Super fun place. Be prepared to wait in a heinous line though. Make sure you put your name in at the kiosk or with a host at the front. Doesn’t matter what time of day you go - there will be a long wait. So just prepare for that.

Sushi is just okay. I’ve been to the Kura in Washington DC located in their china town and it puts kura sushi in Columbus to shame. Not sure if they just aren’t purchasing good fish or what but each time I have been, I’ve run into fish so tough that I’ve had to spit it out into a napkin.

That being said, I would recommend checking not out. You’ll likely enjoy yourself.

As someone who has dined here over 10 times in the past few months, here’s an honest opinion of what to expect at Kura Sushi.

Pros:
The food quality is consistently excellent—9/10. Many dishes taste spectacular, and it’s without a doubt one of the top sushi spots in Ohio. Everything tastes fresh, even though prices have slightly increased since opening.

Cons:
Be prepared for long wait times, especially during peak hours or weekends, as waits can go up to hour and a half. Once seated, it’s important to order drinks in large quantities because the servers rarely refill drinks promptly. A simple water refill can take up to an hour.

The seating design also has its flaws. If you’re not seated at the front of the conveyor belt, it’s unlikely you’ll get anything good from it, as they don’t replenish it often. Instead, focus on ordering customized dishes through the iPad, which ensures you get what you want.

Overall, the food makes up for these drawbacks, but the dining experience could be smoother. If you know what to expect, you’ll still enjoy a great meal!

It's a great experience to have the train of food around. The staff is very attentive to explain how everything works.
In my opinion the flavor wasn't that good, it didn't taste fresh to me. I didn't like the Miso soup.

Excellent first experience. You have options for ordering from the screen, your phone, or take from the conveyor. Do temper your expectations when limited items like the American waygu come around. It's not what the marbled A5 you see on social media. If it was, it would be $10 a piece. The plate prices and menu items are reasonable. If you are a big eater, it adds up quickly. My wife and I ended up paying $60 for lunch and were quite full. We were at the end of the line and found it was just as quick to order what we wanted. Staff were great and not intrusive. We were asked if this was our first time, so we could be informed of the process.

I absolutely love love love this place. The experience is amazing and unique. It is so fun and yummy. I love the cute robot. The sushi is soooo good We went off hours and was sat immediately. They really need a larger space to expand because they could explode with people if they could accommodate everyone. Oh and they have heated toilets!!!!

We went when it was fairlynew but on a slower day. Everything was good, though a few items were simply not available for whatever reason which was disappointing. I did see a waiter intentionally make a robot spill drinks for some reason though. Poor lil bot.

This was my third time at this location and definitely the last. I had a good experience the first two times, but I went yesterday a little before 5pm. Not crazy crowded, but the revolving sushi train was practically empty during my entire 40 minute visit. When I realized nothing was coming, I ordered a few items and it took 20 minutes for the first one to arrive. Meanwhile, someone else sat down a couple spaces over from me would order and her food was out in minutes. During my 40 minutes there, I ended up with only 4 items. The quality was just ok, but I chose this place thinking it would be quick. It definitely wasn’t.

The food is absolutely immaculate. The service is also immaculate. There is also a little robot that gives you your drinks! The atmosphere is also wonderful but at times it is a little noisy. Aside from that I recommend going here. Wether it's alone, with family, or with friends everyone will eat we'll be satisfied. 11\10 definitely recommend for you and your crew to stop here!

It is such a fun sushi experience!
I have many experience in eating sushi in the revolving sushi restaurants in Hong Kong and Japan. This restaurant is very close to what you would experience in Asia. The quality of the raw sushi is good in terms of the price they charge. However, in the peak hours, 80-90% of the conveyer belt is empty. Obviously the kitchen couldn't refill the conveyer belt quick enough. But luckily the delivery of the screen orders is quite fast. Therefore, you don't need to worry to wait too long for what you like to eat.

Of course, the robot delivering drinks is very fun. And there is toy rolling down for every 15 dishes consumed is surprising us too.

I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fun sushi experience.

But I wouldn't recommend ordering the ramen because the quality is not as good as the price it charges.

Food was okay but the conveyor belt was almost always empty (maybe saw 2-3 sushi rolls max the whole time while seated?). The only food that came was from ordering on the screen and even then it took a really long time, for example we began ordering immediately after sitting down and it came to us 25-30+ mins later.

Super slow service, almost nothing on the conveyor belt, and pretty mid experience overall.

I love that i dont have to commit to a whole sushi roll. You can try different ones for $3.60 a plate. It's good to budget how much you want to spend then divide the cost so you can pre plan your plates. My husband & I shared 8 plates. Some plates have 4 pieces while others only have 1 piece. Price point was good , but we actually ended up having to stop at chick fil a on the way home because the food we picked up was “eh” . Some of the food that was supposed to be warm wasn’t and vice versa. Green tea was undrinkable. Fun to try, kids enjoyed the experiment….Id rather go to a traditional sushi or ramen place next time.

This place is so cool!! Very Jetson-like. You can order from a “kiosk” at your table, OR you can snag a plate from the continuous conveyor belt. Non-alcoholic beverages are served via robot, too! Any non-conveyor food order is “slid” right to your table. Oh, and the plates from the sushi conveyor belt go thru this shute for cleanup and your plates are counted for your bill!! Incredibly awesome place to check out!

Having gone to many sushi bars and specifically kura sushi many times in Japan, Kura sushi in Ohio is almost indistinguishable from Kura sushi in Tokyo. The selection of dishes is more suited for an American palette, but other than that, the dining experience, ordering the plates, and the service was just what I would expect from this brand. I definitely recommend anyone wanting an authentic revolving sushi bar experience to try out the Kura sushi in Columbus.

Overall, I really liked my experience at kura. We got there a little bit early for the dinner crowd so the selection wasn't a lot on the conveyor belt but as the evening progressed there is definitely more options. Everything tasted super fresh presentation wise. It was nice. The service was awesome. I think for the value of the money you're paying per plate, it's pretty good. I absolutely loved the fried calamari, that would probably have to be my top favorite. I do think you can get better quality sushi elsewhere, but for the experience and the funness of the conveyor belt I would absolutely recommend this place. I'm definitely going to be going back. Hopefully in the future I will sit towards the front of the conveyor belt again. I did enjoy the little animation that popped up when you put your plates in and after so many you got a free gift. Definitely check it out if you're looking for something fun a little different and if you like sushi. That being said, there are other options that are not sushi so if somebody can't do the raw options there 's plenty of other things to pick from

Sushi Experience №100

The staff here is amazingly nice and the food is GREAT! The wait is usually long, so know that before you go, but you can join the waitlist online before you reach the restaurant to cut down on time. There are only so many tables, but waiting for one is more than worth it. The staff are also very attentive, and even come to check on ypur table personally even though they have robots and a conveyor belt to automate table service. You really get the feeling that the staff care about your experience and making it a good one.

Especially for someone like me who is very picky about fish and sushi, I don't like to try new things because if I don't like it, I don't want to pay a bunch of money for it. But for 3.50 a plate, you're not sacrificing much to be able to try endless options. Plus, you can order specific items you want instead of waiting for them to come around. And the best part is how fresh all the food is.

Truly, this is one of my favorite restaurants around Polaris, and my #1 recommendation if you want to try something new.

After standing there for 15 minutes and a female telling us to give her a moment, a rude male told us to check in outside. After doing so we still waited for another 20 minutes while he continued to walk by and smirk and not seat us. The place closes at 9p and we got there at 7:30p, this was our first time coming and already bad taste in my mouth!! They are clearly under staffed, the hosts are also waiting tables! This felt like leaving the outdated chaos of the US and getting to visit a place that embodies the leisure and technological advancements of a revolving sushi bar in Japan. The digital order screen was fun and easy to use. We felt like we could just relax while we tried one dish at a time and then decided what to eat next. This is very different from the rush in rush out dining experience that is traditional for America. Our refills can out in a singing robot too and we ordered enough to get a prize ball dropped at our table. The prize was a restaurant themed pop socket! They offer good rewards so now I have $10 to spend for next time and there WILL be a next time! I think I would go here even if the food was mediocre but it wasn't. Everything was fresh, tasty amd thoughtfully prepared. I had a specialty cheesecake that made me close my eyes and bow my head in reverence. I want more restaurants like this in Columbus!

Sushi Experience №121

I really want to love Kura; I spent a year living in Japan, and having a resolving sushi bar for close to home was one of my dreams. However, every time I go, I always get at least three incorrect orders (that take forever to fix), and it’s made what should be a fun experience a frustrating one. Incomplete dishes, wrong types of fish, and lack of consistency between plates plague every visit. On one occasion, the server appeared annoyed that that had brought up an issue, making it difficult for me to want to approach any of them now.

The slow service and abysmal quality control make me hesitate on the price; $3.50 per plate is already quite pricy. And I find it hard to be excited to want to visit this place in the future. What was once an exciting development in the Columbus food scene has ended up becoming another disappointment, and the worst part was that I really was cheering for Kura’s complete success. As it stands, I can’t recommend this restaurant until a lot of improvements are made.

This place is AMAZING! it does give a very japan vibe, (I thought I was in japan for a couple of minutes.) First of all, you sit down and your waiter tells you wait to do and how much each plate is, witch is $3.50 on the conveyer belt. There is a screen that you can purchase other stuff and buy drinks, when you buy drinks a robot will come and give it to you! AND the food is AMAZING! Also, every blue plate you get, you can put it in a plate trash thingy, and if you put 5 plates in there, you will get a cool animation, its every 5 plates to, if you get 15 plates then a cool price will drop and you can open it. I had a great time and I will totally come back.

Lovely place. Reminded me of my time in Japan. While you shouldn't expect the same quality of food as Japan, it was still plenty delicious. We managed to feed 4 people for just 80 dollars, 20 per person is great!

The only con I can think of is the selection of food in the menu is a little lacking but again, can't really compare to Japan.

Any complaints about the service or "wait times" is just from incompetent, and self entitled people. Call ahead of time and be kind, and the staff will be plenty accommodating.

Looking forward to going back.

The sushi is no better than a take-out from a strip mall restaurant. The selection of items is good, but good luck finding it on the belt. I recommend you find a seat close to the kitchen so you get what you want. You can order from the menu directly, but even that took forever.

Hard to judge service as pretty much everything is automated. Calling a server over with the touchscreen menu is useless. Don't do it. It takes forever for the server to attend to you. It was busy, but not a 20-minute wait for service busy.

The best part of this place is the robot that serves drinks. If you're into trendy gimmicks and poor service, by all means go.

So I probably never would have gone to this place if not for my kids because we don't have a Kura where we live. We were first coerced by my daughter to drive to Pittsburgh (from Cleveland) just to have lunch at Kura. This time, they attended an Anime con in Columbus and there's apparently another Kura there! So guess what's for dinner?

I will say it's a pretty cool place. The tables are arranged in such a way that all are along the path of a conveyer belt from the kitchen where your food will automatically arrive tableside. You can order from a tablet on your table, or via your mobile phone. Drinks sometimes arrive via a robot that zips around the dining floor. Even I got a kick out of that!

There's a variety of small plates, including sushi, that come around automatically on the conveyer belt. If something catches your fancy, you simply grab the plate. If there's something you want that you don't see on the belt, you simply order it and it will arrive at your table on the upper belt. I wouldn't say the food is great, but it's pretty decent. The pricing is artificially attractive because it's $4 a plate, but they're pretty small portions. So by the time your kids (and you yourself) grab 5-6 plates before you get your fill, you're looking at $25-$30 per person!!!

Your table also gets a prize for every 15 plates you order. A small toy (usually Anime themed) will automatically drop from the toy dispenser at your table. Of course, this was a major draw for my kids as they got OnePiece toys this visit.

Overall, I think their "gimmicks" are more of a draw than the food itself. Not a bad thing because we enjoyed the experience, but I wish I got more for the food.

Every time I visit this place I go home with a full stomach. I’ve only had great interactions with the staff. I know that if there is a problem, they will fix it. Will visit again soon

I saw the staff speak to the person 3 or more times who wrote about the tuna today. I saw them try their best to help and do what they can to make it better and even helped with the bill. Thats good customer service! Food is good every time especially the beef nigiri. I’ll definitely return!

We were super excited to try this revolving sushi bar experience! While the sushi wasn't amazing, it was still tasty and having the food delivered straight to your table was pretty cool! There's also a robot who delivers the drinks! I would like to try more of the hot food items next time on a future visit.

I was excited when I found out this was coming to the Columbus area as I’ve been to the Seattle location. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of dishes on the conveyor belt. There was no wait when we arrived and were seated but the belt cycled several times with nothing available. We ended up ordering all of our dishes except for 2 plates of sushi off the belt.

Wait times are inaccurate, sushi is very thin and not high quality. The drink robot is cute.

Drive about an hour an a half and was so excited for the experience. We were sat at the very end and the belt was completely empty by the time it got to us. We ended up using the screen to order which completely took away from the experience. Would never come back again.

The food is great but the service is bad (the host). We came for my son’s birthday dinner because he loves this restaurant. We came at 8pm, signed it at the kiosk and received a check-in via text. I waited at the lobby for the call because I don’t want to miss the call. The kiosk and the link showed 15mins to 30mins waiting which was fine as they are busy. After around 50mins of wait, I noticed all the other customers had gotten a table except us so I asked the male host about how long will it be. The host simply said there were technical issues and walked away with attitude. I get it… it’s a Friday so maybe the wait is longer so I kept on waiting for the call again. I was hoping he would fix the issue soon, so my family can have a dinner. More time passed, and now newer customers that came after us were getting their tables except us. Every time the male host called, I tried to get attention so he knew we were still waiting. He knew that there was a technical issue and our name was missing but he paid no attention to us knowing that we were waiting longer than other customers yet he chose to ignore us. He was rude to my father and talked to him like no respect at all. I kept my patience because my 7 years old really wanted to celebrate his birthday here. After 1 hour and 40 mins wait, we finally we got our table at 9:40pm but we were the last group waiting lobby at this point. The host didn’t even come to greet and seat us but instead just sent someone else to takeover. No apology or whatsoever. The restaurant close at 10pm so the belt at this point is 90% empty. We had to put in order and when the first order came, another server stopped by to tell us the kitchen is closing in 10 mins. This the result of the technical problem to put us on the last one on the list even thought we arrived 2 hours prior to closing. I had told the male host multiple times that we had waited way longer than other customers and the text had said 15mins to 30mins but at the end we waited 1hr 40mins. No one took it seriously. We did order food and finished in 20mins but there was no one that came over and really said anything about it. Truly a bad experience in customer service, male host definitely needs improvement on how to be polite. Food was great though. Will still coming back for the food but hopefully service has improvement.

Fantastic first experience at Kura! I wanted to give a big shout out to associates Noah and Gary. They could tell that I was very sad that the table behind us kept stealing the American wagyu at the rare chance that it came around and they were able to get ahold of a couple plates for me. Noah and Gary went above and beyond to serve a customer and I appreciate them. Additionally, the restrooms have bidets.

A fun way to have sushi delivered via conveyor belt and get served by a robot butler. The Kura Sushi app helps for reward points and getting in line before you get there but I didn't see the crazy lines/waits that other reviews had mentioned. Surprisingly high quality sushi.

Place was great. Really enjoyed the setting.
Sushi was just a little above average.
However the 2 foods that impressed me the most...the wasabi, and the miso soup!
They had actual real wasabi here, like the kind u grate by hand. I never see that around Ohio, even at more expensive or "nicer" Japanese places.
The miso soup was also amazing! great flavor, and not just 90% broth like you get at most places.

Sushi was pretty good quality. Yes it is a little expensive, but it was fun to try. I went at 4pm and because it was not busy the sushi belt was not very full, so I had to order a lot of the dishes i wanted. But I still enjoyed it. And I got to try a couple kinds of sushi I hadn't had before!

The food at the place is fine, but their online ordering does not work and their reward system is just a scam. I tried using my rewards online and couldn't use it and they expire within a couple weeks after receiving them in attempt to force you to come often.

After visiting a rotating sushi bar in Chicago, I was so excited to see one open here. Unfortunately, I had a really disappointing experience. The selection available wasn’t great and what they did have was really disappointing in quality. The food looked nothing like the pictures provided and the flavor was lacking. The also don’t do free refills on drinks and the cup sizes are not very large. There is an all you can eat sushi restaurant in Dayton that I would much rather make the drive to instead of being disappointed again. The staff were friendly but forgot to bring the wasabi that we requested. I’ve never been to a sushi place where wasabi wasn’t readily available. Overall, definitely would not recommend.

Visitors twice, first time the wait was 75 mins. Second time it was about 45 mins. Joined waitlist, you get a text when a table is ready. Drinks come by robot. All revolving sushi is in a "Mr Fresh" container to keep fresh and clean. Plates go in a chute, prize balls automatically dispensed. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices were equivalent with other revolving sushi places. The sushi was great.

This was such a fun place. Warning! If you love sushi like I do, you can spend a lot of money here if you are not careful. I lived it! The sushi was delicious, and I loved the sesame balls for dessert. Good for special occasions or a fun date night. They have ramen there as well, so I can't wait to try it next time. I think the value for the sushi is good. $3.50 for a small plate of sushi. The plates have 2 to 4 pieces on them, depending on the type. Moat of the sashimi are 2 pieces. After 15 plates, you get a fun prize from a small machine at your booth. Seriously, this place was so much fun. You need to go ASAP.

My friend drove up from WV to experience the revolving sushi bar. We sat for two hours as the belt was empty. We could only order from the digital menu and waiting on 3 pieces of sushi, was 15-20 minutes. So sad she experienced such a let down. Not sure we’ll drive back to try again.

My family got there at 11:15. They open at 10:30. The entire time we were there we had to order everything because the revolving plates were all empty. I had to send back miso ramen because the pork was ice cold and the waiter didn’t even know what it was to ask the cook to remake it or if it was made right to begin with.

First time here and we had a great time. I do recommend downloading the app to get on the waitlist before you arrive as it can be a long wait if you don’t. The staff was friendly and explained everything and we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks on the screen and main meals. The drinks were delivered by the robot which was fun. The tonkotsu ramen was good, a little sweeter than I’ve had but the egg was delicious. The beef fried rice was also a great choice and chicken gyoza dumplings. From the conveyor belt we tried a few different items including the wagyu, eel, octopus, umami cucumber salad and seared beef. Overall it was great meal and a lot of fun. We will definitely be going back. I do wish more of the sushi and nigiri was available off the belt but if we wanted it we could just order it directly from the screen.

It's best to reserve a table before you go. The food is quite tasty and I like the revolving food and picking out what you like. The only thing that kind of sucks is that if you don't get a seat close to where the the revolving bar begins to revolve you don't end up with as many options.

The sushi is good at times and subpar at times. The food is good but a lot of it is cold when it's usually warm. I do have one major complaint. I went to a rotating sushi bar, not a tap, your order on an iPad bar. The whole point is to have sushi I can grab, but the bar didn't have sushi. The whole hour and a half we were there. We asked why there wasn't any sushi and they said it was a management decision. Probably won't be back for awhile since the whole point of the place isn't happening.

Food was great and the experience is great but the sushi conveyor was basically non existent. Everyone was ordering all their food from the screens backing up the kitchen and leaving the conveyor empty. I think maybe cap the screen orders and have a team prioritize the conveyor belt? Great place though and will be back

Besides the food, which is always great. The service was extremely slow and almost, non-existent. The belts were always empty and when you order direct, it takes 15-20 minutes. Now, if you're a veteran of Kura, when you request an agent, it should be less than 1-2 minutes. Or, if you order direct, 5-minutes maximum. We press for service and no one shows up and had to actually either flag someone down. Or, get up and ask for help. We ordered spicy tuna and it took 20-minutes to show up. At one point, we sat for 10-minutes with absolutely no food on the belt. Overall, a disgrace to the Japanese brand.
