Japanese Fusion Restaurant located in Midtown Village of Philadelphia. Best outdoor seating in the city! Full bar and Happy Hour is 6 days a week at 4PM-6PM (We are closed Mondays.) Also have one of the largest Sake menus in the city! Come enjoy great Sushi, Bao Buns, Donburi (Rice Dishes), Wings (Some of the best wings in the city!) and much much more! Walk-in only unless parties of 5 or more.
An amazing sushi spot in the city pass this place walking back to my hotel after lunch and looked it up on Google. The reviews were great so I thought I would check it out for dinner. What a terrific find their sushi is amazing town they have sake, my waitress literally poured the craft at the top, they have real ginger and some pretty unique rolls as well as their seaweed salad option which I got the salmon skin, seaweed salad. It was crazy delicious and the rolls I had were absolutely divine eight large pieces per roll. The ambience is very weak. It’s like modern Japanese combined with Japanese game characters very hip and very unique. I can’t wait to return the next time I’m in the city and if you’re looking for a good spot and around the square of Philly this is definitely the place!

Cool spot! We visited 1225Raw with a friend after visiting the Philly Flower Show nearby and had a good time. Prices were a tad high, and they were out of some options we wanted to try, but overall service was fast and the food solid. Would come back.

Loved this spot, we wanted to go to a speakeasy and this came up. I found it interested they hard sushi and from their photos I was a little unsure.
I AM SO GLAD WE WENT. Our waiter was outstanding he had a great attitude and recommendations. We like to try at least one thing our waiter will suggest and we tried almost everything he suggested because it was just that good.
Drinks were strong but I am not complaining I'm glad they actually make drinks you can taste the trouble haha. They also had so many options to pick from their menu and I wanted it all.

Y’all the lemon pepper wings, SO GOOD. They have a spectacular happy hour, lots food and drink options. The Boa buns, also delish. We sat outside and the heat from the lamps were really good so if they say they only have outdoor seating & it’s cold, it should be ok. I am looking forward to going back.

Went for the first time and really enjoyed it. Got there just as it opened in tim for happy hour (&they also run Sips specials). Sat in the outdoor courtyard/area whixh was nice. The servers were very quick and attentive. And, not only was the food good, it came out fast! Definitely plan to go there again and recommend it.
Update: came back yesterday (June 2022) and it's still very good. Good sized portions, food is served fresh, service was great. Glad it's still standing post-pandemic and still recommend checking them out!

Amazing Asian fusion tacos! The bulgoggi tacos were amazing, I'd definitely recommend that. Any of the other taco options were also great. Can't go wrong with pork and kimchi in a taco. The sushi was really good quality. You can tell it's good quality when there's more fish than rice 😉 if you're in the mood for something hot and soupy, they have a great selection of ramen as well! I'd like to come back and try more from the menu. The service was very good and very fast. I got my food within 10 minutes after ordering.

Sushi is outstanding. Happy hour menu is excellent. This was our go to restaurant but the service is beyond terrible. Last few times they’ve been understaffed, got the order wrong multiple times, and straight up forget about you. I have to bribe people to go here now because I love the food but the service is the worst.

Just a heads up to anyone heading here that it appears to have been abandoned as of this past week at least — but that’s not reflected in the open hours. (If it ever reopens, the food was actually quite good - but there’s no service or atmosphere at the moment)

The sushi was surprisingly good. I would like to acknowledge their spicy tuna which is a standard roll for most sushi fans. The wasabi was also fresh.
On the other hand, our dining experience was not good. We waited in limbo at the empty host stand for 10 minutes and were not checked in.
We were never given plates, the soy sauce was served to us in individual take out packets, and our water was not refilled throughout the meal.
Unfortunate review for the chefs who crafted our special rolls.

I should have checked the reviews. They are no longer. Can’t tell if it’s a temporary renovation or what’s going on? They could have at least updated their info here on Google Maps, set up a voice mail instead of letting the phone just right indefinitely, disabled reservations, updated their web page, etc… very weird. Hopefully it’s temporary. Might try again on the next trip to Philly.

It's closed and they didn't bother to inform their patrons with reservations. With that lack of attention to details, no wonder they closed.

I had a reservation for 10 people for a bachelorette party, but when I arrived at the restaurant, it was closed. Apparently, all the chefs walked out on the same day (likely because of poor management). The restaurant never called to cancel our reservation, leaving us stranded to try and find a last-minute opening at another restaurant. Shame because we were excited to try this place but will never attempt to again given the poor customer service thats clearly reflected on their staff.

A big fan of sushi and the Philly foodie scene here.
I’d skip this place if I were you. The shrimp tempura roll looked like something out of a grocery store. The food was very overpriced and truly not spectacular .
We arrived about an hour prior to closing and felt extremely rushed out by the staff. We had employees sweeping around us, checking if there was anything else we wanted “so we can close things up” we were told. We felt very rushed and very not welcome.
The drinks…….. I had a martini that sorta tasted like fire water, it wasn’t great, my friend had a beer which was a little flat .
I feel you’ll find much better sushi in Philly elsewhere 😞

Phenomenal excitement never knew there was a sushi bar in the area, great atmosphere, we were well taken care of and the food wasn’t to bad as well. Only improvement would say the drink options and more life would brighten up the room as well, over good experience would recommend for a night in the town.

I’d recommend this place to anybody honestly. The atmosphere is nice if you’re into Japanese culture, the drinks are good and aren’t too pricey. I haven’t tried much of the food yet so I can’t give much of an opinion on it, the fries are good tho.
Visited 9 months ago
The food was just okay but way overpriced. We get the same quality of food elsewhere for literally half the price. The atmosphere isn’t special. The biggest issue is the service. Our waiter was Tyrell, who was mostly absent. We had a small group of 6 and he couldn’t handle taking the order at the same time or split the ticket. Wouldn’t recommend and will not return.

I had just the worst service experience at this restaurant. We reserved a table for a party of 6 for 8:15 pm.
My friends got to the restaurant at 8:35, while I came there at 8:15. I asked the host to seat me at the table we reserved to wait for the others, since I wanted to get a drink and explore the menu while I wait - but the guy just said “he can’t give me the table” and stared back at his phone.
He couldn’t even explain to me why he can’t provide me with my RESERVED table that I came for on time - he just said he can’t give me that table and that I should wait in the cold lobby on the cold bench near the door.
I waited alone in that hall for 30 minutes!!! Seeing people constantly opening the door and going back and force by me.
They got the table we reserved ahead of time 30 minutes late and were very rude about it - I saw no client care or respect whatsoever. The guy was just staring at his phone and after saying they can’t give me the table just left me alone for 30 minutes. He literally left the front desk and left me alone with no answers whatsoever.
They finally gave us the table in 30 minutes - and then the waiter messed up my order. She didn’t even know what fried egg meant?? Another waiter came to us later and tried serving us the Long Island Ice-tea that we didn’t even order.
if you charge the prices you charge, I expect a better treatment- especially from the host guy who wasn’t trying to talk to me at all, was very rude and just at his phone, and eventually left me alone for 30 minutes.
Or if you can’t give me a table that I reserved on time and manage your reservations properly - maybe close your reservation list ahead of time so that people don’t wait in your cold hall doing nothing for 30 minutes??? Terrible service and terrible experience, very rude personnel and no hospitality values.

i've been coming here for years, but i've noticed some bad changes in recent months. first, there's now a 3% surcharge added to checks for reasons unknown that's not disclosed. they say it's a credit card fee, but it's added before you've elected to pay with a credit card. second, there isn't consistency in the kitchen or behind the bar. i've ordered the same drink on different occasions and it's been wildly different each time, same for the udon dishes. the pricing has gone up and the quality of food (other than the sushi) has gone down. staff is friendly and the happy hour is a decent deal, but the pricing plus the fees makes this place a skip.

I cannot believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. It is my FAVORITE place in all of Philadelphia. I have been coming here for years and years. From the delicious food to the incredible staff to the immaculate vibes I have never recommended a place more. The sushi is incredible. The happy hour is expansive. The bathrooms are well maintained. Avoid the overhyped spots with long waits and come here it’s underrated and superior in every way.

This is one of my favorite sushi spots when it first opened many years ago. It’s been at least five years since I was last here. Our other spot was all booked up so I decided to book here very last minute. The food was not as good as I remembered, the service is still good, and their atmosphere is always very hip and young. Overall a good experience. The white tiger role is excellent and the squid is a must try as well.

This review is not to cause an establishment to lose some of its value but to help improve the way it runs the business. My experience at Raw was not what a 4.5 star place should be. The food was mediocre where you can get it at a take out sushi spot at anywhere in the city, oversauced, extra veggies as filler, minimal amount of fish on sushi. Udon soup and Yaki udon were sweet-one tone! They tried to chase customers out when they needed extra seat to jam more people into the restaurant and they combine group party into tiny table with picnic metal chair. Tables were small, seated 4 max. We had to remind the waitress who gets what order each time. It was very overwhelming.
The only great thing was the tall skinny, glasses waiter who was responsible, answered all of our questions, and remembered our orders. Thank you!

The food is amazing. Sushi is fresh, well executed, and the appetizers were on point. Service was slow. Our server did warn us. However, timing on apps, salad, food in general was off, and she was seemingly indifferent to us, possibly due to having to many tables. We were seated right near the sushi area, which in same ways was neat, but the expediter was quite boisterous and did not lend the Saturday night date vibe we had hoped for.

Great little sushi place! I was in town for business and randomly stopped in. I'm glad I did. I only ordered sashimi and a roll and both were fantastic. Kudos to the chefs and the quality of fish. Also, the bartender was delightful and attentive. She is a gem. Even though the ambience probably caters to an under-40 crowd, I nevertheless enjoyed my time. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in Philly. Cheers!

I have been to 1225 raw many times. The food is phenomenal, which was why I decided to have my birthday dinner here bringing guests from out of town. I had the WORST experience at a restaurant I’ve ever had. We had 2-3 separate people serving us, nobody knew what they were doing. Nobody came to ask if we wanted drinks for over 30 minutes, and finally when they did they got the drinks mixed up. Then nobody came to take our food order for another 45 minutes I physically had to go to the bar and make sure someone would come take our order. We never ordered all at once because the server(s) were so frazzled, and the food was coming incorrect (both what was ordered and the amounts). I totally understand if it was a busy night but restaurant was empty. I got the wrong roll and several other orders were incorrect. Again, I had to go up to the bar because no one was coming over to our table. I let the bartender know we received the incorrect rolls and that it would be taken off the bill. By the time time bill came 3 hours later we wanted to get out of there immediately. A photo of the bill was taken and next day we realized we were STILL CHARGED for the incorrect orders and food that never even came to our table. I would normally let this thing go but the experience was so bad the people I brought from out of town are still talking about it weeks later. Unacceptable!!

Great find! The appetizers and sushi were really good. The cocktails were were tasty but a bit pricey for what you got, but they do have an extensive sake list. Excellent service and the outside seating was very enjoyable, kind of tucked away from the main road which gives some privacy. Overall, very good!

The entrance was a little confusing since there are two entrances next to each other and there was no host when we arrived. We went during restaurant week so we expected it to be a little hectic.
We sat at the bar and were quickly attended for the first round of drinks which were good. However, as the night progressed and the venue got busier, we tried to order food and despite the staff saying they would be with us shortly several times we never got to place an order or get another round of drinks. We were so hungry after waiting for more than an hour that we had to leave to get food elsewhere. It took a bit to get our check too as the barstaff kept forgetting to bring it by after we asked. I don't blame the staff for being so scattered since it was probably a busier night than normal.
All in all, the venue has a cool vibe and decent drinks but maybe go on a night that isn't too crowded to get the best experience.

I’ve dined at this restaurant for the past 5 years with my girlfriend because it’s her favorite place to eat. However; they recently changed the menu and it’s horrible. For example, I ordered the spicy pork bowl and it tasted like it was seasoned with just salt, pepper and sesame oil. From my impression, the menu change was to save cost by using cheaper ingredients to save money. The service and atmosphere remains the same. If the menu ever changes back, I’d be willing to take down my review.
Update - I went back with my Fiancée and as promised they brought back the old menu. While I was mostly happy to have some of my favorite menu items back, it’s somewhat half true. For example, the 1225 fries are no longer wedges, but regular string fries which negatively affected the taste. I imagine not everything is exactly the same.

This place was wonderful. I went in with my sushi-loving son for a light dinner. Prices were reasonable, the menu is diverse, and the waiter was great. The place was busy, but not too overwhelming for my son. This was in contrast to a hip joint down the block that didn’t seem too welcoming and was loud, loud, loud. This place was still loud, but not as much and just seemed more welcoming.
We also enjoyed the decor, with the walls covered in pictures and newspaper articles and the like.
We had the bulgogi tacos and the basic nigiri/California roll platter. I’ve eaten at a few Korean taco places in Seoul and these bulgogi tacos were just as good. My son, who hasn’t eaten Korean food regularly since he was 4, loved them and now wants to eat more. He also gave the fish on the sushi a 10 out of 10, saying he judges sushi places on their raw fish and this is the best he’s had.

Incompetent and dishonest.
Placed my name on the list. Was given an estimate for 45-60 minutes, which is fine as there were quite a few people there waiting as well. My group went to a couple doors down for a drink while we waited for their text message. *90 minutes* go by and we don’t hear anything so we go back to see where our place in line is. We note that there is no one waiting in the lounge area. We ask how much longer it’ll be and they say they’re not sure because “no one is leaving”. They say they sent text messages but then people aren’t showing up. I pull my phone out and show them I never received a text message. They make up an excuse saying the text message didn’t go through. When asked who they sent the messages to, they report it is done at their own discretion. When asked to see where we are in line, they say the line was deleted. They clearly messed up and can’t own up to it, and instead decide to lie to us. Get your facts straight and apologize. Of note, during this whole conversation of about 3 minutes, we then saw 3 separate parties leave (so yet another lie by them).

Eating a number of time there during happy hour since I work very close. The atmosphere is always great and the last time I went, the DJ played great music. The food is delicious and I like the additions to the happy hour menu. The drinks are okay, doesn't seem to be anything that I love but maybe that will change with Leda's. One thing that I don't like are the bathrooms- dim, dark bathrooms in the basement doesn't necessarily give off 'safe' vibes. Lighting needs to be brighter. Not sure if there are bathrooms on the main floor since accessibility should always be a priority. Otherwise great place, highly recommend.

I absolutely adore this place! Staff is wonderful and service is quick and top quality food! The only reason I give 4 stars is because they completely changed their menu and removed some of their best items! Even the waitress said she understood and had received several complaints just that night. The sushi sliders and yaki noodles specifically were incredible along with their fabulous happy hour menu which completely changed. We ordered their beef bulgogi which is less saucey and had no veggies so even their items that remained on the menu are different. Philadelphia has such a large and competitive food scene and this restaurant used to have unique items that you could not find anywhere else. It breaks my heart, but I will return for high quality food and the staff.

I've been here 3 times all of which the (same) hostess has been nothing but rude, inattentive, has her AirPods in while she's staring on her phone. The first time I had a reservation and was meeting a client and she said I couldn't sit till my whole party was here (keep in mind there was four tables clearly available and I would of immediately got a drink) second time was for another industry event which I don't even think she knew was happening. And third time there was an event in the courtyard and I said i was going to the event at ledas (as advertised) and she said ledas was closed until I specifically asked where people are djijg and she was like oh first exit) I work in service i have for 10+ years and I've never seen someone worse at their job. What an experience. I want to get married here. My friends and I are obsessed with this bar. They went first without me and got wasted. I had serious fomo. Then the next time I was in town we all went. We planned a whole itinerary and made reservations at another bar for afterwards, called “Leda and the swan.” We loved Raw and kept ordering more and more food and bao buns and Naruto cocktails. We got drunk and had the best time ever. Check out the men’s urinal wall. Then we headed to Leda but we’re honestly sad to leave. It was like negative degrees in the city it was freezing. But we walked around turned right twice and found Leda and The Sean. Spoiler, the two bars share the same space, one is the front and one is the back. Our minds were blown. Best night ever

The white tiger and burning rainbow rolls were 🔥 some of the best sushi I've had! Very fresh and unique rolls. Loved the atmosphere of the bar and inside of the restaurant with the hanging lights. There is a cute outdoor area with an outdoor bar too.

Good drinks and food, and plenty of options, from sushi to donburi to ramen. They have a of everything.

Phenomenal sushi. Visiting Philly for a work event and did not expect to find this quality of sushi, especially at a dressed down, relaxed spot.
Beautiful courtyard, cool vibe by the bar area and great service as well. Marciano was a wizard behind the bar, and even the miso was perfect and worth commenting on. Sad I'm only in town for a couple more days. 10/10 would recommend.

My friend and I came here for CC Sips and were seated within 5 minutes. Our server was great. Food and drinks were served very fast. We loved the Spirited Away cocktail. I wasn't a fan of the sauce that came on the chicken bites, so I wished that was served on the side. Food was good and atmosphere was great. I'd like to come back to try more from the dinner menu.

Excellent food and great atmosphere

Excellent place for sushi and drinks. I adore the non-sushi options; they definitely know how to cook and season their skewers. I would say the only negative is the recommended drinks can be very hit or miss. They're either very good or not that great. Would come back again!

Absolutely Loves this place. I’ve been there 3 times now and have never been disappointed. Everything is so fresh. Wait staff work as a team to get the job done right

Fantastic Ramen noodle bowls and sushi! Cool environment, and the outdoor patio is great if it's not too hot.

Came in on a Tuesday night after reading the reviews and was in and out in 45 mins. We were seated quickly without reservations and service was super quick. Jose was our server and he was attentive and knowledgeable of the history of the restaurant and the menu. His energy woke me up and I appreciated that after a long work day. The restaurant was clean and the food was fresh. The atmosphere was perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. We ordered a number of appetizers and everything was great. I certainly plan to revisit.

Love the ginger salad and sushi

Great atmosphere, the outdoor seating is tucked away and very cozy feeling. Came in the summer and it felt very comfortable to sit outside as it was away from the sun and they had fans going. Food was delicious and music was good, unobtrusive but loud enough to set the mood.

Great sushi and pork belle buns

If you’ve had good sushi, you will find this average at best. Over priced for the quality, they never answer their phone, will occasionally cancel your order after you’ve placed it, and don’t indicate when they are closed

I’m leaving this review based off my Center City sips happy hour experience (Party of two) We were able to get a seat at the bar which was nice and they have hooks for your bag under the bar which is always a plus. I would get it an A for the atmosphere. It was very busy but I like a busy place. if you go with a larger party you will have a considerable wait for seating in the later hours. They took our order pretty quickly for food and drinks but it did take some time for the drinks to arrive. My friends drink was ok however I was given the wrong drink. The drinks were strong but I would say flavor was mid and so was the price. I would say the most disappointing part was the food. While it was far from terrible It felt like the quality could’ve been better especially with the dumplings which were $6. Our total was $33 for two drinks and three apps. Although it’s quite a deal you can get more for your money elsewhere. Honestly the place we went to after we spent half as much for twice as much food.

Was here for CC Sips. Got seated without waiting too long ~ 30mins during peak hours. Service was very good. Food came out fast and the cocktails were quite nice. Loved the ambience of the place as well. Decently priced as well. Drinks + apps came around to a 100$ for 4 people.

The alleyway outside eating area has an awesome atmosphere, waiters were extremely nice, and food and drinks are on point. We stopped by without reservations at 8 pm on a Friday and we were seated right away. The vibes are great, although music was a little too loud even for a 2 person table. Their drink menu is really fun and got us excited with their manga references. We had a fairly basic dinner with miso soup and sushi, and the sushi was amazing. Their veggie dragon roll was a great option for me since I'm not a fan of fish - it was unique and had tons of flavor. We would definitely come back to try their other dishes in the future.

Great place for sake and quality sushi lovers!
They have a large selection of sake of different origins and strengths. Lots of space at the bar with solid mood lighting for a date or night out with friends.
No complaints at all. Knowledgeable bartenders as well! Give this place a shot!

I like this place because it generally has a lay back atmosphere, good sake and decent food. Some prices are a bit unreasonable, but the menu is large and you can usually find plenty of alternatives.

The sushi was simply superb, service was absolutely wonderful. The sole reason I'm giving 4 stars is that there was zero hand soap to wash my hands with after using the restroom, only hand sanitizer. This is totally unacceptable period, but especially in the midst of a global pandemic.

Sushi was sub par considering the price. And the service left alot to be desired. Amazing decor and set up inside, and the robatayaki was yummy. Not sure if I would come back here with other great sushi places in the city to choose from

Probably the best sushi I’ve ever had. We sat at the bar and the cocktails were so good, but also could not have had better service. Can’t wait to go back! 1000/10 stars is what it deserves
