Overall, Sunda is a must-visit for both its food and ambiance!

I had good sushi from there before, however I wouldn't order anything out of the kitchen.

Ordered Hainanese salmon and crispy pata yesterday. Was curious to see what a take on Hainanese salmon would be like (from famous Hainanese chicken). There wasn't anything Hainanese about it, and it was too salty. But nothing compared to the crispy pata, which was so salty that it was inedible.

They probably have a Master Sushi Chef. Other than that, it's another moneygrab operation that misappropriates other cuisines and tricks locals into thinking they're eating something nice.

The food was okay. Ordered a poke bowl and my friend the sushi. It was okay however very salty. But the service was horrible. The waitress disappeared for 45 minutes and then returned to take my order. She looked genuinely surprised that I was still there when I spotted her. I couldn’t get a refill on my water to save my life. When it came time to get the check I had to wave her down again so she could remember that I haven’t paid yet. This place is cool on the inside but the food and service do not make up for it.

We had an absolutely amazing time recently when celebrating a pivitol birthday for my oldest daughter.  Kareem, our server, was top notch!  He was extremely professional, made great suggestions, but most importantly he was able to cater to rhe birthday girl AND my 3 year old daughter.  My little one, can be a lot to handle.  She talked and talked and talked to him, and to the servers that brought the food.  Everyone was so kind, genuine and interacted with her.  She talks advanced for a 3 year old (literally according to her speech therapist, not just saying that cuz I'm her mom ;-) ), but she was having a hard time saying "Kareem".  It kept coming out either "reem" and then "ice cream" after he surprised my oldest daughter with a birthday dessert.  Kareem really made our experience as enjoyable as it was.  I look forward to coming back another time with my friends for a girls night.  The food and drinks were also fantastic.
I'm not sure if you have any awards annually or monthly or anything, but Kareem really deserves something.
Thank you Kareem for making our celebration so wonderful.

Ordered from Uber Eats. Massive mistake. The portion sizes are absolutely ridiculous (and I don’t mean that in a good way).

Believe it or not, they are charging $18 for ONE tuna roll. The photo in the Uber Eats app makes it appear as if you are getting FOUR.

The food was okay and not worth the price at all.

$60 for 4 pork buns and 2 tuna rolls should be illegal.

My husband and I walked a very long way to come here because multiple reviews across yelp, Google maps and HappyCow said this restaurant had a separate vegan menu with tons of vegan options. When we arrived, we told him we wanted the vegan menu so we were seated. We asked for the vegan menu and we’re told there was no such thing. We even showed them the pictures from online reviews, but they said they don’t have a separate vegan menu but the vegan items are marked on the current menu. Unfortunately, there just weren’t enough options for us to have a satisfying meal so we left.

Amazing food, delightful ambiance, great service! Went here for the first time for our anniversary. Jeremy, our server, did a fantastic job, offering great recommendations, and by being friendly, warm, and enthusiastic. My meal was great, the Szechuan Chicken--a very large portion size. Crispy and delicious! My wife really enjoyed her Pad Thai. In addition the steamed buns we got as an appetizer (Korean Fried Chicken on 2 of them, and Pork Belly on the other 2) were real show stoppers!! So delicious! A must-try. Round everything out with a impressive selection of specialty cocktails, and you have yourselves a immensely enjoyable night out!

ZERO STARS--Visited Sunda in downtown Nashville for the first and last time last night 7-1-2024. We were excited because it looked nice and we were ready to eat and drink and fellowship. But what we received was absolutely terrible service and the food wasn't much better. We supposedly had a $1,000.00 minimum to meet which I'm quite sure we did but we were told we didn't even after multiple attempts to get many checks fixed. (Most including mine needed drinks added)We all had multiple drinks and appetizers and everyone had an entree. Waited over and hour to get checks fixed and had to deal with a very unprofessional manager who asked two of our party to leave after they questioned the terrible service we received and why one of our guests owed over $300 in unaccounted charges and not meeting the minimum. I've been to many many restaurants and I've went with larger groups and never been treated anywhere near this poorly. It was a Monday afternoon and the restaurant was nowhere near busy. Zero patrons at the bar and we counted many employees. Any of which could have offered to help the struggling, very inexperienced manager handle the situation but of course they just walked around in circles and did nothing. You charge $1,000.00 minimum on a dead Monday night and also automatic gratuity? If it were a Saturday night and you were shorthanded it would be easier to explain but there were very few patrons and now we know why. Does the manager make a percentage of the $1,000.00 guarantee? Was she skimming off the top? Did we get scammed by someone embezzling money from the restaurant? Who knows, all we do know is that we won't ever be back inside a Sunda ever again and neither will anybody in our company or anybody that our company entertains. There's too many nice restaurants in Nashville that we go to get treated this poorly. Absolutely terrible

5 stars!! I’m from NYC and visited Nashville with my Filipino parents and of course at the end of our trip they were craving Filipino food. We were staying near The Gulch so Sunda was the perfect spot to try. We were so impressed with all the delicious dishes!! Pork adobo fried rice was our favorite and the crispy pata was super tasty. Unfortunately our experience was not the best. We were sat and waited over 20 minutes for service in a near empty restaurant. We finally had to ask to be served after seeing another table being sat and served immediately. Then no one knew who our server was and it still took another 5 minutes to be served. The food is excellent but if I’m spending $200+ at a restaurant, I expect service to go with it. We sat with empty drinks and had to ask for refills and even silverware. We love the food but will probably not be back.

An invite from our friend @thetipjarnash took us to @sundanewasian for one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Nashville. Its name is a nod to the Southeast Asian continental shelf underlying the region inspiring the myriad of flavors highlighted by the array of cuisine from founder @billydec and executive chef @mike_sunda

From Dim Sum to sushi rolls, main courses and “new Asian creations,” there is truly something on the menu for everyone. As always, we’ve posted a guide to our “reel” menu below in case you want to say, “I want what they had” (and we’re pretty sure you will.)

🍹: Grass Tiger & Strawberry Fields
🍣: Signature Crispy Rice {Wagyu & Spicy Tuna}
🥗: Crispy Brussels Sprouts
🍱: Sweet Potato Caterpillar & Island Maki
🐟: Tom Yum Sea Bass
🥮: Bibingka*

Also of note: Kevin our waiter was incredibly kind and knowledgeable - he elevated the entire dining experience and we’d definitely recommend requesting seating in his section. Also a huge thanks to Matt for his hospitality and attention. Thank you Sunda for a top-notch experience from food to service, start to finish.

*Bibingka was an off-menu dessert item that you absolutely should ask for. If you happen to have a gluten sensitivity, bonus points that this cake is made with rice flour! In fact, many items on the menu are friendly to dairy, gluten and other allergies or sensitivities. Also of note, most of their cocktails can be served as mocktails without sacrificing any flavor so you can still drink decadently without imbibing!

I was visiting my parents in Nashville and wanted a great bloody mary and brunch. I saw the Sumo Mary online and picked Sunda specifically for that! We ordered Sumo Mary for and the Mimosa kit for drinks. Entrees were chicken scramble gomae, tempura french toast, Sumo Mary and Longanisa island plate as well. We also had the UBE waffles.

The UBE waffles, chicken scramble and Longanisa island dishes were good. I wouldn't order the French toast or Sumo Mary or any bloody mary there. Sumo Mary was very disappointing. Mix was salty. I was told it was Sunda's version of Mix. I couldn't bear to drink it, returned the drink. I order avcocktail since I couldn't drink the bloody Mary and ate the toppings it came with. My cocktail was comped in place of my bloody mary but still paid $48. Service was Wonderful. I think his name was Kevin. I would NOT go there again for brunch.

Positive: Our waitress was great, food was amazing. My friend ordered the Tom Yum Sea Bass, one of the best tasting fish I have ever had. Great vibes.

Negative: reservations aren't as important to the restaurant as you would think. My group called ahead, letting the hosts know we would be late 10 by minutes. We were assured it's fine. Show up and we end up waiting 15 extra minutes because people were overstaying their reservations. Why offer reservations for tables when you can't have them ready for guests even 10 minutes later than they should have been?

I’ve been to Sunda maybe 10 times over the past few years. The food has always been excellent: fresh ingredients, interesting flavors and HUGE appetizers. The sake list is varied and of good quality. The service also has always been great, accurate execution, attentive without being intrusive, chill and fun. All this was true as of a couple of months ago.

BUT…

When I went a couple of days ago, there had been important changes, of a kind that signal to me that the restaurant has either recently been acquired; or else the current owners are trying to manage their numbers to make Sunda into a more attractive and lucrative acquisition for next owners.

That said, I’ll start with what hasn’t changed. The service is still absolutely crackerjack. We had a great server who intuitively found the right pacing, and briefly joined the repartee at the table without ever over-staying or over-stepping. Servers like that are rare and yet add a great deal to the experience, at least in our circle.

The sake list is also still very good, though the prices have gone up steeply. For example, Takatenjin is now $23 a glass, while it can still be had for $18 at other great spots around town.

The food is still very good; but the menu, prices, fish quality and fish portion sizing have all shifted so as to increase the business’ top and bottom lines both, that is, increase revenue (higher prices) and increase profits (lower costs per dish). It’s what businesses do to increase their sale price; and what new owners do, when they over-extended to acquire a business, or discover that their projections were too rosy and they over-paid.

Examples I noticed. The Tuna Tataki is gone, which used to have solid large pieces of very exposed tuna that had to be and was always very fresh. It’s been replaced by a Yellowtail “tatare”, meaning the fish is chopped up, can be made from left over bits, and the fish pieces are mixed with plentiful amounts of avocado, which means they can use less fish and the fish quality can be a notch lower. And this dish costs more than the Tuna Tataki did.

I also ordered sashimi. The Unagi was cut differently so that pieces were smaller. The smoked salmon was cut much thinner and was flash-grilled on both sides, making for less of it and again allowing for the quality to be a notch lower. The Otoro was also just a notch lower in quality, the pieces were cut a bit thinner from a block that had a slightly smaller cross-section, and its price had jumped from $40 to $43 per order.

The restaurant, usually packed, was about half full, so maybe other people are noticing what I’m picking up and voting with their feet; or maybe it’s usually quieter early in the week, though Sunda always used to be good enough that I’d expect it used to be packed all week.

Sunda is still a solid 4 for the moment, good setting, great service, food is very good if not quite great as before; but value-wise it’s gone from just a tad pricey to not the best value for the dollar compared to many other excellent venues around town. Before I go back, I’ll be watching reviews to see if they start trending down.

Brandon was very informative, charismatic, and knew exactly how to tell a great dad joke. My mom was in town visiting so we decided to take her to our favorite spot. We tried new apps (recommended by Brandon) 10/10

Will be sure to bring all of our family/friends here when they visit!

We went there yesterday for my birthday! Marcus was the best! He offered suggestions on things we liked and made sure we didn’t have dietary restrictions. So friendly and funny! The music was a little too loud tho.

Bait and switch or less is not more would be the theme of this meal. The chicken Pad Thai was about 50% chicken and 50% tofu cut into randomly shaped pieces that doubled as a cheap chicken substitute. Sunda is soooo shady, but we see you! The longevity noodles were greasy with less than a crab claw worth of meat for $29. Are you feeling ripped off yet? Pork Belly Bao buns with a thin over cooked peice of leather we had to send back. We replaced the pork bun with korean chicken ones and thank God for the flavor and the sauce as we hardly missed the rest of the meat in this paper thin slice of fried chicken. Maybe we should call them Jive Turkey Bao Buns. The sushi was average and a bit chewy...yawn. $200 meal was hardly worth $100. A terrible value for a miniscule amount of protein. The waitress couldn't even bother to refill our drinks. I feel so used.

The food, the atmosphere, the staff...un-real! Definately go here if you are un the Gulch! Get the pork belly bao bums and the shrimp tempura. Anything you get will be amazing. What you DONT want to get is a drink. A BOTTLE of Josh for 70.00?! Sir, have you lost your mind?! Typical upcharge on a bottle of wine in a restraunt is double the cost. Fair enough. Sir, a bottle of Josh is 16.00! SIXTEEN DOLLARS and you want to charge 70?! That's robbery. I will never buy a drink here and would suggest people NOT buy drinks until the come out of the atmosphere with those RIDICULOUS prices!

Place to a good but wine selection is horrible, don’t order any wine. Need to hire someone or a company who understand wine. Worst part is they don’t have any wine which can pair with their own food.

We had reservations for dinner, and we were quickly seated. The host and service were very friendly. The waitress was willing to explain menu items and offer suggestions for drinks and how to order since most of the menu items are meant to be shared. The items from the sushi bar come out quicker than the hot items from the kitchen. Everything was delicious and reasonably portioned for the prices. It’s definitely an experience and dinner at the same time.

The service was great, food was amazing and fresh. The chef came out to make sure we were satisfied, and was the nicest man. He then made us a tuna roll, that was out of this world, and something I would have never thought to order. Definitely a come back place for my business trips to Nashville

Great restaurant, too bad we don't live in Nashville to frequent this restaurant more often! Ordered the Midori sushi roll, the surf and turf sushi roll, and the Krispy fried chicken steamed buns. Everything was amazing, but we didn't love the surf and turf roll. Server and managers and staff were very attentive to all details. Would recommend.

As a foodie decided to try this place after work. The ambiance is good dimly lit with some very varied interesting music playlists with every genre covered. The waiter was good and pointed us to their take on certain classic alcoholic beverages which we ordered. This place is best for a few people ordering a bunch of small dishes and sharing. We ordered a few random things on the menu for classic and some more interesting. Overall the dinning experience wasn’t bad. The food is good with the steamed buns a standout. The Tartare was good overall. Adobo fried rice was a healthy portion and good also. Overall a decent experience. It’s a place you can find one or two favorites and stop by periodically.

Our server Madi was fantastic. She was kind, patient and knowledgeable. The food was great! I loved every second of it. I’m on a diet and still was able to enjoy a lot of the menu items without compromising my diet! The only thing I didn’t particularly like were the steamed buns. Not my favorite item but it was still ok. The tempura French toast, Brussels sprouts and lumpia were my favorites that I tried! 10/10

Great place if you are looking for some asian food it is as close to authentic as you can get in Tennessee. This far and away one of the more unique eaterys in Nashville. Definetly recommend this place if you are tired of steak houses and BBQ.

1) Have you ever had food so good you try to eat it in as small of bites as possible and very slowly so that you can savor it for longer?
2) Be adventurous and try something on the menu you wouldn't normally order.
That's it, that's the whole review.

Some people may find it overpriced.

We came here for our joint bachelor/bachelorette party with a group of 16 people. This place was absolutely amazing! Our servers Briana and Mia were incredible. The chef and managers themselves came out to congratulate us on our engagement and brought us a surprise dessert and glass of Prosecco. They made the night so special for us and it’s a dinner I’ll always remember. I highly recommend!

I decided to hold hold our huge family reunion at Sunda-New Asian after visiting different venues in Downtown Nashville. Nicole from catering helped put together an awesome menu and arranged the gathering to be held where the communal tables are located which facilitated social interaction. The tables were covered with banana leaves for an added touch of ambience as we would experience in big “fiesta” gatherings. Chef Johnny executed and orchestrated what became an amazing culinary journey. The waitstaff also did not skip a beat.

We started with crispy brussel sprouts, tiger shrimp tempura, lumpia and lemongrass beef lollipops. The main course was highlighted by a special-ordered “lechon”, a traditional Filipino roasted sucking pig, stuffed with lemongrass, garlic, and ginger served with dipping sauce. But we also had Hainanese Salmon, Pancit Canton Noodles, Crispy Pata and Chicken Inasal. Side dishes were miso cauliflower, dry braised string beans, jasmine and adobo fried rice. We finished off with assorted flavors of mochi ice cream. Coming from Filipinos tasting their familiar native dishes, Chef Johnny and his crew have definitely outdone themselves.

We recently went to Sunda on a Saturday night in Nashville for my son's birthday. We were a party of 6. I inadvertently forgot to make the reservation. I felt horrible (and embarrassed) but the staff at the front desk were completely professional and polite about the whole thing. They were able to still accommodate us without any fuss (or if there was an inconvenience for them, they did not show it!). For that, I was extremely appreciative. From there the evening continued to be lovely - friendly and attentive service, great food, great ambiance.

This was a pleasant surprise.
They have some Filipino dish (I'm from the Philippines). I ordered the island breakfast plate, all (with longanisa, tocino & bacon). It was my comfort food, the longanisa (sweet ground pork sausage) and tocino (pork cured in sugar, salt, pepper, and garlic). Too bad I didn't get to take a photo of it but they gave me a lot of meat (no complaint)!
