They raised their prices, got rid of the 1.75 plate.
Me and my lady went, the bill ended up at $71 with tip.
We didn't even eat as much as we use to.
I don't know who is running this place but me and my lady loved going here because its cool and the price WAS fair.
For $45(with tip) i could go to sunny sushi at happy hour and get 4 high quality sushi rolls.

This place is now WAY WAY overpriced for low tier sushi.

Not to mention, 2 macaroons for $3.
Dude, the 12 pack at grocery outlet is $3.

This place really needs to lower the prices or unfortunately it will most certainly go under.

Have gone here multiple times over the past few years and used to really enjoy this spot. After the ownership change, everything has gone downhill. The hot appetizer type foods are always ice cold, the sushi rolls have gotten smaller, and the price has increased exponentially. The prices have gone up about 25% in the last two months. They got rid of the cheapest plate color and made the 2nd cheapest plate (now the cheapest) more expensive. Also super scammy, they are selling 2 macarons on a $3 plate - the same exact macarons you can get in a box of 12 for $4 (Delizza). Would not waste your time going here unless the new owners make significant improvements.

I got the miso soup and it was cold. The salmon was warm off the belt. The rolls were soggy from sitting too long on the belt. Told the waiter and he said that he had to talk to the manger to get it taken off the bill. I knew that from the look on his face that meant that he was going to be grilled by them so I decided to pay for it. Save yourself the trip and go to Sapporo sushi. Everything fresh and miso HOT

Came in here to eat and was served by the man waiter and the service was great from him. But the white lady waitress was really pushing about selling me everything on the damn menu. And I have been here before, everything has changed the cut of the salmon is way smaller, the spicy mayo taste off almost like they didn’t put Sriracha and replaced it with paprika or some other red spice, and The sauce is on the teriyaki also taste different more clumpy. And the soy sauce taste watered down. The cut of rolls is smaller. The guy waiter told me it was the change of owners, definitely some price cuts.
Won’t be back

Rotating sushi but don’t know how old they have been on the plate. Only 4 parties or about 15 people total eating there but they must have 100 plates circling (at room temp and not cooled). Imagine raw fish plus old warm plate, going on merry-go-round for hours.

Like Russian roulette but with sushi and your stomach.

I love sushi, and I'm eat it anywhere, but you can always tell when it's fresh and not sitting on the belt. This was one of the best I've had in the Portland area. The customer service is on point and the space is well lit. Everything was very clean and hospitable all around. The jalapeño popper sushi was my favorite! Check them out!

This was my first time going into this restaurant I usually go to GEN sushi but I wanted to give this place a try since I was doing some shopping in the area. The waitress was very kind and helpful, and took her time explaining a bunch of rolls. But they didn’t have one that I usually get at GEN Sushi, so she offered to make it she did stated that she’s not too sure if switching the crab salad with the crab stick will switch in price, but she said she would ask the chefs. I also told her that I needed To know how long it’ll be because I needed to get these rolls out to my family for dinner. As she was explaining the rolls for the cooks., I’m not sure if she was the manager or the owner, but she went in and was talking to all of them. And I could see a change in everyone’s mood. The waitress came back and told me that it would be A 50 Cent charge extra per plate I ordered. I refused thinking I would stick with the crab salad. She gave me a timestamp, and she said if I could wait to pay so she could charge me for boxes later. I had never payed in boxes for GEN Sushi. But seeing if it was $.50, I didn’t sand to make a fuss. As she was getting me situated with the sauces, that was going to take home, the other lady working the floor (manager/owner) yells at her from across the restaurant and tell her that it was going to be three boxes charge. Of course I could tell this waitress was a sweet girl. And asked me if I wanted to pay ahead. Considering that I was in a rush, I said yes. Now remember that manager/restaurant owner, As I was getting a bottled Coke to go from the sweet waitress, when she comes in with my order and asked me if I need anything sauces to go. I kindly tell her that the waitress already helped me out. And My waitress was coming with my bag with all my sauces, and the other lady snatches the bag from her. I give the waitress a look and all she gives me is a tight smile. I felt so bad that I tipped her even more when she was charging me my soda. Feeling bad because this lady was treating her like trash. And that’s when she started yelling at her again, that She was supposed to charge me extra for the spicy mayo, In which she responded “yes but I did charge her three boxes like you told me to.” And then she went on a rampage about its only two spicy mayo per box. And I only had six spicy mayo. Clearly this lady can’t count because 3×2 is 6, The waitress told her that and clearly she got more upset. All of this conversation, she was yelling at her from across the restaurant, as the waitress was trying to check another lady out. Now I don’t know what kind of business. This is what this their managers/owner treats their employees behind closed doors if she is yelling at her poor waitress in the middle of the restaurant. That poor waitress is starting to tear up and walk away. I managed to say sorry to her as she responded that it was ok. The other lady just gives me my order tells me to have a good day. I felt obligated to come in here and say this. That is no way to treat your employees. And me as a customer felt like I was causing too much trouble for the waitress. I will never come back here again. Treat your employees better.

I'm updating my review because the new owners have really turned this restaurant around! The customer service was excellent, my mixed tempura came within minutes of ordering - which used to take 20 - 30 minutes. My husband enjoyed the calamari and miso soup among other sushi selections. We met the new owner, Jamy. She was very personable and explained some of the ways she gives back to the employees to make it fun to come to work. The food was delicious! I encourage you to support this local Gresham business and enjoy a good meal. There are choices for both sushi lovers and non-sushi lovers.

OLD POST:
We've been coming here for years. This is the first time people were leaving because they weren't being seated. We waited for several minutes before also leaving. They looked like they were short-staffed. If someone had at least acknowledged us and let us know that they're understaffed then we would have been willing to wait longer. There's normally a clipboard to sign in. There was no clipboard. The food is on a circular conveyor. The selections were sparse as we only saw one chef making the sushi plates.

I have been here a hundred times and never had a problem. This visit my son took a plate of fried shrimp and it was nice and crispy, you could tell it was fresh. He took a second plate and it was stale and nasty. The server said she could take it away and still charge me. I said no thanks, so she got the manager. The manager argued with me saying it was fresh and that she took it from the kitchen herself. I insisted that it wasn't fresh and she continued to argue that it was. Before she could finish her argument, my son proceeds to start vomiting violently on the floor while trying to get outside and continues to vomit 4 more times on the sidewalk. Very disappointed!

We were originally Sushiville fans and stopped going about 5 years ago. We have gone 3 times in the past 2 weeks to give the new ownership a try and just won't be going back. We eat sushi 1-2 x a week. Salmon nigiri is a favorite for us but something here has a chemical taste instead of the usual buttery flavor. Any rolls with something fried in it tasted like old oil. So many rolls have too much Sriracha on them which is just hiding the taste of the fish. If the owner is reading this, go get a salmon nigiri at gen sushi and then taste yours. Maybe you need to change your salmon supplier. We wish you well. We want nothing more to come back and have good food. It's just not there. The tuna tower is amazing. Don't change a thing on that one!!

I've been a lunchtime regular at Sushiville for 5 years. It's quick and easy and better than fast food, when you only have 30 minutes. The service has been so friendly and so fast. It was my favorite lunch spot near work.

There is a new (owner?) who is always checking in, to the point of being intrusive. But I figured she was eager and new at this, so give her time.

Last week I saw a new roll on the belt. I decided to try. I picked up a piece and asked what kind of fish it was. The chef told me it was white tuna. I said, "Albacore?" and he nodded. I dipped and ate one piece and it was good. I ate the second piece with no soy and realized it was very buttery and delicious, like escolar or Walu. So I asked again if this fish is actually escolar and not tuna, and the chef said "Yes, it's escolar" WHAT THE WHAT?!

Escolar is an oilfish, NOT A TUNA, and it causes food poisoning like symptoms in most people. The FDA recommends/requires that it is labeled with a warning in the USA, and many countries (including the fish capital, Japan) have banned it for human consumption.

Although the fish has a creamy smooth texture, it causes an uncontrollable leakage from the bum of this orange oil. So you may not know it's there unless you smell it, but other people will sure see it.
Diarrhea from eating escolar fish is called keriorrhea, which is a type of oily diarrhea. Other symptoms include:
Nausea
Vomiting
Abdominal cramps
Headache
Oily orange or yellow discharge
Loose bowel movements
Keriorrhea is caused by eating fish that contain indigestible wax esters, which accumulate in the rectum and are expelled as an oily discharge. The condition is not life threatening and usually resolves within 24 to 48 hours

HERE IS MY COMPLAINT. I asked first and was mislead. The new owner should be better educated about what she is serving in her restaurant. The servers were sorry when they found out this fish's effect on me (and most people). But the owner acted so offended that I was upset about my impending illness. She kept adamantly saying that they post about the risk of raw fish. That is irrelevant because escolar is toxic even when it is cooked. She did not offer anything to compensate, although I told her I would not pay $2.75 for the escolar, since I was misinformed. She just kept raising her voice and talking over me to the point that - I won't go there anymore.

I had to go buy giant pads to protect myself for these past two days, and I feel like I have food poisoning, with cramps and nausea and diarrhea.

After a couple plates, I had to leave. With a stomach ache. There are piles and piles of wasted WARM SUSHI rotating for who knows how long. I didn't see the guy standing behind the conveyor put up a single fresh plate while I was there. Hey! Did you know that fish that's been sitting out for too long can cause food poisoning? The kind that can send people to the hospital.

The wait staff were great. Very friendly and attentive. That's the only good thing I can say about this place. Sushiville, you fell off.

(P.S. Management, when many of your customer reviews are saying the same thing, maybe consider they didn't get the wrong location and that your business has a real problem.)

The sushi here is, at best, passable. But the pricing is really high compared to other sushi places with belts and for quality that is arguably not as good. If the ingredients were better or the price was lower I’d definitely frequent this place more, but when there are better alternatives really close by, it’s not my top choice. That being said, they do offer a wide variety of plates, service is fast and friendly, bathrooms are clean and there is ample seating.

Yikes. What has happened to Sushiville? What once was a decent go-to sushi spot has now taken a huge dive in quality. First off the quality of the food… really bad. Not “meh, I have had better but this was alright.” But “wow, that was utterly disappointing.” Their ginger has some sort of awful chemical tinge to it and is quite putrid. The fish is bland and has no flavor to it anymore which makes me wonder if they’re holding onto their inventory longer than the shelf life dictates. And finally after all that, I have noticed their portions are much smaller than they once were. I was an avid patron to Sushiville for years, regularly stopping in at least a few times a month. Now after 3 visits in a row with the above mentioned problems, I am done. Three strikes and you’re out. I am not sure what their issue is but if the owner is reading this, I hope some improvements come. Ohh and dust your track lighting above the conveyor belt. Dust bunnies have definitely fallen down to the below tables while dining. Yuck.

The bathrooms are disgusting. Plua chairs in hallway block wheelchairs users. When a restaurant has such little care about visibile rooms like the bathroom tobthe customer one could only imagine what the back kitchen looks like.

But tons of dead bugs in ceiling lights, poop on walls, broken toilet, no toilet lid, mold, broken sink, missing shelves. I find it all very gross considering they are selling raw fish.

Visited this restaurant 7/12/2023 , ..having sampled many Sushi bars between Asia and America , I sadly write my experience and opinion ....this was hands down the worst SUSHI dining experience I've ever had , ...the sushi was room temperature on a long unchilled central conveyor belt system under clear plastic serving plates in an un-air conditioned restaurant ...or maybe the AC was broken or turned down ....I don't know for sure but I actually refused eating my choice of sushi after the first bite which they didn't charge me for .....and left .....I left and went to another local sushi bar which makes it Infront of you , it was flavorful , savory , light and tasted great .

However, I would like to warn others. A man left without paying after staring at us while eating. The waitress took his plates, added them to ours, and charged us gratuity for the whole meal. She said they were not being included, only being moved over.
30 plates at $3.25 (pink) would be almost $100. We had mostly blue, green, and orange plates, which are cheaper. That and 1 soda was $120.
Might have been a horrible mistake, but what can you do when you are checking out and the plates are moved around?

Decent if you know what to stick to (if it would work on a sandwich, it's usually safe AKA tuna salad, crab stick or salad, avocado) The rice is usually dense from being too wet or overhandled. Either way, I would never get raw fish here.
The mackerel/saba was chewy, smelly and freezer-burnt. The salmon doesn't have much flavor and the cuts are skimpy (and it was $3.25+ for the plate!).

This place used to be a lot better. Very middle of the road sushi with prices that are way too high compared to other local conveyor belt Sushi joints.

I felt pressured and harassed to order something off the menu. While I was eating food in front of me, I was asked 4 different times (by 3 different people) within a 15-minute period if I wanted to order something. The third time I was asked I said "I don't want to order anything, I would just like to be left alone so I can eat my food" and within 5 minutes someone else came over and asked me if I wanted to order anything additional off the menu.

A little while later two of the ladies started whispering about me, and if it wasn't already obvious enough, it became obvious when she nodded her head at me as to indicate who she was talking about.

The way I was treated for simply wanting a semi peaceful dinner was obsurd! I will never come back here!

And we do takeout every Friday and it sometimes takes over 25 attempts to call them to order because they do not answer the phone if they are too busy. They also almost always mess up the take out order every time. Gen Sushi is open for dine-in, and honestly the food is better, they also answer the phone on a timely basis, they do not screw up orders and their prices are better.

Not really sure how people eat here. Do yourself a favor, your taste buds and your stomach and drive 6 more minutes to GEN SUSHI. That place will give you some quality sushi and fair prices. Fish will be fresh as well as the fried foods. The miso soup here was very strong, onions flavor and salty. I'm glad I know now not to ever come here.

Eat at your own risk:
Sushi is left on the belts too long, may result in spontaneous trouser chili lasting up to 48 hours.

Service was wonderful though, real friendly and attentive.

I have been visiting this restaurant since I was a child. It is a family favorite and now I bring all of my friends here. I love the variety and the control in taste. A lot of their sushi here is really good, and there has never been an item I have disliked. When you special order items, they come extremely hot and fresh. I also love that you are allowed to take home as much food as you wish. These prices are the cheapest I have ever seen for a sushi conveyor and I usually only spend $40 maximum. I will always recommend this place to sushi lovers. It is also genuinely a really great place to hang out because of all the nearby shops.

I the food is great! But I really hate finding pieces of other sushi in my food. I'm a vegan so whenever there's meat or the fish eggs it's really frustrating, and it's so consistent I just expect it to always happen. It really worries me about cleanliness.

A sushi go round!

If you have not tried conveyor belt Sushi this is a great place to start. The sushi prep happens right in front of you so you know that it's fresh and well made.

Each item is on a colored plate, and up on the wall is a clearer picture of how much each plate you take off the conveyor belt will cost. No guessing about any surprise expenses when it comes time to settle the bill. Just neatly stack up your lids and plates and when it's time to go they'll count them up and you're on your way.

My favorite thing about this restaurant is a person can almost always go in, sit down, and immediately start eating without having to wait to order. If you only have a half hour for lunch and then you will be able to eat your fill and be done quite quickly.

There is also a menu of certain entrees, Sashimi, as well as drinks. Just remember that if you pick it up then it is your plate, don't make the mistake of trying to put things back on the conveyor belt.

Often times when my wife and I order large to go orders they are missing multiple plates worth of sushi. (Easily $6-8 worth of sushi)
This is a pretty big deal for us because we almost never can afford to eat out. Also the salmon is our food based antidepressant so this literally makes us sad.

They have also attempted to pressure my wife into paying twice because they were either oblivious or malicious. Threw away her receipt after she directly asked for it. Well lying to her face and saying it didn't print. Then also accused her of not asking.

It’s a convenience factor for me. The sushi is ok, the options are blah nearly 1/2 the time on the belt. So you need to order. Service is spotty and the daunting owner who walks around standing over the workers shoulder…why do you do that? It’s freakin weird and I’ve seen you do it nearly 10 diff occasions. Learn to trust your people and let ‘em work.

It’s a bit ridiculous to tell me and my husband that you can’t let us dine inside when we just drove 9 mi through the snow and there’s still 40 min left until you close. We just wasted our time and gas and there’s no reasonable excuse for it esp since the entire parking lot was absolutely empty 😩😩(Btw this is not a mask or vaccination issue, we are fully vaccinated and wore masks. We were simply told that we can grab “to go” boxes and pick sushi off the belt. You just lost our business forever and missed out on selling the sushi you now probably have to throw away. Very upset. We will never be returning here again. This use to be our favorite spot. I’m absolutely starving now and now it’s getting too late to drive anywhere else that isn’t fast food.

Food is great, best sushi around here. But calling them to place an order is like winning the lottery. 80% of the time they don't pick up. Then you wait in line to place an order and once you tell them you want to place an order they push you aside to ring out the customers and once there's no one left to ring out they get to you and then spend that 30 seconds to write down your order. Just annoying. Other than that the food is great.

Well… what can I say? The staff was inattentive but nice enough…

The sushi though… Until I ate here, I used to think even bad sushi was still pretty good…

(For reference, both my brothers are sushi chefs, and one of them is the head chef at his restaurant.)

Of course I didn’t expect them to meet fine dining standards as the kind of place that serves sushi on a conveyor belt, but I at least assumed the sushi would be decent.

Firstly, the rice was so soggy, and they used so much of it per roll that it completely washed out any chances of tasting the actual fish. But as if there were any chance to taste the fish anyway, to make sure you don’t, they completely drowned the rolls in whatever sauce each roll had. (It’s supposed to be a drizzle, folks.) I couldn’t even finish eating it. And that’s saying something because I am not all that picky, and I usually like to dip my rolls in extra sauce (sometimes).

Also, I typically judge a sushi place by their ginger. I don’t particularly favor the pink ginger but I’ll eat it if it looks fresh. This ginger was barely pink anymore, it looked so old. I ate around the browning parts of the ginger just so I could get the taste of those poor rolls out of my mouth.

Lastly, plating. Okay it’s a subpar sushi restaurant sure, but you’d think actually making sure the rolls are cut all the way would be a bare minimum. I had to separate them with my hands and it took some force to get through the nori. The rolls were so hastily slapped together they all fell apart when I tried to eat them. Whether that was because of the soggy rice or the careless rolling doesn’t make a difference. It was all around a terrible experience.

The wife and I went in to have dinner. We asked for a spot at the bar top but thier only available spots had yet to be cleaned so they seated us at a table. As we sat down and began to prepare to get food the waitress told us that If a group of three came in they would have to move us to the bar. I told her that I wasn't going to move in the middle of my meal. She insisted that the tables were for groups of three our more and we would have to move if a group came in. I did not request a table and actually prefer to sit at the bar so we opted to leave and eat elsewhere instead of being moved mid-meal.
I have eaten at this place many times before and have enjoyed it but to expect that I will move during my meal, from the place that they chose to seat me, is just poor customer service. I will not be returning.

I've walked out of this place about 10 times, cleaning tables seems to be more important than seating customers. Five minutes is my limit and then I'm gone. They still kept reduced seating and made people wait even when restrictions were over and space was available. They made customers wait to pay while taking money out of the till, maybe they were scrapping bottom on money.
