My favorite Japanese restaurant in Oregon. My boyfriend and I ordered the karaage don. The drinks are delicious as well. I recommend the calpico sodas. This time I got the yuzu calpico soda. Definitely, look no further if you’re craving Japanese food. The service is always fast!

Always a good sign when Asians are eating at a sushi place! The sushi was good, the fries awesome, but the broth in the ramen was top notch! The veggie tempera the table next to order looked phenomenal. It's fun to see some of the orders delivered by a robot. You can use their app to order or order with the server if dining in. The restrooms could use some sprucing and the small parking lot was jam packed, but that's probably because of the Koreon restaurant and bubble tea next door as well. This was definitely some of the best sushi I've had in awhile, but the ramen was even better. 👌

We came here for dinner as it was a quick option for us as the other restaurant was pretty busy. It's been a while since I've been here. The place is spacious with tables spread out. The place seems to be family friendly. They also have a robot serving some of the dishes. We ordered some small items to share, and I had the pork katsu Don. The dish was good in size, and the meat was good. My friends also enjoyed their meal, which included a charashi don and other items.

Delicious food. Sushi was fresh and well made. Ramen was oh so good! Best of all was the service. Our waitress was amazing. She was the only one working that day but I truly didn’t even notice because service was still smooth and she was attentive the whole time. If I could give her 6/5 stars I would :)

Been here several times now, and we still don’t understand why the wait time is long. It takes 10 minutes for our server to take our order (we came right at opening) and another 35-40 to get our food. While the Togo orders are flying out of the kitchen. The food is good that’s why we keep coming back, but every time we go we feel forgotten despite the fact we sit right in front of where the servers are. Hopefully they’ll fix the issue, but it’s been 3-4 times since we came and nothing really changes. 🤷🏻♀️

Food was pretty good but the service was awful. They brought part of the order for ones in our group and only when they had finished eating, they brought meals for the rest. They forgot to bring one dish, confused noodles with rice in another and brought the order for different people in one plate. And the "icing on the cake" - they included a 20% tip in the bill! For what?? So even the fancy delivery robot didn't help. We will not go there again.

Always great food. Karagi Don, chicken skins, and ramen are amazing. Pork katsu don is great too.
Take a date, get a soda, and enjoy your evening with the robot.

2024 update! Very cozy izakaya-style restaurant. Highly recommended for a casual spot for drinks and great food, great for both couples and groups.
The staff is very friendly. Service is pretty fast, and it's easy to call someone over with the call buttons at the tables.
The tempura and skewers are always delicious! I also really enjoy the ramen, okonomiyali, and sushi. Everything is honestly pretty good, I haven't had any misses.
They do have a drink menu if you want alcohol, but you might need to ask for it.
The atmosphere is casual, not too fancy. It never feels too busy, just due to the generous space between tables. On quieter nights, I like to stay for a while and order lots of little things and drinks throughout the night. It's a great way to spend the evening with friends!

I almost never write reviews like this so I hope this is taken seriously.
We placed an online takeout order and came to pick it up shortly -after- the estimated time it’d be ready.
After standing at the front for a few minutes with no one acknowledging us, we finally check in with a server who lets us know our order will be “ready soon.” We didn’t mind waiting, there were only a few customers inside, but we get that kitchens can be busy.
About 10 minutes go by with no word. Finally, a different server comes out to tell us the kitchen “just saw our order,” so we’ll have to wait longer. Again we weren’t upset, just wished we had known when to come. The server offered me something to drink while we waited another 20 minutes. It’s important to note she phrased it to seem like the drink was to make up for the long wait, so I took her up on the offer. At no point did she or anyone else bring me a check or ask for payment for that drink, even after bringing us our to-go order. So, we presumed it was complementary and left (many restaurants, including ones I’ve worked at, do this sort of thing when customers are waiting).
A few hours later, I get a call from a random number at 11:30pm on a weeknight. I should’ve followed my instinct not to answer. To my surprise, it’s the server from earlier, calling at this hour to tell me she’s going over her open tickets and “forgot” to charge me for the drink she gave me. A $5 drink. I know first-hand how common and easy it is to just ask your manager to void a single item in a POS, and move on with your life. The manager even got on the phone himself to tell me “we don’t do complementary here.” Okay, I would have paid for it if anyone had asked me in person. But calling someone on their personal phone number late at night to hound them for their credit card number hours after the fact, instead of owning up to your multiple mistakes and making it right by your customers, is insane, unprofessional, and reflects poorly on you as a business.
We will not be ordering from here again and have encouraged all our friends in the Beaverton area to avoid this parade of clowns as well.
Also, the food was mid at best. Not even worth it.

Came with a group of 6 and they brought out one persons food at a time, we have been here an hour and 20 minutes and still one in our group hasn’t gotten his food. We were the only people here when we sat down, and someone else was served food before the last person at our table.

This is my go to for izakaya vibes in Cedar Hills. The food reminds me of when I lived in Japan and the atmosphere is similar to a Japanese spot you’d find on accident in a place like downtown Nagoya. Lots of vegetarian appetizers and entrees. Service is quick and the server robot makes my kid excited to eat here. Service can get slammed at times with to go orders and peak hours but overall they do a good job.

Was recommended to this sushi restaurant by a couple gals on the store, customer serve no best No water brought to the table right away, a mountain of menus to look through, then when I was ready to order and LOUDLY had to tell them because they didn’t come around they just want you to yell it. Had to ask for wasabi for my sushi which I always thought it was on the plate refardless.

I gave this place two chances. I first tried this place by ordering take out. I called and arrived in 45 minutes. I still had to wait another 25 minutes to get my ToGo order. They said they were backed up.
I then tried dinner in the restaurant and came in at around 8:20pm. We (a group of 3) were greeted in about 5 minutes. We sat down and given only 1 menu to look at. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Then we ordered our entrees. The beer took 15 minutes to come out. We weren't given any extra plates. We were only given two sauce plates instead of three for some reason. The appetizers never came. At this point, we're an hour in to dinner from the minute we sat down with only 4/10 dishes we ordered. We were so fed up that we just said forget the rest and just got our check. The server never checked up on us. She apologized and said that the kitchen was backed up. Backed up where?! There were literally only 5 tables out of like 20 in the whole damn restaurant and you have two servers. Where is the issue?! Never going here again.

Had lunch, and primarily ate sushi.
The rice was a bit on the harder side and did not have enough strength when putting together the rolls. When this happens, the rice tends to fall apart easily. Also, the salmon roe could be put into shoyu more before serving. It didn’t have much taste and was a bit fishy.
The amount of vinegar in rice was good and fish cuts was fresh. Comparable in taste to Syun Izakaya and probably cheaper. Would like to come back to try the ramen.
Would recommend for an easy sushi place.

This has been my daughter's go-to place for katsu don. We visited again for lunch today, and I felt like throwing up at the first bite.
The pork inside stank really bad from very old meat. Even my daughter couldn't eat a single bite.
I couldn't trust the quality of ingredients they were using anymore.
I returned the dish, but they still charged it on me. The server apologized and went into the kitchen to get confirmation from the owner. I could finally get out paying only for the ones that I actually ate.
And through the whole process, it was unbelievable that the owner/chef hadn't come out to say sorry at all--when we returned the dish, when it was falsely charged. It's a typical sushi restaurant where the chef is behind the bar area. She was just a couple of feet away but just glanced at me a few times when the server was talking to her.
Just to be clear, the server was quite attentive.
I will never ever revisit. Period.

I’m going to have to dispute it with the bank. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and dirty place will NEVER GO BACK. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
Visited a year ago
Calling to get a refund tomorrow because no manager could speak to me tonight. Or at least that’s what the servers said. For how expensive this place is you’d expect them to have higher quality packaging. I’ve never gotten sushi in a styrofoam box obviously trying to cut costs and not just with the packaging. Lots of pieces of fish were really fishy. I have been a waitress for years and putting stuff in the bag correctly is a big deal when it could spill everywhere or when they don’t want to pay for nicer packages. I live super close to this place and when I opened my box it was insane how messed up EVERYTHING was it was all over the place. The rice is unpeoportunate and different for every piece. Online order said to be there 8:33 got there at 8:15. Like I said I live very close and our pot stickers were literally freezing when we opened the box. Was probably made before I even ordered and just sent it home with us. They put miso and a tiny box under a huge box so the whole bag was tipping over when they even handed it to us. Extremely disappointed.

The food is really good BUT the Vegas roll was 14 dollars I would assume it would be large.. it was the size of a standard california roll. and the so called "giant" veggie roll was the same size as the Vegas roll .... so that was very disappointing. for the price we spent... we were still wanting more after we finished... pretty small rolls... probably won't buy from them on the sheer fact you don't really get very much.

We found the food tasty and the menu expansive — sitting near the front doors is a bit chilly in the winter, but otherwise the atmosphere is pleasant. Our whole table enjoyed the donburi very much, and our tempura platter was delightfully varied though the batter had an odd grittiness I haven’t experienced before. The salmon collar was succulent and delish. Human wait staff were friendly, and the robot who delivered our food was a fun novelty though generally less convenient than a server bringing us food directly, as we were working from assumptions about whose dish was whose. The sake menu looked pretty varied as well, but we weren’t drinking that night. The whole menu was on the pricey end, but the quality was there. I’m very interested to come back and try the udon!

I'm not so sure if this place is vegan friendly- some of the rolls are but as far as the gyoza or curry I would avoid it. They didn't seem too happy about being asked if certain things were vegan.

Finally found this gem! Lived in Cedar Hills for 5 years, and haven’t eaten here, but so glad I finally did. Ordered takeout around 9pm. Friendly and accommodating service, with very favorable prices for what I got!
Best Okonomiyaki I’ve had since “Izakaya” on Alberta closed. Delicious chicken katsu curry. Excellent salmon and yellowtail cuts especially with some ponzu sauce. The rice was perfectly fluffy. The only improvement I could think of was that I wanted a little more BBQ char flavor on the yaki skewers that can only be achieved using Binchōtan.

Sorry Kigaru, I was hoping you'd be my go to sushi spot in Beaverton. I've been there several times before and enjoyed the food and service but tonight you disappointed big time. I arrived to realize I was the only dine in customer. No problem. I figured service would be great and attentive. Then the wait staff started playing rock-scissors-paper to decide who would leave first. I was still optimistic after ordering the omakase. Dude dropped it off without saying anything. No pride in your omakase, chef? Whatever. Most pieces were great but one tasted like ammonia. Had to ditch that half way through chew. Won't be back. There are plenty of other places around to try.

A great izakaya and sushi place with fair portions and price. The chu-hi is a refreshing drink too try, yuzu fans go for it! Three takoyaki was perfect in every way; sushi dishes were fresh and well prepared. For first timers service was slightly confusing but it worked out. Ambiance is top tier. Kigaru offers a good set of Japanese street food, ramen, and sushi. It's something for everyone as long as you like Japanese food. The service can get a bit slow when it's crowded. It's mostly due to staffing shortages. I don't blame the business. It's more about finding employees. They do use serving robots to relieve the front staff, but it can still get stacked up.

The food was amazing and well done. The sashimi was done masterfully and with care. For the portion sizes it was well priced and filled me up. This experience just helps reinforce the idea that you have to truly look for the good restaurants. On a street where fast food and corporations dominate the main visual space tucked away is this fabulous restaurant. If you want a small taste of authentic Japanese cuisine, this is one of the places to go.

Was disappointed in our last 2 visits. The standard drops and food is not as good as it was in my previous reviews. My kakuni udon was lukewarm even when the kitchen was not busy. The sushi was alright. The braised pork was missing its mark. I have, once, describe it as cooking to perfection and melting in my mouth, but sadly not anymore. I am revising my review and rating in hope that the restaurant will pay attention to its quality control and regain customer's confidence.

Super find in the heart of Beaverton. Love their ramen. Their garlic tonkatsu is some of the best in the area and I’ve tried almost every place multiple times. It’s mushroom forward and not overly salty. The soft boiled egg was perfect, unlike some places that overcook the yolk. And the meat was really flavorful.
The garlic edamame are like crack.
Can’t comment on the sushi.
The ambience is a little casual, and could be improved but it’s fine.
Be advised they include gratuity on parties of 6 or more which I don’t prefer.

Delicious japanese restaurant, I highly recommend giving this place a try. We got Chicken Katsu Curry, pork gyoza, and tonkatsu shoyu Ramen. With agedashi tofu as a starter. Glad they stay open later than most sushi restaurants in the area! Will need to go back and try the ramen since that’s what a majority of the people around us were eating.

Had the Calamari and Spicy Miso Ramen. The fried calamari was crispy, salted well, and not too chewy. The dipping sauce that accompanied it was tasty and a good counter balance to the calamari. The ramen was spicier than I expected, but I usually order a 2/5 for spice level, so others might not find it that spicy. The pork in the ramen was crisped on the outside and melted in my mouth - delish. It also came with a soft boiled egg, bamboo shoots, green onion, and corn. This was my first time at Kigaru and I will be back! The service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant was clean.

The worst experience I’ve ever had. They only had QR menus but no service in the restaurant to actually look at the menu and it took 30 minutes to get them to bring us a menu and even longer before they brought us water. We ordered an appetizer and they had a robot server deliver it to our table but it didn’t have any small plates so we could share the appetizer. I got up and had to find a real person to ask for plates and when I asked they still took forever to bring us the plates and instead decided to bus another table first even though I just asked her for plates. I had to get up and ask her a second time after waiting 10 more minutes. They brought the food again with the robot but no one knew what sushi roll was theirs because there wasn’t a real person to tell us what was what. There were only two dishes for soy sauce instead of one for each person. The food itself was fine but not particularly good. Very subpar for sushi when there are so many other good sushi places for the same price. When we finally got our check we waited for them to come back and they never did so we had to get up and flag another person down. Worst experience never going back.

Veggie curry only had one vegetable, it was either carrots or sweet potatoes and only a few pieces...rice was also dry and hard

Wonderful place! Open till 11pm, took our last call orders at 1015, service was great! The robot delivering some of our food was so cool and efficient! I loved my dragon roll and Vegas roll and chicken karage and miso soup was bomb! This was my 2nd time dining in, and 4th time eating from here, I'll definitely be back! I love their ramen!

Great spot, fresh. Usually can walk-in no problem.

The food is always delicious but the service was a little slow. Asked twice for a water refill and never got it. Maybe it was a tiring night for them. Food still great!

Very good hole in the wall, open late and busy a 10pm, so you know it's a good spot. Servers were busy but attentive and very polite. Got the tuna roll that melted like butter when eaten (so good and tender) and I saw one of the cooks on break eating tempura platter so I ordered that out of principle that if the cook was eating it, it had to be good. Def did not disappoint and will definitely be back! So glad to have found a sushi place open later than 9pm! Thank you! 🙏

Staff was nice, but that's about all I can say positive about this place. Drinks didn't arrive until 30 min after we ordered and half of our food order didn't even make it. Me and my guest ordered the same rolls and both were put onto the same plate. Since a robot delivers your food, we didn't realize that all the rolls my guest ate were actually both our orders. When the server finally appeared an hour and half later, I inquired about my rolls and my guests other food, we were informed that both orders were on the same plate and the other food was never entered. Sadly will not be returning.

4.5!! We came with the intent of munching on some small bites. We ordered kakuni, gunkan negitoro, and salmon skin salad. The dishes were great. The kakuni was rich in flavor, but lacked the slow cooked tenderness. It had more bite, like it was simmered for a bit and then lightly grilled. The negitoro was umami, but I was not prepared for how cold it was. Maybe a matter of food safety? Still delicious!! Both the kakuni and negitoro were topped with delicate spring onion! Very refreshing. The salmon skin salad had light butter lettuce and a yummy sauce! We recommend :) Expect a light and homey ambience intended for long conversation.

Excellent sushi and service. A great small business well worth the visit. Plus, they have a robot waiter!

Absolutely Amazing, I got the garlic tonkatsu ramen with pork belly and cucumber salad(which I always recommend because its a perfect ramen companion, cold, crunchy and sweet) but the ramen noodles were fresh and chewy, the egg was *perfectly* cooked, the yolk still sightly runny, the broth was killer good, even for garlic ramen, I would buy it just to drink.
They do something that I've never seen before, I enjoyed it very much but I know some wouldn't, they put a little pile of slivered pickled ginger on all their ramens, I think it gave it an amazing extra flavor but it was a very strong ginger taste when you got them in a bite.
Overall amazing, highly recommend. Service was fast and friendly too!

Plan ahead mentally, physically, and logistically for the ridiculously long service time to enjoy this truly exquisite sushi.
I would love to give this place five stars. As a former sushi chef myself, I recognize the quality of the fish they use. The soy sauce they serve in house diners must be a special recipe as it has a smoky and umami flavor to it that soy sauce lacks. Their wasabi, not sure if it's real but it's a damn good imitation if it isn't. The sushi vinegar they use in their rice takes anything you order from basic to over the top.
BUT.... The service takes sooooooo long. Unreasonably long. Even beyond post-covid, quasi worker-strike long. I just didn't understand. Sat there for 15 minutes, before we reminded them we were there and would like to order.

The service was very slow and the food took too long. The server was friendly but wasn’t very good as she never cleared our table and kept forgetting what we asked for. The food was okay.

It's alright if you don't mind waiting- last night it seemed they were understaffed, and when I came in with my fiance, I think there were two large parties that might've upset the wait staff (not including the robot), so we'll try again another time- hopefully they can change my mind about their service.
Food was solid; nothing to rave about It's kinda the point of an izakaya where you're there to mostly drink alcohol and then have some small things on the side. Still, it has a cool atmosphere with the art and feeling you'd stepped in Japan, just not waiting to get your order started for 30+ mins after being seated.

Got the garlic tonkatusu ramen it was delicious, service was fast and pleasant. Having your food brought to you by a robot was fun and cute.

I ordered togo from here, and boy do I regret it. The ramens were inedible. The pork belly was tough and the noodles were so soft it was like chewing on nothing. The only thing good was the broth. I also ordered Uni and it’s very clear it wasn’t fresh. The texture was slimy and tasted very fishy with a brown color. The fries were soggy, like they’ve been frozen and baked. The takoyaki was very good though. They threw random pieces of ginger in there which was weird. Overall, not the best experience.

Sushi and tempura were ok. The udon broth was so sweet I almost couldn’t stand it. Most of our food came in styrofoam, which is enough for me not to patron again. Low rating because I’ve eaten at many Japanese restaurants in the area, who have much better food and don’t charge an average of $20 per dish. At those prices, I’d recommend going to a better quality restaurant. This place was a rip off.

Horrible customer service. The male server who wasn’t even our waiter to begin with accused us of claiming to be the victim when there was an order mishap. He tried to tell us we were wrong and needed to pay for a sushi roll they took away from us. His parents need to teach him some manners and his boss needs to work on training them on customer service but it seems the apple does not fall far from the tree…never will go back. The worst customer experience. Save yourself and go somewhere else. Too bad because the robot server is a nice touch but not with poor treatment of their customers.

Pros: open late.
Cons: staff seems beleaguered and undercompensated.
Grocery store sushi would be a better choice if that's an option.

As a Japanese this restaurant is the best place tasted like home in the US so far. I would definitely revisit.

I'm a regular here but last night I arrived before 10 asking to be seated which they said they don't accept any more dining in which is fine so we dicided to get it togo. We were waiting and ready to order and they decided to skip us and took the order from the guy whose just arrived. The tall asian server need to improve. I'm probably not going back.

Don’t order the bagel roll, uni or the bluefin tuna. Horrible customer service. I never complain about my food, but I have never seen a roll with more cucumber and cream cheese than salmon. I politely asked the waiter if I could substitute it out for a lesser priced roll or a newly made one. She sent someone else over and he stated that because I ate it, they couldn’t take it back. Of course I ate it. I didn’t realize that it didn’t have any fish until after I ate the end pieces. We ordered 7 rolls, the uni and bluefin tuna. It’s not like we were trying to get one over on them. Then they asked if I wanted a box. I said no. The waiter then proceeded to tell me I might as well take it home. Horrible customer service/value for money. Also, the uni was dark and did not look fresh.
