My wife and I were celebrating our new baby girl being born and we had just placed a takeout order for pickup at the Summerville location the day prior. We decided we wanted more so this time I called to place a takeout order. Simple order 2 of each, 2 emperor rolls and 2. Last Sushi’s. I looked at the order and it seemed off, and they told me that instead of making 2 separate containers, they combined it all in one. I then drive home and serve my wife and she says that we’re missing one. I called back and they said they would have it ready for me when I get back. I get back and pick it up and my wife can tell that it’s been sitting for a while due to the aging of the avocado slices on top. It takes almost 20 minutes to get there and I don’t think that we’ll be going back to the North Charleston location.

Wasted my mf time waiting for 30 min after being told 5 to 10 min and watching multiple people and parties being seated. Don't come 3 or less they prioritize money so parties will be seated first and you will ba asked to set on the non grill hibachi side to accommodate the parties!!! They will claim there was a misunderstanding...BS!!!

Response : No apologies needed. What i said happened is what happened. After reading the recent reviews, I realized we avoided bad food, unclean environment, and poor service. We went to the Hibachi steakhouse by the Tanger Outlet. Much nicer, clean environment, and amazing food. You all may want to count yall days of operation after reading these recent reviews. Smh

Food was good when I finally got something on my plate I could eat.. didn't like the order in which the chef prepared the meats. Those who had chicken were served last meanwhile all we had to nibble on was a plate full of rice and a few veggies. Chicken doesn't take any longer to prepare than steak.

Beware...you might get sick after eating at this place! We're visiting from out of state and wanted steak. Tried to go to Texas Roadhouse but it had a 90 minute wait, so we decided to try this place since it was in the same plaza. First impression was ghetto. It just seemed dirty and there was a piece of plywood over a window. It had decent reviews so we decided to try it. We did the hibachi in front of us. What a letdown. The grease traps looked like they don't get cleaned. The chef didn't do any tricks besides the onion volcano. Their "fried" rice is plain rice with soy sauce, no veggies, no egg. Very large portions, but the food is just meh. My husband had the ribeye, and I had the ribeye and shrimp. We both have symptoms of food poisoning today and have barely been able to leave the hotel after eating there last night.

The wait time was twice as long to get seated. It wasn't busy. Tables weren't cleaned. The host and hostess were constantly on their cell phones. The restaurant was dirty. When seated the waitress was good. The main course food... Broccoli was cold, the shrimp very cold on both orders. We kindly asked for the manager to come over. I asked he physically touch the food we ordered. He replied, it's cold. The manager apologized and didn't ask if we wanted us to get new meals. He said... when, if you come back I can get 10% off next time. At this point my son and I just wanted to leave and go somewhere else...

My recent visit to Yokoso was nothing short of frustrating. Here’s what happened:

Order Mishap: I ordered a salad roll an hour before I arrived, but it wasn’t put in. I waited for 10 minutes only to be told they couldn't make it.

Second Order Failure: I decided to order another roll as a substitute, but guess what? That order also wasn't put in or had to wait additional 20 minutes. It’s disheartening to have to reorder when you’re already unhappy.

Unprofessional Staff: To top it off, the staff laughed at the situation. After waiting so long, their attitude felt dismissive and unprofessional, making me feel even more frustrated.

Quality Concerns: By the time I received the rest of my order, the food was no longer fresh, which added insult to injury.

Overall, this experience has left me disappointed, and won't be returning. It's hard to enjoy a meal when the service is this poor.

Went here for my son’s birthday. From the time of entry to the end of service, the staff were completely rude to my family. The portions of the food were small. When questioning the portion size, we were treated disrespectfully. The food was not seasoned well. The only meal that was shared is my kids. Each adult ordered their own meal. When the manager brought my extra chicken to the table after arguing with her about portion size. She bumped into and threw my food on the table.
Just overall bad service! Horrible quality of care.

If you want to have hibachi, you can have it here, but that is about the extent of what you will get here. We had the Yokoso dinner. The portions are very large. However the food quality lackluster. I have never had fried rice where the only topping is soy sauce, no vegetables or meat combined. The shrimp was overcooked to a hard rubbery texture, while the chicken was more so glazed sauce vs caramelized with the sauce like traditional Japanese hibachi. But the millet was cooked to perfection temperature wise. Decent establishment, but most likely will not return.

I liked this place so that it was my first time to try sushi due to confusion I spent my worst night was the birthday of my husband's best friend and it was our first time for everyone to try sushi we didn't know what to order one of each flavour could not be done and due to bad and lack of communication I asked for 8 rolls of 8 pieces that were too 64 pieces for only 4 people 🙅🏻‍♀️ his manager was very rude without knowing how to explain to me what was happening the only thing he told me take them to your house and pay them the super arrogant attitude with which I arrive at my table making scandal so that everyone hears my mistake how sad!

I wish I could review the chef different from the restaurant, he was phenomenal. The waitress was the worst. She was probably the worst than I have ever personally had, didn’t get my water until the end of dinner, that was only the 2nd time we saw her the whole time. We had to go get our own take home boxes and ask the manager for our check. The manger wasn’t much better and after hearing about our experience, all she said was “yall have a nice evening.” I would not recommend this restaurant. This happened on Saturday June 8 from 545-730 pm, in case anyone actually reads this and cares enough to see who was working.

I was so disappointed because I went there because of the reviews I saw online. Obviously they are not true reviews, the food was horrible, not a traditional Japanese stake house. I recently visited and had a very disappointing experience, primarily due to the service provided by our waitress. She was incredibly rude and inattentive, which completely ruined our dining experience.

From the start, she seemed disinterested and rushed us through our orders. She frequently forgot about our table, leaving us without drinks for extended periods. When we tried to get her attention, she was dismissive and continued to ignore our requests.

Additionally, she was coughing throughout the service without following any health protocols, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Despite bringing this to the chef's attention, there was no acknowledgment or attempt to rectify the situation.

The food from the chef was decent, but the overall experience was overshadowed by the poor service. I hope the management takes note and addresses these issues, as it greatly impacts the restaurant's reputation.

Good food and good drinks. Subpar service. I know at these kind of establishments the cooks somewhat follow a script, but our cook mason was silent for the most part. My husband was cracking a few jokes to break the awkward silence, and then at the end of our meal, completely unprompted mason pulls out the birthday drum and pretends it's my husband's birthday. It felt like he was trying to embarrass my husband on purpose. Not to mention we didn't even get a "birthday cake". The bad and unprofessional attitude certainly ruined the mood.
UPDATE Roughly 3 years later:
We wanted to give this location a try after some time and it managed to get worse. After waiting 20-30 minutes to be seated (this is normal I get it) and another 20 minutes for drinks and appetizers my friends and I realized the soup and salad were off, the ginger from the sushi was stale and to top it off OUR SOY SAUCE BOTTLE EXPIRED IN FEBRUARY. They replaced the expired bottle with a new one that, you guessed it, expired in February as well. Also something was dripping on to the grill. Save your time just go to the location in Summerville it's much better.

I would think that I would get more than four scollops and 6 pieces of chicken for $43.00. But the food is excellent, as always. And the staff is cordial and very attentive.

Went for what we thought was going to be a nice mother's day dinner for my wife and I but to start off with a server that took forever to bring drinks then asking for things it either came or not. Our cook I will give credit to for trying but on a busy night like this a new cook is not a good idea. Rice was burnt tasting hard and crunchy the veggies weren't cooked all the way. Three separate checks at one table and we were neglected as far as portions go. I got 4 small pieces of chicken, shrimp was over cooked definitely a disappointing night.

Ordered take out a couple nights ago and I was extremely disappointed. This is how my plate look when I opened it. When I eat in the restaurant my to-go plate has more food on it when I leave. The chicken was rubbery and the vegetables weren’t cooked they still tasted cold. If I saw this before I got home I would have just asked for my money back. I guess this is what you get for $30 now a days. I will definitely not be back.

Placed a to-go order last night, pick up was fine but a little chaotic. We ordered two steak and chickens. I was thoroughly disappointed in the meat… these are just the three largest chunks of fat that came off the extremely fatty steak. By the time most of the fat was removed there was maybe 1 oz of meat. These fat globs were extremely off putting and ruined the entire meal.

Wow. What an experience!
On February 24,24 I live 3 hours away and was in town visiting; stopped to order take out and was told at 615 that my order would be ready at 6:51 pm, the supposed manager (female) at the front was disturbingly rude, aggressive AND was easily identifiable with these long nails. She states her name was Sandra who didn't care it's 7:20 and it was obviously annoyed that we inquired about this additional 45 min wait.
But hopefully, your management will be reconsidered, and if she lied, that definitely does not need to be your front door representation!!!!
We asked to cancel all six $35 orders, and we'll go where customer service is better. She inserted herself into someone else's conversation unaffiliated with our party, and yes theres that behavior with them.
We have patronized this establishment in the past, and I've seen her there then with colored hair, and her deamoner was the same. This goes to show that a great night out can be impacted severely by CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

The additional star is only because the interaction with the bartender and the gentleman at Sushi bar were kind and professional.

The manager advised that her name was Sandra and she was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. She was waving her hands in the air and speaking very rude and disrespectful to paying customers. She offered NO APOLOGIES for the food being over an hour late; there was NO PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS and a COMPLETE INABILITY to be a leader! There were other employees at the hostess station witnessing a MANAGER BEHAVE THIS WAY.

Sandra is going to be the reason that this restaurant LOSES business as this is CONSISTENT RUDE BEHAVIOR from her.

This order was over $200 that was cancelled due to SANDRAs UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNTRAINED BEHAVIOR.

She was asked for her managers name and she said she didn’t know it. So while she’s throwing a tantrum and waving her hands in the air like she was out with friends at a party, she cost this business money.

After a hard days work, I went to Yokoso to get chicken Teriyaki and shrimp. I didn’t want vegetables, so I ask for rice to replace the vegetables. In this picture you can see that I have less chicken and less shrimp. The salad was not good at all and the onion soup tasted watery. I spent $30 on this meal and didn’t enjoy it. Management Team can someone contact me to make this order right? It seems that I spent $30 just for the Salad, Onion Soup, and Rice.

We stopped in there for dinner last night and were seated at a table with a young couple. They both ordered the same meal. He was given soup and salad. The chef came out and started cooking. The young man was not given any vegetables. He spoke up to the chef and said are you not going feed me tonight. The chef called the waiter over and the waiter said. I must have made a mistake. There was plenty of time for the man to get the food that the man ordered. Instead, he proceed to cook for the table. And had somebody in the make this man a to go box. It was hard to eat in front of him. When they brought out his to go box as we were leaving! He did not get to eat anything as we were all eating! He asked if he could have something off his bill for what had happened. They gave him a lousy four dollars off. His box had less food in it than mine and I had eaten a lot of my serving! He called the manager over and she refused to do anything else for him. She should have at least compensated him his meal. This was terrible customer service. The steak was full of fat and there was not much flavor in the rest of my food. We will NEVER return to that place. POOR customer service. Her refusal to compensate him cost her a lot more than his 30.00 meal that he didn't get to enjoy.

The main reason we had a good experience was because we had a great server. She was very attentive to her tables and ahead of the game when came to bringing drinks and checking in on us. The food wasn't bad for the price I was expecting which was the 20-30$ that is shown on here, however we ended up paying $100 for two people do for that price I can think of a multitude of other places with better quality. We were quoted a 30 minute wait time for the hibachi tables and after 43 minutes they told us it would be another 15-20 minutes do we ended up eating at a table which we could have already been eating at had we been quoted an accurate wait time. I understand how understaffed the industry is these days so this wasn't a huge deal but could be. The other two pointers I have would be to not have a ripped booth in the vestibule, it is the first thing your customers see. Also the lighting and garden out front need attention to make your location attractive to people passing by. Overall the experience was a good one but a little more effort from management would have made it a great one.

The place is aging. With no regard to improvement. They dont seem to care.
This is not a $20 restaurant.
Loads of fat in the meat. The meat is ALWAYS almost burnt. Who eats steak well done? Onion peeling was in my rice. The service seemed like they were more interested in what the football game score was on the TV.
Hibachi restaurants used to be awesome! Lots of great food and a great ambiance. It's hard to justify spending $100 on dinner when it's not even mediocre.
They just don't care.

Not impressed. I’ll start with the pros:
1: bartender was great. Quick to serve and gave a generous pour.
2: chef was fun and skilled. The food he prepared was delicious.
Now for the cons:
1: the soup tasted like dirty dishwater. I informed our waitress and she retorted with a snide remark.
2: I am almost 100% sure our waitress was high.
3: the salad was nothing but old, browning iceberg lettuce drenched in dressing.
4: they didn’t sing happy birthday to my friend whom we were there to celebrate.

The standards at this restaurant have fallen severely. Hopefully they will pull it together before they are forced to shut their doors.

30 minute wait with most hibachi tables empty. Waiter took our order fairly quick. It took a very long time to get our drinks (water and soda). And a really long time for out salads/soup. The salads were drowning in dressing. When we finished the salad with the ginger dressing it looked like a bowl of soup was in there. California roll…, was just eh. Had to ask for soy sauce and chopsticks for it. Rice was good… a bit too much soy on it, and it was burning onto the griddle. We did receive a lot of rice. Barely any vegetables and meat (chicken/shrimp and steak/shrimp). The “show” was non-existent. Older hibachi cooking area… not clean, but not dirty either.

Visited again 4 days ago. HORRIBLE GREETER! Made me want to turn around right there. Celebrating a birthday so happy event. The waitress, who was training, was attentive. The cook was pleasant and food was good. I can't quite put my finger on it but the atmosphere was just off, as if the whole place (meaning employees) was down. When the first thing you meet coming in the door is what seems to be a disgruntled, sour, unhappy employee it sets the mood.

Rude waitress, not the best attitude, long wait for everything, we were the last table and the cook rushed everything out, it was my father birthday and we did mentioned and while they sang happy birthday in other tables, they don’t even ask us if we wanted to order a dessert. Extremely disappointed with the service.

Came here twice. Both times food was great but got me and my guests sick immediately after (upset stomach). Unfortunately, the place is the definition of dirty. Napkins for table setting all had gunk, top of stove was dripping black grease on our clean plates, long wait for food, chairs and floor were sticky. Pricing is absurd. So sad because I feel like it could be nice.

Place looks like its really going to show out. Unfortunately, they use cheap cuts of meat and there fried rice is just a dash of seasoning,spritz of soy and oil. Service threw down the bill before the food was done and rushed us out as soon as they could. Wasn't even busy.

The best hibachi place we’ve eaten at. We were on vacation in Charleston and decided to try out this place. It’s my mother in laws first time ever coming to a place like this. The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing, our waitress was the sweetest. But, the best part was our chef Larry aka Delicious. If you’re ever in the area you definitely need to check this place out. You won’t stop laughing and it’ll be the best experience ever!

The place was average. We had to wait like 10 minutes, and finally got seated. Everything was fine at this point, we receive the drink order, appetizers, soups, and salad. Then we finally got a cook. He was very slow. There were tables that came after us, and they got done before us and we were sitting in there still 2 hours later.. He put too much seasoning on the food which made it salty. He overcooked the some portions of the meal. And when he made the fire there was too much oil on the grill, til it splashed on a couple of people, smh, burning me and a couple of other people.. I was not happy at all.. I know it is summer time, and the guy looked like an inexperienced student, but they definitely need to find someone faster, and more into the craft of cooking. This cook is not it..

As I'm sitting here inside this place. I just wonder what kinda place that sales chicken doesn't have white meat. The waitress says all we use is white meat. Then it's all dark meat. Gotta make sure your servers understand English. Then I ask for a steak medium and it's still bloody when I got it. Overall horrible experience

It is an all right place they do give you a lot of rice if you get the Hibachi table. As far as the food that's grilled on the table it might be just a little too much oil in it to make it too greasy but otherwise it's not bad.

The miso soup I ordered togo was horrible. It tasted so watered down. No flavor. The bartender was super nice and friendly when I picked up the togo food. Later on, when I called back about the miso not being good she was nice and professional over the phone and gave me a refund. I was really in the mood for some soup as I am getting over a cold, but looks like it’s chicken noodle from the can tonight for me.

Honestly this place has Gone down hill. We continue to come back to give it more chances but the service gets worse every time. The host always look so miserable. They look like they hate being there. Have the worst attitudes and literally will make you feel like you are an inconvenience for walking in. My husband and I used to come to this place to treat ourselves and it’s always something at this location. Summerville location will always be better 100%. I’ve also tried to call in a Togo order and was told I had to place the order in person which makes no sense.. then I call Summerville and of course they take my order over the phone. I definitely will not be surprised if this place shuts down. Get employees who know how to make your guest feel more welcome and put a smile on their face.

The hibachi side is not a flashy place and it had a "musky" thing to it. The show is a bit mediocre and the waitress awkwardly incompetent. BUT... they made us laugh, and they engaged with my kids and with the people on the table, making jokes and sharing stories, it was all in all funny... The food was decent, and the portion was obscenely large... This place is a hibachi circus, so it is perfect for families like mine, and friends like mine, very very casual and informal.

Once a year we go to Yokoso to celebrate my daughters birthday, but this year it was my grandsons as well. At first it was nice, but then the bottom fell out. First, before our food was cooked,, a waitress wanted to know how long the cook was going to be because she had another table to seat. Made you feel like our experience wasn't important. The cook did not cut the steak properly making the steak a little tough. The shrimp was okay, but when it came down to the chicken, he had not cooked enough. We had to wait another 20 minutes only to receive 1 breast between the four of us. The cook also talked during the night about how he didn't want to cook any more that night, and kept talking about pot. It was ridiculous. Will never go back to this location again. Will stay in Summerville. $210 for that? Glad my grandsons were too young to be aware.

Decent Japanese steakhouse. Never been to the hibachi side, not really a fan of that. Every time I've been I've gone to the regular seating area. The hibachi dishes are fine and the sushi is too. A little pricey for the quality. It's certainly the most viable option for the best choice of Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi in North Charleston. Everytime I've been the service has been excellent. That's the real selling point of this place!

I wanted to take my significant other to hibachi for Valentine’s Day because I’ve always told him how cool it is when they put on an exciting show! Turns out, it was my first time coming to THIS location and I was absolutely DISAPPOINTED. Yeah the food was good but our hibachi chef and waiter. As soon as our chef arrived, he looked like he was absolutely done like he did NOT want to be there . He never did anything fun ,rarely spoke to the table, and i felt upset and disappointed. I thought it was supposed to be great! Our waiter was nice but he told one of the people at the table about some misinformation and later on the person and the chef made a scene with that misinformation. It felt awkward. Towards the end when our chef was done he just dipped and it’s like our waiter forgot about us. We had to start looking for him because we wanted to just pay and leave . The experience was sad.
