Some of the best food I've had period. Try the jungle noodle or ho mok first. Then branch out from there

Rosewood has been operating for over two years, but remains a hidden gem. The menu is extensive with rice dishes, sushi, noodle entrees, salads and lots of curried choices. Best of all, the prices are extremely reasonable. For example, I had a spicy crab salad appetizer for $6.00. Cocktails were very good and only $9. Entrees were in the $20 range and the portions were very generous.

Our waiter was knowledgable and offered his suggestions based upon his experience, rather than pushing the most expensive items. That in itself made it a great dining experience.

With such an wide variety of choices, we will surely be returning to try their long list of offerings.

I have previously given this establishment 5 stars so it pains me to give it a 1 now. I made a reservation last Saturday(11/9). The options are "Restaurant" or "High-top". We do not enjoy sitting in the bar area so I always choose Restaurant. When we arrived we were shown to a high top(booth) in the corner of the bar. We asked to be seated in the restaurant per our reservation. We were told "this is all I have". Basically take it or leave it. We left

I tried to ask if I did something wrong when making my reservation but he just told me they were busy. It would not have been hard to keep us. Even if we were told they got a big rush and it would be another 15-20 minutes, that would have been fine. We felt like they didn't care one way or the other if we left. Who wants to spend their money when they have that kind of attitude

Sad to see this place going downhill. Food was great but the poor service really overshadowed everything. Sweet server but she knew nothing about the menu and never even tried to learn. Every answer was “I’m not sure”…then food took over hour. Entire meal was over 2 hours and we ordered pretty much right when we got there. Restaurant was half full.

Went with a group of 5 for Sunday dinner.
Margarita was decent.
Started with shared edamame that was good. Then mussels that were the highlight of the meal. Also shared the chicken satay. The chicken was ok, the sauce lacked flavor.
Then JLo sushi roll that had little flavor and very little heat that you would expect from the description.
Finished with the chicken Pad Thai. It had a nice heat to match the ordered 7 heat level but lacked overall flavor.
Service was well done.
The atmosphere was OK.

This place gave me the worst food poisoning of my life. I was throwing up for days, fever, and felt so weak I was out for like 4 days. I already didn’t like Teak and I didn’t realize before going here that it is owned by the same people. Also, service is really slow - it took like 30 min just to get drinks and it wasn’t busy at all.

I went in to place a to go order this evening, and am extremely happy with my visit. Initially the ordering was a tad slow and the person preparing my order was apparently slower than usual because the sushi menu has just been updated. However, while I waited I enjoyed a nice glass of wine at the bar, and appreciated that they gave me an update partway through the preparation to let me know what was up. Then, when it was taking longer than anticipated, I was offered a free dessert for my wait - which ended up only being an extra 5 minutes.

The wait was quite pleasant, the dinner ended up being delicious (far better than other sushi places in the area at the same price point), and the service was great! I think this is about to be our new favorite date night place.

I find that in fusion restaurants, the true elements of specific cuisines get lost in the mix. I wanted to love Rosewood, I did. To be fair, I've spent 5 months in Thailand, so my standards are high. We all had soup to start. I had the coconut soup, one of my favorite Thai dishes. It was overly creamy, very thick, and quite bland. I had ordered one sushi roll, to share with my son's gf, requested it to come out first, before our meal. So, our dinners finally come out, the food runner is auctioning off our food. Food runners should be delivering food to the right seat, not calling it out, especially in a restaurant that has plate prices in the $30 range. I said, oh but we didn't get our sushi yet. He goes over and gets it from the sushi guy, with no apology on the delay. Our actual server is clueless that this has even happened, didn't acknowledge it at all. I place my dinner off to the side to have my bear roll, honestly the highlight of my entire evening, it was divine! Now back to my stuffed flounder, everything is ice cold. The flounder tasted very fishy, possibly not fresh, or not rinsed properly before cooking. It was very dry and crusty, and all the "stuffing" was just ice cold. The fish is really rolled around all the other ingredients. The asparagus was greasy and the seasoning was a little off, completely unpalatable rice, dry, and cold. So, I can't eat my dinner, but not trying to send it back, I just set it to the side and ask the server to take it away. The manager stopped by later to ask if everything was ok, but didn't address me directly, to ask ME why I didn't eat my food. My son and I have both worked in food service, we don't make ugly scenes or send food back, so he just paid for everything and called it a day. And then I still needed dinner, haha! We did enjoy the pear martini and the tropical rum drink. The server seemed like she knew we weren't really that happy, but she didn't have the skills or confidence to try to make it right, nervously asking us three times if we needed our bill split. If I had to guess, I would say she was really just concerned I would pay separately and stiff her. Even if food and service are lacking, we always tip appropriately. To sum it up, it was a fairly expensive night out for a lackluster experience. Can't say I would come back if ever in Cincinnati again.

*Edit....ummmmmm, ya might want to READ the review before you reply guys 🤣🤣 3+4+5=12÷3=4, so I gave you a 4, but the most important rating, FOOD, was a THREE.

For the price, the pad Thai and massaman curry were small portions (no leftovers) and skimpy on the proteins and veggie ingredients. I showed up at 12:30pm on a Saturday and was told the chef was not there yet (they open at noon). I eventually came back and gave them a try. They have an extensive menu of sushi and essentials Thai dishes; some of the rolls and dishes have a fusion element to them. The chicken dim sum was pretty good, crispier than your average -- I'd eat it again. The Thai fish cakes had a sausage patty consistency -- flavors were decent, but I didn't love texture. The Fish House Rainbow roll was decent -- not super fresh flavors. I was surprised at how quiet this place was on a weekend. I imagine it's much more crowded at night, especially since they have a full bar. I wouldn't deter anybody from trying Rosewood, but 3.5/5 star experience for me.

We went back on Friday, 6/9/23, and the food was very salty. We should have said something, but decided to drain the salty sauce off of our food, and eat it anyway. It was disappointing, because of how good it was the first time. We had spicy Thai, and Thai veggies, both in a brown sauce.

The sushi was decent . The Thai food was salty, lacked flavor and substandard. The person in the front desk was nice enough to give us champagne as we had to wait for 1 hour after our reservation time to get seats. That is the reason the restaurant gets 2 stars instead of 1 .

Published 2 years ago

Review №85

Seating was left to be desired as my partner and I were seated at a very slim (practically shoulder-width) and long (across one another) table which made it extremely difficult just to listen let alone talk to my partner right in front of me. This would have been fine if we weren't so close to other patrons that I was able to hear the people on my left and right better than I could my partner in front of me.

Food was decent but not due to the chefs inexperience - you could tell that this was Oakley Fish House due to the expertise of the seafood cooked but the menu was not a Thai based one. We went in expecting much more of a Thai influence but was a bit disappointed by the traditional Fish House menu that seemed to adapt simple dishes to try to make them more Thai. For example salmon was great but they just added a bowl of rice on the side.

Overall some aspects were cooked well (seafood) but other aspects felt half-hearted (brussel sprouts confit was practically steamed) but my largest gripe was the ambiance and seating.

If you're looking for a Thai restaurant - look elsewhere, but if you're looking for seafood with some decent pricing options and appetizers Rosewood is on the table.

I wish i could give 2.5 stars. What can I say but it was OK. The Thai food was good but nothing special. The sushi we waited an hour for and despite ordering it as our app came put before the main courses. the sushi was horrible, warm fish (not cool or room temp but warm). The cocktails were subpar. The waitress was amazing.

I leave good reviews and bad reviews as I eat at places all over the world. Only reason I didn't give 2 stars is our waitress was super nice and the jungle noodles dish was good (but not great, just average). Everything else left a lot to be desired. The chairs were comfortable and the place was clean.

But really if your charging $16 for bluefin sashimi and by the way I'm ok with the price get rid of the packets of soy sauce i have to open with my teeth and quit trying to save money by using up the last of the chopsticks the say the previous restaraunts name on the packet.

I went to Rosewood to support the Asianati Asian Restaurant week. Tried and really enjoyed the specials of the Haw Mok, Pork Satay, and Calamari dishes. The noodle dishes combined the right level of spice without being just crazy heat. The fish dishes were very fresh and delicate. Hated the parking or lack of. While the owner was super nice, I felt I kept trying to look for the waiter for service. Maybe just a bad night. Definitely willing to try again because their menu had so many interesting dishes. Absolutely delicious Thai food, my friend and I met up here for an early dinner and even though he had to bring his 3-year-old with him they were super cool and accommodating. Definitely a nicer place than I expected, really high quality for service, food and presentation. I went with the Asian food week special that was only a $10 bill and I expected it to be a half serving, not even close. It was a giant serving! Delicious layers of flavor, plenty of vegetables, and plenty of meat. We also split an appetizer of calamari, that was similarly large, and flavorful, mild enough for his 3-year-old but this slightly spicy sauce had a good zing for us. He got a pork belly entree that was beautiful, delicious, can't say more about this place. They got a little busy at the end and we're kind of pushing us out, but it was completely understandable given the circumstances and we had nothing but fine service until the moment we left. Strongly recommend getting in there and checking them out again.

A bit ridiculous and totally disingenuous to rename a restaurant and change its entire genre of food but treat it as the same one on here so that you don’t lose old reviews. Do the right thing next time. People have gone expecting one thing and received another.

You now have a restaurant where people have posted pictures of food that is a completely different genre than what exists today. It’s not like a certain dish was changed and is no longer made.

If the price matched the food quality it might have been two stars. Short version: Midwest-style hotel food, over buttered, under salted.

I wish we'd read the earlier review about the calamari - aside from wondering what we were eating, there wasn't much flavor and the sauce didn't help. We got a little nervous with the confusing service upon entering, the terrible tasting hose water (paid extra just to get a normal water), it was almost empty during restaurant week, and the permeating sewer smell (same when it was Habits) is still here - now complimented with an unpleasant fish smell that should have sent us running.

Unfortunately the entrees didn't help. We got the stuffed Sole and lobster mac n' cheese ...both not great - the mac n' cheese was better, but the amount of oil made it nearly inedible.

The bright lighting didn't make for a comfortable evening meal ...and for all things holy please find somebody to modernize the music selection.

I don't like being harsh, but we just dropped too much money celebrating a special occasion for what we just experienced.

I rarely leave reviews, but thought I need to put this out there. I really wanted this place to be successful, but I'm not so sure how long they will last.

Pros:
- Excellent service
- Nice decor

Cons:
- We ordered calamari. Both my girlfriend and I were unsure what we were eating. I've eaten calamari from dozens of restaurants around the world and I've never received "strips" of calamari. No rings. No tentacles. Just compressed "fish?" into a strip format...almost like a clam strip.
- We ordered the roasted beet salad and everything mixed well together, but they didn't roast the brussel sprouts. Raw brussel sprouts are pretty bitter. Given the name, one would have assumed the brussel sprouts would have been roasted instead of the beets.
- My GF got the stuffed sole. While it wasn't bad, the stuffing was imitation crab meat. Also, since it was doused in sauce it was tough to tell if what she was eating was actually sole, especially given our experience with the calamari.
- I ordered the spinach fettuccine and it was so-so.

All-in-all, we won't be returning. Spending $100+ on subpar seafood (if some of it could be considered seafood) is not in our future.

This food is phenomenal. The sea bass is perfectly cooked and the bok choy, mushrooms, shrimp, and broth made from whiskey barrel aged soy are the perfect accompaniment. The halibut was delicious with the langostino cream sauce, lavender rice and wonderfully seasoned cauliflower. This is a must!

We went for a nice dinner and this was just okay. The atmosphere is nice and service was good. The drinks were pretty good. The crab cake was tasty but not necessarily $18 for one crab cake tasty. My husband got the fish chowder and it was good. I ordered the halibut and was super excited about it, but it was really disappointing. The fish was way overcooked, and to be honest I questioned whether it was actually halibut or if it was maybe cod or something. It was served with undercooked, under-seasoned cauliflower, and what the menu called lavender rice, but it was literally just white minute rice that didn’t seem to have been salted or otherwise seasoned. Definitely not a $35+ meal or piece of fish. I wanted to love this place but my meal was not what I had hoped.

Very good seevice. The way the Chilean sea bass was prepared wasn't very good. Too much soy sauce and a bit too salty. Would've tasted much better had it been prepared differently and without soy sauce

The rest of the food was good

I have eaten in most Seafood Restaurants on the east coast and this was terrible. I think the cook was having a bad day! The service was decent and the atmosphere was awful. The way the other patrons acted made me think that I was in the wrong part of the restaurant (Jim CRow 1960's). The food had no flavor at all and my party all felt the vibe of bad food bad atmosphere and poor service. this one get me no more.

What an upgrade for this address. They consider it "fine dining" and it's close. Cincinnati is a city without great seafood restaurants. It's nice to have the option of Oakley Fish House. Definitely recommended.

Yum! Wasn’t sure what to expect of a seafood place in Cincinnati but it was sooo good! Our waiter was attentive and helpful without hovering. We got several appetizers to share… calamari, truffle fries and shrimp guacamole and all were so good. Only “ complaint” was needed MORE of the delicious calamari. Then our party got a mix of dishes from lobster ravioli to stuffed lobster, sea bass dinner , spicy shrimp pasta and clams with pasta dinner. Little note only was sea bass needed a “ little more flavor “ and needed a starch for that broth. Waiter suggested jasmine rice which was great but cost was extra. Nice ending with chocolate tortes all around to share. Fabulous time and look forward to coming back soon and trying the next menu. Thanks for exceeding expectations!!!

I was very excited to try them so I placed a carry out thru door dash. I ordered a blue cheese wedge salad and had requested no tomatoes. When I got home, I discovered there were tomatoes. I can't eat tomatoes and as they were mixed in with a little bit of blue cheese crumbles with bacon and onion, I couldn't pick them out. Plus there was hardly enough toppings to make even a small salad. 12.00! So I called the store in hopes they would remake it, but I was told I would have to call door dash. Did Door dash make the salad? Did they screw it up? If you're going to grossly overcharge me for a piece of lettuce, the least you could do is offer to remake it correctly. I was really looking forward to trying other things from their menu, but now that I've had to throw away a 12.00 piece of lettuce, they will never get another penny from me.

The fish stew is so good it is hard to give it up to try other dishes. There is a nice outside area with umbrellas for those like us that still do not want to eat indoors. The special cocktails are wonderful. Can't wait for the seasonal menu to change to see what awaits.

I do not like to write negative reviews, particularly for a new restaurant trying to survive during covid. However I just had such a horrible experience here that completely ruined my evening.

We walked in and were waiting at least 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. During that time a server slammed open the door, hitting me in the back. He apologized minimally

We ordered our food after a minor problem with drinks (beer listed on the menu was not actually offered). We waited over an hour for our food. During this time there was almost no communication/apology/offer to bring something. We saw tables that had been seated 40 min after us get their meals.

After it had been well over an hour, there was still no explanation about when our food would be coming. We tracked down the server and told her we would be paying for the drinks and leaving. She was very apologetic, but at no time did anyone in a managerial role come over and try to address the situation.

I am sensitive to the staffing problems, but our experience was unacceptable.

If you haven't tried this place, do so immediately! It's that good! From the drinks (jellyfish and bourbon smash) to the appetizers (calamari and truffle fries) to the entrees (fish stew and chilean sea bass), everything was absolutely delicious! Service was very good not stellar. And the fresh oysters were just ok. Highly recommend. Will definitely go back.

appetizer of crab cake. You get one crab cake for $18. No better quality than the $1 crab cake from Kroger's. The Rock Mill beer for $5 fine deal. My pasta for 22 or $23.was Worth half that and was not very Cajun. The lobster for $48 was questionable worth that not worth it at my eyes. Asparagus that came with it was very granny. Service was good. I can't imagine they'll survive.

Don't waste time reading this, go! Very, very good food. Nice bourbon selection, Glennmorangie is an option in the scotch selection among Johnny Blue. The Mediterranean Fish Stew was amazing. Other members of my party sincerely enjoyed their dishes also, mentioning the salmon as a sure returner. There are a couple unique cocktails worth mentioning as well. Specifically an old Fashioned smoked from cherry wood. Reservation only.

Fantastic seafood restaurant.

Went for our first visit tonight (Early June, 2021) and cannot wait to come back.

Cocktails were phenomenal, and the food was incredibly good. We shared the Oyster appetizer, and had the Lobster Ravioli and Seared Halibut with lemon butter caper sauce. Both were excellent.

The Lobster Ravioli was the first Lobster Ravioli either of us have ever had where you could see actual chunks of lobster meat stuffed into the ravioli. It was a little like the filling from a lobster roll with more cheese stuffed into a ravioli. Nothing like other lobster ravioli where the filling was ground up "baby food" texture.

Halibut was fantastic, seared to perfection, and the Lemon Butter Caper sauce on top was insanely good. Cauliflower (the best I've ever had, which I know sounds wild but trust me) and Cous Cous with seared Asparagus rounded it out.

Go check it out!

The food was fresh, will give them that. I hate doing this, but this place needs help. Started off with a bad diet coke, I asked for a new one and the waitress looked at me like I was sending back a $200 bottle of wine. Its a diet coke and it tasted like CO2 $15 for 3 shrimp. Ordered pistachio crusted salmon, dish was delivered and they said oo were out of the pistachio crust, come on. The dish has like 4 ingredients. Plus tiny piece of salmon. Wife ordered scallops, cooked well, but 3 scallops in an entree? Thats pretty weak. Overall very underwhelming.

Better than any seafood you can get downtown! Super fresh oyster sampler, great cocktails, the bisque is TERRIFIC (instead of getting an entree we opted for another bowl each of the bisque) after our apps. The grilled octopus was tender and had great sauces as did the crab cake. Ambiance is very intimate and the service was great.
