The place was pretty good. The food was great. The only problem I have is the customer service and. It was lousy. It wasn't even busy and you have these kids that are waiters on their phone and just talking to each other instead helping the customers. That's why I never tip this place for their crappy service

I believe this location has closed for good. From another customer: " Trish Caguiat
September 4 ·
Today is a sad day...
My go-to all you can eat sushi place has closed.
O'Sushi in Portland is, according to what seemed like the new owners, is turning into a Korean BBQ restaurant.
I haven't posted about this place before because it's not in the Couve, but I have recommended it in comments for people asking for sushi spots to try. Well, take that and rewind it back, because this place is gone.
I guess I'll have to let go of "all you can eat" and go back to the much smaller "all you can afford" now.
RIP O'Sushi"

The food was excellent!! Some of our favorites included the salmon, seared salmon, creamy scallop, and yellowtail. I would return here just for the food!!

Unfortunately, the restaurant wasn't the cleanest. And service also wasn't the best. The servers were nice, but seemed to be annoyed when we asked for things. How the owners can improve on both the cleanliness and the servers.

My friend and I came and we had the all-you-can-eat sushi. They charge you a dollar for every piece of sushi that you don't eat at the end of your meal. I had green tea and the total was $50.50. Next time I come back I will take photos.

The all you can eat is an incredible value. The selection on the sush-go-round was meager but the service was very attentive and the made-to-order sushi came quickly. The quality was pretty good, especially for the price. The little expo robot was a fun touch. We will be back :)

We arrived at 8 and thought we definitely would have enough time to eat conveyer belt sushi . I watched the same 6 plates of sushi go past 4 tables of people. I asked the server if they would be making any more. He said no, its to close to closing time. Yet they want to charge all you can eat prices? We also filled 2 tables of people and they wouldn't allow the kids to sit with other family members because the owner doesn't allow that. It's 8:22 and still nothing else on the belt. The plate of sushi I did grab from.the conveyor belt was warm.

They have corrected everything written in any of the less than 5 star reviews. The price is now $23 for adults. They let you order as much as you want all at once. The service is awesome! They checked in on us every 10 minutes. We left totally stuffed with awesome quality sushi.

They've lowered the price of the all you can eat sushi (in 90 minutes) to $23 for adults, so it was a pretty good deal. Order the specialty rolls early in your visit, I made the mistake of ordering one on my third order, and it was huge compared to the other roll orders - which are more like what's on the belt. Service was either very attentive or you had to flag someone down. All in all worth the price.

If you are thinking of getting sushi here I'd advise you to reconsider. I ordered three rolls today and ended up only eating one out of the three and I'll tell you why. Not only were the other two rolls absolutely monstrous but drenched in sauce. It was so hard to even eat a roll due to its sizing and its form was crumbling because of all the extra sauce. Such a waste of $33.

Food is really good. They have a by the plate option & an all you can eat option. Food comes out fairly quick the first & second round. Then it slows down.... a lot. They do have a 90 minute time limit, unfortunately it's weather they are busy or not. If you want me out of here in 90 minutes, dont slow down the time for the food coming out. 🫤 Later, they come out and pretty much do a "last call" to remind you that you only have 30 minutes left. 😑 Party's of 5 or more have an 18% gratuity added on to the bill (which I'm okay with but, 1. don't rush me if I'm not talking advantage of the all you can eat & 2. Don't take 20 minutes to bring out the next round.) At the end they told us that we had an added gratuity because the guy that sat us said there was 5 people. There was only 4 of us & they "couldn't do anything about it. I definitely won't be going back.

One of our favorite sushi spots! They now offer all you can eat for $26 per person. The only thing that could make it better would be faster service so you can actually order more within that 90 min time frame, and if they still showed Ghibli movies on the TVs like they used to at the Happy Valley location. The eel nigiri, salmon nigiri, pepper tuna, dragon roll, Vegas roll, caterpillar roll, calamari, miso, and salmon skin hand rolls are some of our favorites.

Don’t let the “all you can eat is lower quality” stigma lead you wrong. This place is quality! I have eaten here several times over the last few months - at busy times and very slow times - and I’ve always left pretty impressed. I’m a big fan. All you can eat is totally worth it if you are a big sushi eater.

The service was quick. Lots of selection so my issue was you can order instead of taking from the belt. The server would drop orders at the end of the table (party of 4 ) and we didn’t know what was what or who it was for. I actually have no clue what I ordered or who are whose order. 😆All menus order items came on one plate. It was very confusing. The sushi was ok. So a warning, automatic gratuity of a party of six or more . Also Anything you don’t eat you get charged 1$ a piece. It’s all you can eat, but not all you can take and leave on your plate. So you have to eat it even if it’s gross or you are stuffed. Oh and lastly there is no refrigeration for the sushi rolling around the conveyor belt in hindsight, is this OK ? Someone correct me if I’m wrong . 🍣 so raw fish not being picked sits in the conveyor belt for hours on end?

Sushi Experience №38

Not bad for an all you can eat sushi. They have a few things going around on the conveyor belt, but you pretty much just order everything fresh. They had very taste special rolls but I wish they were a bit smaller (8 pieces) as I would have like to try some different ones. The other rolls are 4 pieces. The nigiri was very good, especially the seared salmon (had a smoky flavor). The service was excellent! Very attentive and they came by frequently to see if we wanted to order more. Sushi came out pretty fast.
The robot server is cute, but you need to request if you want it to deliver to you.

Food was of decent quality, but service was the worst I’ve had at a restaurant in a couple years. Hard to get them to give you a second round for the all you can eat, was there for more than a hour and never once asked for refills. Had to flag them down to take the plates from the table. The waitress was unpleasant. They have new people working that has dramatically affected the atmosphere. Guys making the sushi were quick with the food which was the only good thing. It has fallen off and will be last time going.

Shockingly bad for being next to the best Asian market.

O'sushi had bad food. Cheap is the best way to describe it. You don't go to a sushi conveyor belt restaurant for quality but this was horrifically bad. Everything had krab fish in it.

You had to order rolls to the table because what was going around on the conveyor was repetitive. Only 4 different rolls?

Go to sushi ohana instead. Way better quality and better service.

I rather lick my own a$$ than to eat here again. Their spicy Tuna meat was a light brown color and to get service you had to literally raise your hand like you was in class to order more food. There was no more than a hand full of coustomers present. The wasbi tasted like paste BTW. I meet a friend there but they had not showed up yet so I went inside and told them 2 people. Later my friend could not make it and the server he told me that they could take off the extra person. Saying it was to difficult. This place will be going out of business. Save your money and eat at a real Sushi place. Will never go here again!!! Don't belive me, got $31 to throw out the window? Be my guess.

So my girlfriend and I came to this restaurant for the first time. We didn't know how it worked or anything. So we walk in and the guy told us about the promotion, I said a normal meal. So he pointed where to sit, since we had someone behind me to pay their bill. So I sit down. Once the people behind me finished paying, we waited to get menus. But we didn't. We waited about 10 minutes and I went up to th guy and asked him how does this restaurant work. And he replied "oh I'm sorry. I completely forgot that you were at the table. Since I was busy with other customers" So if I didn't come up to him and asked for the menu, we wouldn't be able to order? I am guessing he was new but he was on his phone all the time. I saw him at the cashier on his phone, he went to the kitchen and be on his phone. He was on his phone most of the time.
So we got a menus. We ordered sushi and chicken katsu. We ate, it was delicious. We finished our plates and I didn't get my chicken katsu. So I told another employee that I ordered and I haven't gotten it yet. So he went in the kitchen and idk if he told them but I didn't get it. So I was paying and I told another employee that I ordered a chicken katsu to go since I was leaving. It took them about 30 minutes for a plate. And there were almost no customers, so it wasn't full just like 4 tables. We left there won't come back

Good-ish. The all you can eat is a good deal (only on Wednesday when it's cheaper)...but I wouldn't eat many of the conveyor belt rolls again since they lean heavy on the spicy mayo/rich flavored things do you get full quickly. I had to order the nigiri because there's strangely none of it on the conveyor belt. The nigiri is okay, be sure to request they don't use wasabi on them though. Every nigiri roll used wasabi and it overpowered the flavor of the fish.

It's so so conveyor sushi belt sushi, and my favorite sushi place is technically a conveyor belt (Sushi Ichiban with sushi rolling around on a model train track). Might go again if I was going to Fubonn on a Wednesday...but otherwise wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

Only half the food we ordered arrived and I'm pretty sure i watched them give some of our missing food to the wrong table. Sat around waiting forever to even be able to leave because no one would bring us our bill. Hey person who owns this place/head manager, if you cant afford to properly staff your store, it shouldnt be open.

The restaurant was nice, food was delicious, and servers were good. But whoever the owner is, they need to put the actual correct hours either on the door or online because they do not close 9pm on weekdays. I was told they close at 8:30pm on weekdays and weekends at 9pm, and I have come here “late” so many times due to the misleading restaurant hours. Whoever in charge needs to fix this issue so that customer don’t get a misunderstanding.

Sushi Experience №81

I have come here for quite a few years and think that for the price the sushi is decent. However the dine-in service has always been horrible. For that reason I usually order food to go and just pick it up. I am not the type of person to be hyper critical or write bad reviews but after many bad experiences in the past and the worst one today I will not be giving them my business anymore. I have never had good service from the wait staff. The turnover seems very high so it is almost always someone new that seems untrained and unmotivated to help. I have had several experiences where it was not very busy and I still felt neglected by the servers. Today I arrived by myself and maybe 30% of the tables were filled. After waiting by the entrance for awhile one of the servers just pointed at the row of seats at the bar but did not actually talk to me. Not the most welcoming gesture, but not a big deal so I just took a seat. I pulled a few sushi plates off of the rotating belt. 10 minutes passed and none of the 3 servers acknowledged me or asked if I wanted water.
I also had no wasabi or chopsticks so I could not eat the sushi that I had in front of me. I sat a few more minutes and watched as 2 other groups who had arrived AFTER me were helped, given drinks and then ordered some items from the kitchen. I waited a few more minutes. One other person arrived and he was immediately seated and given a drink. I just walked away and won't be coming back again. I really wanted to keep going to O' Sushi because it's affordable and convenient but after multiple bad experiences I'm done with them. Another example is about 2 months ago I was there on a slow weekday and the staff did an "okay" job. There was only one other couple in the restaurant that afternoon. I still had to flag down staff members anytime I needed anything (they never checked on me on their own). The main reason I left unhappy that day was because there were 3 of them and they stood directly behind me almost the entire time I was eating having a conversation with each other that was completely based on them complaining about their coworkers. It was very unprofessional and went on for 20 minutes.

Ugh, so disappointed with the food and service. Sadly, this is the second time we’ve experienced this. We ordered food to-go and the sushi did not taste fresh. On top of that, our order was missing a couple of things and we didn’t realize it until we were home. Part of this was our fault for not checking our order before leaving. Such a bummer. We like to give places the benefit of the doubt but we won’t be giving this place a third chance.

Very frustrating. Order was incomplete and did not taste good. Even the ginger was brown and smelled bad and they charge .50 a container. We called ahead to get the order corrected and told we didn’t need to bring the order but when I drove all the way back I was told I needed the order to see if what I was saying was correct. In the end, I spent $60 for gross sushi, no apology, and two trips.

First time dining and the sushi was good but the service however was absolutely unstable and rude. First off I had more then one server and none of them could keep track of what was being ordered so some orders where wrong, second I had to ask multiple times for curtain things and they would bring it then take it away from my table, when it was time to pay they didn’t do the full order of give me my to go and snatched my to go out of my hand rudely acting like I was going to steal a few shrimp, in which they failed adding to my check which I thought I already paid for and had an attitude with me when I had said i wasn’t aware I had to pay separately to just the shrimp because I was not informed of that. After the shrimp where paid for the server shoved the shrimp in my bag causing the order to fall over and become crumbled and fell apart. The service completely ruined mine and my dates whole experience which sucks because we spent over $100 on just the two of us and tried being patient and understanding as we are both also in service industry but the shoving my food causing a mess was completely unacceptable and unethical.

I did not get the water or the ginger that I requested...The quality of the sushi is not good at all and the way they placed the sushi on the dishes were poor laziness...I ordered 2 ikura sushi and only got 2 with 2 plates?🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️ .. The sushi is really small for $3.00 a plate.. After eating the couple of plates that I ordered, I could not get the taste out of my mouth, (No Water)...I just had to hurry up and pay and go buy me some water..The place was pretty much empty, that would give you a good idea not to eat here....Good luck if you want to try this place out...

Great sushi as always - I've been coming here for years. The only thing they could improve upon is their phone system. A single line with no call-waiting or automatic hold feature with no caller ID is somewhat of a let down. I called in my order with my name, gave them almost 1.5 hours to prepare my food, walked in and they somehow lost my order. They didn't write down my phone number (or asked for it when I initially called), which I think is the culprit of losing said order. I'm pretty patient with minor inconveniences, but if they upgraded their phone system, I don't think this issue would have happened.

Otherwise, sushi is top notch. I will continue to go here.

Great idea and I was excited to go as I love sushi. However, unless you love mayo and cream cheese don't go. Almost every roll had spicy mayo, spicy tuna (mayo) crab salad (mayo) and cream cheese. I'm not a fan of either so I ended up ordering tempura and miso soup. The one dish that was great noone knew what it was. Not even the cook and couldn't reproduce. Staff very friendly though. OH and no unsweetened tea. We got sweet instead and tasted like peach. Not good

This is the second most overrated restaurant I've ever been to. I went there over two months ago and it still comes to mind occasionally about what a waste of money it was. Do NOT order anything seared. They hold the blow torche so close to the fish, that ALL you taste is propane.

The cashier asked me how everything was and with my response of disappointment, he let out a quiet chuckle before he gave his apology giving me the impression that he had heard that many times before.

My review is not going towards the sushi chefs; it's going towards how they were not trained as well as they should have been. Do not go here if you know what good sushi tastes like. I promise you, you will be disappointed.

Service was great. The servers would check on us every 10-15 mins and I appreciated that. The all you can eat for $31 is lowkey worth if you're hungry. I wanna give a shout out to the dude in the glasses. He was beyond professional and did a wonderful job with his customer service.

This was serviceable sushi when you needed quick bite to eat. Service staff are friendly and sushi came out quickly. Now it's all you can eat sushi for $31 per person, which I can't rationalize for what is still conveyor belt sushi. Will need to find a replacement sushi place to get my fix.

Horrible experience last two times i have gone here. Stale sushi, almost no selection, calamari and egg rolls fried in dirty oil to oblivion, and wasabi that was just horseradish. Horrible value for horrible food.

The staff was bored. Eight people standing around and yet service was still slow and unresponsive. Horrible value for horrible food served and prepared by apathetic staff.

I will never go back to this restaurant. There are many much better conveyor belt sushi places in Portland.

If this place doesn’t improve drastically and quickly they deserve to go out of business. If they don’t care, should we?

Again, i will never go back to this place.

It isn't hard to get conveyor-belt sushi right, but these guys just barely succeed. Food wasn't bad, but it & service were below par compared with the other kai-ten sushi places in town.

Really neat idea to have the sushi on a belt that runs around the dinning area and pay per plate. Excellent philly roll sushi and the spicy seafood Ramen. The seared salmon and chicken katsu was peared great with the other dishes.

The cook with the black and orange flat-billed hat was making VERY inappropriate comments at the servers, making them visibly uncomfortable. Stuff I don't even feel comfortable repeating. He was speaking in Spanish thinking none of the customers would understand, but sitting not even 15' from him, it was clear as day. He seemed intoxicated and even went as far as mocking a customer's laugh. Disrespectful person, I would really hope something is done about his employment there.

I loved it! Ordering sushi was easy and there were so much sushi on the bar which made it simple to grab food. The waitresses we're nice 👍. Pricing was was your expect from a sushi place BUT it was better in some ways. Every play was the same price except the black plate which was 50 cents more. Overall a great experience.

I was actually pretty surprised how much I enjoyed this spot . It was clean . The young lady who served us was friendly , honest and informative. She really helped us narrow down a few new tries. If you were to look in - the belts look bare but it’s because they were looking to make it more fresh for you- a little more patience is needed on waiting for it but it was tasty and I would return again to this location. I’m definitely interested in seeing if its up to standard on a different day .

Look, it was fine. I have a kid who loves the idea of conveyor belt food, so we've been trying different places. Complication: we don't eat meat/eggs. I was told there would be decent vegan options here, and it was ok, but they had to be ordered and were not available on the conveyor. So, kid was non-plussed. I know it's a lot to ask for. Otherwise, it was a comfortable location and the servers were nice and helpful. Conveniently located near Fubonn!

Beautiful interior design, impressive graphic design. Sushi was not good. Ordered off the menu but the items came without promised interior ingredients. All rolls off the belt were also the too creamy, runny filling and lacking flavor. Nothing tasted fresh or good. Very disappointed and feel like it was a waste of money, waste of time, and waste of gut space. Augh. Maybe it was an off day for the chefs, but the servers weren't attentive either...

so for starters this was on a Sunday 1:30pm visit

not too happy the rice had a funny taste. and my seared salmon was under seared , and they added so much sause on top it was almost unedible. very sloppy , for not a busy day. my daughter ordered sesame balls and they showed up as we where leaving 30min. later . pretty much every plate was off in 1 way or another . could be the whole understaffed thing , but don't think so feels like they lost there touch.

When I first arrived I waited over 15 maybe 20 mins for the orange sauce I asked for and that was only because my sister had to go to cash register and ask for it. When our waitress showed up I had to ask again for the sauce and she didn’t even say sorry. I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt and maybe she had a rough day but it doesn’t get any better as time went in. There was also 2 other waitresses working. After that she was only attentive to us for 5 min. It seemed like they were catering to the white folks no offense. Every time she helped someone else with there order it seemed like she was purposely doing small busy work because she hated her job. I also made an order to go and they never told my order was ready. I find it weird that they couldn’t combine my to go order with my dine in order? Lastly they forgot my calamari. This place use to be so good but the customer service is awful. I still tipped 15% and it is an affordable sushi place but it’s not worth it… watching the waitress cater to everyone else but us and we were in between booths.

UPDATE: I visit again a few days later to be fair with my rating. The sushi was not as overcooked and pasty as my initial visit and the fish to rice proprotions were good. Restrooms still need work and service felt better. Increased rating to 4 stars.

---------------

One of the better conveyer belt sushi restaurants. Good price for what you get.

However to many cons. Terrible fish to rice ratios, overcooked rice that is so compressed it resembles a paste, no labels on food to indicate what you are eating, lacking service. Restrooms are poorly kept.

Hopefully this improves as they get more employees

Our family loves O’Sushi and we always have a larger order so I call hours ahead of time because I know it can get busy over there. Today I ordered a large order and wanted to be able to pick it up at 4pm. A family member went to pick it up and they told him they didn’t have it so I called just to check and see if maybe there was a mix up. I really don’t appreciate the young girl who answered the phone speaking to me the way she did. She said the order was being prepared I told her “No worries, thank you.” but her interrupting me saying “It’s not like we can put your order ahead of others.” Well… that’s why we called it in so it could be ready around 4pm. I am very understanding about being busy but I don’t appreciate her terrible attitude and tone. We will not be back to O’Sushi.
