Outpost of a regional Japanese chain offering creative sushi & hot dishes in an unassuming space.
I love this place! It is one of my must stop to visit places in Bend. Food was perfect and the prices were not bad, or pricy. The staff was pretty fast and the chefs did an amazing job. Most of their stuff is gluten free and they use gluten free soy sauces in their house sauces! That is one of the reasons why i chose them and I was so happy that i could get Chicken Teriyaki and not worry about gluten!

Mio had a restaurant in Eugene, Oregon. My son brought home a roll of Bubble Bubble and dared me to eat one. At the time, I was disgusted at the thought. But then I tried it. Love at first bite! We spent many happy meals at Mio until they closed! Nothing comes close to that roll. I discovered that there is a Mio in Portland and in Bend, Oregon. I went with a coworker, and I ordered the Bubble Bubble. I fretted that maybe it wouldn't taste the same. Imagine the joy of my taste buds as I savored that first bite! Happiness! I love Mio!

I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant for the longest time and now I finally have. The atmosphere was good, I loved the style of the restaurant. The food was good, and my daughter loved the ramen. My only issue, which really made me not enjoy the experience to the fullest, was unfortunately the customer service. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated which is a normal amount of time, but it was not very busy, tables were open, and employees were walking around but we weren't acknowledged until we were seated. We then waited an additional 35-40 minutes to receive our drinks and put our order in. We waited about another 30 minutes to receive our food afterwards, and our server didn't check on us until we flagged them down for the check. If I saw it was busy, it wouldn't be a problem at all, but we spent most of our time just waiting and not feeling like our presence was unwanted.

The main woman here couldn't even show us to our table, wasn't very nice and acted like she didn't want to be there... Took forever to get change back because apparently they were out of certain bills, gave us shit for not leaving a tip immediately... When we pullout out our wallets was the most excited and upbeat the lady sounded... Definitely wouldn't recommend this place again

A dependable place for some pretty good sushi. The price does add up pretty quickly, my boyfriend and I spent $65(before tip) for just the two of us. The service staff is very friendly and kind. This time around we got mango iced teas which were really good and came with boba straws because the tea had real chunks of mango, it was quite sweet though. Overall a decent sushi spot.

What a disappointment. Perfect example of not having enough employees to cover all the customers. We eventually got seated, server took our order, appetizers, main course came at the same time and she never returned to our table. Other customers were having similar issues but instead of limiting table service and making a wait list, why not get greedy and seat everyone and serve no one.

I went to Mio Sushi in Bend with my husband, who is celiac. We were looking for gluten-free options, and the website listed gluten-free teriyaki as an option. However, when we arrived, we were told that they don't have gluten-free teriyaki. We also asked for more time to look through the sushi options, but the waiter never came back.
Overall, we had a terrible experience at Moo Sushi. The staff was not helpful and accommodating, and the food was not what we were expecting. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone with celiac disease or anyone looking for a good dining experience.

Worst restaurant in Bend. I've waited for 30 minutes, they simply ignore people. The spicy salmon roll cannot be considered sushi, it's a minced mix of who knows what.

We usually LOVE MIO so it's with heavy hearts the new management is drowning the service and food the portions are smaller and more expensive ( despite what the photos in the menu show) and the one waitress that's there is rigid and rude. We won't be going back and we are so sad ! Goodbye to our 2 years of consistency which is so hard to find in bend. Death to another great restaraunt because of venture capitalism

Me, my friend, and his gf went into this place called Mio Sushi in the old mill area. We sat down, waited, and we were only presented with a food menu, not their drink menu. Then we waited 10 - 15 minutes before they asked us what we wanted to drink, and then 20 - 30 more minutes on what we wanted to eat. Waiting for the food was expected which I didn't mind, but after me and his gf got our bento boxes, my other friend waited around 10 - 15 more minutes before receiving his food (he ordered raw fish that does not need to be cooked). After that we ate, waited, then asked for boxes, and then the waitresses didn't even ask about us wanting to receive our checks so we did after like 5 - 10 minutes we had to wave them down. Keep this in mind the restaurant wasn't busy at all, even on a holiday like Halloween, and for our mishap they offered us senzu beans on the house, which was later put on the bill, and we asked about that, and they took it off, and charged my friend 5 dollars for strawberry lemonade that was originally 2.75. At this point we were already late to our movie, and the service, and dining experience was the worst I've had, and that's surprising to say about a restaurant that's in the old mill district.

I’ve been eating here regularly for about a year. Generally good, but got sick after putting in my order to go at 2:38, picked up at 3p. Called 2 hours later after getting quickly ill (both wife and I got puking).
Waitress said on the phone that it’s not possible because the order was “picked up” at 430p, which is not true as we picked it up at 3p.

I found this to be an average and unexceptional restaurant.
The bento I ordered was both over cooked (chicken) and under cooked (tempura). The service was slow and not terribly friendly.
This location deserves better.

I had high hopes for Mio Sushi because the food was actually delicious, but unfortunately, the service was a complete letdown.
First off, we weren’t even offered water, which should be basic in any dining experience. On top of that, they got our order wrong, which caused unnecessary delays. Throughout the meal, no one checked in on us—not to ask how the food was or if we needed anything else. We felt completely ignored.
To top it all off, when we finally finished, we were heckled about not leaving a large enough tip. “You guys work in the service industry and only tip this much?” Then proceeded to laugh and say the tip out loud at the table. The nerve of the staff after such poor service was shocking. I came for a good meal, not to be harassed.
Sadly, despite the good food, the terrible service will make me think twice before returning.

I just wanted to go to sushi with my friend because she’s leaving so soon and I’m gonna miss her so much. We ordered a lot of sushi because both of our parents asked us when we left to bring them sushi when my friend went to the bathroom. The lady came up to me and told me that I ordered too much food. I asked if they were about to close soon that’s why she just said no and that I ordered too much food and that I would be too full and that I was fat. even though I’m an eighty nine pound sixteen year I have a severe eating and I have not eaten in days and she has the nerve to say this to me. I then take a few things off of what I wanted to get from the menu we get our food and then she tells me that I ate my food too fast considering I have ate in a few days I mean, I feel like I ate at a pretty good pace, I had leftovers and I said that I knew that I was saving it for my family after we get the bill we pay the exact amount and then I leave a six dollar tip. She tells me that that wasn’t enough and that I need to tip more and I told her I already put a tip and she said she knew but it wasn’t enough and made me tip 10 more dollars and total they got a $16 tip that they didn’t deserve and now my stomach hurts and the food wasn’t even that good and I wish I didn’t spend my four days or not eating on that and now I have to start myself for another seven days because of this place of this place. I will in fact it not be coming back to me sushi let’s also talk about how the mio soup was so salty that I had to drink so much water and I’m gonna feel so dehydrated in the morning with a puffy face for one of the first weeks school will not be coming back and I do not accept this environment

First of all food was good, waitress very rude, walked in she said "sit over there" and pointed where she wanted us. There were 5 of us, one being a child. Was told there would be a 18% tip because we had 5 people. She was very slow to wait on us and take our order. Food finally came, she never came back to check on us, had to ask another waiter for the bill. There was a $20 tip added to our bill for 0 service, rediculious, will never go back and will tell others the same.

If you like Asian food, eat somewhere else. The sushi was mid at best. The udon was trash and the ramen was like eating chalk. Service was non existent. We wound up getting drinks and our check from the busser because the waitress could be bothered.

Came with my family on Sunday and when we got there at around 5:30 there was not that much people. However this is a bad review because we waited 45 just for our appetizer which just ended up coming with the rest of the food even though people who had gotten sat 10 minutes after us would have their food served in around 20 minutes. I ordered the k ramen along with my brother and it was instant noodles basically with slices of beef. Service and food was pretty bad I would understand an hour wait for a 5-star restaurant but this was beyond unacceptable. I don’t recommend unless you have time to wait.

Mio Sushi on Bend in the Old Mill District:
There’s no way to sugar coat this. AWFUL. Worst sushi I have ever had. We eat sushi at least 3x a month. This was some of the worst. The service was equally terrible and the server was very rude.
Visited 8 months ago
Decent sushi. One server was polite and he checked on us a couple times. The other server seemed to have disdain for customers. She never greeted us or anything, just started naming drinks. She added rolls to our order in a word salad then scurried off, informed us we were only getting one check without asking, and said we can look over the bill after we pay after about 3 seconds of looking at it. Because of their policy for parties of 6 or more, she automatically got a 20% tip despite never refilling our waters and only bringing out a couple plates of sushi rolls at once. They weren’t busy, we didn’t ask for much, behave inappropriately, or make a fuss about anything; she just didn’t care to make our experience anything like a normal restaurant. I won’t go back specifically because of her.

This was always an annual visit, but we were so disappointed yesterday we won't be back.
The sushi rolls were way expensive for the quality and the deep fried crab was overcooked. The waitress was training and she was pleasant and polite, but her trainer was rushed and then it seemed like the trainer was pushing for the tip at the end of the meal. The menus have changed and don't show prices on the rolls anymore, so we were shocked by the bill.
For the price, go to Okawa's instead.

Having heard glowing reviews of Mio Sushi, I ventured there with high hopes, eager to indulge in some authentic Japanese cuisine. However, my experience at this establishment left much to be desired.
Let's start with the service—or lack thereof. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the staff were overwhelmed and understaffed. Despite the sparse crowd, it took an eternity to be acknowledged and seated. Once seated, our waiter was nowhere to be found, leaving us to flag down passing servers for even the most basic requests. The lack of attentiveness and professionalism was truly disappointing.
And then there was the wait. Oh, the endless wait. I understand that good food takes time, but the interminable delay between placing our order and receiving our sushi was utterly unacceptable. It seemed as though the kitchen was operating at a snail's pace, with no sense of urgency or efficiency. By the time our food finally arrived, my appetite had all but vanished, replaced by frustration and impatience.
As for the food itself, it was passable at best. While some dishes showed promise, others fell flat, lacking the freshness and flavor that one would expect from a reputable sushi restaurant. Perhaps if the service had been more attentive and the wait more bearable, I would have been more forgiving of the mediocre fare.
In conclusion, my visit to Mio Sushi was a regrettable experience marred by subpar service and excruciatingly long wait times. While the restaurant may have its loyal fans, I cannot in good conscience recommend it to others based on my disappointing encounter.

The server has only come over to our table three or four times, drops miso soup in water, gave us half of our food at a time, took forever to even come over to our table to order. Just started making our food after asking where the other half of our food was after the server asked if we were ready for the check.

Please don’t waste your time. The wonderful manager is gone and everything is absolutely terrible now. Our server literally left in the middle of our lunch, didn’t let us know…we had to ask the busser to help fix our messed up food order. He couldn’t, but he did comp the mess ups. Food was horrendous. And, mid lunch, the sushi chef went outside, smoked, then threw his butt on the ground and went immediately back behind the sushi bar. No hand washing at all. I’ve worked in restaurants for 31 years and this is the very first time I didn’t tip. It was over the top disgusting and horrendous. Even if the food was as disgusting as it was, I would have tipped 20% to the server. But, he literally left….no heads up or anything.

Deplorable Service! Would never recommend Mio Sushi!!
Hands down, the WORST service I have ever had. That was our experience at Mio Sushi. While we were seated and given menus relatively quickly, we were completely ignored the rest of the time. We waited 10 minutes for the waiter to come back out, when he did finally reappear, he brought out food for the table right next to us and just walked away without a word. No water, no checking to see if we were ready, no “I’ll be right with you”, he just walked away. We waited another five plus minutes and decided we didn’t want to deal with this kind of service.
When I went to the bar and told the staff behind it that we were leaving because the waiter never came back, never did anything, the waiter heard us and started shouting “I’m the only waiter working, there is only one of me!” He just kept repeating that as I tried to explain that he could have at least brought us a water or even just told us that he was the only one when he sat us. He just kept repeating that he was the only waiter and then put up both hands and started waving them and saying “bye, bye now”.
The absolute disregard for customers from this guy and that level of disrespect for customers is astounding. Add to that the fact that he only had customers at four other tables. Seriously, you can’t cover five tables?
No, I would not recommend Mio Sushi even if they have great food, because their service is deplorable!!

This mío sushi has fallen off, me and my girlfriend went in and were sat immediately, our waiter was a big fella with a pony tail. He was very quiet and not very friendly, it took almost 20 minutes for him to get us our drinks and water while we had already ordered before that, he never ones offered to refill our waters, or soda. Our food was brought out to us and it took about 5 minutes just to grab a sushi plate. Food was good besides our spider roll the crab was bad and or overcooked it was nasty, our waiter then took forever to bring the check as we where sitting there with no food drinks or water, I don’t think we will be coming back. Or recommend this place because of the horrible service.

The food is usually alright. However today I ordered 3 rolls over doordash and the one with cucumber in it tasted kind of rotten. 🥴 I know it’s winter and produce is tough to get fresh, but I think they used cucumber that should have been wasted instead. My other food was good (considering it was delivered not fresh) but that one roll was pretty gross.

I have been to several Mio Sushi establishments in the Portland metropolitan area, and this location several hours away still holds up to the same quality of food at the other places. I've always enjoyed the beef udon and green tea. My family was a bit disappointed that this one does not have green tea calamari like other Mio Sushis we have been to, but we also understand that different locations offer different specialties. The service was pretty quick and the restaurant was clean. The food offered is of a good price for what you get. It's a reliable place to eat out, either alone or with others.

For what they charged me I could have gone to a nice sushi place. The food is mediocre at best, staff just stares at you. Brought cans of soda in my glass of ice so the bottom of the can touched all the ice that's yummy, charged 3 dollars for a glass of soda and yet they couldn't even remember to give us plates to eat on. I've never spent less time in a sushi place and been left not full. Do yourself a favor and skip this place and go a little further up the road to Shensi. Better quality, atmosphere and prices. Never again.

The place is cozy and well tidy, clean, bathroom has a table to change diapers that are great, however, The service was horrible, we waited 35 minutes for the food, the rolls They weren't tasty, every time I went to get a roll It shattered because the rice was not done correctly so it didn't stick it was simply crumbled.
The only one we liked and it was very tasty was the salmon niguiri cooked.Unfortunately this place is expensive, it does not have good service and food is not good.
If you are looking for a good place to eat sushi, sorry, but you need to go somewhere else.

Pre-covid I would have reviewed the food as 4 stars. However, now prices are up, quality and quantity are down. It is clear that they are trying to recover from some extreme losses. But don't let that stop you from visiting. You still get acceptable quality, the atmosphere is good and it is in the perfect date night location. Grab some over priced sushi and an over priced movie to show your loved one you care. My advise is simply plan for it. Make a nice evening of it and set your expectations accordingly. Remember the Old Mill district charges businesses an arm and a leg to operate so covid had an extremely heavy impact on them. I am glad to still have the offering we do in the area and hope by visiting they will eventually be able to return to their previous level of quality!

Nothing was fresh, not even the rice. I suspect the rice was day old, revived with rice vinegar, sugar and salt. They packed the Chirashi bowl with seafood which was nice but something smelled off. Sushi, fresh sushi, should never smell "fishy".
The booth they sat us in was broken or just so old and worn that it almost touched the floor. Bend must have a better place to get sushi than here.
PS, the tamago was so sweet it was inedible. 🤷🏼♂️

Good and very consistent

We love their Bento boxes! Miso soup, Gyozas, spicy tuna or salmon sushi, salad, and chicken teriyaki. One downside, I think there's too much teriyaki sauce which is a bit of the sweet side. I could go for less sauce, but besides that we love it!

Good sushi with a fun atmosphere. Conveniently located in the old mill.

I just ate here an ordered the octopus appetizer. It was okay but it was the best part of the meal. I then ordered the tonketsu ramen. Only came with 2 small pieces of pork, the eggs weren't really done right in the traditional way so they were really bland, and then the noodles and broth itself was really bland. Really unsatisfied meal but I still had to pay for it. I ate the 2 pieces of meat and ate a few bites of the noodles. Did not help to drench it in soy sauce. I'm very unhappy. I don't feel like I was really treated right at all. The servers were nice but I should've got a refund on the entree. They even asked how it was and i told them i didnt enjoy it and theyre like oh bummer..... like really??? I even tipped still too. I don't even live here and back home, we have better tonketsu ramen. After that, it's hard to see what's so great about that place. Very irritated.

Some of the fish tasted fishy. The service was good then bad. The rice was dry. This neighborhood is all flash no quality.

Great sushi. Big pieces of nigiri. They allow substitutions.

I am not often too critical...but when i see flies in a sushi joint, its a not a good thing. But on a positive note, the Beef Yakiniku was good...tender beef with great flavor.

She wouldn't let me finish my water 😔
She kept refilling it right when I was so close

Sushi quality and ingredient quality was not great

Went there last night and it was the worst sushi I've ever had. The rice wasn't cooked properly, it fell apart, and the fish wasn't fresh. Plus, the waitress let our sushi sit a while before bringing it to us. Wasn't worth the money and never plan on going back.

Ok, so I like Sushi and a bit picky. Having said that.... this was a great experience. Extremely fresh, light and full of flavor. Service was top notch, and quick. Very good experience!

Giving only 3 stars due to the combo not being great. Almost $30 and I don't know for what. Felt like it was rip off. Highly suggesting to avoid combos.

Forgot to take photos of our rolls and ramen. We got take out. Just average tasting. There was no wow factor to the flavors. Everything was just okay. This is far from the best and far from the worst sushi I have ever said. So, this is a good spot to go if you want to be safe and not doing anything too adventurous. 3 rolls, 2 hand rolls, an appetizer, 2 pieces of nigiri, and a bowl of ramen for $98 before tip and was just more than enough food to fill up 3 of us.

I know I should be greatful to people who are at least working… but not at the cost of my husbands life. We ate here 5 days ago, I got food poisoning in the most horrific way and my husband had to go to the ER today because he ate more than I did and has been cripplingly sick everyday since and has lost 15 lbs. I’m going to report this restaurant to the health inspector.
I guess cleanliness is yet another price we pay for inflation.

Met up with my son and daughter in law from Seattle and my kids here local. We met at Mio Sushi. The service and sushi was great. My son from Seattle said that he was very happy as the sushi was better than what they find in Seattle.

Had such a terrific time enjoying ramen & sushi at Mio. I had a huge bowl of ramen and was really impressed by the quality of the meat and broth while my date was thrilled it had naruto which is a thing, I guess.
The highlight for me was an amazing sushizza. Basically an unrolled baked sushi with whitefish and salmon. Absolutely delicious. We rounded out the meal with tempura and left full & happy.
Servers were friendly and attentive on a pretty busy (but not too busy) evening.

Love MIO sushi!!! My wife and I grab sushi weekly from here!! Always a 10/10 quality and some of the friendliest staff around! We absolutely love eating here, it’s simply the best, and we’ve tried ALOT of sushi places but only eat at MIO these days!
Thanks everyone for your amazing food & service!!!

Cold house tea tasted like lukewarm water. Over priced and just tasteless.

Fish wasn't fresh... Buyer beware. Save your money and hit up Chi, 5 Fusion, or Kanpai. I dropped a bill and I'm angry with myself...especially since it was my daughter's birthday. Place isn't clean either. Here is a photo of the lamp that was above our table... It was packed with dead bugs and cobwebs. I noticed it at the end of my meal and I could help but think that this was above our food the whole time. Total bummer. Staff was cool, I hooked them up with a phat tip... I know a lot of Mio sushi's problems aren't their fault.

First time we have ever ordered takeout and not been able to eat the food. Very disappointing seeing the other reviews. Udon broth was unpleasant, sushi was very slimy, and the veggie gyoza filling was unappetizing.
