First time going here and chose from their lunch menu. The hot and sour soup was incredibly delicious! I also had the Thai drunken noodles. The chicken was a bit dry but the veggies and especially the Thai basil added a nice touch!😊 Customer service was excellent and I will return again next time I’m in the area! I definitely recommend trying this place out! Overall I’m satisfied!😁

Cool little place with a huge menu.
Food was really good, I had the appetizer sampler and the Drunken Noodles with chicken. Service was good and the atmosphere was classic.
My only complaint was that they were slow.
I'll probably be back for a dinner take out.

Overall Rating: 5.6/10
The restaurant offers spacious dining with private sections, contributing to a more intimate atmosphere. While the setting is visually appealing and the food generally good, certain aspects, including service speed and dish execution, were mixed.
Atmosphere: 5.9/10
The unique layout, with its divided sections, enhances privacy and comfort for diners. This structure, coupled with the restaurant's laid-back vibe and distinct appearance, makes for a visually inviting space.
Service: 5.5/10
Service is friendly but marked by noticeable delays, from ordering to receiving the bill, reflecting a leisurely pace that, while not problematic, doesn't stand out as exceptional.
Food:
Appetizer Sampler: 5.6/10
A mixed bag: the spring rolls shine without the typical overpowering cabbage taste, and the crab Rangoon delights with its flavorful filling. The variety of sauces offers more options for tasting. However, the chicken satay disappoints due to its excessive dryness, nearing inedibility.
General Tso: 6.1/10
This dish stands out for its sauce and the inclusion of a diverse vegetable mix not commonly found elsewhere, offering an enhanced flavor profile. However, the chicken's lack of crispiness and minimal breading detracts from the expected texture.
Pho: 6.2/10
The broth is notably good, and the meatballs are flavorful, contributing to a satisfying Pho experience.
Pineapple Fried Rice: 6.3/10
Distinguished by its well-executed blend of various vegetables and flavors, this dish is a highlight of the meal.
Value: 4.9/10
At $78 for three people without leftovers to take home, the pricing feels high relative to the overall dining experience and the quality of food provided.
Additional Note: The restaurant's vicinity includes 1 Pokémon Gym, adding a slight perk for Pokémon Go players looking to dine in an area where they can also engage with the game.

I cannot NOT give this place 5 stars. We had a surprisingly wonderful experience. It’s a little gem of a restaurant in a shopping center that has increasingly become more popular. We visited this location a little over 2 years ago, and walked out as soon as we walked in. I’m not sure if they renovated or just got new management but the sushi at this place looked WAY better this second visit. We placed an order for pickup, and it traveled really well. Wait time was about 25 minutes. We ordered two ginger salads, crab wontons, and 3 different sushi rolls. It was ALL delicious. Be careful not to fill up on salad - they were bigger than I expected! Ginger dressing was amazing, and made in-house. Sushi ALL tasted fresh - had a mixture of tuna, salmon, shrimp, crab and scallops. So good! Our new go-to for sushi. Excited to try the hibachi next time

We go here pretty regularly since it’s the only decent place that isn’t a 20+ minute drive. Wide ranging menu, everything I’ve tried (sushi, noodle dishes, stir fry, etc) has been pretty good. Servers are quick to attend and food doesn’t take too long. Portion sizes usually leave some leftovers, especially if you order multiple appetizers, and the food’s good to reheat for a few days. The rice is also really good.

What an absolute delight!! We had four different meals and each one was delicious. The food is light, fresh, flavorful, and some of the best I've had in a long, long time. Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Our new go-to. Try the Duck Noodle Soup!

So good! We had Crab Rangoon, Sesame Chicken, and Lemongrass Chicken. The chicken was breaded light and crisp. This is a great spot to dine in or get takeout. The staff members were all friendly and helpful. The owner came out to make sure we were well taken care of. I will definitely be going back!

We ordered takeout from Chai's on Saturday, 12/3. We wanted to try a new place to eat and were in the mood for a variety of food. We placed our order online after reviewing the menu on their website. Some of the prices didn't match but I could tell the website hadn't been updated recently due to a Summer special pop-up.
We placed our order and received a 45-minute timer of when our food would be ready. We arrived at the restaurant when it said it would be ready but it wasn't ready quite yet. I received a text when the order was ready and we took our food out to the car. I reviewed everything to find that they didn't include the sweet and sour sauce with the spring rolls (as mentioned on their menu). This wasn't a big issue so we were about to leave when I realized they didn't give us our order of tofu. My husband went back inside and let them know we were missing the tofu and the sweet and sour sauce for the spring rolls. They told him they forgot to make it and would also give us another order of spring rolls to make up for it.
Fast forward to opening the food at home. The remainder of the food that was ready to begin with was now lukewarm. The sushi only included 5 pieces. I have never had shrimp tempura sushi be 5 pieces (usually six or eight). It also fell apart and was rather large. I am not sure if this is a new chef making sushi, but be mindful if you're ordering this. Next is the tofu that was forgotten. The website states it is deep-fried with crushed peanuts and a sweet and sour sauce. What we received was not that at all. We received rather large pieces of tofu that were very soft, with no peanuts, and sauce on the side. I can tell they felt rushed to get us the tofu they forgot but we should receive what we ordered. The house fried rice was also just ok. The rice wasn't warm and the veggies weren't soft/cooked at all. It almost seemed like they just threw some veggies into the rice and put it in the container.
Last, the shrimp we ordered and the spring rolls were very good. The shrimp was more expensive when ordering than listed on their website menu. The rice that came with the shrimp is a small container that isn't filled to the top.
In summary, I will most likely not return to Chai's given the first impression of our order. The food wasn't spectacular and also wasn't correct. For what you are paying for, the quality and quantity of food aren't worth it. I do understand it was a Saturday night and there may be new people in the kitchen but this didn't hit the spot for me. I gave four stars instead of three since they gave us complimentary spring rolls for the forgotten tofu.

Appetizer sampler was delicious. Pad see ew was very lacking in flavor. Meat (we got both beef and chicken) was unseasoned and noodles were overcooked.

I went to this restaurant tonight around 6 pm. I asked to sit outside, and they seated me. After 20 minutes, someone finally came to take my drink order! Since they took so long, I had already decided on my food, so I ordered everything at once. By 7:15, there was still no sign of my food. I got really frustrated and canceled my order. If they can’t bring a single plate of food in over an hour and fifteen minutes, it’s clear how badly they’re managing things!

While their food is usually good I was very disappointed to find out after we ordered our drinks and got say down that they don't have sushi for the month of September. No where does it say that on their website or at the door no one told us that was the case. When he went to take our order he told us no sushi for this month hence why he hasn't given us the sushi menus. I just thought he forgot and had pulled it up on my phone. Hopefully they will start telling people ahead of time in case they really wanted sushi.

Placed an online order for pickup, and I got a text saying the food was ready. It was a mad house and I ended up waiting almost an hour past when I got this text just for 2 hibachis and 1 simple veggie roll. I would have walked out if I didn't have already paid online.

My favorite Asian restaurant in the area! I love coming to Chai. I have tried most of the entrees and appetizers and some of the sushi rolls. I have never had something from this menu that I didn’t like! The service is almost always quick, occasionally there is a wait when they are very busy but I know the staff works extremely hard to serve everyone quickly and efficiently. The staff is very kind and the owner, Michael, always comes over to our table to ask how we are doing and thank us for coming! I will continue coming here regularly for lunch and dinner. Some of my favorites are the teriyaki chicken, drunken noodles, red curry, General Tso’s chicken, spring rolls, and gyoza dumplings!

I am writing this review in hopes this place will improve. The food is terrible. We ordered 5 different items and they were all bad. The pho is not pho and tastes like boiled water with a flavor packet. The duck is frozen and so dry, the ton yum is like sugar water, the sushi is pretty awful. The flavor in all the food is not right at all. They are trying to do too much (the menu is too large.) They should simplify their menu and try to get the dishes to have the correct flavor. I hope they can correct this so we can return. Feedback is important for restaurants so they can improve.

Chef apologized and offered discount when we conveyed the food didn’t completely meet expectations due to dietary restriction. This place was responsive to feedback and was open to making amends. Food quality seemed to be good, nice place to eat if you don’t have any dietary restrictions, hence giving five stars.

Don’t order delivery from the restaurant website. The food is always great. We ordered delivery, paid the $7.99 delivery fee, the 2.99% online ordering fee, and an order tip, all of which nearly totaled $20 additional from my food total.
I received a text my food was ready for pickup so I called the restaurant to confirm I ordered it to be delivered, they stated they use DoorDash as the 3rd patty for deliveries. I decided to wait, after 20 minutes our food still had not been picked up so we decided to pick up the food ourselves and we are out the delivery fees
We only recommend eating in the restaurant or picking it up yourself.

If you order online, don’t go by the pickup times. The food is never ready when indicated. It can be 25 minutes

Chai's offers a mind blowing menu jam packed with bangers. I ordered the Thai duck and chicken satay. The peanut sauce was incredible. Chai's took a simple chicken dish(the chicken satay) and blew it out of the water. The duck was succulent yet crispy, I feel like they found the luckiest duck in Raleigh and decided to cook it just for me. To all the foodies out there, do yourself a favor and put chais on the calendar. It was incredible.
I will be back to try the sushi.

I don’t post often- but I had to share this. First experience was all around a mess and not good. Spent over $60 for 2 people to have Take Out dinner. Ordered for pick up confirmed to be ready at 405. Called and told it would be 415. Got there and then told the sushi chef wasn’t there yet. Said we wanted a refund for the ONE app that was just tuna. They then said he was actually there and to give them 5 minutes. Almost 20 MORE minutes before it was ready. No partial refund or credit offered. Then we get home and I opened th bag and saw this!!! This was the sushi chef required item that was $16?!? Absolutely insane. 12 tiny pieces of tuna. All over food was meh at best. I can’t believe the experience we had and will definitely not be returning.

A huge shout out to Chai's tonight! They were absolutely slammed with dine in guests and so so many take outs and they still crushed it. The owner went above and beyond making long wait times right with every single guest, and all wait staff remained so calm, positive, and nice. Even though the wait time was a little longer than normal (and if you order online it does tell you when the food is ready, everyone just showed up way early!!) , the food is hot and just as delicious as always!!! I've been craving Chais for days and I am a happy girl! Thank you Chais for being the best Asian restaurant around and for handling tonight the best way possible!

The shrimp were big fat and juicy babies, the coconut sauce was creamy & just enough spicy hotness, the fresh basil was just picked and the serving was plentiful. I had a very indepth culinary conversation w my Thai server and she was so warm and friendly and answered all my questions. I even mentioned "nam pla" which is a staple ingredient in many Thai dishes. I also told her l will return!

Chai’s is probably one of the best Asian restaurants in north Raleigh! It offers a wide assortment of Asian dishes, along with outstanding sushi options. We’ve been coming here before new owners took over and have to say the place is better than ever. Our go to for the kids is fried rice, which is excellent and not too salty like other places. I’m a huge fan of their spring rolls, sushi, and noodle dishes. If you are feeling bold go for the Thai fried rice at spicy level 6+ bc it’s got a kick!

The food was good, not great (except for what my son ordered) I ordered the basil duck. I last had duck in Rochester, were I live there's is excellent. What I ordered was not crispy enough. The basil was not properly incorporated into the dish. There were a lot of ordinary vegetables, not the usual Chinese ones! There were about 7 small pieces of the duck?! My lemon grass chicken was cooked right but the favor was incorrect? I have eaten in many Asian restraints in different states this was not a very good one!

We love this place. It gets busy and might take a little longer than expected but it’s because people love it and it’s really good. This is our go to spot for Thai.

Everything was excellent! They took my order over the phone, said it would be ready in 15 minutes and it was, and it was hot and delicious! I will definitely be going back there and highly recommend it to anyone that loves Asian Foods!

2nd time trying this place. People like this place, but my experience has not been the best. The quality food has been average at best. Sesame chicken, dumplings and other items were recently defrosted and tasted like they came from the frozen section of the HT next door. The Sesame Chicken in particular tasted and smelled like buffalo wings with a watery consistency. The people, service and decor are good. Just not the best experiences with the items I have ordered.

Overall, the food is good but the service is absolutely abysmal. When the two servers aren't completely ignoring you and disappearing for 15 minutes at a time, they're doing the bare minimum. I went 10 minutes without a refill and when she finally showed up the cup was filled to the rim with barely cool soda and 3 ice cubes. She then disappeared again, never to be seen again, so that I had to get up and walk back to the kitchen to find the other server and ask her for my check. I might ad there was one other table when I got there who shortly left and then two others came in after me. Such horrible service for 3 tables, 5 people total...& two servers and it was still the worst service I've ever had. Cute restaurant, good food but the service earns it a 1-star. Been 4-5 times at lunch hoping it'll get better. It never does and today was the worst. I won't be back.

Outdoor seating! Food is AMAZING! I'm not even joking, I've never had a bad meal here. I don't know what they do to their food but you leave craving to go back. Try the drunken noodles, yaki soba or the beef soup. Outstanding! Also, every time we eat there, there's a nice man who comes to ask about our meal and ensure everything we are eating is to our liking. I suspect it's the owner and if it is, he shows that he cares! Well done Chai!

Customer service was poor. When I entered the restaurant to pick up my online order, two workers/waiters walked passed me at least 3 times each avoiding eye contact. both waiters sat down in the back , near the kitchen and seemed to just ignore me, while I stood waiting. Also, the food was very bland . The veggies were soggy. The sauces that were provided as a side were extremely salty. I don’t recommend this place for lunch.

Delicious food and good service! The Duck curry is epic!

The food is good, never had a disappointing meal here. The wait staff could be a little more attentive, but they are always polite and food arrives quickly. Overall, really good.

First of all, this place has definitely improved with new ownership! I loved the sesame chicken - it’s not breaded too heavily and is white meat chicken! The fried rice definitely could use some work on the flavor but not too bad. Only tip: it would be really nice to send utensils and soy sauce for delivery/pickup. Excited to try more!

Enjoyed this place very much. The owner is Thai and has selected some very proficient chefs that are dedicated to cuisine from their respective countries. The food was fresh, clean tasting and served with care. Generous portions and plenty of "check ups" from the wait staff. This is far above the typical "Asian buffet" places spread throughout the U.S. Enjoy the sample trays that are offered to experience a more traditional taste of each Asian country represented.

Great lunch options, smaller menu but plenty of variety for all with different needs and tastes. We are at one of the three tables outside and got good service without being constantly interrupted. The quality of the food felt super fresh and didn't take long. Definitely a nice option for an Asian fusion restaurant.

This is my households favorite take out place! If you could see our bank statements you would know how much we enjoy all the food. The crab rangoons are the best!

Green curry mostly bamboo shoots, a few tough shrimp, and a piece of onion. Ginger dressing doesn't taste good. Hibachi is steak cubes, white rice, a piece of zucchini, and a few pieces of onion. Tom kha looks like cream of mushroom and I'm afraid to try it. I love these dishes; I eat them often. This is not what I've had from any other restaurant. I'm so disappointed that I paid $50 for this.

Friendly, delicious and my order has always been correct while being ready in time.
I have never eaten inside but the interior is a nicely decorated Asian eatery. The staff from phone calls to in person communication has always been friendly.
The sesame chicken is my favorite dish, the chicken is not overly breaded and the portion is generous. Recently I had the shrimp Lo-Mein and the flavor was delightful. The vegetables were lightly cooked and the portion was again, generous.

My wife and I returned to Chai's Asian Bistro after being away for some time and we were both pleasantly surprised. The wait staff was nice and the food was excellent. On previous visits the food was heavy and weighed on us both after we left the resturant, but not this time. The food was cooked fresh and quite delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. If you've been before, but have not stopped in lately to visit Chai's Asian Bistro you should try it again, I believe it will surprise you.

Since being taken over by new ownership, Chai’s is absolutely wonderful again! The food is incredible as always, but now the service, reliability and atmosphere match it. The new owner is so kind and truly cares about his patrons! Highly recommend, especially the amazing Thai curry.

My family and I have been eating at this restaurant for years. There is now a new owner and he is so sweet. He always come to our table to say hi and asked how is everything. I really like the spring rolls, they are so good! Our daughter always get sushi and she is always satisfy. I like my dish very mild and my husband likes his very spicy. We always specify this information to our server and each dish come out to our satisfaction. We pretty much always eat there and ordered take out only once or twice.

I have frequented Chai's sporadically over the years, but my recent visit was the first under new ownership. The entire experience was better than ever - food quality, an upgraded menu, and very personal attention by the new owner combined to make recommending Chai's Asian Bistro a no-brainer.

A bit skeptical since the menu had Japanese, Chinese & Thai but the Thai food turned out to be excellent. We shared the Thai spicy noodles and tom kha soup plus white rice and both were super satisfied. (I lived in Asia 20 years and my wife is Indonesian so we know good Asian food). The wait staff was very attentive too. We will eat there again soon!

My sister and I had dinner around 6:30pm on a Friday night without a reservation. We had a very short wait and could see the restaurant was busy! Both of us are former restaurant workers (myself a chef, my sister a server). Chai’s was cranking out to-go orders while the small staff also managed the dining room. They did a great job. Everyone was so friendly, and the food was wonderful. We tried the Thai Sausage (soooo much flavor), an order of Tamago (rice was really well seasoned), and I had the Eggplant and Salmon (custard like eggplant with a heavy basil brown sauce), and my sister enjoyed the Singapore Noodle which she said she really enjoyed. We both had some lychee iced tea which was a lot sweeter than we expected but still really good! We finished up with some matcha green tea ice cream for a well balanced night out.
The inside of the restaurant is so clean. The mural on the wall was so fun to look at too. We really loved that it’s on the brighter side and not so dark like some restaurants can be.
There was a bit of a wait on our food, but we could see just how busy the staff was based on the amount of to go orders, and as former restaurant employees we didn’t think twice about the small wait. It was worth it for the food to come out tasting as great as it did. We will certainly be back, and with Chai’s being so close to home, this might be our new regular spot.

We had not been back here in a while, but based on to ights experience we will be back. We sat inside, but they were hit with a huge amount of takeout orders. We could tell the staff was moving as fast as they could and stayed pleasant the entire time. I think it is great that they are busy and I appreciate their efforts. Yes it was slow getting our food, but for all the right reasons. Our meals were wonderful.. Thank you to the staff and management.

Went to Chai’s night before Thanksgiving. Super busy but the owner and the staff couldn’t have been any nicer! The owner was so gracious and constantly checking on us. My 9-year old said he was “so nice and just loved him”. Food came quickly after ordering. We got crab wontons, Thai basil fried rice, Panang, Yakisoba, and General Tso’s. It was all delicious! We have found our new favorite restaurant!

Ordered Crab Wontons, Fried Sweet Potato, Crispy Tofu, Red Curry with Tofu and House Fried Rice with Vegetable online via DoorDash. The wontons were crispy, luscious and savory. One order seems like not enough, they're so good. The sweet potatoes were crispy outside and sweet and creamy inside. The Crispy Tofu seems a bit dry, but it was still tasty. The curry was very good with lots of vegetables and tofu in a well-balanced, spicy sauce. Eaten over white rice, it was a very satisfying meal. The fried rice was soft and delicious and the vegetables were cooked, but still had texture and bite. Both entrees were generous in terms of quantity. Overall, very, very good.

We adore Chai - the food is delicious and the staff are so friendly and kind. We only found them at the start of the pandemic and it was a game changer. They were always slammed, always kind. We especially love their Thai choices, curry noodles, and soups but the apps, noodles, and sushi don't disappoint either.

Every time I go there I marvel at how fresh everything is here! The wontons are made in house and the seaweed salad is the BEST. Also great cocktails. Maybe the owner has changed but I’ve never had a less than stellar meal and experience here.

I'm originally from Thailand and the Boat Noodle Soup is my favorite. I had a crave for this dish for years, since I moved to NC a few years ago. Chai's Bistro made my dream come true. Their Boat Noodle Soup tastes very authentic, fragrant, perfect flavor. Also the staff is super nice. I totally recommend this place!

Well…a miss for me today. Was really craving some good pad Thai. This was not it. Sauce was WAY sweet like a jar you buy and through on noodles at the grocery store. One green onion and no cilantro. Just kinda blah. I added some soy sauce to try to cut the sweet. Noodles were mushy, I love rice noodles for the firmness and it was just yuck. Shrimp were bland and tasted…well..just like boiled shrimp with no seasoning. In a dish that cost them virtually nothing, the veggies should be plentiful and fresh. The whole dish was a bust.
The hot and sour soup was great although I asked for crispy wontons with it and not those fried rice noodles that are usually a garnish under the dish. They literally turned to foam when you put them in your soup. Maybe they don’t know what crunchy wontons that usually come with hot and sour soup are.
I had never gotten pad Thai here before and in fairness I have gotten other things in the past that were good. Hence the 3 stars vs. the 1 that this meal was.
I’ll give another try but that’s about it. If you are a pad Thai lover, pick another dish!

This place was very amazing!! The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the owners greeted me at the door. Bathrooms were very clean and the food was so so so good!! I would recommend this place to absolutely everyone. The atmosphere really felt welcoming and it was a very fancy experience. This is hands down my favorite place to eat in Raleigh!!! I loved it so much I’m bringing my whole family with me this week to eat here and I going to make this a weekly stop in. 10 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ all the way around!!

Vegans rejoice! Thank you Chai for making me a truly vegan pad Thai (no fish sauce, no oyster sauce, no egg). Yay! Nice fresh veggies and tofu …. Yummy delish! He had the orange beef and appreciated the nice fresh flavors and veggies in the mix. Very high quality overall. Three cheers for Chai - we will be back again for sure. Thank you for respecting our order and taking caution with food issues. Owner and staff seem very warm and caring too. PS: cute renovated dining room and tiny outdoor dining area look great for the fall.
