Kura Sushi USA, Inc., is an innovative and tech interactive Japanese restaurant concept established in 2008 as a subsidiary of Kura Sushi, Inc. As pioneers of the revolving sushi concept, the Kura family of companies have improved upon the developed innovative systems that combine advanced technology, premium ingredients, and affordable prices to enhance the unique dining experience. Since the first restaurant opening in 1977, Kura Sushi, Inc. has grown substantially with more than 500 locations across Japan, Taiwan and the United States. Our philosophy of “muten” or “nothing added” is an ongoing promise that our food is prepared using fresh, high quality ingredients free of artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives and colorings.
I had never been to a revolving sushi place in my life before this, so this was a cool experience for me! The food was incredible and filled us up for cheap. The small portions of sushi make it easy for you to try everything.
The service was super fast and accommodating. A cute little robot serves you drinks. There are gachapon machines with One Piece themed figures, and they also have One Piece themed food. Everything was really good!

Really fun food experience! Tasted much better than I expected too. Expensive ($3.80 per plate / with 2-4 sushi a plate) but it was a lot of fun and pretty unique for Pittsburgh. The food comes out super fast and it's always a blast seeing what's gonna come down the conveyer belt next 😁 🍣

This place is a fun revolving sushi bar spot! We went on a Friday at 7 PM, and the wait was about 20 minutes for 2 people. The sushi is decent, though there are better sushi spots in Pittsburgh. Love that they switch up the menu based on popularity, and the screen for extra orders plus the serving robot are cool touches. Worth trying for the experience!

Concept is great, execution is awful. We signed in and were told the wait would be 0-10 minutes. It was 35 minutes before we got a text, and we waited another 20 minutes to be actually seated after they said our table was ready. They said they were short staffed, which I’m very sympathetic to, but there were seven (or more) open and bussed tables. After we were finally seated, the conveyor belt ran for about 15 minutes before a single plate of food made its rounds. Once food started coming, it was only edamame and watermelon for about 10 minutes before any sushi started coming, and even then it was only three types of nigiri that came through. For our whole visit, not a single hand roll was passed on the belt. We had to order anything we wanted on the iPad, which was the only way we were ever actually able to get any food. And turns out, there’s a limit on the orders you can make while you still have outstanding orders. Oh, and there were no napkins at our table or a place to dispose of garbage that isn’t the designated plates that can fit through the counting slot. I will say though that everything we received was delicious.
For the price of a restaurant like this, we were quite disappointed. I understand that staffing is a problem, but this experience was unacceptable. I hope they iron out their kinks soon because I’d love to come back when the service is improved.

We stopped by Kura while visiting from out of town and were excited to try out the conveyor belt sushi experience. The concept seemed cool with a huge conveyor belt running through the restaurant with various plates of sushi. Unfortunately, there were very few options for us to choose from on the belt. The attached video of empty plates sums up our whole experience.
The only way we managed to get any sushi was by ordering from a touch screen, but we soon found out that there was a limit to how many items we could order at once. This limitation, combined with the lack of sushi on the conveyor belt, made for a disappointing experience.
We had to wait an hour to be seated, and it was not worth the wait. One of the items we ordered on the screen never came. After checking on it twice within an hour, they eventually gave us a dish of free mochi and canceled the order.
While the concept is interesting, the execution was lacking. They need more staff preparing sushi for the belt to ensure a steady supply of options. Overall, it was underwhelming to say the least.

The concept at Kura Revolving Sushi is undeniably cool and has a lot of potential, but it falls short in execution due to poor management and staffing issues.
The restaurant seems severely understaffed, leading to long waits for seating and service. Despite the revolving sushi concept, many plates were empty, and food took an unreasonably long time to come out. Most of the 3.5 hours I spent here were wasted waiting for food and drinks, as nearly everything had to be ordered through the screen rather than being readily available on the conveyor belt.
Additionally, the service was disappointing. Brittany, a staff member, was unfriendly and lacked effective communication, which only added to the frustration.
With better management and staffing improvements, Kura could truly shine, but as it stands, the experience is more frustrating than enjoyable. Hopefully, they make changes soon because the concept deserves better execution.

We’ve eaten at Kura a few times and I really like it. Their sushi may not be the best in town, but they are made with fresh ingredients. The place is clean, well maintained, and fun. Staff are friendly. I don’t know about weekends but we were seated immediately during the weekday lunch hour.

The atmosphere it really cool.
But very over priced ! Most Sushi is sold per one or two pieces
Not a full roll .The sushi is on a conveyor belt that continues to circle the tables through out the restaurant.
Most looked old and dried out . Raw fish should be keep chilled . You can order from the kitchen which I would recommend.
It's a cool trend in Japan . But this restaurant isn't for me.

Went here after having not gone for some months and left very disappointed. Atmosphere is nice, service is good (considering we had no interaction after being sat down and drinks are served on a robot which is cool) but the food was worse than meh. Almost everything was bland and unimaginative and the miso soup was so salty and fishy and unappetizing it was inedible. Kura is fun as a concept and it was good the first couples times we went but quality has bottomed out while prices have only gone up.

Me: “I accidentally ordered a plate just now. Can I change it before it is delivered?”
Waiter: “No, I got into trouble for doing this last time.”
Me: Shrugged.
Waiter: “Do you want me to cancel it?”
Me: “So I can cancel it?”
Waiter: “No, you can’t. I can.”
This waiter could just tell me that he can cancel the order, and I can place another one.
If he has trauma with his employer, I’d suggest he stay at home instead of being here, struggling to be polite and use his brain.
P.S. Most portions of food are half the size they were when the restaurant first opened.

Food is great. Love the different sushi options and being able to try new things.
There are 2 major issues though. The belt is almost always empty. They need to make sure the sushi on the belt is actually stocked so people don’t have to constantly order off the screen. Also, the service is pretty bad. They are slow, inattentive, they don’t clear trash off your table while eating so you get stuck having napkins, straw papers, empty cups, etc on the table. They always seem to have a bad attitude as well.

Went here back when they opened, out of state staff helping to launch the restaurant were *killing* it. Went back a few times, fiancée and I love it here. It steadily went down hill. This last time we waited for 30-40 minutes, there was *one* staff member for front of house, doing her absolute best but struggling. The second another staff member showed up it immediately went smoother but this poor girl wasn't able to go to the bathroom with how busy it was. You guys *have* to hire more people, you have to be nicer to your employees, and you have to respect a brand that's proud of itself but this was not the showing it should have been. We'll be back cuz we do love the sushi, but for the love of God Management needs to make changes to their scheduling or people will stop coming. Don't let this become a regular thing y'all, it's a great time otherwise. Highly recommended normally, but until the Management gives more shits about their staff members, I would say avoid it.

Henlo,
We came here about a month ago or so.
EXQUISITE!
The food? EXQUISITE! A reasonably priced way to enjoy a wide array of quality Sushi and other delectable foods!
The service? EXQUISITE! Our server Bella was very friendly and even helped save our night by finding my wallet and returning it. Her friendly, compassionate service; combo'd with the incredible food is UNMATCHED!
I look forward to returning here monthly for more enjoyable experiences. 🥰

This was my second time dining here, and we are very disappointed. The only way to get ANY food is to order from the touch screen. I love the concept of a conveyor sushi restaurant, but you have to actually put sushi on the conveyor belt for that to work. 100 dollars for this visit, I wish we would have gone elsewhere.

Was an interesting experience but honestly a bit sub par. Not a personable experience which I get and we went to check it out anyway but man do I prefer tipping actual servers. There was no service to tip and they ask you to tip anyway. Robots and conveyer belts bring you everything. The sashimi and roll pieces looked great no complaints there 👌 Got a shoyen ramen bowl and the pork was tough to eat, not verh flavorful. Got a california roll and there was no cucumber in it, just a crab paste and avacado. Charged $6.10 for 2 iced mochis (a dessert you can buy at aldi in maybe a 12pk for cheap) The staff sent to us did not understand english and was having a really hard time helping us. There are no sauce options for the rolls. No spicy mayo and no teriyaki. You can't even order it. You only get soy sauce. I am used to getting full rolls from the local japanese steak houses and they are way better tasting than what I got here. Also the womens bathrooms have bidet toilets which I was kinda excited about being as Ive never seen one or tested one out. The one I picked was broken but I didnt know any better so I went ahead, no big deal, regular toilet experience?? Wait what? Feeling left out I checked the right side toilet. It had lights on the seat and a remote!! So I checked the left side toilet. It saw me, friggin opened up, cleaned itself and flashed its lights at me and played a tune. I should have picked the left toilet. As I had already gone to the bathroom I had now missed out on my free bidet experience and am bummed since I wont be coming back for the food. Make sure you have the best toilet before you go 🫡

When ordering the miso soup they both came out cold
No sriracha?
Cold fish on warm rice…
Waited 30 mins for spicy mayo and it was not as expected.
Fish tasted different, I finished dinner around 9pm and my stomach still hasn’t settled.

Fun and exciting experience! Just what southside needed. Located in a great area right next to the Cheesecake Factory in southside works. The sushi was okay, there wasn’t much on the sushi belt, everything needed to be ordered on the screen. Which that is okay because it seemed to be fresher. The price definitely adds up it was about $4 every small plate. I would go back just because it was fun not for the actual sushi. The mochi was good though.

We've been to multiple Kura locations and it's always fun. Good sushi, good selection, the staff is very friendly, and the additional order options come quickly. There was a slight mistake when I ordered my kitsune udon - I think they sent the wrong bowl - but it was retrieved and corrected before I could even get it off the line. Lol The drink robot always makes us smile too.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. A manager come up to me and my family and accused us of stealing food off the special order belt, which we had not, we only took food we ordered that stopped at our table. He was making a very big scene and it was very embarrassing for us, we cancelled any other food we ordered and left. We have been to Kura Pittsburgh a number of times and know how it works, it was like being told off by the principal.
Total disgrace.

Bad customer service and the computer pads weren’t working. The hostess was rude and unprofessional. Also, no food on the conveyor belt and the food needed to be ordered to the manager. It defeats the purpose of going to a revolving sushi.

Came for my mother’s birthday. Terribly rude and inattentive workers in the front. Jevon was particularly disinterested in serving us. Our party was forgotten about and our order neglected despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Food ranged from mediocre to awful. Really disappointed. Loved this place when it opened. Went today to bring someone out of town and ranted and raved about it to her. When we got there, there was NOTHING on the conveyer. Nothing. We watched for 25 minutes or so and nothing came out. Other tables started talking to us saying it was ridiculous and they were leaving. I was so excited to show my visitor that we stayed but I kept apologizing. We ended up ordering from the screen but that's not the appeal of "revolving sushi". We asked a server what was up and they said they were understaffed. I can empathize with the staff who were there, but I'm not sure there was more than one as nothing was coming from the kitchen except slow-moving screen orders. Management has screwed up. Not sure I'll be back again, and I was a happy frequent customer. Disappointing experience.

I wasted $40 here. I never write reviews but just really upset about my experience here. Ordered a ramen and it came out cold and flavorless. We politely asked someone if we could send it back since it was literally cold the moment it came out and she said “yeah one sec” but she never came back. I thought she forgot so I pressed the recall button 10 minutes later and she still never came so ultimately we gave up. The sushi was so bad, they call it “salmon roll” but the salmon on it was like the size of a fingernail, I wouldn’t even call that salmon, it was the worst I’ve ever had. The only good thing about this experience was the hostess, don’t know her name but she wore glasses. She was super nice and pleasant. Overall so disappointed and sad with this experience. We ran over and got pizza after this because we didn’t even eat enough.

Always a great experience! I went in a group of six which seems to be close to the largest party they can accommodate. There was a robot that brought you drinks. You could order specific menu items that zoomed right to your table but we mostly claimed dishes as they passed on the conveyor belt. We were at the last table and still plenty of food came by. For every 15 dishes purchased you received a free toy. It was all very exciting and the food was very good. There was a very long wait to get a table but there is a very fun establishment next door.

I was excited to take my daughter as I had just been at a revolving sushi place in LA (mom and pop place): Staff was welcoming and explained how it worked. It is fun to see the dishes come around and the robot / menu is easy to use. My chief complaint is we were there on a Saturday evening, early, and still they were out of several types sashimi - at least 5 or 6 - and those couldn’t be ordered. And then the revolving thing often has empty dishes, which left me less than impressed. I guess I could understand if it was a Sunday evening or Monday after a busy weekend but this was 6pm on a Saturday. We also tried tempura chicken and shrimp, which was quite salty. And it wasn’t cheap. Not sure I’d try again.

Personally, I think this is probably the best sushi place in Pittsburgh that isn't in the high tier sushi category.
Yes, it's a gigantic chain, but it's the only Japanese owned sushi restaurant other than Sushi Tomo in the North Hills.
It's better than a lot of "basic" sushi places in Pittsburgh. The rice and fish portions are just about right. The rice is pretty much perfect. The wasabi here is mostly real, which only the top tier sushi places in Pittsburgh will have.
If you're smart, the per plate pricing model is cheap. What gets you though is that there's so many AYCE sushi places in Pittsburgh that everyone here is likely to overspend and overeat.
If you're not a sushi fan, they probably have the best non-sushi Japanese food in Pittsburgh. They have the best ramen in Pittsburgh here. The tempura menu is simply impressive. Their udon and gyudon are amazing. They definitely have the best takoyaki here. The taiyaki is so clearly the best here it's not even close. All the desserts are just completely amazing. It's just amazing.
One thing to note is that the fish is not as fresh as the upper echelon of Pittsburgh sushi restaurants. In fact, the California Kura Sushi's are fresher (expected... since they're on the coast). The borderline delicacy sushi such as uni tastes foul and the bluefin tuna, if available, while still amazing, tastes slightly fishy. However, Kura still has fresher sushi than most other Pittsburgh non top-tier sushi restaurants.
The atmosphere is amazing, and it is a must go experience, at least once if possible. Definitely the best non-sushi Japanese food here. Sushi is better than most, but it's not top tier sushi.

You get the freedom to pick from the belt or order from the tablet! And the sushi are very tasty! Suggested items: Yuze Salmon, spicy tuna hand roll, philadelphia roll, seard salmon with cream cheese, and takoyaki are some of my favorite! The cat waiter is pretty cute too! Will definitely come back!

The service was super fast and accommodating. A cute little robot serves you drinks. There are gachapon machines with One Piece themed figures, and they also have One Piece themed food. Everything was really good!

Delicious food, fast service, iconic music-playing, drink-serving robots. What more could you ask for?

Love coming here for a unique and delicious dining experience!

Robot drink delivery, automated sushi delivery, <4$ per plate of 2-3 sushi pieces, what more needs to be said? The hot sake was a nice addition.

came here for a late lunch with my roomies and it was so fun! can be as cheap or expensive as you want but i think an average of $24 is fair for all the options. the drink delivering robot was absolutely the cutest part. overall 10/10!!

Always have a great time here. It’s a spot that gets busier around dinner but it’s well worth the wait.

Concept is cool, service is bare minimum. 80% of the rotation of food options were empty and not replenished. Quality of food was ok, but you're paying for the concept more than the food.

We’ve eaten at Kura a few times and I really like it. Their sushi may not be the best in town, but they are made with fresh ingredients. The place is clean, well maintained, and fun. Staff are friendly. I don’t know about weekends but we were seated immediately during the weekday lunch hour.

Kura is such a fun place to go! The way the conveyor works is simple and straightforward, and it's nice to be able to order things if you want them on demand. The only downside is that the staff response is slightly slow, nevertheless it doesn't take away from the experience. Always my go to if I'm in the area

What a fun and unique dining experience! We loved the drink robot and the conveyor belt orders. We also loved the ability to order specific rolls off of the touchscreen menu. The quality of sushi, udon, ramen, and desserts were AMAZING. We enjoyed every minute! We will be back again and again!

We loved our experience. Great food & servers were sweet and helpful! Just be careful, those plates add up quick!

This was the 1st time I was ever there and have to say it was an experience. Your food that you order comes down a belt and you can pick the food you would like by taking a plate off of the bottom belt. The best part is your drinks are brought to you by a robot.

It’s a really nice concept, but the ordering system is pretty confusing for a first-time user, and our server did not explain the system very well. The food is only okay for the price and the service is apathetic. Not many veggie options in the rolls, and none of the hot food could be made vegetarian.

The concept is cool. We went around dinner time on a Monday evening and there was a 10-15 minute wait. It was clearly a busy time for them and there were not many items on the conveyor belt available. We did have to order a lot through the machine at the table. Everything we had was delicious and the food came out pretty quick considering how busy it was. You put your finished plates in a slot on the table and it counts and you get a prize once you hit 10. A robot brings your initial drinks for you, the server gets your refills. I enjoyed the experience overall, it would've been nice if there were more sushi items on the conveyor belt. I recommend going at a slower time in the day for the full experience. Also since it's in the South Side you have to find street parking or park in one of the garages. There were a few vegetaian options available as well.

Cool restaurant. Food comes on a carousel and you pick what you want off the belt as it goes by.Or order on the app at your table and it comes on a conveyor and stops when it gets to you. Really delicious and fresh food!.

Food was mediocre at best, plus the sushi belts themselves had very little to offer.

Great experience! Food was good but if you're a true sushi lover, this will not be your favorite sushi. Very cool and so glad we went. Great technology and concept and we had fun!

The gamification of food is wild. New experience. The variety and options are cool.
The robot that serves drinks is so stupid especially while there are staff milling about doing nothing. I can see it being an attraction for kids and giving a vibe but it sucks so bad waiting.
The plate collection and capsule drop are really fun.
The price is fine, though we mostly stuck to plates. Can't say anything Re the to-order entree options.

This review is the culmination of our last 5+ visits to Kura. This place is simply a novelty, worth going once for the experience but it’s important to note that it’s incredibly inconsistent. The food is good but service is below average. Our most recent visit we found the conveyor to be completely empty with no explanation. Other diners around us told us that the belt had been empty and individual plates ordered were very slow. Unfortunately, Kura repeatedly fails to deliver.

We sat for 10 minutes and every single slot on the conveyor belt was empty? Not a single plate available to pick up, everything had to be ordered for the screen. No one made us aware of this before we sat down. It was so incredibly slow to even get something ordered. We ordered a plate and had to wait an additional 10 minutes for our next plate of 2 pieces of nigiri to come. This is not the first time we’ve had this experience, do not recommend.

I have no idea how this place has a 4 star rating, even if 60 percent of the reviews are bots or paid off. This is seriously some of the worst food I've ever had, to the point it actually made me and my fiance sick. The rice tastes like it's got soured milk mixed in it, all of the fish tastes old and murky...I really don't think I have a single good thing to say other than the Pepsi tasted kinda like Pepsi. This is gross, do not waste your money here. You're better off going to Arby's after suffering a near fatal gunshot wound.

A fantastic conveyor belt sushi joint. Sushi is great, but also try their beef udon soup. Delectable!!!

The sushi was okay, not as fresh as sushi bomb. It wasn't that busy, but the plates were empty most of the time so it took a while to get food. Never got refills and never got the little bonus ball for 20 plates :(
We're still waiting for a server to check us out. Might take all night...

Honestly always such a fun time and the food is so different and innovative. I love that the menu is constantly changing so you can try lots of new things. I have ordered take out, delivery, and from the belt and it’s always super fresh!

Overpriced, pretty good food, horrible service, cute gimmic.
At least give me a free plate at 15, no one wants these garbage bubble gum machine garbage prizes.
