Korean Cuisine and Japanese Sushi!
Exactly what you’d expect for a Korean spot. It’s like going to your grandmas house for dinner. The food was made exceptionally well with love and pride. The customer service was above and beyond what most places in this area offer.
The waitress checked in with us often and ensured our glasses never ran out of water. Places don’t do that anymore!
I ordered the lunch bibimbop and its was delicious. My wife ordered the sundubu and it was delightful. If I could go higher with a rating I would.

DO NOT GO HERE.
This place is absolutely shady and a total rip off.
Ordered takeout and was told no sushi available for a week. Okaaay. Two dishes are $7 more expensive than what I see on the Google maps menu. Automatic 15% gratuity charge just for bagging food for takeout?? A 25 minute wait for 3 dishes and an app even though the restaurant was empty.
$100 total! $27 more than what I expected from unlisted current prices and gratuity charge. Portions were BARELY enough for one person. There was one portion of rice missing.
Worst restaurant experience of my life.

When I go online to place a takeout order, I expect the menu to be current and correct. This was not the case at kabuki.
I ordered what I thought was a $13.99 bowl of Korean soup but when I got there, I was told that it was $17.99 and that a 20% tip was added on all to go orders.
First of all, I had to walk back to the kitchen to find anybody working there to pick up my order. What service am I tipping on? The soup was great but the price online was misleading,
and the “mandatory “ 20% gratuity was ridiculous. And also, if your sign says that you’re open until 9 PM, don’t be annoyed when a customer calls at 8:30 to place a takeout order of soup! Seriously..

Ordered some take out; three entree orders. The amount of banchan (side dishes) was not for three entrees.
Stopped in to try out some Korean food. Had the Kalbi dinner and was not disappointed. However, the price was a little high for the amount of meat. Got the miso soup before as an appetizer and the banchan and rice with the Kalbi.

I’ve liked going to this place for lunch in the past.. but it’s insane to order Togo. They have zero updated menu prices, so you call and order three items and pick it up its over one hundred dollars, completely messed the order up and gave me an entirely different meal it was insanely small portions not to mention the kalbi price is $40 and all that’ comes with it is 8 pieces of kalbi…and charged 15% on gratuity when we got the food to go. Is that legal to charge 15% gratuity on to go? This place is a rip offI’m very disappointed, I did not pay $127.00 for this. Also not to mention we drove the order back that they gave us wrong order and proceeded to tell me it was the right one when the description was not correct.

Good food but lacking full Korean menu.
Firstly, the food they do serve is pretty good, so if you are after what they have you probably wont be disappointed.
However, I am quite disappointed that a Korean restaurant, being basically the only one in Wilmington, doesn't have gimbap, tteokbokki, tonkatsu, or most importantly, ramen.

WE HAD TWO ROLLS AND FRIED RICE AND A GLASS OF WINE! Total was $73 and the same lady that’s been working here added automatic gratuity came out to 95.00! Super expensive and portions are way smaller than a few months ago. Atmosphere is crappy not a fancy restaurant to be adding automatic gratuity. For a party of 2. I love their fried rice and really the only reason I come here but I will not be coming back. Ever again.

Small portions for the price. Our waitress was very attentive, but it is disappointing when paying $38.95 for a dish that didn’t quite fill one up. Had to get more food at another restaurant afterwards.

Restaurant was horrible food portions were small for the exspesnive pricing , from the start our waitress did not explain anything about the menu correctly also hiding the facts about any hidden up charges for sauces , I ordered sushi with eel which barely had any meat it it what’s so ever . Dumpling bowl and noodle dish has 3 noodles in it and when brought that up the waitress tried to charge more . At the end of the horrible serve and bad exsperience we were told there was gonna be an aturomatoc 20 percent charge on my card. So a total of 65 dollars for two small lunch size portion dishes and sushi rolls with rice and avocado . I’m never going back and do t recommend at all !

They will charge you for multiple items without telling you and then let you know it’s on the menu. Like a side of siracha. Their portions are SMALL and OVERPRICED. They also AUTOMATICALLY put a 20% tip without telling you until they run your card. $60 for bowl of soup with the smallest amount of noodles, sushi that was all rice, and teriyaki noodles the size of a lunch portion. Do not recommend, at all. Very disappointed. Service was not worth 20%!
Also the waitress was unwilling to explain the items on the menu. She told me my noodles came with miso soup. Than never brought it out?!!! Everything was weird.

Six of us dined there this evening for the first time. We had the seafood & kimchi pancakes and steamed dumplings as appetizers and for dinner we all had either bibimbap or bulgogi. We enjoyed coconut cake and mango and green tea mochi for dessert. Our plates were clean. Everything was absolutely delicious and it was all devoured. Our server was very attentive and pleasant as well. We were all thrilled to have found this wonderful Korean restaurant and we all plan to return. We all grabbed one of their take out menus too for when we want to enjoy their delicious food at home. You must try this!

Just left this little gem. Kate our waitress was great. We came out because my husband wanted the bibimbap. Drove from jville; and were not disappointed. The food was delicious. I had the spicy salmon sushi & a plate of pork fried rice. Hubby got his beef bibimbap with a side of kimchi. Kate was very attentive & kind. She gave great recommendations & made sure we enjoyed our food. We would definitely recommend Kabuki to everyone!

Prices were high for what we got. Not extreme, but we can do an awful lot better for less.
Rice was overcooked, and both of our dishes were very light on meat, not to mention very small portions.
If you know Korean food at all, you'll be disappointed.

Food was excellent, but food quantity for price was not good. $29 Sunday lunch for a small amount of noodles or rice with little meat. I don't know why their meal portions are so small. $10 small slice of cake. $3 each 12 ounce can of soda.

We won’t be back unfortunately. Very over priced and very small portions! We had the edamame and fried dumplings to start and $9 for edamame for like 10-15 pieces which was ridiculous! The fried dumplings were ok but nothing great. As for entrees we had chick fried rice which was ok and a sushi roll which was the best out of everything we ordered and then teriyaki shrimp with noodles. The shrimp were the smallest shrimp I’ve ever seen and were so overcooked you had to chew them like rubber. The noodles did have good flavor but tiny portion! And for all of this we paid $100 which is the worst part in my opinion should have paid $40-$50 for what we got! Won’t be going back unfortunately because we had high hopes!

Nothing about this place was bad, per se, but a lot of little things added up to only a 3 rating. Our waitress didn't write down our order, so we had to ask for our soju after she forgot it. The soju was $22, which we later learned was sold for only about $5 other places. The stone bowls were good, but there wasn't a lot of food in there for the price. The stone bowls weren't hot enough to make the rice nice and crunchy. The sushi didn't have quite enough rice to make the roll stay together when eating it. Like I said, nothing was bad by any means, but they lacked attention to detail and seemed to over charge and gyp on the serving sizes for the prices they wanted.

Ordered via phone, and was told about a 15 percent take out fee, which doesn't feel justified. The online menu on Google said 15 or so dollars for the single dish I ordered. Upon pickup, I was told it was 24 dollars, and that those were old prices. Somehow the out the door cost for that single dish ended up as 30 dollars. The side dishes were minimal, and the quantity provided is about half I'd expect from any other Korean restaurant I've been to.

Kabuki cafe and sushi. I am here on a Saturday night. 09-16-2023. The sushi bar is closed, nobody to work it. I ordered a takeout and it took 45 minutes to get my food. Excellent quality , slightly pricey and if I’m ordering a couple bottles of sake and over $75 sushi (just for me) with a party of 5, I think you should be a little more gratuitous with the traditional Korean small plates being distributed on the table. Finally, adding 20% gratuity for a table of five, while understood, it’s fine, but I some of us tend to tip more if we have a great experience.

Kabuki is an outstanding Korean restaurant that never fails to impress. Their Yakisoba is an absolute delight, with perfectly cooked noodles, a harmonious blend of savory flavors, and a generous medley of fresh vegetables and tender meat. Each bite of their Yakisoba takes your taste buds on an unforgettable journey of authentic Korean cuisine.

We went to this restaurant because it was the only Korean restaurant in the area. We read a review and was like, maybe they might be overreacting, but we were just as infuriated. We walked into a barely lit environment, the tables not sturdy, and an impatient server/hostess. The quantity and quality of the food was not worth the price, which is completely overpriced. To top that off, we were forced to pay service charge of 20% ($55.00)for a table of 8 for terrible service. There was not 1 sign indicating anything about gratuity.. which by law can be an issue. We will be going back to visit the area but not this restaurant.

Went here for my wife's birthday with mother and her friend. Our friend has a gluten allergy which is why we came here in the first place as it was advertised to be gluten free. She got a sushi platter of salmon and tuna that was allegedly fresh. It was not. When we sent it back the owner (older woman) got combative and tried to tell us not to come back. Trust me, we won't. Throughout the whole altercation we could hear the owner shouting at the poor waitress who was just trying her best.
Avoid at all cost, combative owners is bad for business.

Honestly, the price isn't on par with the amount of food you receive. You leave hungry and staying a lot coming from a woman. They also only give 2 tiny side dishes to accompany your meal. A true Korean restaurant have 4-5 side dishes, and while the prices are high because getting specific ingredients isn't easy, you never leave hungry. As a half Korean I wanted so badly to love this place, but atlas I will keep searching for a decent Korean restaurant.

The food there is amazing and some of staff are so sweet but unfortunately, friendly customer service isn't a priority. I asked a simple question and the woman on the other end was giving my attitude and was impatient. I don't know her name but she had a southern accent and sounded possibly in 40s-50s. She may be having a bad day and I completely understand the feeling but when it comes to customer service no matter what, you should be polite and hear them out. I didn't ask unnecessary questions or was rude back, it was a quick question about the menu. Apparently for some that's asking for too much.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Our first time at this place and the first thing the waitress/hostess said was “We are real short staffed and have no sushi today,” okay that was fine. We wanted Korean food anyway. We were short for time and there were only 3 tables in the restaurant, 1 table was getting ready to leave. I kindly asked if we could go in and put our order in. She rudely goes, “No, sorry there’s a table ahead of you and we are short staffed!” I wanted to walk out but my gf and I drove over an hour to eat here and wanted to give the place a benefit of a doubt. Finally after she took the other tables order she comes over and takes ours. She brings out miso soup. I thought I was at Japanese restaurant for a second. Our order was just one of kalbi and bulgogi…$36.99 plus tax and tip later. I will NEVER go back. It was the worst customer service and not worth my money. I will drive to Raleigh if I want a better Korean restaurant experience. Avoid this place if you want anything less than mediocre.

This place used to be great, but quality has gone to non-existent. Portions of side are scarce, soup is served cold, and the one server they have is so over worked, you end up NOT having a good time. We literally were the first people served and the soup was cold. We immediately left payment on the table and left after after realizing there's no coming back after that. We can only give so many chances.

This place does not deserve anything above 2 stars. The only waitress working there was rude and acted like we were inconveniencing her, yet despite that we still tipped 20 percent. The prices are absolutely ridiculous, ordered the kimchi jjigae and it ended up being $15.99 for barely a cup and a half of soup. The banchan (side dishes) were haphazardly portioned (we got like two pieces of kimchi cabbage and 3 individual bean sprouts). Their sushi is mediocre. Our total bill for yakisoba, kimchi jjigae, and one sushi roll came out to be almost $70. Wilmington area needs better korean food because this place is an absolute joke.
Visited 2 years ago
First of all, I would like to say that the prices here are absolutely ridiculous for the portioning you receive. We ordered the kimchi jjigae and the stone bowl wasn't even halfway filled. That was $15.99. Their bulgogi prices are also unbelievable (I guess they raised them recently), $29.99 for a small stone plate that could barely feed two. For those looking for GOOD Korean food in the Wilmington area, I would look elsewhere. It was OK.

Initially glad you see a Korean restaurant in Wilmington but soon it turned into a disappointment. Overall dinner portions were so little I thought they were kid’s portions & they are little pricey.
I admit food taste ok. I don't think I want to come back here again. There should be more Korean restaurants to compete.
The interior needs make over also. I thought I was stepping into a Korean restaurant from 80’s.

The food tastes good but prices are so high. I can go to Pie Wei inside Independence Mall in Food Court and get on overflowing Asian meal for less than $10. I grew up in South Korea and wish I could afford to eat there more often.

Not a great experience at all. Really was in the mood for Korean bbq. Found this on Google and had decent reviews and photos looked good. As soon as I arrived only one waitress, hostess that looked and acted very unwelcoming. But i can't blame it is she's doing everything. Honestly my problem was the portion sizes and prices. I went solo after running errands and my bill was $50!. I ordered a soda, one main dish and a appetizer. That's ridiculous. Service wasn't great, food was meh and prices are the worst. Will not be returning and not recommending.

Waitress heard we were dissatisfied and added her own tip onto a "large group" of two. Food tastes good but it's not cheap when you factor in the McDonald's trip right after. Low portion sizes. One fork bite of protein in each plate. Took exactly an hour to get our food with only 3 tables of people in the restaurant on a quiet Sunday. The waitress tossed our plates to us across the table. 16 dollars for a 6-piece sushi roll. Pretty much sums it up.

Food was great, little pricey but only Korean spot in town. Now service was far from great…. Wasn’t sure why it was so slow but the server was smoking outside, didn’t wash then came over to take orders smelling like smoke … then was rude and we felt we weren’t really welcome there to eat by the lack of respect we experienced... Would be - 5 stars review and a must return place but not so sure w front service experience.

Overpriced white-washed Korean food. Wasn’t worth the price at all. My first red flag should’ve been when a Korean restaurant didn’t have any soju, but I took a gamble due to the other reviews. Wasn’t worth it at all and I highly advise not wasting your time.
The lone waitress, that I’m learning has been the only one for months if not years, was awkward by her question of “the foods so good, right?” I’m not sure how long she has ever been in ROK but no.. it was not. The Bibombap was bland, the bulgogi and kalbi portion was absurdly small for the price and mostly bone. This was one place I wanted to argue with the check and their absurd “mandatory 20% tip for a party over 4,” like ma’am, it’s a family of 2 adults and young kids.

Every time I order take out, there is food missing and the owner will NOT do anything to fix it even after admitting to the mistake.

There is a strong sewage smell throughout the restaurant - making it hard to enjoy the food.

The authentic Korean food here is amazing as well as the other Asian fusion dishes! The owners are wonderful people!

Sushi was cold rice like it was pre-made and kept in a fridge. Like gas station Sushi. I paid for fresh food wish I got it. Wife's bento box was watered down bugogi meat and her miso soup was a spoonfull in a bowl.. my pork and kimchi chigae was nice and spicy tasted good just had 1 small shred of pork. I'm Korean so I know what this food should have been like but it was a disappointment

The food is delicious and the staff is very kind. 10/10 I would recommend to every one. I was getting take out the other night and the service was slow because they were very short staffed. There was a customer who was very rude about it and I just want to say I work in the industry and I understand. Times are tough right now and I think it’s very admirable to continue to work hard and serve good food. And forget the rude guests who don’t understand the world and like to embarrass themselves in public.

I love this place. I've eaten here twice and enjoyed it both times. The people working here are a family. Very comfortable environment.

I am all for supporting local businesses, but this is one I will not continue to support.
Like many others, who have gone here with a party of 5 or more, there is no warning that a 20% gratuity will be added to the bill. I am usually great at tipping excellent service, but my issue here is that they were not courteous enough to let you know beforehand or ahead of time. The waitress handed back the receipt and told us after it had been swiped.
Second, the waitress (Kate) is loud and has no respect for her environment. She spilled her entire love life to another staff. So loud that we know there is drama going on in their relationship. Everyone has to speak to someone about problems, but there is a time and place for that. Not in a family restaurant with children and all.
Being the only Korean restaurant in town, it is not bad. Food is ok. However, this is just a restaurant trying to cheat you. For these said reasons, 1) the unexpected gratuity tip that was not displayed anywhere and was told after the payment was taken, 2) a made-up story about why they don’t give out lemons with their water, and 3) issues with the menu/false advertisement. Their menu explicitly says your entree will receive a side of miso soup and sides; therefore, I should get miso soup and sides. Four people in my party ordered entrees and the whole table only got small dishes suited for one person. When asked about it, they said it was for the entire table. If extra is needed, they will up-charge a $1.50. If this is the case, the menu needs to be updated to explicitly say “a side of miso and sides (per table).
You have been warned!

Made a good reservation earlier today. Got there and table was ready! Lovely ambiance. They had a nice selection of Korean and Japanese dishes. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was wonderful.
It was a great experience and we can’t wait to go back. Good portions and well priced too.
A nice Wilmington gem!

Great food, very accommodating, even with staff shortage. Our server was outstanding, she made my daughter's 21st birthday a night to remember! Can't wait to return.

Went here for lunch! I think this is the only Korean restaurant in Wilmington. Food was great, had the spicy pork bulgogi, my fiance order beef bimbimbap in the stone bowl. When it got to our table it was still sizzling! Oh and the kimchi pancake!! Side dishes were awesome, too bad the restaurant doesn't sell them in bulk. Definitely would have bought it!
However, if you visit this restaurant. It's only ran by 3 people. 1 server and 2 cooks. Be kind, service is slow. You will eventually get yummy food.

Great local spot for Korean food. I’ve been here a couple times and had a great experience every time. The atmosphere is great. The menu isn’t super expansive, but it’s a great intro to Korean cuisine. Bulgogi and the Korean chicken wings both have been wonderful. The lunch specials are also a great price.

Both the food and service was great! We liked the interior aesthetic as well.
You can tell the Korean owners take pride in their food. Immaculate knife work and presentation. We had a great time

Sushi was good, not the best, rice a bit undercooked. Let's start with staff, lady taking orders was absolutely Rude, than to top it off, GRATUITY? they don't warn you just add 15 percent. I ordered to go and my bag was just sitting on a chair next to someone waiting. I will not go back, and would NOT recommend tgis place. U want sushi, Harris Teeters is better and cheaper and no hidden charges.

Hard to find Korean spots as i enjoy eating authentic Korean dishes being half Korean. The food was decent. What i was not okay was with the charges. Someone how our bill was $130.14 for four dishes and three appetizers. Also we were charged 20 dollars gratuity without being told prior to being seated for two adults and 4 kids.

Eating in is much better than the take out. The stone bowl is qn experience, and they line up a bunch of sides as well, even if you go by yourself!

I came across this sushi restaurant through Yelp. The service wasn’t good, only one server assisting call take out orders& walk ins. Sushi was delicious and so was the Korean dishes. There was a charge of $20 for gratuity which was not disclosed prior to paying. It was a table of just three of us. I overheard another family checking out and they were not charged automatically of this gratuity.

I'm certainly not an expert on authentic Korean cuisine but everything was delicious & prepared with care & skill. Dishes were presented in a very appealing way & portions were plentiful.
The service was friendly, knowledgeable & attentive (Kate is great). I will be back!

The food was very good! The only reason i gave it 4 out of 5 stars was due to the cost of the food compared to the amount of food given. Example: $13.99 for fried rice plus $3.50 extra for shrimp is fine if you get plate full and a fair amount of shrimp; i received 7 tiny pieces of shrimp with rice on HALF of the plate with the other side having a small, all be it delicious, salad! Rice as we know is VERY inexpensive, so I was disappointed and surprised 😮 to say the least. We also ordered Bugolgi which was delicious 😋 but again, very small portions for what they charged. Won't be ordering 😪 any appetizers in the future either...paid $9 for their shrimp tempura 🍤 and got TWO itty-bitty pieces of shrimp with 2 pieces of deep fried accent pieces of who knows what to try to help fill up the already sparce plate (LOL)....Again, everything was great, just WAY OVER PRICED!!!! Go, check it out for yourself and I am sure you'll enjoy it, just save up your money 💰.....

We went in for lunch and tried a couple of the bento boxes. Our server was super nice and our food was pretty yummy! A surprising gem, we say if you're looking for some nice Korean fare, you won't go wrong here.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. First time here and it was terrible. I came because of their lunch. They don't offer lunch on the weekend. I needed my vegetables softened to eat and they would not, not could not, do it. They wouldn't work with me with how I needed my dish cooked. The waitress literally told me that. She said Korean food is not made to order, you take it as is. The person with me did not have a problem. You have to order from the dinner menu paying full price. The waitress recommended ordering without the vegetables but still charging full price. How rediculous! When i said i would be giving 1 star, the waitress said thats fine, we have enough 5 stars wer'e not worrying about that. The waitress was running around by herself and acted like she didnt care. It was uncomfortable. I give them -1. I won't be coming back.

I went here to eat couple times and, everytime I have to wait an hour til they serve me. I asked the owner why my foods were taking so long, and she didn’t say anything ,just ignored me and walked away. The owner are so rude , and they don’t care who come first, they served other people come after me . Not recommend here.
