Went for a late Wednesday dinner, and we were the only 2 at our table. The beverages were great, and the stuffed jalapeños were excellent! I mean, a jalapeño stuffed with tuna should be on everyone’s menu. The chef was friendly and excellent at his job, and I know I have lunch or dinner with the leftovers for tomorrow!

We were planning a last minute engagement party, and the staff was amazing! They were so happy to host us with only a few days notice… even on fathers day!! They helped prepare the party room, and made our night unforgettable!!
The food was delicious, and everyone enjoyed the show.
They were so patient with us taking so many pictures and never rushed us! I 100% recommend them for your next family get together or night out!

Another good hibachi steak house with funny chefs and good food. There were two different birthday parties going on the night I went and everyone was laughing at the shared tables.
Bar had domestic and imported beer, liquor, and wine.
The steak and shrimp I ordered took about 10 minutes to cook up and was very entertaining to watch. Tasted good too. I had a fun time and plan on going back.

We went last night for the first time and were very impressed. Service was good, the cook was social and very good and the food was excellent. Not a bad price point compared to a lot of other hibachi restaurants. My husband and I did the shared portion entree of chicken, steak, and shrimp for an extra $6 which also included an extra soup and salad. We still have leftovers for probably two more days, it was so much food! We will definitely be back!

This was our first visit here. We brought my daughter here for her birthday eve dinner, she had such a memorable time. My girls rated it 10/10.
I think I’ve avoided hibachi for so long because it always seems like such a long event, but this wasn’t the case. Our family was entertained and had a delicious meal and we were out within an hour. It was amazing.
We reserved a time through google assistant to avoid a wait, but it wasn’t crowded for a Friday night. We had hibachi. Our food was extremely generous serving and packed with flavor. My daughters loved the ginger salad dressing. We will be returning for more family dinners.

So incredibly disappointing and downright awful. We had family visiting for Christmas and thought treating them to a Christmas Eve dinner out would be lovely. From the moment we walked in it was bad. We waited 45 minutes to be seated (we had reservations, of course) then waited another 25 minutes for a chef. The floors in the dining room had food and debris all over. My mother in law had to be persuaded to sit down she was so disgusted by the food all around her chair. The green tea was so weak you could hardly tell it was tea, the miso soup was a bowl of salt water. The chef put a massive amount of over seasoned rice on each plate and a very small serving of vegetables. My husband and daughter ordered ribeye steaks and chicken. I was shocked when I saw how small the servings were and what was there was gristly and incredibly poor quality. The chicken had a very strange taste and both she and my son in law who also ordered chicken barely touched it. I ordered shrimp. It was over cooked and tough. We had nine people in our party. We consumed no appetizers or alcohol. Three people ordered soft drinks and three ordered green tea. Our bill was $352.00 (including a %15 tip). There was no bartender at the bar, no greeter, little seating in the lobby for the long wait for our table and it was way understaffed. No one bothered to inquire if everything was ok or if anyone needed anything. The one compliment that I’ll give is to the server who refilled the sodas several times. Overall however, an absolutely terrible experience.

Great experience taking mom out for her birthday.
She has such a good time. Gordon our server and Wayne our chef made the evening special. The food was great! Huge portions! If you like leftovers, you will be happy. We had two to three meals left over, and our teenager was actually full for a change and only had a very small leftovers left, he can eat! Gordon and Wayne made my mom feel special and also, were very entertaining for the rest of our party. We will be back. Thanks again guys!

Very disappointed in our order to go. Sakura is so close to us and we thought it would be the authentic hibachi or teriyaki flavors. So Christmas Day we ordered online. The Chicken Hibachi & Steak Teriyaki with fried rice and ginger salad. The lettuce had started turning brown in bottom of container and they Putman fresher lettuce on top. Yuck. The fried rice was NOT what we were expecting no egg or onion cooked with the rice…just rice and hardly any seasoning. My husband had 8 tiny pieces of steak filet. My chicken was tough and chewy. We both decided we could have made better at home. I gave 2 stars for effort and being open Christmas Day.

Overall, NOT a bad experience! Miyabi's is better, for the same amount of money and I probably won't be back. Lack of seasoning, the chef had overcooked my steak (medium well vs the medium rare I ordered) but he offered to make a new one which was really nice! Shrimps were HUGE. Chef let the veggies burn a little, and the soup tasted kinda bad. There was no "show" . My mom wanted "white rice" and he made a joke saying she was "riceist". He said "they had to cook it in the back" well everyone else's meal is almost done and mom hasn't heard anything about her meal and the guy is nowhere around to ask about it. Finally mom asks about her meal and the chef takes the ticket, and says "oh I could've made that here...."
Overall the food is edible, but for the distance and the price it definitely isn't worth it and I suggest going elsewhere!

My family loves Hibachi! My husband the most. Tonight we went to Sakura Japanese Steakhouse for my son’s birthday celebration. We try to mix up the Hibachi places we go to and this is the 3rd time we have gone there! For us it’s also right across the street so it’s a perfect location! Unfortunately tonight was a complete upset and we will not ever return. My husband is allergic to seafood, never been a problem, he actually laughs and says they make his first. At Sakura we were told they would have to make his in the back… never happened before there. Hibachi is yummy but it’s also supposed to be fun to watch them cook in front of you. Well he agreed because it’s was my kids birthday and not only did they bring it to him 15 minutes before the chef was done making all of the non-allergy food on the open grill but the portion was about the size of a kids plate. I went to the front and explained that it came way too early and it wasn’t even a normal portion size, especially for the cost! They did come back and take it to the back but came out with it 10 minutes after everyone else got their food… same small size and all. Not only did they embarrass the crap out of my husband for having an allergy, they didn’t give at all what he was supposed to get, didn’t apologize, and don’t make it a hibachi experience! So disappointed and angry! Imagine a grown adult being embarrassed for having a food allergy and being singled out, imagine how a kid would feel!

Only go here if you are expecting teriyaki and not hibachi. I got the steak and chicken. It was drowned in soy sauce and teriyaki so much that the rice was wet as well. The steak was to tough to chew. When I mentioned the steak, she said if I didn't want rough steak(I ordered med rare) then I should've ordered the fillet. $26 and couldn't eat it

Sakura is sooooo good! One of our regular spots. Very good value, compared to other hibachi places in the area. Friendly staff & great portions. Rice is a bit bland, but I just add yum yum sauce and everything is perfect! ☺️❤️
Would definitely recommend. If you get take out it seems to be a smaller portion btw.

Food and service are always good. We usually go here for our hibachi fix, sushi is good also. We have always sat in the sushi and bar dining area so we don't have any experience at the hibachi tables here, but that side is always busy when we visit. Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse, a gem I discovered while driving west on Woodruff, nestled within a plaza. The restaurant boasts an inviting atmosphere with tasteful seating and decor, creating a welcoming environment right from the start.
Despite it being a bustling evening, the service was impressively consistent and attentive, a testament to the staff's dedication. Culinary-wise, Sakura Japanese Steakhouse did not disappoint. I would rate the food a solid 9 out of 10. The spicy salmon roll, a highlight of my meal, was expertly crafted, featuring an ideal balance of flavors and textures. Although it didn't use whole fish salmon, the addition of crunch on the exterior rather than mashed inside was a delightful touch. The hibachi, another dish we savored, lived up to expectations, offering a flavorful and memorable experience.
Our appetizers and main courses were thoroughly enjoyable, reflecting the clean and well-managed state of the establishment. Despite the restaurant's popularity leading to somewhat tight parking conditions, this minor inconvenience did not detract from the overall positive dining experience.
I eagerly anticipate my next visit to Sakura Japanese Steakhouse, a venue that has certainly earned its place on my list of favorites.

Had hibachi booked for two at 7:30pm. While waiting in the lobby, a group left infuriated about the waiting time, first red flag. We are finally led to our table directly under an air vent pumping cold air in 40 degree weather. We waited for 15 minutes for someone to come and get our drink order, didn’t happen. I went to the lobby to find someone to order drinks and the bartender, who was having dinner, offer to help find our waitress. After another 5 minutes, someone finally comes and takes the order. I took the opportunity to ask her if the chef was going to start soon. She said that the chef needed to finish the previous table. Only one chef working for five hibachis. We ended up leaving and going to bonefish grill.
We will not come back to Sakura even when it’s only 5 minutes from our house. Not worth the drive.

The hibachi food is delicious. Large portions. A fun show to watch the food being prepared. Cocktails tasty as well. I suspect they are severely understaffed. We had a 5:30 pm reservation, were seated as 6:00pm, and our drinks arrived about 6:20pm. Once the dinner process got started, around 6:30, things went quickly. We will return.

Attempted to call multiple times the day before a Birthday dinner to make a reservation - the phone would not go through. Kept saying “voicemail not set up”.
Showed up with my party of 6. Was told it would be a 30 minute to an hour wait due to reservations. Said okay & sat down. 45 minutes later, they say it will be another 30+ minutes to be seated due to reservations.
So I went online and made a reservation for my party of 6 for 7:00 (30 minutes later). The hostess says “that’s not the way it works, you can’t make a last minute reservation”, but I got a confirmation text from them saying the reservation had been set. Hostess is refusing to honor the reservation or to seat us - and we’ve been waiting for an hour.
This has been a go-to spot for great sushi and Japanese hibachi for me and my kids. After tonight, will not be spending any more money here.
Insanely disappointed in the service for long-time customers. Hostess is super rude.

The food is a bit pricey but its pretty good. The service however is very poor. They don't listen very well and it takes you multiple times of asking to even get what you want. We made a reservation at 4:45 and didnt seated till like 5:30. We then had to ask multiple times for drinks and the food took very long to even get started. My mom asked for different silverware because hers was dirty they never brought new silverware. The workers are very nice but they just seem to be lazy and not caring at all. There is very minimal workers at the hibachi station about 2 or 3. I think there are better options around. For example fusion is similar to this place but does it way better. I would not come back to this place and choose something else.

We just had the biggest let down of service- they admitted it was their fault and then did nothing to make it right. We went in, they told us there was a 1 hour wait but they could put in a reservation. When we came back, the hostess (who was a different girl), told us they have two lists- a wait list and a reservation list. She notified us the previous hostess accidentally put us on the wait list so it would be another hour. I asked if there was anything she could do to fix it and she said no. Really disappointing.

Very slow. We arrived early for our 7pm reservation and did not get seated until 7:30pm. They kept telling us they were waiting on a table to clear, but we later realized they were waiting to fill the table. We didn’t get to order drinks until 7:40 and still hadn’t received them at 7:50. Other tables around us that had been sitting before we arrived were just receiving the pre-meal soup and salads.

I am in shock and highly disappointed at the service and food. We paid 25$ for our steak hibachi plates and we were told 3 ounces of steak was the portion that they would give us! Outrageous! I wanted an upscale Japanese dining experience in celebration of my birthday. A friend recommended this place although she did mention it was more of a casual atmosphere vs upscale. But since she ranted about how good and plentiful the food was, we canceled our late reservation at another Japanese restaurant in Greenville and opted for Sakura instead. Greeter who showed us to our seats was friendly and welcoming. Restaurant itself was just ok. I wasn't impressed with the overall appearance. It was basic. No fancy decor, memorable ambiance or over-the-top scenery that I felt compelled to record or photograph. I ordered hibachi ribeye steak and shrimp. My husband ordered hibachi shrimp, steak and scallops. Both included salad and soup. Soup was AMAZING! Our salads were just a small bowl of lettuce. NOTHING else! But the couple sitting next to us had color in their salad which I concluded was tomatoes & carrots. I asked the waitress to bring some tomatoes for us. After what seemed like an eternity...she brought us each ONE sliver of bite-sized tomato. I was disappointed. Just call this a bowl of lettuce. The Chef that prepared our food was great. Friendly and comical. The food was prepared to perfection and was delicious. The portion sizes were even better than expected. Was expecting more overall, but it was fine.

Went here for the first time for an early lunch today with the family and had a great lunch. Since moving up to the Greenville area awhile ago, we have not been able to find a consistent and good hibachi restaurant. We finally pulled the trigger to come here and I am glad we did!
The restaurant is clean and their hibachi rooms were clean as well. In classic hibachi restaurant style the salads were swimming in dressing, which is a plus in my book, and the ranch and ginger dressing was good. The soup was salty, but in a good way with good onion flavor and some chopped green onion.
The star though, and we did not have high expectations given oasted hibachi experiences in the area, was the hibachi. The chef was great and was engaging with our 3 yr old. Typically when you go to a bad hibachi the rice and vegetables are bland, the chicken can be rubbery with a bad sauce and same with the steak. This was not the case, every dish had great flavor. The rice was crispy and had amazing flavor on its own without ever needing white sauce. The vegetables were cooked well and again, had their own flavor profile which almost never happens. The steak was delicious, chicken was amazing, the rest of our party had the ribeye and scallops and they both received amazing reviews. Our kid, who is a typical kid, even said how yummy everything was multiple times, which I hardly get that at home! Lastly, I saw reviews for portion size and did not have an issue here. Easily have two meals.
The big question is consistency in restaurants like this, so I will be interested in going back and see if they can keep it up. As of now, we would highly recommend.

We went to Sakura because of a recommendation. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment. The sushi and rolls was pretty much uneatible. I ate a few pieces and left the rest. So bad neither myself or my husband could eat it. The tuna looked purple, if it was even tuna. The fish was mushy, & fishy tasting. We barely ate anything. My beer was the best part of lunch. We definitely do not recommend this place unless you like wasting you money for bad substandard food.
Waitress was nice but didn't make up for bad food.

No throwing rice to catch, no volcano , no nothing. I have never been so disappointed! Will never go back for a celebration. Was not worth the price we paid or the gratuity that was added without our say. So , so disappointed.

The Mauldin one is just as good as the CherryDale one, if not better.

The food was delicious and the service was wonderful! Our waiter and chef went out of their way to make it an enjoyable meal and experience for our family of six. We'll definitely go back!

Very good. Hibachi ribeye and chicken were great. We didn't have sushi, but everyone around us was ordering it.

The hibachi chefs are always wonderful. The food is cooked to order without exception. They are actively refilling drinks. No complaints!

I do not like giving bad reviews and I feel like they are probably a mediocre sushi place at best. I ordered takeout an hour before closing, long enough that I felt like I wouldn't get just trash, but I did. I am glad I asked for a side of unagi sauce, because other than that, all I had was a TON of soy sauce for the Tempura, no tentsuyu. The Tempura was odd. Two 9 inch sticks of 'shrimp' perfectly straight surrounded by any sliced vegetable that was on the cutting board. Vegetables were fried differently than whatever the shrimp was. I had 4 rolls, they forgot the uni hand roll, so I cannot comment on that one. The other 3 were just fine, nothing great, bland. Definitely reminded me of frozen fish, the only thing I can say for sure is it was not fresh. Terrible first impression, probably won't try again.

The staff is Super Nice and the establishment is clean. They no longer include shrimp with every Hibachi entree but it still expressed that on the menu. The lobster wasn’t fresh and I had stomach issues later on in the night and I believe that was the culprit. I don’t think my family and I will be returning. I hope they can do better because they’re really close to our home and we love hibachi. Oh well, Fusion in Greenville it is.

We were initially very excited Sakura was opening so close to us. Unfortunately after getting food poisoning twice from there we realized they have a major issue to resolve. Not to mention the sticky floors, chairs and dirty counters at the hibachi. Cleanliness is not a priority there, what can you expect in your plate?

Shrimp and scallop hibachi combo, rainbow roll, and fried dumplings very good. Scallops done perfectly, shrimp a little dry. Nice atmosphere not really fancy but nice

We’ve eaten the hibachi here before and it was pretty good, but I have to say the sushi here was horrible. The fish was old and even smelled like old fish when we opened the bag. We ordered takeout from here and now we’re having boxed macaroni and cheese, because we don’t want food poisoning. This was incredibly disappointing.

We got take out tonight and threw away half of our $50 meal. The lettuce in our salads were orange/brown and the clear soup we ordered was very salty without much substance. My husband had one tiny mushroom in his and I had a miso chunk in mine. The sushi was ok — I’ve had better. Maybe the dine in portion is better.

This was our first time there our host and server I believe her name was Lila was excellent food was also extremely good we had the lunch portion. I had the hibachi rib steak that was excellent 👍 this was our first time but it will not be our last time. May end up being my go to place being one of the nice thing is very quaint They have carry out as well. Keep up the excellent work.

Every single dish was bland or just plain bad. I had the steak fried rice and it had a sickly sweet taste of butter and the texture of rice pudding. The steak was way overcooked and was sliced into thin strips that had no flavor. All of our appetizers were garnished with wet lettuce so the gyoza and spring rolls were soggy by the time we got to eat them. Its a miserable experience considering the total price came out to 40 bucks for 2 people. Would expect anything redeeming from it.

Food tastes delicious and has a good variety to choose from and of course works well with a pescetarian diet. I had shrimp and lobster hibachi ...the seafood version includes scallops as well. The rice and veggies tasted great also. The ginger dressing was homemade and not from a bottle= pleasant surprise 😋. I can't say enough about our hibachi cook. I wish I had his name. He was AWESOME- dark-skinned African American appearance so I guess h3 was black. Only stating because I don't have his name but he deserves his KUDOS. He was so entertaining and made our long day work end with a most relaxed and enjoyable family dinner. Only downside was dirty dishes😒. Take care of that and it would be 5stars all the way for me.

Dozens of places for hibachi in the Greenville Simpsonville area don’t choose this one. They are too busy for their own good and customer service below par.

We just had lunch here and it was delicious. We sat at a regular table. Our food came out quickly and tasted so good. We had the hibachi chicken and shrimp. Both were cooked perfectly. The rice was very moist and delicious. You even get soup or salad before your meal. The price is very reasonable for what you get. We will definitely be back.

I have just found the best Asian food for my needs! I just discovered the resturant a couple months ago. I have only tried the shrimp fried rice and the shrimp are huge,I also get a side of hibachi vegetables and some gyoza. I wish they had better egg rolls, that would make it complete.

Food and chefs are great. Wait staff and hostesses are terrible. We had an incident recently where we were seated and preparing to order but was asked to get up and wait back in the lobby because we were waiting on someone else from our party. Like really? It was the hostess who seated us. No apologies or any remorse from their mistake. There is clearly a lack of communication between host and wait staff. Chef was great. Food is good. But not sure I’m a fan anymore because of the service.

The food was great as always! You can't go wrong with the hibachi filet mignon. They really do a great job with it.

Didn’t get a chance to eat there because when we walked in the hostess was drying off and wrapping silverware that was soaking in a bucket of water that had a roach sitting on a lemon they had floating in it. I told her it was there and I think she fixed it. I was to grossed out to stay. The roach was at least dead.

Stopped in to check it out and pick up menu. For folks who cannot breathe at a hibachi, (I don't like smelling like cooked meat for the rest of the day!) you'll be pleased to know, that's in a separate room. Even the kitchen is in back, away from the sushi bar and dining tables.
We ordered take-out.
Menu a bit confusing..."Split Change $2"...and "Shared Plate $6" (really!?)...and we somehow got - surprise - 2 containers of white rice yet would have ordered something else, as nothing we ordered was supported by white rice. Menu bullet point advertises "LAMB" yet it appears nowhere else. Is seafood fresh-caught? We guess not. This is important to add to any menu, especially here in the Upstate where quality wild-caught seafood is so hard to verify.
Children's Menu: Hibachi choices plus fried rice and veggies, $10-15. It's encouraging that they cater to kids "under 10."
Our Tempura was fresh-made and the veggies were fresh. Tempura pieces were batter-heavy. We're not sure that they make the spring rolls, pork dumplings and ginger salad dressing in-house. Side salad was basic with iceburg lettuce.
We will order sushi next time and update here.

Loved the Hibachi (got it to go) it was so delicious, veggies were cooked perfect and still crisp. Meats did not taste cheap like some of the knock off places around here. We really enjoyed it and can't wait to come back!

Surprisingly great addition to Five Forks. I honestly wasn't expecting much when they first announced, but it's great to be so close to home. Not only do they have a normal table side with both a sushi bar and a normal bar, but they also have the hibachi table side with 6 tables with seating up to 12 (10 comfortably). They even have a private room with a u-shaped cooking table for 20(ish). Honestly, it's not a 5 star restaurant, but it's family friendly, close to home, and the service and food was solid.

We decided to go here on Father’s Day because we figured that the other places would be an hour or two wait time. My wife saw that the restaurant was open so we figured we’d try it hoping not many people knew yet. We were seated within 15 minutes for Hibachi and we had a great time. The staff was friendly and very entertaining, the food was great as well. We will be going back.

Had take out sushi and yakisoba. Sushi was tasteless. We had a spicy tuna roll, and a couple house specialty rolls. The spicy tuna was bland, and we figured that was a good measuring stick against other sushi places. Yakisoba was great, if all you want to taste is noodles covered in sesame oil. Overall poor food and we will not go again. Much better options for sushi in the greater Greenville area. No comment on the hibachi experience, as we did not partake.
