A spacious room with Chinese dishes & sushi available from the menu or at the set-price buffet.
I tried this place out because it had a 4.0 overall score and a sushi buffet.
When we get in, the host tells us about hot pot being included for $23.99. $24 for hot pot, sushi, and buffet seems like a good price.
The buffet part is probably one of the top worst Chinese Buffets I have ever had. They had some good stuff, like the Chinese donuts and the dessert section. Some stuff was fresh, while the plantains, octopus, and calamari tasted old and dry (no way they were fresh, tasted as if they were a few days old and reheated). That was a disappointment mainly. The buffet is supposed to be the strong point, not the weak one.
The sushi would have been good, if the rice was fresh. Very first sushi I have ever had where the rice tasted really dry and once again, old and not fresh. With rice being cheap, sushi rice should be the number one fresh thing. But, it was not as bad as the buffet
The hot pot was the best part of this deal. All the uncooked pieces were fresh, and the broth tasted decent. The restaurant also has a sauce section with many choices. If they just did hot pot and made that part better, maybe the place would do better. But, I was the only one using the hot pot. No one else touched that area.
Now, the atmosphere. Huge place, very nice. No customers. Or very very few customers. Seems strange for a place with a lot of choices. But the main thing is price, as buffets are supposed to offer value as well as options.
The total cost was almost $70 dollars for two people. They now charge 15% mandatory tip, where a few months ago people complained it was 12%. Nope, they heard your complaints and raised it to 15%.
They have no menu, and the waiter was the worst. When we asked for drinks, they said they carried soda and the beer menu was on the table. They never mentioned they had Ramune, which I would have gotten if they mentioned it. I got raspberry tea, which they charged $3.00 for, which is the most I have ever paid for iced tea ever.
Overall a disappointment, and I am not surprised such a huge and nice looking place has almost no customers. And this was around dinner time by the way, at 5pm! That is when a restaurant in Cleveland should be getting busy.
Would not recommend....based on the price and value. There was another Buffet across the street called Fuji that I might try next time.

Great hot pot, buffet and friendly staff.
I have been to many different places serving Asian cuisine and thought that I knew most of the ones in my general area that had a decent buffet but somehow this place had flown under my radar and I couldn't be more sorry about that.
The excellent selection of Asian food here is beyond local compare. From Hot pot heaters built into select tables, a wide selection of sushi, extensive buffet and hot pot options with both Americanized asian and traditional Asian dishes you will be hard pressed to find other places to compare. In my opinion this place sets the local standard for what you can get for your money.
The staff was courteous, friendly, helpful and attentive. When I had questions about how long they had been there, the types of food, specifics about a dish and other things I got complete answers and if the person who I ask didn't know the manager came over and was willing to answer questions. While not a sparkling new establishment, it seems well maintained and clean, with staff constantly moving to take care of service and busing.
Selection of condiments and sauces that were in their own area as well as in the sushi and Hot pot areas was extensive, beyond just the common ones found at most Asian food venues.
I have included a large number of pictures to give a complete idea of what I have meant and recommend looking at the labels (which were clear and extensive.
The manager did advise me that they would be closed for modeling this summer ('24) which would be of note and worth calling prior to making plans if you are unfamiliar with the place.

A very cool Japanese restaurant, a large assortment of different dishes. The restaurant itself is very clean and cozy, the service staff is very good and friendly. The prices are very affordable for everyone, it is a very good idea to relax with the whole family on the weekend and eat well. I would especially like to note the large assortment of seafood, and it is very deliciously prepared, there are fresh fruits and delicious cakes, jellies. My recommendation for this restaurant is the highest)

My boyfriend took me here on a date. I've been DYING to try hotpot and this place did not disappoint. Our server was very nice young man, he offered us a sauce he grew up eating and it turned everything even more flavorful then it already was. I loved it and we will be going back.

I am a many time true returning customer. I come for the sushi and the Chinese food. We are so lucky we can eat at lumo Japanese seafood buffet. Imagine 100 years ago you’d be clubbed to death if you tried having both sushi and Chinese food at the same restaurant. What a time to be alive.

🤯The dinner was $22.99 per person😲so we end up going around 7:36 and they closed at 9pm so we couldn’t even get full after I pay $129.08 for two adult and 2 kids. one 8 years old kid and one is 12 years old. So 8:30 they start taking the food away we were so mad so we were full half way and no desert at all ..desert were gone before even 8:30 so no desert at all , and top of all this they force you to pay 15% tip see my receipt for the proof. But I will not ever go back to this place we used to go here at least once a month and the sad part is that? we drive over 1 hr to go to this place 😡 never ever again so if you want to pay big $$ and not full this is the place for you…. God luck

On our way home, our party of 5 had to stop at the rest area and use the rest area about 20 minutes down the expressway. Once home, my husband got sick a few times and my niece's aren't feeling well. Also, the children's pricing is "not up to date" online vs in person per our server. Expect to pay a 15% fee for a party of 5 and an infant.

It's all appealing, HOWEVER, the seasonings are gross, or it's cooked to unidentifiable states. Gooey steak, but also dry. Idk. Highly missed that target though. Highly.

The food and options are great, but I do not appreciate how predatorial they are with their pricing.
Two of us walked in and were asked "Buffet or Hotpot?" We stood there for a few seconds talking it over and the waitress said "Buffet and hotpot are the same price, one of you can get the buffet, one of you can get hotpot." And we agreed to it.
We get our bill, it's almost $28, I go to check out and they ring it up as $35. I tell the person who rang up that there's a mistake, our bill is $28, and the waiter said "There's a surcharge for the hotpot."
$7 may be a small amount of money. Regardless, have your staff tell the truth so we don't leave pissed off.

The selection for seafood is unlike any buffet Ive been to and they have a large selection of other ethnic foods. Unfortunately no Hibachi which is usually a given at Japanese restaurants.
I was very disappointed that I paid $30 for buffet of which I was denied the Hot Pot part that is included only because I was sitting in one of the gathering rooms that didnt have the tables needed for it.
They should put some of those tables in the room so patrons with large parties can have the option to eat the Hot Pot portion.
Thats why I gave a 3 star, fealt cheated even after I brought it to tgeir attention, they didn't even offer to accommodate a table even if it was just to have some. Also Staff is cold & rude.

I have heard friends talk this place up for years, so my expectations going in were admittedly pretty high. I have to admit I was let down. Firstly, the service... we arrived at 11:30 on a Wednesday. There was no one at the host stand. I waited a couple of minutes. I saw employees working on the buffet. I was wondering if we were supposed to seat ourselves. I made my way over to the employee working on setting up the buffet to ask her if we were supposed to seat ourselves when the host appeared from behind us and asked if we wanted a table or booth. He apologized and said he needed to use the restroom.
When we were seated, we went to the buffet. Dissappingly, the fried selections, including the tempura vegetables, egg rolls, cheese sticks, and chicken wings, were cold and not good at all.
My whole reason for coming. In fact, the reason I didn't leave when there was no host to greet us was the sushi. So many have talked up the vast selection and great quality of the sushi. Sadly, I found the quality to be okay but not what I was expecting. I also found the offerings to be a bit pedestrian. Very limited.
I doubt very much I will be returning to Kumo in the near future.

This establishment not only has incorrect prices on their paper menu’s, but also the website. There is no where written down with an accurate price. It went from $3.99/lb regular and $6.99/lb seafood to $6.99/lb regular and $8.99/lb seafood. Overall the food was good but for the price I’d rather go across the street.
The total price was suspicious also in that there was no change in the total. I very much so doubt it ended up a whole number when the price is based exactly on weight. Whatever, next time I will go elsewhere :) They’re so shifty on how much everything costs, even if you look at other reviews. Hard pass I’m never going here again.

I used to love coming here before the pandemic—the food was always fresh and amazing. Unfortunately, my recent experience was disappointing. The food tasted like it had been sitting out for a while, and the selection felt limited. The service was fine, but overall, it just didn’t live up to what it used to be.

For 3 adults to dine, the food tasted off and was not cheap. Not a single item on the buffet tasted fresh. Service was good, but not for a $94.20 bill. I think the drinks were about $10 a piece(and none of it had alcohol). Won’t be back here again.

My family and I just left this place. The food was horrible, hard, cold and or flavorless. My niece (5) wouldn't even eat the fries and chicken nuggets she wanted for these reasons. We went because Fuji Grill (across the street) was closed. We will not make that mistake again. They need to close these doors. They charge way too much for food people can't eat. As far as recommendations, my daughter says the jello tasted more like fruit punch than the fruit punch drink smh. If you have dead taste buds or are on a low to no salt diet, then this is the place for you.

I went there today for lunch and had sushi, grill, and hotpot but was never offered hotpot which is fine because I just wanted grill and sushi. I think this place is great food wise. I am doing 24 hour fasting so I only eat once a day with mostly protein and low carb, and this place filled me up. The server was great and she went through the menu and told me how to order.
I think I'll be back at least once more before I head back home in a few weeks.

Sushi is very good

Family came for a late lunch/early dinner buffet. The steak and peppers tasted more like pork than beef. In getting the fried rice, the rice was actually yellow/saffron, not the fried we were looking for. The actual seafood was not bad. Some of the other dishes were pretty tasty. With that being said, we were presented with our bill before finishing our 1st serving. Felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant, and we handed the tip directly to the server. This is our 2nd time there. We'll try it once more.
I'll repost and update.

Recently went there with some friends. Food was okay what you'd expect from a Chinese buffet. Our server did a good job. Keeping our beverages full and clearing dirty plates. Problem with this place is they automatically add gratuity onto your check. There are no signs and it is not advertised that they add gratuity to your check. I prefer to have my own choice on the amount of tip I'm going to leave not have it forced upon me. My friend that was sitting at the table with us with his family went up and had to gratuity removed from his bill. So just a bit of information that you can do that. There is also a spot on your receipt that you can write in a tip but this would be on top of the gratuity that they already added. I wonder how many people they are ripping off with this scam.

Let me explain the 1 star rating. We had our 2 friends meet us at this restaurant before we leave back to our state of Tennessee. They were paying for themselves and we of 3 people paid for ourselves. The food was good and food goes for a Chinese buffets. But the price for it is ridiculous.. way way over priced just go across the street to another Chinese buffet for a reasonable price for the exact same food.... but I digress, we get our bill and for 3 people, our check they forced us to pay for gratuity for 3 people. I don't get forced to pay a tip, I will happily pay a tip if I feel it's was good waiting, and by the way I Do tip very generous but not by force. I walked over to the manager who was at the register. I told him we were .a party of 3 not 5 he said and I don't like being forced into paying a tip I will gladly pay but not by force do place refund my money. The Mgr was arguementive and said "you were party of 5" . I said "no, separate checks mean 1 party of 3 and a party of 2" We went back and forth a few times and then I looked around and said their is no sign about gratuity. The manager said I don't care it our policy and it doesn't bother me if you tip or don't it those guys who get the tip not me. I said I like to be refunded for the tip that was charged to.my card and Siad fine a looked for.my ticket and proceeds to refund me the forced tip. The two people we were with had a similar issue when asking about the tip to the waitor and they were strong armed into giving it while I was at the register dealing with the Mgr. We will NEVER go back because of this and the way over priced food.

The food is great at this establishment. As one person mentioned, they have a large selection of food to choose from including an entire section of various meats and vegetables to use on a hot pot. Some of the tables had burners for hot pots built into them. The food was warm at the buffet and wasn't overcooked or undercooked like some buffets. The staff is nice and courteous as well. However, this place is overpriced. I came out with a bill of $70 for one child and one adult. Most Asian buffets have a separate price for the child based off of age, but this place does not. My daughter was charged for the price of a regular dinner buffet. Also, they have takeout containers available, but until I was checking out I didn't know they charged extra for the food to go. There was not a sign next to the take out containers explaining those had a separate cost. They also make you pay a 12% gratuity tip for a waitress that only brought out our drinks and gave us the check. She didn't serve us food or have to take our order because it is a BUFFET. Therefore, the requirement of a tip is asinine.

The food was extremely disappointing, especially for the price. The crab legs were beyond scrawny and just tiny, mango chicken was great. The sweet and sour chicken was doughy and pretty much just falling apart from moisture and sitting so long, the chicken part was stale. The quality of food depends on what you get. I'm sure they have other foods that were good, but overall, it was disappointing

I honestly don't think I'd come here again, prices on their website don't reflect what they really are and most of the food that looks like it supposed to be hot isn't, like a good half of what we ate was room temp despite sitting in hot water baths with steam coming off it all. just pretty disappointing overall paid 32 dollars for nothing

First time here. Very nice atmosphere. Beautiful setting. Food was good and there was a very good variety of menu choices to meet everyone's likes and dietary needs. Just be aware the tip is automatically included in the bill (15%). Wasn't told that upfront. I do tip but prefer to give cash and have it match the service I receive. We don't eat much so 15% was fine for bringing our drinks and clearing plates once between our main entrée plates and dessert.

Food has changed, not in a good way. Prices went way up, with added gratuity to the bill, plus the waitress asking for more is too much. Kumo needs an update and a deep clean. Better food, a cleaner, and updated dining space would make more sense with the updated prices.

Unacceptable! I went there around 7:45 pm as a party of two. Most of food were dried up or left by pieces. As a long time customer, I understood this type of situation where the restaurant’s not busy and ready to close up for a day. So I stayed and ate my food. But then, a server brought a check that included 12% gratuity! As I mentioned, it was only two of us and the restaurant decided to include 12% gratuity for bringing couple of waters and took 3 empty dishes from the table.
Do not go here. They don’t think of customers as business but rather they think it’s ok to take money from customers blind sided.

I took myself and my two sons for lunch on Sunday (ages 9,2). I thought they had lunch prices, but apparently on Sunday it is dinner all day (which is fine). I was not aware that 12% gratuity is included.. I’ve never experienced that at a buffet. It ended up being 58 dollars for me and my two kids (that barely ate). Extremely overpriced IMO. The food was okay.. but not worth that price.

I don't know why they have you grade the service, it's self serv then they charge a 15 percent gratuity charge. Won't go back

Seafood bar is excellent

We went during the lunch buffet. It appears that the dinner buffet has more variety. Overall, it was very good. The facility is showing some age and needs a remodel.

The food was fine but the lady waitress rushed me out of there. And was rude. First and last time for sure!

The food was great; the sushi bar was massive; but so were the prices. Near $90 for 3 people.

On 4/01/24 a friend and I went for dinner , when the bill came , it was $65.00 …. For just 2 ppl for a buffet dinner!!! , and also they added on. “$6.00 dollar tip” , not sure why I didn’t question why that was added , on the end where you get your plates there is a sign that says you’ll be charged for food waste (food left on your plate) that could have been the added $6.00, ridiculous and I will NOT
be going back again ….EVER !!!A

Family of 6, 1 senior 2 adult 3 kids 1 child 4, the other child is 9 and the 3rd child is 11 on Easter our family went to kumos and was charged 166.00 with gratitude, the food was not worth the money you spent, and I feel that my grandson, shouldn't have been charged as a adult,,I won't be back there, I'll spend my time somewhere else more better,

Most expensive disgusting food I ever paid for. There was not a single food item that tasted good. You could taste the dirty oil on the chicken. The chicken tasted like it was fried with the crab. I ate food that gave me food poisoning that tasted better than the food here. Charges over 20 dollars for children. Worst mistake you could make is coming here. The hotdogs at the gas station would even be a better eat than here

The food was okay, they ran out of a lot of things and I had to wait for him to restock. The thing I didn't like is they had a 15% gratuity to my check and it was only the two of us. The bill came to 64 dollars. That's a lot of money 💰 for a buffet style restaurant, where you serve yourself . And they expected a tip 😀 I will be taking my $64 dollars and go to Wasabi's where I can get good service, great entertainment when preparing my food with some to take home, Plenty of Food. PS. I don't know why they have crab legs on there. They do not have that on their buffet and they do not have a big variety.

Would definitely say don’t waste your time. Not a whole lot of options to pick from unless you want old fish/seafood. All deserts are made of angel food cake so can’t even get a variety. Also, you can get a dinner plate for a great price of $25! 😂😂😂

Heck no don't go! $90 for 3 people is crazy! Food or lack there of was not fresh. Did not have a big selection AT ALL! They have a ramen station but nobody assisting to know what to do. It was crazy! Salad dressing with no salad bar is crazy. Gratuity already included for what idk because no one was helpful. It was crazy. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to the other one

This buffet has been my sons favorite place for a few years now. Its been a while since we've been there and we decided to go last night, not only did they shut down their ice cream bar (they charge you money if you more than 1) they have signs posted everywhere that they will charge you for every pound of food you waste. They also add 12% gratuity into your bill without telling you. It was $100 for 3 of us to eat... rip off. the place across the street is cheaper and has a better food selection.

We decided to try this place since Fuji across the street was closed for the day. Fuji is usually our go to place. I can not say how disappointed we were with the food and the price. When I received the bill they automatically add 12% to the bill for a buffet. That’s ridiculous. Also it’s 22.99 per person and with a drink it’s close to $26 plus tax and the automatic gratuity. For $30 a person I’m going to outback and getting a steak dinner just saying. The food was not that good. I don’t see this place being open much longer.

The experience was all and all good. However..never have I ever heard of a 2 year old being charged $13. 2 years old??? The food was all imitation fake seafood. Not to mention I have never seen a BUFFET charge for wasted food. And charging me gratuity of 20%? Are you serious?? First off their signs said 15%. 100% would not recommend. Especially for families. Mediocre food at expensive prices not worth it 2 adults, 6 kids $160. Pathetic. Didn't even use their hot pot.

These people are a bunch of thieves. They charge me $136 for three people and a child that was six years old on top of it. Three of us had water and only two had a soda.

Kumo used you be one of my go to spots for sushi and to indulge in delicious fried food. However when I ordered tonight I became incredibly disappointed. They forgot my appetizer, gave me plain white rice instead of fried rice, no sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken. Absolutely disappointed. And the best part? Still charged for everything.

The customer service is good like everytime they come ask are you okay ? Do u need anything like that but the only problem is it's costly for 2 persons also. It costed 62$ for a buffet with tax and all.

Food was pretty good but a lady charged my lil brother for being a kid under 12 just because she felt like it. Awesome 👌

Food quality here has hugely declined. For the price, Fuji across the street is so much better. Last time we were here, our server was visibly intoxicated. Pass.

Almost everything is OLD and salty. The shrimps are mushy like mud. You'd know it was not fresh before they make the dish. Shrimps are supposed to be kinda tender and chewy if they are fresh, taste sweet. These are not that. Orange chicken is extremely dry and salty, means it's very old. Been sitting on the warmer for hours. Flounder is crunchy and old , very oily because they probably redo it a few times today. Clams, crawfish, and steam fish are not bad. Lo mein tastes like it was made yesterday and been on the warmer ever since. It's dried out to the point it's shriveled to be half size of what the fresh lo mein is. Deep fried plantain is old and dried out too. I'm not surprised that's why I only see 3 or 4 table, under 10 pp total, are there at dinner time on a Friday. You people better do something soon or else you will be filling for bankruptcy

My wife and I walked in and walked back out, they bring you raw food and you cook it at the table, very pricey, for what they charge no way, then if you stay too long they tell you so, when we got home we had to wash our clothes, because it smells like food, some like it as for us NO.

We used to eat here frequently but hadn't for a few years. Decided to go for lunch Sunday with the kids. The service was unbelievably horrible. After the server sat us and brought our water, he never bothered to check on us. We could see him talking with the other servers, playing on their phones, and talking about Pokémon. Finally after the dishes hadn't been cleared (Styrofoam mind you) and they were piling up, as well as no refills, I asked a different server if they could be cleared so that we would have some room on the table. He begrudgingly obliged. Finally when going to pay, I still hadn't received the bill so I went to the counter to pay. When I finally got her to find the correct table, the total cost was almost $100 for 2 adults and an 8 year old. When I asked about the pricing they didn't have any menu's or places that they were posted, so I pulled up THEIR website (which had been updated with Christmas decorations for 2023) and the gentleman who I assume was the owner or manager said "Those are prices from 14 years ago, not new" The last straw after we left was seeing on the check that they had built in a 15% gratuity for a party of 2 adults and a child, and expected an additional tip on the signing. Considering that there was no service by any of the wait staff, I'm not sure what the tip that I did not authorize (nor was it posted anywhere) was supposed to be for. Overall I would recommend avoiding this establishment at all costs.
