Sushi , Hibachi and Asian Fusion
Always been a favorite! But I must point out some things that need work and attention to detail. The booths are very old and seats are ripping. Feel the wires poking through. We had to move ourselves to a less “uncomfortable” table. Still old seats. We had to just move without asking because the waitress would not look our way so we could tell her. After we moved, she still didn’t look and didn’t come!! Next, we waited a long time until I got tired and went up to the front counter. Because we were going to miss the lunch special by this time! Finally a waitress comes. Takes our order and disappeared. There were 3 people in our party but only gave us us 2 menus. Even if it’s a minor, still a person right? No water, no silverware, no straws, no sugar, basic stuff. Asked for to go boxes. Brought them and no bag so how am I to carry this food conveniently? We had to keep calling them over for basic things like napkins. The food was good as always but the pad Thai was lacking flavor and chicken. It was packed with rice noodles though. I liked the Kani salad more. It seemed to me that they are understaffed and employees were rushing through every table. Definitely will re-think before coming back here.

Just a big WOW for me. A pleasant surprise in my neighborhood. Well prepared dishes and the attention to detail was perfect 👌🏾. Had tempura appetizer teriyaki fish, Spicy Tuna roll, miso, and Bento Box. 1 server kept the whole beautifully decorated restaurant happy. Sushi chefs prepared right in front of us and it was all good!

I love this place. HOWEVER, I would not go if you are a vegan or vegetarian and are very strict about diet. My husband and I go here a lot.. by that I mean sometimes 10+ times a week. I love to order the sweet potato roll and for a long time, only ever ordered veggie rolls because that’s just what I like. Every. Single. Time. I get random fish eggs in my rice. I never order it and it doesn’t come on the rolls.. it’ll be like 5 tiny little fish eggs on a roll but still.. that’s a major contamination issue for someone with dietary concerns. So beware. But if you like fish… have at it. I’ve never ever gotten bad fish here!!!

こんにちは私の友人 (Kon'nichiwa watashi no yūjin)!!!
Update..
08/24 - still killin it but i had to take a single star away since they have become quite expensive! Again, it is one of my favorite sushi restaurants, but the price of the sashimi is outrageous! My top spot Akashi in RTP near my house does BOGO rolls, and you get 3 pieces of sashimi or 2 pieces of nigiri for $3.75 - $5.00 and I promise, the quality is just as good if not better..
Sake House, PLEASE add just 1 more piece of sashimi per order for the $4-$5 you are charging.. Akashi in RTP even gives me 2, very nice, thick pieces of O-toro for $10-$11!
08/23 - Still one of the 2 absolute best BOGO Sushi restaurants within an hours' drive amd that is is coming from someone who's eaten sushi around tue world!!!
Stop sleeping on this place, people!!! Adding several new photos! The only other BOGO sushi spot that I enjoy around around here is Akashi, in RTP/ Durham.
P.S. if you are a "bougie" foodie like me, you will still enjoy this spot. However, don't be a dummy and compliant about what you get as a BIY ONE GET ONE FREE! 😂. You did yourself an injustice by expecting Michelin star dishes for a $60 tab, folks..
I and my wife also frequent M Sushi in Durham, and you can't even have a good date night for less than $200+, so again, please, get over your tiny pockets! LMFAO 🤣
01/22 - I'll start out by saying I've lived in the Triangle for 20 years, have traveled across the country and internationally multiple times, and have eaten Sushi everywhere I've gone (I'VE EVEN BEEN TO ASIA)! I've also been to 25-30 sushi/ Japanese restaurants in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, RTP, Cary, Morrisville, etc..
So I just took 3 of my best friends to Sake House tonight, and we all had a great time, DELICIOUS food, and excellent customer service! I have known Chris (the former manager) over 15 years now, and now I know Angela (the current manager). As a matter of fact, I have never been to Sake House and had a bad experience! One of my friends didn't even care much for Sushi/ Sashimi, and that's all he ate and still loved it as a first-timer!! I'm glad to say he's a changed man now and loves sushi!
No offense to them by any means as I LOVE their food but I would rate Sake House number 4 or maybe 5 on my list next to: #1 M Sushi, #2 Waraji (go see Masa or Joo-Joo (sushi chefs at the sushi counter/ bar (tell them Wes and Esra sent you)). #3 City Market Sushi (again, you get what you pay for, so be ready to spend $125-$250 on a nice date night for 2 at these 3 locations). I'm also torn between my #4 and #5 as my everyday sushi/ sashimi restaurant being Akashi and Sake House! My fiancé and I have been to all of these places at least 5-20 times!!!
With that said, my friends and I all ordered Sake, Beers, Sushi rolls, Sashimi, etc. (They are best known for their sushi and sashimi)! I hate to say it, too, but I wouldn't go there for any of the other food since there are plenty of other restaurants that specialize in those.
I've been ordering sushi and sashimi here for close to 20 years, so that's gotta tell the tale itself! Again, Sake House specializes in sushi, sashimi, nigiri, Maki, etc.
HINT: I've been going to Sake House for close to 20 years now, and you can get the deluxe Sashimi dinner for $30 bucks, but you also get 15/16 pieces of sashimi, which means it brings the cost down to $2 a piece! Now that's a deal I can get down with 2-3 times a week! 👍🏻😉 Most other places charge $4-$9 per piece for their sashimi!
Here's a few pictures to tantalize your taste buds!!! 😋
P.S.. Shame on anyone who ever went here, had good experiences, didn't write a good review, and then went back on another occasion and had what they felt was not a good experience and wrote a bad review! No one can be perfect 100% of the time, and you know you aren't either!

My friend and I went to Sake House last night to exchange Christmas gifts, drink some wine, and have some great sushi. Our server was excellent and she totally understood that we would be there for awhile and she made sure to give us time and space between check-ins. The food was phenomenal. The rolls were BOGO and I had the Crazy Fire and Monster rolls and loved them both. We will for sure be back.

***IT WAS NOT TEA!!! IT WAS A HUGE CUP OF SOY SAUCE!!! WITH ICE!!!***
WTH
IT TOTALLY RUINED MY MEAL.
CAN YOU IMAGINE TAKING A HUGE GULP OF SOY SAUCE THINKING IT WAS SWEET TEA??!!

The service is very average at best. The atmosphere was nice and overall decorations of the dining room I assume took all of the budget for the restaurant. We ordered bogo sushi and it was all right on the other hand the nigiri came as one piece for 5 dollars which I have never seen before. Toro was very fishy and obviously not good quality, the size of the nigiri is tiny and it’s just humorous that they think it’s acceptable to charge 5$ for a piece of salmon of again very average quality. Find somewhere else to eat honestly.

I have eaten here for several years, whether it be dine in or take out. For the most part, the food is good, but this review is based off the last few times I’ve gotten take out. I ordered the Filet Mignon Teriyaki and asked for it to be cooked in extra sauce. Not only did you not cook it in extra sauce like I asked, but there is no way the meat I got was Filet Mignon; it appeared to be flank steak or some other type of steak. It was very lean, but there is no Filet that I’ve ever had that is chewy like the one you served me. Filet Mignon should break up easily as it’s chewed, and this meat did not. This is the second time I ordered this dish as take out and the meat had this same consistency. If you tell me what you are serving is in fact Filet Mignon (which I would seriously doubt), then you need to get your meat somewhere else. This dish is expensive and I don’t feel I’m getting what I’m paying for on multiple occasions, so I won’t order it again. Is most of your food good? Yes, but please don’t cut corners.

Service was lacking and slow during our lunch. Food was not very good. It was more in line with Chinese cooking and not authentic Japanese. It had an odd aftertaste, and I figured out it was Chinese 5 Spice seasoning. I will not be returning to this restaurant. The decor also was not in keeping with Japanese culture. The server was not friendly and did not acknowledge us well, as we had to wait a while before being seated. Not worth it.

Really sub-par Asian dining experience. Service was curt and a bit unfriendly, the dining room isn't very pleasant, and the food was very meh, especially for the price. I'd just eat something else nearby. Cheeni next door is probably one of the better restaurants in the area.

Service was terrible, food was just OK. The prices on the menu DO NOT warrant service and taste of food. My margarita was served in a martini glass, no ice, and not cold. Server was rude, we had to approach the servers talking up front for our check. Will not return. There are many small Japanese restaurants in the area that are cozy and so much better food and service wise!

Great place to enjoy tons of sushi, and they have great selections of meals. The facility is very clean and there is no odor of old seafood. The staff are friendly and they do not forget to check on you as you enjoy your meal.

The food here is excellent. We have been here at least 5-10 times over the past few years and they have always been consistently good. Sometimes we get sushi, other times hibachi plates, and sometimes a bento box. Everything is really well done and especially for the price. They have also worked to accommodate us sitting outside on a few occasions when they were short staffed, which is much appreciated.
The only two reasons I am giving 4 stars is that they do seem to be short staffed a lot, and they do tend to have their outside tables shut down a lot as well. When it's 70 degrees outside on a perfect day with blue skies, it's hard to justify sitting inside where it's comparatively much louder. We don't mind sitting inside but they do have tall ceilings that echo a bit and make it louder during busy periods.
That being said, these are relatively minor points and we'll definitely be coming back again. They also do a good job with take out, which we have done a few times.

I got their hibachi to go. It was just okay. It took them a while to make it, and the portions were a bit small for the price compared to other places. The flavor was good except for the fact that their yum-yum sauce was more like a southwest mayo that made everything taste like cumin...

Overpriced mediocrity, with even less impressive wait staff (especially hostesses). Honestly, there are so many better sushi places around, with better deals/prices with much better tasting sushi.

This is the worst sushi i have had. One sushi roll had salmon that did not taste fresh, and the other sushi roll had so much spicy mayo splashed on the top that it overpowered the sushi, and made it so soggy to the point it was inedible. The fried cheesecake was soggy and fell apart. The only good thing was the cheese wontons. I have had better sushi from a grocery store. This is my first and last time eating here.

It took quite long for the food to be done for pickup (30 minutes) and the restaurant was empty. My biggest issue is that I paid $15 for the smallest plate of hibachi I have ever gotten from a restaurant. It was such a sad plate! The noodle soup bowl was much better but now I know not ever order hibachi from here again.

Edit:
I went back a second time with family. Just as good, if not better. The crab and cheese wonton (crab rangoon) was great! I ordered the Spider Roll and the Mama Roll, which were both fantastic, especially with the spicy mayo I requested. The service was great.

This is one of my favorite sushi places in Raleigh! The ingredients are always fresh and there’s tons of different options. The staff are all extremely friendly and accommodating. I will admit that the wait time to get your food can be lengthy at times but that is a more than fair trade off for good food assembled by hand, enjoy the company you have with you in the mean time! I took a shot and ordered delivery for this restaurant, and I am so glad that I did! I have been searching years for quality and clean-tasting Japanese Hibachi since moving to Raleigh/Cary, and I’m so glad to have finally found it. I’ve had a dozen other restaurants’ nigiri, but the Ebi here are big, quality, and meaty. I could have made an entire meal from just the nigiri! The tamago had a sweet hint of mirin which so many restaurants skimp on. The teriyaki filet is a generous portion with super tender meat that had the perfect flavor, the sauce was light but flavorful and just sweet enough. The rice was soft and fluffy without being even a bit undercooked, the veg were quality and plentiful - cooked as tender as the steak. They gave delicious sauces including an extra white sauce when I asked, and a teriyaki sauce. I’m glad to have found such a quality, delicious new favorite restaurant!

Freshest cleanest high quality ingredients. This is the first place I ever tried sushi and it is the benchmark that I hold all other places to. You walk in and the place is so clean with Such a spacious dining area. The staff is extremely nice and give amazing service. Then as soon as you get the food you can tell that they only serve the best. The ginger dressing is so light and bright and just the right amount of tangy. The broth for the soup is so savory with a slight spice and umami kick. All the vegetable are crisp and you can tell they are so fresh. They have a huge variety of entrees that you are sure to find something you love. I always get specialty rolls and they taste so clean and fresh. The flavors all work together in beautiful harmony. Some places rely on heavy sauce on their rolls to get the flavor but at saki house is all about the ingredients. It is probably the best sushi in Raleigh. I try to go once a week because I feel like a million bucks after I have a meal there. You have to try it. You will love it

I had a great time dining at Sake House and I must say, the service provided by the guy at the front desk was simply outstanding. From the moment I walked in, he greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcome. He was courteous, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that I had a fantastic dining experience.
The guy at the front desk was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. He also kept me updated on the status of my table and ensured that I was seated in a timely manner.
Throughout my meal, he checked in on me regularly to make sure everything was to my liking. He even provided extra napkins and utensils without me having to ask.
I cannot speak highly enough of the level of service provided by this young man. He is a true asset to Sake House and deserves recognition for his outstanding work.
Overall, I had a fantastic dining experience at Sake House, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by the dude at the front desk. I will definitely be back!

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FOOD AND SERVICE!
Visual appearance , taste and texture of food was as bland and boring as our waitresses personality. $60 down the drain!.
Waitress was unfriendly and never smiled. We ordered Hibachi Filet Mignon , Dynamite Sushi Rolls and Mixed Vegetable Sushi Rolls.
Carrots in all were too hard to eat as was the broccoli. Highly suspicious that steak was actually Filet Mignon. Sushi rolls were mushy and were replaced with California Rolls equally as mushy. No soy sauce to be found. Beer was warm and Dr. Pepper was totally flat.
Wish we'd gone to Olive Garden!!!

Just ate takeout sushi and a few sides and all I've got to say is OOF! I should have listened to the bad reviews. The vegetable tempura has really tough batter, terrible tasting dipping sauce and included both red and green bell pepper (who does that?). Our sushi rolls just didn't taste very fresh and half of them fell apart. The clear broth soup had no flavor. The truly only enjoyable part of my meal was the ginger dressing on my salad. It's delicious! Everything else was choked down. I will not be a return customer.

Subpar food & dining service with lackluster ingredients / taste to be desired for. Mediocre at best.

Today is the last time we ordered from this place, they lost us as customers. One roll was missing. I called the restaurant and the person I talked to said it was all there as she "checked". Since when 6 pieces equal two signature rolls? The rest of the rolls were sloppy, full of rice, and barely any fish. Quality has gone down significantly over the last two years and we won't be back. Please do not buy Capital roll, it's 80% rice.

My family dines at Sake House regularly, we do order to go a lot but dine in quite often. My work had a get together on January 14th and to say I was disappointed with the service is an understatement. The owner knows my family and always comes to speak to us and is so happy. Well last night that wasn’t the case and our server was extremely rude and less than helpful. There were 10 of us so not a ton of people, and we all felt like they would’ve rather us not be there. We sat for half an hour before we even got our menu and then we waited and waited for her to take our orders. She came in with such a sour attitude and so bothered by us even being there. Not at all what we are used to from previous visits. I picked this particular place because of how wonderful they have been in the past. Now I will second guess ever going back. The food is always amazing but to have the lack of quality from our server spoke volumes! Instead of feeling welcomed we all felt like they didn’t want us there. Customer service is just as important as the food you serve.

Ordered pick-up and waited a bit long, however the front desk was friendly. They have great tasting rolls!

Definitely should of listened to the lower rated reviews. The sushi wasn’t good, especially for the price you are going to pay. It was fairly empty and it still took about an hour to get our food after we ordered it. When I got my hibachi, it had human hairs all in it. Definitely a lot better sushi restaurants nearby. Will not be returning.

I have had 3 bad experiences with this restaurant to ultimately decide that I have to write a review. I am extremely disappointed with the service that was given to me for this last delivery. The crazy salmon was honestly very bad, it was not worth the price established, and to make matters worse the price of it is different on Google menu, their website menu and Doordash menu. I had to spit out what I ate and throw the rest away because the taste was not good. When I called to inform that one of our orders was missing the representative told me that it was in the same tray as another order, which should never have been put together because it was two separate items and were being paid for as separate items. He explained that they don’t do bogo for deliveries even though this was never a bogo. In the previous delivery, I had ordered spicy tuna roll and it came without the tuna in the roll, all I got was the seaweed and rice! And the first time I ordered a miso soup and instead got a salad.
Whomever is in charge of doing delivery packaging needs to make sure that the packages are placed separately and the correct stuff is being put in the bags. I have decided to no longer order from this establishment because of the constant disappointments I have received, and to no fault of my own. Hopefully this review will help management realize they need to retrain their staff in order to not have further complaints for future customers.

Nothing bad there

I love this place. It’s super low-key and the food is great. The prices are maybe a little higher than you’d expect but the portions are good-sized. We usually just get take out but the inside is very unassuming and my kid could be annoyingly loud in there without attracting too much attention.

This is truly the best sushi I have had since I moved to Raleigh seven months ago. The rolls were well rolled and the fish was fresh. I had almost given up on sushi since moving here, as all other restaurants I had tried tasted of old fish or old oil with the fried rolls, and had rice that was not rolled properly. Not Sake House! So fresh, rolled properly. Can’t wait to eat here again and try more of the menu.

This is the second time I’ve been disappointed with take out here but I guess I learned my lesson this time. I always give places a second chance. I got sushi during my lunch break today. $18 for 3 rolls seemed like a great deal to me, however the price definitely reflects the quality and taste. The asparagus roll did not taste good- some of the pieces seemed as if they had or were getting ready to go bad. The tuna in spicy tuna roll was minced and incredibly fishy- somewhat off putting. It was cheap but I only ate the cucumber roll and one of the tuna.

I paid $50 dollars lastnight for a little bit of nothing. don't know if it was maybe because they were closing soon, but them 3-split black take out trays was nowhere near the amount of what a local hibachi will give you. IM SORRY 🙅🏻 the portions on the 3-split black trays were for kids..like a kids meal or something. I would highly advise you guys to give full portions that's basically on the dinner menu; what we pay for. we work hard for our money too and no one likes the feeling of getting ripped off. Because you guys are a bigger establishment is no need to get over on people, because I guarantee HIBACHI JAPAN would've been just fine last night instead of going for something that's, under served and over priced. My order number was #214 that's if the owners even care to look at review or respond.

I got a Philadelphia roll and the cream cheese was to much. I couldn't finish the food and couldn't taste anything else.

Angela and the team at Sake House are extremely competent and hospitable. Masters of their trade, their sushi is the best sushi I have had, anywhere, ever, period. If you haven’t eaten here, you’re missing out. My husband and I are loyal patrons of over 6 years and have not once been disappointed. Personal recommendation: Give the NC state roll or sweet heart roll a try. Especially if you like salmon. ;)

This is my favorite sushi spot in North Raleigh. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years with friends and family. Whether it’s takeout or dine-in, this place never disappoints. The service is quick and pleasant, and the sushi is always bo-go and very fresh. Hibachi, salads, and sushi are all phenomenal.

This is by far the best Japanese restaurant I've been to. The outside and inside are very well maintained and clean and the inside is nice and cool. Lots of room! My waitress was also super nice. I had the chicken nabeyaki udon with a tempura piece. Both were very good!! Definitely will be coming back here.

It was a very good address few years ago but last time I went there I was disappointed. The tuna Maki was not well done, very small and barely any fish and not well cut. The special rolls were good but nothing really crazy and the coconut soup was cold and not very good. The service is also not super friendly a little bit off and it's pricy for this kind of food. I hope they will get better.

A place I'd recommend. I first heard about this place when I was brought food from here when I wanted to try a new restaurant when I was sick, and liked the flavoring and the portions, I kept this place stored as a place to visit. Coming here did not soil that expectation. Food was still good, and the waitress had a level of attentiveness that made our experience pleasant.

No quality of professionalism. Ordered online and still had to wait 30 minutes for our order. They acted as if we were trying to steal food after we already paid for order online. However, when another customer came in, white, no questions were asking about their order. they just picked it up and left. we requested a full refund.

My family and i came in a bit late but they still let us in, we stayed in a bit late over closing hours but the staff remained friendly. The sushi we ordered was amazing and some of the best sushi you could probably get in Raleigh. The decor and aesthetic was amazing too, overall a chill and beautiful place with amazing food. I would love to come back again and recommend it.

We have eaten here several times in the last couple of months. The food is delicious which is what keeps bringing us back. I get the salmon rolls (two for $9.99) and my husband gets the shrimp fried rice. He says it's the best he's ever had. The sushi is fresh and delicious.

I’ve dined in multiple times and ordered steak hibachi and the serving portion was acceptable. So I ordered delivery (same order I get dine in) and the portion size of the meat was abysmal. I had to search for meat and found small 7 pieces of steak. If that was the original serving size it wouldn’t be an issue to me. But the meal costing more than what it would be dining in and receiving smaller portions is not okay.

I found this restaurant by accident & to my surprise I have been a regular here since. The sushi is amazing! I have tried plenty of sushi restaurants but this is one really beats them all, along with BOGO SUSHI EVERYDAY!! The staff always has good customer service, I always feel welcomed ❤️ & the atmosphere is beautiful. The best part is it's a family owned restaurant & the owner is so sweet. Will 100% recommend this place to anyone.

i love take out from this place. it’s really good. i haven’t had anything other than their sushi
but tonight i went on a date with my boyfriend, and after we finished up our rolls, we discussed dessert or what else we should get. as we’re discussing what else to order, the waitress brings us the check and says “thank you”, 2 minutes after we had just finished eating.
that’s very rude. the place wasn’t busy AT ALL and it made us feel rushed and unwelcome. we were going to order more. it’s poor etiquette. i’m a very frequent customer but this did turn me off.
also, they have messed up my order twice. once i drove back to have them fix it to what was on the receipt. i think restaurants should allow customers to keep the made to order food when they inconvenience you. they didn’t let me keep the roll, and instead probably threw it away. ESPECIALLY when they know i order from them 4 or more times a week (bad habit lol)
finally the fish can be pretty skimpy at times. but because of the low price, i don’t mind. it’s my favorite sushi place but it for sure has room for improvement.

I'm giving this 2 instead of 1 stars for the sole reason I did not order their sushi or the sake and this might not be representative of their full menu. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and the gyoza as an appetizer and I have to say I'm disappointed. This taste like something I would mess up at home. Baked chicken and a mild teriyaki sauce over mostly onions and some broccoli isn't standing too tall. The soup and salad that come with it are both misses. The miso soup has no flavor, the ginger dressing taste like tomato paste. The gyazo was pretty good though. Low chance I come back unless I try something completely different on the menu.

Very Decent BOGO sushi spot, one of my go to's whenever we're feeling some sushi. They have a lot of good variety and if you're feeling more of a traditional thai or japanese entre, they offer that too.
