Came here while I was in town in Philly with one of my best friends after seeing a Instagram reel! The atmosphere of the place has a really cute vibe (the aesthetics are 10/10)! The women at the stand were very personable and accommodated us wanting to sit in one of the “pod” seating along the wall!
We got the crab fried rice which was delicious! However, the drinks were a little disappointing.

I really enjoy Pod! We've gone twice now and we've really enjoyed our meals and time spent. For food I highly recommend the crab croquettes, chicken wings, crab fried rice, tuna nachos, just to name a few!
The staff is pleasant, laid back, and politely and swiftly remedies any issues. All in all, I'd highly recommend. Wish I had taken more photos but was too busy eating!

If you're in the Universities Hills area, I highly recommend checking this place out. Everything we got was excellent. Sushi, multiple salads, fried chicken, ramen, and the dessert. I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you get, and honestly about the prettiest plating you'll ever see. Everything that came out of that kitchen was gorgeous, and I found myself looking at what other people were getting just to see it as well.
I've worked in the service industry for over a decade now and the service was excellent as well. We were there during the week, so I can't speak for weekends. Only issue I had was not getting soy sauce with my sushi and used sauce from a salad. Not one to complain over a small mistake, but the server noticed without me saying anything and comped a drink for me. Recognizing and correcting a mistake without being told is very impressive to me. Had a problem table behind us that the manager seemed to be having a ball with, so I told him we were having a great experience. He was very friendly and talked with us at the table and before leaving again. I know that's not for everyone, but it makes me feel much more appreciated and want to go back again. Unfortunately I forget their names to praise them on here, but thank you for making our dining experience one of the best ones I've ever had.

This is a perfect place for drinks/ friends gathering, because they have great atmosphere and excellent service! As we know it’s a Korean fusion but they don’t have so much options on the menu and the prices are slightly high. The urchins tasted bitter and I expected high quality due to that price. The beef tartare and seafood(crab) pancakes were very salty which we could not finished. A small bowl of white rice was $5 😳 the fries was among the “best” compared to other dishes. But overall, we enjoyed the meal because the service was excellent!

Pretty good sushi but also a little overpriced. Server is OK.
Service can be slow when they're busy... ordered two appetizers and entree, and whenever food would come out, the server would look at me as if he was confirming my order... when it came to the entree, he forgot the dish and instead of apologizing pretended he was waiting for it to come out.
Aside from that the food is usually good and it's a nice place to go

Great food, but smaller portions. Great service, but you have to be a party of 6 or more to do the dining rooms with the lights. I thought I was reserving one of those rooms on the website, but apparently you can try to make a special request weeks in advance? :(
I’m gonna come back with a party so I can do that room.
Also the fried chicken comes in a whole kfc style bucket, which was a bit too theatrical for me lol.

The service and the food are highly recommended. They have a very large menu that is varied, including vegetarian dishes, Asian dishes, and seafood dishes. What was especially good was the sushi.
There is an extremely competent Cook in the kitchen, as well as being very creative. I highly recommend it.

Attended a celebratory group dinner with a party of 11. It was a pre-fix menu and served family style. Not only were the food portions abundant, but it was very delicious tasting as well. Service was excellent, as you could see that the wait staff all worked together. Our main server was pleasant, attentive, and always had a smile, which definitely added to the positive dining experience. I guess the only criticism, if anything, would be the ambiance and decor. It does not match the vibe of the food, which was outstanding. I would say in more detail that the lighting was just a bit too dark, and aesthetically, the entire venue felt sterile. It was definitely great for a date night as there were several couples enjoying the two-seater nooks against the wall, and if you're lucky enough to snag a pod, I'm sure this would elevate your experience. On a side note, the bathrooms are super cool and resemble that of being on an aircraft. So go grab your bff and enjoy a wonderful meal with great service!

E is a cut above any typical server you’ll find in Philadelphia. He’s kind, courteous, polite and very attentive to all of his guests.
His attitude makes you wanna stay and order more. He’s excited to serve his guests and to be apart of the team. When it comes to Saturday night date nights, E makes it an easy decision; we’re going to POD.
Doesn’t hurt the food is absolutely divine every time we dine here.

Pod is back! If you enjoyed Pod in the past then you’ll love this updated version in the same place in University City. The decor is updated but the service is as great as you may recall in the past. The menu is diverse although of course on a Japanese-fusion theme ranging from sushi/sashimi to noodles and rice to fuller entrees. Do try the desserts too! Definitely recommended for a visit into the city or if you live nearby - a classic place returns and even better!

I was there with a large group, so they had a multi-course meal for us. 5 different starters, 5 entrees and mochi for dessert. Everything was very good and fresh, the salmon literally melted in my mouth. Sushi was fresh, also really liked the JFC (Japanese fried chicken) and short ribs. The servers were professional and did a great job.

It was a good sushi place. They had a variety of options which was exciting. I had the mochi potato balls and the chef's choice of fish. They were both good! I definitely think the chef's choice is worth the cost.
Visited 7 months ago
The food was pretty good, but nothing amazing. As expected with higher end places, the portions weren’t very big and it was somewhat pricey. The decor and tables and chairs felt almost like a cafeteria. Also, the servers’ uniforms were odd - sweatpants and a tshirt tucked into tied waistband pants…not the most flattering look and odd for a nicer restaurant.
Visited 7 months ago
I didn’t dine in , but the space looks beautiful and staff awesome. I ordered ramen for takeout, but it doesn’t seem to be the main focus of the menu. It was okay. The tiger prawns and wasabi fried rice were also okay. All ingredients were super fresh but not as much flavor as I expected overall.
Visited 7 months ago
The best dining out experience I’ve had in a long time. I have severe food allergies so eating out can be stressful, but I was able to relax because they have a very comprehensive allergy menu with a key that denotes whether an item contains an allergen, has cross-contamination, or can be modified. The food incredible and so delicious. 10/10 recommend the Tokyo potatoes, they are unlike anything we’d eaten before. The waitstaff and kitchen was very kind and accommodating and made us feel very special and took great care of us. We will be returning!!

This was a great light lunch! The inside is super cute. Very spacious but also extremely cozy all in one. The food is A1! The rolls are such a nice size. The server Kayla not only beautiful but she was great! The manager I believe is name is Drew was socializing with another table causally. We waited for about 4 minutes standing at the hostess stand without realizing they close at 3 before opening for dinner. It was about 2:40 as we stood there while we watched him chat with another table without a peep before he acknowledged us. He was very nice but the reason this isn’t a 5 is because he could have at least said something to us while we stood starting to wonder what to do. As we are leaving he also didn’t say a word to us. All very interesting being he’s a manager. I wonder how many other patrons have had an experience and didn’t say anything or it would not go anywhere because he’s the manager lol. Great food! Great ambiance! Great server service!

Portions are small and food is ok (we had the crab fried rice and tuna tataki). We didn’t drink but they seem to have an extensive drink menu so maybe there is more to offer cocktail-wise. I liked the atmosphere and the service was good. Glad we tried it out, but wouldn’t return.

This restaurant seems like it could be good. However, my girlfriend and I were sat along the wall (table of 2). There wasn’t much room there and you’re sat literally beside a tiled wall. I felt like I was eating in a small restroom.
The service was nice but that doesn’t make up for the mid food. Nothing was bad, but considering Pod dresses itself up as a more proper restaurant, you’d hope the food matches. Unfortunately there was nothing special about it. Ordered the rainbow rolls, curry udon, BBQ, and crab croquettes. If you’ve ever had those items anywhere before, you’ll probably have tasted the equivalent of Pod food before, if not better.
My favourite thing was the strawberry dessert (pictured), but I’m not going to recommend a restaurant for a dessert.

Wonderfully priced extended happy hour (sadly they discontinued the burger) at the bar and sushi bar. JFC Karaage is a can't miss happy hour dish as is the Tokyo Potatoes. It's obvious Pod's deep fryer oil is clean. Level of service and food you'd expect from a Starr joint. One of the best happy hours.
Visited 10 months ago
Still remembering how genuinely our server kept a smile! Crab California roll was fresh but bland. Rock Shrimp was the best dish we had. Miso Sea Bass was cooked perfectly! JFC was tasty and crisp. Strawberry dessert was bland and small.

As a raving fan of the Starr restaurants I was so excited to finally get the chance to try Pod last Saturday (3/9)
The ambiance was amazing and the host staff was welcoming, but our dinner experience quickly took a turn for the worse. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar and were immediately met with an inappropriate remark about the cut of my friends top from the bartender with the glasses. We also overheard him talking about women with other male servers near the end of the bar and it made us extremely uncomfortable.
He kept hitting on my friend and throughout the night and kept trying to offer drinks on the house. He sent us desert at the end of our dinner. We were so confused and said that we didn’t want to accept it because we didn’t want to pay for it and he said not to worry, it was on the house and that if we gave him our numbers he’d buy us drinks after. The lack of professionalism had us so shocked. We will not be back, there are many other places in ucity that can provide the same quality of meal with much less sleaze.

I’m still angry at how small the portions are. The mocktail is $9 and they give you a small, half-full glass. The spaghetti is surprisingly good but still leaves you hungry after. Even the soy sauce dispenser was half-full and had enough sauce for 1 person. The waiters are overbearing and made us uncomfortable, we felt rushed and our waters were only filled half-full. Seriously, what is the obsession with giving you as little sustenance as possible? Food was solid, but I would never recommend coming here unless you want to be unsatisfied at the end.

This is a fantastic place to go out for dinner. It’s on the expensive side because each dish is not too large. They are about 10-20 but in the size of an appetizer.

Absolutely delicious food! It's a Japanese tapas style restaurant, so the plates are small. I'd suggest probably 4 plates for 2 people.
We had an issue not recieving our seabass roll timely. They apologized and comped the roll and made it right. Even late, it was still delicious! Wait staff was very nice and atmosphere was fantastic. On a Saturday night, we didn't have any trouble getting a high top for 2 without a reservation, though the place was very busy. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Philly!

Food and ambiance were to notch. Really, it some of the best sushi I've had since coming back from Japan. The waiter was overly attentive in an intrusive way and spoke really fast so it was a bit hard to catch everything they were saying. The food and ambiance made up for any awkward service and overall it was a magnificent meal in a cool futuristic restaurant. Perfect for a post Annenberg meal!

We went to Pod to celebrate our anniversary. We actually picked Pod bc of Chef Yanaga specifically. We love his omakase at the other restaurant and we’re excited to hear he paired up with Stephen Starr. The food was fantastic and the sushi was perfect as expected. I just wished there was like a bigger sushi dinner option. The other food was good too. The Japanese fried chicken was delicious. But our waiter couldn’t explain the concept to us very well. We weren’t sure what to order or how much bc he had a hard time deceiving how big dishes were or like how much food each item was. “Small plates” were big enough for two, others were not. It seemed really inconsistent. The service was a little slow. We wound up getting a dish of fried rice like 20 minutes after we finished everything else. However the bartender the drinks were great. Front of the house weren’t unfriendly necessarily but they weren’t super warm either. I had put it was for an anniversary in the reservation and they didn’t even mention it. Not a huge deal but kind of a bummer. The vibes just seem off. Like it’s still trying to figure itself out. A little disjointed perhaps. I’d go back but probably just for the sushi.

She was super friendly, spieled the menu highlighting some of the better/more popular items and things she suggested and everything hit the mark. Crab croquettes, 7 fishes, and prawn skewers were some of the favorites amongst the table as well as the cocktails and red wine selections. Definitely will be back!

Our Server was Colin he took great care of us, along with the wait staff that were very attentive. Hats off to Drew who was very engaging and assured we enjoyed our meal. We had some of EVERYTHING: Wagyu, Sushi, Crab Fried Rice, Chicken Thighs Skewers. Braised Short Ribs, and the Sea Bass and all of it was delicious! At first I was bummed because the Crab Spring Rolls and the Lobster Stir Fry was no longer on the menu, however I got over it. This is STILL my favorite restaurant. Can’t wait to go back. Excellent

We have always came to the pod now Kpod. Today was more than likely our last visit. We ordered chicken skewers which were still pink in the inside, which they attribute to the curing process. Then we ordered wings and they came out looking like skewers and not wings. On the menu it’s says wings, why does it say wings and they bring out skewers. Ordered a gin and tonic which tasted like seltzer water. Staff was super nice and accommodating but the food was subpar.

Wonderful experience. I generally stay away from these kinds of places bc i dont know what their menu items are, but my husband made surprise reservations. Alfredo was our server and he perfectly described a few highlights on the menu and new additions right down to their texture. He was even able to magically upsell me an additional plate to my meal. It was the spicey salmon rolls. Ive never had raw salmon but the way he described them i was willing to take the loss if i hated them... i LOVED them and cleared the plate. He truely made a foreign experience feel so welcome and calming for me... will definitely return!

First time here. The chicken wings were good. The kimchi pork stew/broth they serve at lunch was atrocious; it was a sodium bath with no broth to be found. I’d give it another chance and order something else because I seem to be an outlier.

Trendy place, a little overpriced for food quality. But overall worth a visit

A roller coaster experience. Definitely not a true, authentic Korean dinner, it has a funky twist with its atmosphere, decor and menu. The menu seems to be a fusion of multiple cuisines. The fried chicken, was terrible, it was bland and tasted like the old cooking oil it was fried in, no seasoning. The banchan dishes are not free and are charged per plate, which were mediocre at best. The Ssam platter was delicious and wonderful, worth coming back for. The fries were some of the best I’ve had. The hand rolls were hand rolls. Next time, only order the fries and Ssam platter. Maybe a handrollnif you’re still hungry.

Cute place. Friendly staff. The atmosphere is Modern Futuristic. The food was ok. Highlight of the meal was the fried chicken wings. Would definitely come back for that. It was seasoned just right. Very thin crispy coating with juicy moist meat. Drinks were strong which is good. Lychee martini was good. More citrus martini with a hint of lychee. I got their special easter drink, which was a bit too sweet for me. But was still good. Waiter was kind enough to ask if I wanted to take it off the bill which was kind but I refused cause it wasn't that bad. I still drank it all. I had those 2 drinks and I feel a great buzz, kinda drunk. (Lol) For the dessert, I liked the chocolate cake. The whipped cheesecake was ok, the flavors were separated. You got the mint, the creamy cheese, and the raspberry. All the flavors were there, it was distinct. I think it tasted better once you mixed everything together. I topped it off with a spring jasmine tea, which hit the spot. Overall, the experience was nice.

Love this place! Amazing staff, and amazing food! Check out the menu before they change it from Korean back to Japanese!

Went here last night. Ordered the honey fries and beef dumplings. Woke up this morning vomiting accompanied with extreme stomach cramping & diarrhea. This place gave me food poisoning. Be careful.

Great experience at the bar this evening.
Franklin was very nice and knowledgeable about the entire menu. The fatty tuna hand roll was fresh and delicious. Nice selection of Kimchi. Cocktails were eclectic and well designed. Definitely would try again when in the area.

The food was excellent! Being a vegetarian, I chose this restaurant because they have great veggie options. The manager, Andrew is very fun, and his visits to the table added to the fun atmosphere.

Place is really cool looking. Service is wonderful, honey butter fries are terrific. My daughtern and boyfriend had eaten here before they said there food was really good before. My youngest daughter is a kpop fan so we had to get her the reserve her the kpop booth for her birthday. It was like out own little secluded booth with kpop pictures on the wall and a panel where you press buttons and change the color of the booth. However no kpop music seemed odd not to have that. We loved the environment the waiter red about the food and we were salivating l bring on The food but first the drinks they were ok the drop had cherries were great the drink was ok the others got a pina colada which they thought was ok. Then came honey butter fries wonderful were are good other food started coming out . Buffalo Cauliflower I think then wings and garlic toast which all looked great. However as I tried each one I was thinking where is the flavor. I did not want to bring the vibe of table down so I was like yeah it's good.everyone gets meals. I get my 52$ dollar short braised ribs and was like wow. Then I tried it and it was ok at best I actually let the others try it at the table o was thinking it was me bit everyone was like it's "good". For 52$ I want a dammmmm reaction. However kept smiling did not ruin my daughter happy birthday. That offered dessert but we were going some place else for that. When we got outside my daughter was l Iike food was disappointed in the food. So was I and for the price I was definitely underwhelmed. When we got in the car everyone said it was ok but nobody wanted to complain. I was like now you all say something. We all were like how about those fries though. Don't think will be going back. Feel bad for college students who might go she'll out a bunch of money here when probably get a better meal at a food truck.

My drink was smaller than expected. But it was good. The food was great.

We stopped by to check out this new fusion korean place and to be honest, it looks like a good spot for a drink and bar snacks, albeit a little pricy, but not necessarily for a full meal. We tried the dumplings, fries, and one of the rice cake dishes. The food was decent but not a full meal. I'll come back again to try out their other dishes and update the review, but for now, it's a bit of a miss for me. I will say the service here is quite good and we had a good experience with the staff. They seem attentive and very happy to help elevate the experience. I wasn't here when the location was The Pod, but I think they maintained and even updated some of the interior decorating and they did a good job creating a unique dining experience. I'll keep an eye on this spot to see where they take the restaurant.

Sierra !! Sierra!! I have never had a server as amazing as Sierra! Her friendly and caring presence. Her knowledge of the menu. Her ability to make us feel like family was just all the add ons to an amazing evening. The food was soo fresh ! Top tier, quality ingredients with cooks who care about consistency. If you ever visit Kpod please ask to be seated in Sierras section. The beef short rib and honey butter fries!! I cant wait to go back! Thanks for an amazing evening Sierra and Kpod staff!

I had an overall decent experience here at Kpod. Their staff members were extremely polite and friendly. The atmosphere reminded me of a rave or a house party with techno-ish music playing. They offer 3 "pods" you can sit at and change the lighting. My jaw did drop and hit the floor when I saw the bill amount. We did order a good amount of food between but I was not expecting $230 later. Gotta love date nights. Definitely check this restaurant out for a good time.

I wish I could rate it higher because of the aptmosphere and great service. But the food was definitely overpriced. When I got the bill I did a double take because for the money I paid I expected to be full. The waiter we had was dope and the food my lady ordered was a nice size but my 2 tuna rolls were extremely small for 16 per roll. I expected more but alas, I should never go to small plates places expecting to be full.
My advice… skip this on date night and get burgers instead. You and your person will be fuller, and happier.

A good place to go if you'd like to role play as a shadow.
It's rare for a place to make me feel like I am insignificant. This place did just that. After the initial order of appetizers or small plates, they simply decided they were not going to bother with serving us again. We attempted to flag a couple of people to no avail until we practically had to call out to a person to get their attention. We gave that individual our order, to only have another waiter come by and ask us to repeat our order because that person actually didn't take it down.
And the food... What can I say about the food? The consistent thread of the food throughout the experience is that it was under seasoned and one note.
We had the entire assortment of small dishes
One of the fried dumplings (spicy pork)
The grilled skirt steak
Bim Bim bap, duck
All of them were sub par.
Overall review: skip it. There are many other places more deserving of your cash. This place looks much better than it tastes.

Great night out at KPod. Food was very good and new. Service was fantastic with Rodrigo M when we sat at the bar that we ended up staying there to finish our dinner especially since it was so busy. Loved his food and drink suggestions and he was always attentive.

Received several recommends as the best restaurant within walking distance of PennMed and it did not disappoint! The flavors tickle all of your senses! Interesting atmosphere and attentive staff. I especially enjoyed the NA drink that my waiter had invented for New Years! Attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Will be back!

We ordered the Bo Ssam (you have to order days in advance) which costs 200$ and came with many Banchan. It was plenty of food to feed 5 hungry adults. The Bo Ssam was perfectly cooked, however in my opinion everything was far too sweet. One of the cucumber kimchi that came with it was vaguely spicy, but I'm being generous in saying that. If the Banchan had a wider variety of interesting flavors the Bo Ssam would have been much better.
