I don't know what has happened between a couple of months ago to now.
1. The rice was sticky
2. The sushi roll was sub-par at best
3. VIP Roll didn't taste the same from prior months
4. Every time I visit there are new staff members
5. The prices in the store don't match the prices on the website.
I wonder if Umiya All-You-Can-Eat opening is causing the decline in this establishment. Or maybe poor management is the issue. Either way, I will not dine again.

Cool place, but the price to quality doesn't match up. We recently gave this place a second shot after a lackluster first experience over a year ago. The ramen was extremely salty and lacking in flavor. The sushi is very expensive (Red Koi also has pricey sushi, but their rolls are pretty big). We both felt I'll after eating here. Do not recommend.

i ordered here for the first time(take out food was done quickly) and got their veggie sushi, potsickers, and chicken hibachi. honestly the food isn’t worth the price. my sushi was falling apart and rolled very sloppy i had to opt to just eat it with a fork to get all the ingredients together in one bite. the potsickers were good and the lunch chicken hibachi was good but nothing special. i think this will be my first and last time. wasn’t really sold on anything i ordered.

The service was very slow. Probably sat for 45 minutes before getting our food in random spurts and it wasn’t great. White rice tasted like bagged rice and was just not good. Had to ask for yum yum sauce even though it says the meal comes with it. The sushi was falling apart. We didn’t receive refills on drinks as our cups sat empty during our meal. Spent over $100 with tip and left feeling unsatisfied. It was the first, and definitely last time I’ll eat there. Waste of money and time for sure.

My overall experience with Rock n Roll Sushi over the years has been a mix. However, the service I’ve received over the years and today is so unprofessional I do feel the need to make a review. To be fair, the food is usually tasty and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very modern and within the Rock n Roll theme. The service however leaves much to be desired. Usually if I’ve had an issue, I’ve been able to speak to management and it’s handled. However today, my UberEats order was given to the wrong person. My driver called me to let me know and I confirmed that my order kept saying it hadn’t been picked up.

Due to the fact I ordered through the app, I needed to cancel in the app - which is annoying but fine. However, a staff member was extremely rude to the driver, never apologized for the mistake to me or the driver, and abruptly told him to leave. I heard everything on the phone and I’m so appalled that someone would be that rude. That being said, I will not spend my money at this place until I’m certain everyone is treated with respect. I hope someone at the restaurant reads this and understands this was avoidable, it can be fixed, and actually speak to the employee who was so brash today.

My daughter & I had lunch there today. My first time, but she has been there before. I LOVE the atmosphere - the decor, the gigantic TV playing cool music videos...even the women's restroom was the coolest restroom I've ever been in! Our server, Nancy, was fantastic. Very welcoming & attentive. And the food was amazing! Beautifully presented & tasted just as good as it looked. The nastiest ramen I’ve ever had. And I’ve been to plenty, not to include being stationed in Japan where it actually originated. But this is not ramen. The noodles are mushy and the wrong type of noodle. The broth is HORRIBLE and Americanized. It’s SALTY, gritty, and tastes nothing like ramen! The egg tasted weird and old. Will never eat here again!

I've been eating rock and roll sushi since they opened in Cordova. Yesterday I was very disappointed. I ordered takeout. The cucumber salad already had dressing on it and the lettuce was soggy by the time I got home with it. In the past the dressing has always been in a cup. The second issue was the child's hibachi steak. There was literally five Little pieces of steak. Third issue was that the miso soup didn't have a single piece of tofu in it. I called the restaurant and was told that since new ownership took over they have cut back on their portion sizes and there's no longer a tofu in the soup and they didn't know why my salad already had dressing on it. I told the manager of the store that they needed to update their website because their website clearly has tofu in the soup, and a larger portion on the child's steak hibachi. I talked to the store manager by phone and was offered a credit to my credit card for those three items. He said it would be about 10 minutes before he could do it. Here it is 20 hours later, and no credit has shown up on my credit card yet. Not sure if I'm going to go back there. I have always been a lover of rock and roll sushi but after this huge disappointment I don't know if I'm ever going to go back.

UPDATED REVIEW: After the new owner or new management the restaurant prices have gone up to almost fine dinning sushi prices (pics updated as well) the menu is now smaller and more pricey. No more cheaper rolls every roll is almost 20$ we got the crawfish roll and spicy shrimp roll. We sent back the crayfish roll and barely ate the shrimp one. We sent one of the rolls back bc it smelt like old fish. If your going charge premium prices don't cheap out on your ingredients. The rolls also got me sick and my girl sick more than likely meaning bad fish or it was the fake crabmeat. BUT with all the negative things out the way the pot stickers was AMAZING!

Fantastic atmosphere. I got the groupie roll and the vip roll both of which are some of the best sushi I've ever had even in Japan. The hibachi that my wife got on the other hand wasn't as good. The steak, shrimp, and chicken were great! Well cooked and flavorful but the veggies were a bit overcooked and the rice is complete mush. Probably best to stick to the fantastic sushi. They have an option to switch the nori for rice paper if you don't like nori.

I have eaten at a few of the RNR Sushi locations and they have always been good. The sushi always tastes fresh and they have good options for both raw and cooked versions of their dishes. They have a nice selection of appetizers and some other dishes too, if sushi happens not to be your thing. Overall a good sushi spot and I would go back.

WOW! What IS this place and WHY aren’t you here yet??!! Stumbled onto this sushi restaurant charging the Tesla and had the whole place to myself! Apparently this place just completed a major renovation and it shows - excellent decor, great classic rock music videos playing on the big screen TV, beautiful clean neon lit bathrooms - and the food rocks too! Everything came out perfect, fresh, and the sushi was just as good as my go-to places. Beer was ice cold served in a chilled glass. Dessert was a perfectly hot brownie & ice cream. I will come back next time!!

Had a group of 5 visit on Sunday 02/11/24. We had a wonderful server named Dominic that took care of our every need. He was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu/ food as well as drinks we ordered from bar. Food arrived quickly and very hot, drinks were never low or empty. He took care of every need and catered to us even while having multiple tables. The manager Erin stopped by to check on us and to make sure we had everything we needed. She was extremely accommodating and very kind and professional and even taking part in conversation with us about upcoming wedding for one in our party. The restaurant was very clean. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, the atmosphere, the wait staff, bartender, and manager. We will be back!!​

eating in is good but I just ordered take out sushi and the sushi rice was super hard. That's when I knew it was old. I recommend to not take take out here because they give you the bad old dry rice it seems. They don't care about the quality of take out. I've eaten in many times and it was perfect. I make sushi all the time and I can tell when the sushi rice is old and hard vs when it's fresh and good. In the picture you can see it looks hard and dry. I just ordered one thing and they couldnt give me good rice🥲 as you can see I posted this review 1 hour after the order was placed. In no means would an hour make sushi rice super dry and hard. I am very disappointed...

I never write food reviews, in fact this is my first ever, but the sushi rice was so remarkably inedible that I felt compelled to share my experience. Its texture was similar to the stale, dry rice often found at the bottom of a rice cooker.

But Thank you for your prompt response and apology. Moving forward, I'll make it a point to verify the quality of my order before leaving the restaurant.

When I collected my takeout order, I was in high spirits, trusting in the consistently good quality of your sushi. Normally, I don't feel the need to check the order on the spot, as I expect it to meet the high standards your establishment is known for. Unfortunately, discovering the issue only after returning home was quite inconvenient. To have to make a call or dm yall and then Having to drive back to the establishment so yall can redo it for me, is super inconvenient and a hassle. I hope this feedback helps in maintaining the quality and service that we, as customers, have come to appreciate.

My friends and I walked in at 5:15pm, were slow to be greeted, and once we were finally seated, with noone else in the restaurant it took 5 minutes just to put in a drink order. 10 minutes later we order our food, the appetizers were passable at best, and the 2 fried sushi rolls were burnt to a crisp and inedible. The other 2 sushi rolls that w we rent fried were ok, but as I saw in another review that I should have heeded, they put so many things on top of their sushi, that it takes away from the sushi.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend Rock N Roll Sushi in Bartlett to anyone. I love the idea they have going, but their execution of that idea is unfortunately lost in the kitchen and service.

Our first time eating here walked in and was seated immediately. All of the booth seats were ripped or torn, just from customer traffic, I'm assuming. Great selection on the menu with lots of variety. We ordered miso soup, filet mignon and shrimp hibachi, ginger salad, Cajun crawfish roll, and shrimp tempura roll, which were all really good. The crispy wonton were ok, not the best, but only because I'm not a fan of how they are fried. Not very busy, seemed to be one waiter and 2 or 3 kitchen staff, but service was very timely.

I don’t usually write reviews for restaurants, or anything for that matter. But I am compelled to do so here. Ordered some basic tuna and salmon nigiri and rolls. The fish looked terrible - the tuna was almost grey, and the salmon was pale and mushy. Both tasted awful. The rolls were very sloppy in terms of the technique and cutting. After a few bites, trying to give it a chance, we just had to stop eating it and throw it out. Some of the worst sushi I’ve ever had, and I was completely taken aback by how poor it was. At least we didn’t get sick from it.

Used to be on of my favorite sushi spots but this year it has really gone down hill. The past few times I’ve went they’ve gotten my order wrong. They’re always out of crab meat and the quality of the food just isn’t good all together anymore. The rice is undercooked and the veggies are over cooked in the hibachi and it always looks like they just throw the sushi rolls any kind of way on the plate. Service is still pretty friendly tho but over all I’ve been very disappointed with this restaurant lately.

We called in an order. Was told we could Pick up in 20 minutes Arrived and waited an additional 33 minutes as multiple Uber eats and other food couriers come and go. Several people came back with wrong orders. Would be hard to give this place any business in the future. The staff were unresponsive, non-apologetic, and awful. Management of this establishment should really evaluate who is working and interacting with guests. Such a shame!

If cooked sushi is your thing, this is your spot. Extremely limited raw options. Very American-ized. Delicious, nonetheless. Helpfully staff. They seem stoned most of the time. Lots of confused giggles and forgotten items on the order, but they always bring what's lacking and make up for it with high spirits. Prices seem fair. Ginger salad is better than expected. I've been twice and would not hesitate to return.

My husband and I went to dinner here last night. Not a good experience at all, and won’t be returning any time soon.

Our server was nice enough, she mentioned she was new and seemed a little nervous, but honestly she did the best job she could with the circumstances out of her control.

We were seated at least 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and asked for drink order. It took a very long time to get one bottled beer. We ordered an appetizer sampler and one sushi roll. Those came fast and were really good. They claimed to be “out of” silverware (though I could see all the silverware on a cart next to the bar) and gave us to go plastic ware.

We ordered hibachi dinners, we both chose steak combos. They are supposed to come with soup or salad. We were informed they were out of soup AND salad. They wouldn’t allow anything else to be subbed nor discount for not having that part of the meal. 15 minutes later we are informed they are out of steak. Asked if they can change our orders to shrimp/chicken combo. An HOUR later we get our food. The rice was cold. Not even room temp. Like it had been sitting on the plate that whole time, it was also mushy like it was very very overcooked. Same with the hibachi vegetables, not even remotely warm. The chicken and shrimp were hot. But the portion was equivalent to a child’s portion at other hibachi restaurants. It was really disappointing. I ate the meat and left the rest.

Waited about 20 more minutes to get the check. Paid and left. The app was good, but not good enough for me to care to come back. The whole experience felt like a waste of money and effort and we wished we had just stayed home.

I have nothing against the food or the people that work here. I think the sushi is just fine for Bartlett, TN. So are the other food items, like the fried rice, tuna tataki, etc.

The reason for 1 star is you cannot count on this place being open. I went today (Jan 22, 2023) and they are completely closed for the Sunday lunch rush. Open sign is on and flashing and their operating hours signage shows that they're supposed to be open. The door is completely locked, the chairs inside are still placed on the tables as if they just closed for the night, all other lights are off, and no sign or notice is placed up front to let you know they're closed due to whatever issues they're having.

If I have any advice for the managers that run this restaurant, it's that the worst time to be closed for business if when you have a customer that wants to eat. It reflects poorly on your business when you're closed unexpectedly and it communicates to me that I shouldn't count on you for food. This has happened to me twice and I guarantee it will not happen to me a third time because I have officially given up on eating here. If I never think about this restaurant again, it will be too soon.

If you are a sashimi purist, don't bother. Photo is of their tuna and salmon "sashimi". The atmosphere was cool, the waitstaff was awesome, but the food wasn't up to par for me personally. They did give me half off my check so they are good humans.
UPDATE: The owner Craig asked me to email him which I did the day I received his reply. He has still yet to respond. Speaks volumes…..

Came for date night, I ordered the groupie roll and my husband ordered a tuna roll and another roll. Upon receiving my roll I noticed there was no tuna, as described on the menu. My husband had tuna in his roll, so I asked if I misread the menu, she came back and stated they were out of tuna. This was a lie, the next 4 rolls that came from the kitchen had tuna. I was frustrated, but didnt want to cause a fuss so I ate half the roll without tuna, basically a glorified California roll. When the server brought me my check I told her I didn't want to be rude but the most expensive part of my roll was not there and I asked for a comp on the roll. Told her I would be happy to tip the original amount. They gave me $2 off a $14 dollar role. The lying was the first straw, the lack of care was the last.

Spent 1 hr and half at this place, got here around 4:45pm didnt see a waitress until 5:04pm. We ordered appetzers and got them within reasonable time. We then waited for at least 30min. Before we got our cold hibachi dinners. Mind you we were basically the only customers there. It wasnt rush hour yet. So i returned my food for it being cold. We left there at 630pm. Disappointed. Our first time here, will not be going back. Seemed they must use frozen steamed veggies, because part of my broccoli and meat was cold to the touch

Sushi took FOREVER to get to our table with only 3 guests in the restaurant and it was shredded. It was cut unevenly and just falling to pieces when it was brought out, clearly the chef staff was left alone untrained for the job. The Gyoza was undercooked which was gross, but the edemame was good. Our server was completely overwhelmed despite only having 3 tables. Also, despite being quite expensive, our food was brought on chipped plates with plastic soy sauce cups.

Well if you have 2 hours to wait for someone who was washing dishes to attempt to make your sushi and a arrogant staff , Alice and the other waitress have had there newborns in the restaurant with there families and no customers no music the last two times we have been wish I could bring a newborn to a bar and watch the assistant manager say we don’t have to play music there are babies while they are serving alcohol. She said the owner doesn’t allow people back who leave bad google reviews and I said are you sure because the owner apologized for the bad service. Fire alice and there will be more people coming here but now it’s been run into the ground. Germantown is way nicer! Fun staff and they play music and no how to make sushi!

Went there for dinner recently, floors dirty and sticky, booths not that clean either, unless its beer or wine count on the drink being made poorly, sushi underwhelming. Overall just an eh experience. We had high hopes too as its near where we live and LOVE good sushi joints and go to them often.
