The food here is really good! I’m a bit of a sushi connoisseur. We went during happy hour and the vibe was great. The sushi all tasted so good and despite being busy the food came out quickly! Fresh and delicious! The cocktails have great taste if you eat upstairs as we did they use plastic cups but still the drinks are great!

This was immediately adjacent to our hotel, so it was a slam dunk. We arrived at 6 pm and were seated immediately. Our drink orders were quickly taken. I ordered the Dragon and the Surf and Turf rolls. My wife ordered the incredible King Hibachi.

Everything came out in a reasonable time. The Dragon roll was very good, the Surf and Turf, while different was just okay. My wife's hibachi meal was absolutely great, chicken, steak, shrimp, and lobster! Wow!

The staff were all terrific and took very good care of us. No disappointments! Enjoy.

Her attention to detail, warm personality, and genuine care for our dining experience made it pure perfection. She made us feel welcome and ensured everything was flawless throughout the meal.

Now, let’s talk about the sushi – WOW! The sushi was out of this world, easily some of the best I've ever had. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented – every bite was a delight. If you're a sushi lover, this is the place to be!

We also sat on the rooftop, which added another layer of awesomeness to the evening. The views were great, the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and it just had such a cool vibe overall. We went before 5 pm, and we're greeted by a super friendly host... She asked if we wanted upstairs or downstairs. We had never been there, so we opted to see what upstairs looked like. It was half inside and had a small divider that had an outdoor section. It was pretty cold up there, but we didn't mind it.

We were greeted by a super friendly server named Cody. He made us feel super welcomed and provided top-notch service. I do wish it were warmer upstairs so more guests could've met him. He was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu.

The Short Rib Bao buns were fantastic and very flavorful. The miso wasn't the best I've had but still hit the spot with he colder weather.

The hibachi salmon and steak were great and cooked perfectly. We also had a JoJo Roll, it was very interesting to the eye and very delicious.

I would highly recommend this place for the overall atmosphere, flavors, and location.

Wanted lunch it’s 90 degrees and wanted not to eat something hot and heavy. Came here from Hyatt house across the street and this lunch was terrific. Ordered the three rolls and the specialty roll with one roll. We both had salads. The sushi rolls were really good. I had sangrias and husband had a Sapporo draft. It was nice lunch. Service was professional and both server and hostess checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything else. I recommend this for lunch for sure. Mia was a wonderful server

Second time at Fuji before a night out in Downtown Charleston.

The sushi was very fresh. I loved the unique textures of the Fantastic Seaweed Roll. Our dragon roll and tuna rolls were as expected with no complaints. The shumai unfortunately lacked a depth of flavor however they were steamed perfectly.

Arriving at the tail end of the prime dinner window (8:30pm), our hostess got us to our seat quickly. Our waitress was friendly and had no hiccups with the order.

The ambiance of Fuji is always nice and laid back. Low lighting with a nice fusion of a sushi kitchen and a puby/divey warmth sits swirly between the upscale elegance and history of downtown Charleston.

I have been coming to the Fuji locations for over five years. Fell in love with this crunchy roll which has drawn my taste buds back every time I'm in Charleston. Yes it's pricy. This one roll during lunch was $11. But worth it on occasion. Kind employees. Modern, Asian, fine dining atmosphere + a bar.

Friendly greeting was seated upstairs. The waitress was over quickly. We started with steamed shrimp dumplings, pork and chicken fried dumplings which were excellent. Followed it up with thr surf and truf roll and the steak Ramen. Again both were excellent.

i would recommend the sweet potato roll, cucumber roll, gyoza, and the dragon roll. the dipping sauce that comes with the goyza is amazing! and the sweet potato tempura roll is the best i've ever had. the chopsticks we received with our Pickup order are nice too! not those wooden ones you split at the top. and they gave lots of extra soy sauce as requested.

Quick dinner after arriving in town for a stay. The drinks were ok and the service was quick and attentive. We had both regular and unfiltered saki bottles that were a good choice.

The sushi was fine though not the best in the area and not very thick. My girls didn’t really like the flavor of the fried rice with the hibachi and we decided not to take any home.

The apps were good and all of the food came out quickly though some gyoza and dumplings were not hot.

Would try again on a non-holiday timeframe.

Definitely had low expectations walking in… so uninspired. Wait staff totally mid. I’m thinking…. Is this Ohio? Skibbidi toilet water for the miso soup. Would not recommend. Maybe the wasabi was crunchy?
Fish a little off color. Cream cheese suspect. Don’t waste your $$. Publix has better, less expensive options. Wait, why am I even giving 2 stars??? Definitely lacking rizz here. Move on down the road.

Stopped in for a few drinks and some sushi on a Friday night, which is almost impossible to do at the other Sushi place on King st. Coco and Johnny took great care of us all all night! The food was great (exceeded expectations) and the staff were friendly and always attentive. We will be back!

After a show at the Charleston Music Hall my fiancé and I were HUNGRY. We trotted down king street to Fuji and we made our way upstairs to sit with the sweetest bartender, Coco! We ordered some miso soup and gyoza to start. The serving size was perfect and warmed us up! We got a few different sushi dishes and some Taitaki. Coco was attentive, personable and funny! If you’re looking for sushi, hibachi or some cocktails with a rooftop view, this is your spot!

Do not eat here!! Food is good and service is fine but there are RATS in their restaurant!! I saw two during my dinner - one ran from underneath my seat and another one JUMPED on my seat!!! We were sitting on the outdoor rooftop around 9:20 pm on Wednesday 7/17. Disgusted - my bill was not even comped. I have heard that others have also seen rats in the kitchen.

I order sushi from here frequently. My problem is because I work 10 hour shifts at the hospital and they don’t have clear ingredient descriptions nor do they have options where you can make changes. If you aren’t going to have the accurate ingredients listed on the menu, I would suggest allowing returning customers to be capable of eliminating certain things due to allergies ect. All of us at the hospital have ordered from here less and less due to the convenience to get what we want or consistency.

Ordered takeout including hibatchi chicken, harumaki spring rolls and a crunchy sushi roll. Firstly, the hibatchi was subpar, flavorless and soggy unfortunately. The crunchy roll was pretty decent. I was quite astonished at how small the spring rolls are and the 8pc that the menu claims the order comes with, are actually 4 small peices cut in half to make 8 pieces. I called the restaurant after I got home with my food to confirm this was accurate and they said yes thats how it's served. Very misleading advertising, they should just advertise 4 rolls and then you can decide if you want to pay 8 dollars for 4 small (maybe 3 inches) rolls or not. Also my meal was missing the miso soup and they only give 1 soy sauce and 1 small container of white sauce with the entire order, no napkins either.

I am an owner. of a food and bev business here in Charleston. I want to give the biggest shout out to the bartender who literally sprinted down king street to hand me my credit card that I had forgotten when I closed out my tab. Mind you it was freezing outside and I had already made it two blocks. This was such a kind gesture and saved me a trip back downtown to get my card. I wish I had gotten his name so shame on me for that. But this act of kindness on his behalf was going above and beyond what he had to do and I deeply appreciated it. Kudos to Fuji for staffing such a great person.

We showed up pretty late at night and the whole staff was very welcoming. Especially the bartender Tayler who served us. I asked for a tequila cocktail and Tayler made an amazing spicy margarita. Tayler made great recommendations and we shared two shrimp tempera rolls and the king hibachi. The food and drinks were amazing but the service from Tayler was the best part of our experience. We also ordered the pork belly baos, a couple of rolls (Christmas roll was TASTY) and some take out food. Seriously, get the calamari age.

I came in tonight with a couple of friends, sat at the bar, which was full. I had never been to this place before I had a great experience with the bartender, Tayler And was able to talk with the people next to me about the menu. She made great recommendations for sushi and appetizers. My meal was great. The hibachi was out of this world and the sushi was amazing. I would definitely go back, especially if I got to sit at the bar and have the same experience again.

I don’t usually go out of my way to give a 1 star review, but there is nothing worse then terrible service. The place was half empty except the bar was almost fully seated. I grabbed a seat at the bar and the bartender did say she would get with me soon. I was there for 15 minutes without a menu. She did manage to get me the wifi password and a water.

At first I felt like it was slow, but at least she was checking up on me. Then two other guests showed up and another two and she continued to get drink orders from them and then continued to service them.

This left me wondering why I was the only Asian person at an Asian restaurant in the South not getting waited on when people that came in after me were getting drinks and their orders put in all after I arrived.

At this point I don’t know if it’s just “southern” hospitality, but it’s not a good look either way. Service was slow and terrible with a hint of potential racism.

I promptly got up and left after sitting at the bar for 15 minutes and only getting a glass of water and needing to ask to get a menu and watching people get served before me.

Pretty good rolls and very decent prices.
II had some pretty awful poke down the street, so I needed something to save the day and stumbled on this place. I did their three roll lunch special for 20 bucks, and it was worth the money.
The spicy tuna roll wasn't spicy, but it was good. The Hamachi roll was tasty. The salmon roll was also good.
No complaints, and the interior was cool. It was not the most spectacular service, but I didn't need anything fancy.

This sushi was so good. Every single thing we ordered SMACKED. We especially loved the tuna wontons, the steak negimaki, and the ginza. Rachel took great care of us, and we would definitely eat here again.

Sophia was amazing as a server. Gave great suggestions and super polite and attentive. Sushi was tasty and fresh. Gyoza was yummy! Spicy Tuna Wontons were outstanding! We had the September Roll and the JoJo Roll. Couldn’t be happier with the choice. Distinctly different from each other but both were scrumptious. Highly recommend this place! Ask to be sat in Sophia’s section! Never heard any music from neighboring businesses and the service was extremely fast. We had two appetizers and two rolls and two glasses of wine each and were in and out the door in under an hour.

Bachelorette and large parties BEWARE.

My 16 year old daughter ate there with 5 girlfriends. They were never given a check despite asking for one. EACH one of their meals happened to be $50 that ALREADY included a 20% large party tip which they were not told about and they they were presented with the electronic payment app and paid additional tip !!! One girl paid a 40% tip .

I called the restaurant and the manager told me he couldnt be bothered to deal with this then hung up on me. We are locals and eat downtown all the time and they took advantage of our local kids trying to have a nice evening out.

Pretty DISGUSTING if they treat locals this way I wonder how they treat out of towners !!!!

Made a 945 dinner reservation on resy. Arrived and was told the kitchen closes at 945. No where was that noted. Why even offer a 945 reservation if you’re not going to honor it when they arrive. Maybe make your last reservation for 930 so you don’t run into this again. I’ve been coming here for years and will not be back.

Decided to check out a sushi spot while we were in town even though we’re from Florida and get fresh sushi all the time.

This place did not disappoint.

Super original menu with a lot of tempting options — huge portions and super fresh.

As for the location itself, I highly recommend reservations. We popped in late on a Sunday and they were slammed — take out was taking 2+ hours they said and the wait would be over an hour. We were encouraged to check upstairs and see if there was a spot available and we squeezed in at the bar. Ambiance probably would’ve been great normally but the bar/club next door was doing a happy hour party or something and it was super loud + the music at FUJI trying to compete was a train wreck. Wouldn’t recommend for a date spot necessarily but was worth it for the sushi!

Wish we were local so I could come back and try the ramen. Hard to find good ramen by us.

Came to dinner with a friend. I’m gluten free due to a severe intolerance and was pleased that they were so accommodating. I ordered and was assured that the sushi would be gluten free and that it was as simple as removing ingredients (for example, no sauce on my double spicy tuna roll.) I get my rolls and they are bland — for example the spicy tuna had no spice; perhaps it’s in the sauce? My friend enjoyed hers and the fish is fresh.

Was disappointed about the blandness tho, and further disappointed with a $2 surcharge for each gluten free roll. I was not informed of that before the bill came, and why would I be charged when I was told they used less ingredients? I didn’t say anything since I was tired and with a friend, and paid.

I really appreciate staff and chefs accommodating my dietary restraints but wish it was more flavorful and wonder why the charge.

Restaurant should be absolutely embarrassed, what a complete disgrace. Food took 2 hours (zero exaggeration) to get to the table and the manager could not have cared, barely taking anything off of the bill. Do not come here with a large party. Really I’d say do not come here at all. Waitress was nice though, not her fault.

Sushi was fantastic! If sushi bar was an option for seating we definitely would have chosen that, but it wasn't.

Service was terrible. Austin, the bartender had 2 tables and 2 bar patrons and spent a majority of the time talking to the manager about his paycheck. We were never given menus, I had to get some from a dirty table. As a bartender myself, it was appalling. Our bill was $16.65, we paid with a $20 bill and he gave us $2 change. When I said it wasn't the correct amount of change he took money out of his pocket and gave me one more dollar and told me he just rounded up to $17 but forgot to give me the extra dollar. It's not a lot of money, but don't steal from people.

Sushi is not good. Most of the menu is tempura. For the rolls that aren’t tempura, the fish is all mashed / ground up fish rather than fresh slices of fish. A lot of mush. Very expensive for the quality.

The main reason for a 2 is that it took 45 minutes to get our food without warning. We ordered three appetizers, a couple sushi rolls, a poke and an udon. Nothing come out for 25 minutes and then we got one appetizer. Another 20 minutes for us to get everything all at once. The edamame has no taste. The poke bowl was mehh. The other food was good.

For reference, we went Sunday night around 7pm. The restaurant was around half full but probably 20 to go orders got filled while we were there.

Nobody told us there would be a long wait and we could see the tables next to us losing their minds too while waiting 30+ minutes for appetizers.

It was a chill environment. What I expect on King Street. Earlier in the evening so wasn't a crazy Crowd. I thought it was a bit price. Especially when I can get the same thing 15 minutes away for $20.but the environment gave an upscale appeal.and hostess were nice.drinks were very tasty!.I had the Pom something. Food was done to our liking. No complaints there. I had the yakisoba noodles with chicken, it was nice that the chicken wasn't overdone. The misses had stay hibachi. Steak was pretty tasty. Done perfectly.def a spot to visit while in charleston.even if you go to the one in Summerville,there pretty good!oh and the Summerville,SC spot allows dogs on the outside I believe!

Had a great birthday celebration here with my family of six. The service? Awesome! The food? Super awesome! I had the pork belly bao which has the most delicious bun ever! I had a great meal here with my boyfriend when we were in town visiting. We made a reservation online the morning-of and had no trouble getting seated. Our waiter, Jem, was wonderful! They made sure we had a great time and checked in on us the perfect amount. We ordered a good amount of food so it was really nice that they were so patient and warm- Jem had some awesome recommendations. The food and overall vibe were really nice. I plan to come back whenever I am back in Charleston. Thanks Jem for a lovely night!

Ordered food ahead of time yesterday a little before 530 and it said the pickup time would be 5:59. All I ordered was two rolls of sushi and a ramen bowl. Showed up at 6 and was told it would take two minutes. 45 minutes later I had asked several times to check on my order the server/host would say they would do so and they would never come back to tell me what was going on. I was just about to ask for a refund and go somewhere else when the food finally came out. Don’t know why you have a pickup time if it’s gonna take 45 minutes longer I would have been happy to come pick it up at that time but just waiting around was ridiculous especially for such a simple order

I had Jem as a server, and they made the Fuji experience a solid 12 out of 10. They were very tentative, kind, and one of the hardest workers I have ever seen! My food came out fast, and tasted phenomenal. Whenever I go back, I will be asking for Jem and am excited for the amazing food.

A group of us went to get late lunch /early dinner recently and had a great experience ! Food was yummy and our server Courtney was super sweet and polite. And the best part is she smiled. It’s hard to find a server or waitress for that matter that smiles that makes you feel like you aren’t a bother to them anymore. We enjoyed the conversation with her as we had family with us that are new to the area and she made us all feel very welcome there. We will be back again for sure and we may even ask if she can be our server again.

Abysmal. Our dining experience started off with waiting for the server to greet us for about 30 minutes. Next, it took another 20 minutes to finally get a glass of water and to finally order a drink. We were seated right next to the bar (party of 5), where not a single heater worked. The bartender was running behind the bar freaking out because the soda guns did not work and he was loosing it over the fact that he could not change the channel on TV. A lot of guests at the bar had displeased looks on their faces, which should have been an indication of what we should have expected next. After we ordered, apps arrived promptly. Main course took a bit longer. Apps were outstanding, main course was above average. Overall, the presentation was great as well, but we had no server around to explain what we were served. We were left guessing what was the chef’s choice of fish and what were the rolls. It was virtually impossible to get a second/third round of drinks. Unfortunately, never got any water refilled on the table either. Our server and the bartended seemed to be too busy chatting at the wait station(closet?) as we sat with the pile of dirty dishes and empty glasses in front of us. I guess the staff does not know how to work in the team as bartender blatantly was ignoring us while texting behind the bar in front of other guests shortly after our own server decided to walk past us for the 6th time and disappear again without stopping by the table. She finally came back with a bill that had an error - double ring, which she promised would be taken care of. Then, she came back saying that she was not able to take it off since we ate the plate (dirty dish pile still in front of us, no water, no drinks). The explanation arguably made sense: we sure did eat the nigiri as we did not want to waste food that we thought(!) we ordered. Not as if we were given any alternative or saw our server when the food was dropped. Conveniently, she turned up only when we finished. The manager had no decency of touching the table to address this. The poor service or lack thereof ruined the night. This place is quite small, so I have no idea how the staff got weed out of their minds here. Obviously, whoever is managing this place is incompetent and has no idea what Southern hospitality is. Even though the food is pretty good, I will avoid this restaurant at all costs. There are plenty of alternatives with lesser prices and much more elevated service than this.

Sushi was pretty good, mid-level sushi good, but the service was lacking. The server assured me that the crab meat is used here instead of fake crab which was a lie! I saw sushi chefs unpacking fake-crab sticks from their plastic wraps with my own eyes.

I asked to remove avocado in my two rolls and add cream cheese instead for which other restaurants usually don't charge but this server decided to charge me $1 per roll, yet he didn't give me any cream cheese. I had to ask for it again and he said that it would be on the side, without any apologies. He brought a very thin, short tube of cream cheese that would be enough for a half of one roll.

We were excited to dine here. It’s my 16 year old son’s birthday weekend and he wanted Ramen Noodles. I saw the reviews for this place and decided to take him. We got there after 12:30pm today. They’re out of ramen. 😑Fine, we’ll order something else. They were out of the rose’ I wanted… fine… had a different one. The wait for our food was over an hour. Food came out warm. I said no rice, still got rice. Ok… got check and they charge me for extra vegetables. 😑My plate did not have extra vegetables. Anyway, the experience was unfortunate. We will not dine here again.

Sushi was great, unique choices and delocious desserts. Staff was friendly and quick. Had a little trouble with order but it was fixed right away and professionally. Definitely would eat here again. Green tea ice cream was really good and the seaweed salad some of the best I've had. Big portions on all the food. Even the mochi pieces are quite large.

Food is solid. Staff isn't the most diverse which isn't an issue until you realize they're trying to convince you it's an hr wait for no reason. The second floor was almost empty. It was 6:30 pm. They usually get really busy after 7:30. Maybe a good experience for a privileged college kid. Not for anybody else who doesn't fit the typical mold

We walked in on a Friday night and got rooftop seating (thankfully by the fan). Kitchen was a little backed up but the waitress was extremely attentive. Edamame was under seasoned and texturally off, perhaps overcooked. But the sushi was fantastic!

The good? The sushi fortunately. The less than good? Parking for one, which understandably in a downtown area is tough, but very difficult particularly with unhoused persons weaving in and out of traffic.
Also…the order was not ready when we arrived, despite the fact that it was ordered well ahead of time.
So, as a sushi option the quality is good (not excellent) but there were enough negatives that we’ll try elsewhere before we come back.

We ordered the Bomb Shrimp to start which was really good and quite different than I imagined. I was thinking deep fried shrimp tossed in a buffalo sauce. That's not it. The shrimp were fried and there was a slightly spicy sauce poured over it. I ordered the salmon roll and the Double Tuna Roll. They did but disappoint and the rolls were pretty large on size compared to what I normally see other places. My husband got the steak rice bowl and was pleased. I also tried the PAMA margarita and it was perfect. I'd love to come back and try some more.

Had an absolutely amazing experience tonight! My bartender, Porter, was very helpful with suggestions and couldn’t be any nicer. We started with the pan fried Gyoza and then finished with the spicy salmon rolls. To drink, he recommended the chocolate martini, and then we spiced things up with a Sake bombs!! The best happy hour experience ever!! Highly recommend!! Thanks porter!!!

Oh my goodness we arrived 10 min before they opened, with the door opened, we were told to stand outside and wait.
Then another group of 4 walked in and were then taken upstairs and seated. We walked in and no one acknowledged us. The hostess looked at us and said nothing. My wife said excuse me 4 times to get the attention of the hostess to ask for the manager.
The manager was no help and ask to speak with the owner, the manager said he doesn’t speak English only Mandarin, my wife said great she speaks Mandarin, the manager then stated he doesn’t want to speak to people.
What a horrible experience.
I know Trip Advisor nor google cares’ but I know the world does care to know.
